War in Ukraine today: latest news, 23 August, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 912th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On August 23, the enemy continued its attempts to advance deeper into Ukrainian territory. Ukrainian soldiers gave a strong response to the invaders, inflicting significant losses.

There were 79 engagements on the front line. 

The invaders are more active towards Pokrovsk and Kurakhove, where they carried out more than a third of all attacks.

The border regions of Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts continued to suffer from russian artillery shelling. It was also reported that today enemy aviation launched 14 strikes, using 20 guided aerial bombs (KABs), on the territory of russia’s Kursk region.

Towards Kharkiv, russian terrorists stormed Ukrainian units’ positions four times in the vicinities of Hlyboke, Starytsia, and Vovchansk. Currently, three battles are ongoing.

The enemy attacked nine times towards Kupiansk. Ukrainian defenders repelled assaults near Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Synkivka, and Stelmakhivka. Two battles are still ongoing. The enemy actively used aviation, dropping ten KABs on the vicinities of Novosynove, Bohuslavka, and Kruhliakivka.

Towards Lyman, enemy units continued attacking in the vicinities of Druzhelyubivka, Novosadove, Nevske, Torske, and Terny. Ukrainian soldiers repelled eight enemy attacks in this direction. A battle near Terny is ongoing.

Fighting also continued towards Siversk, where the enemy attacked seven times near Verkhnokamianske, Vyimka, Bilohorivka, and Spirne, trying to capture Ukrainian positions. All the attacks were repelled.

Towards Kramatorsk, the invaders carried out four assaults near Ivanivske and Kalynivka. Two battles near Kalynivka are still ongoing.

Towards Toretsk, the enemy launched five attacks. They attacked near Nelypivka and Toretsk. Ukrainian defenders gave a strong response to the enemy – three clashes ended, while two are ongoing. The aggressor’s aviation struck the settlement of Druzhba with unguided missiles.

The most intense fighting took place towards Pokrovsk. Since the start of the day, the occupiers made 20 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the vicinities of Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Ptyche, and Zelenyi Hai. The Defense Forces, holding back the enemy’s pressure, repelled 11 enemy attacks; nine battles are still ongoing.

The situation was also difficult towards Kurakhove, where the invaders attacked Ukrainian units 15 times, trying to advance near Kostyantynivka, Heorhiivka, Krasnohorivka, and Karlivka. Battles continued in five locations.

Towards Vremivka, the invaders launched seven attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops. Near Vuhledar, Vodyane, and Kostyantynivka, three enemy attacks were repelled. Fighting is still ongoing near Vodyane.

In other directions, the enemy did not conduct active actions but used bombers and assault aircraft, as well as shelled the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements with artillery and multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).


Denys ShmyhalI, Prime Minister of  Ukraine reported that up to 3,000 veteran assistants will be trained by the end of the year in Ukraine. These specialists will help soldiers adapt to civilian life.

The enemy transported Ukrainian grain to Iran. According to the National Resistance Center, agricultural products were shipped by trains from Luhansk to the Caspian Sea, then to Iran.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

The General Staff reported that one third of all attacks and assaults on the frontline were repelled by the Defence Forces towards Pokrovsk. The defence forces stopped 53 attacks, with the russian invaders being most active near Novohrodivka, Mykolaivka, Ptychke and towards Zelene Pole.

Russian troops increased their pressure towards Kurakhove. Ukrainian soldiers repelled 20 attempts by the occupiers to advance near Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka and Karlivka. A total of 144 combat engagements took place on the frontline yesterday, with over 120 of them in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

Kharkiv oblast

Vitalii Sarantsev, Spokesman for the Kharkiv operational-strategic group of troops, reported that the russian Federation withdrew some units from Kharkiv towards Kursk.

The press service of Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office informed that at around 12:20pm, the occupiers attacked the central part of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi. The two men killed in the shelling of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi were 58 and 51 years old. A 42-year-old woman sustained shrapnel wounds, while a 63-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction. According to preliminary data, the attack was carried out with an MRL.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi community, reported that at 7:30am, the russian army hit Kozacha Lopan by a KAB.Two private houses and several outbuildings were destroyed as a result of the hit. 

At 4am, the russians attacked Shyikivka village of Borova community, Izium region. According to the KAB, the shelling left grass burning on an area of 200 sq m.

At 3:30am, russians attacked Kolisnykivka village. The shelling damaged a residential building. A 46-year-old man was wounded.

Yesterday at 3:38am, russians attacked Bohuslavka village of Borova community. As a result of the shelling, houses were burning. A 78-year-old woman was injured. The State Emergency Service reported that the bodies of a 61-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman were recovered from the rubble of a house destroyed by the KAB in Bohuslavka. The village had more than 1,000 residents before the outbreak of full-scale war. As of 23 August, about 200 people remain there, and all children have been evacuated.

At 3:47pm, russians attacked near Novoplatonivka village of Borova community, Izium region. As a result of the shelling, forest litter burned on an approximate area of 5 hectares.

At 3:42pm, russians attacked Bohodukhiv. The enemy MRLs damaged a private enterprise, six private houses, two apartment buildings, and four cars. Eight people were injured, including a 15-year-old child. A 57-year-old man was killed.

At 3:42pm, russians attacked Semeniv Yar village of Bohodukhiv community. As a result of the shelling, coniferous litter on the area of approximately 2 hectares. 

At 1:30pm, russians attacked Novoosynove village of Kurylivka community, Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, abandoned houses were burning.

At 11:35am, russians attacked Hlushkivka village of Kurylivla community, Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, a private house was burning.

At 11:20am, russians attacked Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi of Kupiansk region. An outbuilding was on fire as a result of mortar shelling. Civilian infrastructure was damaged. A 65-year-old man was injured.

At 8:30am, russians attacked Odrasne village of Shevchenkove community, Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, an outbuilding burned.

Towards Kharkiv, russian terrorists unsuccessfully stormed the positions of our units near Vovchansk twice. Also, in certain sections of the frontline, our soldiers took active steps to improve the tactical situation.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked our positions 14 times. Near Stelmakhivka, Synkivka, Hlushkivka, Lozova and Andriivka, the Defence Forces repelled ten attacks. The situation is tense, with four firefights taking place.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi CMA, reported that the bodies of two female residents of Kozacha Lopan were found at the site of a russian artillery hit on 21 August. Due to the extreme activity of enemy FPV drones and the threat of artillery strikes, special equipment could not be involved in the process. However, during the search operations, the bodies of two local women who helped with the work of the starosta district were found. The main task now is to unblock them and hand over the bodies to their families for burial.

Ukraine’s first subway service centre was opened in the lobby of the Kyivska station in Kharkiv. According to Mykola Rudyk, Head of the main service centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this is the sixth centre in the oblast to operate in a shelter and therefore receive people during an emergency.

Donetsk oblast

Police document consequences of russian attacks and one person was killed and 8 injured.

Also russian troops conducted 2,664 attacks on the frontline and residential areas. 13 settlements were under attack: Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Lyman, Myrnohrad, Novohrodivka, Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Myrne, lDibrova, Maksymivka, Pleshchiivka, Uspenivka and Yasna Poliana.

54 civilian objects were destroyed, including 33 residential buildings.

A man was killed in Myrne as a result of shelling.

The enemy dropped a KAB-250 with an UMPK module on Pleshchiivka, injuring four civilians and damaging 8 private houses.

The enemy attacked Kostiantynivka with artillery and as a result, two civilians were injured, a shopping centre, an educational institution, trade pavilions and cars damaged.

One person in Novohrodivka and one in Toretsk were injured. 

The occupiers attacked Pokrovsk with a drone, damaging an apartment building and a civilian car. In Myrnohrad, 5 private houses were damaged.

Two policemen were killed in Pokrovsk region as a result of a rocket attack.

Folklorist Iryna Kriuchenko was caught up in the full-scale war at home in Zlatoustivka village, Volnovakha region. Her illness forced her to live under occupation for seven months. For some time, she was afraid to leave because there was no electricity in the village, and therefore no way to clean her phones and laptop. During the filtration process, she hid flash drives with folklore in her hair to protect the authenticity from destruction. Now in Germany, Iryna continues her ethnographic work and sings authentic songs of her native land to foreigners. In 2024, the Kriuchenko family tradition of carpet embroidery was included in the intangible cultural heritage of the oblast.  

The number of people killed in the oblast since the start of the full-scale invasion has reached 2,175 and 5,697 injured, excluding victims in occupied Mariupol and Volnovakha.

Luhansk oblast

Yesterday the invaders attacked towards Nevske and Makiivka using a multiple rocket launcher system, artillery and UAVs.

The enemy tried to attack near Stelmakhivka, Andriivka, Makiivka, Hrekivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka.

For more than two years, the streets and neighbourhoods of Sievierodonetsk have been marked by the destruction of apartment buildings that were hit by russians during the assault on the city. Only this week, the occupiers have identified a company that will eliminate the consequences of the invaders’ crimes. The company is engaged in the collection and transportation of construction waste. It is currently the only enterprise in three half-destroyed cities – Lysychansk, Rubizhne and Sievierodonetsk. 

In Lopaskyne of Shchastia community, dry grass caught on fire. The flames spread to the houses. Locals tried to call rescuers, but they only watched as 31 households burned down. Before the full-scale invasion, the village was home to 138 people. Now, most of the village has been destroyed.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The regional military administration reported that at night the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast with attack drones. air defence forces destroyed all the hostile targets. There were no hits to residential or critical infrastructure.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Kyiv on an official visit. He met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They discussed building a strategic partnership between the countries, trade, military and technical cooperation. Ukraine and India agreed on four documents on cooperation in the medical, agricultural, humanitarian, and cultural spheres.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, informed that two veterans’ hubs had been opened in Brovary and Boryspil. Veterans’ hubs will become a space where veterans and their families can come and receive all the necessary assistance on a one-stop shop basis.

The RMA announced that within the framework of the project Kyiv Oblast. Sites of Memory project, the training of guides to work at the sites of memory of the russian-Ukrainian war in Kyiv oblast has been completed. The guides are to provide visitors with meaningful, reliable information about the tragic events in both Ukrainian and foreign languages. The guides will work in Hostomel, Irpin, Bucha and Borodianka.

Recently, social work specialists and specialists in children and family services in Kyiv oblast received 20 electric bicycles to provide basic social services in their communities. This project became possible with the technical support of the European Union under the project ‘Humanitarian assistance and support measures to strengthen the child protection and care system in Ukraine’.

On 22 August, the VII International Veterans Forum Ukraine. Veterans. Unity, organised by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine took place in Kyiv. During three thematic discussions, the participants addressed physical and mental health, sports rehabilitation, the experience of rehabilitation of female and male veterans around the world, the synergy of government, business and the veteran community, and the system of transition from military service to civilian life.

On 24 August, a photo project about Ukrainian children affected by the war will be presented at VDNG in Kyiv. The exhibition will feature 325 photos of displaced children from the east and south of Ukraine taken by Ukrainian photographers Marina Karpiy and Sasha Mazur. The Children of War event has already been held in Tbilisi, Georgia.

On 23-24 August, a mobile blood donation centre for the needs of the frontline will be opened in Kontraktova Ploshcha in Kyiv. Donors will be accepted in the “LifeSavingTruck”. In addition, there will be a charity fair of goods with patriotic symbols. The Independence is in our blood campaign was organised by DonorUA in cooperation with FUIB Bank. 

Zhytomyr oblast

The border guards of the 9th detachment named after the Sich Riflemen reported that the rules for staying in the border area have been changed in Zhytomyr oblast. The list has been supplemented with a clause prohibiting the stay, movement, and work of male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 without military registration documents. The list also prohibits any movement of civilians in a 50-metre wide strip of land directly adjacent to the state border, except for the territory of settlements directly adjacent to the state border.

A photo exhibition With Ukraine in the Heart dedicated to the fallen Belarusian volunteers was opened in Zhytomyr. The exposition consists of 24 posters with images of the deceased, and you can also watch videos telling about the lives and exploits of the Belarusians. The photo exhibition can be visited at Polissia National University.

Sumy oblast

Around 4:00pm on 23 August, the russian army struck Shalyhyne community by an FPV drone. A 64-year-old man was injured.

The Prosecutor’s Office informed that around 12:00 on 23 August, the russian army launched rocket attacks on the grain infrastructure of Stepaniv community of the Sumy oblast and Hlukhiv of Shostka region. Three employees of the agricultural enterprise were injured.

Iryna Yukhta, Head of Krasnopollia community, reported that around 3:00 a.m. the russian army shelled Krasnopill in the Sumy Oblast. About ten residential buildings, farm buildings, agricultural machinery, and garages were damaged. In addition, one of the premises of the education department was damaged.

During night and morning, russians carried out 17 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in  Sumy oblast, resulting in 47 explosions. The attacks targeted Yunakivka, Khotin, Bilopollia, Krasnopillia, Nova Slobidka, Beresivka, Hlukhiv, Esman, Svessa, and Yampil communities.

On 22 August, russians carried out 88 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in  Sumy oblast, resulting in 209 explosions. The attacks targeted  Sad, Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Hlukhiv, Esman, Shalyhyne, Druzhba, Svessa, Seredyna-Buda, and Znob-Novhorodske communities.

Druzhba community: airstrikes by KAB munitions (2 explosions).

Velyka Pysarivka community: UAV dropped explosive devices (5 explosions), also by artillery (5 explosions), by mortar (12 explosions), by FPV-drones (4 explosions).

Krasnopillia community: there were airstrikes by KAB munitions (2 explosions), by mortar (37 explosions), artillery (25 explosions).

Seredyna-Buda community: the enemy carried out  airstrikes by KAB munitions (2 explosions), attacks by mortar (4 explosions), by FPV-drones (9 explosions). In addition, explosive devices were dropped from the UAV (6 explosions).

Esman community: the enemy hitted  airstrikes by KAB munitions (11 explosions), attacked by FPV-drones (7 explosions), by mortar (18 explosions). As a result of the FPV drone attack, 2 civilians were killed, 1 civilian was injured.

Bilopollia community: russians dropped 10 mines. Also the enemy hitted by artillery (3 explosions), carried out airstrikes by KAB munitions (3 explosions), attacked by FPV-drones (1 explosion).

Hlukhiv community: the enemy carried out hits by FPV-drones (19 explosions), injuring 1 civilian.

Myropillia community: an airstrike by the KAB (3 explosions).

Khotiv community: MLRS attacks (1 explosion).

Znob-Novhorodske community: the enemy dropped 4 mines.

Yunakivka community: artillery shelling (3 explosions).

Svessa community: airstrikes by the KAB (4 explosions), injuring 1 civilian.

Nova Sloboda community: airstrikes by the KAB (4 explosions), 

Sad community: a missile attack was carried out (1 explosion).

Shalyhyne community: FPV-drones stuck (4 explosions).

As a result of strikes on Sumy Oblast on 22 August, two civilians were killed and four were injured. A critical infrastructure facility, two apartment buildings, seven private residential buildings, an administrative building, 14 cars, and a gas station were also damaged. In addition, the equipment and business building were destroyed, the grain was destroyed.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited the border areas of Sumy Oblast and held a meeting with Commander-in-Chief Sirskyi and the head of the Sumy RMA. The head of the RMA reported on the situation in Sumy Oblast. There is a decrease in shelling with barrel weapons and a decrease in civilian casualties.

Sumy RMA reported that Sumy oblast took part in the VII International Veterans’ Forum held in Kyiv. The forum served as a unique platform for discussing strategic issues of veteran policy, consolidating efforts and developing joint solutions to ensure sustainable support for war veterans and their families.

Chernihiv oblast

Throughout the day, russian forces attacked four settlements in two border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Semenivka and Horodnia. The enemy used artillery, mortar and dropped explosive devices from UAVs.

Semenivka community:

1 explosion (likely by dropped explosive devices from UAVs) and 6 explosions (likely from artillery) in towards Karpovychi.

3 explosions (likely by  a 120mm mortar) in the towards Leonivka;

32 explosions (likely by  a 120mm mortar) in the towards Bleshnia.

Horodnia community:

8 explosions (likely by  a 120mm mortar) in the towards Semenivka.

No casualties or injuries from shelling among the local population have been reported.

Department of Family, Youth and Sports of the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration reported that an athlete from Chernihiv oblast, Nazariy Ostapchuk, won a silver medal (on his left hand) at the Para-armwrestling World Championship in the 70-kilogram weight category among persons with musculoskeletal injuries and visual impairments. The competition is currently held in Chisinau (Republic of Moldova).

On 22 August, Baturyn, in Chernihiv oblast, celebrated the 15th anniversary of the opening of the palace of Hetman Kyril Razumovsky after restoration. The 3rd President of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, and descendants of the Gregor Razumovsky family came to the National Historical and Cultural Reserve “Hetman’s Capital”.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA reported that Nikopol region is under enemy attack again. At night, the enemy shelled the area with artillery. About two dozen shells were fired at Nikopol and Marganets. They also attacked the region centre with a kamikaze drone. In the morning, the drone attacks resumed. The occupiers were targeting Nikopol and Myrove.

Throughout the day, the occupiers attacked Nikopol region about fifteen times. They used artillery, kamikaze drones, and dropped ammunition from drones. Nikopol, Pokrovsk, Marhanets and Myrove were hit. Several fires broke out, a shop was damaged, 2 private houses were destroyed, a greenhouse was destroyed, and infrastructure was damaged.

In Dnipro, on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, 18 servicemen were posthumously awarded. Their families were presented with Defender of the Fatherland medals.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​Mayor Serhii Morhunov announced that the military has received 400 FPV drones, 5 thermal imagers and 2 sights from Vinnytsia oblast. 

At the session of Vinnytsia Regional Council, 21 Vinnytsia residents were awarded. Defence personnel, volunteers and medics received the honorary decoration ‘For Merit to Vinnytsia Region’.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, reported that air defence was on alert in Kirovohrad oblast at night. 

In Kropyvnytskyi, a blue and yellow flag was raised at the Fortress Vales memorial complex on the occasion of the National Flag Day of Ukraine. The townspeople laid flowers at the memorials and observed a minute of silence for those who died in the Ukrainian-russian war.

Poltava oblast

 The Air Force of Ukraine reports that in the afternoon, a reconnaissance UAV was shot down in Poltava oblast. 

The largest state flag in the region was raised in Poltava. It was hoisted on a 50-metre flagpole in the Heroes of Ukraine Memorial Park. The 8-by-12-metre cloth was signed by the President of Ukraine, the military, doctors, athletes and journalists.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that the enemy attacked Cherkasy oblast at night. Air defence was on alert in the oblast. According to preliminary information, a missile fell on an open area within the oblast centre. As a result, the wood stored there caught fire. The debris damaged neighbouring buildings of private enterprises, windows in a shop, and several cars. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday, the occupiers launched 317 attacks on 9 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 4 airstrikes on Piatykhatky, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, and Levadne. 180 UAVs of various modifications attacked Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Malynivka, and Uspenivka. Five MLRS strikes hit Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, and Robotyne. Additionally, there were 128 artillery strikes on Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, Levadne, and Temyrivka. There were seven reports about the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure. A 51-year-old resident of Huliaipole was injured during the enemy artillery shelling.

Yesterday, 22 August, the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) lost connection to one of its power lines due to russian shelling. ZNPP is currently connected only to the “Zaporizhzhia NPP — Dniprovska” power line with a voltage of 750 kV. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the temporarily occupied ZNPP has experienced eight full and one partial blackout, leading to the activation of emergency diesel generators and safety systems.

In honour of National Flag Day, an exhibition of flags opened at Zaporizhzhia Regional Museum of Local Lore. The exhibition, titled ‘Under the Blue and Yellow Colors of Unbreakable Will,’ features a collection of over 40 flags from combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the National Police, and rescuers of Zaporizhzhia oblast. Ukrainian defenders left their signatures on these flags. The exhibition will run until 7 October.

Mykolaiv oblast

Yesterday, 22 August, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community using FPV drones and artillery. There were no casualties.

On Friday, 23 August, a solemn ceremony was held in Mykolaiv to mark the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine. The largest blue-and-yellow flag in the region was raised. Attendees participated in a national moment of silence before the ceremony to honour those who have died as a result of the russian federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine. Additionally, flowers were laid at memorials and monuments in honor of prominent Ukrainian figures, state-builders, and fallen defenders of Ukraine’s independence.

A charity exhibition-sale was held in Mykolaiv to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The exhibition featured creative works by craftsmen from Mykolaiv oblast, made in the Tavrian style. Visitors had the opportunity to view the items and contribute to fundraising efforts for the AFU. Unsold items from the event will be made available for online sale.

Odesa oblast

As of 6:00am on 23 August, there are no enemy ships present in the Black or Azov Seas. Two enemy ships are currently located in the Mediterranean Sea, but there are no carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles among them.

Yesterday, a total of eight ships passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea, while seven ships entered the Azov Sea in the interests of the russian federation.

Kherson oblast

Today, russian forces once again attacked Kherson. A woman was injured in Dniprovskyi district due to an explosion caused by a russian drone dropping an explosive device. She sustained a blast injury and concussion. Another resident of Kherson, who was hit by a russian drone strike later in the afternoon, also suffered a blast injury.

At around 12:20pm, russian forces dropped an explosive device into the yard of a house in Kindiika. As a result of the attack, a 51-year-old man sustained a blast injury and facial shrapnel wounds. 

Two local women who were outside were injured by a russian drone attack in Antonivka. A 63-year-old woman suffered a blast injury, concussion, a bruised back of the head, and a shrapnel wound to the thigh, while a 62-year-old woman sustained a blast injury and a leg wound.

Earlier this morning, around 5:00 a.m., russian forces shelled a house in Kizomys. A 64-year-old man was injured, sustaining a concussion, blast injury, and a fractured shin.

During the night shelling of Antonivka, a local woman sustained minor injuries, including a blast injury and a shrapnel wound to her arm. In Kindiyka, a 52-year-old man was injured by a shrapnel wound to his thigh following an attack on a public transport stop. A 47-year-old man suffered a blast injury and concussion due to a russian drone strike at Stanislav.

Yesterday, russian artillery targeted Kherson, Sadove, Antonivka, Veletenske, Komyshany, Beryslav, Tomaryne, Novovorontsovka, Chervonyi Maiak, and Mylove. The attacks caused damage to 20 structures, including nine private houses, five multi-story buildings, a school, a store, a critical infrastructure facility, a gas pipeline, and agricultural machinery. According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, two people were killed, and five others were injured due to russian aggression.

Yesterday, Ukrainian forces eliminated 73 russian soldiers and destroyed 29 pieces of equipment and military vehicles. They also hit one supply post, one observation post, 12 dugouts, one firing position, one power station, one Starlink satellite communication station, and one transformer.

On Ukraine’s National Flag Day, soldiers of the 124th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade used a drone to raise the Ukrainian flag in temporarily occupied Oleshky in Kherson oblast. The Ukrainian flag was placed on a water tower in the city center.

National Flag Day was celebrated in Kherson with a ceremony at the city’s entrance where the national flag was raised. Later, the chief conductor of the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after M. Kulish, Artem Filenko, performed the national anthem of Ukraine.

Volyn oblast

Lutsk community sent a DJI Mavic 3 Thermal quadcopter to the 33rd Separate Mechanised Brigade (for the needs of the control battery and artillery reconnaissance) and the 63rd Separate Mechanised Brigade. The 31st Separate Mechanised Brigade of the 3rd Mechanised Battalion received a DJI Mavic 3 Pro RC quadcopter.

Zakarpattia oblast

The Regional Council held a meeting with the Polish delegation headed by Yaroslav Stawiarski, Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship, and Zbigniew Wojciechowski, Deputy of the Seimas of the Lublin Voivodeship. They discussed support and cooperation.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 50 FPV drones to the 128th Territorial Defense Brigade in Zaporizhzhia oblast thanks to the budget funds.

342 children received their first briefcases and school supplies from the city. These are the children of killed, deceased, missing and captured defenders, orphaned children, children deprived of parental care and children who find themselves in difficult life circumstances.

Lviv oblast

A shelter that can accommodate over 250 people was renovated in Lviv. The total area of ​​the warehouse is almost 230 sqm A children’s corner was set up separately for children. The building was abandoned for more than 70 years. The cost of all the work is UAH 4m.

In the village of Holeshevi, a memorial plaque was installed to Taras Rybchak, senior soldier, Commander of the Reconnaissance Company of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was killed on 3 December 2023 while performing a combat mission. Posthumously awarded with the III degree For Courage Order.

Rivne oblast

The 13th evacuation train from Donetsk oblast with 257 people, including 45 children and 3 persons with disabilities, arrived in Rivne region. This is the largest number since the beginning of evacuation by railway to the oblast. Upon arrival, people received 1st aid. They were placed in 7 communities of Rivne region. In total, since the beginning of the year, 910 residents of Donetsk oblast have arrived in Rivne oblast by evacuation trains.

In Rivne oblast, a large meeting was held with relatives of prisoners of war and missing defenders. It was not the 1st such event, but one of the largest in terms of the number of participants. During the meeting, citizens whose relatives are in captivity or missing had the opportunity to ask questions and express their problems.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council sent 240 summer field suits, 300 pairs of summer field suit pants, 240 special summer suits to the 16th Separate Rifle Battalions. The uniform is made of material that meets all modern requirements and standards.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi City Council allocated financial assistance to 33 members of the families of the deceased (UAH 630,000), 25 military personnel in need of rehabilitation (over UAH 400,000), 30 active military personnel (over UAH 210,000), 20 families of prisoners or missing persons (UAH 1,2 million) and 12 households affected by terrorist attacks (over UAH 600,000).

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi Regional Council reported that employees of Sokyrian City Council and Starosty regions of the community sent a Mercedes-L200 to the military to the front thanks to their own expense.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Latvia will send another 1,400 UAVs of its own production to Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the country Andris Sprdus.

Ukraine and Norway agreed on the extension of transport visa-free travel. Until 30 June 2025, Ukrainian and Norwegian carriers will be able to perform bilateral and transit transportation between our countries without additional permits.

Ukraine ratified the agreement on duty-free trade with Great Britain. This made it possible to liberalise trade between Britain and Ukraine for the next 5 years.

The US Pentagon reported that they gave Ukraine permission to use American weapons during the operation in Kursk oblast of the russian federation.

Ukraine and Ireland held the final round of negotiations on the conclusion of a bilateral agreement on the implementation of the G7 Joint Declaration.

Iryna Mudra, Deputy Head of the Office of the President met with Ralf Stegner, member of the Bundestag from the Social Democratic Party of Germany. They discussed security, economic, diplomatic and legal cooperation between Germany and Ukraine.
