It has been the 1158 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 26 April, there were 90 combat clashes on the frontline.

The invaders are striking at settlements of Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts. The settlements of Hremiach, Yanzhulivka, Tymonovychi, Stepok, Bila Bereza, Bratenytsia, Dmytrivka, Kucherivka, Prokhody, Myronivka, Popivka, Fotovyzh, Novodmytrivka were subjected to artillery fire; the areas of the settlements of Myropylske, Prokhody, Mykhailivka, Riasne and Novodmytrivka were subjected to enemy air strikes.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried to advance three times on the positions of Ukrainian units in the vicinity of Kruhliakivka and Zahryzove.

Towards Lyman, the aggressor attacked 12 times in the vicinity of the settlements of Nadiia, Hrekivka, Nove, Novomykhailivka and in the vicinity of Serebrianka. Three combat clashes are currently underway.

In the Siversk, two enemy offensives are ongoing near the settlements of Bilohorivka and Verkhnokamianske.

In the Kramatorsk, the Defense Forces repelled seven enemy attempts to advance near Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, Stupochok and Bila Hora, and three more attacks are ongoing.

In the Toretsk, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops nine times in the vicinity of Druzhba, Leonidivka and Toretsk. Three clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 31 times in the vicinity of the settlements of Sukha Balka, Elizavetivka, Novotoretske, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Udachne, Uspenivka, Preobrazhenka, Kotliarivka and Andriivka, and three clashes are still ongoing. Novopavlivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Bohatyr and Oleksiivka were under attack by russian GABs.

Towards Novopavlivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Pryvilne, Dniproenerhiia and Rozlyv, two more attacks are still ongoing.

Towards Huliaipole, the enemy launched an attack with unguided missiles on Huliaipole.

Towards Orikhiv, the Defense Forces successfully stopped an enemy attack, two more are ongoing. The enemy is trying to advance in the vicinity of the settlements of Mali Shcherbaky and Stepove. The settlement of Novoandriivka was hit by airstrikes with guided aerial bombs.

Towards Kherson, Ukrainian defenders successfully stopped one enemy attack.

Towards Kursk, six combat clashes took place today, one battle is still ongoing. In addition, the enemy launched three air strikes, dropping five GABs, and carried out 148 artillery attacks, including ten from multiple launch rocket systems.

Tymur Tkachenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, says that as a result of a missile strike on Kyiv on the night of April 24, 54 houses were damaged in Sviatoshynskyi district. He also notes that rescuers removed more than 2,400 cubic meters of destroyed building structures from the impact site.

Maksym Aheiev, CEO of De Nova, reports that most online services have been restored after a large-scale failure. The causes of the accident are currently unknown.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, reports that there were five attacks by the invaders towards Kupiansk. Ukrainian defenders stopped the enemy’s assault actions in the vicinity of ​​Nova Kruhliakivka.

Kharkiv Military Group states that near Vovchansk, the Defense Forces recorded the accumulation of russian units. The russian military began to use FPV drones less there.

Shelling

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi RMA, says that on the morning of April 26, at least four enemy drones struck the territory of civilian enterprises in Derhachi. As a result of the attack, one civilian employee was injured by shrapnel wounds, the other one had a fractured ankle due to a fall and acubarotrauma. Several buildings were damaged, one of the production workshops was almost destroyed, rubber products were burning.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, reports that in Kharkiv on the morning of April 26, a 14-year-old boy was injured when a Shahed UAV hit a roadway. He suffered an acute stress reaction.

Due to shelling of the city of Kupiansk at 5:00, an outbuilding caught fire. A house and a garage were damaged.

At 04:00, the russian military struck the village of Pisky-Radkivski of Borova community. As a result of the shelling, an administrative building was damaged.

Over the past day, the enemy attacked Kupiansk several times. At 21:49, as a result of the shelling in the community, a gas pipe was damaged, as well as the glazing of the windows and doors of two apartment buildings. In the morning, several houses and garages were on fire due to the shelling in the city.

In Kupiansk region on April 25 at 21:30, as a result of shelling of the village of Hrushivka, Kindrashivka community, a two-story apartment building, the roof of the boiler room, two warehouse buildings, window glazing and the roof of the administrative building were damaged.

In the village of Prykolotne, Vilhuvatka community, at 21:30, as a result of a UAV hit, a car on an area of ​​10 sq. m. and grass in an open area caught fire.

In Izium region at 15:20 the previous day, as a result of UAV shelling, forest litter was burning in the village of Novoplatonivka, Borova community.

 Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office reported that on April 25, the russian army carried out airstrikes on Stetskivka in Kupiansk region. More than 15 private houses were damaged. The russian army launched airstrikes on the village at around 10:00 p.m. The russian military used a 250-kilogram general-purpose bomb with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead.

Donetsk oblast

Frontline

On April 26, in the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders detected and destroyed a Russian assault column that was attempting to reach the village of Bahatyr in the Volnovakha district, according to the tactical group “Vuhledar.” Through the coordinated actions of several brigades, 15 out of 18 motorcycles and 9 out of 10 vehicles were destroyed. Additionally, 40 Russian infantrymen were eliminated.

In Donetsk region, drone operators from the “Ivan Franko Group” destroyed several pieces of armored equipment and a Russian assault group in an armored personnel carrier (APC) using FPV drones, as reported by the operational-strategic group “Khortytsia.”

In the Kramatorsk direction, fighters of the 5th Separate Assault Kyiv Brigade used FPV drones to destroy a Russian “Hyacinth-S” self-propelled artillery system and Russian infantry in their shelters.

Since the beginning of the year, Russia has lost 885 tanks in eastern Ukraine, according to the “Khortytsia” operational-strategic group. In total, across all frontline directions, the occupiers have lost 1,031 tanks since the start of the year. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 10,703 tanks.

Shelling

Three people were killed and seven injured as a result of Russian shelling in Donetsk region on April 26 (as of 2:30 PM), according to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin.

Russian forces dropped eight aerial bombs on Kostiantynivka. As a result of this attack, two people were killed and five injured. Twenty private houses, two apartment buildings, an administrative building, six warehouses, a car, a minivan, and three trucks were damaged in the city. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the Russians attacked Kostiantynivka with a “FAB-250” bomb equipped with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK).

In Novoekonomichne of the Hrodivka community, Russians attacked two civilian vehicles with FPV drones. The driver of one vehicle was killed, and another was wounded. One more person was injured in Siversk.

Luhansk oblast

Luhansk RMA informs that the enemy has become more active towards Novoiehorivka, where Ukrainian defenders repelled another assault attempt. When shelling the territory in our zone of responsibility, russians used rocket artillery twice, cannons 21 times, involved aviation, and sent 273 drones. 

Oleksiy Kharchenko, Head of the RMA, says that Lysychansk community will create housing for another 500 displaced persons from Luhansk oblast. The humanitarian hub-shelter of Lysychansk community operates on the basis of the dormitory of the European University in the city of Kyiv. Currently, almost 400 displaced persons from Luhansk, Donetsk, and Kherson oblasts have found shelter here, including 85 children.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The RMA reported that the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast with UAVs again at night. One man was wounded in Bila Tserkva district as a result of the enemy strike, he was provided with medical assistance on the spot. In total, the consequences of the russian attack were recorded in three oblast districts: 5 private houses and a car were damaged in Boryspil region, in Bucha and Bila Tserkva regions each had one private house damaged.

On April 26 at 7:15 AM, Russian forces struck a minivan with a drone near the village of Nykanorivka in the Pokrovsk district. Four people were injured, including a 16-year-old boy, according to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Due to the shelling in Donetsk region on April 25, two residents were killed, the head of the Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, reported. Five more people were injured.

Russian forces shelled 13 settlements over the past day, according to the Donetsk region police. As a result of the attacks, 89 civilian objects were damaged, including 62 residential houses.

In Yarova, Lyman community, the Russian army dropped three KAB-250 bombs, killing two residents and injuring one. Eight private houses, a store, and an outbuilding were damaged.

One person was injured in Zakitne, Lyman community, and a household was damaged.

The occupiers carried out five airstrikes on Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka, injuring two civilians and damaging 19 private houses and an enterprise.

In Myrnohrad, one person was injured as a result of artillery shelling, and a Russian drone damaged a civilian car.

In Pokrovsk, Russian forces struck with a KAB-250 bomb, damaging two apartment buildings and an administrative building. In Serhiivka, Udachne community, a Russian bomb destroyed an educational institution.

Kostiantynivka and its surroundings endured 18 attacks, including 12 bomb strikes. An apartment building, a private house, two administrative buildings, a hospital, a medical laboratory, a shopping pavilion, and a gas station were damaged.

The Illinivka community was hit by airstrikes: in Dovha Balka, the occupiers damaged eight private houses, a religious building, an educational institution, and a cafeteria; in Zoria, 17 private houses were damaged.

The State Emergency Service reported that on 26 April, emergency and restoration work was completed at the site of a russian missile that hit a residential building in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv. Rescuers worked at the site of the attack in shifts for over 60 hours. In total, more than 2,400 cubic metres of debris and building structures were removed from the impact site. As a result of russia’s massive attack on Kyiv on 24 April, 12 people were killed and 87 others were injured.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that 51 buildings with approximately 2,500 residents were affected by the russian attack on 24 April. 300 apartments were at the epicentre of the explosion, which reached 2000 square metres. Five aid centres have been set up for the victims.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed that the russian army had fired a North Korean ballistic missile at Kyiv on 24 April. According to him, the missile contained at least 116 foreign components, most of them manufactured by American companies.

On 25 April, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organisations, and Ukrainian officials paid tribute to the victims of the russian missile attack in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv.

 Mykola Kalashnik, Head of the Regional Military Administration, announced that Kyiv oblast currently offers 32 temporary accommodation centres. Work is underway to integrate internally displaced persons into the lives of local communities.

The focus of this year’s forum is on strengthening Ukraine’s information resilience in the face of global change. Zhytomyr oblast

The Department of Regional Development of the Regional Military Administration reported that between 2022 and 22 April 2025, UAH 297.4 million was spent on the elimination of the consequences of armed russian aggression in Zhytomyr oblast.

The State Ecological Inspectorate of Polissia region announced that in the village of Novohuivynsk community, attacked by the russian army on 24 April, ecological inspectors are recording the effects of missile and drone strikes and assessing the damage caused to the environment.

Baranivka City Council announced that the Rehabilitation Centre in Baranivka has officially started its activities under the NHS packages and is already accepting patients. Thanks to fruitful international cooperation and the help of partners from Poland and Lithuania, the facility received modern rehabilitation equipment.

Sumy oblast

Mykola Noha, Head of Shostka community, reported that in the morning of 26 April, the russian army launched a missile strike on Shostka community. Two people were injured in the strike, and non-residential premises and vehicles were damaged. According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, the enemy also damaged utility structures at one of the enterprises.

Ukrzaliznytsia informed that in Shostka community, due to active shelling on Makove-Yampil section, the suburban train service has been cancelled. The route of the  ‘Konotop-Nepliuieve-Konotop’ train has been limited to Makove station.

According to the Regional Military Administration, during the day, from the morning of 25 April to the morning of 26 April, russian forces carried out nearly 160 shellings across 33 settlements in 12 territorial communities of the oblast. The most shelling was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided air-dropped bombs and FPV-drones: nearly 30 launches of air-dropped bombs and almost 50 attacks by strike drones.

Civilian infrastructure has been damaged and destroyed: in Krasnopillia community, a civilian infrastructure facility was destroyed, while in Esman community, utility premises of an agricultural enterprise were damaged.

Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on 25 April, as a result of an airstrike on Krasnopillia community, a bridge structure was destroyed.

Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and non-governmental organisations from border communities, evacuated 77 people.

15th Mobile Border Detachment, Steel Border, informed that almost daily, the russian army drops between 50 to 100 air-dropped bombs on Sumy oblast. Some settlements in the oblast have been completely destroyed. Enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups cannot establish themselves in Sumy oblast, as they are eliminated even before reaching the state border.

Sumy Regional Hospital has received a humanitarian medical shipment from the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in partnership with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The shipment of medicines and medical supplies was delivered on 25 April.

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that on 25 April, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (46 explosions), FPV-drone strikes (40 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (49 explosions). Eighteen settlements came under enemy fire.

The ‘North Operational Command, informed that in the border village of Hremiach in Novhorod-Siverskyi community, a private house was damaged as a result of russian shelling on 25 April. During the day, Russian forces attacked the village with FPV-drones, and the dropping of an explosive device from a UAV was also recorded.

Chernihiv Regional Council of the All-Ukrainian Association of Vocational Education Workers announced that two vocational education institutions in Chernihiv oblast have received aid from Japan — modern tractors with a set of attached equipment. The institutions received the assistance as part of the Emergency Recovery Programme (Phase 2), which is being implemented through grant agreements with the Japan International Cooperation Agency .

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, says that at night, russian troops massively attacked the region with drones. Air defence forces destroyed 11 UAVs. In Kamianske, a 67-year-old man was killed when a UAV hit a high-rise building. Four people were injured, including three women and an 11-year-old child. 18 people were rescued, including 3 children. A fire broke out. Apartments were damaged. Three high-rise buildings and 6 cars were damaged. Dnipro region was hit. A 52-year-old man was injured. There was a fire, businesses and an unused building were damaged. In the evening, the occupiers also attacked Myzhivka community of Synelnykove region. A 35-year-old man was injured. Agricultural machinery and infrastructure were damaged.

In the morning, the enemy attacked Nikopol region with a kamikaze drone. They targeted Marhanets community.

During the day, the occupiers attacked Nikopol region about two and a half dozen times. They attacked mainly with drones, but also fired from artillery. They targeted the regional centre, Pokrovske and Marhanets communities. A 56-year-old man was injured. Three apartment buildings, a private house, a shop, an administrative building, a truck and infrastructure were damaged. According to the updated information, in the morning the enemy attacked Novopavlivka community of Synelnykove district with multiple rocket launchers. An unused building, 13 private houses and a power line were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

​Yurii Pavlenchyk, soldier of the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was paid the last tribute in Vinnytsia. The soldier was killed on 20 April near  Novomykhailivka village of Donetsk oblast. He was 22 years old.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration,  reported that Kropyvnytskyi survived another enemy drone attack.  Rescue services of the State Emergency Service spent almost the entire night extinguishing the fire after an enemy drone attack on the warehouses and offices of a private enterprise in the regional centre. Several cars also burned down.  The aggressor terrorised not only Kropyvnytskyi. A drone hit a mobile phone tower in Lypniazhka, Dobrovelychkivka community.

Poltava oblast

According to Poltava Regional Military Administration, the enemy attacked Poltava oblast once again.  The air defence system worked on enemy targets. As a result of the fall of UAV debris in the Myrhorod region, the roof and window glazing of three private houses and four outbuildings were damaged. Three people were treated for acute stress reactions. In addition, 11 settlements in Dykanka, Zinkiv, Lokhvytsia and Lubnia communities were left without electricity due to the weather.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The Air Force Command Of Ukraine said that in the morning, launches of UAVs were recorded in Zaporizhzhia. 

According to the General Staff of the  Armed Forces of Ukraine, an attack by the russian military was repelled by the Armed Forces towards Orikhiv on 26 April. Two more clashes are ongoing, In particular, the russian army tried to advance in the areas of Mali Shcherbaki and Stepove.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that four attacks by the russian army  were repelled by the Armed Forces towards Orikhiv on 25 April, The clashes took place towards Stepove and Novodanylivka.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, said that the russian army carried out 414 strikes on the territory of 10 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast over the course of a day, on 25 April. In particular, 279 drones were used to attack Bilenke, Prymorske, Orikhiv, Gulyay Pole, Kamianske, Shcherbaki, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novodarivka and Charivne.

In Zaporizhzhya oblast, the russian army has increased the use of ammunition with poison gas that affects the mucous membranes and respiratory tract, the DIU reported. We are talking about RG-VO grenades dropped by the russian army from drones.  Staying in the chemical warfare zone without protective equipment can be fatal. Thus, there have already been deaths among the Ukrainian military.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv RMA, reported that on the night of 26 April, the Air armed forces in Mykolaiv oblast destroyed three Shaheds. 

Mykolaiv RMA, reported that on 25 April, the russian army attacked the Kutsurubska and Halytsynivska communities with an FPV drone. As a result, two country houses and a car were damaged  in  Halytsynove village. There were no casualties.

Odesa oblast

The Ukrainian Navy reported that as of 06:00 on 26 April, one enemy ship was spotted in the Black Sea, carrying Kalibr cruise missiles with a total volley of up to 6 missiles. At the same time, there are no enemy ships in the Sea of Azov.

Kherson oblast

The SES reported that this afternoon, the russian army attacked Kherson region with a drone. An outbuilding caught fire. Rescuers had to stop extinguishing the fire due to the threat of repeated UAV strikes. There were no casualties.

According to Kherson RMA, the russian military attacked Komyshany in Kherson oblast with a UAV. A 56-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man suffered blast injuries and contusions. The man suffered shrapnel injuries to his chest, legs, eyes and face. They were taken to hospital. 

The Prosecutor’s office said that around 12:00, russian troops shelled Bilozerka in Kherson oblast with artillery. A 70-year-old woman was killed. She was in her yard when the shell exploded.

 Kherson RMA said that today, at about 10:15 a.m., the russian military attacked Dniprovskiy district of Kherson with a drone. The 58-year-old man sustained a mine-blast injury and a shrapnel wound to his left shin.

Kherson RMA said that the russian troops shelled Krasnyi Mayak in  Kherson oblast with artillery. A 68-year-old woman who was on the street was injured. She was taken to hospital with an explosive injury and shrapnel wounds to her leg.  

Alexander Prokudin, Head of l Regional Military Administration, on 25 April the russian military shelled 33 settlements in Kherson oblast and launched a missile attack on Kherson region. A multi-storey building, 12 private houses, garages and cars were damaged. Five people were injured.

Kherson RMA said that a resident of Kherson, who was hit by a russian drone in Dniprovskiy district yesterday, turned to the hospital. The 43-year-old man was diagnosed with mine-blast trauma and concussion.

The police said that they evacuated a sick woman from Zolota Balka in Kherson oblast, which is constantly shelled by russian troops. The 71-year-old local resident had an exacerbation of hypertension. She was taken to hospital in an armoured car.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Martin Oberg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine. Together with Benjamin Dusa, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Sweden, they inspected one of the largest enterprises in Volyn with foreign investments, SKF Ukraine.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Technology United for Ukraine Canadian charitable organization. They discussed prospects for strengthening the energy sector of the oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

A charity bike ride will be held in Ivano-Frankivsk. This year, the route has been somewhat simplified – it will run through the central part of the city. Both adults and children will be able to take part in the event. Veterans will join the bike ride, including those who have lost limbs. During the bike ride, funds will be collected for the 50th Semyon Vysochan Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Lviv oblast

The RMA reported that Drohobych RMA and the KOLO Volunteer Center sent 50 drones to the 80th Galician Airborne Assault Brigade.

Rivne oblast

The RMA held a meeting with family members of the deceased, missing under special circumstances, and veterans in Oleksandriia community. Relatives of soldiers and veterans voiced their problematic issues to representatives of the Commissioner for Missing Persons in Special Circumstances in Rivne oblast.

Ternopil oblast

Melnytsia-Podilska community (Ternopil oblast) sent 500 food kits to Dubovykivska community (Dnipropetrovsk oblast) as part of the Side by Side: United Communities state program. These kits were handed over to those who need attention and care the most: children from large families, children with disabilities, children deprived of parental care, children of internally displaced persons and families of fallen Defenders.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi City Council allocated financial assistance to 23 families of prisoners of war and missing persons. The total amount of assistance is UAH 1.4m.

Chernivtsi oblast

10 Bukovina servicemen were posthumously awarded high state awards, which were presented to the families of the fallen Heroes.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The World Bank will provide Ukraine with $70m to support the energy system. Funds will be used to purchase energy storage systems. This will allow for the creation of a reserve of energy.

The parliament of Austria unanimously adopted a resolution in support of the protection and return of Ukrainian children who have been deported or forcibly relocated by russia. In the document, all four leading parties in Austria call for continued work at all levels to return the abducted children, bring those responsible to justice, and protect Ukrainian children in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
