What happened in Ukraine today:
Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:
On November 18, there were 79 combat engagements.
The enemy shelled the border settlements of Bobylivka and Brusky in the Sumy oblast, as well as Khrinivka in the Chernihiv oblast with artillery and mortars.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were two combat engagements. In addition, the enemy launched one airstrike, dropping four guided bombs and carried out 78 shelling attacks, including one from multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, Ukrainian troops repelled three enemy assaults near Vovchansk and towards Kolodiazne. Two more combat engagements are currently ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy made four attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses near Petropavlivka, Pishchane and Kupiansk.
Towards Lyman, russian troops carried out five assaults near Korovii Yar, Stavky, Drobysheve and Lyman. Two combat engagements are currently ongoing.
Towards Sloviansk, The Defence Forces repelled one enemy assault near Serebrianka.
Towards Kramatorsk, russian troops carried out one assault in the areas of Bondarne, which was repelled.
Towards Kostiantynivka,russian troops carried out 12 assaults near Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, as well as towards Kostiantynivka, Stepanivka and Sofiivka. Three combat engagements are currently ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk,the enemy made 30 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their positions near the settlements of Shakhove, Nove Shakhove, Chervonyi Lyman, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Rivne, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia and Dachne. Ukrainian defenders have already repelled 25 attacks. Fighting continues in five locations.
Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy attempted to break through the positions of Ukrainian troops near the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Sosnivka, Verbove, Oleksiivka, Pryvilne, Pavlivka and Krasnohirske. The Defence Forces have repelled nine enemy assaults, and one is still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, Ukrainian units repelled nine attacks in the areas of Dobropillia, Zelenyi Hai, Zatyshshia, Vesele. Four combat engagements are still ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy conducted one attack on Ukrainian positions in the area of Prymorske. Zaliznychne came under an airstrike with unguided rockets.
Towards Kherson,the enemy made one unsuccessful attempt to advance on Ukrainian positions.
Ukraine plans to build a plant for the production of Gripen fighter jets by 2033.
On 7 November, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine announced the signing of a memorandum with the Swedish company Saab on launching the production of Gripen fighters at Ukrainian facilities.
The agreement provides for a gradual localisation of production — from large-unit assembly to the manufacturing of individual aircraft components. This was reported by Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, Denys Shmyhal.
The Ministry of Defence has presented the “Wounded Service Member Package.”
The Ministry has developed and begun procuring adaptive clothing featuring a loose fit and textile fasteners. This will allow medics to gain immediate and painless access to injured areas, while enabling service members to feel more comfortable and autonomous. The clothing will also take into account the specific needs of both women and men.
It is expected that by the end of 2025, wounded service members will receive more than 450,000 units of adaptive clothing and 50,000 hygiene kits.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
Over the past day, 151 combat clashes were recorded.
Towards South Slobozhanske, the enemy stormed the positions of our units six times near Vovchansk and towards the settlement of Dvorichanske.
Towards Kupiansk, there were three attacks by the occupiers during the day. The defence forces repelled the enemy’s assault in the areas of the settlements of Pishchane and Stepova Novoselivka.
Attacks
Over the past day, five settlements in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy strikes.
Eleven people were injured as a result of the shelling, including a child. Another child was killed.
In the town of Berestyn, a 17-year-old girl was killed and 10 people were injured: men aged 31, 26, 33, 29, and 50, women aged 74, 70, 30, and 36, and a 16-year-old boy. In the village of Kotivka, Barvinkivka community, an 80-year-old woman was injured.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:
▪️4 missiles (type to be determined);
▪️6 Geran-2 UAVs;
▪️16 UAVs (type to be determined).
Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:
▪️a private house was damaged in Izium region (village of Kotivka);
▪️railway infrastructure was damaged in Lozova region (town of Lozova);
▪️in Berestyn region, an apartment building and two private houses, four administrative buildings, power lines, railway infrastructure, a shop, and a bus were damaged (Berestinsky town).
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 52 people during the day. Seven people remained.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
Sergeant Vasyl Denysiuk of the 66th Mechanised Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave said that russian forces towards Lyman attack the positions of the 66th Brigade daily with waves of infantry and FPV drones. Ukrainian troops are destroying the occupiers on the approaches, countering drones, and preparing for a possible transfer of equipment in winter.
Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces Robert “Madiar” Brovdi confirmed that Ukrainian drones struck Zuivka and Starobeshivka thermal power plants in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk oblast.
The General Staff stated that russian troops reduced the number of attacks in most areas of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts over the past day.
Towards Pokrovsk, russian troops stormed the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine 40 times, compared to 75 attacks the day before. There were 20 attacks towards Kostiantynivka, compared to 32 the day before. The number of russian battles towards Lyman also decreased from 23 to 9.
Attacks
According to Vadym Liakh, Head of the Military-Civilian Administration, on 18 November, the russian army struck the industrial zone of the city of Sloviansk with two FAB-250 bombs. There were no casualties.
Horbunov, Head of the Military-Civilian Administration, reported that on 18 November, the russian army fired on the city of Kostiantynivka with barrel artillery. As a result, one person was wounded at their place of residence.
Horbunov added that there were no injuries or fatalities as a result of the russian strike with three Smerch multiple launch rocket systems on the city of Kostiantynivka on 18 November. According to him, the facades of six multi-storey buildings were damaged.

On 17 November, the police recorded 2,019 shellings along the front line and in residential areas.
Eight settlements were under attack: Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, Sloviansk, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Kindrativka and Shevchenko.
Ten civilian objects were destroyed, including three residential buildings.
The russians struck Kramatorsk three times, injuring a civilian and damaging a private house and three cars.
In Kindrativka, Druzhkivka community, an enemy FPV drone targeted a civilian car, injuring one person.
The occupiers attacked Druzhkivka with three FPV drones, damaging an educational institution, critical infrastructure, and a civilian car.
The enemy directed two Geran-2 UAVs at Sloviansk, damaging two private houses.
In Mykolaivka, an Italmas UAV strike damaged an infrastructure facility.
Other
In the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk oblast, interruptions in heat supply began on the night of 18 November, as well as electricity in some areas. Zuivka and Starobeshivka thermal power plants are responsible for heating in this part of Donetsk oblast. The Centre for the Study of Occupation writes that on the night of 18 November, the central and southern parts of the region, in particular residents and facilities in Donetsk, Horlivka, Yasynuvata, Makiivka and surrounding areas, were left without electricity.
Luhansk oblast
The occupiers attempted to break through our defences nine times towards Lyman. They attempted ten more times on the Sloviansk section. Ukrainian defenders are holding back the enemy’s advance there. The russians used barrel artillery five times in our area of responsibility. Their combat missions were carried out by unmanned aerial vehicles and FPV drones.
The so-called ‘nationalisation’ of immovable property continues throughout the occupied Luhansk oblast. In Markivka, the invaders have announced another list of 50 residential properties that they intend to “seize” from the locals within a month. The procedure is the same: the owner has 30 days from the date of publication of the announcement to be found. They must not only find out about the occupiers’ intentions in time, but also manage to return from a safer place of residence and collect all the necessary documents.
In Kadiivka, people complain about constant cuts in the centralised water supply and the poor quality of drinking water when it is available. There have been several accidents on the water pipes around the city this autumn. However, the russians are not bothering with a major overhaul of the system. No one adheres to the existing water supply schedules, which the population follows. For instance, in one of the districts, water appeared in the taps only once in three weeks.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The construction of protective structures for energy facilities worth UAH 2.7 billion has been completed in the capital. According to the deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Petro Panteleev, the construction was financed exclusively from the city budget and the Kyivteploenergo enterprise. At the same time, a large-scale project to create distributed cogeneration facilities, which includes second-level protection, is underway.
According to the decision made by the Kyiv Defence Council, in Kyiv, during an air raid alert, traffic on the South Bridge will be restricted for both private and public transport. Buses running from the right to the left bank of the Dnipro will change their routes during the restrictions.
The Department of Social and Veteran Policy reported that a comprehensive support system for veterans and their families has been implemented in the regional centre. As of today, 1,350 people have received more than 8,500 various support measures.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that the 4th ‘Four-Legged Defenders’ award ceremony took place in the capital. During the event, the work of dog handlers and their service dogs was evaluated. In the ‘Mine Detection Dogs’ category, the award went to Kyiv oblast police dog handler Maxim Alexandrov and his dog Zhuzha. This year, they made 53 trips, helped to uncover 43 crimes. Consequently, law enforcement officers seized weapons, ammunition and explosive devices.
Donetsk Regional State Administration reported that on 19 November, the National Museum of Literature in Kyiv will open an exhibition entitled ‘Careful, Fragile!’, dedicated to the destroyed stained-glass windows of Mariupol. The exhibition is based on a photo project by Mariupol photographer and journalist Ivan Stanislavsky, who documented the artistic masterpieces destroyed during the russian occupation of the city. The exhibition will run until the end of 2025.
Zhytomyr oblast
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that last week, pyrotechnicians defused two artillery shells from World War II that were found in a forest near the village of Stavy in the Radomyshl community of the Zhytomyr district.
Sumy oblast
On the morning of 18 November the General Staff reported that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, seven combat engagements took place over the past day. In addition, russian forces carried out six airstrikes, dropping 14 guided bombs, and conducted 148 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including eight using multiple launch rocket systems.
Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of the Municipal Military Administration, said that at 11:15am on 18 November, russian forces attacked Sumy by drones. The strike hit a non-residential area in Kovpakivskyi district of the city. No injuries were reported.
the Regional Military Administration informed that in Velyka Pysarivka community, a 60-year-old man was killed in a russian drone attack on 16 November.
Between the morning of 17 November and the morning of 18 November, russian forces carried out more than 30 attacks on 19 settlements across 8 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (nearly 20 strikes) and launched FPV drone attacks. Over the course of the day, air raid alerts in the oblast lasted a total of 14 hours and 52 minutes.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed:
* in Seredyna-Buda community, a multi-storey residential building was damaged;
* in Znob-Novhorodske community, private residential houses and non-residential buildings were damaged;
* in Esman community, a private house and non-residential premises were destroyed;
* in Shalyhyne community, a private house was destroyed;
* in Velyka Pysarivka community, a vehicle was damaged on 16 November.
Chernihiv oblast
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that during the night of 18 November, russian forces struck the border town of Horodnia. Two local women, aged 75 and 72, were killed in the attack. Houses were damaged, and a non-operational industrial building was also hit. Fires broke out at the impact sites and were extinguished by firefighters.
According to Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment, on 17 November, russian forces attacked Semenivka and Horodnia communities in Chernihiv oblast. A total of 14 strikes on three settlements were recorded. The enemy carried out mortar attacks (9 explosions), FPV drone strikes (3 explosions) and Shahed UAV strikes (2 explosions).
The State Environmental Inspectorate in Chernihiv oblast informed that a fire broke out at an enterprise in Chernihiv after russian UAV strikes ignited fuel, burning for nearly two days. As a result, almost 17,000 tonnes of pollutants were released into the atmosphere. Environmental damage from the air pollution is estimated at more than UAH 371m..
Andrii Podorvan, Adviser to Head of the Regional Military Administration, said that Chernihiv oblast is forming teams of specialists to supply mobile network stations with generator power in the event of prolonged electricity outages. Local communities will designate the personnel responsible for maintaining the equipment.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
The enemy carried out a massive drone attack on the oblast. Air defence forces shot down 33 UAVs.
Dnipropetrovsk oblast. In Dnipro city, a 67-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman were injured. Fires broke out and the building of the television centre, a vehicle service station and dozens of cars were destroyed or damaged. An educational institution, 6 apartment buildings, garages, shops, kiosks, a food establishment, a transport company, a private enterprise and infrastructure facilities were affected. In Novooleksandrivka community, a gazebo caught fire.
Samar region. Infrastructure was damaged.
Nikopol region. The russian forces continued striking the region by drones and artillery, targeting the regional centre, Pokrovske and Chervonohryhorivka communities. Updated information confirms that 2 private houses were damaged in Chervonohryhorivka community as a result of yesterday’s shelling.
Pavlohrad region. Infrastructure was damaged in a UAV attack.
Air defence forces operated across the oblast, shooting down 7 drones.
Nikopol region. The enemy conducted 33 attacks during the day, continuing to strike the regional centre and Myrove, Marhanetsk and Pokrovske communities by artillery and drones. 3 people were injured, a 48-year-old woman and 2 men aged 53 and 60. A gymnasium, 7 apartment buildings, a fuel station, a shop, a minibus, an agricultural enterprise were damaged; livestock was killed; infrastructure, gas pipelines and power lines were affected.
Pavlohrad region. 4 people were injured in a UAV attack in Mezhyrich community. Infrastructure and an enterprise were damaged.
Synelnykove region. 3 private houses were destroyed and 4 damaged in Pokrovske community as a result of a russian KAB strike.
Vinnytsia oblast
The oblast has reinforced the 120th Territorial Defence Brigade. This is the 28th transfer of equipment to the unit since the start of the full-scale invasion. This time, 3 pickup trucks and 5 MATRIC vehicles were handed over. The brigade operates in Lyman region – one of the most challenging sectors.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, a memorial ceremony was held for servicemen Pavlo Zahrunny, Oleksii Skrypnychenko, Mykola Petrenko and Oleksandr Lypa.
Pavlo Zahrunny was killed on 17 February 2024 while carrying out a combat mission near Verbove village in Polohy region of Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Oleksii Skrypnychenko was killed on 23 March 2024 during a combat mission near Novomykhailivka in Pokrovsk region of Donetsk oblast.
Mykola Petrenko was killed on 23 December 2024 near Ivanivka village in Pokrovsk region of Donetsk oblast. He was 19 years old.
Oleksandr Lypa was killed on 5 November 2025 while performing a combat mission near Okhrimivka village in Chuhuiv region of Kharkiv oblast.
Poltava oblast
A memorial ceremony was held in Poltava for 2 servicemen: Soldier Mykhailo Zhornyk and Sergeant Valerii Pysarenko.
Mykhailo Zhornyk was killed on 7 November 2025 while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk oblast.
Valerii Pysarenko was killed on 22 September 2024 in combat in Donetsk oblast.
Also, a defender from Kotelva, Soldier Anatolii Dziadovych, was killed. He was killed on 15 November 2025 while carrying out a combat mission near Yablunivka village in Sumy oblast.
Cherkasy oblast
In Smila, fallen serviceman Dmytro Sumskyi was laid to rest. He was killed on 12 April 2024 during a mortar attack in Pokrovsk region of Donetsk oblast.
Serviceman Oleksandr Huchko from Cherkasy oblast was awarded the Order For Courage (III Class) and the medal For Wounds.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that 2 men, aged 42 and 60, were injured as a result of a russian airstrike on Vozdvyzhivka in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Private houses and outbuildings were destroyed and damaged.
The russian forces attacked an emergency medical vehicle by a drone in Bilenke. There were no casualties reported.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 17 November, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 24 russian attacks in Orikhiv, Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka regions.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that kn 17 November, russian forces conducted 693 strikes on 22 towns and villages across Zaporizhzhia oblast, including 15 airstrikes targeting Malokaterynivka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Vozdvyzhivka, Dorozhnianka, Zarichne and Bilohiria.
The National Police reported that 8 people, including a 10-year-old child, were evacuated from frontline settlements in Polohy and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Mykolaiv oblast
Based on the information provided by the Regional Military Administration, during the night of 18 November, air-defence forces shot down 2 Shahed drones over the oblast.
On 17 November, russian forces launched 6 FPV drone attacks on Ochakiv community. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Izmail District Military Administration reported that the fire on the tanker ORINDA, where gas equipment ignited following a russian attack on the port of Izmail, has been extinguished. There is no threat to the population. The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority noted that the condition of the ship is being assessed and the port continues work to eliminate the consequences of the attack and restore infrastructure.
Kherson oblast
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that around 5pm, russian forces shelled Korabelnyi district of Kherson, killing a 40-year-old man. A 56-year-old resident sustained shrapnel wounds to his legs, a concussion and blast and closed head injuries. He was hospitalised.
The CMA informed that at about 3pm, russian forces struck Zelenivka near Kherson. One of the shells hit a private house. Gas and power lines were damaged. There were no injuries reported.

The RMA reported that around 1pm, russian forces shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, injuring an elderly woman. She was transported to hospital in critical condition.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, reported that on 17 November, russian forces attacked 27 settlements across Kherson oblast. 2 people were killed and 5, including a child, injured. 2 high-rise buildings and 6 private houses were damaged.
The Regional Military Administration stated that a 49-year-old woman was injured in Bilozirka during russian shelling on 16 November. She sought medical care today and was hospitalised with a blast injury and a concussion.

Volyn oblast
Over the past 3 weeks, the military has received 8 DJI Mavic 3T, 46 FPV drones, 8 charging stations, 13 inverter generators, 17 Starlink, 8 Lenovo tablets, a Contra Drone electronic warfare equipment, 4 batteries for powering the Vampire UAV, 4 10 m telescopic masts, 4 Skyrazor Varta remote signal amplifier antennas and 2 ACASOM ROC-4 N-Type active antennas complete with mounting hardware.
Zakarpattia oblast
The regional coordination council approved the Action Plan within the framework of the 16 Days Against Violence annual campaign, which will last from 25 November to 10 December. The planned events (from seminars to flash mobs) are designed to raise public awareness and strengthen decisive opposition to any manifestations of violence in the oblast.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk community sent a vehicle and 100 FPV drones to the 79th Separate Tavria Airborne Assault Brigade.
Lviv oblast
Lviv oblast hosted a delegation from Washington and California. Participants discussed potential areas of partnership in the areas of innovation, infrastructure restoration, defense cooperation, economic development, and humanitarian support.
The 159th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received about 30 UAVs, thermal imaging protection complexes for cars, intelligent chargers and drone detectors worth UAH 631,000. Lviv RMA compensated 50% of the amount, the rest was provided by the Vector of Hope International CF.
At the Superhumans rehabilitation center, Zakhar Biryukov,, Ukrainian Armed Forces veteran, set the record for The 1st Ascent To The Top Of Hoverla By A Person With 3 Limb Amputations.
Rivne oblast
Rivne oblast has gained another international partner. The oblast has signed an agreement with the Romanian county of Dolj, with a population of over 600,000 people. The signing took place online
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil community sent a Ford Ranger to the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community sent a special truck worth UAH 2m to perform combat missions.
Chernivtsi oblast
Chernivtsi oblast allocated UAH 266.6m to support the Defense Forces in 10 months. The leader among communities is Chernivtsi, which allocated UAH 138.5m. UAH 67.1m was allocated from the regional budget.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
6 active operations units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine received rifles from an anonymous benefactor from the Netherlands. The aid package included over 700 Hatsan MKA1919 and MAVKA MKA1919 pump-action rifles; 130 collimator sights that are independent of external lighting and weather conditions and 20,000 rounds of ammunition worth EUR 350,000.
