The situation on the frontline remains tense. Ukrainian defenders continue to actively counter the russian aggressor, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment.
On 13 October, there were about 80 combat engagements.
Border settlements of Sumy oblast continued to suffer from shelling from the territory of the russian Federation. Bobylivka was hit by cannon artillery fire. The aggressor also launched air strikes near Sosnivka, Myshutyne, Hlukhiv, Obody and Bila Bereza using 13 UAVs.
The russians are bombing Kursk oblast of the russian federation. According to available information, nine strikes with twelve guided aerial bombs were carried out on its territory.
In addition, towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian soldiers repelled six enemy attacks near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Vyshneve, Kopanky and Lozova, one of which ended.
Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out ten attacks near Hrekivka, Druzheliubivka, Terny and Torske. There were five combat engagements, five more are ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the occupants made 15 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near the settlements of Sukhyi Yar, Lysivka, Promin and Selydove. The defence forces held back the onslaught and repelled 13 enemy attacks, two combat engagements are still ongoing. The enemy is concentrating its main efforts near Selydove, where 12 battles took place so far.
The situation is the most tense towards Kurakhove, where the occupants conducted 19 attacks near Kreminna Balka, Izmailivka, Novoselydivka, Kurakhivka, Hirnyk, Maksymilianivka, Kostiantynivka and Katerynivka. There were three fighting incidents in the areas of Novoselydivka and Kreminna Balka. In addition, the enemy dropped aerial bombs on Kurakhove and Illinka.
Towards Vremivka, Ukrainian troops are repelling a russian attack near Zolota Nyva. The battle is currently ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, the occupants twice tried to push our units from their positions. A firefight continues near Robotyne.
Towards Kherson, Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy attacks, and another is ongoing.
The DeepState analytical project, citing a source in the 1st Separate Tank Brigade, reported that on 10 October, russia executed 9 Ukrainian prisoners of war in Kursk oblast. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets informed that he had sent letters to the UN and the ICRC about another russian crime.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that russia used about 900 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine during the week. In addition to KABs, 40 missiles and 400 attack drones of various types were used.

Kharkiv oblast
Oleksandr Hololobov, Head of Mala Danylivka community, said that a 57-year-old man who was injured in Cherkaska Lozova on 12 October died in hospital.
Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office said that around 10am, on 13 October, a russian FPV drone hit the ground in Kupiansk, injuring a 56-year-old man who was walking nearby at the time of the strike, the At around 2:50pm, russians carried out a massive shelling of Borova village of Izium region. Houses, administrative buildings and shops were damaged. According to preliminary data, the russian army shelled the settlement with Smerch multiple rocket launchers.
Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi community, reported that the russians conducted at least two air strikes on the territory of the Derhachi community. There were no casualties.
Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that as a result of hostilities in the oblast, 311 heat supply facilities and 141 water supply facilities were damaged. Despite the daily shelling, specialists are working on the repairs.
At 5:26pm, on 12 October, Kindrashivka village of Kupiansk region was shelled. An outbuilding and a garage were burning.
At 3:57pm, Cherkaska Lozova village of Mala Danylivka community, Kharkiv region was shelled. As a result of the shelling, firewood and grass were burning in the open area. A 61-year-old woman was injured.
At 3:55pm, Cherkaska Lozova village of Mala Danylivka community was shelled. 5 private houses were damaged. A 57-year-old man was injured.
At 1:40pm, Kupiansk of Kupiansk community, Kupiansk region was shelled. A hit of an FPV drone near a car. A 77-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man were injured.
At 1pm, Novoplatonivka village of Borova community of Izium region, was shelled. A UAV hit. The glazing and roofs of four buildings were damaged.
At 11:29am, Ukrainske village of Vovchansk community, Chuhuiv region, was shelled. As a result of the shelling, grass and reeds were burning.
At 10:27am, Vasylivka village of Barvinkove community was shelled. A tractor was blown up in the field by an unknown explosive device. A 27-year-old man was injured (acute stress reaction).
Towards Kupiansk, 23 enemy ttacks took place over the last day. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults near Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Kolisnykivka, Kruhliakivka, Miasozharivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Vyshneve and Lozova.
Donetsk oblast
Most attacks took place towards Kurakhove and Pokrovsk. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled over 130 attacks in the east over the last day.
Towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian troops repelled 36 attacks towards the towns of Myroliubivka, Lysivka, Krutyi Yar, Selydove, Novotroitske, Myrnohrad and Mykhailivka.
Towards Kurakhove, the russian army attempted to advance 47 times in the areas of Izmailivka, Hirnyk, Kurakhivka, Zhelannyi Druhyi, Tsukurynove, Novodmytrivka, Novoselydivka, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Zoriane, Dale and Antonivka.
Vasyl Chynchyk, Head of the CMA, reported that about 200 russian servicemen were killed on the territory of Toretsk community. The defence forces repelled about 20 attacks per day in this area. About 110 residents remain in the town.
According to Donetsk police, russian troops fired 2,749 times at 13 settlements in Donetsk oblast over the last day. The russians fired a combined attack on Shakhtarske with an UMPD D-30SN bomb and artillery. The russian army dropped a FAB-250 bomb with an UMPC module on Ivanopillia.
Roman Padun, Head of the CMA, informed that three residents of Kurakhove community were killed by russian shelling. One person was killed in the shelling of Kurakhivka village, a man was killed in another artillery shelling in Hostre, and a person was killed by a direct hit to a house in Ostrivske.
Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of the CMA, said that in the afternoon, russian troops shelled Kramatorsk and hit the industrial area. No one was killed or wounded.
Anastasiia Miedviedieva, Spokeswoman of Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office, reported that russian troops shelled Vyshneve, Pokrovsk, Chasiv Yar and Lyman. As a result, three people were killed and three others were wounded.
The operational situation in the oblast as of the morning of 13 October:
Volnovakha region. A person died in Ulakly of Velyka Novosilka community.
Pokrovsk region. A person died in Kurakhivka, private houses were damaged in Kurakhove. A production facility was damaged in Pokrovsk, 3 people were injured in the village of Shevchenko, 3 houses and 2 administrative buildings were damaged. Two people were wounded in Myrnohrad.
Kramatorsk region. In Lyman community, 2 houses were destroyed in Zakitne, and another one in Torske. In Ivanopillia of Kostiantynivka community, 3 outbuildings were damaged.
Bakhmut region. In Siversk, 2 people were injured and a house was damaged. In Chasiv Yar community, 8 private houses and 2 multi-storey buildings were damaged.
In total, the russians fired 19 times at the settlements of Donetsk oblast yesterday. 171 people, including 26 children, were evacuated from the frontline.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of the RMA, stated that yesterday 2 civilians were killed: in Kurakhivka and Ulakly. Another 11 people were wounded in the oblast.
Luhansk oblast
Russians are using all available weapons in the area of Zhuravka Balka. Yesterday alone, they fired at least 23 times from artillery systems. They threatened our soldiers with the dropping of 49 unmanned aerial vehicles. In Lyman axis, the invaders were pressing in the area near Hrekivka and Balka Zhuravka and in Kupiansk axis, near Miasozharivka. Ukrainian troops are bravely holding back the enemy.
According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, forced passportisation of residents of the occupied Luhansk oblast continues. The situation has not changed radically in six months. As has the status of the document issued in the so-called “lpr” – it is still not recognised in russia. When travelling to the territory of the russian federation, Luhansk residents, despite having a russian passport, face additional checks.
Dozens of illegal landfills have been created in the settlements of Lutuhyne community, whose territory has been occupied since 2014. Locals have repeatedly appealed to the occupation authorities for the removal of household waste, but have been denied every time due to a lack of specialised equipment and personnel.
Artem Lysohor, Head of the RMA, reported that the enemy has become more active in Luhansk oblast. They continue to exert pressure in Bilohorivka and in the area of Zhuravka Balka. Russians opened fire about a thousand times over the past week. Approximately 700 of them were aimed at populated areas. The invaders are using aircraft, drones and artillery. Lysohir also noted that an oil depot in Rovenky was hit. This is the farthest from the line of contact and the closest to the territory of the russian federation facility where the russians could accumulate fuel.

Kyiv oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that the enemy continues to attack Kyiv oblast with UAVs. At night, three private houses were damaged in two districts as a result of the falling wreckage of downed russian drones. The alert was announced twice and lasted over 10 hours. There were no civilian casualties or hits to critical and residential infrastructure.
The regional military administration in Kyiv oblast announced that more than 27,000 schoolchildren will study the updated subject “Defence of Ukraine”. These are children from grades 10-11 of schools and vocational education institutions. The programme consists of 10 modules and is aimed at developing practical skills: first aid, drone control skills, tactical medicine, radio communications and other modern technologies that meet the realities of wartime.
On 11 October, the Made in Ukraine business forum was launched in the regional centre to introduce entrepreneurs to the Made in Ukraine state policy launched in February this year. The event has become an important platform for the exchange of experience between entrepreneurs, investors and representatives of government agencies. Discussion of the ways to support Ukrainian business during the war became the main theme of the forum.
Kyiv City Military Administration announced that an apartment building on Metropolyta Sheptytskoho Street has been granted the status of an “active consumer” of electricity. The condominium, which has installed solar generation equipment, will now be able to supply the surplus to the country’s general power grid. This is the first “residential power plant” in Ukraine.
This week, a documentary film “People of Steel” about the defenders of Mariupol, was presented in the capital. The film, directed by Serhii Fomenko, features the memories of the defenders of Mariupol and their relatives, who recount the events from February to May 2022, when Ukrainian soldiers heroically defended Mariupol under russian siege. The film also tells about the struggle of military families to free their loved ones from captivity.
On 12 and 13 October, Kyiv hosts the annual charity race Day 963: Kyiv Marathon of Unbreakable Strength 2024. This year, the marathon is being held for the fourteenth time, with more than 10,000 runners taking part. On Saturday, servicemen undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the Superhumans prosthetics centre took part in the Invincibility Marathon. On Sunday, veterans who have been seriously injured at the front and are undergoing rehabilitation at Next Step Ukraine centres will get to the start line.
Zhytomyr oblast
Vitalii Bunechko, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that preparations for the heating season are underway in Zhytomyr oblast. Work is underway to diversify the types of fuel available for boiler houses: more than 60% of the capacity is already running on wood, wood splinters and other fuels other than gas. Over the past two years, the company has done a lot of work to provide boiler houses with backup power sources.
This week, large-scale tactical and specialised training exercises chaired by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko have come to an end in Ukraine. In Zhytomyr oblast, the exercises were held under several scenarios. At designated locations, rescuers, law enforcement officers, representatives of the National Guard and government authorities practised responding to the aftermath of an enemy weapon attack on a multi-storey building, a chemical and energy facility.
Sumy oblast
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on the morning of 13 October, around 4am, russian forces carried out airstrikes using guided bombs on Hlukhiv. The attack damaged up to 20 residential houses, shattered windows and balcony facades of a five-story apartment building, as well as 10 outbuildings, 3 garages, and 2 cars. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. As a result of the strike, 72 households were left without gas, and 2,863 were cut off from electricity. Invincibility Centres have been set up in the city, and an Emergency Response Headquarters has been deployed to address the aftermath.
During night and morning, russians carried out 11 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 50 explosions. The attacks targeted Bilopillia, Myropilia, Hlukhiv, Shalyhyne communities.
During the day, russians carried out 34 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 73 explosions. The attacks targeted Sumy, Khotin, Myropilia, Richky, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Shalyhyne communities.

Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that the White Angels crew of Sumy oblast have evacuated twelve children from areas under constant shelling. Due to ongoing attacks in Krasnopillia community, more families are agreeing to leave their homes to protect their lives. Recently, police successfully evacuated six families, including a total of twelve children.
Over the past week, starting from 7 October, more than 500 people have been evacuated from the border communities of the oblast. In total, more than 36,000 people, including over 6,000 children, have been evacuated from Sumy oblast. As of 13 October, 36,804 individuals have been evacuated, of whom 6,469 are children. All residents from 34 settlements within the 5km zone and beyond the border with russia have been evacuated, as reported by regional military administration.
Chernihiv oblast
The russian army attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk communities. Six villages came under attack, with a total of 44 explosions recorded.
Novhorod-Siverskyi communities:
– 7 explosions (hits, probably by a 120mm mortar) on Hremiach;
– 4 explosions (hits, probably by barrel artillery) in the area of Hremiach:
– 2 explosions (hits, probably dropping an explosive device from an unmanned aerial vehicle) on Hremiach;
– 1 explosion (hits, probably by FPV) in the area of Hremiach.
Semenivka community:
– 2 explosions (hits, probably by barrel artillery) in the area of. Orlykivka;
– 9 explosions (hits, probably by barrel artillery) towards Karpovychi;
– 14 explosions (hits, probably by a 120mm mortar) towards Zarichchia;
– 1 explosion (hits, probably by FPV) in the area of Chornozem.
Snovsk community:
– 4 explosions (hits, probably by a 120mm mortar) towards Kliusy.
No casualties or injuries among the local population were reported as a result of the shelling.
The Department of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports reported that on 12 October, a new memorial plaque was installed on the facade of Halaibyne Gymnasium in Halaibyne village, Vysoke community, in honour of the courageous machine gunner Mykola Drozd. The plaque features a photo and information about the soldier’s life.
Bakhmach City Council informed that on 12 October, Bakhmach community paid tribute to warrior Hennadii Karpenko, who died while carrying out a combat mission on the front lines.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that yesterday evening, 12 October, and at night, the occupants attacked Nikopol regon several times. They fired at the region centre, Marhanets and Pokrovsk communities with artillery. Nikopol was also shelled with “hail” and a kamikaze drone was launched at the city. On 13 October the occupiers attacked Nikopol with kamikaze drones. They targeted cars, two cars were damaged.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, a rally was held to remind people of the prisoners of the Mariupol garrison and other military personnel held in russian captivity. It was called “Don’t be silent. Captivity Kills”.
Poltava oblast
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Air Forces was operating in Poltava oblast at night.
Kremenchuk Military History Museum at Vocational School №7 has exhibits from Kursk sector. They were handed over to the museum by the military and volunteers who were there.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, reported that at night, destroyed 12 UAVs in Cherkasy oblast. In Zolotonosha region, several households were damaged by falling debris. Windows were broken and fences damaged.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Yesterday, russian forces launched 329 strikes on 13 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. They launched 7 airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia, Mala Tokmachka and Novodarivka. 170 drones of various types targeted Bilienke, Prymorske, Lobkove, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne and Malynivka. There were 19 MLRS strikes on Novoukrainka, Huliaipole, Novodanilivka, Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka. Additionally, 133 artillery strikes were carried out on Lobkove, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Levadne. 99 reports were received regarding the destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure objects. Four people were injured due to russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia.
It is reported that russian forces twice attempted to displace Ukrainian units from their positions towards Orikhiv. The fighting continues near Robotyne.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), russian forces advanced northwest of Robotyne towards Orikhiv. Additionally, russian troops attacked AFU positions on the border of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
Specialists from the State Environmental Inspectorate examined areas damaged by the russian attack in Zaporizhzhia on the night of 12 October. They found that a green area of 600m² on Khortytsia Island, was destroyed.
Mykolaiv oblast
On 13 October, a weekly reminder rally titled “Don’t Stay Silent! Captivity Kills!” was held in Mykolaiv. The event gathered 185 participants, including family members, friends, and colleagues of prisoners of war and missing servicemen. More than three thousand soldiers from Mykolaiv oblast are currently held in russian captivity.

Odesa oblast
On the evening of 12 October, around 9pm, the russian army attacked Odesa oblast with two ballistic missiles. According to Oleh Kiper, Head of Odesa Regional Military Administration, several people sustained minor injuries.
As of 6am on 13 October, two russian ships carrying Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo capacity of up to eight missiles, were positioned in the Black Sea. There were two enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, one of which also carried Kalibr missiles with a total salvo capacity of up to four missiles. Additionally, six vessels passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea in the last 24 hours to serve russian interests.
Soldiers with amputations and injuries are mastering the Brazilian martial art of jiu-jitsu in Odesa. Jiu-jitsu is an adaptive sport, with much of the grappling occurring on the ground, making it suitable for amputee soldiers. The training sessions are held at TMS HUB ODESA, a space dedicated to warriors and veterans. Along with physical training, participants also have access to psychological support.
Kherson oblast
Today, russian forces shelled Bilozerka twice. The first attack damaged several residential buildings. Windows were shattered in 17 apartments. A garage was also destroyed, and a car inside was ruined. Two people were injured. One person, who suffered a concussion, received medical assistance on-site. Another victim, a 47-year-old man, was hospitalized with blast and head injuries, a concussion, and shrapnel wounds to his leg. Around 3pm, occupying forces shelled residential areas again. Enemy shells seriously damaged three private houses, injuring one person.
Yesterday, Beryslav, Novovorontsovka, Tiahynka, Shliakhove, Antonivka, Sadove, Inzhenerne, Prydniprovske, Zymivnyk, Lvove and the city of Kherson were under enemy fire and airstrikes. russian forces targeted critical infrastructure, a cell tower, a multi-story building, and three private houses. Three people were injured due to russian aggression.
Later, Kherson Regional Military Administration reported two more victims of yesterday’s shelling. Two residents of Beryslav, a 64-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman, sought medical help for mine-blast injuries and concussions.
There were nine enemy assaults on Kherson front yesterday. Enemy losses included 74 personnel and 25 pieces of military equipment. Five dugouts, a supply storage site, a UAV launch site, two observation posts, and a firing position were also destroyed.
Global Empowerment Mission volunteers, in partnership with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, delivered drinking water and food packages to the village of Poniativka. Family kits were distributed to residents of Bilozerka and Antonivka, where many families are struggling due to constant shelling. Aid was also delivered to Kherson Regional Children’s Hospital.

In the oblast, all preparatory work for the uninterrupted supply of heat to the homes of Volyn residents has been completed. During the summer, utility workers prepared 863 boiler rooms, 62 central heating points and 294 km of heating networks.

For high school students of Uzhhorod Lyceum №3, instructors of the ASD ALPHA SELF DEFENCE NGO held the 1st event within the framework of the All-Ukrainian action Civil Defence, aimed at increasing the readiness of young people to perform tasks related to civil defence and national security of Ukraine. Key directions of training: tactical and special training, minesweeping, tactical medicine and the basics of UAVs.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The 78th Battalion of the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade received 30 FPV drones, Mavik 3 and Mavik 3T from Ivano-Frankivsk community.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, awarded Oleksandr Butorev, military serviceman of the 82nd Separate Amphibious Assault Brigade, from Prykarpattia, with the III degree For Courage Order.
Lviv oblast
During the week, charity fairs were held in Lviv, Yavoriv and Zolochiv regions. The raised over UAH 400,000 were donated to support the military.
Andrii Pryshliak, Commander of the 3rd Parachute Platoon, from Mostysk, was awarded with the III degree Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Order (posthumously). The award was presented to the relatives of the hero. Andrii Pryshliak was killed on 18 November 2023, while performing a combat mission.
Rivne oblast
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine continues active work on improving qualifications of specialists responsible for establishing national identity. In Rivne, the One Nation: Integration and Support of the Population from Liberated Territories training program was successfully implemented for the second time. The program provided for the training of specialists who will work with the civilian population that was in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil RMA sent 2 Mavic drones and 13 FPV drones to the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade Edelveis thanks to the funds from the regional budget.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community sent 15 DJI MAVIC 3E quadcopters worth UAH 1.5m to the military. Already, almost 480 different UAVs, over 5,800 FPVs of various modifications and over 150 EW and PEP devices have been sent by the community since the beginning of the year.
The RMA reported that soldier Artem Burka and senior soldier Serhii Lysiuk were awarded the III degree Order of Courage (posthumously).
Chernivtsi oblast
Rueil-Malmaison and Chernivtsi signed a twinning agreement. Cooperation in the fields of sports, culture and humanitarian aid is planned in the future.
This year, 467 combatants used the services of the regional employment service, namely, job search and employment assistance; professional training, advanced training; study by voucher; starting or developing one’s own business within the framework of the Grant For Veterans And Their Family Members program, etc.

The Government of Canada has allocated Ukraine an additional loan of $300m for finance priority expenditures of the state budget of Ukraine through the IMF’s Administrative Account.
For the use of chemical weapons against the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Britain imposed sanctions against the russian forces of the russian defence forces and their leader. On the website of the British government, it is noted that the russia admitted that they used chemical weapons,namely, about chloropicrin, which the International Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons qualifies as a chemical weapon, on the battlefield. In Slovakia, 550 sqm of camouflage nets were woven for the Ukrainian military. The net weaving marathon lasted 24/7 for 6 days in the city of Kosice. Camouflage nets will be sent to 5 Ukrainian brigades.
