What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

swarrdsaRussian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. In turn, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are disrupting the enemy’s insidious plans, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.

A total of 83 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of the day.

Cynical shelling from the territory of the russian Federation affected border settlements, including Mikhalchyna Sloboda and Tymonovychi in Chernihiv oblast; Stepok, Prokhody, Porozok, Kucherivka, Popivka, Starykove, Bila Bereza, Korenok in Sumy oblast. Osoivka, Miropilske and Ulanove came under air strikes.

Towards Kharkiv, the enemy tried to break through the defensive lines of our defenders four times near the towns of Vovchansk and Vovchanski Khutory.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy tried to advance in the area of Zahryzove, but was stopped by our defenders.

Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked eight times near the settlements of Nove, Hrekivka and Ridkodub.

Towards Siversk, one attack on the positions of our defenders near Bilohorivka took place since the beginning of the day.

Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked a total of 16 times today near Dachne, Krymske, Toretsk and Leonidivka, with five combat engagements currently underway.

Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers have made 31 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Kalynove, Zelene Pole, Novotoretske, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Vidrodzhennia, Zvirove, Uspenivka, Nadiivka, Kotlyarivka and Andriivka. The defence forces are holding back the enemy’s offensive and repelled 27 attacks, four firefights are still ongoing. The enemy’s losses are being clarified.

Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy attacked eight times near the towns of Kostiantynopil, Rozlyv, Rivne and Novodarivka, and four firefights are still ongoing. The enemy attacked Novopil with unguided aerial missiles.

Towards Huliaipole, unguided missiles attacked the area of Huliaipole.

Towards Orikhiv, the occupiers tried to advance three times in the areas of Stepove, Shcherbaky and Lobkove, and the fighting continues.

Towards Kramatorsk, Huliaipole and Kherson, the enemy did not conduct active offensive actions.

In the operational zone in Kursk oblast, Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled eight attacks by russian invaders over the last day, and three more engagements are ongoing. The enemy carried out 11 air strikes, dropping 23 drones, and fired 279 times, including 17 times from multiple launch rocket systems.

The situation did not change significantly in other frontline areas.


A Ukrainian Ardal ground drone carried out a unique operation, flying 17km under fire to evacuate three seriously wounded soldiers from the frontline. The operation was made possible thanks to a request from volunteer Kseniia Vynohradova and the response of BUREVII Design Bureau Director Viktor Dolhopiatov. A team of fifty soldiers was formed to rescue the soldiers, who carefully planned every step. The first drone involved in the operation exploded on a mine. However, the team did not give up and, having retrofitted another drone, successfully reached the position of the wounded and evacuated them.

The Ministry of Defence has approved the Ukrainian drone Predatory Bird for use in the Armed Forces. Engineers created the Predatory Bird based on an analysis of the use of drones in combat. The drone has already proven its effectiveness in destroying armoured vehicles and fortified enemy firing positions. The copters of this complex have increased resistance to enemy electronic warfare. They also have frames of various sizes. The copters carry a payload that is sufficient to destroy a tank, armoured personnel carrier, self-propelled artillery unit and fortified dugout.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

The General Staff reported that towards Kharkiv, russian troops tried four times to break through the defensive lines of Ukrainian defenders near Vovchansk and Vovchanski Khutory, the General Staff reported. Towards Kupiansk, the occupiers tried to advance in the area of Zahryzove.

Towards Kupiansk, there were three attacks by the invaders yesterday. Ukrainian defenders repelled the enemy’s assault in the areas of Zahryzove and Nova Kruhliakivka.

Attacks

The regional prosecutor’s office informed that a russian Molniya-2 missile struck Chuhuiv on 23 April at around 3:15pm. A 36-year-old man was injured as a result of the strike and hospitalised. The shell hit the ground near a private residential area, damaging a car and a garage.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, informed that a man who was seriously injured as a result of a massive drone attack on Kharkiv on 22 April in the afternoon died in hospital. The attack also left 10 people injured or in acute shock.

Spartak Borysenko, Head of Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, reported that in Kharkiv, an industrial area in Novobavarskyi district, where 10 companies produced food products, was damaged by a night attack by russian drones. This was announced on 23 April. 

At 1:20am, the russians attacked Kharkiv with Shahed-type kamikaze drones. As a result of the shelling, the roof of a two-storey building over an area of 1,500 sq m caught fire.

At 1am, the russians fired at Kharkiv with a Shahed UAV, which caused the roof of a four-storey building to burn. The area of the fire was 1,000 sq m.

At 9:30pm, a russian Molniya drone struck Kharkiv. As a result of the shelling, an outbuilding was damaged and a tree caught fire over an area of 2 sq m.

At 1:38pm, the occupiers attacked Kharkiv with a Shahed kamikaze drone. As a result, a warehouse building caught fire.

At 1:35pm, the enemy hit a road in Kharkiv with a Shahed drone. As a result of the shelling, an Audi car and grass over an area of 200 sq m caught fire. An administrative building and 24 cars were damaged.

At 1:35pm, during a Shahed drone attack in Kharkiv, firewood caught fire over an area of 10 sq m. A 65-year-old man was injured.

At 9:40pm, the russian army shelled Kupiansk with guided aerial bombs. A private house (120 sq m), the roof of a closed shop (100 sq m) and trade pavilions (50 sq m), which are also out of operation, were on fire.

At 1:53pm, the enemy attacked the village of Ruska Lozova with a Shahed drone. Grass on an area of 0.5 hectares caught fire.

At 1:47pm, as a result of russian shelling in the village of Vilkhivka, grass caught fire over an area of 1,000 sq m.

At 1:44pm, as a result of shelling by a Shahed drone in the village of Solonitsevka, grass caught fire over an area of 1 hectare.

At 1:26pm, a Shahed drone hit in Derghchi, set fire to 1 hectare of grass. The building of a sports complex was also damaged.

At 1:25pm, a Shahed UAV attack in Derhachi set fire to construction debris in a house and grass over an area of 100 sq m. The window glazing in the house was damaged.

At 1:12pm, russians fired on Rubizhne village, Vovchansk community. As a result of the shelling, an outbuilding (30 sq m) and grass on the area of 1 hectare caught fire.

At 10:56am in Kupiansk, as a result of shelling by two multiple rocket launchers, an outbuilding of 100 square metres caught fire, and six private houses were damaged. An 85-year-old woman was injured.

At 10:30am in Kupiansk, four private houses were damaged as a result of a strike by two multiple rocket launchers.

At 10:15am, russians hit Kupiansk with an unidentified aerial vehicle, damaging four private houses. Structural elements of the destroyed outbuildings caught fire over an area of 5 square metres. Three people were injured: a 75-year-old woman, a 69-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman.

Other

The Mine Action Coordination Centre reported that in Nemyshlianskyi district of Kharkiv, a 16-year-old teenager tripped an explosive device while walking. The boy was hospitalised at a children’s clinical hospital. Also in Kharkiv, on 22 April, a 13-year-old boy was injured as a result of the detonation of an improvised explosive device. The teenager was hospitalised.

On 22 April, a man in a car hit a munition on a forest road in Balakliia. Preliminary, it was an anti-tank mine. The driver died on the spot. 

Donetsk oblast

Frontline

In the area of responsibility of the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo, which is defending Chasiv Yar towards Kramatorsk, russian troops have increased the number of air strikes, which they are trying to throw deep into the territory with guided aerial bombs and the number of fibre-optic drones, the brigade said.

The Khortytsia operational strategic group stated that Ukrainian troops destroyed a russian anti-tank missile system and a Credo-M1 ground reconnaissance station in Chasiv Yar, as well as russian troops’ positions.

The Karpatska Sich 49th separate assault battalion reported that Ukrainian troops towards Toretsk captured an African mercenary from Senegal who fought in the russian army.

The 79th separate airborne assault brigade of the Tavriia Brigade reported that on 23 April, the russian army stormed the positions of the 79th Brigade towards Novopavlivka. The occupiers mostly use small assault groups of 3 to 8 soldiers who are trying to get as close as possible to the frontline positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces using various vehicles.

Towards Lyman, Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunners shot down russian Merlin-BP and Supercam reconnaissance UAVs. This is the second time anti-aircraft gunners have destroyed the most expensive russian reconnaissance UAV Merlin-BP, which costs over $300,000.

Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of Kramatorsk CMA, said that russian troops shelled the outskirts of Kramatorsk. A 16-year-old girl was injured in the shelling at 10:15am

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk RMA, said that three aerial bombs were dropped by russians on Chernihivka in Dobropillia community. One person was wounded in the community, seven houses were damaged.

In the morning, russians dropped two bombs on Sloviansk. The strike killed a 74-year-old man and wounded a 72-year-old woman. “17 private houses were damaged in the city.

Serhii Horbunov, Head of the CMA, said that in the morning, russian troops shelled a residential area of Kostiantynivka with cannon artillery. The shelling damaged seven facades of private houses.

Andrii Pankov, Head of Druzhkivka City Military Administration, informed that at around 3:34am, the industrial zone of Druzhkivka was shelled. The blast wave hit residential areas, damaging the homes of local residents. At the moment, 33 reports on damage to buildings have already been drawn up.

Oleksandr Honcharenko informed that Kramatorsk was shelled six times at night. According to him, the russian army struck with Geranium-2 strike UAVs. The industrial zone and infrastructure came under attack. Death toll and injuries.

Vadym Filashkin said that four people were killed and seven wounded in Donetsk oblast as a result of russian shelling yesterday. Three people were killed in Myrnohrad and one in Novoekonomichne as a result of russian military strikes. One person was wounded in Dovha Balka, four residents of Myrnohrad, one person in Pokrovsk and one person in Ivanopillia.

The regional police reported 3,128 strikes on the front line and residential areas by russian troops in Donetsk oblast on 22 April. The russian army attacked: Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kleban-Byk, Novoekonomichne, Rayhorodok, Bilokuzminivka, Dovha Balka, Ivanopillia, Ozerne, Tolstoy, Chernihivka, Shchurove. Forty-six civilian objects were destroyed, including 13 residential buildings.

The russian military shelled Myrnohrad with artillery and drones, killing three people and injuring four others. A private house and a civilian car were damaged.

One person was killed as a result of shelling of Novoekonomichne in Hrodivka community.

In Pokrovsk, one person was wounded and 2 private houses were damaged.

In Dovha Balka of Illinivka community, a russian FPV drone hit a civilian car, injuring a person.

Ivanopillia of Kostiantynivka community came under artillery fire – one person was wounded and a private house was damaged.

Russian troops attacked Kostiantynivka with four bombs and four drones. The utility company suffered extensive damage, as well as petrol stations and service stations, critical infrastructure, and transport.

In Bilokuzmynivka, 5 private houses were damaged, in Ozerne of Lyman community – a private household, in Shchurove – several recreation centres were damaged.

Russian troops dropped an UMPB D-30SN bomb on the village of Tolstoi in Volnovakha region, damaging a private house. A drone damaged 2 private houses in Chernihivka, Dobropillia community.

Other

Yuliia Ryzhakova, Acting Head of the Service for Children, reported that over the week, 11 children were evacuated from Lyman community, and four from Kryvyi Rih community. In eight settlements of Donetsk oblast, which were included in the list of forced evacuation of families with children, 196 minors remain. Most children remain in the settlements of the Dobropillia community – 181 children.

Luhansk oblast

The RMA reported that on 22 April, the invaders’ assaults were stopped near Nadiia in Kolomyichykha community. Yesterday the enemy fired 19 times from cannon artillery and three times from multiple rocket launchers in our sector. They also launched two air strikes. A total of 178 russian unmanned aerial vehicles attempted to carry out combat missions.

The russians are trying to spread anti-Ukrainian ideology in every major settlement of the occupied Luhansk oblast. Specifically, by consistently installing appropriate “memorials”, most of which are associated with russian propaganda during the russian invasion in 2014, when parts of the region were under occupation. During these months, thematic mass events are held with the participation of schoolchildren and young people to impose a distorted version of the russian takeover of the region on them and to justify the occupation, destruction and their own war crimes.

Nine out of 15 mines were abandoned by russian investors a year after the occupation authorities of the so-called “lpr” and “dpr” handed over these industrial facilities to them for free and without competition. They claim that these coal mining enterprises have proved to be unprofitable and are subject to liquidation.

The Yellow Ribbon movement reported that in the occupied Luhansk oblast, forestry workers are being forced to take responsibility for fires. Last year, in May-September, there were about 200 fires a day in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, there was a severe lack of rescuers, and some streets in villages were burning down.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that 7 private houses, a warehouse and an outbuilding were damaged in Brovary district as a result of a nighttime enemy UAV attack. The fire also broke out on the territory of a hotel and restaurant complex. This fire has been extinguished.

Yesterday DTEK Kyiv Regional Power Grids teams restored power to all homes that were left without electricity due to hostile shelling. According to power engineers, 603 households in Kyiv oblast were cut off from electricity supply as a result of drone attacks on 22 April. 

Kyiv and Kyiv oblast are building a unified space of resilience to any threats, which includes communication and telecommunication safety. Technical solutions to improve interaction between telecommunication companies, authorities and communities were discussed at a meeting with the largest Internet and mobile operators – Kyivstar, Vodafone and Lifecell. The plans also include equipping base stations and communication hubs with generators and energy storage systems.

Recently, the first diving lesson for veterans of the National Police and the National Guard of Ukraine was held in the capital region. Such classes help to relax, reduce anxiety, improve psycho-emotional state, coordination and physical endurance.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Serbia to Ukraine Andon Sapunji visited Irpin. He took up his post a few months ago, having previously worked in Washington, DC. Andon Sapunji came to see with his own eyes the places destroyed by the russians.

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr Regional State Administration reported that Estonia will use donor funds from Ireland to repair the intensive care unit at Berdychiv City Hospital and purchase modern medical equipment. The project will be implemented by the Estonian Centre for International Cooperation (ESTDEV). The project will cost about one million euros.

Zhytomyr City Council announced the opening of registration for a free training programme for setting up and developing their own business. The course is designed for female and male veterans, as well as their family members, family members of fallen defenders and people with war-related disabilities. The course will start on 13 May.

Sumy oblast

Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on 23 April, around 3:30pm, the enemy launched a missile strike on the territory of Korovyn community in Romny region. As a result of the attack, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged.

Serhii Minakov, Head of Esman community, informed that around 4am in the morning, the russian army carried out an airstrike on Ulanove village in Esman community. Three guided aerial bombs hit the school. Additionally, a workshop and the local museum of Ulanove were damaged. According to him, before russia’s invasion, the village had a population of 465 people; now, only 21 remain, having refused to evacuate.

According to  the Regional Military Administration, during the night and morning, russian forces carried out 34 shellings of border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast. A total of 86 explosions were recorded. The shelling affected Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Berezivka, Shalyhyne, and Esman communities. As a result of the shelling in Yunakivka community, private residential houses were damaged.

The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that as a result of an enemy attack on Manukhivka in Nova Slobidka community, a critical infrastructure facility was damaged. According to Olha Harkavenko, Head of the community, due to the russian attack on the village on 22 April by Molniia UAVs, seven settlements were left without electricity.

During the night of 22 April, russian forces dropped three air-dropped bombs on Manukhivka. As a result, a shop and two private houses were destroyed, while six houses, a cultural centre, a medical station, a library, and a monument were damaged.

Over the past day, 22 April, russian forces carried out 193 shellings in Sumy oblast. A total of 457 strikes were recorded. The enemy used mortars (74 explosions), MLRS (109 explosions), artillery (90 explosions), UAV strikes (1 explosion), FPV-drones (60 explosions), air-dropped bombs (21 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (81 explosions). Thirteen communities came under enemy fire: Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Nova Slobidka, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne, Esman, Khutir-Mykhailivskyi, Seredyna-Buda, and Znob-Novhorodske.

Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that on 22 April, the enemy damaged a substation in Konotop region. As a result, more than 400 consumers were left without electricity.

The Regional Military Administration reported that out of 200 settlements in Sumy oblast subject to evacuation, nearly 49,000 residents have already been evacuated.

According to Sumy police, White Angels crew evacuated 74-year-old Valentyna, the last resident of one of the villages in Yunakivka community in Sumy oblast. She was evacuated to Sumy along with her livestock. Valentyna’s home was destroyed by russian strikes, but she refused to leave without her goats and their newborn kids.

State Environmental Inspectorate in Sumy oblast announced that environmentalists estimated over a UAH 1bn. in damages from the russian strike on Sumy on 24 March. The destruction of buildings on several streets caused land contamination over an area of nearly 3 hectares. To recall, on 24 March, a powerful explosion occurred in Sumy, injuring 111 people, killing one man, and damaging over 70 buildings, including schools, kindergartens, and residential houses.

Chernihiv oblast

State Border Guard Service of Ukraine “Northern Border” reported that aerial reconnaissance units of Chernihiv Border Detachment in northern Ukraine destroyed a russian radar station that was used to adjust artillery fire during shelling of Chernihiv border area. 

Chernihiv Border Detachment informed that on 22 April, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (10 explosions) and barrel artillery fire (6 explosions), launched FPV-drone strikes (17 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (40 explosions). Thirteen villages came under enemy fire.

According to the Regional Military Administration, on the evening of 22 April, russian forces attacked a forestry enterprise in Horodnia community using FPV-drones. As a result of the strike, a tractor, agricultural equipment, a car, and a utility building were damaged.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

The russian army attacked the area again with drones. Defenders from the East military group destroyed four enemy UAVs. 

In the evening and into the morning, the enemy continued to attack Nikopol region with kamikaze drones. They targeted the region centre, Pokrovsk and Marhanets communities. It was also loud in Raievska community of Sinelnykivskyi district. Two men, aged 40 and 48, were injured. They received the necessary medical care. There was a fire. The enterprise was damaged.

russians attacked a bus carrying employees of a company on their way to work in Marhanets. A kamikaze drone strike on the bus in Marhanets killed 9 people. A total of 51 people were injured. In total, there were about a dozen drone and artillery strikes in the area. The occupiers targeted the district centre, Pokrovsk and Marhanets communities. In Nikopol, a drone strike injured a young mother of 23 and her daughters, aged 3 and 1. They will be treated at home. 3 private houses and an outbuilding were damaged in the area. The enemy also attacked the Mezhivka and Novopavlivka communities of Synelnykove region with drones and CABs. In Mezhivka community, a 72-year-old woman was injured. She received the necessary medical care. In the area, 12 private houses were damaged, one was completely destroyed, an outbuilding was burning, an agricultural enterprise and power lines were hit. The enemy also attacked Zelenodolsk community in Kryvyi Rih region with a drone. Solar panels were damaged.

Kirovohrad oblast

The Air armed forces were working in the oblast. They destroyed 5 enemy shaheds. There were no casualties or damage. 

Kirovohrad oblast lost defenders of Ukraine. These are Ihor Sementkivskyi from the Svitlovodsk community, Oleksandr Kostiukov from Oleksandriia community, Ruslan Vasiliev from the Novoarkhanhelsk community, Oleksandr Ptukhin and Pavlo Kryvitskyi from Ustyniv community, and Ihor Derevianko from Petrivka community.

Poltava oblast

Poltava RMA reported that, in the evening of 22 April, 13 UAVs attacked Poltava community. Residential buildings were damaged and destroyed, with windows smashed and roofs damaged. Industrial facilities were also damaged. Six people were injured. In Podilskyi district of the city, a private house was destroyed, and several multi-storey and private buildings and warehouses were damaged. In Shevchenkivskiyi district, two office buildings and several high-rise buildings were damaged. In the Kremenchuk region, windows in surrounding buildings were damaged at night as a result of the fall of UAV debris. 

Two soldiers said goodbye in Poltava. These are Leonid Shavransky, who died in a military hospital in Kyiv on 19 April 2025 as a result of injuries sustained during hostilities. And Ihor Honchar, who died on 27 August 2023 while performing a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia oblast. 

Soldier Yurii Soroka was killed. On 20 April 2025, in the north-eastern direction during a russian shelling while performing a combat mission.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that the Air defence forces were working in the region.  They destroyed 5 enemy shaheds. There were no casualties or damage.  This was reported by the head of the. 

Ukrainian defender Serhii Melnykov was buried in Cherkasy. The hero died as a result of artillery shelling in Donetsk oblast.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Today, 23 April, the russian army attacked Malokaterynivka in Zaporizhzhia oblast. As a result of the shelling, private houses were damaged, cars were affected, and electricity and a gas pipeline were disrupted.

Also today, the russian army attacked Mahdalynivka in Zaporizhzhia oblast with drones. The blast wave and shrapnel damaged private houses. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties or injuries.

Throughout 22 April, the occupiers carried out 359 strikes on 13 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces launched 10 airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia, Stepnohirsk, Kamianske, Huliaipole, and Mali Shcherbaky. 209 UAVs of various types attacked Bilenke, Lobkove, Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka. Four MLRS attacks hit Stepove, Shcherbaky, and Mala Tokmachka. Additionally, there were 136 artillery strikes on Bilenke, Lobkove, Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka. There were 165 reports of damaged houses, vehicles, and infrastructure. One person was killed and 40 were injured as a result of the enemy strike on Zaporizhzhia.

According to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, 14 people wounded in the shelling remain hospitalized in Zaporizhzhia, including five children and a pregnant woman.

It is reported that the occupiers tried three times to advance near Stepove, Shcherbaky, and Lobkove — the fighting continues. On 22 April, the Defense Forces repelled five russian attacks towards Orikhiv.

Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence reported that during the past week their fighters destroyed and damaged over 100 units of russian equipment, hit 150 engineering and fortification structures, and eliminated 24 occupiers on Zaporizhzhia front.

Zaporizhzhia Youth Center organized a charity initiative to support Defenders called “Help in Every Step.” Over 50 participants joined the campaign, including Zaporizhzhia-based and relocated schools, colleges, and members of the youth-patriotic movement “Baida.” More than 10 military units received hygiene products, food, and Easter treats from students and schoolchildren of Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Mykolaiv oblast

Yesterday, 22 April, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community nine times with FPV drones. As a result of the attack a private house, a garage, a summer kitchen, and a car were damaged in the village of Solonchaky. Additionally, a power pole was damaged in the village of Parutyne.

Also on the morning of 23 April, at 4:09am, the enemy attacked the waters of Ochakiv community with an FPV drone, and at 5:56am, the city of Ochakiv. There were no casualties.

Odesa oblast

On the evening of 22 April, the russian armed forces carried out a large-scale drone attack on Odesa and its suburbs. Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed: the premises of a private enterprise, private houses, a dog kennel, and cars. A 66-year-old resident sustained burns and was hospitalized.

During the night of 23 April, 2025, air defense forces in southern Ukraine shot down 16 enemy strike UAVs of the Shahed type and other types of drones in Odesa oblast.

As of 6am on 22 April, two enemy carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo capacity of up to 12 missiles were stationed in the Black Sea. There were 3 enemy vessels in the Mediterranean Sea, including 2 carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo capacity of up to 12 missiles.

Over the past day, 4 vessels passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea in russia’s interests, while 5 more ships entered the Sea of Azov.

Kherson oblast

Six people were injured in Kherson due to Russian attacks. At around 5:30pm, russian forces dropped explosives from a UAV on a civilian in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. The victim sustained a mine-blast injury and shrapnel wounds to the head. At around 1:30pm, russians shelled Kherson with artillery. A 78-year-old woman sustained blast injuries and a chest wound. At 2pm, as a result of another UAV-dropped explosive, a 67-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman suffered blast injuries. Later, the city was shelled again, resulting in a 39-year-old man receiving blast injuries and wounds to the shoulder and leg. Around 8am, russian forces attacked a civilian vehicle in Kherson with a UAV. A 59-year-old man suffered blast trauma, a concussion, and a hand burn due to the strike.

In Komyshany, a resident was hit by a russian drone. As a result of the explosion, a 40-year-old man sustained blast and traumatic brain injuries, as well as a concussion.

Three more people sought medical help following yesterday’s russian strike on Tsentralnyi district of Kherson — women aged 32, 42, and 44 — all suffered blast injuries and concussions.

According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, the russian army destroyed a power facility in Kherson that supplied electricity to the city. According to him, the attack lasted over a day.

Over the past day, russian forces executed other strikes on settlements in the right-bank part of Kherson oblast. The enemy shelled Kherson, Antonivka, Sadove, Zelenivka, Stanislav, Bilozerka, Molodizhne, Poniativka, Beryslav, Havrylivka, Kostyrka, Osokorivka, and Zolota Balka. As a result of the russian military’s actions, eight private homes, a medical facility, a hotel, two medical vehicles, and four civilian cars were damaged. Thirteen people were injured in the attacks, including a six-year-old child.

The Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine continue to strike enemy positions, fire posts, and rear areas. Over the past day, enemy losses amounted to 91 personnel, 29 artillery systems, 21 vehicles and armored units, 1 Grad-21 MLRS, 5 reconnaissance UAVs, 1 ground drone, 2 electronic warfare stations, 3 field command posts, 1 boat, 4 motorcycles, 9 UAV antennas, 6 communication antennas, 4 Starlink antennas, 1 generator, 1 food storage site, 1 fuel and lubricants depot. Additionally, 53 shelters and 2 observation posts were destroyed.

The Regional Council reported Czech partners from Vysochyna region donated laptops to the Khust Specialized School of Grades I-III.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA held an online meeting with scientists from the Hyogo Prefectural Institute of Traumatic Stress (Japan) and Kagawa University of Health Medicine (Japan). They discussed issues of conducting joint research by the Mental Health Center at Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University with Japanese partners on the mental health of medical professionals working with traumatized patients.

Lviv oblast

The Ivan Baranych Strii Gymnasium raised over UAH 40,000 during a charity event, which will be used to purchase a car for Strii Territorial Defense. The Vasyl Stasiuk Gymnasium donated UAH 60,000 to defenders, which they raised during the borscht festival. Students and teachers of Bilchensky Educational Institution sent 4 drones to defenders.

In Sheptytsk, the Strategic Change Foundation public organization organized the Coffee for a Donation campaign. This time, volunteers raised over UAH 8,000.

Rivne oblast

This year, 7 educational institutions in Rivne oblast will build new shelters. The decision was made by a special commission under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, which approved the list of winning projects.

Ternopil oblast

The 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade Mahura received 6 Mavic 3 quadcopters from Ternopil community.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Viktor Baydachnyi, the 1st Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. They discussed important issues related to the development of veteran infrastructure in the oblast, the functioning of veteran spaces and the effectiveness of the work of veteran support specialists.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi oblast received 3 vehicles to provide social services to the population thanks to the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine under the EU4 Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine project with financial support from the EU.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Jonas Gahr Store, Prime Minister of Norway. They discussed support for Ukraine.

Sean Penn, famous American actor, visited Ukraine for the 4th time since the start of the full-scale invasion. This time he met with soldiers of the 3rd Regiment of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the video, the actor expressed his support for the Ukrainian defenders.
