The situation on the frontline is characterised by enemy activity in all sectors, the enemy is using all available forces and means to achieve its goals, the occupier is most active towards Pokrovsk and Kurakhove, where more than a third of all combat engagements took place, however, our stalwart defenders are standing in the way of the russian invasion, who, in extremely difficult conditions, are inflicting irreparable losses on the enemy, destroying it on land, water and in the air.
A total of 73 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of the day.
During the day, a number of settlements in Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts, such as Uhrody, Obody, Kremskyi Buhor, were affected by enemy terrorist attacks. Zhuravka came under fire from unguided aerial missiles, and the enemy is also conducting sabotage and reconnaissance activities in the border areas.
At the same time, Kharkiv region is under constant fire from enemy aircraft. Today terrorists have already downed 11 UAVs. They targeted the areas of Vovchansky Khutory, Starytsia, Lyptsi and Vesele.
In addition, towards Kharkiv, russian occupants attempted eight times to storm the defensive lines of Ukrainian troops near Hlyboke and Vovchansk. Three combat engagements are currently underway. The situation remains under control of our troops.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy, with the support of aviation, actively attacked the positions of our units five times near Synkivka, Stelmakhivka and Berestove, three firefights are still ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold the line firmly.
Today, towards Lyman, the invading army launched seven attacks on Ukrainian positions near Makiivka, Nevske, Terny and Torske. Three engagements ended without success for the enemy, four more are ongoing.
Towards Siversk, near Pereizne, Spirne and Berestove, Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks by the occupying army.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the invaders made four assaults on the positions of our troops near Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar and towards Novomarkove. The enemy launched airstrikes with assault and bomber aircraft against Chasiv Yar.
Towards Toretsk, the number of enemy attacks increased to ten. The enemy is concentrating its efforts in the areas of Pivnichne and Toretsk, where nine combat engagements took place, and another one near Niu-York. Ukrainian troops repelled all enemy attacks. The invaders are actively using aviation in this area, specifically, they bombed the areas around Pivnichne and Toretsk.
Towards Pokrovsk, there were the largest number of firefights. Since the beginning of the day, the invaders, supported by bombers and attack aircraft, have made 15 attempts to push our defenders from their positions near Prohres, Novoselivka Persha, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Umanske and Yasnobrodivka. The defence forces are holding back the attack and have repelled six enemy attacks so far, with nine attacks still ongoing. The enemy’s losses are being clarified.
Towards Kurakhove, fighting continues near Krasnohorivka, Karlivka and Paraskoviivka. According to updated information, six attacks by the occupation army have been repelled in the area so far, and six more clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Vremivka, the enemy is actively using aviation, attacking the areas of Shevchenko, Berestky, Velyka Novosilka and Urozhaine.
Towards Orikhiv, the invaders made five unsuccessful attempts to attack our units near Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne and towards Novoandriivka and Nesterianka.
Towards Kherson, the enemy continues to try to drive our units from their positions. Two unsuccessful assaults by enemy infantry were repelled by Ukrainian troops.
MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak reported that Ukraine has adopted a law to increase the excise tax on fuel. The new draft law provides for an increase in excise tax rates on fuel to the minimum level set by the European Union.
For the first time in the history of Ukrainian medical education, the Ministry of Health is introducing a medical residency. This is a new stage of postgraduate training for doctors, which allows them to gain highly specialised knowledge and skills for independent work.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
At about 2:30am, russians attacked Hlushkivka village of Kurylivka community, Kupiansk region, using KAB. According to the RMA, a private house caught on fire as a result of hostile shelling. A 60-year-old woman was killed and two men aged 69 and 80 injured. At least 4 households were damaged.
In Petropavlivka village of Kupiansk region, a civilian woman was injured as a result of a drone dropping a munition.
Yesterday at around 7:10pm, an FPV drone shelled Kupiansk. A car was damaged.
At around 4:50pm, russians attacked Kupiansk. There was artillery shelling, which damaged a police car Renault Duster.
At 3:37pm, кussians attacked Hlushkivka village of Kurylivka community, Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, 2 outbuildings on the area of 40 sq m were burning.
At around 11:20am, russians attacked Kupiansk. As a result of the shelling, grass was burning on the area of 200 sq m.
At around 8am, russians attacked Borivske forestry, Kupianske forestry, Pidlyman village, Borova communit, Izium region. As a result of the shelling, coniferous litter caught fire on an area of 0.4 hectares.
Towards Kharkiv, 16 enemy attacks were repelled. 11 of them were near Hlyboke, the rest – near Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 10 enemy attacks near Pishchane, Berestove, Andriivka and Synkivka.
Ukraine managed to free 95 more servicemen from enemy captivity yesterday. Among them are 7 fighters from Kharkiv oblast: two defenders from Kharkiv, one from Malynivka and Prymorske villages of Chuhuiv region, one defender from Merefa, Ruska Lozova and one Ukrainian soldier from Krasnopavlivka village of Lozova region.
Donetsk oblast
The CMA informed that russians fired two missiles at Myrnohrad. Three administrative buildings, two residential two-storey buildings and an industrial building were damaged. Two injured women and a man were taken to hospital. They suffered mine-blast traumas and shrapnel wounds. All three are undergoing outpatient treatment.

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that three people were killed and three others injured in the shelling of Zalizne, Hrodivka and Velyka Novosilka on 18 July.

The CMA reported that the humanitarian aid distribution point in Toretsk was shelled by russian troops.
The Khortytsia operational-strategic group reported that the Ukrainian defence forces have withdrawn from Urozhaine. The enemy destroyed almost everything in Urozhaine. The command made this decision to save the lives of the soldiers.
The intensity of hostilities increased along the entire frontline on 17 July, with the number of attacks more than doubling towards Toretsk. Also russian troops attacked and stormed 29 times there, concentrating their efforts near Niu-York and Zalizne. As a result, over 96 battles, assaults and attacks were recorded in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts over the day, out of 144 along the entire frontline.
Donetsk police informed that at 3:30am, russian troops shelled Pleshchiivka, killing two civilians and damaging 6 private homes.
Yesterday 17 people were injured as a result of russian shelling. Over the day, police recorded 2625 attacks on the frontline and residential areas.
The enemy attacked 16 settlements: Zalizne, Kurakhove, Lyman, Pokrovsk, Toretsk, Ukrainsk, Zhelanne, Zelene Pole, Katerynivka, Markove, Mykhailivka, Novozhelanne, Novoselydivka, Novofedorivka, Serhiivka and Yablunivka.
42 civilian objects were damaged, including 16 residential buildings, administrative buildings, pharmacies, shops, an educational institution, non-residential premises, garages and cars.
The russians hit Pokrovsk with an UMPB D-30 SN guided bomb, injuring 6 civilians and damaging 7 apartment buildings and an educational institution.
The invaders dropped six ODAB guided bombs with an UMPC module on Lyman. One person was injured, 4 apartment buildings, three shops, a pharmacy and administrative buildings were damaged. According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the railway’s administrative building in Lyman is beyond repair, while other buildings have been heavily damaged. The railway company had already tried to restore them after previous shelling, installing new windows and carrying out some cosmetic repairs, but this time the scale of the damage is more significant.

The russian invaders shelled Novofedorivka with Uragan MRLs, injuring three civilians.
Two residents of Novozhelanne and one resident of Zelene Pole were injured as a result of enemy drone strikes.
One person was injured in Zalizne and Zhelanne, and two more in Mykhailivka, where four administrative buildings were damaged.
Oleksii Vorobiov, Head of the Military Administration, reported that less than a thousand people remain in Siversk and the town is 85% destroyed. The town is now 8km from the frontline and has no water, electricity or gas supply.
Luhansk oblast
The invaders were shelling Nevsky almost continuously throughout the day. According to the RMA, artillery and drones were used. During another shelling, a local resident born in 1974 was injured. The man sustained lacerations to his arm, shoulder blade, numerous small shrapnel wounds to his torso and limbs. Luhansk police evacuated him to the nearest hospital in Lyman, where he received first aid. The village also suffered further destruction of housing. One of the houses burned to the ground after a russian shell hit. Several others were damaged. The invaders shelled Makiivka with rocket launchers and cannon artillery, and dropped shells from UAVs.
Yesterday the fighting took place near Stelmakhivka, Andriivka, Makiivka and Hrekivka.
The wage arrears to miners from Dovzhansk, Sorokyne and Rovenky are to be paid by selling the remaining coal and inventory of Vostok Vuhillia. In other words, they will sell everything they have.
Another 91 children from the occupied Luhansk oblast were sent to Volgograd Warrior Centre. They will be taught firearms, tactical and engineering training, communications, drone control and national security lessons during the 21-day “time of young heroes” shift.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Kyiv City Military Administration reported that air defence forces shot down russian drones on the outskirts of Kyiv during a night air raid.
There was no damage or casualties in Kyiv.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko informed that as of today, 23 people injured in the attack on the capital on 8 July are being treated in Kyiv hospitals. Three of them are children.
Two adults are in critical condition.
The coordinator of the Medevac programme of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine, Arman Kacharian announced that the Ministry of Health has received 16 requests for medical evacuation abroad from Okhmatdyt doctors and patients’ parents. These are patients with severe cancer and orphan diseases who were in the Okhmatdyt hospital at the time of the terrorist attack.
Hospitals in Austria, Switzerland, Germany and other countries are ready to accept the patients.
The Tallinn Children’s Hospital Assistance Fund has collected a targeted donation from Estonian residents for the restoration of the Ukrainian children’s hospital Okhmatdyt in the amount of 60 thousand euros. The fundraising began immediately after the news of the tragedy and is still ongoing.
Patrick Turner will start working in Kyiv since September to head the NATO Mission to Ukraine. He was appointed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Turner will act as a coordinator of NATO’s interaction with the Ukrainian authorities and will work with partners to provide assistance to Ukraine.
The deadline for updating the data of persons liable for military service through the ASCs of Kyiv oblast has passed. On 18 May, all 69 ASCs in the oblast started accepting persons liable for military service who had to update their data. Around 154,400 applications have been processed by the ASC staff.
On 17 July, representatives of social service centres and employment centres in Kyiv visited the Ukrainian Women’s Guard (UWG) in Borodianka. The meeting was focused on cooperation. The guests were given a tour around the Hub and were introduced to the activities of the Ukrainian Women’s Guard.
Zhytomyr oblast
The RMA announced that starting in August, 28 more educational security officers will work in lyceums in Zhytomyr oblast. The officers underwent a specific course at a branch of Kharkiv University of Internal Affairs. They studied not only theory but also received practical training.
Irena Lisova, head of Hryshkivtsi community, reported that a soldier from Zhytomyr oblast, Andriy Pavliuk, was returned to Ukraine from russian captivity in the latest exchange of prisoners of war.
Sumy oblast
According to the RMA report, at night and in the morning of 18 July, russians attacked the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast 11 times. A total of 27 explosions were recorded – the enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones and dropped explosive devices from UAVs. Khotyn, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivska and Nova Sloboda communities were shelled.
Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that on 17 July, at around 3pm, the russian military attacked a civilian car travelling along the Bilopillya-Putivl highway with a drone. As a result of the attack, a woman was injured. On 17 July, russian troops fired 27 times in Sumy oblast. A total of 44 explosions were recorded.
According to the regional military administration, 8 border communities were shelled.
Bilopillia community: shelling with the use of FPV drones (5 explosions), a civilian was injured.
Esman community: the enemy fired from artillery (3 explosions). There was also a shelling with the use of 2 FPV drones (2 explosions).
Yunakivka community: shelling with the use of FPV drones was recorded (8 explosions).
Khotyn community: 10 mines were dropped by russians on the territory of the community.
Velyka Pysarivka community: the enemy attacked with mortars (5 explosions).
Shalyhyne community: shelling with the use of FPV drones (7 explosions).
Krasnopillia community: 1 explosive device was dropped from a UAV (1 explosion).
Druzhkivka community: russians fired from artillery (3 explosions).
The North military command informed that on 17 July, an FPV drone attack in Stari Vyrky village in Bilopillia community damaged a private house. A drone strike damaged a farm building in Loknya village in Yunakivka community. Two private houses were damaged by drone attacks in Ulanove village of Esman community and Sosnivka village of Popivka community.
The regional police stated that an outbuilding was damaged and a fire broke out in the garage of the forestry as a result of russian strikes on 17 July. Investigators opened criminal proceedings over the incidents under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ‘Violation of the laws and customs of war’.
Sumy Regional State Emergency Service announced that in Sumy region, rescuers extinguished a fire in a residential area caused by russian shelling.
Chernihiv oblast
The SBGS reported that over the past 24 hours, russian troops attacked the border of Chernihiv oblast with FPV drones, mortars and cannon artillery. A total of 59 explosions were recorded. Three border communities were under enemy fire.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community: 18 attacks from cannon artillery, FPV drones and mortars in the direction of the settlements of Mikhalchyna Sloboda and Vorobiivka.
As a result of hostile shelling, a power line in Vorobiivka village was damaged and a forest area caught fire.
Semenivka community: 20 mortar and cannon artillery attacks in the direction of Karpovychi, Prohres, Arkhipivka and Bleshnia.
Snovsk community: 21 mortar attacks in the direction of Khrinivka.
Volodymyr Opanasenko, a ballet dancer of Chernihiv Ukrainian Academic Folk Choir, was killed in Donetsk oblast. The commander of a rifle platoon, junior lieutenant Volodymyr Opanasenko died on 12 July near the village of Niu-York, Bakhmut region. He was 39 years old. He had spent more than twenty years on stage.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Serhii Lysak, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, reported that the East military units destroyed two missiles and five Shahed over the oblast. In the evening, Synelnykove region survived a rocket attack.
A fire broke out there. Attacks on Nikopol region continued with kamikaze drones and artillery. The invaders hit Pokrovsk, Nikopol and Marhanets communities. The regional centre suffered the most.
Two men aged 51 and 60 were injured there. They received the necessary medical care. Doctors assessed their condition as moderate. A residential two-storey building and 13 private houses were damaged. 2 outbuildings were destroyed and 6 were smashed. Solar panels and cars were damaged. A shop caught on fire.
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that Nikopol region suffered from enemy attacks again.
The invaders shelled the regional centre, Pokrovsk and Myrove communities with artillery and kamikaze drones. A college, a private and municipal enterprise, 8 private houses, greenhouses, 2 outbuildings, a garage, 3 cars, a minibus and power lines were damaged.
During the exchange of prisoners of war on 17 July, Dmytro Zadorozhnyi, a National Guard officer from Kryvyi Rih, returned to Ukraine from russian captivity.
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Regional Rehabilitation Centre, informed that over the course of the full-scale war, Dnipro Regional Rehabilitation Centre for Veterans has helped about 10,000 servicemen get back on their feet.
Vinnytsia oblast
Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov reported that Vinnytsia oblast has handed over 150 FPV drones and 5 Mavic 3Ts to the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Kirovohrad oblast
Mykola Usatiuk, a 27-year-old soldier from Holovanivsk community in Kirovohrad oblast, was killed in the war with russia. He had been missing for almost nine months.
Poltava oblast
Filip Pronin, Head of Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported that last night, the enemy attacked Poltava oblast with a UAV. A civilian house and yard were damaged in Kremenchuk region.
Cherkasy oblast
Oleh Taibov from Cherkasy has made 150 drones over the past year. To do this, he took special courses on creating drones. His father, a former serviceman, helps him in this business.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Mykola Oleshchuk, Lieutenant General, Commander of the Air Force, reported that on the night of 18 July, Shaheds were shot down over Zaporizhzhia oblast, as well as two X-59 guided missiles over Dnipro, Poltava, Kyiv and Kharkiv oblasts. In total, the russians attacked with 16 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from Kursk oblast and three guided missiles from the south: two X-59/X-69 and one X-35.
On 17 July, the occupants launched 424 attacks on 14 localities in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Three people were injured as a result of russian attacks on the Pohlogy region. Two of them are children.
The russian military carried out 7 airstrikes on Stepnohirsk, Pyatikhatky, Lobkove and Olhivske.
196 UAVs of various modifications attacked Gulyaypole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Malynivka, Novodanilivka and Uspenivka.
Stepnohirsk, Novodanilivka, Robotyne and Novoandriivka were hit by 11 MLRS attacks.
210 artillery shelling was carried out in Prymorske, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Verbove, Novodanylivka, Malynivka and Levadne.
There were 15 reports of the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that on Wednesday, 17 July, a prisoner of war exchange took place, during which 95 Ukrainian servicemen were returned. Among them are residents of Zaporizhzhia oblast. These are defenders from the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Armed Forces repelled enemy attacks near four settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Towards Orikhiv five enemy attacks were repelled in the areas of Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, as well as in the direction of Nesteryanka and Novoandriivka.
Mykolaiv oblast
In the evening of 17 July, the russian army once again shelled the territory of Kutsurub community in Mykolaiv oblast with FPV kamikaze drones. The attack outside the settlements took place at 5:07 and 5:39pm. Coniferous plantations caught fire in an open area. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters. A civilian car was damaged after the second shelling. There were no casualties among the locals. At 5:54pm, the russian army fired artillery shells at the community’s water area.
Police of Mykolaiv oblast reported that police explosives experts received training on improvised explosive devices in Hungary. For a week, inspectors from police explosive ordnance departments from several regions of Ukraine have been attending a training course at the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in Budapest, Hungary. The purpose of the visit was to study the electronic components of improvised explosive devices.
Odesa oblast
Ecologists have assessed the damage caused by the russian attack on the port of Odesa. The environmental damage caused by russia’s recent attack on the port infrastructure of Odesa oblast was estimated at UAH 246,000. This refers to the shelling that took place on 4 July, which set residential buildings and vegetation on fire, according to the State Environmental Inspectorate. The mass of carbon dioxide emissions that got into the air was almost 80 tonnes.
The Southern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service said that the defenders of Zmiine returned to Odesa oblast after rehabilitation. The soldiers, who were captured more than two years ago, have finally completed their treatment and rehabilitation and returned to their families.
Kherson oblast
Occupation forces attacked 16 settlements in Kherson oblast. There were injured people.
On 17 July, the russian army shelled Antonivka, Sadove, Bilozerka, Kizomys, Prydniprovske, Veletenske, Shyroka Balka, Beryslav, Novoberislav, Mykhailivka, Lvove, Sablukivka, Chervone, Novovorontsovka, Havrylivka and Kherson. 6 people were injured, 4 multi-storey buildings, 22 private houses, outbuildings and cars were destroyed.
On 17 July, at around 11:30am, russian troops shelled Antonivka village in Kherson oblast, injuring a 45-year-old local resident.
On 17 July, at around 11am, the russian military attacked the central district of Kherson. Three people were injured as a result of the shelling. A 71-year-old woman was taken to hospital with injuries to her face and neck. She is in moderate condition. According to the updated information, a 16-year-old girl and a 50-year-old woman – mother and daughter – were injured. At the time of the attack, the victims were near a house that was hit by a russian shell.
On 17 July, the occupation forces attacked settlements in Kherson oblast. As a result, 37 livestock burned to death on a farm in Chervone.
On 18 July, the russian army shelled Bilozerka in Kherson oblast. One of the local residents was seriously injured. On the same day, the occupiers attacked Oleksandrivka, Kherson oblast, with a drone. As a result, a man was injured.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that on 17 July 95 Ukrainian soldiers were returned from russian captivity, including seven residents of Kherson oblast.
According to Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, over 6 months of this year, law enforcement agencies in Kherson oblast have registered more than 3,000 criminal offences against peace, human security and international order. It is noted that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the figure reaches 24,000 war crimes.

Among 95 dismissed Ukrainian defenders are 4 from Volyn oblast. Stanislav Kravchuk and Mykola Kryvytskyi were held captive by the terrorist country for over 2 years. Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The RMA reported that the 682nd Radio Engineering Battalion of the Halicia-Volyn Radio Engineering brigade received computer equipment worth UAH 110,000 thanks to the regional budget as part of the mobilisation training program.
Lviv oblast
Among those who returned home from captivity is Yurii Kuzmych, defender of the 63rd Separate Mechanised Brigade from Yavorov. Warrior born in 2002. He was in captivity from 21 July 2023.
Belzka community sent a DJI Mavic 3 Pro RC quadcopter worth UAH 72,000, a thermal imager AGM Taipan TM10-256 worth UAH 27.200 to the military unit where a compatriot, Yurii Shostak from the village of Domashiv, is serving. Total worth almost UAH 100,000.
As of today, another 134 streets in 33 communities of Lviv oblast have received decommunized names. The decision to change the name was made based on the recommendations of the working group on decommunization at Lviv RMA, which included, specifically, historians, veterans of the russian-Ukrainian war, and active community residents.
Rivne oblast
Among the Ukrainian servicemen released from captivity are Ivan Kovalchuk, gunner, and Artem Kurylovych, assistant grenade launcher, from Rivne oblast.
The RMA held a meeting with Nazarii Volianskyi, Director of the representative office of the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Poland in Ukraine. This union unites 17 regional and 19 industry organisations, as well as a number of Polish and international companies. They discussed possible areas of cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish entrepreneurs. Specifically, regarding the establishment of bilateral trade relations, assistance in the implementation of joint investment projects, assistance in the entry of Ukrainian companies into the European market. The first step in cooperation was the signing of a memorandum.
The RMA reported that over 50 IDPs turned to the mobile team of the Right to Protection CF, which worked in the Space of Integration to collect data for receiving financial assistance from the UNHCR. It is about UAH 3,600 per month per person for 3 months.
Ternopil oblast
The RMA reported that according to preliminary information, one prisoner of war who was returned from russian captivity is a resident of Chortkiv region.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
The Ukrainian Army Recruiting Center opened in Khmelnytskyi. Administrators provide comprehensive advice on which military profession and unit is best to choose based on skills and knowledge, and organise communication with a military unit if a vacancy is of interest. Also, representatives of various military units will work here and talk about the advantages of serving in them and the requirements for candidates.
Chernivtsi oblast
The RMA reported that the Vadul-Syretskyi Terminal LLC sent a car to the military, which will be sent to the front lines in the near future.
Another meeting of the board of the Department of Health Care of Chernivtsi oblast was held. They discussed organisation of inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation care in the conditions of war in health care institutions of the oblast, inpatient and mobile palliative care, including for people with mental and behavioural disorders.
In Chernivtsi, a training was held for administrators of Administrative Service Centers of the Oblast on the provision of services to veterans and their families. Its purpose is to increase the knowledge of administrators about the procedure for providing administrative services of a social nature for war veterans and their family members.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The European commission supported the allocation of almost €4.2bn to Ukraine. After receiving these funds, the total amount of funding from the EU within the Ukraine Facility will reach €12bn.
Belgium will send reconstruction projects in Ukraine for €150m. Specifically, the funds will be directed to the restoration of energy and social infrastructure in Kyiv and Chernihiv oblasts. The 1st tranche of €20m will be allocated to decentralized energy installations in Kyiv and the suburbs before next winter, with an emphasis on hospitals. Belgium will also support the installation of generators and solar panels in medical facilities and schools. According to the agreement, the Enabel Belgian development agency will open its representative office in Ukraine.
Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, announced the appointment of Patrick Turner as a senior representative in Ukraine. He will begin his duties in Kyiv in September 2024. As a senior representative, he will head the Alliance’s representation in Ukraine, act as a coordinator of NATO’s interaction with the Ukrainian authorities in Kyiv, and coordinate NATO’s efforts and provide the Alliance with assessments and advice on the situation in Ukraine.
The European Parliament approved the resolution on support for Ukraine and condemned Orban’s visit to the russian federation. The resolution was supported by 495 out of 679 MEPs.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, arrived in Great Britain. Valerii Zaluzhnyi met him. Plans include participation in the summit of the European Political Community, negotiations with partners and the signing of new security agreements. The President is also scheduled to meet with His Majesty King Charles III, Prime Minister Starmer and government officials.
In Germany, a businessman was sentenced to 6 years for selling electronics to russian military companies. The defendant supplied goods to bypass sanctions using documents for such destinations as Hong Kong and Turkey.
In Irpen, the 1st multi-apartment building rebuilt at the expense of United24 was put into operation. The cost of repairs reached UAH 77.79m. Thanks to the implementation of the project, 325 residents of the building will return to their apartments.
