War in Ukraine today: latest news, 22 November 2025 (photo)

It has been the 1368  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm: 

On 22 November, there were 112 combat clashes on the frontline. Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines and destroying the plans of russians.

The enemy from the territory of the Russian Federation launched artillery attacks on Bobylivka, Kucherivka, Shalyhine, Malushine, Bila Bereza, Koreniok, Utskove in Sumy oblast.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled eleven attacks by the invaders; three combat clashes are ongoing. The enemy launched one airstrike, dropped three guided aerial bombs and carried out 62 attacks, including two from multiple launch rocket systems.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the Defense Forces repelled one enemy attack, another combat clash is ongoing. The enemy is attacking near Vovchansk.

Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian soldiers successfully stopped four enemy attacks in the vicinity of Pishchane, Petropavlivka, and Kupiansk. Two more clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Lyman, there were two clashes near the settlement of Novoselivka.

Towards Slaviansk, russians tried to advance on the positions of Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Serebrianka and Dronivka seven times. The defense forces stopped six enemy attacks, and one clash is still ongoing.

Towards Kramatorsk, one clash is currently ongoing in the vicinity of the settlement of Kostiantynivka.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders attacked nine times in the vicinity of the settlements of Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar, Sofiivka, Shcherbynivka, Yablunivka, and Mykolaipillia. One clash is currently ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, clashes of varying intensity broke out 21 times near the settlements of Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Nykanorivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novopidhorodne, Molodetske, Dachne and Filiia. Two combat clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Oleksandrivka, the aggressor tried to advance 13 times in the vicinity of the settlements of Sosnivka, Verbove, Pryvilne, Berezove, Stepove, Krasnohirske and Zlahoda. Currently, the Defense Forces are fighting in two locations.

Towards Huliaipole, Ukrainian soldiers repelled thirteen attacks by the invaders near the settlements of Yablukove, Zatyshshia, Varvarivka, Pryluky, Huliaipole, Chervone, ​​Malynivka, Vysoke. Two more combat clashes are still ongoing. Varvarivka was hit by an air strike.

Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian defenders stopped the enemy in the vicinity of ​​Mala Tokmachka.

Towards Kherson, the enemy tried three times to approach the positions of our defenders in the direction of Antonivskyi Bridge, but the Defense Forces successfully stopped the enemy’s attempts.

Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat contact and in the rear.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

There were 250 combat clashes in the oblast.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy stormed the positions of Ukrainian units 12 times in the vicinity of Synelnykove, Vovchansk, Kolodiazne, Dvorichanske and Kutkivka.

Towards Kupiansk, there were six attacks. The defense forces repelled the enemy’s assault actions towards of Petropavlivka, Bohuslavka and Pishchane.

Shelling

Over the past 24 hours, 8 settlements were subjected to enemy attacks.

Two people were injured as a result of the shelling.

In the village of Orilka, Lozova community, a 50-year-old man was injured, in the village of Paniutyne, Lozova community, a 61-year-old man was injured.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons:

▪️13 UAVs of the Geran-2 type;

▪️1 UAV of the Molniya type;

▪️14 UAVs (type is being determined).

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

In Bohodukhiv region, a non-residential building was damaged (Zolochiv village);

In the Lozova region, a civilian enterprise (Lymanivka village), power grids (Mykhailivka village) were damaged;

In Chuhuiv region, a private house and 2 cars were damaged (Artemivka village).

Other

The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 67 people. 30 people remained.

A total of 13,139 people have been registered at the Point since the start of work.

Donetsk oblast

Shelling

At around 04:00, russian troops struck the outskirts of Kramatorsk. There was no information about casualties.

On November 21, there were 1,756 enemy strikes on the front line and residential areas.

7 settlements were under fire: the cities of Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Sloviansk, the villages of Adamivka, Holubivka, Dmytrivka, Kindrativka, Novomykolaivka.

10 civilian objects were destroyed, including 1 residential building.

In Holubivka, Oleksandrivka community, russians killed a civilian with a Lancet UAV and damaged a civilian car.

The enemy struck Kostiantynivka with artillery – one person was wounded.

In Sloviansk, the railway infrastructure and a civilian car were damaged as a result of the Italmas UAV strike.

In Druzhkivka, an enemy FPV drone damaged an administrative building, in Novomykolaivka and Kindrativka of Druzhkivska community – one civilian car each.

In Dmytrivka of Kramatorsk community, a private house was damaged. In Adamivka, Sviatohirsk community, a non-residential building was damaged.

Luhansk oblast

The SSU reported in absentia the suspicion of the so-called “military command” and the head of the “Novoaidar municipal region of the lpr” for organizing forced mobilization in the temporarily occupied Luhansk oblast.

During the day, russian troops made 25 attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses towards Lyman and Sloviansk. In Luhansk oblast, the enemy stormed near Novoiehorivka and Hrekivka, using artillery and FPV drones. All attacks were repelled.

In the so-called “lpr”, the personnel crisis in the transport sector is worsening: the Luganskmisktrans enterprise is staffed with drivers by only 30%, which is associated with the risk of forced mobilization. Actions like “bring a friend” do not yield results — the available rolling stock is running on routes at half capacity.

Queues at the border between the “lpr” and the russian federation persist due to increased checks of documents, transport and personal belongings. Despite repeated promises by the occupation authorities to “simplify the crossing procedure”, the inspection periodically becomes even stricter.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The first mobile shelters are being installed in Boryspil. So far, three ground shelters are planned. According to Vladislav Baychas, acting mayor of Boryspil, the shelters can accommodate more than 50 people and have all the necessary certificates that comply with state building standards and DSTU. The shelters are intended for Boryspil residents who do not have permanent shelters near their homes or workplaces.

According to the Regional Military Administration, Kyiv oblast will receive 260 modern buses from the Île-de-France region. This is a significant contribution to the development of the oblast’s transport infrastructure and another example of reliable support from French partners.

According to Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk, a new water purification system has been installed in the Bucha community. The equipment was provided to the community by the Israeli Embassy in Ukraine and the MASHAV international cooperation agency under the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 28 November, the M17 Art Centre in Kyiv will host the opening of the photo exhibition “Into the Light” by Konstantin and Vlada Liberov, which depicts the work of Ukrainian energy workers during the war with russia. This is a joint project with the energy company DTEK, as well as a continuation of the Liberovs’ book of the same name, Into the Light, which will be presented for the first time.

Zhytomyr oblast

A veterans’ space is being built in Zhytomyr near Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University. The cost of construction work is 102.4 million hryvnias. Construction is scheduled to be completed by 31 December 2025. The foundation has already been laid.

According to the Plast Youth Centre of the Zhytomyr City Council, on 27 November, a charity evening called “Touch” will be held in Zhytomyr to raise funds for a vehicle for an artillery brigade.

Sumy oblast

Ivan Shevtsov, Assistant to the Head of the Detachment, reported that over the past day, along Kursk and Northern Sloboda directions, russian units attempted 20 assaults. Three of these were directed at the positions of the 15th Mobile Border Detachment “Stalievyi Kordon”. Ukrainian fighters repelled all attacks.

Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of the Municipal Military Administration, said that after 9pm on 21 November, russian forces attacked Zarichnyi district of Sumy. The strike hit a non-residential area. No injuries were reported.

Between the morning of 21 November and the morning of 22 November, russian forces carried out more than 20 attacks on 14 settlements across 9 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy, Shostka and Okhtyrka regions. The enemy used guided aerial bombs, UAVs and FPV drones across the oblast. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted a total of 11 hours and 55 minutes.

As of the morning of 22 November, enemy strikes caused damage to civilian infrastructure: a private residential house was damaged in Velyka Pysarivka community, and a non-residential building was damaged in Sumy community.

Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, informed that over the past week, the enemy used 35 guided aerial bombs on the territory of Sumy oblast, and 256 UAV flights were recorded. Thanks to coordinated work by security and defence units, a significant number of aerial targets were destroyed.

Following coordination with relevant ministries and state bodies, Sumy oblast received UAH 50m. under a targeted programme to support Air Defence units.

During the day, 14 people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities in cooperation with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and volunteer organisations.

Chernihiv oblast

According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, on 21 November, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Koriukivka. A total of 23 strikes were recorded. The enemy carried out mortar and tube artillery attacks and launched FPV drones.

Chernihiv Regional Police reported that in Koriukivka and Nizhyn regions, police explosive ordnance teams neutralised warheads from downed russian UAVs. The drones had been shot down by Ukraine’s Defence Forces, and the remains were found in open areas and near settlements.

Chernihiv City Council announced that on 20 November, humanitarian aid from the Finnish sister city of Lappeenranta was delivered to Chernihiv: three passenger–cargo vehicles, a fire engine, and sweets for children.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Regional Council reported that Air Defence Forces were active across the oblast, destroying 22 enemy UAVs.

Nikopol region: The enemy attacked the regional centre and Pokrovske, Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities. A fire broke out, and a private house was damaged.
Synelnykove region: The occupiers struck Dubovykivka community, damaging a social facility and a power line. A 57-year-old woman was injured.
Pavlohrad region: A UAV attack damaged infrastructure in Verbky community.

Throughout the day, the enemy shelled and launched drones at the regional centre and Pokrovske, Marhanets, Myrove and Chervonohryhorivka communities. In Nikopol, a 54-year-old woman was killed in artillery shelling. Four others were injured. A drone strike left two women, aged 48 and 42, in serious condition in hospital; a 46-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman were also injured. Updated information indicates that a 46-year-old woman was injured in the night attack on Chervonohryhorivka community. A private house was damaged, and a fire broke out.

Across the region during the day, three apartment buildings and six private houses, several fuel stations, an outbuilding, vehicles, a minibus, an agricultural firm, solar panels, infrastructure and a power line were damaged.
Synelnykove region: The occupiers struck Mezhova community by guided aerial bombs.
Pavlohrad region: A UAV strike damaged a private house in Troitske community.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, Dmytro Bykhovchenko, a veteran of the russian-Ukrainian war from Kyiv and an ambassador of the “Barrier-Free Movement” project, inspected the implementation of an accessible urban route. The project is part of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development’s initiative under the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine. Dmytro Bykhovchenko was wounded two years ago in Donetsk oblast and uses a wheelchair.

Cherkasy oblast

Since 2023, more than six thousand windows damaged by russian missile and drone attacks have been repaired or replaced in Cherkasy oblast. A total of 39,000 residents have received this support from charitable organisations and local authorities. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a 66-year-old man was injured as a result of a russian attack on Vasylivka region. The russian forces struck Prymorske village by an FPV drone. A private house was damaged and its owner sustained injuries. The man received all necessary medical assistance.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 21 November, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 49 russian attacks in Orikhiv, Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka regions.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 21 November, the russian military carried out 530 strikes on 18 towns and villages across Zaporizhzhia oblast. In particular, russian artillery shelled the territories of Chervonodniprovka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Zatyshshia, Solodke, Yablukove, Rivnopillia and Charivne 208 times.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on 21 November, russian forces carried out 18 FPV drone attacks on Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities. In Solonchaky village, 2 private houses and a power transmission line were damaged. There were no injuries reported.

Odesa oblast

Referring to the Air Command South, air defence forces in southern Ukraine destroyed 22 russian drones launched towards Odesa oblast last night.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, 2 men, aged 62 and 56, were injured in the attack. Preliminary investigation data indicate damage to civilian infrastructure. Administrative buildings, a public catering establishment and 11 vehicles were affected.

The State Customs Service of Ukraine reported that due to the nighttime attack on Odesa oblast, Orlivka international border crossing point has temporarily suspended operations. Infrastructure of the Orlivka ferry complex on the border with Romania was damaged. The Customs Service added that recovery works are ongoing and travellers are advised to use the nearest alternative border crossing points.

On 21 November, the russian military twice attacked Odesa oblast by strike drones. During the attack, Odesa anti-aircraft missile brigade shot down 16 Shahed and Gerbera-type UAVs.

Kherson oblast

Based on the information provided by the Prosecutor’s Office, as of 5:30pm, 2 people were killed and 5 injured as a result of russian strikes on Kherson oblast. Private and apartment buildings, a municipal enterprise and farm structures were damaged. Law enforcement has opened criminal proceedings.

The State Emergency Service of the oblast reported that in Kherson, a fire broke out in a building during the day due to russian artillery shelling. The fire spread to the space between the roof and the second floor. Despite the risk of repeated strikes, rescuers extinguished the blaze.

According to the CMA, around 2:15pm, russian forces shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 78-year-old woman was killed. Another woman sustained mine-blast injuries and was hospitalised.

The RMA reported that russian forces attacked a civilian vehicle by a drone near Inhulets village in Kherson oblast. 2 people were injured, one of them in serious condition.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, informed that around 10am, russian artillery shelled Kizomys in Kherson oblast. A woman born in 1949 was killed.

The CMA reported that at night, russian forces carried out several strikes on Tsentralnyi district of Kherson. Buildings were damaged. The blast wave threw a nearby parked bus onto a fence.

Yesterday in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, a 44-year-old woman came under russian fire. Today she sought medical attention with mine-blast trauma and a concussion.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 21 November, russian forces shelled 33 settlements in Kherson oblast. An administrative building, 3 high-rise buildings, 14 private houses, garages and vehicles were damaged. 6 people were injured.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Kolkiv Village Council reported that soldier Serhii Khorovets was awarded the For Wounds breastplate.

Zakarpattia oblast

Berehiv RMA reported that Vitalii Palko, defender from Velyka Kopany, Vynohradiv community, Berehiv region, is returning home on his shield.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Carpathian sappers continue to clear the liberated lands of Kherson oblast. Specialists of the State Emergency Service of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast have surveyed over 6h of the territory of Kherson oblast, carried out 36 visits and neutralized 40 explosive devices.

Lviv oblast

The Oriv-1 Village Community Center of Truskavets Community opened a collection for equipment for a fellow villager-military man. The collection was closed thanks to donations, in particular, from businesses, performances by creative groups, and support from parishioners of the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. In total, over UAH 70,000 was raised.

Rivne oblast

Since the beginning of the year, 15 vehicles have been handed over to the Security and Defense Forces from the region. These are vehicles confiscated as state revenue from violators of customs legislation and as part of criminal proceedings.

Ternopil oblast

Operational information regarding the rocket attack on Ternopil, as of 22 November: 33 people were killed (including 6 children), 94 people were injured (including 18 children), 6 people are considered missing (including 1 child).

The dismantling of the reinforced concrete structures of the stairwell and the removal of construction debris with a detailed inspection of each piece of debris continue. 104 rescuers and 31 pieces of equipment are working on site.

Maciej Wewir, Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman, stated that Amelia Grzesko, 7-year-old Polish citizen, and her mother were killed in a russian strike on a residential building in Ternopil.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that 74 servicemen received financial assistance for treatment and rehabilitation. The total amount of additional assistance is over UAH 1.1m.

Chernivtsi oblast

2 renovated vocational education institutions, modernized with the support of European partners, were presented in Chernivtsi. Over EUR 3.5m of EU investment was directed towards repairs and equipment.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Lithuania has stopped the transit of lukoil oil products to kaliningrad. In addition to the UN and EU sanctions packages, LTG adheres to the US and UK sanctions regime when managing business risks.
