On 22 January, there were 196 combat clashes. Ukrainian defenders continue to resolutely repel the enemy’s attempts to advance deep into our territory.
russian invaders launched one missile and 70 airstrikes, used one missile and dropped 171 guided bombs. In addition, they involved 2,862 kamikaze drones to destroy them and carried out 2,717 attacks on the positions of our troops and settlements.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were three enemy attacks. The enemy launched three air strikes, dropping five guided bombs and carried out 58 attacks on the positions of our troops and settlements, one of which was from a multiple launch rocket system.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders eight times in the vicinity of the settlements of Prylipka, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory and towards Izbitsky, one battle is ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian soldiers repelled an enemy attack near the settlement of Synkivka.
Towards Lyman, the Defense Forces repelled seven enemy assault actions in the vicinity of the settlements of Myrne, Drobysheve, Kolodiazhi, Zarichne and Yampolivka.
Towards Slaviansk, the enemy attacked twice near the settlement of Sviato-Pokrovske.
Towards Kramatorsk, there were seven enemy assault actions near the settlements of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Chasiv Yar and towards Markove.
Towards Kostiantynivka, there were 20 battles. The enemy stormed the positions of Ukrainian units in the vicnity of the settlements of Predtechyne, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar and Sofiivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy attacked 62 times in the vicinity of the settlements of Shakhove, Ivanivka, Dorozhne, Rodynske, Sukhetske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Horikhove, Dachne and towards Novopavlivka. In some locations, fighting continues to this day. 192 occupiers were neutralized, 150 of whom are irretrievably. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed 11 units of automotive equipment, 40 UAVs and a communications antenna. Ukrainian defenders also hit eight shelters of enemy personnel.
Towards Oleksandrivka, Ukrainian defenders repelled 12 attacks by the invaders in the vicinity of the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Verbove, Stepove, Vyshneve, Krasnohirske and Nechaivka, two more clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the aggressor tried 34 times to advance on the positions of our troops in the vicinity of Solodki, Varvarivka, Huliaipole, Zelene and Dobropillia, two clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian defenders repelled an attack in the area of the settlement of Plavni.
Towards Kherson, there was one unsuccessful attempt by the enemy to improve their position.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
According to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the russian troops attacked Kyiv oblast on the afternoon of 22 January. Debris from enemy UAVs fell in the Vyshhorod district, damaging the windows of a private residential building with the blast wave. Debris also fell on the grounds of a kindergarten. The staff and children were in a shelter at the time, so there were no casualties.
As of the morning of 22 January, nearly 3,000 high-rise buildings in the capital remain without heat. Over the past night, heat was connected to 227 buildings. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, this is the second time these buildings have been connected after the infrastructure was damaged by enemy attacks on 9 and 20 January.
Emergency power cuts continue in Kyiv. Utility workers and energy companies are working around the clock to restore heat and light to Kyiv residents’ homes.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi reported that at the beginning of the week, six teams of Lviv utility workers arrived in the capital with all the necessary equipment. They are working to restore power and internal networks in residential buildings, including water and heat supply. They are also working to defrost heating mains and replace heating pipes.
As a result of russian shelling, one of the capital’s thermal power plants was flooded due to damage to a pipe. This significantly complicated the repair of equipment on which the heat and electricity supply to the homes of thousands of people depends. A unique underwater special operation in freezing conditions of -15 °C was carried out by divers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The special operation lasted six days. The water leak was stopped, allowing the services to continue restoration work.
Poland is transferring 400 generators from state reserves to Kyiv and the oblast. This was announced by Piotr Lukashevich, Poland’s chargé d’affaires in Ukraine.
Another 20 new Turkish-made buses are starting to run on the capital’s routes. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, this is the third batch of buses that Kyiv has received under the agreement on the “Urban Public Transport in Ukraine” project between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank. The new rolling stock will be used to strengthen the city’s transport network, in particular on routes that duplicate electric transport, both on the left and right banks of the capital.
Zhytomyr oblast
On 21 January, Berdychiv saw the grand opening of the Psychosocial Support Centre, a new space providing assistance to veterans, their family members, internally displaced persons, and all those affected by the war. The centre was established on the basis of the Berdychiv City Council’s municipal institution, the Centre for Social Services. According to the Regional State Administration, it has become part of an extensive support network being formed in Zhytomyr oblast.
Sumy oblast
The State Border Guard Service reported that border guards of the Rapid Response Border Commandant’s Office (RRBC) DESTRUCTION TEAM struck russian shelters, UAV control antennas, communications antennas, electronic warfare assets, and enemy personnel towards Northern Sloboda.
Over the past day, from the morning of 21 January to the morning of 22 January, russian forces carried out nearly 20 attacks on 9 settlements across 7 territorial communities of Sumy oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used artillery, FPV drones, and UAVs. During the day, the air raid alert in the oblast lasted 13 hours and 1 minute.
Consequences of russian shelling in Sumy oblast as of the morning of 22 January:
- In Seredyna-Buda community, an FPV drone attack injured two men aged 49 and 55; a private residential house was destroyed and a vehicle damaged;
- A 38-year-old man sought medical assistance after being injured by guided aerial bomb strikes on Bilopillia community on 20 January;
- In Hlukhiv community, apartment buildings were damaged.
Over the past day, 53 people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organisations.
Chernihiv oblast
Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of Chernihiv City Military Administration, reported that on the morning of 22 January, an enemy unmanned aerial vehicle fell on the territory of Chernihiv. As a result, the facade of a multi-storey residential building on the outskirts of the city was damaged. Explosive ordnance disposal specialists of the State Emergency Service in Chernihiv oblast recovered the russian UAV and destroyed it at a designated site in accordance with established procedures.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that during the daytime on 21 January, a “Heran”-type UAV struck the building of an out-of-school educational institution in Snovsk. Firefighters worked at the impact site. The building sustained significant damage.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that over the past day on 21 January, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (5 explosions), launched Shahed-type UAV strikes (1 explosion), and conducted FPV drone attacks (24 explosions). Snovsk town and four villages came under fire.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reported that in the evening, the occupiers attacked the regional centre and Pokrovske community by drones.
As a result of the UAV attack, 8 private houses and 4 vehicles were damaged. In Vasylkivka community, an 81-year-old woman was injured due to a drone strike. An office building and a gas pipeline were damaged. In Kryvyi Rih, a 70-year-old woman was injured. A private house caught fire.
The occupiers attacked the regional centre, Marhanetsk, Pokrovske and Chervonohryhorivka communities. A 67-year-old woman was injured. 4 private houses, a municipal enterprise, an agricultural company, power lines and a gas pipeline were damaged. As a result of the attack in Dnipro, 7 people were injured, including a child. A high-rise building was damaged.
In Kryvyi Rih, 12 people were injured, including 4 children. A apartment building, infrastructure facilities, private houses, an administrative building and vehicles were damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
Students of educational institutions in Yampil community donated nearly UAH 11,500 to volunteers to support the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The funds will be used to purchase communication cables, medicines and materials for making camouflage nets.
Poltava oblast
A serviceman from Karlivka, Viktor Petrovych, was killed in the war. During his service, he held the rank of junior sergeant and served as a tank commander. His death was confirmed following DNA identification. The defender was 47 years old.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, stated that a 75-year-old man was killed and 9 injured. The occupiers carried out 4 strikes on Komyshuvakha village, damaging private houses.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 21 January, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 36 russian attacks on Huliaipole region. In particular, clashes took place in Huliaipole and Solodke regions, and towards Dobropillia, Varvarivka and Sviatopetrivka regions.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, reported that on 21 January, the russian military carried out more than 726 strikes on 30 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. A man was injured as a result of an enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia. In particular, 396 UAVs of various types, mostly FPV drones, attacked Zaporizhzhia, Kushuhum, Novomykolaivka, Ostrovske, Mariivka, Novooleksandrivka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Zelene, Bilohiria, Dorozhnianka, Varvarivka, Solodke and Dobropillia.
Mykolaiv oblast
Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, yesterday, russian forces attacked Ochakiv and Halytsynivka communities 10 times by FPV drones. As a result of the shelling, private houses, a shop and a summer house were damaged.
On the morning of 21 January, the russian military carried out a missile strike on the territory of an enterprise in Mykolaiv oblast. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Referring to Odesa RMA, in Odesa oblast, a russian drone struck between the 18th and 19th floors of a high-rise building without detonation. The facade and glazing were damaged, as well as parked vehicles. 58 people were evacuated from the building, including 8 children. No information about casualties has been reported so far.
As a result of a nighttime russian attack on Odesa oblast, a young man born in 2009 was killed.
Kherson oblast
According to Kherson RMA, at approximately 6:30pm, russian forces attacked Dniprovskyi district of Kherson by a UAV. A man was killed after sustaining injuries incompatible with life.
At around 1:10pm, russian forces attacked a residential building in Novovorontsovka by a UAV. As a result of the strike, a 50-year-old woman was injured in her home. She sustained a concussion, blast injuries and a closed craniocerebral injury. An ambulance crew transported her to hospital in moderate condition.
At approximately 9pm yesterday, russian forces attacked a apartment building in Tsentralnyi district of Kherson by a strike drone. As a result of the hit, a 72-year-old woman who was at home sustained a concussion, blast injuries and a closed craniocerebral injury. She was taken to hospital in moderate condition by an ambulance crew.
On 21 January, due to russian aggression, 1 person was killed and 6 injured. Under enemy drone terror, air strikes and artillery shelling were Antonivka, Molodizhne, Prydniprovske, Sadove, Bilozirka, Berehove, Veletenke, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Novodmytrivka, Tomyna Balka, Yantarne, Stanislav, Sofiivka, Oleksandrivka, Shyroka Balka, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Tokarivka, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Rakivka, Tarasa Shevchenka, Urozhaine, Piatykhatky, Mylove, Novoraisk, Tiahynka, Burhunka, Lvove, Mykhailivka, Odradokamianka, Zolota Balka, Chervonyi Maiak, Vesele and Kherson. The russian forces struck critical and social infrastructure and residential areas across the oblast, damaging 3 high-rise buildings and 5 private houses. Also, a shop was damaged.

Volyn oblast
Chief Sergeant AndriI Sobchuk, Deputy of Pidhaitsivska community in Volyn, soldier of the Legion of Freedom, Commander of the Reconnaissance Company of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General-Coroner Mark Bezruchko, was awarded with the I degree For Courage Order. The award ceremony was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the brigade’s creation.
Zakarpattia oblast
The oblast and the Kosice region are establishing sports cooperation. The Slovak partners presented a certificate and sports equipment to Uzhhorod Lyceum №15 for a total amount of EUR 4,000, which were allocated from the charitable fund of the Kosice Peace Marathon – the oldest such race in Europe and one of the oldest in the world.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk sent 26 sets of batteries and chargers for Mavics to the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov”. The city allocated UAH 500,000 for co-financing of 80/20 projects and programs. The rest was financed by the Power of Good IF Foundation.
Lviv oblast
Sheptytskyi People’s House teams organized another charity event, thanks to which they raised funds for a car and a laptop for the unit of the Molodist ensemble students Nazarii Yaremchuk. They raised: UAH 170,000 for a Honda CR-V car, UAH 7,700 for its maintenance, and UAH 20,770 for an ASUS laptop. They donated UAH 34,300 for Volodymyr Kravchuk’s collection and UAH 1,670 for materials for camouflage nets.
Volunteers from Panevezys region of Lithuania delivered humanitarian support to Ukrainian defenders. They donated equipment worth EUR 6,000: 12 generators, 9 diesel heaters and camouflage nets.
Over UAH 118,000 was raised during a car rally organized by the 80th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. They raised funds for a pickup truck for evacuation worth UAH 450,000.
Rivne oblast
Representatives of the RMA continue to hold meetings in communities with veterans, as well as families of missing and captured servicemen. Over the past year, 48 visits in this format were held in the oblast.
Ternopil oblast
A THE POWER OF TWO new rehabilitation projects is being launched in Ternopil oblast. This project will help veterans and their wives recover after the war. The project involves 8-day psychophysical rehabilitation in a sanatorium, as well as further support through communication in a chat community.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
The military received 2,000 batteries for FPV drones from Khmelnytskyi community.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA held a meeting with media representatives. Chernivtsi RMA projects Hotline was discussed. The Hotline will start operating in the near future.
