It has been the 1547  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm: 

On 20 May, the aggressor attacked the positions of the Defense Forces 38 times.

Artillery shelling of border areas continues. In Sumy oblast, the following settlements were affected: Budky, Korenok, Novovasylivka, Bachivsk, Sopych, Rohizne, Ryzhivka, Potapivka, Iskryskivshchyna, and Ulanove; in Chernihiv oblast—Khrinivka. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of Pustohorod and Tovstodubove in Sumy oblast.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were three combat engagements; the enemy carried out one airstrike using two guided aerial bombs and conducted 38 attacks on settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops, one of which involved multiple launch rocket systems.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy stormed the positions of Ukrainian units once in the vicinity of Starytsia.

Towards Kupiansk, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Kherson, the enemy conducted no offensive operations today.

Towards Lyman, Ukrainian defenders stopped three attempts by the invaders to advance in the vicinity of Drobysheve, Lyman, and Yampil.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders carried out five attacks in the vicinity of Kostiantynivka, Toretske, and Kucheriv Yar. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers tried 10 times to push Ukrainian warriors from their positions in the vicinity of Rodynske, Hryshyne, Novooleksandrivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, and Molodetske. One combat engagement is ongoing.

Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy advanced four times in the vicinity of Oleksandrohrad and Kalynivske.

Towards Huilaipole, the Defense Forces repelled 15 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Nove Zaporizhzhia, Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Huilaipilske, Olenokostiantynivka, and Charivne. Four combat engagements are ongoing.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy conducted one offensive operation in the vicinity of Shcherbaky.

In other directions, there are currently no significant changes in the situation. No enemy attempts to advance were recorded.

Ukrainian troops exhaust the enemy along the entire line of combat engagement and in the rear.


The SBU detected an elevated radiation background on the wreckage of a drone that russia used to attack Chernihiv oblast in April. This refers to fragments of an R-60 missile, which russian troops deploy alongside Geran-2 drones, found near the settlement of Kamka. Studies showed that the missile’s warhead contained depleted uranium elements—Uranium-235 and Uranium-238. The SBU added that the missile has already been transported to a radioactive waste storage facility.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were 250 combat engagements in the oblast. Towards Southern Sloboda, russian troops stormed positions of the Defense Forces 11 times in the vicinity of Izbytske, Hraniv, Lyman, Radkivka, Vilcha, Vovchanski Khutory, and Starytsia. Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders stopped one attack by the russian army in the vicinity of Novoplatonivka.

At the Khartia command post, a commander of the 1st Battalion’s 3rd Company, callsign “Zanuda,” stated that as of May 18, there are no russian troop concentrations in Kupiansk. According to him, the occupiers who remained in the city after the Defense Forces’ counter-operation were destroyed or captured; over the past two months, only a few russian infantrymen managed to infiltrate Kupiansk.

Shelling

Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv Settlement Military Administration, reported that at 06:30, russian troops struck Zolochiv, preliminarily with an FPV drone. The strike hit a road near a yard, partially damaging a private house.

The Center for Mine Action Coordination reported that at around 06:00, an explosion caused by an unknown device occurred in a field in Hontarivka, Chuhuiv region. Preliminarily, one person was injured.

Halyna Minaieva, Mayor of Chuhuiv, reported that a russian missile strike was recorded in the Velyka Babka starostat of Chuhuiv community. The hit targeted the territory of an agricultural enterprise, damaging warehouses. No people were injured.

Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reports that over the past day, Kharkiv and 21 other settlements in the region came under enemy fire. One person was killed, and six others were injured, including a child: a 75-year-old woman was killed in Shevchenkove, where women aged 38, 53, and 57 were also injured; a 52-year-old woman was injured in Spodobivka, Shevchenkove community; a 48-year-old man was wounded in Svitlychne, Zolochiv community; and a 16-year-old girl was injured in Kharkiv.

According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, russian troops used UAVs to attack the Novobavarskyi and Kholodnohirskyi districts of Kharkiv. Throughout the day, the russian army deployed nine Geran-2 UAVs, seven Molniya UAVs, eight FPV drones, and 12 unidentified drones across Kharkiv oblast.

In Kharkiv, a private house, a warehouse, and railway infrastructure were damaged. In Bohodukhiv, Kupiansk, Izium, and Kharkiv regions, residential buildings, administrative buildings, warehouses, a cemetery area, a hangar, a residential care facility, outbuildings, cars, a tractor, and other civilian infrastructure objects were damaged.

The State Emergency Service reported that in Bohodukhiv community, sappers neutralized a russian Molniya drone carrying an anti-transport mine. The drone lost control and crashed onto the roof of a two-story residential building.

Nova Poshta reported that on May 19, russian drones struck its depot No. 6 in Kharkiv three times. Employees were not injured; the evaluation of building destruction and cargo damage is ongoing. In the Novobavarskyi district, the hits caused a fire; while it was being extinguished, the russian army launched a repeat UAV strike, damaging the windshield of a fire tank truck. The rescuers were not injured as they were in a shelter.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that over the past day, russian strikes destroyed more than 20 private houses in the Zolochiv community of Bohodukhiv district. According to him, the intensity of russian attacks on the community has not decreased, while attacks on Bohodukhiv have slightly subsided.

Other

Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reports that the transit evacuation point in Lozova received 182 people over the past day. Since the point began operating, 35,083 people have been registered there.

50-year-old Serhii and his mother Halyna, who were evacuated last week from a village near Vovchansk using a ground robotic complex, had already moved to Kharkiv in 2023 but returned home six months later. According to Serhii, after his mother suffered a stroke, he wanted to evacuate her again, but civilian drivers refused to travel to their settlement due to the danger.

Yuliia Sikalenko, founder of the NGO Common Cause for People, stated that nearly 5,000 medicine vouchers are being distributed to internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, and pensioners with chronic diseases in Kharkiv and the oblast. As of mid-May, 3,700 of the planned 4,725 vouchers had been issued.

Volodymyr Bielyi, Mayor of Bohodukhiv, reported that Oleksandr Zakoretskyi, a defender from Merlo who spent over four years in captivity, has returned from russian captivity.

In Kharkiv, the winners of the second “Generation Nika” award were honored. The results were announced on May 19, the birthday of artist Veronika Kozhushko, who was killed by a russian strike. This year, the number of award participants grew by 45%, with a total of 246 applications received.

Donetsk oblast

Frontline

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, towards Pokrovsk, the Defense Forces repelled 43 assaults. russian troops attacked in the vicinity of Dorozhnie, Rodynske, Oleksandrivka, Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, Kotlyne, Novopavlivka, Novooleksandrivka, Udachne, and Molodetske, and in the direction of Kucheriv Yar, Vilne, Serhiivka, and Hruzke.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that towards Kostiantynivka, the russian army attacked 14 times, while Ukrainian troops stopped another 11 assaults towards Lyman.

Volodymyr Polevyi, spokesperson for the 7th Air Assault Forces Corps, stated that Ukrainian troops towards Pokrovsk are holding the line under tactically unfavorable conditions. According to him, russian troops are exploiting the terrain and stretching the frontline, leaving some of the defenders in a “pocket” and forcing them to conduct logistics under the threat of russian drone strikes.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian troops struck two pontoon-bridge crossings of the russian army in temporarily occupied Donetsk oblast and also attacked a concentration of russian soldiers near Rodynske.

The 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade reported that towards Lyman, fighters from the MARA unmanned systems battalion detected and destroyed a russian armored vehicle at a firing position. Following strikes by FPV drones, the hardware caught fire and was rendered combat-ineffective.

Shelling

Vadym Liakh, Head of Sloviansk City Military Administration, reported that overnight, the russian army attacked the areas of Sloviansk six times with drones. Seven private houses, outbuildings, and cars were damaged. There were no dead or injured.

Donetsk Regional Police reported that throughout May 19, police recorded 1,281 strikes by the russian army on the frontline and residential sector of Donetsk oblast. Six settlements were under fire: Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, Sviatohirsk, Sloviansk, and Kurytsyne. 38 civilian objects sustained damage, including 19 residential buildings.

russian troops attacked Kramatorsk 10 times, notably dropping six KAB-250 guided bombs on the city. Nine civilians were injured. Nine apartment buildings, eight private houses, an educational institution, four garages, a civilian car, and a state flag were damaged.

The russian army struck Druzhkivka with three FPV drones. Two people were injured; an apartment building and a car were damaged.

In Sloviansk, an enterprise and an outbuilding were damaged as a result of six shellings. An apartment building was damaged in Mykolaivka, and civilian infrastructure was damaged in Sviatohirsk.

Other

The 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade reported that its fighters evacuated two wounded comrades and five civilians from the combat zone towards Lyman. Notably, the military saved a mother and her 7-year-old child.

Kramatorsk City Council reported that due to the threat of repeated russian strikes, the flagpole, which stands over 80 meters high, will remain without the state flag for the near future.

Luhansk oblast

Towards Lyman, russian troops tried to advance 11 times in the vicinity of four settlements over the past day, according to Oleksii Kharchenko, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration. In Luhansk oblast, the occupiers struck with mortars, tube artillery, and MLRS, and deployed 11 UAVs.

In Sievierodonetsk, residents of apartment buildings in the new districts received notices regarding debts for centralized heating, which was virtually non-existent in many buildings. Due to the lack of internet, lists of debtors are posted on paper notices in building entrances. In some buildings, debt amounts range from 19,000 to 28,000 rubles, even though heating was either not provided at all or was only launched in 2026.

Oleksii Kharchenko, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, reported that in occupied Luhansk oblast, the russians are attempting to draw youth into the military system through online enrollment into pre-higher educational institutions subordinated to the russian ministry of defense, specifically Cossack cadet corps. This allows parents to register children for these institutions remotely.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Demining operations are ongoing in Kyiv oblast. On 20 May, in the Vyshhorod district, bomb disposal experts from the State Emergency Service were clearing explosive ordnance. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration warned local residents to be aware of the sounds of explosions.

The District State Administration has announced that a blood donation drive will be held in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv on 22 May. The mobile blood donation hub “Teplokrovni” will be operating on site. In the 13-metre-long hub, visitors can view an interactive exhibition about blood on the ground floor and donate blood on the first floor. Blood typing will also be available free of charge.

An event for the emotional recovery of veterans, “A Starry Day with the Taste of Dreams”, took place at the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ “Pushcha-Vodytsia” Rehabilitation Centre. Around 100 military personnel took part in the musical gathering featuring Ukrainian artists. The guests not only performed for the defenders but also chatted with them and thanked them for defending the Motherland.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr oblast, the social project ‘Active Parks – The Path to Victory’ continues to develop actively, bringing communities together around a healthy lifestyle, physical activity and support for people’s mental and emotional well-being during the war. Between April and December 2025, 19 coordinators worked across 15 oblast communities. During this time, 2,710 sporting events were organised and held, involving nearly 56,900 residents and around 4,800 internally displaced persons.

In Berezivka, plans are underway to build a new general practice family medicine clinic. The clinic will be inclusive, have 12 beds for day care and will serve nearly 3,000 residents from four surrounding villages. According to the Prozorro procurement system, the construction is expected to cost 19.6 million hryvnias.

Sumy oblast

Sumy Regional Military Administration reported on the evening of 19 May that Defence Forces units had destroyed and jammed more than 1,300 enemy UAVs using electronic warfare systems over the past week. These included 1,135 attack drones and 27 reconnaissance drones.

In total, almost 1,700 enemy UAVs were detected in the skies over the oblast during this period. According to the Territorial Defence Zone Headquarters, 79% of enemy targets were destroyed or jammed.

Sumy Regional Military Administration informed on the evening of 20 May that a russian drone attacked a civilian lorry in Buryn community. As a result of the enemy strike, a 52-year-old man was seriously injured. He sustained multiple wounds and burns. The injured man was hospitalised.

On the night of 20 May, russian army attacked Konotop by UAVs. An apartment block, a city hospital and a museum were damaged. Since the night, a search and rescue operation has been under way in the community at the site of the enemy strike. As a result of the strike, one person was killed and 11 were injured. All are receiving the necessary medical assistance.

Artem Semenikhin, Mayor, said that three floors collapsed in an apartment block after a UAV strike in Konotop. The body of the woman killed was found in the morning under the rubble of the building hit by a russian UAV. She had turned 94 on Sunday.

Sumy branch of Gazmerezhi reported that part of consumers in Konotop had temporarily been left without gas supply due to hostilities.

Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that in Buryn community, the enemy deliberately attacked a civilian car by a drone. As a result of the strike, a 48-year-old female passenger was killed and the 58-year-old driver was injured. The man was taken to hospital.

According to Sumy City Military Administration, two enemy UAVs hit Velyka Chernechchyna starostat. An FPV drone strike damaged the façade of a grocery shop. Another FPV drone hit a household plot.

Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that as a result of enemy strikes in Sumy oblast over the past day, as of the morning of 20 May, four civilians were killed and 21 people were injured.

Over the day, from the morning of 19 May to the morning of 20 May, russian troops carried out more than 80 attacks on 31 settlements in 16 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy, Shostka and Konotop regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Over the day, the air raid alert in the oblast lasted 19 hours and 12 minutes.

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

▪️in Krolevets community, a general secondary school building was damaged;

▪️in Sumy community, private residential houses, a non-residential premises, a civilian infrastructure facility and lorries were damaged;

▪️in Bilopillia community, apartment blocks, private residential houses and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;

▪️in Buryn community, a private residential house was destroyed, while private residential houses, cars and an outbuilding were damaged;

▪️in Hlukhiv community, apartment blocks, a private residential house, an educational institution building, non-residential buildings and cars were damaged;

▪️in Komyshany community, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;

▪️in Velyka Pysarivka community, private residential houses were destroyed;

▪️in Chernechchyna community, private residential houses, an outbuilding and a non-residential premises were damaged;

▪️in Khutir-Mykhailivskyi community, a car was damaged;

▪️in Shostka community, private residential houses were destroyed, while a private residential house and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;

▪️in Konotop community, apartment blocks, private residential houses and administrative buildings were damaged;

▪️in Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house was destroyed, while a private residential house and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;

▪️in Esman community, a private residential house was destroyed.

Over the day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, National Police and non-governmental organisations, evacuated eight people from border communities.

Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office informed that since 2022, four criminal proceedings have been opened in Sumy oblast over strikes by russian military forces on public transport and route taxis. The cases concern four air strikes by UAVs of various types on route taxis in Sumy region. Three attacks took place in 2025, and another one this year. As a result of the attacks, 13 people were killed and 41 others were injured.

Chernihiv oblast

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that at about 4:20pm on 20 May, russian military forces attacked a farm vehicle by a UAV in Pohoriltsi village, Semenivka community. As a result of the hit, one person was killed and two others were injured.

Vyacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that on the morning of 20 May, russian army attacked a recreation complex in Baturyn community by a UAV. A fire broke out as a result of the hit. One person was injured in the strike. A car was destroyed.

Chernihiv Regional Military Administration informed that the number of people killed as a result of the russian missile attack on Pryluky on 19 May had risen to four. On the morning of 20 May, a man born in 1974, who had been in intensive care with serious injuries, died in hospital. As a result of the attack on 19 May, a 52-year-old man, a 49-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were killed.

According to Volodymyr Chernov, Head of Pryluky Regional Military Administration, as of 6:30pm, the number of people injured as a result of the russian ballistic missile strike on central Pryluky on 19 May had risen to 34. Four of them are in serious condition.

Vyacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that on 19 May, russian Heran UAVs struck oil and gas infrastructure in Pryluky and Nizhyn region. Fires broke out in border villages of Chernihiv region as a result of UAV strikes. Two cars were damaged in Chernihiv. In Koriukivka region, an FPV drone struck the territory of a forestry in Snovsk area, and a communications facility was also hit. In a village of Semenivka community, Novhorod-Siverskyi region, a former sawmill was damaged as a result of a Lancet UAV strike.

According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, on 19 May, russian troops attacked five border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Snovsk, Horodnia and Ripky. The enemy carried out strikes by mortars, causing seven explosions; a Herbera-type UAV, causing one explosion; FPV drones, causing nine explosions; and dropped explosive devices from UAVs, causing two explosions. Nine settlements came under enemy fire.

State Environmental Inspectorate in Chernihiv oblast informed that a russian UAV strike in Chernihiv in April 2026 caused more than UAH 132m. in environmental damage. During a visit to the site, environmental inspectors confirmed the destruction of a private residential house and contamination of the land plot with structural debris and construction waste.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Vinnytsia oblast

It became known that eight defenders from Vinnytsia oblast had been killed. They were Volodymyr Bilousov, Mykola Vivsianyi, Roman Stasenko, Serhii Mykolenko, Ihor Huchko, Anatolii Benedychuk, Andrii Pustovit and Rostyslav Horbatiuk.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

East Air Command reported that the military shot down 17 enemy UAVs over the oblast overnight.

Dnipro region. As a result of the overnight attack in Dnipro, two people were killed. Six people were injured. A fire broke out. Five private houses, an outbuilding and food warehouses were damaged. UAVs also struck Petrykivka community. Infrastructure was damaged.

Nikopol region. The occupiers attacked Nikopol, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrovske rural communities by drones and artillery. An apartment block was damaged. Three more homes, a car and a gas pipeline were damaged as a result of yesterday’s attacks.

Kamianske region. An enterprise was damaged in Kamianske.

Nikopol region. A 46-year-old woman was killed in Pokrovske community. The occupiers struck the regional centre, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrovske rural communities by drones. A kindergarten, a private house, a garage, a gas pipeline, a power line and infrastructure were damaged.

Synelnykove region. In Mezhova community, a 63-year-old woman was injured in an FPV drone strike.

Pokrovske community was attacked by guided aerial bombs. A private house and an outbuilding caught fire, and two private houses were damaged.

Kryvyi Rih region. russians struck Zelenodolsk and Hrechanopodivka communities by UAVs. A 56-year-old man was injured, and infrastructure was damaged.

Kamianske region. The enemy attacked Kamianske by UAVs. A fire broke out, and a private house, an enterprise and infrastructure were damaged.

Kirovohrad oblast

Communities in Kirovohrad oblast paid tribute to servicemen. They were Oleksandr Kalinichev from Pishchanobrid community and Petro Mileiko from Blahovishchenske community.

Oleksandr Kalinichev was killed on 13 May 2026 while carrying out a combat mission in the vicinity of the village of Kolomiitsi, Synelnykove region, Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

Petro Mileiko was killed on 7 May 2026 while carrying out a combat mission in the vicinity of the settlement of Dovha Balka, Kramatorsk region, Donetsk oblast.

In Kropyvnytskyi, serviceman Oleksandr Ishchenko of the 5th Separate Assault Brigade, who was released from russian captivity on 24 April, was welcomed. He had been in captivity since November 2023.

Poltava oblast

Two soldiers from Poltava oblast were killed on the front line. They were Dmytro Holota and Roman Shamota. The death of Armed Forces of Ukraine serviceman Dmytro Holota from Orzhytsia community was confirmed following DNA testing. The defender had been considered missing since October 2024.

Roman Shamota, a soldier from Drabynivka community, was also killed in the war with russia. This happened on 11 May 2026 while he was carrying out a combat mission.

At the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Orthodox Church of Ukraine residents paid tribute to Andrii Musiienko, a fallen serviceman from Poltava. He was killed on 12 May 2026 while carrying out a combat mission in Kharkiv oblast.

Cherkasy oblast

Armed Forces of Ukraine serviceman Anton Kashpirevych from Khrystynivka area was killed in Donetsk oblast. He was killed on 12 May 2026 while carrying out a combat mission in the vicinity of the settlement of Vasylivska Pustosh, Kramatorsk region, Donetsk oblast.

Cherkasy paid tribute to two servicemen, 28-year-old Mykola Isakov and 38-year-old Artem Bezzubets. Both had been considered missing for more than a year while carrying out combat missions.

Mykola Isakov was killed on 9 February 2025 during a combat mission after sustaining fatal injuries.

Artem Bezzubets was killed on 9 April 2025 in Sumy oblast during combat as a result of mortar shelling and explosive fragmentation injuries.

Ihor Myklashchuk, Head of Uman Regional Military Administration, reported that three fallen defenders from Uman region were honoured with state awards. Ihor Andriiovych Les was awarded the Order For Courage, 3rd Class, while Yurii Petrovych Zraichenko and Vitalii Volodymyrovych Lohin were awarded the honorary badge Combatant’s Cross. Their relatives received the awards. 

In Bobrytsia community, released defender Oleksandr Bondarenko was welcomed after captivity. He went missing during hostilities near Klishchiivka village, near Bakhmut. He had spent more than two and a half years in Chechnya.

Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that on 19 May, the occupiers carried out 909 strikes on 42 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces launched 21 airstrikes on Komyshuvakha, Zarichne, Trudove, Novooleksandrivka, Bilenke, Lysohirka, Hryhorivka, Blahodatne, Olenivka, Lystivka, Novoukrainka, Omelnyk, Vozdvyzhivka, Novodanylivka, Vasylivske, Soniachne, Chervonyi Yar, Kopani, Charivne, and Novoselivka. 590 UAVs of various types, mostly FPV drones, attacked Zaporizhzhia, Chervonodniprovka, Novoiakovlivka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Lukianivske, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Huliaipilske, Verkhnia Tersa, Staroukrainka, Sviatopetrivka, Olenokostiantynivka, Vozdvyzhivka, Dobropillia, Nove Zaporizhzhia, and Rybne. An MLRS strike on Huliaipilske was also recorded. russian forces carried out 297 artillery strikes on Novoyakovlivka, Chervonodniprovka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Pavlivka, Lukianivske, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Huliaipilske, Verkhnia Tersa, Staroukrainka, Sviatopetrivka, Olenokostiantynivka, Vozdvyzhivka, Dobropillia, and Nove Zaporizhzhia. Authorities received 95 reports of damage to infrastructure facilities, homes, vehicles, and outbuildings. Seven people, including three children, were injured as a result of enemy attacks on Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia region.

According to the General Staff, as of 16:00 on 20 May, the Defense Forces were repelling 15 enemy attacks toward the settlements of Nove Zaporizhzhia, Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske, Olenokostiantynivka, and Charivne towards Huliaipole. Four clashes were ongoing. The enemy conducted one offensive action near Shcherbaky towards Orikhiv. Over the previous day, 19 May, the Defense Forces repelled 23 russian attacks towards Huliaipole.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that during the night of 20 May, the Defense Forces struck a UAV command post near Huliaipole, as well as a concentration of occupying forces near the settlement of Novoukrainka in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The extent of losses and damage is being clarified.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that on 19 May, the enemy struck the city of Ochakiv, preliminarily using MLRS. As a result of the shelling, two people were injured: a 57-year-old woman was hospitalized, while a 68-year-old woman received emergency medical assistance on site. In addition, one apartment building, five private houses, six vehicles, and two garages were damaged.

Modular homes for internally displaced persons and a feldsher-midwife station were opened in Novyi Buh community. With financial support from the Ukraine Recovery Fund, a Danish charitable foundation, the community implemented two infrastructure projects that included the construction of four single-family modular housing units for temporary accommodation of IDPs and a feldsher-midwife station. The total cost of the projects exceeded 17 million hryvnias.

Odesa oblast

Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that during the night of 20 May, the enemy once again launched a massive drone attack on Odesa oblast. In Odesa, a drone struck a single-story residential building, completely destroying it. A warehouse containing tableware and an unfinished high-rise building were also damaged. Debris fell on the territory of a park, where a fire broke out and was later extinguished. One person was injured as a result of the nighttime attack on the city.

According to the press service of DTEK Odesa Electric Grids, during the night of 20 May, russians attacked one of the company’s energy facilities in Odesa. Tens of thousands of Odesa residents were left without electricity.

The State Emergency Service in Odesa oblast reported that rescuers and explosive ordnance disposal specialists neutralized the warhead of a russian Shahed-type drone that became lodged in the facade of a 24-story residential building after the attack. Its high-explosive incendiary warhead, weighing more than 50 kilograms, did not detonate.

Kherson oblast

The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that a woman died in hospital after coming under russian shelling on the morning of 13 May in Korabelnyi district of Kherson.

Today, 20 May, at around 11:30, russian occupiers attacked Bilozerka with a drone. As a result of the strike, a 55-year-old woman sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to the face.

At approximately 07:00, russians attacked a milk truck with a drone in the village of Rakivka in Beryslav community. Two men suffered concussions, blast injuries, and closed head injuries, while one of them also sustained a shrapnel wound to the leg.

According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, five residents of the region sought medical assistance today after being injured in previous russian attacks. A 76-year-old resident of Komyshany sustained blast injuries, a concussion, and shrapnel wounds to the arm and torso as a result of a russian drone attack the day before. Three other residents of Komyshany who were injured during russian shelling yesterday suffered blast injuries and concussions. A woman who was injured on 13 May during a russian drone strike on a bus in Bilozerka was diagnosed with blast injuries and a concussion.

The Police of Kherson oblast reported that on 19 May, the russian forces attacked Kherson, Antonivka, Fedorivka, Zelenivka, Sofiivka, Sadove, Shyroka Balka, Mykilske, Nadiivka, Komyshany, Stanislav, Oleksandrivka, Poniativka, Ulianovka, Beryslav, Zolota Balka, Novovorontsovka, Mala Oleksandrivka, Piatykhatky, Zaporizhzhia, Trudoliubivka, Novoraisk, Ukrainka, Dobrianka, Kucherske, Kozatske, and Vesele. The attacks damaged an apartment building, 14 private homes, a medical facility, a factory, a club building, a store, eight vehicles, and a garage. As a result of russian aggression, one person was killed and 10 were injured, including a police officer.

On 19 May and during the night of 20 May, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of important russian military targets in the region. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian troops hit russian command and observation posts near Liubymivka on the temporarily occupied left bank of Kherson oblast.

The 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade received a Mercedes-Benz Vito minibus thanks to the funds of entrepreneurs and employees of Ternopil City Council.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community sent 15 Starlinks, 2 antenna amplifiers, and 2 good electronic warfare systems worth UAH 1.6 m to the military thanks to budget funds.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi patrols practiced their skills in recognizing explosive objects. On mock-ups, they practiced everything that might be needed on a real call: how to recognize a dangerous object, what to do immediately after detection, and how not to put themselves or others at risk.
