What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The President of the German Bundestag, Julia Klöckner, arrived in Kyiv on 11 March for a visit. This is her first trip to Ukraine since being elected to office. In the capital, she met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They discussed the international agenda, Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, the unblocking of the 20th package of sanctions, and the implementation of the agreement to allocate €90 billion to Ukraine over the next two years.
On the eve of Ukrainian Volunteer Day, which is celebrated annually on 14 March, Kyiv military personnel received awards from the capital – medals ‘Honour. Glory. State.’ According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko, more than 100,000 combatants who have returned from the front are currently living in Kyiv. Another 100,000 Kyiv military personnel continue to defend Ukraine.
Last year, more than 12 billion hryvnias were allocated from the city budget to help the military. These funds were used to purchase drones, electronic warfare equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
According to the RMA, medical facilities in Kyiv oblast received six powerful generators from the French charity Aide Médicale et Caritative France-Ukraine. To support Ukrainian hospitals, companies, public organisations and concerned individuals from various regions of France joined the fundraising effort.
Zhytomyr oblast
According to the Regional State Administration, communities in Zhytomyr oblast will be able to receive 19.4 million hryvnias in state funds for housing for internally displaced persons. The government has allocated 19.4 million hryvnias in state subsidies. These funds will be directed to local communities for the construction, reconstruction, and repairs of housing in order to create a reliable temporary housing fund for internally displaced persons.
Sumy oblast
The 14th Army Corps reported that since 18 December 2025, the russian army had lost 97 people and another 102 had been wounded in the battles for Hrabivske in Sumy oblast. Near Pokrovka, 114 russian servicemen were killed and 53 were wounded. In this area, the russian military advanced to a slight tactical depth of about two kilometres.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that in the North Slobozhanskyi direction, border guards from the DESTRUCTION TEAM unit continue to inflict damage on the enemy. The fighters destroyed electronic warfare and reconnaissance equipment, UAV control antennas, and enemy shelters. An enemy D-20 cannon was also damaged.
Mayor Mykola Noha reported that on the morning of 11 March, the russian army attacked Shostka with UAVs. Two administrative buildings, four cars, and three residential buildings were damaged. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that a UAV hit the district police headquarters in Shostka. Twenty-two employees are known to have been wounded. The building was destroyed.
The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that a 63-year-old resident of Hlukhiv died in hospital after being wounded by an enemy guided aerial bomb that struck a local enterprise.
During the day, from the morning of 10 March to the morning of 11 March, russian troops carried out nearly 70 attacks on 32 settlements in 15 territorial communities of the oblast. The most attacks were recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs. The air raid alert in the oblast lasted 15 hours and 20 minutes during the day.
Civil infrastructure facilities damaged and destroyed:
– In the Hlukhiv community, non-residential premises, civilian infrastructure facilities and vehicles were damaged.
– In the Shalyhyn community, private residential buildings and farm buildings were destroyed.
– In the Shostka community, civilian infrastructure facilities, a private residential building and non-residential premises were damaged.
– In the Esmanska community, a private residential building was destroyed;
– In the Seredyno-Budska community, a private residential building was destroyed;
– In the Sumska community, a private residential building, residential buildings, farm buildings, non-residential premises and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
– A civil infrastructure facility was damaged in the Lebedyn community;
– A car was damaged in the Bilopil community;
– A civil infrastructure facility was damaged in the Vorozhba community.
Over the course of a day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organisations from border communities, evacuated six people.
A resident of Radkivka in the Sumy district and her two cows were evacuated by volunteers from the First Sumy Humanitarian Headquarters after her home was hit by a russian FPV. According to the woman, the drone exploded right in the house, and Lyudmila herself was injured. Volunteers from the First Sumy Humanitarian Headquarters are transporting people and their livestock from the border areas of the Sumy and Okhtyrka districts free of charge.
The RMA reported that Sumy oblast received another batch of aid to strengthen energy security. Sixteen generators of various capacities from the public organisation ‘National Congress of Ukrainians in Moldova’ were transferred to medical institutions in the region as part of the ‘Warmth for Ukraine’ campaign.
Chernihiv oblast
Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, reported that on 11 March, russian forces struck a sawmill in Semenivka. The production workshop caught fire. According to him, Semenivka had been under attack by russian strike drones since early morning. The aggressor used Molniya UAVs. One of the strikes occurred near a five-story building, damaging the facade and windows in the apartments.
According to Alexander Seliverstov, head of the Novgorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, at 11:40 a.m. on 11 March, four people were injured as a result of another UAV strike in the centre of Semenivka: a man and three female employees of a local shop. All were taken to a local hospital, where they are receiving the necessary medical care. The premises of a grocery store and a civilian car were damaged.
According to the State Emergency Service of Chernihiv Oblast, on the night of 11 March, russian troops attacked local enterprises in the border areas of Novhorod-Siverskyi and Koryukivka with drones. The attacks caused fires in farm buildings. Firefighters quickly extinguished all the fires.
Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that yesterday, an enemy strike hit an agricultural enterprise in one of the villages of the Semenivska community. As a result of the attack, a grain storage facility was completely burned down and equipment was damaged. On 10 March, during the day, 1.5 hectares of grass caught fire in the Chernihiv district due to an attack by a Gerani UAV. The fire was extinguished.
The Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment reported that on 10 March, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivska, Horodnia, and Snovska. The enemy fired mortars (13 explosions) and barrel artillery (2 explosions), launched strikes with Molniya-type UAVs (6 explosions), unidentified UAVs (1 explosion), FPV drones (9 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (8 explosions). Twelve settlements were under enemy fire.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
During the night, air defence forces shot down 16 enemy UAVs over the oblast.
Nikopol region. The occupiers attacked Pokrovske rural and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. An agricultural enterprise was damaged.
Synelnykove region. The enemy struck Petropavlivka community by a UAV. A gas station was damaged.
In total, the enemy carried out 54 attacks across 3 regions, continuously striking the oblast.
Nikopol region. In Nikopol, an 81-year-old woman was killed in her own home as a result of a drone strike. Following artillery shelling, a 43-year-old man was injured. Overall, artillery and UAVs targeted the regional centre, Myrove, Marhanets, Pokrovske rural, Tomakivka and Chervonohryhorivka communities.
Fires broke out. An outbuilding and agricultural machinery caught fire. 3 multi-apartment buildings and 2 private houses, a hospital, administrative buildings, enterprises, a bus, 3 vehicles, an excavator and critical and transport infrastructure were damaged.
Synelnykove region. The occupiers struck Shakhtarske and Petropavlivka communities by UAVs. A private house caught fire.
Kryvyi Rih region. The russian forces attacked Zelenodolsk and Hrushivka communities by drones. A vehicle and infrastructure were damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
The deaths of 10 defenders from Vinnytsia oblast have been confirmed: Yurii Patran, Oleksandr Chornyi, Serhii Bohutskyi, Viktor Slobodianiuk, Kostiantyn Kosteniuk, Oleksandr Snizhynskyi, Oleh Babenko, Erik Azarian, Oleksandr Chechui and Azamat Abdrakhmanov.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Bandurove village in Oleksandrivka community, a memorial ceremony was held for defender Serhii Polishchuk, who was killed on 20 February 2026, near Shevchenko settlement in Donetsk oblast.
In Oleksandrivka and Marianivka communities, residents paid tribute to fallen soldiers Ivan Sliusar and Serhii Sergeiev.
Ivan Sliusar was mobilized on 14 October 2024. Since 4 December of the same year, the rifleman-sniper of an air assault battalion had been considered missing in action. It has now been officially confirmed that he was killed that day while carrying out a combat mission near Romanivka village in Pokrovsk district of Donetsk oblast.
Serhii Sergeiev, 22, was killed on 4 December 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk oblast.
In Kirovohrad oblast, police explosive ordnance disposal specialists detonated the warhead of a russian drone. The downed strike UAV was found in Kropyvnytskyi region after a russian air attack.
In Kropyvnytskyi, a 3rd modular house was installed for a family whose home was damaged during a russian drone attack in March 2025. 2 other modular houses had been installed in July last year. The housing was provided as humanitarian assistance from the United Nations. The delivery of the 3rd house had been delayed because the owners needed to restore documents and formalise inheritance rights to the destroyed property.
Poltava oblast
In the regional centre, memorial ceremonies were held for soldiers Oleksandr Bredun and Oleksandr Koval. Oleksandr Bredun was killed on 6 February 2026, in Dnipropetrovsk oblast during a small arms engagement. Oleksandr Koval was killed on 4 September 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near Terny village in Kramatorsk region of Donetsk oblast.
The body of soldier Viacheslav Bezruchko from Shcherbani community was identified by DNA examination in December 2025, about a month and a half after he went missing. He was killed in Kharkiv oblast. In the Armed Forces, Viacheslav served as a driver and for 2.5 years evacuated wounded soldiers from the battlefield.
2 servicemen from Poltava oblast were killed: Junior Lieutenant Maksym Okhrimenko from Lubny community and soldier Serhii Bienkov from Kremenchuk.
Maksym Okhrimenko was killed on 2 March 2026, in one of the military units.
Serhii Bienkov was killed on 3 June 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near Popiv Yar village in Donetsk oblast.
Cherkasy oblast
In Chornobai community, residents paid tribute to defender Eduard Levchenko. He was killed on 2 April 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in Kursk oblast. For a long time, Eduard had been considered missing in action. His death was confirmed only after genetic testing.
Serviceman Stanislav Lutchenko from Chornobai area was killed in Donetsk oblast. He died on 3 March 2026, while carrying out a combat mission near Novoselivka village in Kramatorsk region of Donetsk oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday, 10 March, the occupiers carried out 706 strikes on 37 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 17 airstrikes on Malokaterynivka, Kushuhum, Veselianka, Slavne, Blakytne, Vesele, Vozdvyzhivka, Liubytske, Shyroke, Kopani, Dolynka, Charivne, and Novoselivka. 426 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV drones) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Komyshuvakha, Kushuhum, Bilenke, Bilenke Pershe, Blakytne, Lysohirka, Shyroke, Liubytske, Stepnohirsk, Mali Shcherbaky, Prymorske, Stepove, Lukianivske, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Myrne, Hirke, Zelene, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, and Pryluky. There were three MLRS strikes on Zaliznychne, Myrne, and Shcherbaky. 260 artillery strikes hit Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Lukianivske, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Zelene, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, and Pryluky. Forty reports were received about damage to homes, infrastructure facilities, and vehicles. One person was injured as a result of an enemy attack on the Zaporizhzhia region.
The General Staff reported that as of 16:00 on 11 March, 14 attacks took place in the areas of Huliaipole, Novoukrainka, Zaliznychne, Tsvitkove, and Myrne towards Huliaipole. Over the past day, 10 March, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled 23 russian attacks towards Huliaipole and Orikhiv.
The Special Operations Forces reported that on the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast, Middle-strike units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck russian military warehouses. In particular, Ukrainian defenders hit a drone warehouse in Novozlatopil and a logistics warehouse in Marianivka.
The Unmanned Systems Forces reported that in Zaporizhzhia oblast they struck a Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile system. It was noted that the Buk-M1 air defense system was destroyed thanks to the coordinated work of aerial reconnaissance, strike UAV operators of the 1st Separate Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces, and the Deep Strike Center.
Berdyansk City Military Administration reported that on the night of 11 March explosions were heard in temporarily occupied Berdyansk in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Mykolaiv oblast
Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday during the day and at night, the enemy attacked the region with Shahed-131/136 UAVs. Transport and industrial infrastructure in Bashtanka district were targeted. There were no casualties.
The head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, said that changes in the tactics of russian army attacks are being observed in the region — russian forces started using Shahed drones during the daytime and are operating them with video communication. They are also targeting sites that will provoke a reaction among the population.
Kherson oblast
Police of Kherson oblast reported that around noon, russian forces attacked a shuttle bus in the regional center. As a result of the drone strike, preliminarily identified as an FPV type, 20 civilians were injured — 13 women and seven men aged between 18 and 66. Four of the injured are in critical condition.

At almost the same time in Liubymivka, russian forces attacked utility workers and volunteers with a strike drone. As a result of the explosion, a 35-year-old man sustained a blast injury, a concussion, and shrapnel wounds to his arm. A vehicle belonging to the local utility enterprise was destroyed, and the volunteers’ vehicle was damaged.
Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that an elderly woman who had been injured during the russian shelling of Dniprovskyi district of Kherson on 9 March died in the hospital. Doctors fought desperately for the life of the 91-year-old Kherson resident for several days, but her injuries proved fatal.
At approximately 07:00 russian occupiers attacked Tsentralnyi district of Kherson with a UAV. As a result of the attack, retail outlets were damaged, and windows were shattered and the facade of a multi-story building was damaged.
According to Police o Kherson oblast, over the past day, 10 March, the russian forces attacked Kherson, Sadove, Antonivka, Kizomys, Bilozerka, Blahodatne, Dariivka, Veletenske, Naddniprianske, Molodizhne, Zelenivka, Muzykivka, Sofiivka, Prydniprovske, Tomyna Balka, Zorivka, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Romashkove, Yantarne, Dniprovske, Rozlyv, Beryslav, Kachkarivka, Tryfonivka, Osokorivka, Dudchany, Krasnosilske, Urozhaine, Kostyrka, Novoraisk, Novomykolaivka, Borozenke, Kozatske, and Vesele. As a result of the russian attacks, 27 objects were damaged: six apartment buildings, 15 private houses, a shop, and five vehicles. One person was killed and 12 were injured, including a teenager.
The General Staff reported that as of 16:00 on 11 March, one combat engagement took place towards Kherson The settlement of Malokaterynivka was struck by an airstrike.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
The killing of 2 defenders from Horokhiv community – Ivan Shvayivskyi and Andriy Matseruk – who gave their lives defending Ukraine was confirmed at the front. After identification, it was established that soldier Ivan Shvayevsky, born in 1994, native of the village of Myrne, was killed on 19 October 2024 while performing a combat mission near the city of Selidove, Donetsk oblast. Flamethrower Andrii Matseruk, born in 1982 from the village of Strilche, fell on 29 December 2024 in battle for Ukraine near the settlement of Makhnivka, Kursk oblast.
Zakarpattia oblast
The funeral of the fallen defender, 46-year-old Vitalii Shelemba, was held in the Holy Ascension Church in Mukachevo. The defender was killed on 22 February 2026, defending Ukraine from the russian enemy.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
In the Carpathian region, since the beginning of 2026, 95 internally displaced persons have received jobs with the assistance of the employment service. In addition to employment, 34 people received vocational training, another 134 received referrals for community service, and 8 people participated in community and temporary work.
Lviv oblast
Lviv will receive 8 large buses from Italy. The transport is planned to be delivered to the city by the end of this week. These are 12-meter Temsa buses of Turkish production of Euro 5 standard. Previously, they worked on intercity transportation in the city of Pescara and its surroundings.
Rivne oblast
Rivne RMA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the National University of Water Management and Environmental Management. It concerns the joint implementation of the Movement without Barriers project in Rivne oblast.
Ternopil oblast
279 defenders from Ternopil will receive a one-time cash grant to purchase equipment. Since the beginning of the year, 1,728 soldiers from the community have received such assistance.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that since the beginning of the year, the community has already received about 180 DJI Matrice 4T quadcopters.
Chernivtsi oblast
Viktor Bachynskyi, Head of the Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination, stated that in Chernivtsi, during the autopsy of the body of a deceased soldier, a grenade was found. This body was transferred from the russian federation as part of an exchange. There have been cases before when explosives were discovered, but this is the 1st time when it was found in the body itself. The experts who conducted the autopsy had to be evacuated.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Another European city joins the UNBROKEN support network. An agreement was signed in Cannes to join Riga in the international UNBROKEN Cities Network. Lviv launched this initiative together with Manchester and Liverpool. It is a network of cities that cooperate in the field of resilience and exchange experiences of communities in times of crisis.
