War in Ukraine today: latest news, 17 July, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 875th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy continues its offensive. The greatest activity is observed towards Pokrovsk, Toretsk and Kharkiv. The units of the Defence Forces are bravely holding back the occupiers’ offensive and responding firmly to their attempts to advance.

Today, the number of combat engagements has increased to almost a hundred, with 99 recorded so far.

Towards Kharkiv, the enemy is attacking with the support of aviation, having already conducted six air strikes with guided aerial bombs. The number of combat engagements has increased to 15 since the beginning of the day. The invaders concentrated all their efforts near Hlyboke and Vovchansk. They attacked in small groups, up to the motorised rifle unit. Currently, there is one battle near Hlyboke, all other enemy attacks have been stopped. The losses of the invaders are being clarified.

Towards Kupiansk, the intensity of the russian occupiers’ assault actions has increased. The enemy attacked the positions of our units eight times, specifically, near Synkivka, Andriivka and Stelmakhivka.

Fighting is still ongoing in two locations near the latter. Terrorists attacked Synkivka with unguided missiles from army aircraft.

Towards Lyman, six enemy attacks were registered since the beginning of the day, half of them were successfully repelled by our defenders. Firefights continue near Torske and Makiivka.

Towards Siversk, the russian aggressor continues to try to improve the tactical situation near Spirne, Vyimka, Fedorivka and Verkhnokamianske. The number of combat engagements increased to five today. Two attacks were repelled by our troops, three are still ongoing. The invaders dropped a guided aerial bomb near Dobropillia.

Towards Kramatorsk, the invaders are storming Chasiv Yar with the support of aviation and they used three UAVs in the town. Two more attacks near Andriivka and Novomarkove were repelled.

Towards Toretsk, the number of enemy attacks increased to 17. The enemy is concentrating its efforts towards Pivnichne and Niu-York. Fighting continues. The invaders bombed Toretsk and Pivnichne and they launched three air strikes.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy is active today. To date, 21 combat engagements have been registered. Four of them are still ongoing near Novooleksandrivka and Karlivka. The invaders fired five times at the areas of Oleksandropil and Umansk with unguided aerial missiles.

Towards Kurakhove, fighting continues in two locations near Krasnohorivka. In addition, the enemy attacked in the areas of Heorhiivka and Paraskoviivka. According to the updated information, a total of 12 attacks by the occupation army were registered in the sector today.

Towards Vremivka, the enemy twice attacked near Kostiantynivka. They also attacked Katerynivka with six anti-aircraft guns and twice near Urozhaine with unguided aerial missiles.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy has intensified its attacks, conducting eight attacks near Novodarivka, Mala Tokmachka and Novoandriivka. In addition, the invaders fired about a hundred unguided aerial missiles in the directions of Huliaipole, Lobkove, Rivne, Kamianske and Piatikhatky.

Towards Kherson, at our footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro, the invaders tried twice unsuccessfully to push Ukrainian soldiers from their positions.

In other areas, the situation has not changed significantly.

Another 95 defenders were released from russian captivity. Among those released from captivity are 49 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (including a member of the Air Bridge who volunteered to fly a helicopter to Azovstal and two from the Air Force), 21 National Guardsmen, 10 sailors, 7 from the Territorial Defence Forces, 5 border guards, 2 from the State Special Transport Service and 1 defender from the TRO volunteer unit. All of those released this time are men: 88 privates and sergeants, 7 officers. Among those released is a defender who had been reported missing.

The Ministry of Defence has returned to the Armed Forces of Ukraine ammunition of various calibres that had been transferred for disposal as overstock before the start of russia’s armed aggression. These include artillery rounds, small arms ammunition, components, fuses, etc.

The Ministry of Energy reported that one of Ukraine’s nuclear power units was restored ahead of schedule. It will add 1,000 MW of capacity to the grid. It has already been connected to the power grid, which will make it more stable in a difficult period. The electricity situation will improve, so there should be fewer blackouts.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that the russian army is redeploying manpower to Kharkiv axis from other areas to continue to exert pressure. According to him, the frontline is stable in Lyptsi and Vovchansk sectors.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, added that at 4:40am, russians attacked Borova, Izium region. The enemy shelled the KAB, damaging the premises of a cafe, a car wash and three private houses.

Towards Kupiansk community, russia destroyed Oskil crossing last night with an X-type missile, which was used for evacuation. This is not the first attempt by the russians to hit this crossing.

Yesterday at 12:54pm, russians attacked Bilyi Kolodiaz village of Vovchansk community, Chuhuiv region. As a result of the shelling, two residential buildings burned.

At 11:45am, russians attacked outside Kindrashivke village, Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, dry grass on the area of 2.5 hectares was burning in the open area.

Around 8am, russians attacked Volokhivka village, Chuhuiv region. A private household was damaged as a result of hostile shelling of the settlement from an FPV drone.

Towards Kharkiv, there were 7 combat engagements near Hlyboke and Vovchansk.

Towards Kupiansk, the number of attacks totalled nine over the day. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults near Synkivka, Andriivka, Pishchane, Berestove and Stepova Novoselivka.

Currently, the generating facilities in Kharkiv oblast are not working. More than 700 power supply facilities and over 8,000km of power grids have been damaged or destroyed. At the same time, we continue to decentralise the power system.

Donetsk oblast

Selydove CMA said that at 10am, russian troops shelled Ukrainsk by artillery. The shelling damaged the windows and balcony of an apartment in a high-rise building. There were no casualties during the shelling.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed that the intensity of hostilities decreased towards Pokrovsk. On 16 July, the Defence Forces repelled fewer attacks and assaults in this area of the frontline than the day before. At the same time, russian forces continue to exert pressure, trying to advance towards Pokrovsk. The largest concentration of attacks was near Novooleksandrivka, with russian troops using aircraft. As a result, 87 assaults and attacks were recorded in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts on 16 July, out of 112 along the entire frontline.  

Donetsk police said that russian troops fired 2,516 times along the frontline and in the residential sector. The invaders focused their fire on 13 settlements: Pokrovsk, Ukrainsk cities, the villages of Novoekonomichne, Pivnichne, Shcherbynivka, Yampil settlements, Burlatske, Illinka, Katerynivka, Nelipivka, Ostrivske, Rozdolne, Stara Mykolaivka villages.

73 civilian objects were damaged, including 39 residential buildings, an educational institution, a cultural centre, non-residential premises, critical infrastructure, garages and cars.

The russians hit Pokrovsk using three UMPB D-30 SN guided bombs, injuring four residents, damaging 25 private houses, a non-residential building and a gas pipeline.

In Pivnichne, a civilian was killed and another injured as a result of hostile shelling.

The invaders shelled Ukrainsk using Uragan multiple rocket launchers and artillery, injuring a man and damaging 6 apartment buildings, 30 garages and civilian cars.

One person was injured in Illinka.

In addition, there was information about two civilians injured on 15 July in Niu-York and Nelipivka.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the security situation around the villages located near the contact line remains tense, with russians shelling the settlements daily. Therefore, it is better for the locals to evacuate as soon as possible.

A 69-year-old man and woman agreed to leave frontline Makiivka. They are currently in a safe place in Donetsk oblast, from where they plan to go to their relatives in Cherkasy oblast. Krasnorichensk military administration is accompanying the evacuees and helping them with their current issues.

Yesterday the enemy shelled Makiivka and Nevske by artillery and used drones. Nevske was hit by a multiple rocket launcher system. The aggressor attacked six times near Nevske and Makiivka. They also tried to advance near Andriivka.

With the start of the academic year, the universities of the so-called “lpr” will start enrolling students to be sent to Lysychansk and Rubizhne for reconstruction work. A new supervisor from Tatarstan decided to use local youth as labour. The students will work on construction projects in the towns half-ruined by the russians in 2025 and 2026. Before joining the so-called “peaceful landing”, they will interrupt their specialised studies and learn a working profession.  

From now on, the houses of culture on wheels will entertain people in Novopskov, Sievierodonetsk and Khrustalne (or Krasnyi Luch, as the invaders call it).

 Roman Vlasenko, Head of Sievierodonetsk REgional Military Administration, reported that  due to non-payment for utilities to the population of Severodonetsk, the occupiers reduced the water pressure in the system. In Lysychansk, Pryvillia, Novodruzhesk and Popasna, centralised water supply systems have been destroyed by the russians. Irregular water deliveries are organised there. The volume of humanitarian aid from russia to the so-called “luhansk people’s republic” has decreased tenfold over the past two years, and hundreds of cases of confiscated property have already been reported in the occupied territory of Sievierodonetsk region.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

On 16 July, UN High Commissioner Filippo Grandi arrived in Kyiv and met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They discussed humanitarian support and assistance in preparing for the winter period. This is Filippo Grandi’s fifth visit to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale russian invasion. He also visited the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital, which was hit by a terrorist missile attack by russia.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced that Belgium will provide €150m for reconstruction projects in Ukraine. The funds will be used, in particular, to restore energy and social infrastructure in Kyiv and Chernihiv oblasts. 

German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze informed that Germany will allocate €10m to rebuild the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in Kyiv, which was damaged by a russian missile strike. The money, along with funds from other donors, will be used to quickly rebuild the hospital and prepare the building for winter operation.

The Government of Sweden is preparing a decision to allocate an additional SEK 5 million for the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv, which was damaged by a rocket attack. The humanitarian aid will be channelled through UNICEF to the affected children and their families.

Dynamo football club’s press service volunteered to restore the department of the Centre for Orphan Diseases and Gene Therapy at Kyiv Okhmatdyt. It is noted that this department was opened only three months ago and deals with rare diseases.

On 16 July, Mykola Kokhanivskyi, a commander of the OUN volunteer battalion who died in the war, was given a last farewell in Kyiv. The funeral took place on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square). The head of the OUN volunteer battalion, nicknamed “Burevii”, and a nationalist soldier was killed on 10 June on the battlefield in Kharkiv oblast, defending Ukraine from russian occupation forces.

According to Kyiv Regional Military Administration, more than 18,800 objects were damaged or destroyed in Bucha region as a result of russian military aggression.  The reconstruction process is currently underway. In particular, in Makariv, a 5-storey building at 1 Sadova Street is being overhauled, with the entrance destroyed, the roof and balconies damaged, windows and doors smashed, and utilities ruined.

The Veteran Development Centre of Bila Tserkva National Agricultural University has developed educational programmes for those wishing to start their own business in the agricultural sector. The centre was established in December 2023 and has already helped hundreds of veterans and their families with a full range of services. The Veteran Development Centre is focused on psychological and legal adaptation and assistance in setting up their own business.

The ICIP announced an opening of a street exhibition titled “Language Murder as a Component of Ruscism” in Kyiv park near the Kontraktova Square metro station. The authors of the exhibition demonstrated the systematic and deliberate destruction of the Ukrainian language by the russian authorities at different stages of history.

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr City Council reported that Compensation totalling UAH 87.4m has already been awarded in Zhytomyr since the start of commissions for reviewing citizens’ applications for payments to restore property damaged and destroyed as a result of russia’s armed aggression.

A new programme aimed at reducing energy consumption was presented for housing cooperatives and condominiums. The programme provides funding to reimburse 70% of the cost of equipment and materials such as heat pumps and solar power plants, as well as to certify the energy efficiency of a building.

According to Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, Zhytomyr oblast has become part of the route of the Tour de France Ukraine charity cycling race, which raises money for residents of Kherson oblast affected by russian armed aggression.

Sumy oblast

At night and in the morning of 17 July, russians fired 7 times at border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. A total of 68 explosions were recorded, including mortar, artillery, grenade launcher and Kamikaze FPV drones. Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhyne and Seredyna-Buda communities were shelled.

On 16 July, the russian military fired 28 times in Sumy oblast. A total of 103 explosions were recorded. According to the regional military administration report, 11 border communities came under fire.

Krasnopillia community: the enemy dropped explosive devices (3 explosions) and artillery shelling (12 explosions).

Khotyn community: 2 explosive devices were dropped, mortar shelling (1 explosion).

Druzhbivka community: 33 mines were dropped by the russian military on the territory of the community. There was also artillery shelling (1 explosion).

Esman community: the shelling of 2 FPV drones (2 explosions), mortar shelling (3 explosions), artillery shelling (2 explosions) were recorded.

Yunakivka community: shelling with the use of Kamikaze FPV drones (6 explosions).

Seredyna-Buda community: dropping of explosive devices (4 explosions), artillery shelling (4 explosions), mortar shelling (4 explosions).

Artillery shelling was recorded on the territory of Velyka Pysarivka community (6 explosions), Bilopillia community (3 explosions), and Miropillia community (2 explosions). Hlukhiv community was shelled with Grad rockets (12 explosions). The russian military dropped 3 mines on the territory of Znob-Novhorodske community.

The North Operative Command reported that on 16 July, as a result of the shelling of Hlukhiv community by the russian army using multiple rocket launchers, 2 private houses, a transport infrastructure facility, commercial and industrial premises, and a medium-pressure gas pipeline were damaged. 

In addition, 2 private houses and a power line in the village of Uhroidy were damaged by russian shelling over the past day. In Velyka Pysarivka, there were 9 explosions caused by cannon artillery, damaging a farm, a utility room and a workshop. A telecommunications tower was damaged in Pustohorod as a result of shelling.

Children from the border areas of Sumy took part in the cultural and educational travelling festival, called “Creativity Unites Hearts”. The holiday for children in Verkhovyna was organised by the Constellation of Youth and Young Talents NGO. The event was attended by 10 teams from Sumy oblast – more than 140 people (children, team leaders and their parents).

Chernihiv oblast

Over the past 24 hours, russian troops attacked the border of Chernihiv oblast with FPV drones, mortars and cannon artillery. A total of 25 explosions were recorded. According to the SBGS report, four communities of the region were under enemy attacks.

Novhorod-Siverskyi community: 5 strikes from cannon artillery and explosive devices dropped from an enemy UAV in the direction of Kamen.

Semenivka community: 6 attacks from FPV drones, mortars and cannon artillery in the direction of Karpovychi, Liskivshchyna and Prohres.

Snovsk community: 11 attacks with mortar and cannon artillery on the settlements of Mistky and Yeline.

Horodnia community: 3 explosive devices dropped from the enemy’s UAV in Senkivka.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that on 16 July, the russian army launched a missile attack on the village of Holinka, Nizhyn region. The russians struck with an X-59 missile. There was no information on casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure.

Ihor Vlasenko, head of the administrative and advisory services department announced that more than 5,500 people liable for military service have updated their details at the Chernihiv Administrative Services Centre in the two months since the new mobilisation law came into force. 

Chernihiv border guard detachment reported that within a month and a half, border guards in Chernihiv oblast detained 48 people for illegal stay in the five-kilometre zone to the russian and Belarusian borders. These are people who have not received special permits to live, stay, enter and conduct certain activities there. Administrative reports were drawn up against them.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening, the enemy shelled Marhanets community of Nikopol region using artillery. They launched about two dozen shells. In the morning, the attacks on the area continued. The enemy sent kamikaze drones to Nikopol. There were no casualties.

About two dozen attacks in Nikopol region. The enemy fired on the regional centre, Marhanets, Pokrovsk and Myrove communities. The invaders shelled using artillery and kamikaze drones. A fire broke out, an enterprise was damaged, 4 cars were destroyed, 17 others were damaged, trucks, a moped, a private house, an outbuilding, a gas pipeline and a power line were hit. There were no casualties.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​Vinnytsia oblast has delivered electronic warfare equipment to a military unit. The soldiers of one of the military units already have nine such systems. The equipment was purchased at the expense of funds provided as a subvention from the community budget.

It became known that seven defenders from Vinnytsia oblast were killed, specifically, Biloshapka M. Serhii, Shevchuk O. Oleksandr, Ishchenko H. Dmytro, Soboliev V. Oleksandr, Voitenko V. Oleksii, Bombela O. Vladyslav and Kutsyi Ruslan.

Another 95 Ukrainian defenders were returned from captivity. Five of them are from Vinnytsia oblast. All of those released this time are men.

Kirovohrad oblast

Serhii Kuzmenko, Head of Oleksandriia community, reported that Serhii Beresniev and Oleksandr Zhuravlov were killed in the war with russia.

Poltava oblast

By a presidential decree, the fallen soldiers from Poltava oblast were posthumously awarded the Order for Courage, III class. The awards were presented to the families of the defenders of Ukraine. Oleksandr Vasetskyi, born in 1986, was killed on 1 November 2023 under enemy fire near Pavlivka, Donetsk oblast. He received injuries incompatible with life. Roman Zub, born in 1987, on 29 September 2023, was killed during a mortar attack near Minkivka, Donetsk oblast.

Cherkasy oblast

The staff of Cherkasy Regional Philharmonic and volunteers donated a pick-up truck to one of the assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To buy it, they raised UAH 240,000 over two months.

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, reported that there are four people from Cherkasy among those released from captivity. They are Sergeant Yevhen Krykun, soldiers Rodion Fediuk, Dmytro Zinchenko and Oleksandr Taran.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday, 16 July, the occupiers carried out 357 strikes on 11 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted three airstrikes on Robotyne, Huliaipole, and Zaliznychne. A total of 144 UAVs of various modifications attacked Chervonodniprovka, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Malynivka, and Uspenivka. Additionally, 14 MLRS strikes targeted Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka, and Huliaipole, while 196 artillery strikes hit the areas of Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Levadne. There were seven reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.

Four fires were reported in the settlements of Zaporizhzhia and Polohy regions due to russian shelling. A cottage burned over an area of 100 sq m in the village of Chervonodniprovka, and three outbuildings caught fire in the city of Orikhiv, covering a total area of 100 sq m.

It is reported that the occupiers continued trying to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions towards Huliaipole and Orikhiv. However, four russian attacks were unsuccessful in the areas of Marfopil, Mala Tokmachka and Novoandriivka.

Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) demanding that families be allowed to bury two teenagers, Tihran Ohannisian and Mykyta Khanhanov, who were executed by russia last year in Berdiansk. According to information received by Dmytro Lubinets, the russians plan to secretly bury the boys. The official emphasised that under international humanitarian law and the Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August, 1949, parties to a conflict must facilitate the return of remains if requested by the opposing side or the relatives of the deceased.

Mykolaiv oblast

Yesterday, 16 July, at 3:51pm, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community with an FPV kamikaze drone. As a result of the attack, a forest belt and dry grass caught fire outside the settlement. The fire was promptly extinguished by firefighters.

Odesa oblast

According to the Air Force, late on 16 July, russian troops attacked Odesa oblast with a ballistic missile, likely an Iskander-M. The missile was launched from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea. 

As of 6:30am, 17 July, there are no enemy ships in the Black Sea. Three enemy ships are present in the Sea of Azov, and one enemy ship, a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles with a total salvo of up to eight missiles, is in the Mediterranean Sea.

In the past 24 hours, two ships passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea and five ships into the Sea of Azov in the interests of the russian federation.

A sports fishing competition for crucian carp was held among military personnel who had sustained serious injuries in Odesa oblast. Wounded military personnel from both the Naval Forces and other Defense Forces of Ukraine participated in the tournament. The event was organised to support the psychological recovery and rehabilitation of Ukraine’s defenders.

Kherson oblast

In the morning, russian troops struck Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 47-year-old woman suffered explosive injuries and shrapnel wounds to the head due to enemy shelling.

Eight people were injured in Kherson oblast due to russian attacks. The russian military again targeted civilian infrastructure in Beryslav and Kherson regions using artillery, mortars, tanks, UAVs, aircraft, and launching a missile strike on the regional centre. The towns affected by combined enemy shelling include Kherson, Antonivka, Tokarivka, Sadove, Komyshany, Stanislav, Beryslav, Burhunka, Mykhailivka, Tomaryne, Zolota Balka and Tiahynka. 19 private houses, seven multi-story buildings, a kindergarten, two cars, and two hangars were damaged as a result of russian attacks.

South Defense Forces continue to fire on enemy positions, fire positions, and rear areas. Yesterday, confirmed losses of the enemy amounted to 144 personnel and 42 units of weapons and military equipment. Eight ammunition storage sites, three material-technical resources storage sites, four observation posts, two fire positions, and one minefield were destroyed.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk community sent 40 Mavic drones (20 Mavic 3 and 20 Mavic 3T) to the 100th Separate Mechanised Brigades thanks to the budget funds.

Lutsk City Council reported that the Military Unit A4773 will receive a DJI Mavic 3 Thermal quadcopter.

Zakarpattia oblast

In Zakarpattia, 126 veterans applied for free dental prosthetics within the framework of the expanded regional program. In particular, 52 of them have already provided the necessary services. The cost of the performed work in the amount of over UAH 500,000 was reimbursed to dental institutions and FOP medics. In this year’s regional budget, UAH 1.5m were allocated for free dental prosthetics services.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Excursion tours for families of fallen defenders continue in Prykarpattia as part of the Care for the Hero’s Family project. This week, 16 native Heroes went on a trip to Osmolodu. The trip began with a visit to the former residence of Andrii Sheptytskyi, which is also well known as the Cedar Chambers.

Lviv oblast

Oleh Haevskyi, military servicemen from the village of Krushelnytsia, Skoliv community, was awarded with the For Military Service to Ukraine medal. This is not the 1st honour of a warrior. In February of this year, Oleh Haevskyi received the Silver Cross badge of honour for the successful completion of combat missions.

Rivne oblast

The For the Defense of Ukraine presidential award (posthumously) was awarded to relatives of police lieutenant Andrii Pavliuk, who fought as part of the Safari Assault Regiment of the National Police Brigade Lyut. He was killed while performing a combat mission in December 2023 near Klishchiivka, Donetsk oblast.

Ternopil oblast

The RMA reported that in Ternopil, the forum Veterans – the way home: the capacity of communities to protect the rights and meet the needs of veterans will be held.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community sent 10 DJI MAVIC 3T Enterprise Quadcopters worth almost UAH 1m to the military thanks to the budget funds. Since the beginning of the year, over 330 contracted quadcopters, about 3,800 pieces and over 80 electronic devices and electronic devices have been sent to the military.

In Bukovyna, defenders can get dental prosthetics services free of charge. Men and women defenders can receive medical care for dental prosthetics in the amount of almost UAH 15,000 and almost UAH 25,000 for therapeutic treatment and dental surgery. At the expense of the funds of the regional budget within the framework of the Regional program of social support of defenders and their family members for the year 2024 in Chernivtsi oblast, UAH 2m are provided for these needs. In Bukovina, 57 people have already received these services for the amount of almost UAH 970,000.

For the protection of the state, patriotism and exemplary performance of official duties, servicemen of the military unit 4815 were awarded the medals of Chernivtsi Military District.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister, announced that the 1st 50,000 shells from the Czech Initiative have arrived in Ukraine, some of them are already at the front.

Svenja Schultze, Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, stated that the country will allocate €10m for the reconstruction of Okhmatdyt. The funds will be used to quickly return the hospital to working condition and prepare the building for operation in the winter. Earlier, Germany declared that it was ready to accept children from Okhmatdyt for treatment.

Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister, announced that Ukraine and the Czech Republic signed agreements on joint production of weapons. According to one of these agreements, a new cartridge factory will be built in Ukraine. The relevant agreement was signed between the Sellier & Bellot Czech company and Ukroboronservice. In addition, assault rifles of the Colt CZ Group company will be produced in Ukraine, the corresponding agreement was signed between Česká zbrojovka and an unnamed Ukrainian enterprise.

MEPs called to deprive Hungary of the right to vote in the EU after Orban’s visits to russia and China. 63 MEPs called to suspend Hungary’s right to vote in the EU Council, because practice has shown that simple verbal condemnation of this situation has no effect.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees. They discussed humanitarian support to Ukraine and assistance in preparing for the winter period.
