Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

As of 16:00, Russian forces did not conduct active offensive operations in the Kharkiv direction, according to the General Staff. However, the border areas of the region continue to suffer from artillery shelling.

The occupiers attempted to attack Ukrainian positions three times in the Kupiansk direction near Holubivka and Zahryzove, but all attacks were repelled by Ukrainian units.

Over the past day, the enemy did not conduct active operations in the Kharkiv direction, as reported by the Regional Military Administration (OVA).

In the Kupiansk direction, there were eight enemy attacks within 24 hours. Ukrainian defense forces repelled assaults in the areas of Kindrashivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Novoosinove, Pishchane, Lozova, and Zahryzove.

Shelling

Medics hospitalized a woman who was injured due to a Russian strike on Kozacha Lopan, reported OVA head Oleh Syniehubov.

In the village of Mala Komyshuvakha in the Izium community, controlled detonations of explosive objects took place from 13:00 to 15:00, according to Ivan Sokol, head of the regional civil protection department.

Russia shelled Morozova Dolyna with artillery around 16:05 and Oleksandrivka around 21:45, reported Viktor Kovalenko of the Zolochiv community. The strikes damaged houses, power grids, and destroyed a barn.

On the previous evening, at 21:48, Russian forces attacked the Kharkiv district, Novovodolazka community, in the village of Rokytne. Shahed drone debris was found at the site.

At 21:45, Russian forces attacked the Chuhuiv district, in the village of Taranivka. A drone crash in a forested area damaged windows, fences of two private homes, and a gas station.

At 13:00, the Izium district, Borivska community, village of Horokhovatka was attacked. The shelling damaged windows, doors of a store building, and an ambulance service vehicle.

At 12:30, the Bohodukhiv district, Zolochiv community, village of Karasivka was hit by a KAB airstrike, damaging 10 private houses and outbuildings.

At 09:36, the Izium district, Borivska community, village of Pisky-Radkivski was attacked by MLRS shelling, damaging windows and the roof of a residential house.

Other

A total of 48 people (including one child) were evacuated from the Kupiansk and Borivske directions over the past day.

The Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, in collaboration with UNICEF, is implementing a pilot project to establish a psychological support service under the Ministry of Education. The project is set to be introduced in 11 educational institutions in the Berestivka and Lozova districts.

Donetsk oblast

Frontline

The Russian army has more than doubled the number of attacks on the Novopavlivka front over the past day. The occupiers launched 17 assaults on Defense Forces positions near Kostyantynopol, Burlatske, and Rivnopil, compared to eight attacks the previous day, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The highest number of Russian attacks targeted the Pokrovsk direction. Ukrainian defenders repelled Russian attempts to advance near Vodyane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Zvyrove, Nadiyivka, Uspenivka, Andriivka, Dachne, Ulakly, and Shevchenko.

The Russian army does not have full control over the Pokrovsk-Kostyantynivka highway. Intense fighting continues near the road, according to Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the “Khortytsia” Operational-Strategic Grouping. On February 10, the analytical project “Deep State” marked part of the road as controlled by Russian forces.

Shelling

Around midday, Russian forces dropped two FAB-250 bombs on a residential area of the city. The strikes ignited houses and vehicles. The attack claimed the life of a 46-year-old man, who died in the hospital during resuscitation efforts. Among the wounded are his 46-year-old brother, an 18-year-old young man, and a family: an 84-year-old grandmother, a 47-year-old father, and a 16-year-old daughter.

One person was injured due to a morning shelling of Kostiantynivka. Since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have launched 11 airstrikes on the city, damaging a cultural institution, a museum, a store, warehouses, as well as multi-apartment and private houses, reported the head of the Municipal Military Administration, Serhiy Horbunov.

Over the past day, the enemy carried out 3,427 strikes along the frontline and on residential areas. According to police, Russian forces shelled 13 settlements. A total of 65 civilian objects were damaged, including 48 residential houses.

In the village of Katerynivka, Kramatorsk district, the occupiers dropped a FAB-250 bomb, injuring two civilians and damaging four private homes.

In the village of Komar, Russia struck with an air bomb “UMPB D-30SN,” injuring one civilian and damaging 10 private houses and two cars.

One person was injured in Nykiforivka, Bakhmut district.

The enemy shelled Kostiantynivka and its surroundings with 11 air bombs, damaging four multi-apartment buildings, an educational institution, a railway track, a high-voltage power line, and a power pylon. In Ivanopillia, five houses were damaged.

In Sloviansk, as a result of two FAB-250 bomb strikes, 17 private houses, an educational institution, three infrastructure facilities, and three civilian cars were damaged. A bomb strike on Bylbasivka damaged seven private houses.

Pokrovsk was attacked by Russian artillery, damaging a private house and an outbuilding.

Luhansk oblast

The occupiers have intensified artillery support in Luhansk region, striking 13 times with this weapon, as reported by the regional military administration. Over the past day, 217 Russian drones were also used. The enemy attacked in the Siversk and Lyman directions, attempting to storm Bilohorivka and Novolyubivka.

Luhansk border guards destroyed a tank and four BMPs of the Russian army over the course of several days of operations near Kreminna and the Serebryansky Forest, as reported on the brigade’s page.

In Luhansk, 80% of the water supply networks have not been repaired for 11 years, and their condition is critical. More and more frequently, the city’s sewage system is rupturing. The occupying authorities have not sought to address the missing funds or internal issues, instead turning to Moscow for assistance. They have requested not only funding but also emergency brigades to fix the ruptures. The lack of qualified personnel was acknowledged by the leader of the so-called “LNR.” The city’s housing and utilities sector has suffered significant losses due to forced mobilization. Local critical infrastructure facilities are on the brink of shutdown.

Occupying forces have blocked civilian traffic on the road connecting frontline Rubizhne with the relatively rearward Starobilsk, citing worsening security conditions. However, Russian armed formations are not prohibited from using this road. Now, local residents must use an even more dangerous route located almost parallel to the frontline to reach Starobilsk.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The office of the first Crimean Tatar TV channel ATR was damaged in a nighttime russian missile attack on Kyiv on 12 February. A video of the aftermath of the attack was posted by journalist and deputy director general of the broadcaster Ayder Muzhdabaev. The shockwave smashed windows in the building, and the studio, newsroom, dressing room, control room and the office of the channel’s editor-in-chief were heavily damaged. The offices of the Ukrainian foreign broadcasting channels FreeDom and Dim were also damaged.

The Obolon district state administration reported that residents of the Obolon district of Kyiv whose real estate was damaged as a result of the shelling of the capital on 12 February may receive one-time financial assistance. 

McDonald’s has reopened near the Lukyanivska metro station in Kyiv. The fast food restaurant was damaged during the russian attack in the capital on 18 January. It is noted that the restoration work lasted for almost a month: the facade, ceiling, interior, expensive company equipment, and the premises of the training centre for employees were damaged. In total, this is the fifth time the facility has been damaged by russian shelling.

On 12 February, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent in Kyiv.This is his first official visit to the country and the first visit of a member of US President Donald Trump’s team to Ukraine.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that almost 600 UAVs have been transferred from the Kyiv community to the military at the frontline. The drones were handed over to the 241st Separate Tank Brigade and the 112th Separate Tank Brigade of Kyiv. In addition, the military received 100 fpv drones, 5 Mavic 3Ts, 10 electronic warfare systems, 3 Starlink, 2 mobile workshops, helmets, tactical goggles and medicines as charity.

The English-language version of the feature film Bucha will be screened in the United States on the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by russian troops. The international tour will also include a press conference with the film’s producer and screenwriter, Oleksandr Shchur, and a charity auction in support of Ukraine.. 

Zhytomyr oblast

The head of Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration informed that additional mobile fire groups have been created and manned in Zhytomyr oblast to protect infrastructure facilities. It is also planned to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure facilities with special technical equipment.

In Korosten, construction of a new rehabilitation and ward building of the city hospital is underway to replace an unfinished building that had been standing for more than 30 years. The project is funded by the European Investment Bank. The new rehabilitation complex will have 140 beds with intensive care, post-operative care and rehabilitation units.

Sumy oblast

 The Regional Military Administration reported that on the morning of 13 February, the enemy carried out an air strike on the regional center of Sumy, using unmanned aerial vehicles. The UAVs were directed at a private residential sector, targeting peaceful civilians. The consequences of the russian attack are being clarified.

During night and morning, russians carried out 7 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 16 explosions: mortar attacks (5 explosions) and artillery (7 explosions), use of FPV-drones (4 explosions). The attacks targeted Khotin, Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, and Znob-Novhorod communities. 

The regional military administration reported that on 13 February, anti-aircraft guns shot down 8 enemy UAVs of “Shahed” type in the sky over Sumy Oblast. Since the beginning of 2025, 390 enemy drones have been destroyed by the oblast’s air defense units.

Over the past day, russian military forces carried out 104 shellings in Sumy oblast. A total of 186 explosions were recorded. The enemy launched strikes using FPV-drones (27 explosions) and UAVs (10 explosions), artillery (28 explosions), MLRS (20 explosions), mortars (57 explosions), dropped VOG grenades from UAVs (36 explosions), and conducted an air strike using GABs (4 explosions).

On 12 February, 13 communities were under russian shelling: Sumy, Bezdryk, Verkhnia Syrovatka, Yunakivka, Khotin, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Krolevets, Esman, Khutir-Mykhailivskyi, Seredyna-Buda, and Svesa communities.

As a result of the FPV-drone strike on Yunakivka community, three people were injured, and a vehicle was damaged.

In Esman community, one civilian was injured.

In Verkhnia Syrovatka community, one person was injured as a result of russian shelling, and six private houses and an educational institution were damaged.

As a result of enemy strikes, a private residential house in Velyka Pysarivka community was damaged, and the summer kitchen of a private household in Krasnopillia community was partially damaged.

In Krolevets, a farm building was damaged due to a UAV strike, and six heads of cattle were injured.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the special police unit ‘White Angel’ evacuated a family from the border area of Sumy oblast. From Krasnopillia community, which is suffering devastating shelling from the enemy, they managed to evacuate a family with two children and pets.

More than 100 residents of Kursk Oblast evacuated to Sumy after an air strike on a nursing home in Sudzha on 1 February. According to The Washington Post, the evacuation was assisted by Red Cross. Evacuees from the shelled border villages were brought to hospitals and temporary shelters. A few days later, several russians injured in new attacks also arrived..

Sumy City Council informed that 1,440 food kits have been delivered to Sumy, which can be received by displaced persons and community residents affected by russian armed aggression. The food kits were brought by representatives of the charitable foundation ‘Global Empowerment Mission UA’ (GEM). Additionally, the charity manufactured and installed window blocks for one of the houses on Heroiv Krut Street, which was damaged as a result of the russian strike.

Chernihiv oblast

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration reported that on 13 February, the enemy attacked a village in Novhorod-Siverskyi region using mortars and FPV-drones. As a result of the strike, a house burned down, and a hangar and two tractors on the territory of an agricultural enterprise were destroyed.

In Hremiach, Novhorod-Siverskyi community, on 12 February, as a result of enemy shelling with barrel artillery, two residential houses were damaged. The Department of Civil Protection and Defense Work informed that near Arkhypivka, Semenivka community, an FPV-drone explosion caused a fire in an uninhabited house and an outbuilding. 

Throughout the day on 12 February, russian troops attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovs. They fired mortars (37 explosions), barrel artillery (21 explosions), launched unguided aerial missiles (4 explosions), used FPV-drones (14 explosions), and dropped explosives from UAVs (29 explosions). Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that explosions were heard towards 15 villages.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the RMA, reported that last evening and overnight, russian forces attacked Nikopol region. The enemy used kamikaze drones, Grad multiple rocket launchers and artillery. The regional centre and Marhanets community were hit. The shelling damaged private businesses, 10 residential buildings, 2 utility structures, a canopy, power lines, a gas pipeline and infrastructure.

During the day, russian forces attacked Nikopol region nearly 20 times, by kamikaze drones, artillery and dropping explosives from drones. Due to russian shelling in Marhanets, a 70-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were injured and hospitalised in moderate condition. The russian forces targeted the regional centre, Myrove, Pokrov and Marhanets communities. The attack damaged a high-rise building, a store, a business facility, 12 private homes, 7 utility structures and a dormitory.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​Vinnytsia City Council reported that Vinnytsia region has reinforced the soldiers of the 120th Territorial Defence Brigade. These forces are currently holding back russian forces on 2 fronts – northern and eastern. The brigade received 5 more off-road vehicles and a second powerful electronic warfare system.

Kirovohrad oblast

Vitalina Bevzenko, Spokesperson of the Police,  said that one of the russian attack drones used in the latest airstrike on Ukraine was shot down in Kirovohrad oblast. Explosives experts examined the warhead of the drone, which weighed over 50kg and had failed to detonate. They safely destroyed it at a distance from populated areas.

Poltava oblast

A serviceman from Poltava oblast, Serhii Lobachevskyi, was awarded 2 distinctions for evacuating damaged military equipment from the combat zone. One of the damaged combat vehicles was removed to a safe area, saving the lives of fellow soldiers.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, reported that Ukrainian defenders shot down 3 russian drones in Cherkasy oblast.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to Huliapole Department of the National Police, on 12 February, russian forces attacked a police car by a drone in Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia oblast. There were no officers injured.

As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Defence Forces repelled multiple russian attacks on Orikhiv region on 12 February, particularly in the areas of Kamianske and Shcherbaky.

Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that on 12 February, the russian military carried out 441 attacks on 13 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. This included 131 artillery strikes targeting Piatykhatky, Lobkove, Bilohiria, Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Novodarivka, Luhivske, Malynivka and Olhivske.

According to the Yellow Ribbon resistance movement, in occupied areas of Zaporizhzhia oblast, russian forces continue the militarization of education. “Veterans of the Special Military Operation” are being invited to schools as guest lecturers, while young children are being taught the russian and Soviet anthems.

Mykolaiv oblast

As reported by the Ukrainian Air Force, around 6pm, there was a threat of a ballistic missile strike on Mykolaiv oblast.

Referring to the RMA, during the night of 13 February 13, Ukrainian air defence shot down 8 Shahed-131/136 drones over Mykolaiv oblast.

On 12 February, around 1:50om, russian forces launched a Kh-35 cruise missile at the oblast, but it lost its combat capability over open terrain. There were no casualties reported.

Odesa oblast

Based on the information provided by the Regional Military Administration, around 6pm, an explosion was heard in Odesa, possibly linked to a ballistic missile threat from Crimea. The details of the impact are still unknown.

According to the State Emergency Service and Regional Military Administration, russian forces attacked port infrastructure in southern Odesa oblast by drones, injuring a person. The attack damaged port facilities and an inactive educational institution. Also, Shrapnel hit a car with a woman inside, causing a shrapnel wound to her thigh. She was hospitalised in moderate condition.

The Regional Prosecutor’s Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into war crimes committed during the overnight russian attack on port and civilian infrastructure. According to investigators, a private household courtyard was damaged in Odesa oblast.

Kherson oblast

According to the RMA, russian forces shelled Rozlyv village in Kherson oblast, hitting a residential house. A 51-year-old woman suffered an explosive injury and a concussion.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, reported that around 4:30pm, russian forces attacked a car by a drone in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 58-year-old woman and a 62-year-old ambulance driver (who was off-duty) were killed.

Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, said that in the morning, russian forces shelled Tsentralnyi district of Kherson, injuring 2 people. The attack caused disruptions in heating, water and electricity supply, forcing utility services to switch to backup power sources until the situation stabilizes.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, informed that a 14-year-old orphaned girl was evacuated from russian-occupied Kherson oblast at the request of her aunt, with the help of the Civil Association Ukrainian Child Rights Network. She is now safe and receiving necessary assistance.

According to the RMA, on 12 February, a russian drone attack hit 2 municipal workers in Vesele village. Both men suffered blast injuries and concussions, and one also sustained shrapnel wounds to his back.

Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, reported that around 2pm, russian forces shelled Komyshany, injuring a 67-year-old woman who suffered a concussion and a blast injury. She sought medical help the following day.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 12 February, 1 person was killed and 8 injured in russian attacks on 37 settlements in Kherson oblast. The shelling damaged 2 high-rise buildings, 12 private houses, a warehouse and several cars.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk community sent 3 DJI Mavic 3T Enterprise Thermal quadcopters to the Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 100th Separate Mechanized Brigade.

Zakarpattia oblast

Uzhhorod community sent a car, fuel and lubricants, heaters, sleeping bags, generators, medical supplies, and other necessary items to the 212th Separate Battalion of the 101st Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense of Zakarpattia.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

With the assistance of the Olena Zelenska Foundation, new transport units were transferred for the needs of the Regional Clinical Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Council. The vehicles are equipped with a resuscitation unit, a ventilator, and a defibrillator, which allows for resuscitation measures to be carried out directly at the scene of the call.

Lviv oblast

A memorial plaque was unveiled in Strii region in memory of Fedir Bondarchuk, driver of the 3rd Airborne Assault Battalion. He was killed on 9 October 2023 while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, awarded the Order of Princess Olha, 3rd degree, to nurse Olha Bilyk. Senior Sergeant Olha Bilyk has been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since April 2022.

Rivne oblast

The RMA reported that readiness of the new building of the regional veterans’ hospital is 65%.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil community sent 2 GTM DK3500iА generators, 2 DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise quadcopters, 1 DJI Mavic 3T quadcopter, and 2 DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Series Battery Kits to the 413th Unmanned Systems Battalion.

The memory of Ukrainian soldier Serhii Khoroshchak was honored in Ternopil. A memorial plaque in his honor was unveiled on the facade of the house where the defender lived. Serhii was killed on 13 February 2023 near the village of Masiutivka, Kupiansk region, Kharkiv oblast, as a result of a gunshot wound.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi community has allocated over UAH 3m for the Defense Forces to purchase FPV drones, UAVs, and electronic warfare equipment.

Chernivtsi oblast

In 2024, Chernivtsi oblast was allocated UAH 105.7m for the payment of monetary compensation for the purchase of housing for participants in hostilities. 49 families of defenders in Bukovina will have housing thanks to these funds.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Gravehawk air defense system, created specifically for Ukraine, was presented in the UK. Gravehawk was developed from scratch in just 18 months to counter drones, cruise missiles and aircraft. Its development cost was 6m pounds.

Britain at Ramstein announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $187.5m. The package will include tanks, artillery, surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles.

Switzerland approved a three-year $1.6bn aid program for Ukraine. The funds will be distributed in three areas: economic recovery, public services, and civilian protection.
