War in Ukraine today: latest news, 16 July, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 874th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

Russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. Instead, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are disrupting the enemy’s insidious plans, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.

In total, there have been 65 combat engagements since the beginning of the day.

Today, the enemy fired an X-59 missile at the village of Holinka in Chernihiv oblast.

At the same time, from the russian cities of Belgorod and Shebekino, the russians launched 12 airstrikes using 25 combat aircraft. They targeted the areas of the Ukrainian settlements of Lyptsi, Vovchansk, Veterynarne, Starytsia and Vovchanski Khutory in Kharkiv oblast.

In addition, towards Kharkiv, the russians attacked the defensive lines of our units near Vovchansk and Hlyboke four times.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy launched eight assault attacks near Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Synkivka, Berestove and Andriivka. Six battles ended, two more are ongoing.

Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked five times near Nevske and Makiivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks, and another is ongoing.

Towards Siversk, the enemy attacked seven times near Verkhnokamianske, Pereizne and Pivnichne. Ukrainian troops repelled six attacks, and another combat engagement is ongoing.

Towards Kramatorsk, the invaders made five assault attacks.  Ukrainian defence forces stopped two russian attacks near Opytne and Chasiv Yar, three more attacks are ongoing near Klishchiivka.

Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked six times near Pivnichne, Toretsk and Niu-York. Four of the battles ended without success for the occupants, and two more are ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, since the beginning of the day, the invaders have made the largest number of attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Vozdvyzhenka, Progress, Novoselivka Persha and Umanske. The defence forces are holding back the enemy’s offensive and have repelled nine attacks, five firefights are still ongoing. The enemy’s losses are being clarified.

Towards Kurakhove, the enemy became more active, attacking 12 times near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka and Paraskoviivka. Eight battles were completed, four are ongoing.

Towards Vremivka, the invaders attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions near Vodiane twice. As a result of the clashes, the russians were defeated.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy tried to break through Ukrainian defences near Mala Tokmachka and Novoandriivka, but failed.

It is worth noting that the situation on other frontlines has not changed significantly.

Viktor Liashko, Head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, reported that one of the buildings of the Okhmatdyt hospital is not subject to restoration, but this will become known after the technical inspection of the building. The unrecoverable buildings will be demolished and a new modern building will be built. A comprehensive assessment of the damage is currently underway. Charitable foundations have already donated over UAH 800m million to the hospital’s accounts. Next week, a company will be selected to rebuild and eliminate the consequences of the missile attack. A blood centre has also been launched at the medical facility. The next step is to return cancer patients to the hospital.

Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov informed that the government is allocating UAH 1.65bn to purchase modern equipment for the updated Defence of Ukraine course. Training centres for this course will be set up in cities – one centre will be designed for 5-10 schools or a community. They will be equipped with modern technology, including interactive shooting simulators, drone control simulators, first aid kits and cardiac resuscitation simulators, etc.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

At 1:01am, the russians attacked a farm in Lypchanivka village of Kunie community, Izium region.

As a result of the shelling, a warehouse building was on fire.

Yesterday at 11:46pm, russians attacked Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi village of Kupiansk community, Kupiansk region. The shelling destroyed an outbuilding and nine private houses.

At 11:30pm, russians attacked Kindrashivka village, Kupiansk region. Six private houses were damaged as a result of the shelling by the KAB. A 52-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman were injured.

At 6:18pm, russians attacked Bilyi Kolodiaz village of Vovchansk community, Chuhuiv region. As a result of the shelling by KAB-3 UMPB D-30, the structural elements of two outbuildings were burning. Six residential buildings were damaged.

At 6:05pm, russians attacked beyond Berezove village of Shevchenkove community, Kupiansk region. As a result of the shelling, grass was burning in an open area.

At 1:37pm, russians attacked Ruski Tyshky village pf Tsyrkuny community, Kharkiv region. A private house and two outbuildings burned as a result of mortar shelling.

At 12pm, russians attacked Kupiansk. As a result of the shelling, a forest was on fire.

There were 18 combat engagements towards Kharkiv in total. The fighting continued near Vovchansk and Hlyboke. The enemy was actively using aviation to support the assault.

Towards Kupiansk, the number of attacks totalled five yesterday. Ukrainian defence forces repelled the enemy’s assault near Petropavlivka in Kharkiv region and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk region.

The enemy is targeting forest plantations. Firefighting is complicated due to constant repeated attacks. Emergency power outage schedules are currently in place in the oblast due to the shutdown of certain energy equipment.

Donetsk oblast

Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that russian troops struck three times at Pokrovsk, hitting residential buildings and a cemetery. Four people were injured and seven buildings damaged.

Roman Padun, Head of the CMA, informed that in the morning of 16 July, the russian army shelled Stepanivka village of Kurakhove community, no one was injured or killed.

Selydove CMA reported that one person was injured as a result of a russian attack on Ukrainsk. The town was shelled around 7am. Later, the russians struck again, damaging houses, cars and garages. The town was probably hit with a Uragan multiple rocket launcher system.

Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi said that in the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk oblast, the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit an S-300 system. The strike was carried out by missile troops in cooperation with other units of the Defence Forces.  According to the data released by Petro Andriushchenko, Mariupol Mayor’s Councillor, the S-300 system was hit near Manhush, Mariupol region. The attack was carried out by an ATACMS missile.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) said that Donetsk rescuers defused a russian FAB-500 bomb in Volnovakha region.  The munition was found in a field near Rozdolne village.

The Institute for the Study of War reports that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have regained positions south of Toretsk.  The Ukrainian military retook positions in the southern part of Niu-York village.

Police recorded 2,578 enemy attacks in the oblast yesterday. The russian troops attacked 8 settlements: Lyman, Myrnohrad, Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, Illinka, Berestok, Marynivka and Mykolaivka.

Nine civilian objects were damaged, including three residential buildings, shops, an infrastructure facility and cars.

The russians dropped two KAB-250 guided bombs on Lyman, injuring five civilians and damaging a private house and infrastructure.

In Chasiv Yar, two civilians were injured by shelling. Another civilian was injured and a private house damaged in Illinka.

The invaders struck the outskirts of Myrnohrad with an UMPB D-30SN bomb, no one was injured.

The bodies of a 69-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman, who were killed in an enemy shelling on 14 July, have been recovered from the rubble of a five-storey building in Myrnohrad. The search and rescue operation has been completed. Thus, the death toll from the shelling of the house increased to three. Seven more residents were injured.

Toretsk and the neighbouring Niu-York village have been on the frontline for ten years. People here are used to fighting, but not to this intensity. A new russian offensive began on 19 June. Both settlements began to be erased by anti-aircraft guns. The russian offensive on Toretsk and Niu-York is another way deeper into Donetsk oblast. Before the June assault, Chasiv Yar was the most critical point.

The CMA reported that the operating theatre, diagnostic and intensive care units in the basement of Pokrovsk Clinical Hospital are to be completed by early 2025. The underground part of the hospital is being built on an area of about 600 sq m in the basement of Pokrovsk hospital.

In Sloviansk, IDPs can live free of charge in apartments purchased at the expense of the city budget. They only have to pay for utilities. Currently, 27 families are living in these temporary homes. 

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the invaders shelled Nevske and Makiivka four times with multiple rocket launchers.

The enemy also attacked these villages by cannon artillery and carried out drops from drones.

Near Makiivka, the enemy stormed our positions with the support of aviation. The russians tried to break through the defences of the Ukrainian army near Stelmakhivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka.

In July, units of the so-called “youth army” from Bilovodsk region were invited to a military-patriotic training camp in moscow region. At the end of the intensive training, the russian military took exams from young men from the occupied Luhansk oblast. They had to demonstrate their skills in firearms training, UAV control and tactical medicine. Training and selection for the aggressor’s army is carried out from childhood.

For more than two years, Pryvillia and Novodruzhesk, which are located near Lysychansk, have been without electricity. The invaders are not repairing anything there. There is no centralised water supply in these towns either. Water of poor quality is delivered there by tractor. Deliveries are irregular. Those who were the first to collect water stock up. During the summer heat, this problem has only worsened.

In the cities of Pryvillia and Novodruzhesk in the occupied Luhansk oblast, there has been no electricity or water supply for two years. Water is either not delivered at all or in old barrels.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to the RMA, at night, the enemy attacked Kyiv oblast with striking drones. The air raid alert was announced twice and lasted almost all night. Air defence forces were working in the region. In one of the settlements, debris fell on a private yard, causing a fire. Two non-residential buildings were damaged, including broken windows and cut facades. Debris was also seen falling outside the settlements in the open countryside.

International Monetary Fund experts begin work in Kyiv. The IMF team, led by Gavin Gray, will meet with Ukrainian authorities and other partners. 

Kyiv City Military Administration announced that the cat found by Kyiv rescuers in the ruins of a residential building on Salskoho Street was taken by its owner. The animal suffered contusion after a russian missile strike on 8 July and spent a day and a half under the rubble. The animal was undergoing rehabilitation at a veterinary clinic.

The Ukrainian Women’s Guard has announced an event on 16 July called “Mental Health and Body Recovery”. Participants will learn about cultivating a positive mindset in times of war, the importance of family and friend support, and methods and techniques of self-soothing that can be used in acute stress. The course is scheduled to take place at Borodianka Clinical Hospital.

The Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine reported that the government has adopted a resolution to standardise the tombstones to be installed at the National Military Memorial Cemetery in Kyiv oblast.

Kyiv City Military Administration stated that condominium associations and housing cooperatives in Kyiv can receive grants for the installation of solar power plants, heat pumps and related equipment. This opportunity is provided by the Greendome programme of the Energy Efficiency Fund.

According to the city council, the Irpin animal shelter takes in evacuated dogs and cats from the war zone. The facility currently houses more than half a thousand rescued pets. Volunteers give a month’s supply of food to everyone who adopts an animal. 

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr oblast, due to the difficult situation in the power grid, on 16 July, household consumers will be disconnected hourly in 4 stages, Zhytomyroblenerho reported.

Due to the lack of electricity in Zhytomyr, there may be restrictions on water supply.  According to the city council, Zhytomyrvodokanal will turn on generators at the de-energised pumping stations to resume water supply.

The RMA announced that Malyn Resilience Centre provides social services and psychological assistance. The main goal of the Centre is to reduce the overall level of stress and anxiety of citizens, as well as to develop first aid skills for themselves and their loved ones.

Sumy oblast

At night and in the morning of 16 July, russians fired three times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. A total of 6 explosions were recorded.  The enemy attacked the territory of Myropillia community with an air defence system, and one FPV drone strike was recorded in Bilopillia and Esman communities.

The regional military administration reported that on 15 July, the russian military fired 13 times in Sumy oblast. A total of 46 explosions were recorded. Six border communities were shelled.

The enemy struck Krasnopillia community with artillery (11 explosions). According to the North operational command, a power line was damaged in Uhroidy.

Two mines were dropped on Velyka Pysarivka community. There was also artillery shelling (10 explosions) and shelling with the use of seven FPV drones (7 explosions). According to the North military command, the attacks damaged a critical infrastructure facility in the community.

Bilopillia community was attacked with two FPV drones (2 explosions). In Seredyna-Buda community, shelling with the use of five Kamikaze FPV drones was recorded (5 explosions). Nova Sloboda community was attacked with one FPV drone (1 explosion).

Sumy City Council informed that the russian military shelled Khotyn community with mortars (8 explosions).

On 15 July, 16 families of the fallen defenders of Ukraine received certificates of Honorary Citizen of Sumy.

An event was held in Okhtyrka to mark the Day of Ukrainian Statehood. Volunteers who make camouflage for defenders showed an exhibition called “Knots of Fortitude and Resilience”. They also organised a concert and a fundraiser for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.  

Chernihiv oblast

The SBGS reported that over the past 24 hours, russian troops attacked the border community Semenivka in Chernihiv oblast with FPV drones and mortars. A total of 12 attacks were recorded in the direction of the settlements of Tymonovychi, Leonivka and Bleshnia.

According to Chernihiv City Council’s Education Department, the basement of School №18 in Chernihiv, which was destroyed by a russian air strike, is to be preserved. The rubble is currently being cleared and construction debris is being removed from the area. The basement of the school was not damaged, so they are now studying the possibility of using it as a shelter in the future.

Andrii Haliuha, head of the Association of Volunteers ’Because We Can!’ NGO, reported that Volunteers from Chernihiv oblast, who organised the production of staples for dugouts a month ago, have made and sent more than 4,000 of these metal staples to the frontline. The staples are made in the yard of one of the volunteers, and the materials are bought with money from donations.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

At night, an enemy reconnaissance drone was shot down over the oblast. Nikopol region was shelled. The enemy attacked the regional centre and Marhanets community with kamikaze drones. A private house was damaged. People were not injured.

During the day, the invaders were shelling Nikopol region. Artillery and kamikaze drones were used to target the regional centre, Pokrovsk and Marhanets communities. The shelling caused several fires, the roofs of two private houses burned, two outbuildings caught on fire and one was completely destroyed. A shop, an enterprise, 17 private houses, 14 outbuildings, almost three dozen solar panels, a car, 2 minibuses, power lines and a gas pipeline were damaged. There were no casualties.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​Deputy Mayor Andrii Ocheretnyi reported that three Mavics were sent to the front from Vinnytsia. Vinnytsia oblast supports 37 military formations on a regular basis.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave a passport to the daughter of a border guard of Mohyliv-Podilskyi detachment. Mariia Melnyk is the daughter of border guard hero Serhii Melnyk, who was killed on 11 October 2023 in Luhansk oblast.

Kirovohrad oblast

Vitalii Tupakov, born in 1993, from Dobrovelychkivka community, was killed in the russian-Ukrainian war on 12 July 2024 near Vovchansk, Kharkiv oblast. After a drone attack, he sustained an injury incompatible with life.

Poltava oblast

On 17 July, residents of Reshetylivka will pay tribute to Vitalii Kivitko. The soldier was killed in January 2024, and had been missing for about six months. His death was confirmed after the exchange of bodies and examinations.

A charity photo project of memories of Bakhmut residents called “Bakhmut Before” will be held in Poltava from 17 to 19 July. The exhibition will feature real photographs that Bakhmut residents have kept in their photo galleries. These are their memories of the city before the full-scale invasion and its complete destruction. The event will also raise money for the needs of the military.

Cherkasy oblast

A memorial plaque was unveiled in Polovynchyk village on the newly created Walk of Fame. The plaque was unveiled in honour of Oleksandr Mokrynchuk. The soldier defended his homeland from the first days of the full-scale war. On 2 May 2022, during a mortar attack near Sievierodonetsk, a soldier of the 115th Separate Mechanised Brigade, Oleksandr Mokrynchuk, sustained an explosive injury incompatible with life.

Servicemen from Cherkasy were presented with awards on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Statehood in Kholodnyi Yar. The soldiers were awarded medals from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Minister of Defence of Ukraine. Valerii Zhukovskyi, former deputy commander of the 157th separate battalion, now retired, received the Military Honour Cross.

The For Injury award was given to the brigade’s reconnaissance man Ihor Asauliak, call sign Rasmus.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On 15 July, the occupiers launched 416 attacks on 8 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 

The russian forces conducted 7 airstrikes on Rizdvianka, Robotyne, Novoandriivka and Huliaipole. 

190 UAVs of various modifications attacked Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Robotyne, Malynivka and Novoandriivka. 

13 MLRS attacks covered Huliaipole, Novodanylivka and Robotyne. 

206 artillery strikes were carried out on the territories of Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Malynivka and Levadne. 

There were 12 reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure. No civilians were injured.

Zaporizhzhia was visited by Ruslana Velychko-Trifoniuk, Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for European Integration. She held a meeting with regional representatives on the implementation of veteran policies in the oblast. Ensuring support for veterans, creating conditions for the implementation of veteran policies in communities through unified approaches that are clear and understandable to veterans, their families and families of fallen defenders are the main tasks of today.

In Melitopol, occupiers are forcing farmers to sell their harvest for pennies. From the very beginning of the invasion, the russians did not hide that they were going to plunder the captured territories. Near the top of their priorities was the export of Ukrainian grain from the south, long considered a breadbasket. They transported it by hundreds of trucks, railcars and ships. To prevent farmers in the occupied territories from selling grain independently, they created the “State Grain Operator” (SGO). This monopoly buys the harvest and sends it to russia. Selling grain independently is simply not feasible. The monopolist buys this “gold” at laughable and unacceptable prices for farmers, which turned out to be twice as low as in Ukraine. Local farmers are forced to comply with the occupiers’ rules as they risk losing all their property.

Mykolaiv oblast

The russian forces continue to shell Mykolaiv oblast. On 15 July, a missile exploded in the air over Bashtanka region. The debris from the enemy missile caused dry grass to catch fire in an open area, which firefighters quickly extinguished.

That same day in the evening, at 5:15pm, and this morning, 16 July, at 5:17am and 5:50am, enemy artillery shelling targeted Ochakiv, the waters of Ochakiv community, and Kutsurub community. There were no casualties reported.

Lucia Elmi, Director of UNICEF’s Global Humanitarian Programs Office, visited Mykolaiv. She met with Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych and representatives of Youth Policy Council to discuss the challenges currently facing Mykolaiv’s youth. The event took place at Mykolaiv City Youth Space, which was opened with the support of UNICEF and the people of Japan. Representatives of Youth Council shared their plans for the further work of the space, emphasising its importance for the youth of Mykolaiv and support for youth initiatives.

Odesa oblast

Odesa actively supports internally displaced persons, helping them find employment and realise their professional potential in a new environment. One of the main tools for this assistance is the Municipal Employment Promotion Centre, which has been operating for 2 years under the slogan: Odesa labour market – Anchor in Odesa. Odesa City Council reports that the centre provides comprehensive assistance, including consultations on the local labour market, opportunities for professional training and establishing contacts with potential employers.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, reported that on 16 July, the occupying forces shelled a market in Kherson, damaging a business centre and commercial premises. An elderly woman and a volunteer were injured.Also russian forces attacked a repair crew fixing gas equipment in Antonivka by a drone. Currently, 1 casualty is reported: a 54-year-old worker was hospitalised with a concussion, shrapnel wounds to the lower back and thigh, and blast and cranial injuries.

On 15 July, the occupying forces attacked 15 settlements in the oblast: Sadove, Kizomys, Antonivka, Mykhailivka, Veletenske, Tokarivka, Odradokamianka, Sofiivka, Beryslav, Burgunka, Lvove, Mylove, Novovorontsovka, Zmiivka and Kherson. Due to russian aggression, 6 people were injured.

Shelling by the occupying forces damaged a preschool, an administrative building, an apartment building, 15 private houses, an outbuilding, a garage and private cars. Roman Mrochko, Head of Kherson CMA, reported that the territorial community was shelled 11 times.

On 15 July, russian forces shelled Veletenske village in Kherson oblast. A 74-year-old local woman was hit by shelling in her yard. On the same day, Sadove village was also shelled and a man sought medical attention afterwards.

Also, russian aviation struck with guided bombs on Burhunka and Tiahynka villages in Beryslav region. The airstrike damaged the territory of an educational institution in Tiahynka. There is currently no information about casualties from the attack. It is known that the enemy attacks Kherson oblast from Su-34 aircraft, which launch missiles and guided bombs from the territory of the occupied left bank of the oblast.

In a quarry near Arkhanhelske, a 27-year-old man driving a grader hit an unknown explosive device, which detonated. As a result of the explosion, the special equipment was mechanically damaged and the driver diagnosed with blast injuries, a concussion and wounds to the torso and head.

UN humanitarian coordinator Denise Brown arrived in Kherson. During the meeting, the support of international organisations for the establishment of underground hospitals in Kherson oblast was discussed. The coordinator visited a dormitory for internally displaced persons. Their homes were destroyed by flooding after the russian military blew up Kakhovka HPP and damaged by shelling. The visit resulted in an agreement to finance repair work to create more comfortable living conditions for people affected by russian armed aggression.

Volyn oblast

Lutsk City Council reported that the Military Unit 4788 received 2 Kraft Dele KD 164 gasoline generators and 4 EcoFlow Delta 2 charging stations.

Zakarpattia oblast

211 enterprises of Zakarpattia received partial compensation to purchase alternative sources of energy supply within the framework of the Energy Help regional program. From the beginning of 2023, entrepreneurs have already been reimbursed or will be reimbursed UAH 26.3m for the installation of 300 pieces of equipment. This list includes 186 generators, 61 batteries, 22 charging stations, 19 solar power plants and 12 inverters.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Mykola Bomka, Staff Sergeant of the National Guard from Bolekhov, was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Golden Star order. After the start of a full-scale war, Mykola and his 2 sons went to defend the country. The Hero was killed on 1 June, 2023, near Spirne, Bakhmut region.

Lviv oblast

The 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis received 20 FPV drones, which were purchased with funds from the auction, which was held on 30 May with the initiative and support of Kolomyia RMA and the Edelveis Mountain Assault Brigade Support Fund public organisation under the slogan Strong When United.

A charity auction was held in Strii region. In total, the amount of funds raised is UAH 16m. The funds will be donated to the military.

In Lviv oblast, veterans continue to be taught adaptive sports free of charge within the framework of the League of the Invincibles project. The day before, another open inclusive training for defenders was conducted with archery. 20 military men who are currently undergoing rehabilitation in the oblast took part in the sports training.

A solemn event Prayer to Ukraine was held in Lviv near the monument to Taras Shevchenko. Creative collectives of the oblast, clergy, government officials and the public gathered here. Heads of churches of various denominations prayed for peace in Ukraine. Also, the military orchestra of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi performed patriotic songs

Rivne oblast

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decision on the allocation and distribution of funds for the construction of shelters in 13 regions of the country, including Rivne oblast. The subsidy will be directed to the implementation of projects related to new construction, reconstruction and capital repair of the fund of protective structures of civil protection in medical facilities. In Rivne oblast, a new storage facility will be built in the regional children’s hospital, and the existing one will be equipped in the adult hospital. The cost of both projects will reach about UAH 40m. In total, 45 projects from health care institutions were selected for a total amount of about UAH 1bn.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council sent a EW to the military of the 55th Battalion. Such equipment has already begun to be manufactured in Ternopil.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The Brama Cherna charity festival was held in the Taras Shevchenko Central Park of Culture and Recreation. It is being held in Bukovyna for the 2nd time. The purpose of the festival is to raise funds for the needs of the 107th Territorial Defense Brigade. The festival featured an exhibition of military vehicles, Cossack cuisine, and performances by local musicians. Those present also had the opportunity to acquire skills in tactical medicine, try to operate drones and attend master classes. Organisers held a charity auction at which many interesting lots were presented, including cartridges, paintings, a combat flag of territorial defence, etc.

The Ministry of Defense of Spain reported that the country began sending a new batch of military aid to Ukraine, including 10 Leopard 2A4 battle tanks, several excavators and a large number of anti-tank missiles. The agency noted that a new batch of aid will arrive in Poland this weekend, after which it will be delivered to the Ukrainian military.

The Lithuanian company announced the shipment of Vilnius CHP-3 equipment to Ukraine. The agreement on the provision of humanitarian aid was signed by Ignitis Gamyba and the operator of the Khmelnytskoblenerho electricity transmission system, which, on the instructions of the Cabinet of Ministers, will deal with the distribution of equipment after receiving it.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed a memorandum with the ICEYE Finnish company, which specialises in satellite technologies. The company manufactures microsatellites and owns one of the world’s largest arrays of radar satellites. This agreement is aimed at deepening cooperation in the field of space intelligence, which is important for the national security and defence of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Education of Lithuania reported that since 2022, the country has allowed Ukrainians who escaped the war to study in its higher education institutions for free. Students who have already enrolled will be able to complete it free of charge, but from September of this year, this scheme will not be available to new students from Ukraine. This is the desire of the Ukrainian side. There are higher educational institutions in Ukraine, and at the moment there is no need to transfer studies to another place.

From 22 March to 14 July, the Tiger In The Garden. The Art Of Maria Prymachenko exhibition of the Ukrainian folk artist, who worked in the genre of naive art, ran in the Warsaw Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition became one of the most popular projects of the museum. It was visited by 33,333 spectators.
