Sumy oblast
The State Border Guard Service reported that operators of UAVs from Sumy Border Guard Detachment destroyed a russian vehicle, as well as communication equipment and shelters used by russian troops. The enemy also sustained personnel losses.
The regional prosecutor’s office informed that at around 3:30pm on 16 March, a russian “Molniia” UAV struck the railway station in Vorozhba town in Sumy region. The drone hit the roof of the railway station building. There were no casualties or injuries.
At around 11:40am on 16 March, russian forces struck a vehicle in Sadivska community by a drone. As a result of the attack, a 40-year-old truck driver was killed. According to Oleh Hryhorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, the man had arrived to load grain when russian forces deliberately targeted the truck cabin with a drone, where the driver was located.

The Regional Prosecutor’s office reported that in Velyka Pysarivka community, at around 11:10am, russian forces attacked a motorcycle by a drone as a local resident was riding it. The 48-year-old man was killed.
The City Military Administration informed that in Sumy, four people were injured in a UAV strike. On the morning of 16 March, a russian drone hit the road surface, damaging five vehicles, nearby houses and non-residential buildings. Traffic has been restricted. The injured sustained minor injuries, and two people were hospitalised. According to the Regional Military Administration, the drone struck Zarichnyi district of Sumy.
On 16 March, russian forces also attacked a bread production enterprise in Sumy by a drone. According to Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of the City Military Administration, employees were not injured. Production facilities were damaged. In addition, russian forces carried out an air strike on the territory of the Velyka Chernechchynai starosta region of Sumy community.
The City Military Administration reported that during the night, a strike was recorded in the private residential sector of Sumy. Windows were shattered in four houses, fences were destroyed, and a vehicle was damaged.
The Regional Military Administration informed that over the previous day, 15 March, a 51-year-old woman was injured in Velyka Pysarivka community as a result of an enemy drone strike. Another 54-year-old woman was also injured.
A 35-year-old woman sought medical assistance after being injured in a UAV strike in Shostka community on 14 March.
From the morning of 15 March to the morning of 16 March 2026, russian forces carried out 110 attacks on 36 settlements across 18 territorial communities of the region. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the region lasted 22 hours and 56 minutes over the past day.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed:
In Hlukhiv community: non-residential buildings were damaged;
In Shostka community: apartment buildings and private houses were damaged;
In Bilopillia community: non-residential premises, agricultural machinery and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
In Velyka Pysarivka community: a private residential house was destroyed;
In Sumy community: private houses, outbuildings, a vehicle and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged.
Over the past day, 21 people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities in cooperation with the State Emergency Service, the National Police and civil society organisations.
Chernihiv oblast
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that during the week from 9 to 15 March, the Ukrainian Defence Forces shot down 200 russian attack drones in the skies over Chernihiv oblast. According to him, enemy attacks have intensified in recent days. Many drones fly in transit through Chernihiv region, while others target towns and villages in the oblast.
The State Border Guard Service informed that soldiers of the 105th Border Guard Detachment named after Prince Volodymyr attacked a russian mobile fire group that had taken up positions using drones. Chernihiv border guards destroyed two russian vehicles equipped with electronic warfare systems, as well as weapons, ammunition and an artillery gun.
Pavlo Miroshnychenko, Head of Koriukivka Regional Military Administration, said that on 16 March, Snovsk community came under a massive russian attack. Snovsk town, UAV strikes damaged the regional court building, one of the enterprises, energy infrastructure facilities and residential buildings.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Administration, reported that at around 10am on 16 March, russian forces attacked the central square of Semenivka town. Information about possible casualties is being clarified.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the RMA, informed that during the night and morning of 16 March, russian forces attacked three communities in Chernihiv oblast by “Heran” drones. UAVs struck enterprises in Menska community of Koriukivka region and in Ichnia community in Pryluky region. In a village of Kulykivka community, a house caught fire following a Heran drone strike.
Oleksandr Seliverstov said that during the night of 16 March, russian forces also attacked Kuty Druhi village in Semenivka community by two “Herbera” strike UAVs. The strike caused a large-scale fire at a warehouse, which completely destroyed the storage building and property inside.
According to the State Emergency Service of Chernihiv Oblast over the course of 15 March, russian UAV strikes caused fires in Koriukivka, Novhorod-Siverskyi and Pryluky regions. As a result of the shelling, a cornfield covering about seven hectares, warehouse facilities covering about 200 square metres, and several buildings of different purposes caught fire.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment reported that over the past day on 15 March, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Semenivka, Snovsk and Horodnia. The enemy carried out FPV drone strikes (20 explosions) and also dropped explosive devices from UAVs (3 explosions). Eight settlements came under enemy fire.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, informed that during the 15 March attack on a checkpoint at the exit from Chernihiv, russian forces used Lancet UAVs. Four explosions were recorded. As a result of the attack, one serviceman was killed and five were wounded, while two police officers were also injured.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Nikopol region. The russian forces continued attacking the region by drones, MLRS and artillery, targeting Nikopol, Marhanets community and Pokrovske rural community. In Nikopol, a private house was damaged and a 71-year-old woman was injured.
Synelnykove region. The enemy attacked Dubovykivka community by an FPV drone. A 42-year-old man was injured and a vehicle transporting bakery products was damaged. Also, UAVs struck Vasylkivka and Petropavlivka communities. Fires broke out and an enterprise, 2 houses and 2 outbuildings were damaged. A KAB strike targeted Pokrovske community, damaging a private house.
In Slovianka community, electricity is unavailable in 9 settlements: Myronove, Poltavske, Mala Pokrovka, Zelene, Maliieve, Krutoiarivka, Natalivka, Andronivka and Slovianka. Specialists continue working to restore power, but repairs are complicated due to the security situation.
Pavlohrad region. According to updated information, an 87-year-old woman was killed in Troitske community as a result of yesterday’s attacks.
Nikopol region. The russian forces attacked the region by drones and artillery, targeting the regional centre, Marhanets, Myrove, Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities. Fires broke out. A school, a summer kitchen, an agricultural enterprise, a gas station and infrastructure were damaged.
Synelnykove region. The occupiers struck Mezhova community by an FPV drone and KABs. A private house caught fire and a fire station was damaged. KAB strikes targeted Pokrovske community. 1 house burned down, 1 destroyed and 8 damaged. As a result of an attack in Zaitseve community, 2 people were killed and 8 injured, including children: a 17-year-old boy and 2 girls aged 8 and 17. 15 houses were destroyed and 25 damaged. A school was affected.
Kryvyi Rih region. In Zelenodolsk community, a private house caught fire following a UAV strike.
Vinnytsia oblast
2 soldiers from Vinnytsia oblast were posthumously awarded the Order Hero’s Cross. Junior Sergeant Hennadii Redko and soldier Oleksandr Khomitskyi were killed while carrying out combat missions in Donetsk oblast. Their families received the state awards in Vinnytsia.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, on Teatralna (Theater) Square near Marko Kropyvnytskyi Regional Theater, residents commemorated those who killed on 16 March 2022, during the russian airstrike on Mariupol Drama Theater. Participants lit candles and arranged the word Children in russian — the same inscription that had been written in front of the theater building on the day of the attack.
Poltava oblast
In Kremenchuk, a memorial ceremony will be held for soldier Oleksandr Zanizdra, who was killed while serving in Kharkiv oblast. He died as a result of a russian missile strike on 28 February near Chuhuiev.
Several servicemen from Poltava oblast were reported killed.
Yevhenii Syniak, a soldier from Hlobyno community, was killed on 10 March 2026, while carrying out a combat mission near Dmytrivka settlement in Donetsk oblast as a result of a russian strike by a Molniia/Lancet-type kamikaze drone.
Oleksandr Skydan, a sergeant from Kremenchuk, was killed on 14 December 2023, while performing a combat mission near Ivanivske settlement in Donetsk oblast.
Maksym Nahornyi, a private from Myrhorod community, was killed on 10 December 2024, while carrying out combat missions in Kursk axis.
A peaceful memorial event marking the anniversary of Mariupol Drama Theater airstrike was held in Poltava. Around 30 people gathered in the square in front of the regional theater, including internally displaced persons from Mariupol. Participants arranged the word CHILDREN on the square and placed candles, flowers and children’s toys to honor those who was killed in the theater ruins 4 years ago.
Cherkasy oblast
Mykola Tsyluiko was killed on 9 March 2026, as a result of an FPV drone strike on a Ukrainian unit’s position near Kupiansk in Kharkiv oblast. His injuries were incompatible with life.
In Smila, residents paid tribute to serviceman Oleksii Zhezher, who was 47 years old. Over the past 2 years he carried out combat missions in Donetsk oblast, where he sustained severe injuries on 4 March 2026. His heart stopped on 8 March.
In Cherkasy, on March 16, candles were arranged on Teatralna (Theater) Square forming the word CHILDREN. The action commemorated the victims of the airstrike on Mariupol Drama Theater. On 16 March 2022, russian occupying forces dropped a powerful bomb on the theater building in Mariupol, where hundreds of people had taken shelter.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that during the night of 15-16 March the enemy struck residential neighborhoods in central Zaporizhzhia with drones. During the day russians again attacked the private sector in another district of the city. One person was killed and six were injured. As a result of the night attack, 16 houses were damaged — one suffered significant destruction and fifteen received minor damage. Among them were two apartment buildings and thirteen private houses.
According to Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, yesterday, 15 March, the occupiers carried out 710 strikes on 34 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 18 airstrikes on Malokaterynivka, Veselianka, Barvynivka, Novoselivka, Liubytske, Orikhiv, Myrne, Huliaipilske, Vozdvyzhivka, Charivne, Kopani, and Verkhnia Tersa. 401 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV drones) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Rozumivka, Lysohirka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Lukianivske, Pavlivka, Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Zelene, Dobropillia, Pryluky, Shcherbaky, Charivne, Varvarivka, Myrne, Tsvitkove, and Hirke. Five MLRS strikes targeted Zaliznychne, Varvarivka, and Novodanylivka. 286 artillery strikes hit Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Lukianivske, Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Dobropillia, Varvarivka, Charivne, Zelene, and Pryluky. Eighty-eight reports were received about damage to homes, infrastructure facilities, and vehicles.
According to the General Staff, as of 16:00 on 16 March, nine attacks took place in the areas of Zaliznychne, Myrne, Zelene, and Charivne towards Huliaipole. One combat engagement is ongoing. Over the past day, 15 March, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled 21 russian attacks towards Huliaipole and Orikhiv.
The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Middle-strike units struck a maintenance base and a logistics warehouse with equipment, weapons, and military vehicles in Andriivka, as well as a logistics center in Berestove in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that during the night of 16 March the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck a TOR surface-to-air missile system near Balashivka in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast. The Defense Forces also struck a command and observation post near Bahate in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Today, 16 March, an installation with the word “CHILDREN” was set up in Zaporizhzhia to honor the victims of the russian airstrike on the Mariupol Drama Theater on the fourth anniversary of the tragedy. About 600 people, including children, were killed in that attack. The installation was placed in the theater park of Zaporizhzhia opposite the Magara Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater.

Mykolaiv oblast
Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday, 15 March, the enemy attacked the region with Shahed-131/136 UAVs. As a result of the nighttime attack on Mykolaiv, windows in an educational institution and a multi-story building were damaged. There were no casualties. Over the past day, six Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs and various types of decoy drones were shot down or suppressed over Mykolaiv oblast.
Yesterday during the day and at night, the enemy attacked Ochakiv community seven times with FPV drones. There were no casualties.
Ukrzaliznytsia reported that the operation of a number of suburban trains in Mykolaiv oblast will be temporarily suspended from 17 to 20 March. This is related to the security situation in the region.
Odesa oblast
Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that on the night of 16 March, the enemy once again carried out a massive attack on Odesa oblast with strike drones. In the city of Chornomorsk, the attack damaged the facade and windows of a kindergarten, as well as nearby apartment buildings.
Kherson oblast
According to the head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, on 16 March at noon russian forces attacked a civilian car with a drone in Korabelnyi district of Kherson. As a result of the enemy attack, a 38-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries. According to the Kherson RMA, a 64-year-old resident of Kherson also suffered a blast injury, concussion, and facial bruises as a result of the russian attack.
Kherson Regional Military Administration also reported on victims of russian attacks from previous days who sought medical assistance on 16 March. A 75-year-old woman from Kherson, who came under russian shelling in the central part of the city at around 21:00 the previous day, sustained a blast injury, concussion, and brain concussion. Two residents of Bilozerka who were injured during russian shelling the previous morning sustained concussions, blast injuries, and closed traumatic brain injuries. A resident of Komyshany who was injured during a russian UAV attack on 14 March sustained a blast injury and concussion. A 75-year-old resident of Bilozerka, who was attacked by a russian drone on the morning of 14 March, was diagnosed with a blast injury, concussion, and an acute stress reaction. An elderly woman who had been attacked by a russian UAV inDniprovskyi district of Kherson on the afternoon of 7 March was taken to hospital. The 79-year-old Kherson resident was diagnosed with a blast injury, concussion, and shrapnel wounds to the face. A 14-year-old boy who was injured during russian shelling of Korabelnyi district of Kherson on the night of 13 March was diagnosed with a blast injury and an acute stress reaction.
According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, yesterday, 15 March, therussian forces attacked Antonivka, Sadove, Molodizhne, Prydniprovske, Naddniprianske, Bilozerka, Kizomys, Blahovishchenske, Dniprovske, Romashkove, Yantarne, Veletynske, Rozlyv, Novodmytrivka, Tomyna Balka, Mykilske, Ivanivka, Tokarivka, Beryslav, Tarasa Shevchenka, Borozenke, Nova Kamianka, Chervone, Khreshchenivka, Kostyrka, Novoraisk, Kostromka, Tryfonivka, Osokorivka, Velyka Oleksandrivka, Biliaivka, Zolota Balka, Lvove, Mykolaivka, Mylove, Monastyrske, Respublikaneць, Vesele, Kozatske, and the city of Kherson. A multi-story building, 12 private houses, a shop, a gas pipeline, a warehouse, utility buildings, agricultural machinery, a shuttle taxi, and private vehicles were damaged. Five people were injured as a result of russian aggression.
The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported that over the past week the Defense Forces managed to suppress more than 94% of russian drones. This amounts to nearly 2,800 enemy UAVs that did not reach their targets — civilians and social and critical infrastructure.

A serviceman of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Zakarpattia Brigade won 2nd place in the competition for the best instructor of the 17th Army Corps, demonstrating a high level of professional training, endurance, and skill. During the competition, the participants underwent a series of difficult tests. They took tests on theoretical knowledge, demonstrated physical endurance, fire and tactical training skills. In addition, the contestants practiced elements of tactical medicine and performed complex practical tasks.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Mobile pharmacies have started operating in the Carpathian region. This is an important initiative for residents of remote settlements and rural areas where there are no stationary pharmacies. Its goal is to ensure continuous and timely access to necessary medicines and medical supplies.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
