It has been the 1210 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

Defence forces are taking measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory.

Since the beginning of the day, 78 firefights have taken place.

Hostile artillery fire affected the communities of border settlements, including Berylivka, Synkivka, Hasychivka, Khrinivka, Mykolaivka, Arkhipivka, Leonivka in Chernihiv oblast; Chernatske, Bachivsk, Vilna Sloboda, Bila Bereza, Starykove, Boiar-Lezhachi, Myropilske, Prokhody, Turia, Hrabovske in Sumy oblast; Vidrodzhenivske, Tymofiivka in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards North Slobozhanske and Kursk, 13 combat engagements took place since the beginning of the day, five of which are ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out 5 air strikes, dropping eight guided aerial bombs, and fired 132 times at Ukrainian troops’ positions and settlements, including two times from multiple launch rocket systems.

Towards South Slobozhanske, the Defence Forces repelled an enemy attack near Dovhenke.

Towards Kupiansk, russian invaders unsuccessfully tried to break through our defences near Stepova Novoselivka.

Towards Lyman, the invading army launched seven attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units near Lipove and towards Olhivka, Shandryholove and Serebrianka forest. Four combat engagements are ongoing.

Towards Siversk, Ukrainian defence forces repelled an enemy attack towards Serebrianka.

Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders stopped seven enemy attacks in the area of Kurdiumivka and in the direction of Predtechyne and Bila Hora.

Towards Toretsk, the enemy carried out five assault actions towards Shcherbynivka and Yablunivka. One battle is still ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the russian invaders made 29 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Poltavka, Malynivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Udachne, Horikhove, Novopavlivka and Oleksiivka. The defence forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 28 enemy attacks, with one battle still ongoing. The areas of Kopteve and Razine came under air strikes.

Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy tried to break through the defences of our defenders in the areas of Odradne, Vilne Pole, Bahatyr and towards Zaporizhzhia, Myrne and Shevchenko. The defence forces successfully repelled 10 enemy attacks, and two more attacks are still ongoing.

Towards Huliaipole, our defenders are repelling an enemy attack near Malynivka. The areas of Uspenivka, Malynivka and Poltavka came under air strikes.

No combat engagements were recorded towards Orikhiv.

Towards Kherson, Ukrainian troops repelled an attack by the occupants in the area of Antonivskyi Bridge. 

In other sectors, the situation remained unchanged.


Maksym Turkevych, Director of the National Programme “Unburnt”, and dermatologist Oleksandr Turkevych reported that doctors will help a Ukrainian soldier remove the inscription “Glory to russia” from his body, which was burned by the occupiers in captivity. The soldier was taken prisoner more than 15 months ago after being wounded. When he regained consciousness after surgery, he saw the inscription left by the russian surgeon. 

Ukrainian developers have created an electronic warfare device that jams enemy Mavic drones and is equipped with remote control. The electronic warfare device is called Algiz AM and has already proven itself at the frontline. It can change the direction of radiation by 360°, responding quickly to threats, is equipped with remote control – operators can work from cover, and the mobile platform ensures quick deployment and manoeuvrability in the field. The innovation was developed by the Brave1 cluster and will be rapidly delivered to the battlefield with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

Yesterday 186 combat engagements were registered. Towards South Slobozhanske, the enemy stormed the positions of our units four times in the areas of Dovhenke and Kamianka.

Towards Kupiansk, four enemy attacks took place yesterday. The defence forces repelled the enemy’s assault in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka, Zahryzove and in the direction of Holubivka and Petropavlivka.

Attacks

The occupiers attacked the territory of the Bohodukhiv community. At about 11am, in a field near the village of Ripky, an enemy drone hit a utility truck. The 52-year-old driver was injured. Medics treated him on the spot.

Over the past day, 2 settlements in Kharkiv oblast came under hostile attack. Two people were injured in the shelling.

A 69-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were injured in Kupiansk. 

The enemy used 5 UAVs and 1 Shahed type UAV in Kharkiv oblast.

In Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi village, Kupiansk region, 10 private houses and an apartment building were damaged.

Other

After the massive attacks on Kharkiv in early June, additional rescue forces from seven regions of Ukraine were sent to the city. More than 30 people and 10 vehicles are currently working there.

Donetsk oblast

Frontline

Nazar Voitenkov, Spokesman for the 33rd Brigade, stated that Ukrainian troops are holding the line in the village of Bahatyr towards Novopavlivka. The fighting is taking place directly in the village, with russian troops storming the village from one to four times a day. Since the beginning of June, the occupiers have lost about 60 russian infantrymen in the fighting for Bahatyr.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that russian troops continue to attack and exert pressure towards Pokrovsk. Yesterday the occupiers stormed the positions of the Defence Forces 56 times near Popovyi Yar, Myroliubivka, Shevchenko Pershyi, Promin, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Horikhove, Kotliarivka, Novopavlivka, Andriivka and Oleksiivka.

Compared to the day before, russian troops increased the number of attacks towards Kramatorsk and Toretsk, while there were fewer attacks towards Siversk, Lyman and Novopavlivka.

Attacks

Serhii Horbunov, Head of the CMA, said that two people were wounded in the russian shelling of Kostiantynivka. The occupiers hit a civilian car with an FPV drone. The second strike damaged the facade of a school, but there were no casualties. Russian invaders also carried out an air strike on the private sector of Kostiantynivka, wounding one person and damaging six private houses.

Yesterday police recorded 2,942 hostile attacks along the frontline and in the residential sector. The attacks took place in 18 localities. 45 civilian objects were damaged, including 29 residential buildings.

In Pokrovsk, russians killed a civilian and damaged a private house.

The enemy attacked Dmytro-Darivka of Oleksandrivka community with two Geranium-2 UAVs, resulting in one wounded person, damage to 4 private houses and 2 non-residential buildings.

In Kramatorsk, a drone hit damaged a post office building and a car wash. In Sviatohirsk, an enemy drone damaged a recreation centre.

Lyman suffered attacks by FPV drones and artillery – three private houses, a cultural centre and a civilian bus were damaged. In Novoselivka, one house was damaged.

The occupiers dropped a KAB-250 bomb and sent a drone to Konstiantynivka, damaging 5 private houses. Another 5 houses were damaged as a result of shelling in Bilokuzmynivka. In Yablunivka, a drone hit a private household.

Russia attacked Dobropillia with two Geranium-2 UAVs, damaging three houses in the private sector. Two more drones damaged three houses in Novyi Donbas.

In Rodynske, two FPV drones hit an apartment building and a civilian car.

In Shakhove, a KAB-250 bomb damaged a private house.  Drone attacks damaged a shop in Zolotyi Kolodiaz, a club, a public transport stop and a playground in Hruzke.

Luhansk oblast

The RMA said that yesterday the russians tried to advance towards Nadiia and Hrekivka. Ukrainian defenders are holding the line there. In our areas, the russian army received artillery support 35 times over the last day.

The so-called “Ministry of Digital Transformation of the Luhansk People’s Republic” is gradually transforming the occupied Luhansk oblast into an internet-free zone. It is worth reminding that there is no internet connection in frontline towns and villages. From now on, in addition, in most areas where there was a signal, the speed of mobile Internet has been reduced to a minimum. In a number of settlements, there is a complete disconnection from communication services.

The russian authorities intend to liquidate coal mining enterprises in the temporarily occupied Luhansk oblast. The Skhidvuhillia association, which included mines, was declared bankrupt, and investors from russia are refusing to make further investments. According to the founder of the Eastern Human Rights Group, Pavlo Lysianskyi, russia plans to increase coal imports from Kuzbass, russia, and the first batches of coal have already arrived at the port of temporarily occupied Mariupol.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, reported that russia carried out one of the most massive attacks during the large-scale war, using cruise missiles, UAVs, and ballistic missiles. As of 7:50 p.m., 14 people were reported dead and 117 injured in Kyiv.

Kyiv City Military Administration stated that the enemy used 175 drones, more than 14 cruise missiles, and at least two ballistic missiles on the capital and its surroundings. Between four and 14 people may be trapped under the rubble of a destroyed building in the Solomyanskyi district.

The Air Force reported that an X-101 missile hit a high-rise building in the Solomyanskyi district, destroying even the concrete floors in the basement.

Emergency rescue and search operations are continuing in Kyiv – 27 locations where rescuers, police and municipal services are working. Destruction and falling debris have been recorded in eight districts of the capital. Approximately 2,000 rescuers and law enforcement officers are working at all locations. A total of 200 units of State Emergency Service equipment are currently operating in Kyiv. Search dogs are also working at the sites.

On 17 June, as of 11:20, as a result of the enemy’s use of strike UAVs, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, the following damage was recorded:

In the Solomyanskyi district: an enemy UAV hit a dormitory (4-5 floors); a missile hit a 9-storey residential building, where a rescue operation and debris removal are ongoing; damage to a 5-storey residential building with destruction of the roof and floors; damage to a boarding school; damage to a service station; enemy air targets and debris from downed targets falling in non-residential areas in several locations.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district: destruction of an elevator shaft and an adjacent apartment as a result of an enemy UAV hitting a 12-storey residential building; damage and fire in a non-residential area.

In the Darnytskyi district: damage to a lyceum and a kindergarten; damage to the 10th-17th floors of a 20-storey residential building; broken windows in apartment buildings in several locations; damage to buildings and a Ukrzaliznytsia train; damage with fires in several locations.

In the Dnipro district: damage to the wall of a residential building due to a fragment of a downed enemy air target getting stuck in it; falling debris and damage in several locations in different parts of the district, including the Ukrzaliznytsia contact network.

In the Podil district: debris from downed aerial targets fell in several locations, with no significant damage reported so far.

In the Obolon district, a private car was damaged.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, windows of buildings and cars were damaged in several locations. Fires broke out at the site, which were extinguished by the State Emergency Service.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that, as a result of the attack, numerous vehicles were damaged, craters were left, and buildings were damaged. In total, there were more than 30 locations affected.

According to medical personnel, as of 10:00 a.m., 114 victims had been identified. Of these, 68 were hospitalised. This includes two children in Kyiv hospitals in moderate condition. The identities of four victims have been established. The identities of more than 10 other victims are also being established. In addition, there are people missing as a result of a rocket hitting a house in the Solomyanskyi district.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that cluster munitions used by the russians to increase damage were found at the site of the attack in Kyiv. Parts of these munitions were found in Nyvky, where one of the missiles struck a residential building.

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that through the shelling, the russians damaged the Intercity+ train, which was painted by American artist Barbara Kruger. Despite the attack, the train survived. The crew quickly repaired the damaged windows on the train, and at 11:36 a.m., it departed from Kyiv to Przemyśl on schedule. The installation covers all nine carriages of the Intercity+ train. This work symbolises resilience and is dedicated to Ukrainians who continue to move forward every day.

“On June 17, the enemy massively attacked Kyiv region with UAVs and missiles,” the JFO reported. “Civilian settlements of the region were under attack:

In Vyshgorod district, a woman born in 1970 was wounded. She has a cut wound on her right shoulder. A private house was also damaged there.

In Brovary district, as a result of an enemy attack, the roof of a private house caught fire and an outbuilding on the territory of the enterprise caught fire.

A private house, two cars and outbuildings were damaged in Fastiv district.

Two private houses and outbuildings were damaged in Obukhiv district.

Zhytomyr oblast

Systematic work to strengthen military and patriotic education continues in Zhytomyr region. 63 centers have already been set up to teach the subject of “Defense of Ukraine,” and a veteran hub, a space for support, development and interaction for defenders, has been launched at the Berdychiv Professional Construction Lyceum.

“A football tournament in memory of the heroic soldier Artur Galstyan was held in Obukhiv,” the OVA reported. “With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Arthur voluntarily went to the front with his father and died on January 24, 2024 near Klishchiyivka, Bakhmut district.

In Touch Ukraine Foundation and UNICEF donated aid to medical institutions in Ukraine. Hospitals in the Zhytomyr region received 51 bilirubins, 5 phototherapy devices and 10 operating lamps.

Sumy oblast

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that on 17 June, around 4pm., russian forces dropped a guided aerial bomb on civilian infrastructure in Yunakivka community. A 46-year-old man was killed in his own home — he had previously refused to evacuate.

The Regional Police informed that during the day, russian forces launched an aerial attack on the city centre of the regional capital, Sumy. The strike damaged civilian infrastructure, administrative buildings, and shattered windows in residential houses.  According to the Regional Military Administration, following overnight attacks, additional window damage was reported in residential buildings and civilian facilities, and an administrative building was also damaged.

In the morning, the enemy deliberately targeted civilians in Bilopillia community. Enemy forces attacked a motor cultivator by a drone near one of the villages close to the border with russia. As a result, two civilian men, aged 56 and 72, were injured. The younger man later died from his wounds

Around 8am., the enemy launched a missile strike on the outskirts of Konotop. As a result of the attack, private houses were damaged.

In Konotop region, a man born in 1992 stepped on an unidentified explosive device while working in his garden plot. He sustained blast injuries to both legs.

From the morning of 16 June to the morning of 17 June, russian forces carried out over 100 attacks on 35 settlements across 17 territorial communities in Sumy oblast. Sumy and Shostka regions recorded the highest number of strikes. The enemy actively used UAV-dropped explosive devices (nearly 40 strikes), MLRS (over 10 strikes), and guided aerial bombs (nearly 10 strikes). Enemy troops also launched FPV-drone and UAV attacks across the oblast.

As a result of russian shelling in Sumy oblast over the past day, the following damage was reported:

  • In Sumy community: five private residential houses, non-residential and administrative buildings, and a vehicle were damaged.
  • In Mykolaivka community: a private household and a vehicle sustained damage.

Over the past day, local authorities, together with State Emergency Service units, National Police, and NGOs from border communities, have evacuated 138 people.

Police bomb disposal experts successfully neutralised the warhead of a russian strike drone that had crashed into the yard of a private household in Sumy without detonating.

State Emergency Service (SES) announced that over the past week, 30 munitions were neutralised in Sumy oblast. The hazardous finds were discovered in Sumy, Okhtyrka, Konotop, Romny, and Shostka regions. Since the beginning of the year, 751 cases of explosive ordnance detection have been recorded.

Chernihiv oblast

In Pryluky region, the enemy struck one of the villages by a drone. As a result of the attack on Varva community, a 38-year-old woman was injured. A two-storey residential building was damaged, several garages were destroyed, and cars were also damaged.

The enemy struck a residential neighbourhood in Chernihiv by a cruise missile. According to Chernihiv City Council, the strike damaged one utility building and caused minor damage to five private residential houses.

During the night of 17 June, russian forces struck ‘Poliski Kurchata’ factory in Chernihiv by a missile. According to the factory’s owner, Oleksandr Tereshchenko, the canning workshop, refrigerators, storage facilities, shops, and the egg powder production line were destroyed by fire. The office building was also damaged. Sadly, the chickens perished.

 Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that throughout 16 June, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (25 explosions), launched ‘Molniya’-type drone strikes (3 explosions), conducted FPV-drone attacks (17 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (36 explosions). A total of 16 villages and the town of Semenivka came under enemy fire.

Department for Civil Protection and Defence Work of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration informed that in Mkhy village, Semenivka community, three uninhabited houses caught fire as a result of russian shelling. In Zarichchia village, an uninhabited house also caught fire due to explosive devices dropped from a UAV.

According to  “North” Operational Command, n Semenivka, a private house was damaged following a strike by a “Molniya”-type fixed-wing drone. Elsewhere in the community, a private house in Tymonovychi village was destroyed by enemy shelling. In Novhorod-Siverskyi region, a non-residential building was also damaged by a “Molniya”-type UAV strike.

Chernihiv Regional Military Administration announced that in Blystivka and Dihtiari educational complexes of Novhorod-Siverskyi community, and Avdiivka Lyceum of Ponornytsia community, shelter construction works have been completed. The funding was provided by German federal state of Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Late in the evening, air defence forces were active in the oblast, destroying 6 enemy UAVs.

The russian forces continued to target Nikopol region. Drones struck Marhanets community and Nikopol city. Myrove community came under Grad MLRS attack. The shelling damaged 9 private houses, 3 outbuildings, 2 cars, a minibus, a scooter, 2 garages (1 destroyed), 3 gas pipelines and 3 power lines. Also, yesterday evening, russian forces launched KABs at Novopavlivka community in Synelnykove region.

It was a difficult day for Nikopol region. The enemy continued to terrorize the area by drones and artillery. A 63-year-old man was killed in Nikopol. 2 men, aged 37 and 50, were injured and received necessary medical assistance. Overall, russian attacks targeted the regional centre and Marhanets, Myrove and Pokrov communities. Several fires broke out, destroying a car. Infrastructure was damaged, including an educational institution, 4 private houses, 5 outbuildings and an enterprise.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, reported that the night and morning in Kirovohrad oblast were marked by air raid alerts, but air defence forces were operational. There were no damage or casualties reported in the communities.

Poltava oblast

Volodymyr Kohut, Acting Head of the RMA, stated that falling debris from a russian UAV damaged a power line in Poltava oblast, leaving 43 households and 5 enterprises without electricity. Restoration work is currently underway.

In Poltava, a memorial ceremony was held for 2 soldiers. Private Ruslan Marienko was killed on 18 April 2025, while on a mission in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. Viktor Neliuba died on 12 June 2025, in Pokrovsk, Donetsk oblast, from fatal injuries sustained in combat.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, reported that 2 russian missiles and 29 UAVs were shot down over the oblast. Drone debris caused a fire in a forested area of Cherkasy oblast, which was extinguished.

In Shpola community, the deaths of Roman Sliusar and Serhii Kuzmenko were reported. Roman Sliusar was killed on 29 June 2024, near Krasnohorivka city, Donetsk oblast. Serhii Kuzmenko was killed in battle on 10 June 2025, near Poltavka village, Donetsk oblast.

In Cherkasy, the families of 3 fallen defenders received the Defender of Ukraine – Hero of Cherkasy award. The relatives of Ruslan Marchenko, Andrii Pereval and Yaroslav Strilets accepted the honours from the city mayor.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that russian forces launched at least 4 strikes on Zaporizhzhia, damaging several enterprises and residential buildings.

As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian Defence Forces are containing a russian assault near Malynivka in Huliaipole region. Airstrikes were recorded in Uspenivka, Malynivka and Poltavka.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that russian forces shelled an agricultural facility in Zaporizhzhia region, damaging a building and 2 trucks.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 16 June, the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 2 russian attacks in Orikhiv region and 4 in Huliaipole region. Clashes occurred near Nesterianka and Malynivka.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 16 June, russian forces conducted 543 strikes on 14 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. These included 4 missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia and 11 airstrikes targeting Stepnohirsk, Kamianske, Stepove, Prymorske, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Olhivske, Malynivka and Poltavka. The remaining attacks involved MLRS, artillery and UAVs.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to Mykolaiv RMA, at 5:30am on 17 June, russian forces conducted an artillery strike on Kutsurub community. There were no casualties reported.

During the night of 17 June, Ukrainian air defence forces in Mykolaiv oblast shot down 6 Shahed drones.

Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv RMA, said that as a result of defence operations and falling debris, dry grass caught fire in Pervomaisk region. The fire was extinguished.

Odesa oblast

Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa RMA, informed that in the morning, russia launched a massive drone attack on Odesa. The bodies of a 60-year-old woman and a woman born in 1947 were found under the rubble. 17 people were injured in the attack, including a pregnant woman and a 17-year-old girl. 1 person was hospitalised, while the others continue outpatient treatment after receiving medical assistance. Residential buildings, an inclusive education centre, a preschool, a higher education institution and the Nativity of Christ Cathedral were among the damaged sites.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, reported that a 52-year-old man was killed in Beryslav when russian forces dropped an explosive from a drone.

Referring to the RMA, in Novooleksandrivka, 2 men aged 40 and 66 were injured by a russian UAV strike. They are currently under medical supervision.

At around 3pm, 2 69-year-old men were wounded in a drone strike in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson and were hospitalised.

As reported by the CMA, at approximately 2:30pm, russian forces used a drone to attack a car in Kherson, wounding a 21-year-old man.

At around 1pm, Korabelnyi district of Kherson came under russian shelling. A 53-year-old man sustained minor injuries.

According to the RMA, in Novokairy, a 61-year-old man was killed in his home by a russian shell.

In Bilozirka, a 69-year-old man sustained blast trauma, a concussion and shrapnel wounds to the face and shoulder after an explosive was dropped from a drone. He was hospitalised.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that in the morning, russian artillery struck Novokairy again, killing a 61-year-old man who was at home.

As reported by the RMA, in Dniprovskyi district ofKherson, a russian UAV dropped an explosive on a civilian car. 2 individuals sustained blast injuries and are now hospitalised.

Early in the morning, a drone attack on Dniprovskyi district of Kherson injured 20 people. A 54-year-old woman suffered blast trauma and a concussion. A 63-year-old man sustained blast trauma, a concussion and shrapnel wounds to the shoulder. A 51-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man suffered blast trauma and shrapnel wounds. A 58-year-old man was hospitalised, while 2 women aged 50 and 62 are being treated on an outpatient basis.

The CMA informed that overnight, russian forces shelled an educational institution in Korabelnyi district of Kherson. The roof and wall were damaged and 20 windows shattered.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that during the day, russian forces attacked 29 settlements in Kherson oblast. A high-rise building, 22 private houses, agricultural equipment and vehicles were damaged. 4 people were wounded.

The RMA reported that in Bilozirka, 2 people – a 64-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman – were injured in a russian strike. Both sustained mine-blast injuries and concussions.

The RMA reported that in Rivne oblast, 112 veterans were employed through the employment service this year; 40 received vocational training; 46 used vouchers; 373 received career guidance services.

The 88th Separate Marine Battalion received 5 MAVIC 3T quadcopters from Ternopil community.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A confectionery course for women from military families has started in Khmelnytskyi. The program includes theoretical and powerful practical parts, working with modern equipment, preparing dough, fillings, creating cakes and trifles. And most importantly, it provides internships at real enterprises, which can be the first step towards employment.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that starting in 2022, expenditures from the regional budget alone for the needs of military units will already amount to over UAH 206m.
