On 22 March, the number of enemy attacks stood at 54.
The aggressor is shelling border regions. The settlements of Korenok, Otruba, Brusky, Sosnivka, Neskuchne, Yastrubshchyna, Tovstodubove, Kucherivka, and Bachivsk in Sumy oblast have come under fire. Volfyne was hit by an airstrike.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, the enemy conducted 66 shellings of settlements and our troops’ positions, five of which involved MLRS. One enemy assault action was recorded.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked four times in the vicinity of Starytsia, Volchanski Khutory, Zybyne, and Okhrimivka. One assault action is ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the adversary made two attempts to improve their tactical position in the vicinity of Borivska Andriivka and Novoplatonivka.
Towards Lyman, Ukrainian warriors repelled three attempts by the invaders to advance toward Shyiivka, Serednie, and Dibrova.
Towards Sloviansk, the occupiers attempted to advance toward Ukrainian troops’ positions near Zakitne, Riznykivka, and Pazeno three times.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy attacked once in the vicinity of Orikhovo-Vasylivka.
Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders carried out seven attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, and Sofiivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, since the start of the day, the occupiers have attempted to push Ukrainian warriors from their positions 21 times in the vicinity of Bilytske, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Hryshyne, Pokrovsk, Shevchenko, Kotlyne, Udachne, and Novomykolaivka. One enemy attack is ongoing.
Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy went on the offensive three times in the vicinity of Ternove, Yehorivka, and Novohryhorivka. Airstrikes were carried out in the vicinity of Ivanivka. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, there were nine attacks against Ukrainian defenders’ positions in the vicinity of Solodke, Huliaipole, and Myrne. One enemy assault action is ongoing. Airstrikes hit the vicinity of Vozdvyzhivka, Novoselivka, Kopani, Huliaipilske, Dolynka, Verkhnia Tersa, and Tersianka.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy conducted no offensive actions but launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Komyshuvakha and, according to preliminary information, missile strikes in the vicinity of Bilenke and Krynychne. No assault actions were recorded.
Towards Kherson, the occupiers conducted no offensive actions.
In other directions, there are currently no significant changes in the situation. No enemy attempts to advance have been recorded.
Ukrainian troops are exhausting the adversary along the entire line of combat engagement and in the rear.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
There were 148 combat engagements in Kharkiv oblast. Towards Southern Sloboda, Russian troops made eight attempts to break through the defenses in the vicinity of Prylypka, Volchanski Khutory, Starytsia, Okhrimivka, and Synelnykove. Another five attacks were repelled towards Kupiansk in the vicinity of Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Pishchane, and Hlushkivka.

On the morning of 22 March, drones struck the grounds of a medical facility in Velykyi Burluk, causing garages to catch fire; no casualties were reported there. In Prystin of Kupiansk community, a 60-year-old man was killed after detonating an unidentified device. In the vicinity of Dubivka, a drone struck a vehicle, wounding the driver, who has since been hospitalized.

In the vicinity of Dubivka in Derhachi community, a 30-year-old driver sustained explosive injuries and contusions after a russian drone struck his vehicle on 21 March. The man was hospitalized.
Over the past day, 12 settlements in Kharkiv oblast came under enemy strikes. Two people were injured as a result of the shelling.
Two women suffered acute stress reactions following a russian KAB strike on Oskil. The russian army attacked the village around 23:00 on 21 March, damaging approximately 20 private houses and power lines.
In Dubivka of the Derhachi community, a 31-year-old man was injured, and in Oskil, a 62-year-old woman was injured. In the village of Myrne in Borova community, a 50-year-old man was injured by the explosion of an unidentified device.
To strike Kharkiv oblast, russians used 1 KAB, 1 Geran-2 UAV, 4 Molniya UAVs, 5 FPV drones, and 8 drones of an unidentified type.
In Kharkiv oblast, damage was recorded to a private house and power grids in Shypuvate, power grids in Bratenytsia, a private house in Oskil, a vehicle in Dubivka, a private house in Shestakove, and railway infrastructure in Dachne.
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 173 people over the past 24 hours. Since it began operations, 23,964 people have been registered there.
Donetsk oblast
Following the massive russian assault towards Lyman, Ukrainian units are combing the area to eliminate russian servicemen who managed to infiltrate and hide during the attack. According to Vasyl Denysiuk, spokesperson for the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade, the occupiers are attempting to reach the line of the Siverskyi Donets River to increase pressure on Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration and sever Ukrainian logistical routes, primarily Izium–Sloviansk highway.
russian military forces launched 28 assaults towards Pokrovsk in the vicinity of Shakhoive, Rodynske, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, Udachne, and Molodetske, as well as in the vicinity of Nove Shakhoive, Kucheriv Yar, Bilytske, and Novopavlivka. Towards Kostiantynivka, another 17 attacks were recorded.
Throughout 21 March, police recorded 1,457 russian strikes against the front line and the residential sector. Seven settlements came under fire: Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, Sloviansk, Sviatohorivka, Maidan, and Starovarvarivka. Fifty civilian objects were damaged or destroyed, including 41 residential buildings.
In the village of Maidan, a drone attack killed one person and wounded four others, including a child born in 2010. Thirty-five private houses and three civilian vehicles were damaged.
russians dropped two KAB-250 bombs on Druzhkivka and attacked it with drones; a civilian was wounded, and a house was destroyed.
In Mykolaivka, one person was wounded and a private house was damaged as a result of shelling.
It also became known that on 20 March, a civilian was killed in Dobropillia due to an FPV drone attack.

Luhansk oblast
In Sievierodonetsk, a russian serviceman who, according to the ATESH movement, collaborates with the underground, set fire to the equipment of his 123rd Artillery Brigade. The vehicle, marked with the “Z” symbol, was burned to the ground.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, as well as towards Lyman and Sloviansk, the russians made 12 attempts to advance in the vicinity of seven settlements. On the territory of Luhansk oblast, the occupiers used mortars three times, struck with tube artillery four times, and twice with automatic grenade launchers. Additionally, russians directed 13 UAVs and FPV drones toward Ukrainian defenders.
The humanitarian hubs of Nyzhnia Duvanka Military Administration have become more than just aid distribution points; they are now centers for cultural integration and support for displaced persons from Luhansk oblast. They host creative workshops, meetings with veterans, excursions, and joint celebrations that help people recover while preserving their identity and sense of community.
Residents of occupied Luhansk oblast are complaining of serious problems accessing Telegram. Without tools to bypass the blocks, the messenger barely functions; meanwhile, the occupiers continue to block VPN services, further complicating communication.
Starting in March, in the so-called “lpr,” disability certificates, extracts from the Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC) reports, and individual rehabilitation programs are being generated in electronic form. These changes have been extended even to frontline districts, where there is a shortage of doctors, hospitals are partially destroyed, and internet access is often non-existent.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, reported that during the night, russian forces attacked Kyiv oblast with drones. The enemy striked peaceful settlements, civilian enterprises, and residential homes. The consequences of the attack were recorded in the Brovary community. Buildings in three enterprises were damaged. A fire broke out at one of those, it has already been contained. The facades and roofs of two private houses, two passenger cars and a truck were also damaged.
DTEK reported that on the morning of March 22, an accident occurred at one of the energy facilities that had previously been significantly damaged by russian shelling. As a result, some residents of the Dniprovskyi and Darnytskyi districts of Kyiv temporarily lost electricity, as well as some households in the Brovary district of Kyiv oblast.
There are currently 26 Resilience Centers operating in Kyiv oblast — special barrier-free spaces created as part of the nationwide mental health program “How are you?”. Residents can receive free psychological and social support there. Qualified specialists help reduce anxiety, provide support to those who have experienced loss or evacuation, and assist with adaptation after military service.
According to Serhii Tarakanov, Director General of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, construction of a 2 MW solar power plant has begun at the facility. Alternative energy sources will help ensure the plant’s critical needs during blackouts or network damage, reduce dependence on external power lines, and guarantee uninterrupted operation of essential systems. The contractor was selected through an international tender organized by the UN Development Programme in Ukraine.
The Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration reported that the situation with organizing the educational process in the capital has stabilized after large-scale russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Nearly 90% of schools have cancelled remote learning and returned to in-person classes.
The Kyiv City State Administration also reported that a new service has been added to the Kyiv Services Portal, allowing veterans to choose a support specialist. Users can select their district, find a specialist working in that area, and then request a consultation.
Zhytomyr oblast
In Zhytomyr, a remembrance event for missing persons and prisoners of war titled “United by Silence Louder Than Words” took place. People from all over Ukraine gathered for the event; in particular, 18 residents of Mykolaiv oblast came to support the initiative.
Since the beginning of 2026, residents of Zhytomyr oblast have received nearly 500 referrals for socially useful work under the “Recovery Army” project. Participants were involved across 26 communities in various activities, including assisting people with limited mobility, producing camouflage nets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, loading and unloading humanitarian aid, preparing firewood for the military and vulnerable populations, and carrying out repair and restoration work on critical infrastructure facilities.
Sumy oblast
The State Emergency Service reported that russian forces struck rescue workers in Sumy. During the night of 22 March, rescuers were inspecting an area following a strike in the regional centre. As the team was preparing to return to their unit, the enemy carried out a second strike near a fire tanker. Personnel managed to react in time and move to a safe location. A fire vehicle was damaged.
During the night of 21–22 March, russia struck Ulianivka in Sumy region. As a result of the attack, two women aged 69 and 77 were injured, reported Mykolaivka settlement community. Fourteen private residential houses, a local hospital and a school were damaged.
Olena Sitalo, Local Head, said that on 21 March at around 4pm, in Velyka Chernechchyna, Sumy oblast, russian forces struck a summer pavilion of a kindergarten by two Molniia UAVs. Around twenty windows and doors of the facility were damaged. No injuries were reported.
The Prosecutor’s Office informed that at approximately 2:15pm on 21 March, in Mykolaivka rural community of Sumy region, russian forces attacked a vehicle by a drone. A 37-year-old driver was injured.
According to the Regional Military Administration, as of the morning of 22 March, five civilians were injured over the past day as a result of russian shelling in Sumy oblast:
- In Sumy community, a 69-year-old man was injured following a UAV strike;
- In Mykolaivka rural community, men aged 37 and 56 were injured as a result of a drone strike;
- In Mykolaivka settlement community, women aged 69 and 77 were injured following a UAV attack.
Between the morning of 21 March and the morning of 22 March, russian forces carried out more than 110 attacks on 43 settlements across 20 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Over the past day, the air raid alert in the oblast lasted for 19 hours and 45 minutes.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:
- In Esman community, a private household was damaged;
- In Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house was destroyed and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
- In Shostka community, an apartment building was damaged;
- In Bilopillia community, a private residential house was damaged;
- In Sumy community, an educational institution building and private passenger cars were damaged;
- In Mykolaivka rural community, a private residential house, an outbuilding, vehicles and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
- In Krasnopillia community, a private residential house was damaged;
- In Vorozhba community, a non-residential building and a private residential house were damaged;
- In Berezivka community, a warehouse was damaged;
- In Mykolaivka settlement community, private residential houses were damaged.
Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and public organisations, evacuated 66 people from border communities.
Chernihiv oblast
Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of Chernihiv City Military Administration In Chernihiv, reported that during the day of 22 March, an unidentified object exploded in an ATB supermarket on Lotna Street. As a result, four people were injured and taken to hospital. The National Police informed that the explosion occurred during the repulsion of an enemy attack on Chernihiv. Investigative actions are ongoing.
Chernihiv City Council stated on 22 March, a russian UAV crashed in Chernihiv in the area of Mazepa Street. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that during the night of 22 March, russian forces attacked a village in Koriukivka region by UAVs. As a result of strikes on the territory of an agricultural enterprise, one cow was killed. The fire caused by the strike was extinguished by firefighters.
According to Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, at around 12pm on 21 March, russian forces attacked a residential area in the border town of Semenivka. As a result of a Molniia-type strike UAV, windows and the roof of a private house were damaged.
The State Emergency Service reported that during 21 March, two fires occurred in Chernihiv region as a result of falling russian UAVs. In total, 2.2 hectares of dry vegetation burned.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that during 21 March, russian forces attacked five settlements in three border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy carried out strikes using mortars (5 explosions), Molniia-type UAVs (1 explosion) and FPV drones (4 explosions).
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that occupying forces carried out strikes using drones, multiple launch rocket systems and artillery. Attacks targeted the regional centre, as well as Marhanets, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities. A fire broke out. Three apartment buildings and four private houses, three outbuildings, a greenhouse, three vehicles, solar panels, infrastructure and a gas pipeline were damaged.
The enemy struck Petropavlivka and Mykolaivka communities by UAVs. Fires broke out. A private house was destroyed. Five more houses, premises and a non-operational building were damaged. A 22-year-old man was injured as a result of previous attacks.
Following a UAV attack in Ternivka, a summer house was destroyed and an outbuilding caught fire. Enemy UAVs also targeted Sofiivka community. A fire broke out and transport infrastructure was damaged.
In Nikopol, two people were killed following a drone strike in the evening. The enemy continued to attack the region by drones and artillery, targeting the regional centre, as well as Marhanets, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities. Fires broke out. A vehicle was destroyed, and enterprises, a private house and a non-operational building were damaged.
As a result of overnight shelling with multiple launch rocket systems in Pokrovske rural community, a private house was destroyed. Seven houses, four outbuildings, seven gas pipelines and four power lines were damaged.
The enemy struck Kryvyi Rih by UAVs and carried out FPV drone attacks on Zelenodolsk community. A fire broke out, damaging a private house and infrastructure. Following a UAV attack in Novopokrovka community, a vehicle caught fire.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, a rally was held in support of captured and missing persons. Families of missing servicemen from the “Liut” brigade also took part.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, said that air defence units shot down three russian UAVs over Cherkasy oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that a 53-year-old man was killed as a result of a russian attack on Komyshuvakha. The russian forces struck the settlement with guided aerial bombs. Private houses and non-residential buildings were destroyed, and a fire broke out.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 21 March, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 20 russian attacks in Huliaipole, Orikhiv and Oleksandrivka regions. Combat engagements took place near Krasnohirsk and toward Prymorske, Zaliznychne, Varvarivka, Staroukrainka, Olenokostiantynivka, Zelene, Charivne and Myrne.
The RMA informed that on 21 March, russian forces carried out 700 strikes on 39 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Mykolaiv oblast
Referring to the Air Force, on 22 March, UAVs were detected in the airspace moving toward Mykolaiv.
No shelling was recorded in Mykolaiv oblast on 21 March.
Odesa oblast
Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa RMA, reported that russian forces attacked the southern part of Odesa oblast during the day by strike UAVs. Civilian infrastructure facilities were hit, including the territory of a farming enterprise and grain storage hangars. The buildings sustained significant damage but no fires were reported. There were no casualties reported.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railway), during an evacuation amid a drone attack, a train conductor was killed on Odesa Railway. One passenger was injured.
Kherson oblast
Based on the information provided by Kherson RMA, at approximately 12:20pm, russian forces attacked a woman by a drone in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 32-year-old woman was hospitalised with blast trauma, a concussion and an acute stress reaction.
As a result of a russian attack, an elderly resident of Kherson oblast sustained fatal injuries.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
Fighters of Volyn Beavers unit of the 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade create equipment for combat missions in the ground robotic complexes workshop. The unit has been operating for about 2 years.
Zakarpattia oblast
Khust Half Marathon 2026 took place in Khust – the 1st in a series of charity races that will take place in the oblast throughout the year. The event brought together 900 runners from different parts of Ukraine. Traditionally, Khust Half Marathon, like other such sporting events, has a charitable mission: the organizers direct 100% of registration fees to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The 4th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade received 20 FPV drones from Ivano-Frankivsk community.
Lviv oblast
The military received 43 vehicles thanks to the Latvian charitable foundation Entrepreneurs for Peace. They will already be used for the needs of the Ministry of Defense and units of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Rivne oblast
In Rivne oblast, 3 school shelters will be equipped with state funds. The distribution of the subvention has already been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Berezivska and Dubrovytska communities, where the construction of shelters in schools will begin, will receive UAH 79.2m and UAH 61.32m, respectively. Starosilska community will also receive UAH 9.88m for the completion of the work. There, the facility is 82% ready.
Ternopil oblast
Fighters of the 141st Separate Mechanized Brigade received 2 DI Matrice 4T quadcopters, a ground robotic complex (GRC) Murakha-Mini and 20 batteries of significant technical reinforcement from Ternopil community.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
880 Khmelnytskyi residents received material assistance worth UAH 10.6m. Among them are family members of fallen Heroes, military personnel for rehabilitation, and active military personnel for personal expenses.
Chernivtsi oblast
Chernivtsi City Council reported that the community has allocated UAH 6.7m to improve the conditions for children in shelters at educational institutions.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
NATO‘s military command, led by Admiral Pierre Vandieu, has arrived in Ukraine. Parties discussed the involvement of Ukrainian military personnel in Alliance exercises as a Red Team – a hypothetical enemy.
