Since the start of the day, the aggressor has attacked the positions of the Defence Forces 63 times.
Artillery shelling of border areas continues. Today, the settlements of Korenok, Shalyhine, Ryzhivka and Bezsalivka in Sumy oblast were hit, as was Semenivka in Chernihiv oblast. The enemy carried out air strikes on the areas around the settlements of Chernatske and Zernove in Sumy oblast.
Two clashes took place towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk; the enemy carried out 56 attacks on settlements and our troops’ positions, one of which involved the use of multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy launched six assaults on our units’ positions in the areas around the settlements of Hraniv, Lyman, Radkivka, Vilcha and Starytsia.
Towards Kupiansk, Kramatorsk and Orikhiv, the enemy did not carry out any active operations today.
Towards Lyman, our defenders repelled six attempts by the invaders to advance in the areas around the settlements of Drobysheve, Ozerne and Dibrova.
Towards Sloviansk, the invaders attempted to advance twice in the areas around the settlements of Riznykivka and Kryva Luka. One engagement is still ongoing.
Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders carried out six attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Illinivka and Dovha Balka.
Towards Pokrovsk, since the start of the day, the occupiers have attempted 26 times to dislodge our troops from their positions in the areas around the settlements of Dorozhne, Rodynske, Oleksandrivka, Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske and in the direction of the settlements of Vilne and Hruzke. One engagement is ongoing.
Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy launched a single attack in the vicinity of the settlement of Oleksandrohrad.
Towards Huliaipole, the Defence Forces successfully repelled ten enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Rivnopillia, Radisne, Rybne, Dobropillia, Staroukrainka, Tsvitkove and Charivne. One engagement is ongoing.
Towards Kherson, the Defence Forces halted the enemy, who was attempting to advance towards Bilohrudy Island.
In other directions, there are currently no significant changes in the situation. No enemy attempts to advance have been recorded.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that there is a threat of the front line and hostilities expanding from Belarus. There is evidence that the russians are devising plans for offensive operations from the north.
Heorhii Tykhyi, Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, informed that russia is diverting Ukrainian drones into the airspace of the Baltic states using its electronic warfare capabilities. Neither Estonia, nor Latvia, nor Lithuania, nor Finland have ever allowed their airspace to be used for strikes against russia. Furthermore, Ukraine has never made such requests.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
According to the General Staff, over the past 24 hours, 236 combat engagements were recorded.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked the positions of our units seven times in the areas around the settlements of Starytsia, Vilcha, Prylipka, Veterynarne, and in the direction of Hrafske and Karaichne.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked five times, towards Kurylivka, Petropavlivka, Kivsharivka and Novoplatonivka.
Attacks
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv Civil-Military Administration, reported that at 8:55am, russian forces struck Zolochiv. The strike destroyed a parked car; according to preliminary reports, no one was injured.

At around 5:20am, the russian army attacked Pokotylivka in Kharkiv region with a UAV. A woman was killed and three other people were injured, including a child. According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the injured child is seven years old; her parents suffered acute stress reactions. Residential buildings and cars were damaged in the village; firefighters extinguished the fire.

At around 5am, russian forces struck Novobavarskyi district of Kharkiv twice. Three people were injured, and at least 25 private houses and one high-rise building were damaged. The UAV strike caused the destruction of a residential building and a fire covering an area of 150 sq m, which firefighters fully extinguished at 9:21am.

Viktor Kovalenko, Head of the Zolochiv Civil-Military Administration, reported that at 3:30am, the russians struck a civilian lorry in Zolochiv with an FPV drone using fibre-optic guidance.
At 3am, russian troops attacked a courtyard in Makarove, Zolochiv community. A private house and outbuildings were damaged.
At 1am, the russian army struck Riasne, Zolochiv community, with a Molniya drone. The strike damaged a private house and outbuildings.
In Bohodukhiv, two administrative buildings were damaged; no one was injured
According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration and the regional State Emergency Service, in Shevchenkove on 19 May, a russian drone struck a residential building around midday. The strike caused destruction and a fire covering an area of 150 sq m. A 75-year-old woman died under the rubble, and three other people suffered acute stress reactions. Rescuers recovered the body of the deceased and extinguished the fire; operations continued under the threat of further attacks by FPV drones.

In total, over the past 24 hours, Kharkiv and 13 settlements in the region have come under enemy attack. Two people were killed and 12 injured, including a child. The russian army deployed four KABs, 10 Geran-2 UAVs, 11 Molniya UAVs, 11 FPV drones and 23 unidentified UAVs in the Kharkiv region. Residential buildings, a post office, a medical facility, power lines, a production workshop, a pig farm, a community centre, a hall of residence, an administrative building, warehouses, cars, a garage, a summer kitchen, a tractor and a motorbike were damaged.
Other
Kharkiv Regional Military Administration said tha the transit evacuation centre in Lozova has received 230 people in the last 24 hours. Since the centre opened, 34,901 people have registered there.
Veteran Ihor Shyshko, Founder Support Centre for Military Families, said that the centre has opened in Kharkiv, where families of missing, captured and fallen servicemen can receive assistance. The centre runs psychological sessions and group meetings, as well as providing advice on social and legal matters, including paperwork and dealing with government agencies. Over 150 families have approached the centre in the two weeks since it opened.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian defence forces repelled 40 russian attacks towards Pokrovsk. Russian forces launched assaults near Dorozhne, Shevchenko, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Molodetske, Filiia, Bilytske, Nikanorivka and Pokrovsk.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that towards Kostiantynivka, the occupiers launched 18 attacks, with a further 14 engagements taking place towards Lyman.
Pavlo Palisa, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, said that the russian army will focus on attempts to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk oblast by the end of the year. According to him, the occupiers failed to meet any of their command’s deadlines during the spring offensive.
Attacks
Referring to Kramatorsk City Military Administration and the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, in the morning of 19 May, russian forces launched a massive air strike on Kramatorsk. At around 5:40am, the russian army dropped three guided bombs on the city, believed to be FAB-250s with guidance modules. At least six people aged between 43 and 71 were injured, including three men and three women; one of the victims is in a critical condition.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, on the night of 19 May, the effects of an enemy attack were recorded in the Brovary district. Debris from the downed target caused minor damage to the service balcony of a high-rise building and two cars in Brovary.
Kyiv paid last respects to sisters Lyubava and Vira, killed on 14 May as a result of a russian missile strike on a high-rise building. 12-year-old Lyubava was a student in grade 6A at Kyiv Lyceum No. 323. 17-year-old Vira was a second-year student at the Vocational College of Arts of the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. The girls’ father had previously been killed in the war defending Ukraine. As a reminder, 24 people, including three children, were killed as a result of the russian attack on Kyiv on 14 May.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported that a JICA delegation led by Senior Vice-President Yuko Mitsui visited two artesian pumping stations in Kyiv, where water purification systems capable of uninterrupted operation are being installed. The city received the new equipment from JICA as part of the ‘Emergency Recovery Programme’ – an international technical assistance project. The modern systems are being installed at facilities on which a reliable and uninterrupted water supply for 60,000 Kyiv residents depends.
On 19 May, a rally was held in Kyiv in support of the prisoners of war from the Mariupol garrison. Family members, friends and concerned citizens gathered with Azov flags, placards and photographs of their loved ones. From the morning, people gathered in the city centre on Ivan Franko Square. They then marched to the Cabinet of Ministers.
Specialists from the Kyiv Region Emergency Medical Service took part in a psychological recovery and professional training programme in Warsaw. This programme was organised by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in partnership with the Polish Ministry of Health. During the training, particular attention was paid to practical protocols for action in emergencies, crisis communication and supporting the psychological resilience of emergency medical teams.
Zhytomyr oblast
The Regional Military Administration has announced that the selection process for the head of the state veterans’ centre in Zhytomyr is now underway. Furthermore, to mark the opening of the first seven state veterans’ centres in Ukraine, individuals can receive free training and join the professional team of the state veterans’ centre network. War veterans, their family members, family members of deceased war veterans, and Defenders of Ukraine are invited to take part in the training.
The Department for War Veterans’ Affairs of the Zhytomyr City Council has announced that water-based recreational activities are being organised for veterans and their families in Zhytomyr. In particular, the programme includes: catamaran sailing, psychological activities and socialising with fellow veterans. This format is used for rehabilitation and social adaptation. The first event took place on 18 May.
Sumy oblast
On 19 May, at around 10am, russians struck civilian infrastructure in Hlukhiv community by attack UAVs. As a result of the attack, two men aged 58 and 52 were killed, and four other people were injured — two women and two men. All were hospitalised. Administrative buildings and apartment blocks were damaged in the explosions.
The Municipal Military Administration reported that around 18 windows in three apartment blocks in Kovpakivskyi district of Sumy were damaged by a Molniia strike on the morning of 19 May. Buildings at three private households were also damaged in Stetskivka starosta region. No people were injured.
The Regional Military Administration informed that a resident of Khotin community died in a russian drone attack. The body of the 38-year-old man was found on 19 May on a road between Khotin and Sumy communities. Due to constant shelling, the man had earlier evacuated to Sumy with his family.
Olha Harkavenko, Head of Nova Slobidka community, said that russian forces struck civilian infrastructure in Nova Slobidska community by UAVs overnight on 19 May. A residential house burned down completely following a hit. A Molniia UAV hit outbuildings as well. Agricultural machinery and other equipment belonging to a local farm were damaged. There were no fatalities or injuries.
According to Mykola Noha, Head of Shostka community, russian forces launched a massive overnight attack on Shostka community. Shostka, Obrazhiivka, Ivot and Sobycheve starosta districts came under attack. As a result of the strikes, two houses were destroyed, and 14 residential houses, a house in a dacha area, a cultural centre and a school were damaged.

The Regional Military Administration reported that two people were injured as a result of enemy strikes in Sumy oblast over the past day, as of the morning of 19 May. In Svesa community, a 20-year-old man was injured in an enemy drone strike. In Shostka community, a 52-year-old man was injured in an enemy UAV strike.
Over the day, from the morning of 18 May to the morning of 19 May, russian forces carried out almost 110 attacks on 45 settlements in 17 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, multiple-launch rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Over the day, air alerts in the oblast lasted 21 hours and 57 minutes.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
▪️in Myropillia community, a private residential house was destroyed;
▪️in Velyka Pysarivka community, a private residential house and a passenger car were damaged;
▪️in Buryn community, private residential houses, a civilian infrastructure facility, cars and an outbuilding were damaged;
▪️in Hlukhiv community, civilian infrastructure facilities, an apartment block and a private passenger car were damaged;
▪️in Krasnopillia community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
▪️in Mykolaivka rural community, a civilian infrastructure facility, a private residential house and an outbuilding were damaged;
▪️in Nova Slobidka community, a private residential house, outbuildings and non-residential premises were damaged;
▪️in Shostka community, an administrative building was destroyed, and private residential houses, an outbuilding and non-residential premises were damaged;
▪️in Putyvl community, a private residential house was damaged;
▪️in Khutir-Mykhailivskyi community, a private residential house was damaged;
▪️in Esman community, a private residential house was destroyed, and a private residential house and outbuildings were damaged;
▪️in Znob-Novhorodske community, a private residential house was damaged;
▪️in Shalyhyne community, a private residential house was destroyed.
Over the day, local authorities, together with units of State Emergency Service, National Police and public organisations, evacuated 28 people from border communities.
Mine clearance continues in Sumy oblast. Over the week, 82 munitions were destroyed, including two aerial bombs. Dangerous items were found during this period in Sumy, Konotop, Romny, Okhtyrka and Shostka regions. Since the beginning of the year, pyrotechnic teams of the State Emergency Service have found 922 explosive items.
Chernihiv oblast
The Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that at around 10am on 19 May, russians attacked the centre of Pryluky by a ballistic missile. Three people were killed, including a 15-year-old boy who died in hospital from his injuries. A total of 29 people are known to have been injured, five of them in serious condition. The strike hit one of the city’s enterprises. A shopping centre near the strike site, a supermarket and fire equipment were also damaged.
According to the Regional Police, the attack on Pryluky damaged enterprises, three shopping centres, 17 shops, pharmacies, a kindergarten and educational institutions, apartment blocks, private residential houses and more than 30 vehicles.
Volodymyr Chernov, Head of Pryluky District Military Administration, said that russian forces carried out the strike on Pryluky on 19 May by a cluster-type ballistic missile. International humanitarian law prohibits the use of cluster munitions in populated areas. This is a gross violation of the rules of warfare.

Serhii Kramarenko, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, informed that on 19 May, at around 9am, russian forces struck a checkpoint in Chernihiv region by a drone. There were no injuries following the hit.
Naftogaz of Ukraine reported that on the morning of 19 May, russian forces struck several gas infrastructure facilities in Chernihiv oblast. Drone hits caused destruction of critical equipment at production facilities. Personnel at one of the attacked facilities were evacuated. There were no casualties. According to the company, russian army has been attacking its facilities for the third consecutive day.
The State Emergency Service in Chernihiv oblast informed that an 85-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man were injured in a russian strike on a private residential area of Chernihiv on 18 May. Residential houses were damaged by the blast wave. A hit was also recorded on the territory of an enterprise, where a petrol tanker caught fire. Rescuers promptly extinguished the fire.


Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that on 18 May, russian forces attacked the border village of Shyshkivka in Koriukivka community, Chernihiv oblast, by FPV drones. As a result of the attack, a home, outbuildings and a motorcycle caught fire. The 45-year-old owner was injured.
Over the day on 18 May, the enemy struck Chernihiv region. In villages of Liubech community, a house and a car were damaged. In Horodnia community, Herbera UAV strikes damaged vehicles on the territory of a forestry. In Ripky community, a lorry caught fire.
According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, on 18 May, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Semenivka, Snovsk and Horodnia. The enemy carried out attacks by mortars (15 explosions), tube artillery (seven explosions), Molniia UAVs (one explosion) and FPV drones (seven explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (two explosions). Eleven settlements came under enemy fire.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Nikopol region. The enemy attacked the region mainly by FPV drones and also shelled it with artillery. They targeted Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrovske rural communities. A 22-year-old man was injured. An administrative building and a private house were damaged, while a car was destroyed and damaged.
Kryvyi Rih region. In Kryvyi Rih, a 41-year-old woman was injured as a result of a UAV attack. Private houses were damaged. The occupiers struck Lozuvatka community by UAVs. A fire broke out. Infrastructure was damaged.
Samar region. As a result of a UAV attack in Pereshchepyne community, fires broke out. Premises, a garage, an administrative building and infrastructure were damaged.
Nikopol region. 2 men aged 58 and 67 were injured in Marhanets and Nikopol. The enemy targeted the regional centre, Myrove, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrovske rural communities by drones and artillery. Fires broke out. 3 private houses and 1 apartment building, an outbuilding, vehicles, a fire truck and a gas station were damaged.
Synelnykove region. In Pokrovske community, a 68-year-old man was injured due to an FPV attack. Dubovykivka community was attacked by guided aerial bombs. A house and a non-operational building caught fire.
Kirovohrad oblast
3 communities in Kirovohrad oblast paid tribute to fallen soldiers. These are Oleh Rachynskyi from Oleksandriia city, Hryhorii Boholiubskyi from Bobrynets and Volodymyr Kalinchuk from Dobrovelychkivka settlement.
Oleh Rachynskyi was killed on 25 April 2025, in Kramatorsk region of Donetsk oblast.
Hryhorii Boholiubskyi was killed on 2 May near Kruhle village in Chuhuiv region of Kharkiv oblast.
Volodymyr Kalinchuk was killed on 9 May 2025, near Zelene Pole village in Donetsk oblast.
In Kropyvnytskyi, a memorial ceremony was held for soldiers Serhii Hostyk, Roman Hadzhyiev, Oleksii Kasianenko and Andrii Holub.
Roman Hadzhyiev was killed on 11 May in the area of Starodubivka village in Donetsk oblast. He was 38 years old.
Andrii Holub was killed on 4 May while carrying out a combat mission near Kytsivka village in Chuhuiv region of Kharkiv oblast. He was 39 years old.
Oleksii Kasianenko went missing on 6 January 2025, while carrying out a combat mission. His death was confirmed by a DNA examination. He was 42 years old.
Serhii Hostyk had been considered missing since September 2024. His death was confirmed by a DNA examination. He was 50 years old.
On 15 May, 58-year-old serviceman Yurii Yeremenko from Kropyvnytskyi returned from russian captivity. The man volunteered to defend Ukraine. He had been held captive since October 2022. Yurii Yeremenko is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
Poltava oblast
After the missile strike on Poltava oblast, 16 rescuers remain under treatment. The condition of most rescuers injured as a result of the russian shelling of Poltava oblast on 5 May remains moderate. Currently, 12 State Emergency Service employees are in hospitals, while 4 others are undergoing outpatient treatment.
A memorial ceremony for 3 defenders was held at the Holy Dormition Cathedral. They are Junior Sergeant Olha Novikova, a native of Kramatorsk city in Donetsk oblast, Sergeant Oleksandr Ladatko and Oleksandr Driapak from Poltava oblast.
Olha Novikova was killed while performing military duty on 15 January 2026, in Sumy oblast. She is survived by 3 sons.
Oleksandr Ladatko was killed in battle on 17 May 2026.
Oleksandr Driapak was killed on 2 February 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk oblast.
Vitalii Diakivnych, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that sarcophagi are being built in Poltava oblast. Work is underway to protect critical infrastructure facilities from russian shelling. This is being done within the framework of the region’s resilience plan.
Cherkasy oblast
In Uman, people paid tribute to Vadym Korshko, a 27-year-old soldier in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He was killed on 26 March 2025, in battle near Huievo settlement in sudzha region of kursk oblast, russia.
In Chornobai community, fallen serviceman Vitalii Yevmyna will be laid to rest. He was killed on 2 September 2024, in the area of Lisivka village in Pokrovsk region of Donetsk oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that the russian military again attacked Zaporizhzhia by drones. As a result of the shelling, a fire broke out and buildings and an industrial facility were damaged.
The RMA informed that russian troops attacked Bilenke village by guided aerial bombs. As a result of the shelling, private houses and high-rise buildings were damaged.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that the russian military attacked Zaporizhzhia, causing a fire in an extension of a private residential house.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 18 May, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 23 russian attacks on Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions. In particular, combat clashes occurred near Shcherbaky and towards Zlahoda, Nove Zaporizhzhia, Charivne, Tsvitkove, Rivne, Zaliznychne, Rybne, Staroukrainka and Hirke.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that on 18 May, russian troops carried out more than 850 strikes on 47 settlements of Zaporizhzhia oblast. The occupiers are most frequently attacked by drones, mainly FPV drones.
Mykolaiv oblast
Based on the information provided by Mykolaiv RMA, during 18 May, the russian military attacked Kutsurub community twice and also targeted Halytsynove community by one UAV. As a result, one private house was damaged in Lupareve village. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Referring to Izmail RMA, at night, russia attacked Izmail region of Odesa oblast. As a result of a UAV strike, a fire broke out in an empty warehouse facility.
Kherson oblast
According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, at approximately 4:50pm, russians attacked a motorcyclist by a drone in Zelenivka. A 48-year-old man was taken to the hospital. Preliminary reports indicate he sustained blast injuries.
At approximately 2:15pm, russians attacked a man by a drone in Komyshany. As a result of the enemy strike, the 51-year-old resident sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to the chest and shoulder.
At approximately 11:40am, russians attacked a man by a drone in Zelenivka. A 75-year-old resident was injured in the enemy strike. Preliminary reports indicate he sustained blast injuries.
At approximately 9:30am, russian troops shelled Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 45-year-old man came under enemy attack. Preliminary reports indicate he sustained mine-blast injuries.
At around 5am, russians attacked a man by a drone in Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 68-year-old Kherson resident was taken to the hospital with blast injuries and traumatic amputation of a leg.
As a result of yesterday’s russian attack in Korabelnyi district of Kherson, an 85-year-old Kherson resident was diagnosed with blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to the arm and leg.

Volyn oblast
A unique Resilience Center with free support groups has been opened in the Mizotsk community. This large-scale social project is being implemented by the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
Zakarpattia oblast
An international conference was held in Uzhhorod, bringing together over 110 scientists, graduate students, and experts to discuss the transformation of the world order. In the thematic sections, about 30 Zakarpattia scientists will present their work, offering solutions to current humanitarian, economic, and other challenges.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
3 families of defenders from Horodenkiv community went on a week-long vacation to Yaremche as part of the regional project Caring for the Hero’s Family. They are being hosted by the Mizhhiria hotel.
Lviv oblast
In the near future, Lviv oblast will host over 400 children from Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts as part of the Carpathian Change project. These are children of soldiers, police officers, and representatives of other law enforcement agencies.
Rivne oblast
The Government has allocated over UAH 138m to create a modern educational space in schools in Rivne oblast. Of these, UAH 75m is within the framework of the New Ukrainian School reform; UAH 60m is for the purchase of modern equipment for STEM laboratories and classrooms in lyceums that will pilot a senior specialized school; UAH 3m is for the arrangement of centers for teaching the Defense of Ukraine subject.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil community sent 4 AUTEL EVO MAX 4T quadcopters to the 4th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
6 households in Khmelnytskyi community received financial assistance to eliminate the consequences of the attacks. The total amount of assistance is over UAH 400,000.
Chernivtsi oblast
A memorial plaque was unveiled on the Alley of Glory in honor of the fallen Anatolii Bakhtin, machine-gun platoon of the Military Unit A 4856 in the village of Cheponosy, Rukshynskyi territorial community. Since 3 January 2024, after fierce fighting near the village of Bohdanivka, Donetsk oblast, the serviceman was considered missing.
