It has been the 1217 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.
What happened in Ukraine today:
Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:
Russian invaders continue to assault the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
A total of 77 combat engagements have occurred since the beginning of the day.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy launched eight attacks today near Toretsk, Nelipivka, and towards Rusyn Yar and Yablunivka. One battle is currently ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the occupiers attempted 26 assaults to displace our defenders from their positions in the areas of Malynivka, Myrne, Myroliubivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Chuhuieve, Serhiivka, Novomykolaivka, Kotliarivka, Oleksiivka, Dachne, and towards Poltavka and Volodymyrivka. Defense forces are holding back the enemy’s pressure and repelled 24 attacks. Two combat engagements are still ongoing. Enemy losses are being clarified.
In the Novopavlivsk direction, the aggressor attacked nine times near the settlements of Vesele, Novosilka, Shevchenko, and Vilne Pole – towards Novopil, Zaporizhzhia, and Komar. Five engagements are still ongoing.
In the Hulyaipole direction, the area of Malynivka was attacked with unguided rockets. No active offensive actions were recorded from the enemy.

In the Prydniprovske direction, the enemy attacked the Defense Forces’ positions three times and also carried out an airstrike on the settlement of Odradokamianka.
In other frontline directions, the situation remains largely unchanged.
In Ukraine, during the first five months of 2025, the number of civilians killed and injured increased by half compared to the same period in 2024.
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission reports that in May alone, at least 183 civilians were killed and 836 injured, while in June, shelling intensified even further, leading to new casualties. This was reported by the Head of the Mission, Danielle Bell.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has transferred a Sea Baby drone to the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War.
This veteran drone was part of the SBU’s fleet of naval surface drones that, during the full-scale invasion, struck 11 Russian ships and damaged the Crimean Bridge. It successfully completed several missions and covered more than 4,000 kilometers across the Black Sea. In particular, it engaged in a “naval battle” with Russian aircraft in December 2024. Despite sustaining significant damage, the drone completed its combat tasks and returned to base. As the damage now prevents it from further operational use, the vessel has been fully secured and handed over to the museum.

Luhansk oblast
Recently, Russian forces attempted to advance in the areas of Tverdokhlibove and Hrekivka.
A new Russian law on local self-government has come into force. It outlines four methods for electing a city mayor, all of which apply solely to municipal entities, including those in the so-called “LNR.” Only one of these methods involves the opinion of the people. In two other scenarios, the decision is made exclusively by local deputies. In the fourth case, voting is held for a candidate nominated from above.
Furthermore, the occupation authorities in the “LNR” are allowed to choose independently which of the four methods will be used in each city. This means that in Luhansk, officials will decide whether to allow any form of public voting in cities like Sorokyne, Sievierodonetsk, Dovzhansk, or Svatove. However, this does not apply to the city of Luhansk itself. According to the new law, only the fourth method is permitted there — selection from a list of candidates appointed from above.
The last mayoral election in Luhansk that involved local residents took place in the fall of 2010.
The occupiers continue to use so-called ongoing repair works as a pretext to leave large and small settlements across occupied Luhansk region without water for several days. This usually happens in the winter and summer. Recently, around 200,000 residents of Brianka, Slovianoserbsk, Perevalsk, Alchevsk, Kadiivka, and nearby villages were left without drinking water. In some areas, water supply has been completely cut off, while in two cities it has been reduced by 50 to 70 percent.
