War in Ukraine today: latest news, 15 March, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 751st day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On 15 March, there were 68 combat clashes.

The enemy launched a total of 8 missile and 57 air strikes, carried out 46 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties. Residential private and apartment buildings, as well as other infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

On 15 March, russia launched several missile strikes on Odesa, cynically launching a repeated strike on rescuers of the State Emergency Service who had already begun to respond to the aftermath of the first strike and provide medical aid to the victims. As a result of this terrorist attack, according to preliminary updates, at least 19 people were killed and 70 others wounded.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were noticed.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The adversary launched air strikes in the vicinities of Pysarivka, Popivka, Vilne, Lukashivka, Dmytrivka (Sumy oblast), Baranivka, and Pokaliane (Kharkiv oblast). Around 30 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Klyusy, Hremiach (Chernihiv oblast), Sorokyne, Khodyne, Volfyne, Volodymyrivka, Zapsillya, Ryasne, Popivka (Sumy oblast), Udy, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Pletenivka, Budarky, Ambarne, and Stroivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 attacks in the vicinities of Synkivka and Tabaivka (Kharkiv oblast), where the occupiers made attempts to improve their tactical situation. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Petropavlivka (Kharkiv oblast) and Nadiia (Luhansk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 9 assaults in the vicinities of Terny, Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast) and Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), where the enemy, with air support, made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The adversary launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Siversk (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 20x settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Terny, Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnokamianske, and Spirne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the russian army conducted no offensives. The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasiukivka, Virolyubivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Bila Hora, and Niu York (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled more than 20 attacks in the vicinities of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast). The russian army launched airstrikes in the vicinities of Keramik, Novobakhmutivka, Semenivka, Umanske (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 15 settlements, including Ocheretyne, Novobakhmutivka, Karlivka, Netailove, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Novopavlivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the invaders, with air support, made 22 attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The enemy launched air strikes in the vicinities of Pobieda and Kostyantynivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 20 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Kurakhove, Katerynivka, Vodyane, Vuhledar, and Prechystivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy conducted 5 attacks on positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinities of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast) and Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 20 settlements, including Levadne, Poltavka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka and Mali Shcherbaky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Towards Kherson, Odesa operational-strategic group,  the enemy conducted 3 unsuccessful assaults on positions of Ukrainian defenders. Around 10 settlements, including Nikopol, (Dnipropetrovsk oblast), the city of Kherson, Beryslav, and Sadove (Kherson oblast), were under artillery and mortar fire.

On 15 March, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 7 buildups of troops, weapons and military equipment of the occupiers.


Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa Regional Military Administration, states that as a result of the russian attack on Odesa, the death toll has increased to 20 people. Up to 73 more people were injured of varying degrees of severity. 

Oleksandr Filchakov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, says that about 50 cases of russia’s use of North Korean KN-23 or Hwasong-11 missiles  have been recorded in Ukraine. Their flight range is about 700 kilometers.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The police press service and Suniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that Zolochiv was hit by the russian federation at 4:20pm and the territory of the district hospital was hit. The strike damaged buildings, a garage and set ambulances on fire.

At 2:14am, the roof of a house and a garage were burning as a result of a Shahed UAV shelling in Kozacha Lopan village, Kharkiv region. There were no casualties.

Yesterday about 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were under enemy artillery and mortar attacks: Veterynarne, Borysivka, Ambarne, Strilecha, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Berestove and others. The enemy launched airstrikes on Lyptsi, Borshchova and Vilcha.

At 9:25pm, a shell hit the territory in Konstiantynivka village, Chuhuiv region. There were no casualties.

At 8:20pm, a house and outbuildings were damaged as a result of the shelling in Vovchansk. There were no casualties.

At 6:27pm, a 43-year-old man tripped over an unknown explosive device (preliminary a Butterfly mine) in his garden in Kupiansk. He died on the way to the hospital.

At 5:16pm, an abandoned building was burning as a result of shelling in Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region. There was no information about the casualties.

At 2:41pm, Korotych village, Kharkiv region, was targeted. The enemy attacked one of the institutions. The garage boxes and two vehicles were damaged. There were no casualties.

At 12:45pm, the enemy shelled Slobozhanske village, Kharkiv region, as a result of which a private house was destroyed. A 50-year-old woman was injured.

At 11:30am, structural elements of a destroyed outbuilding were on fire as a result of a shelling in Lozova. There were no casualties.

Yesterday the enemy did not conduct any offensive towards Kupiansk.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 30.79 hectares of territory and destroyed 239 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.

During the day, 14 children with their families were evacuated. As of today, 103 children have been evacuated from two communities: 33 from Vilkhuvata and 70 from Velykyi Burluk.

63 de-occupied settlements of the oblast remain without electricity supply, while 399 have been restored. Gas supply has been restored in 138 de-occupied settlements and water supply in 107. In Kharkiv oblast, sappers destroyed 166,223 explosive devices, surveying 9,58 thousand hectares. Among the most dangerous communities due to mining are Vovchansk, Vilkhuvatka, Petropavlivka and Borove, which are close to the border. 98 projects for the restoration of buildings were developed at the expense of the Fund for Elimination of the Aftermath of Armed Aggression in 2023. 109 residents of Kharkiv oblast purchased new accommodation under the YeVidnovlennia programme for more than UAH 184m.

Dmytro Chubenko, Spokesman of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, informed that in the first half of March, Kharkiv oblast was most often attacked with S-300 and Shahed missiles. During the first two weeks of spring, russians attacked Kharkiv once every few days and the oblast every day, most often towards Kupiansk and Vovchansk.

Donetsk oblast

The press service of Donetsk police reported that they documented the aftermath of 13 russian attacks on civilians. A total of 1381 attacks were recorded in the oblast. On 14 March, 11 settlements were under attack: Hirnyk, Toretsk cities, Zhelanne, Niu-York, Ocheretyne settlements, Voskhod, Kalynove, Novoselivka Persha, Sokil, Stavky and Ptyche villages.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, towards Pokrovsk, a house was damaged in Krasnohorivka of Marinka community. In Kurakhove community, the outskirts of Hirnyk were shelled. In the middle of the night, russians launched 6 rockets at Myrnohrad, damaging 2 administrative buildings, 9 apartment buildings and 3 infrastructure facilities.

Towards Kramatorsk, the outskirts of Kostiantynivka and Lyman communities were under hostile attack.

Towards Bakhmut, 3 houses and an infrastructure facility were damaged in Niu-York. 10 private houses were damaged in Chasiv Yar community.

In total, russians shelled settlements in Donetsk oblast 19 times. 764 people, including 124 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the enemy focused all its efforts towards Lyman yesterday, there were no offensive actions in Kupiansk region. Bilohorivka was under russian pressure. With the support of the air force, the invaders tried to break through the defences of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They also shelled the village with artillery. The enemy had no success there.

Residents of frontline villages in Luhansk oblast were provided with construction kits. Materials and tools provided by Krasnorichensk Military Administration were distributed to residents of the frontline Makiivka and Hrekivka. A weekly supply of fresh bread was also delivered.

Police recorded the destruction of four more houses in Nevske. These are households that have been heavily shelled by russians since the beginning of the year.

The so-called “election commission of lpr” has identified polling stations for voters who are not registered at their place of residence. This list has not been made public but can only be found by calling the hotline.

In Rubizhne, elderly people have to queue in the evening to get a voucher and see a pension fund specialist. The queue is not getting shorter and the number of specialists, who accept appointments, is not increasing.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to Serhii Popko, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration, on 15 March, the enemy carried out another air attack on the capital of Ukraine. This time, the weapon of the attack was Shahed attack UAVs, which were launched from Kursk region, russia. Enemy drones entered Kyiv from the north. The air-raid siren in the capital lasted almost an hour. By the forces and means of air defense, all the enemy’s Shahed UAVs heading for Kyiv – about a dozen and a half – were hit on the outskirts of the city! According to preliminary data of the operational report, there were no casualties or destruction in the capital. 

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reports that at night, the enemy attacked the region with drones. The air-raid siren lasted almost 2 hours. Air defense was on alert in the region. There were no hits on residential and critical infrastructure facilities. There were no casualties. As a result of the fall of debris in one of the areas in an open area, the grass flooring caught fire. The fire has been extinguished.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the government has officially determined the location for the National Military Memorial Cemetery. These are two plots in Hatne community of Fastiv region. Previously, they wanted to locate the cemetery on the territory of the Bykivnia forest. 

In Kyiv, the procedure for installing memorial plaques for fallen Defenders will be simplified. First, you need to collect and submit a smaller package of documents. Secondly, the issue will be considered and agreed upon at the level of the regional state administration.

Two large-scale charity events aimed at helping defenders were held at Grinchenko University. The event was held within the framework of the project “Grinchenko University for Guardian Angels – Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”. The project aimed to raise funds for individual military brigades. In total, for these two charitable projects, caring Kyiv residents and the university community were able to raise UAH 210,000 for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy informs that in Kyiv, the Ukrainian Radio Recording House hosted a preview of the film “Art” – one of the episodes of the documentary project “The Great Russian Lie”, commissioned by Suspilne Culture. 

Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of Economy and Innovation of the Republic of Lithuania, Inga Černyak, Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and Valdemaras Sarapinas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania  visited Borodianka Lyceum. They were presented with the results of the reconstruction, which their state helped to finance. The work here has just ended. Before the war, more than 500 children studied here.

Zhytomyr oblast

A meeting was held between the leadership of the RMA and representatives of the All-Ukrainian public organization Association of Mothers and Wives of Defenders of Ukraine. The participants of the event discussed problematic issues related to the publication of programs on the types of assistance to the families of the victims, the procedure for obtaining one-time state aid in connection with the death of a serviceman, the possibility of purchasing housing, the quality of services provided by funeral services, the procedure for obtaining decisions from military medical commissions, as well as the payment of one-time financial assistance from the regional budget in connection with the death.

The State Border Guard Service reports that on the Day of the Ukrainian Volunteer, the President awarded orders to the soldiers of Zhytomyr border detachment.

Viktor Hradivskyi, Deputy Head of Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, says that on 15 March, the regional medical center of vertebrology and rehabilitation received books collected as part of the Book for a Defender charity event. In total, more than 160 books were collected. Books will help our defenders undergo better and easier rehabilitation. This is not the first such charity event in Zhytomyr oblast, which takes place within the framework of the All-Ukrainian mental health program “How are you?”.

In Korosten, students of Lyceum 4 assembled an FPV drone under the supervision of computer science teachers and teachers of the robotics club. The drone, which can fly about 12 kilometers at a speed of 80 km/h and at the same time can carry a load of 1 kg, in addition to its weight, is planned to be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Department of Youth, Sports, Culture and Tourism of Ruzhyn Village Council informs that the Open Mini-Football Championship of Zhytomyr oblast among veteran teams has ended. Recently, its final round took place, where the fate of prizes and winners was decided.

Sumy oblast

At night and in the morning, the russians carried out 15 attacks on the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. There were 86 explosions. Velyka Pysarivka, Seredyna-Buda and Nova Sloboda communities were shelled.

On 14 March, russians carried out 77 attacks on the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. There were 450 explosions. Mykolaiv, Myropillia, Yunakivka, Khotyn, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhine, Esman, Seredyna-Buda, and Znob-Novhorodske communities were shelled.

Search operations are underway in Sumy – more than fifty rescuers are working at the site of the russian Shahed hitting a five-story building. The body of the girl, who was probably in an apartment on the fifth floor at the time of the explosion, was not found as of 6:30pm on 15 March.

Yurii Zarko, Head of the Bilopillia community, says that as of 2:00pm, the situation in the border town of Ryzhivka of Bilopillia community is consistently difficult, the village is constantly under fire. It is currently impossible to get to Ryzhivka, as active hostilities continue there.

In Sumy oblast, the evacuation of people from the border areas continues. Over the past 3 days, more than 180 residents have left Velyka Pysarivka community of Okhtyrka region, where the security situation is currently the most aggravated. As a result of the shelling of Velyka Pysarivka community during five days (11.03-15.03), 3 people were killed and 13 were injured, including 5 children. So far, 4523 people, including 829 children, have already been evacuated from dangerous areas in Sumy oblast. To date, all residents of 22 settlements located on the territory of 3 districts of 6 territorial communities that were subject to evacuation have left.

Oleh Strilka, spokesman for the State Emergency Service,  says that rescuers restored more than 200 windows in Trostyanets City Hospital. The facility was damaged by a blast wave during an airstrike on the night of 14 March.

A volunteer from Norway brought a car for soldiers and an ultrasound machine for Sumy Perinatal Center. This is the third vehicle for the soldiers that Roman brought. 

Chernihiv oblast

Halyna Shekhovtsova, Spokeswoman of Chernihiv border detachment, informs that on 14 March, russian troops shelled 8 border villages in Chernihiv region. 

The Department of Civil Protection and Defense Work of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration reports that during a missile attack by russian troops in Chernihiv oblast, a farm building was damaged and a local resident injured. 

Oleksandr Yasenchuk, director of Honcharenko Center in Chernihiv, says that one and a half tons of russian-language books have been collected there since mid-February. According to him, the collected books are handed over for waste paper, and the proceeds are donated to purchase drones for the Ukrainian military.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that the occupiers attacked Nikopol with artillery. A multi-storey building and an administrative building at the enterprise were damaged. The occupiers continue to terrorize Nikopol. In the afternoon they launched 3 kamikaze drones at the city and shelled with artillery. A utility company, 3 private houses, cars and fences were damaged.

Bohdan, a 19-year-old wounded soldier from Myrnohrad, Donetsk oblast, is being treated in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. On March 12, he was at the epicenter of a russian attack when a missile hit a high-rise building. The man spent 3 hours under the rubble.

Vinnytsia oblast

According to Vinnytsia RMA, at night an enemy UAV hit a residential building. Two people were killed.

Kirovohrad oblast

The South Operational Command informed that at night one drone was destroyed in Kirovohrad oblast.

A mobile power plant from Latvia was brought to Haivoron city, Kirovohrad oblast. This is a locomotive for a narrow-gauge railroad. The idea belongs to a Latvian enthusiast who came to Ukraine in early 2023 after a blackout in Ukraine.

Poltava oblast

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the russian army attacked Poltava oblast with an X-59 guided missile. 

Cherkasy oblast

In Cherkasy, the military and volunteers were presented with a number of awards: diplomas of the Verkhovna Rada and the regional council, the Valor of Cherkasy Region award, National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine medals, and honorary badges. The victims’ relatives were also presented with posthumous awards of their relatives.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

In the morning, russian forces shelled the village of Dolynka in Polohy region. Fragments of a russian shell injured a civilian woman who was in the yard of her own house. The woman died on the spot.

On 14 March, the enemy launched 274 strikes on 8 settlements of Zaporizhzhia oblast. An airstrike was launched against the village of Malynivka. There were 3 MLRS attacks on Novodarivka and Temyrivka. The invaders also attacked Novodanylivka, Huliaipole, Novodarivka, Malynivka, Robotyne, and Mala Tokmachka with 63 drones. Huliaipole, Robotyne, Novodarivka, Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Temyrivka and Omelnyk were shelled with artillery 207 times. There were 18 reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure objects.

The General Staff reported that the enemy attacked the positions of UKrainian defenders 7 times in the vicinity of Staromaiske in Donetsk oblast, Robotyne, and west of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Schools in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk will be closed for quarantine starting from 18 March due to the increase in the number of type A flu cases. According to Viktoriia Halitsyna, Head of Berdiansk City Military Administration, distance learning is associated with the increase in children’s illness due to the new wave of type A flu caused by a failed vaccination campaign by occupation authorities.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reports that during the night of 15 March, russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones. One UAV of the Shahed 131/136 was destroyed by air defense forces in Mykolaiv oblast. Additionally, on March 14 at 10:50, the waters of the Ochakiv community were shelled with mortars. There have been no reports of casualties. 

17 people, including 4 fatalities, have been injured by mines in Mykolaiv oblast since the beginning of 2024. 17 people, including one child, were killed in Mykolaiv oblast in 2023 due to detonation of explosive ordnance. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, there were a total of 57 incidents of civilian casualties from mine explosions last year. The main causes of injuries were lack of awareness and curiosity.

Oksana Zholnovych, Minister of Social Policy, informs that social workers in 183 communities across 11 regions of Ukraine will receive electric scooters. 200 electric scooters have already been dispatched to Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv oblasts. This became possible thanks to funding from the Government of Japan and the support of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine.

Odesa oblast

Oleh Kiper, the head of Odesa RMA, informs that on the morning of 15 March, the russians shelled Odesa with two ballistic missiles Iskander-M launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea. As of 19:20, there are reports of 20 fatalities and 73 injured. Among the deceased are residents, a paramedic, and a State Emergency Service employee who arrived to provide assistance after the initial explosion, former vice-mayor Serhii Tetiukhin and Oleksandr Hostishchev, the commander of the Tsunami battalion, former head of the regional patrol police. The direct hit destroyed a three-story building, over 10 residences, and damaged ambulances and firefighting vehicles. The debris is currently being cleared. 

The gas and electricity supply engineering communications in Odesa were damaged as a result of the missile strike. An official statement indicates that 535 consumers are currently without electricity and 800 are without gas. It is expected to restore power supply by the end of tomorrow. Emergency services are working on-site.

Yurii Vaskov, deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure, says that ships will be able to travel through the maritime corridor to and from the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi around the clock. This permission was granted by the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The ability for vessels to pass through during nighttime hours will increase Ukraine’s maritime exports by at least 20%. 

Kherson oblast

Roman Mrochko, Head of the city’s military administration, reports that on the morning of  15 March 2024, russian forces once again shelled the downtown of Kherson. One person was injured as a result of the attack. 

On 14 March, the enemy shelled Mykhailivka, Novoberyslav, Dudchany, Chervonyi Maiak, Beryslav, Virivka, Kizomys, Novotiahynka, Tokarivka, Romashkove, Antonivka, Poniativka, and the city of Kherson. russian forces targeted residential quarters in these settlements, damaging 6 multi-story buildings and 5 private houses. Museums, shops, and catering establishments were also hit. Additionally, a garage belonging to a transportation company, buses, utility vehicles, and cars were damaged. The air defense forces managed to destroy 1 Shahed-131/136 drone in Kherson oblast.

Beryslav resident was injured due to yesterday’s shelling. The previous night, russian troops shelled the city with a tank, injuring an 84-year-old man in the yard. He sought medical help for explosive injuries, back, and leg wounds.

Counter-battery fighting continues in the operational zone of the Southern Defence Forces. On 14 March, the enemy attempted 1 unsuccessful assault without armoured support trying to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Suffering losses, the russians retreated to their original positions. The occupiers continue aerial reconnaissance, artillery shelling, and use various modifications of strike drones.

AFU continues destroying enemy positions and rear areas.  On 14 March, the enemy lost 35 occupiers, 1 cannon, 2 mortars, 1 Murom-M video surveillance complex, 1 video surveillance camera, 5 units of automotive equipment, 1 radio-electronic warfare station, and 1 boat on the left bank. Another supply buildup was destroyed.

The Yellow Ribbon resistance movement  informed that russian occupiers forcibly coerced people to participate in “voting” in the so called  “elections of the president of the russian federation” in the temporarily occupied Henichesk. Activists reported that russian military personnel are going door-to-door, abducting people and forcing them to “vote” at “polling stations.”

Residents of Beryslav community received drinking water. There is a problem with water supply in the community due to constant shelling and the drying up of wells caused by the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP. Volunteers from the Stabilization Support Services charity foundation delivered a shipment of drinking water. The bottles were immediately distributed among residents.

Antique wells were arranged in Novovorontsovka, and now they are suitable for water collection. In total, more than UAH 1.2m was spent to finance this project. Currently,  local utility services improve the area around the wells.

Volunteers delivered a hundred building kits to Tiahynka community. They were distributed among residents whose homes were damaged by enemy shelling. Thanks to this assistance, people will be able to carry out urgent repair work. The kits contain everything needed for this – OSB sheets, boards, rolls of film, nails, and more.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Houses were built in Kovel for families resettled from territories of hostilities thanks to the EU Support for the Urgent Needs of Accommodation of IDPs in Ukraine NEFCO Program, financed by the Neighborhood Investment Platform of the European Union.

Lutsk City Council sent 2 DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise quadcopters, 2 DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise (Thermal) quadcopters, 3 ATN MARS LT 320 2-4x thermal imaging sights, 2 Starlink satellite modems, 2 Bandera searchlights and 2 powerful YX-B015 laser pointers with nozzles to the A4100 military unit thanks to the budget funds.

Zakarpattia oblast

UAH 23,632m  were transferred for the purchase of drones this year from the budget of Uzhhorod City Community. Funds were received by 7 military units that applied to the city council with relevant requests. This amount is as of 1 March 2024.

Training for trainers-rehabilitators has started in Svaliava. The training will last 4 days at the Service Center of the PROTEZ FOUNDATION American CF. After completing the course, participating medics will train new specialists of multidisciplinary teams in the oblasts. The best specialists in the field of prosthetics and rehabilitation in France share their knowledge and experience with them.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA sent 2 diesel generators, 2 monitors and brackets for them, 2 portable computers, an Ecoflow portable charging station, 15 Motorola radio stations and a repeater, 10 Motorola batteries, 20 car antennas and various equipment worth UAH 1,219m thanks to the funds of the regional budget as part of targeted programs to support military formations.

Lviv oblast

Exactly one year ago, the Western Regional Center of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War became operational in Lviv oblast. During this time, the centre’s employees processed over 3,000 appeals from native soldiers who are in captivity or missing. Conducted more than 1,300 face-to-face and over 50 field meetings, where over 5,000 people came to get answers to their questions.

Almost UAH 2m was raised at a charity auction in Truskavets thanks to the Birds of Victory project. All collected funds will be donated to purchase quadcopters for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As part of the Hand Over Hostile Literature – Send a Drone to the Front rally, students of Truskavets community collected 12,000kg of waste paper. It was possible to raise UAH 50,000. With these funds, 5 FPV drones will soon be delivered to frontline defenders.

Bryukhovychy began to create a memorial square for volunteer soldiers. The 1st trees have already been planted there and an information table installed.

A memorial plaque was installed on the facade of Terliv gymnasium of Khiriv City Council, Sambir region, in memory of the fallen soldier Oleksandr Poliukhovich. The soldier served in the ranks of the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He was killed on 11 September 2022.

Rivne oblast

Critically important status was confirmed for 15 medical facilities in Rivne oblast. They will continue to reserve up to 50% of conscripted workers. This decision was made during a meeting of the working group in Rivne RMA.

In Rivne, a memorial plaque was installed on the facade of gymnasium No.24 in memory of the fallen soldier Maksym Danichkin. The 24-year-old junior sergeant was killed on 23 August 2023 as a result of a mine-explosive injury in Luhansk region.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil RMA sent charging portable power stations, anti-aircraft searchlights, routers, means of communication, modems, switches and other components, worth over UAH 5m to the anti-aircraft machine gun battalion of Ternopil oblast thanks to the funds of the regional budget.

Ternopil community sent 3 Canon laser printers, 7 Sigma mobile tablets, 1 Epson inkjet printer, 12 Lenovo laptops and 5 EcoFlow charging stations to defenders.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA reported that at night, during an air alert, the air defence forces shot down 2 Shahed drones. There were no injuries or damage.

Chernivtsi oblast

Ruslan Zaparaniuk, Head of the RMA, met with Dmytro Lubinets, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. They discussed activities of psychoneurological institutions, mobilisation processes and support for IDPs.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Sweden will allocate €30m to purchase ammunition for Ukraine at the initiative of the Czech Republic. Financing will be provided within the framework of the 15th package of the Swedish aid to Ukraine, which is currently under consideration by the parliament and will require separate approval.

Armin Papperger, General Director of the Rheinmetall German arms concern, states that the concern plans to build at least 4 factories in Ukraine. They will produce shells, military equipment, gunpowder and anti-aircraft weapons.

The Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria informed about the delivery of armoured personnel carriers to Ukraine, promised last year. In particular, on 7 March, the 1st 30 wagons with armoured personnel carriers left for Ukraine, and the last echelon, according to the minister, has already left Bulgaria. However, Todor Tagarev, Bulgarian Defense Minister, did not specify when he will arrive in Ukraine.

In fulfilment of the G7 Joint Declaration on support for Ukraine, negotiations with Latvia on the conclusion of a bilateral security agreement have begun.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Olaf Scholz, Federal Chancellor of Germany. They discussed further political, economic and defence cooperation.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Peter Sijarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary. They discussed Ukrainian-Hungarian relations and ways of their further development.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, met with Harsh Kumar Jain, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Ukraine. They discussed directions for further cooperation, in particular in issues of establishing a just peace in Ukraine.

The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will add 20 Days in Mariupol to the licensed recording of the Oscar ceremony. The presentation of the statuette for the Best Documentary Film will be edited into the international 90-minute version.
