Towards Kurakhove, russian army attacked 26 times near Tsukuryn, Ukrainsk, Heorhiivka, Dalnie, and Kostiantynivka. Twenty-three attempts to advance were already repelled.

The military operation is ongoing in Kursk oblast. russian aviation continues to attack its villages and towns. There were twelve strikes with sixteen KABs on their own territory.
Viktor Liashko, Ukraine’s Minister of Health, reported that every fifth ambulance has been lost as a result of russia’s full-scale aggression. The aggressor state’s army is specifically targeting ambulances with FPV drones. Such attacks have been recorded in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions. A total of 584 ambulances have been lost.
Dmytro Lubinets, Ukraine’s Commissioner for Human Rights, reported that about 40% of those returned from captivity were initially reported missing under special circumstances and had not been confirmed by the ICRC.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff said that russians conducted ten attacks near Chasiv Yar towards Kramatorsk. They also attacked near Klishchiyivka, Bila Hora and Stupochky.
Most of the russian army’s assaults took place towards Pokrovsk, where the occupiers conducted 51 attacks. russians continue to concentrate their forces near Novohrodivka and Hrodivka.
Ukrainian troops stopped another 49 attacks towards Kurakhove. Here, russian troops are putting pressure near Hirnyk, Tsukuryno and Heorhiivka.
Kharkiv oblast
At 03:50, in Tsupivka village, Kharkiv region a house was damaged as a result of the shelling.
The day before at 15:27, in Kharkiv, a three-storey administrative building burned down as a result of a shelling by an unidentified aerial vehicle. A 15-year-old boy was injured, he was not hospitalised.
At 15:25, in Cherkaska Lozova village, Kharkiv region, the grass was burning on the area of 10 hectares as a result of the shelling.
At 15:17, in Kharkiv, Kyivskyi district, 8 people were injured as a result of a strike by an unidentified aerial vehicle, including four rescuers. According to Olena Shapoval, Spokesperson for the head of the military administration, one of the rescuers is in a stable serious condition, the other three wounded are in satisfactory condition. Among the civilians, two men aged 25 and 33 and two women aged 19 and 22 were injured.
At 17:20, in Odnorobivka village, Bohodukhiv region, as a result of the shelling, a one-storey residential building and grass on the open territory on the area of 2 hectares burned.
At 16:35, in Zahryzove village, Izium region, the grass was burning on the area of 0,4 hectares.
At 15:25, in the village of Odnorobivka, Bohodukhiv region, ss a result of the shelling six two-storey buildings and 2 private houses were damaged. A 56-year-old woman was injured.
At 13:35, in the village of Podoly, Kupiansk region, as a result of the shelling the outbuildings and houses were burning.
Towards Kharkiv, one combat engagement took place in the vicinity of Vovchansk.
With the support of enemy aircraft, 13 hostile attacks took place towards Kupiansk over the last day. Ukrainian defence forces repelled enemy assaults near Synkivka, Novoosynove, Kruhliakivka, Andriivka, Kolisnykivka, Petropavlivka and Lozova.
Kharkiv military industrial complex reports that the new mines used by the russian federation are similar in principle and size to the PFM-1 ‘Petal’ mines prohibited by international conventions. These are pressure-acting mines, they have a 3D-printed body with a fuze and a charge of plastid inside.
In Kharkiv oblast, more than 7,500 children take part in classes under the catch-up programme. This project is being implemented by Kharkiv Regional Military Administration in cooperation with UNICEF, with the support of local communities and educational institutions. Donetsk oblast
Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office reported that six people were wounded in the shelling of Kostiantynivka and Malynivka on the morning of 18 September.
In Malynivka, the occupiers hit a farm and wounded three men, while the russian army shelled Kostiantynivka with cannon artillery, wounding two men and a woman.

One person was injured in russian attacks in Donetsk oblast yesterday, and police are recording war crimes.
The enemy fired 2,660 times at the frontline and residential areas.
Explosions occurred in 9 localities: the towns of Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Kurakhove, Lyman, Toretsk, Bilenke, Dachne, Ivanopillia and Rivne.
12 civilian objects were damaged – 5 residential buildings, an enterprise, an educational institution and critical infrastructure.

Luhansk oblast
The security situation in the de-occupied settlements is difficult. The invaders sent 62 unmanned aerial vehicles towards Nevske, where people still live. They shelled the village with rocket and cannon artillery. They also shelled Makiivka. In total, russians opened fire 130 times in this section of the frontline. Enemy aircraft attacked with unguided aerial missiles near Tverdokhlibove. Fighting took place near Andriivka, Makiivka and Nevske.
During the academic year 2024-2025, the russian Ministry of Education recommends that educational institutions in the occupied territories of Luhansk oblast hold 218 propaganda events for young people. That is, approximately one event every day.

Kyiv oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that at night and in the morning the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast with drones. Air defence forces were deployed, targets downed, no hits to critical or residential infrastructure detected, no casualties. The wreckage of downed targets is falling outside of settlements in open areas. A dry grass fire was extinguished in one of the districts.
Kyiv mayor Vitali Klychko informed that on 18 September, Kyiv community handed over another 1,000 FPV drones to the 3rd separate assault brigade. In total, this year the capital has already allocated UAH 8.6 billion to Ukrainian defenders.
Kyiv oblast congratulated the oblast’s Paralympians on their worthy performance in Paris. Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, presented silver medallists Illia Yaremenko (swimming) and Liudmyla Danylina (athletics) with certificates for UAH 700,000 each, and their coaches with UAH 300,000 each. All other Paralympians will receive a monthly scholarship of UAH 10,000.
Zhytomyr oblast
Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration announced the meeting with a delegation from Estonian International Development Cooperation Centre (ESTDEV) on 18 September 2024. During the meeting, the results of cooperation in 2024 and ESTDEV’s plans for 2025 were discussed. Vitaliy Bunechko noted the importance of partnership with Estonian colleagues, emphasising the already significant results for Zhytomyr oblast. Margus Gehring, Head of Restoration and Cooperation with Ukraine at ESTDEV, shared plans for 2025, stressing that Estonia is ready to continue supporting Zhytomyr oblast and implement new projects.
The RMA informed about handing over a Citroen Jumper minibus to the medical service of one of the unmanned systems battalions that are currently rescuing Ukrainian soldiers in Donetsk oblast thanks to cooperation with the Development of Drevlyanshchyna Charitable Foundation and the Ukrainian Rescue Service. The vehicle was filled with the most necessary medical equipment and supplies. The package included first aid kits, stretchers, rescue belts, RPS belts, clothing, footwear and more than 400 kg of food to support our soldiers. In addition, new generators, car tyres and car mats were delivered.
The RMA reported that on 18 Septembe,r Vitaliy Bunechko presented a certificate for UAH 1, 860.000 to Ukrainian athlete Anastasiia Rybachok, a canoeist, for winning a silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games. This is a recognition of her achievements not only in the international arena, but also a significant contribution to supporting the oblast’s sports elite.
Sumy oblast
Iryna Yukhta, Head of Krasnopillia community, reported that on the morning of 18 September, the russian army shelled Krasnopillia community in Sumy oblast. A man born in 1975 was injured. The injured man died on the way to Sumy in an ambulance. Additionally, about 10 private houses, the administrative building of a municipal enterprise, and a kindergarten were damaged in the community. It is also known that a power line and a gas pipeline were damaged.
Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that during the night of 18 September, the russian forces attacked energy facilities in the city of Sumy. The attack on Sumy was likely carried out with an Iskander-M missile and Shahed-type drones. One civilian was injured, and critical infrastructure facilities were damaged.
During night and morning, russians carried out 37 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 57 explosions. The attacks targeted Sumy, Mykolaivka, Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl and Shalyhyne communities.
During the day, 17 September, russians carried out 92 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 183 explosions. The attacks targeted Sumy, Mykolaivka, Yunakivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Khotin, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Druzhbivka, Nova Slobidka, Seredyna-Buda, Shalyhyne, Putyvl, Richky, Esman and Hlukhiv community.

Chernihiv oblast
Throughout the day, russian forces attacked villages in four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Snovsk, Semenivka, Horodnia and Novhorod-Siverskyi communities. As a result of the shelling of the villages of the Semeniv community, 12 residential and non-residential buildings burned down. A person was also injured.
Hovhorod-Siverskyi community:
4 explosions (explosive devices dropped from UAVa) in Hremiach.
Semenivka community:
44 explosions (likely by a 120mm mortar, MLPS, barrel artillery, drops from UAVs and by FPV-drone) towards Buchky, Karpovychi, Halahanivka, Zarichchia, Semenivka, Leonivka, Bleshnia, Mykolaivka and Prohres. In the latter village, as a result of shelling, four residential buildings and eight farm buildings burned down. A local resident also received a shrapnel wound and was evacuated to the hospital.
Snovsk community:
9 explosions (likely by a 120mm mortar) towards Kliusy and Yeline.
Horodnia community:
2 explosions (explosive devices dropped from UAVs) in Senkitsi.
No casualties or injuries among the local population were reported as a result of the shelling.
According to Serhii Zhuk, Head of the State Environmental Inspectorate, the water quality in the Seim and Desna rivers in Chernihiv oblast is improving. These are the results of research published by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine as of 17 September. No new fish die-offs have been recorded at any of the monitoring points in Chernihiv oblast for three consecutive days. Additionally, there has been a decrease in the manganese content in the water. Currently, the level exceeds the norm by 1.5times, compared to 2.6times as recorded on 15 September..
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
The Air Force was on alert in the oblast at night. A reconnaissance drone was shot down .
In the evening, on 17 September, the russian army attacked Nikopol region. The occupiers attacked Chervonohryhorivka community with a kamikaze drone. There were no casualties.
A 42-year-old man was killed in the district centre as a result of hostile attacks in Nikopol. A 36-year-old woman is in serious condition in hospital. A 9-year-old boy was injured in Marganets. The child was hospitalised. Two women aged 43 and 69 will be treated at home. In total, there were about a dozen attacks in the area during the day, on 18 September. The occupants shelled Nikopol, Marhanets and Pokrovka communities. Five apartment buildings, two educational institutions, administrative buildings, shops, a post office, a pharmacy, a hairdresser’s, and several cars were damaged. Kryvyi Rih region was shelled. The aggressor hit Hrushevska community with a kamikaze drone.
Vinnytsia oblast
It became known that eleven defenders from Vinnytsia oblast were killed. In particular, Oleksandr Zlotkovskyi, Oleksandr Oleksiyenko, Oleksandr Smirnov, Ihor Rozhko, Ihor Mustaka, Dmytro Radych, Oleksandr Chernuta, Mykola Shestopalko, Serhii Lochman, Oleksandr Chaban and Anatoliy Barladin.
Serhii Morhunov, Mayor of Vinnytsa, announced that the oblast delivered almost 1500 FPV drones, 15 Mavic 3-Ts, 3 cars, two buggies, another mobile bath, 6 thermal imagers and 17,000 dry showers to the defenders.
Serhii Morhunov, Mayor of Vinnytsa, said that Vinnytsia Main Police Department purchased nine off-road vehicles for the police rifle battalion with the subvention. In total, UAH 1.2bn is allocated in the communities budget for the Security and Defence priority. UAH 800m is already in the troops.
Air defence systems were operating in Vinnytsia oblast at night. There were no casualties.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovohrad RMA, reported that in Kropyvnytskyi, several residential buildings were damaged as a result of the russian attack. A fire broke out in one of the yards. A local resident was killed. A 90-year-old woman was injured. After the enemy attack, experts examined almost two dozen yards to determine the extent of damage to each household. According to preliminary findings, the roofs of 6 houses were damaged, and 66 windows need to be replaced. Teams from 10 April and the Red Cross have already started delivering construction materials to people. At the same time, the rubble is being cleared. All relevant services and utilities of the regional centre are providing the necessary assistance.
In Kirovohrad oblast, 26-year-old Vitalii Rysich and 53-year-old Viacheslav Bulhar, who died in Donetsk oblast, will be paid tribute to.
Poltava oblast
Filip Pronin, Head of Poltava RMA, reported that at night, a civilian power system in Poltava oblast came under fire from the russian army.
Four soldiers from Poltava were killed in the war with russia. One of them was Oleksandr Vasyltsov, who was killed on 12 September 2024 in Kursk oblast of russia. The soldier was 35 years old. Viacheslav Chuhuivets, was killed on 13 September 2023 in Donetsk oblast. Leonid Krivoshein was killed on 10 September 2024 in Donetsk oblast.
Oleksandr Liaturinskyi was killed on 12 September 2024 in Kursk oblast of russia. It happened during a combat mission. The soldier was 49 years old.
A plaque in memory of soldier Andrii Bezpalko was installed on the facade of Poltava Lyceum No. 33. It was unveiled on 18 September by family and friends. The 43-year-old soldier was killed in Donetsk oblast in 2022.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, said that in Cherkasy oblast, air defence and electronic warfare forces destroyed 16 russian UAVs. There were no casualties. In one case, a fire broke out in the forest due to falling debris.
In Cherkasy oblast, residents of the Chervona Sloboda community gave the last rites to fallen defender Anatoliy Tertychnyi. The soldier was killed on 7 September while performing a combat mission in Sumy oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
On the night of 18 September, russian forces attacked the peaceful village of Komyshuvakha. Two people were killed, and five others were injured as a result of enemy airstrikes. The attack hit a private house, completely destroying the building, which subsequently caught fire. Charitable organizations are providing humanitarian and psychological assistance to residents, and emergency services are working to eliminate the consequences of the strike.

Yesterday, the occupiers carried out 197 attacks on 11 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces launched 11 airstrikes on Novoiakovlivka, Komyshuvakha, Mala Tokmachka, and Bilohiria. 64 UAVs of various modifications attacked Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Poltavka, and Malynivka. Six MLRS strikes targeted Huliaipole and Novodanylivka. There were 116 artillery strikes on Prymorske, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, and Poltavka. It is reported that the occupation forces launched four assaults on UAF positions near Mala Tokmachka and Novodanylivka towards Orikhiv. According to the General Staff’s report, one battle is still ongoing.
Representatives of diplomatic missions from four European countries—Norway, Austria, Finland, and Spain—visited frontline Zaporizhzhia. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen partnerships between EU countries and Zaporizhzhia oblast for future cooperation. The guests were briefed on UNICEF projects in Zaporizhzhia, including the construction of shelters in schools and the development of underground schools.
Mykolaiv oblast
On the night of 18 September, air defense forces shot down four Shahed 131/136 drones in Mykolaiv oblast .
On 17 September, the enemy carried out five attacks with FPV drones on Kutsurub community. On the night of 18 September, at 03:45, the enemy launched a cruise missile attack, reportedly an X-59. The attack caused a fire in dry grass on the territory of an agricultural enterprise. The blast damaged agricultural machinery and destroyed a fence.
The full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine caused nearly 90 billion UAH in environmental damage to Mykolaiv oblast. The greatest losses have been in the protected area of Kinburn Spit, which has been under russian occupation as of 18 September, 2024. Scientists will assess and document the impact of the hostilities on the peninsula remotely using satellite images.
Taxpayers in Mykolaiv oblast contributed nearly 600 million UAH to support the Ukrainian army and strengthen national defense by paying military levies. From January to August 2024, revenues taxes from residents exceeded the amount from the same period last year by nearly 25 million UAH.
Odesa oblast
As of 6am, there was 1 enemy ship in the Black Sea carrying Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo of up to 4 missiles. There were 5 enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, 4 of which were Kalibr cruise missile carriers, with a total salvo of up to 32 missiles.
During the past day, 2 vessels transited through the Kerch Strait to the Black Sea, and 6 ships passed into the Sea of Azov in russia’s interest.
An additional nearly 300 million UAH was allocated for military needs. These funds are included in the city program “Safe Odesa City.” At a budget committee meeting before the session, it was revealed that the city council had received requests for funding from the military.
Kherson oblast
russians attacked Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. As a result of the enemy shelling, a 45-year-old woman sustained explosive trauma and contusions. Additionally, a 58-year-old man received explosive trauma and a leg injury from the detonation of a drone-delivered explosive.
Kherson Regional Military Administration reported injuries from shelling in Kherson. Specifically, a 53-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man were diagnosed with acute stress reactions. Two residents of Antonivka, who were injured in a recent russian shelling, sustained explosive injuries and contusions. A 38-year-old man, who was injured in a recent russian shelling of Kherson, has been diagnosed with explosive trauma and contusions.
Yesterday, areas affected by enemy fire and airstrikes included Prydniprovske, Antonivka, Zelene, Inzhenerne, Sadove, Kizomys, Komyshany, Dniprovske, Bilozirka, Honcharne, Beryslav, Mykhailivka, Tavriiske, Zolota Balka, Havrylivka, and the city of Kherson. It is reported that russian invaders attacked Ukrainian positions 5 times. They faced strong resistance, suffered losses, and retreated. Over the past day, russian invaders’ losses amounted to 62 personnel. 4 ammunition storage sites and 4 bunkers were struck.
Activists from the Yellow Ribbon movement reported that mass apartment checks are being conducted in the occupied Henichesk by russian occupation forces. According to local residents, the occupiers are actively searching for men of conscription age for forced mobilization.

Lutsk community sent a DJI Mavic 3T Enterprise and a DJI Mavic 3 Pro quadcopters to the Military Unit A 5015.
Zakarpattia oblast
For the 197th anniversary of Berdiansk, Uzhhorod opened a photo exhibition Berdiansk Zashkvar by Oleksandr Pylypenko and Nataliia Kryvoruchko, who recorded the process of occupation and life in the city for 37 days after the start of the full-scale invasion. In Zakarpattia oblast, this exhibition was held for the 3rd time. It was organised for the 1st time in September 2022.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
2 powerful DJI Matrice 300 RTK quadcopters with a night vision camera worth almost UAH 1.2m were sent to the military formations of Prykarpattia. Everything was purchased with funds from the regional budget as part of targeted programs to support military formations of the oblast.
Lviv oblast
The RMA held a meeting with Sean Doble, representative of the Silent Bridge American organisation, which has been active in the fight against human trafficking and protection of victims of gender-based violence for five years. With the support of the organisation, a shelter for victims of violence was opened in Lviv oblast.
A memorial plaque in memory of Ivan Lopushanskyi, military man of the 14th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great, was installed in Drohobych region. He was killed on 8 September 2017.
Rivne oblast
Rivne RMA selected 12 public initiatives to support veterans for joint implementation. Among the selected practices are psychological support, mentoring in business creation, the opportunity to do sports, art therapy, canister therapy, and others.
Rivne oblast is switching to cloud cyber protection. 19 out of 64 communities of the oblast have already implemented the Cisco Umbrella cyber protection service. This was also done by all 4 regional administrations and over half of the structural subdivisions of the RMA. Cisco Umbrella is a modern cloud service aimed at protecting all incoming and outgoing traffic of connected Internet resources. Cisco Umbrella works through the Domain Name System.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil oblast plans to increase the production of radio-electronic warfare equipment that helps the Armed Forces fight against enemy drones. The RMA will promote the cooperation of manufacturers with the Ministry of Defense to bring local products to the all-Ukrainian level.
18 servicemen will receive UAH 10,000 each for treatment and rehabilitation, for a total of UAH 180,000. In total, since the beginning of the year, 162 servicemen of Ternopil community have received such assistance.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
The RMA reported that military exercises took place in Khmelnytskyi community.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Cap Anamur CF. The organisation has been working in war and crisis zones for over 40 years, helping people after natural disasters and in various emergency situations. Since mid-March 2022, the Cap Anamur CF has been working with Ukraine. Parties discussed possibilities of cooperation in already launched humanitarian projects and implementation of new joint initiatives.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Ukraine will receive an additional €100m in aid from Germany this winter. This decision was made against the background of a series of russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure, which led to a complete blackout in some parts of Ukraine.
Laurinas Kaschyunas, Minister of Defense of Lithuania, announced that by the end of the year, the country plans to transfer €50m in aid to Ukraine. In particular, the country wants to invest €10m in the production of the Palianyitsia missile UAV complex on the territory of Ukraine, as well as provide radars, demining equipment and short-range air defence systems.
Moldova will receive a loan from Canada to support Ukrainian refugees. The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the state will provide Moldova with a 10-year sovereign loan through the World Bank.
Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, held a video conference with Andri Lutersson, newly appointed foreign policy advisor to the Prime Minister of Iceland. They discussed creation of international mechanisms to hold russia accountable for its crimes in Ukraine.
