The shelling of border areas continues. In Sumy oblast, the following settlements were affected: Rohizne, Ulanove, Budky, Iskryskivshchyna, Bachivsk, Korenok, Khodyne, and Ryzhivka. In Chernihiv oblast: Huta-Studenetska, Senkivka, and Semenivka.
The operational situation across the frontline is as follows:
- Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk: The enemy attacked the positions of our defenders twice, launched two airstrikes, dropping six aerial bombs, and carried out 50 shellings of settlements and positions of our troops, one of which involved a multiple launch rocket system.
- Towards Southern Sloboda: The adversary attacked once in the vicinity of Zybine. The combat engagement is ongoing.
- Towards Kupiansk: The adversary advanced twice towards Podoly and Hlushkivka.
- Towards Lyman: Ukrainian warriors repelled five attempts by the invaders to advance towards Stavky, Lyman, and Drobysheve. One combat engagement is ongoing.
- Towards Sloviansk and Kramatorsk: No active offensive actions by the enemy have been recorded.
- Towards Kostiantynivka: The invaders carried out 10 offensive actions towards Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Stepanivka, Novopavlivka, and Sofiivka, and in the vicinity of Pleshchiivka and Rusyn Yar. One battle is ongoing.
- Towards Pokrovsk: The occupiers have tried six times to push our warriors from their positions in the vicinity of Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, and Novopidhorodne. One combat engagement has not yet concluded.
- Towards Oleksandrivka: The enemy carried out one offensive action in the vicinity of Rybne. Additionally, Pokrovske sustained an enemy airstrike.
- Towards Huliaipole: There were 18 attacks in the vicinity of Huliaipole, Myrne, and Zelene, and towards Dobropillia, Zaliznychne, and Olenokostiantynivka. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinity of Vozdvyzhivka, Kopani, Rivne, Novoukrainka, Liubytske, and Novoselivka. Nine combat engagements are ongoing.
- Towards Orikhiv: The enemy conducted no offensive actions but launched an airstrike on Tavriiske.
- Towards Kherson: There were no offensive actions by the enemy.
In other directions, no significant changes in the situation are currently occurring. No attempts by the enemy to advance have been recorded. Ukrainian troops continue to exhaust the enemy along the entire line of combat engagement and in the rear.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
The General Staff reports that towards Southern Sloboda, the occupier attacked once in the vicinity of Zybine, and the combat engagement continues. Towards Kupiansk, russia went on the offensive twice in the vicinity of Podoly and Hlushkivka.
During the past day, there were 128 combat engagements. Towards Southern Sloboda, the adversary assaulted Defense Forces positions once near Prylipka. Towards Kupiansk, the aggressor attacked three times in the vicinity of Novoplatonivka and Podoly.
On the night of March 12, russia struck a transformer substation in Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv. Part of the city was left without power; electricity has already been restored for some consumers. Around 11:40, russians hit Zarozhne in Chuhuiv community with a drone, causing a fire at an agricultural enterprise.
In Zolochiv, around 11:00, a 35-year-old man suffered an acute stress reaction due to a drone strike on a vehicle belonging to a critical infrastructure enterprise. During the cleanup operation, russia launched a repeated strike: six rescuers sought medical assistance, and two were hospitalized with blast injuries. Subsequently, occupiers also hit a service vehicle of the hromada’s rescue officers; the car was damaged, but no people were injured. Russians also launched a repeated strike on the impact site in Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv, where no people or equipment were affected.
On March 12, russia struck Oskil in Kharkiv oblast twice; the consequences are being clarified. Due to overnight strikes, part of one settlement in Malodanylivka hromada remains without electricity, and restoration within a single day will not be possible. At night, russia struck Velykyi Burluk, causing a fire in a garage box on the territory of a forestry; there were no injuries.
During the past day, Kharkiv and 14 settlements of the oblast came under enemy strikes. Three people were killed and 16 were injured, including a child. In Kharkiv, men aged 45 and 50 were killed, while women aged 47, 50, and 60, and men aged 49, 39, 36, and 33 were injured. In Chuhuiv, a 53-year-old man was killed, and women aged 41 and 60 were injured. In Merefa, women aged 74 and 37, a 62-year-old man, and a 6-year-old girl were injured. In Lebiazhe of Prolisne hromada, a 53-year-old man was injured; in Oleksandrivka of Zolochiv hromada, a 43-year-old man was injured; and in Hrushivka of Kindrashivka hromada, a 72-year-old woman was injured.
The enemy attacked Shevchenkivskyi and Kyivskyi districts of Kharkiv with UAVs. The enemy actively used various types of weapons against Kharkiv oblast: 8 KABs, 13 Geran-2 type UAVs, 4 Molniya type UAVs, 6 FPV drones, and 15 UAVs of an unidentified type.
Civilian infrastructure objects were damaged and destroyed:
- in Kharkiv, a civilian enterprise, power grids, and window glazing of an apartment building were damaged;
- in Bohodukhiv district, agricultural equipment was damaged in Zolochiv;
- in Kupiansk district, 2 private houses, an outbuilding, and 3 cars were damaged in Prykolotne village;
- in Izium district, a private house was damaged in Oskil village;
- in Kharkiv district, 4 private houses, 3 cars, and a garage were damaged in Merefa; 3 private houses, an outbuilding, and a car in Derhachi; and a structure in Tsykuny village;
- in Chuhuiv district, 3 tractors, a loader, and a hangar were damaged in Lebiazhe village; a tractor and an outbuilding in Ivanivka village; a private house in Chuhuiv; and a private house and 2 outbuildings in Malynivka village.
Yevhen Vasylenko, spokesperson for the regional rescue department, reports that rescuers came under repeated russian strikes twice in Kharkiv oblast over the past day. This occurred in Kharkiv and Zolochiv; there were no injuries, though a fire tanker was damaged.
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 149 people over the past 24 hours. A total of 22,303 people have been registered at the point since the start of its operation. Almost 37 hectares of territory in Kharkiv oblast were demined over the week, including 4.2 hectares of agricultural land, over 500 meters of road sections, 10 hectares of forest land, and 2.4 kilometers of power lines.
Donetsk oblast
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reports that over the past day, Ukrainian military towards Pokrovsk repelled 24 assaults by the russian army. Occupiers attacked in the vicinity of Bilytske, Nykyforivka, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Kotlyne, Udachne, Muravka, Novopidhorodne, and Novoplatonivka. Occupiers carried out another 22 attacks towards Kostiantynivka.
Vasyl Denysiuk, sergeant of 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade, says that towards Lyman, the russian army is likely preparing to intensify assaults in the spring when green leaves appear on trees and bushes. Currently, occupiers are heavily striking the logistics of the Defense Forces, while Ukrainian military identifies and attacks positions of the russian army drone pilots.
During the first 11 days of March, unmanned systems forces of the 7th Air Assault Corps towards Pokrovsk destroyed over 570 occupiers and hundreds of units of russian equipment. Among the destroyed items are armored vehicles, artillery systems, trucks, quad bikes, and shelters of russian occupiers.
Serhii Horbunov, Head of Kostiantynivka City Military Administration, reported that during the day on March 12, russian occupiers struck Kostiantynivka with tube artillery. As a result of the shelling, a woman was injured. She was taken to a hospital in Kramatorsk, but doctors were unable to save her.
Dmytro Zaporozhets, spokesperson for the 11th Army Corps, says that russian troops are using the temporarily occupied part of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk oblast as a logistics and command hub for units attacking towards Kostiantynivka and Sloviansk. Occupiers continue to accumulate infantry and equipment for a spring offensive.
On March 11, police recorded 1,288 enemy strikes along the front line and the residential sector of the oblast. Six settlements were under fire: the cities of Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, and Sloviansk; the settlement of Bilenke; and the village of Ocheretyne. 74 civilian objects were destroyed or damaged, including 18 residential buildings.
russians dropped five KAB-250 bombs on Kramatorsk—a woman was injured, and 68 civilian objects were damaged. In Druzhkivka, an administrative building and a civilian car were damaged as a result of hits by enemy FPV drones. russian troops struck Bilenke with a Molniya-2 UAV—a private house was destroyed.
Luhansk oblast
Robert “Madia” Brovdi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, says that on the night of March 12, all russian army locations in Luhansk oblast were struck by Ukrainian-made FP-2 drones. Pilots of the 9th “Kairos” Battalion of the 414th “Madia’s Birds” Brigade attacked a launcher, an echelon, and warehouses.
Luhansk Regional Military Administration reports that russians directed 17 UAVs and FPV drones toward the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Luhansk oblast. The enemy struck twice with mortars and used automatic grenade launchers. Overall, towards Lyman and Sloviansk, the adversary attacked 13 times in the vicinity of five settlements.
In Dovzhansk, private entrepreneurs are closing their businesses en masse. Due to obstacles created by russian occupiers, they are unable to earn a living. Business entities are increasingly filing for termination of activities or postponing it by submitting zero reporting. A similar situation is observed in other cities of the so-called “lpr.” Following the closure of industrial enterprises, particularly mines, it is now the small business’s turn.
The emergence of a regional environmental operator has not changed the situation. Despite announcements regarding the replenishment of the garbage collection fleet and the installation of containers, the cities of occupied Luhansk oblast are “drowning” in trash. Specifically, in Sievierodonetsk, construction debris left by contractors after showcase repairs is being added to household waste at illegal dumps. In some quarters of the city, specialized equipment has not cleared trash since September 2025—a period of six months.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
An updated programme for the sustainability of life support systems and critical infrastructure for 2023–2027 is being implemented in Kyiv oblast. It aims to help people and communities become less dependent on interruptions in electricity and heat supply. The programme provides partial compensation for the cost of equipment for private and multi-family homes.
Today, more than 238,000 internally displaced persons live in Kyiv oblast. There are 33 temporary accommodation sites in the oblast, including 17 modular towns, where almost 5,800 people live. Seven housing reconstruction projects for IDPs have been implemented. Separately, the Kyiv Regional Council has approved the ‘Integration of Internally Displaced Persons’ programme for 2026-2027, which provides for the creation of 278 residential premises for 775 internally displaced persons through the reconstruction of disused buildings.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko reported that the capital’s community had sent another batch of necessary aid to the defenders on the front line. Almost 3,100 UAVs of various types were sent to the fighters of the 225th separate assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that a russian soldier is suspected of torturing and killing a civilian woman during the occupation of Makarov. On 7 March 2022, the commander of a motorised rifle platoon of the 37th separate motorised rifle brigade of the russian Armed Forces, together with other military personnel, arrived at a cottage town in occupied Makarov. There, he threatened a civilian woman with an automatic weapon and forced her to go to one of the houses. The soldier brutally beat her and inflicted numerous injuries, from which she died on the spot.
A delegation from the Finnish city of Tampere, led by Mayor Ilmari Nurminen, arrived in the Ukrainian capital. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, since the start of the full-scale war, the Tampere City Council has provided the capital with eight passenger buses, generators, first aid kits and sleeping bags, and a water tanker equipped to transport drinking water to the population. Between 2022 and 2025, the Finnish city hosted groups of children from Kyiv for rehabilitation at a children’s camp.
Zhytomyr oblast
Oleg Derzhanivsky, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Council’s National Resistance Training Centre, reported that over 800 civilians from various communities in Zhytomyr oblast had completed a free training course at the National Resistance Training Centre, which was established in July 2025. Instructors with combat experience taught them firearms training, the basics of UAV control, tactical medicine, and self-defence.
Sumy oblast
On 12 March GasMerezhi LLC reported that in Bilopillia, a russian FPV drone attacked a vehicle of an emergency service team. A report was received via the 104 hotline about damage to a gas pipeline caused by a UAV strike in Bilopillia. A gas service crew immediately arrived at the specified address. As soon as specialists began localising the accident, a second strike occurred. The workers were not injured, but the crew and their vehicle could not be evacuated for a long time because access to them was impossible.
Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, said that on the morning of 12 March, a 66-year-old man was killed after stepping on an enemy mine in Khotyn community. The wife of the deceased was evacuated from the settlement.
Oleksii Kuleba, Minister for Communities and Territories Development, informed that on 12 March in Sumy oblast, a drone strike damaged locomotives, a railway track and a railway station building,

According to the Regional Military Administration, on 11 March, more than 40 police officers were injured in Shostka community as a result of a UAV attack on an administrative building. In Boromlia community, men aged 35 and 40 were injured in a UAV strike. A 39-year-old man sought medical assistance after being injured in Hlukhiv community in a guided aerial bomb strike on 10 March.
From the morning of 11 March to the morning of 12 March, russian forces carried out nearly 70 attacks on 25 settlements across 13 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted 17 hours and 4 minutes over the past day.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
- In Shostka community, administrative buildings, multi-apartment residential buildings, private houses and vehicles were damaged;
- In Hlukhiv community, non-residential premises, a multi-apartment residential building and a passenger vehicle were damaged;
- In Znob-Novhorodske community, private residential houses were damaged;
- In Popivka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- In Boromlia community, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
- In Shalyhyne community, a private residential house was destroyed;
- In Esman community, a private residential house was destroyed.
Over the past day, 37 people were evacuated by local authorities in cooperation with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and civil society organisations from border communities.
Chernihiv oblast
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that on 12 March at 11:34am., russian forces attacked residential quarters of Semenivka. According to preliminary information, a 51-year-old local resident was injured. An FPV drone using fibre-optic control also destroyed a civilian Niva vehicle that had been parked near a shop.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that during the night, russian forces attacked Mena community, killing a 15-year-old girl. The girl’s parents were injured and hospitalised. The family’s house was destroyed, and two residential houses were damaged.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that during the day on 11 March, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (11 explosions) and MLRS strikes (40 explosions), launched Molniia-type UAVs (five explosions), attacked by FPV drones (21 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (four explosions). Eleven settlements were under enemy fire.
According to Chernihivoblenergo, Residents of Chernihiv oblast spent more than 336 hours without electricity in February 2026 due to scheduled hourly power outages. The longest period without electricity — nearly 357 hours — affected consumers assigned to queue 6/2. At the same time, the shortest duration without power was recorded for subscribers in queue 2/2, at 336 hours and 35 minutes.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reported that as a result of a UAV strike in Mykolaivka community, a 65-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman were injured. A private house and an outbuilding caught fire.
The occupiers continued attacking by drones and artillery, targeting the regional centre and Marhanets community. 2 high-rise buildings, enterprises and vehicles were damaged. As a result of yesterday’s attacks in Nikopol, 2 private houses were damaged.
The russian forces attacked the regional centre, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural, and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. A 78-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man were injured. Fires broke out. 6 patrol stations, an agricultural enterprise and 4 private houses were damaged, and an outbuilding destroyed. The enemy attacked Pokrovske and Mezhova communities by UAVs. 2 men aged 60 and 58 were injured. Fires broke out and a vehicle and a non-operational building were damaged. Hrushivka community was attacked by drones, damaging a gas pipeline.
Vinnytsia oblast
In Vinnytsia, a memorial ceremony was held for fallen defender of Ukraine Taras Sirik, who was 21 years old. The soldier was killed while carrying out a combat mission in Luhansk oblast.
Cherkasy oblast
A memorial plaque honoring Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Kononenko was unveiled on the facade of Mezhyrich School. He had served in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since September 2023, underwent an amputation and suffered numerous injuries, and died at the age of 39.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that almost 16,000 subscribers were left without electricity as a result of today’s russian attack on Zaporizhzhia, and more than 25,000 households were left without heating.
2 patrol police officers were injured as a result of russian shelling of Zaporizhzhia.
1 person was injured following a russian attack on Komyshuvakha in Zaporizhzhia oblast. Residential buildings in the settlement were damaged.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 11 March, the Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled 22 russian attacks in Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions. Combat engagements took place near Huliaipole, Novoukrainka, Zaliznychne, Tsvitkove and Myrne.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that as a result of russian KAB strikes on Zaporizhzhia yesterday, 75 private houses and 12 high-rise buildings in Shevchenkivskyi and Kosmichnyi districts were damaged.
On 11 March, the russian military carried out 780 strikes on 42 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 15 people were injured as a result of russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Mykolaiv oblast
Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba informed that a russian UAV struck railway infrastructure in Mykolaiv oblast, damaging a locomotive.
Referring to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, on 11 March, russian forces attacked Mykolaiv oblast by Shahed drones, targeting industrial infrastructure in Bashtanka region. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Based on the information provided by the Air Force, during the day, groups of UAVs launched from the waters of the Black Sea were repeatedly detected heading toward Odesa oblast.
Kherson oblast
At approximately 1:45pm, russian forces shelled Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 65-year-old woman, who was in her yard at the time, sustained a concussion, blast injuries and a closed head injury.
At around 1:15pm, russian forces attacked a cyclist by a drone in Stepne village in Novoraisk community. A 64-year-old resident sustained shrapnel wounds to his legs, a concussion, blast injuries and a closed head injury.
At about 12:30pm, russian forces shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. An 85-year-old woman sustained a concussion, blast injuries and a closed head injury.
At approximately 11:40am, russian forces shelled Zelenivka in Kherson oblast. A 61-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman who were in the yard of their house sustained shrapnel wounds to their limbs, concussions, blast injuries and closed head injuries.
At around 10am, russian forces once again shelled a hospital in Kherson. A 21-year-old man, a 22-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man sustained blast injuries, concussions and shrapnel wounds.
At midnight, russian forces attacked a house in Liubymivka in Novovorontsovka community by a UAV. A 59-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman sustained concussions, blast injuries and closed head injuries. The man was diagnosed with facial contusions.
Yesterday during the day, russian forces killed a resident of Havrylivka in Beryslav region. The occupiers attacked a 66-year-old man by a UAV. He sustained injuries incompatible with life.

Volyn oblast
In Lutsk, they said goodbye to Fedorenko Oleksii, Senior Driver of the 1st Motorized Infantry Detachment of the 2nd Motorized Infantry Platoon of the 1st Motorized Infantry Company of the Motorized Infantry Battalion. He was killed on 08.20.2024 while performing a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Zaliznoye, Donetsk oblast.
Zakarpattia oblast

For the 4th time, a team of doctors from the UK worked in the Carpathian region as part of the Treatment Of Pain Syndromes in Patients With War Trauma mission. This time, specialists worked together with doctors from the Center for Diagnostics of Neurological Pathology. Among patients were defenders who were helped to overcome phantom and chronic pain and manifestations of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Lviv oblast
A charity event With Love for the Armed Forces of Ukraine was held in the Balytsky Educational Complex of Shehynivka community. Participants of the event prepared snacks, made dumplings, wove patriotic bracelets, created drawings, posters, valentines, and amulets for the defenders. Employees of the educational institution also contributed financially, purchasing the necessary things.
In the People’s House of the village of Myshlyatichi, Shegynivka community, another 10 camouflage nets were woven.
At Lyceum №2 in Mostysk, teachers, students, and parents collected treats, hygiene products, and necessary items.
Rivne oblast
The Security Service of Ukraine has thwarted an attempt by russian special services to carry out a terrorist attack in Rivne. A russian agent was caught red-handed, having planted an improvised explosive device near a coffee shop in the central park. The occupiers planned to remotely detonate the bomb via a mobile phone. The detainee was informed of suspicion under articles on preparation of a terrorist act and illegal manufacture of explosive devices. He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil community sent 10 inverter generators and 8 RadioMaster TX16S Mark II control panels to the 160th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that in 2022-2023, the community donated over 250 different cars, some with the help of benefactors, partners from abroad and their own resources.
Chernivtsi oblast
As part of a working visit to Krasnoilsk community, representatives of the RMA, together with the community leadership, Chernivtsi Customs, and the 31st Border Guard Unit, visited the international checkpoint Krasnoilsk – Vikovu de Sus. They discussed the expansion of infrastructure, primarily to increase the throughput capacity of freight transport.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Julia Kloeckner, President of the Bundestag, announced that Germany will provide Ukraine with an additional EUR 200m. This includes increased funding for reconnaissance drones and civil protection, so that people can be better protected and vital infrastructure can be better protected.
