Russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. In total, there have been 138 combat engagements. Most of the fighting was recorded towards Kurakhove, Pokrovsk and Vremivka.
Today, hostile artillery and mortar fire in Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts affected, in particular, the communities of Tymofiivka, Dmytrivka, Popivka, Bobylivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Semenivka, Marchykhina Buda, Seredyna Buda, Dmytrivka, Prohres, Baranivka, Demianivka, Kamianka, Yeline, Mykolaivka and Nova Huta.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy stormed the positions of our troops four times near Vovchansk, Hlyboke and Starytsia, and the battle is currently ongoing. The enemy also carried out air strikes with drones on Lyptsi, Vysoka Yaruha and Hoptivka.
Towards Kupiansk, russian invaders have been conducting offensive actions near Synkivka, Zahryzove and Zapadne since the beginning of the day. Three firefights are ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the enemy attacked 14 times near Kopanky, Novoiehorivka, Lozova, Nadiia, Makiivka, Terny and in Serebrianka forest. Five attacks are still ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders repelled six attempts by the occupiers to advance in the area of Chasiv Yar and in the direction of Stupochky and Bila Hora.
Towards Toretsk, the occupiers twice tried to force our units out of their positions near Toretsk, and the battle is currently ongoing. Enemy aircraft dropped a UAV on Krymske.
Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy carried out 30 assault operations in the areas of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachanske, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Shevchenko and Chumatske. The Ukrainian defence forces are holding back the russian offensive and have repelled 24 attacks, with six more battles still ongoing.
Towards Kurakhove, the invaders attacked 37 times near Sontsivka, Staryi Terni, Kurakhove, Dalne and Uspenivka. 24 attempts of the occupiers to advance have already been repelled. The fighting continues. Enemy aircraft attacked the settlements of Bahatyr and Ulakly, dropping four unmanned aerial vehicles.
Towards Vremivka, the enemy stormed our defenders’ positions 24 times near Sukhi Yaly, Kostiantynopilske, Rozdolne, Neskuchne and Novodarivka. Eleven combat engagements are ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian troops repelled an attack by the occupiers towards Novodanilivka.
Towards Kursk, the Defence Forces repelled nine enemy attacks, and seven combat engagements are ongoing.
The situation in other sectors has not changed significantly.
President Zelenskyy announced the successful test of Ukraine’s new Ruta missile. Production of other missiles also continues.
Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Tax Committee, reported that cryptocurrency is likely to be legalised in Ukraine. There will be no tax exemption for cryptocurrencies.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
The General Staff said that over 150 attacks were repelled by the Defence Forces on the eastern front yesterday.
Towards Pokrovsk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped 40 russian assaults towards Shevchenko, Pishchane, Novotroitske, Novooleksiivka, Novyi Trud, Dachanske, Lysivka, Myroliubivka, Promin and Pokrovsk.
Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 49 attacks towards Kurakhove. The occupiers were most actively trying to advance near Sontsivka, Staryi Terny, Dachanske, Zoria, Kurakhove, Dachne, Katerynivka, Yelyzavetivka, Hanivka, Antonivka and Uspenivka.
Kharkiv oblast
The General Staff said that russian troops fired artillery and mortars at Tymofiivka, Dmytrivka, Popivka, Bobylivka, Velyka Pysarivka and Semenivka.
The russian army also carried out air strikes on Liptsy, Vysoka Yaruha and Hoptivka.
Towards Kharkiv, russians stormed Ukrainian units four times near Vovchansk, Hlyboke and Starytsia, with one attack continuing as of 4pm.
Towards Kupiansk, the invaders have been advancing near Synkivka, Zahryzove and Zakhidne since the beginning of the day. There are currently three engagements.
Yesterday at 4:45 pm, Kutkivka village of Kupiansk region was under attack by russian troops. A building of an educational institution was destroyed as a result of shelling from multiple rocket launchers.
Towards Kharkiv, russian terrorists unsuccessfully stormed the positions of Ukrainian troops six times near Hlyboke, Lyptsi, Starytsia and Vovchansk.
The enemy attacked our fortifications fourteen times towards Kupiansk, near Zapadne, Pishchane, Lozova and Zahryzove, and three firefights are currently underway.
As a result of increased evacuation measures, 36 people have been evacuated from Kupiansk and Borova directions.
UNESCO’s Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property decides to organise a “special monitoring” mission to the russian-damaged Derzhprom building in Kharkiv. Ukraine will be the first country in the world to use this mechanism. This is an extremely important step for the preservation of our cultural heritage.
Donetsk oblast
Yesterday police recorded 2,298 hostile attacks along the frontline and in the residential sector. The attacks took place in three settlements: Pokrovsk, Komar and Novotroitske villages. 22 civilian objects were damaged, including 15 residential buildings.

Pokrovsk withstood 5 artillery attacks but as a result, russians wounded three civilians, damaged 6 private houses, 3 trade pavilions, a garage, 2 civilian cars and a gas pipeline.
In Novotroitske, one civilian was wounded and a private house was damaged.
The occupants dropped three UMPB D-30SN bombs on Komar village, destroying 8 private houses.
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi reported that the russian army loses about 400 people killed and wounded per day towards Pokrovsk front in December on average. He added that that axis has been one of the most difficult for several months.
Yevhen Skoryna, Commander of the 49th Carpathian Sich Brigade, informed that last week towards Toretsk, the russian military used combined assaults – on foot and with the use of armoured vehicles.
In Pokrovsk, the warehouses and offices of the regional gas company were destroyed by russian strikes, and the movement of repair crews is hampered by the constant danger from russian drones.
Luhansk oblast
The occupiers shelled frontline villages and Ukrainian Armed Forces fortifications in Luhansk oblast seven times. According to the RMA, 39 drones were sent to these areas. Fighting took place near Tverdokhlibove, Novoiehorivka, Hrekivka and Makiivka. The invaders are also active in Serebrianka forest.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regionla Military Administration, reported that residents of 714 settlements out of 920 have to travel several dozen kilometres to buy medicines in pharmacies in the occupied part of Luhansk oblast. In 77% of the settlements of the so-called “lpr” it is impossible to buy medicines. Namely, in 714 out of 920. Locals have to travel several dozen kilometres to buy essential medicines. In addition, in 88 villages, medicines are dispensed only at paramedic and obstetric stations and only on the days they are open. The list of medicines there is extremely limited. In Rubizhne or Siverskodonetsk, where on average one pharmacy serves 10,000 people – not including visitors from neighbouring towns and villages. In more than 400 occupied settlements in the region, there are no health posts at all – it is impossible to get even a basic medical consultation there.
The energy company that serves the city of Lysychansk forces people to buy a new meter when they connect their homes to the electricity supply. They demand rub 4,000 from each subscriber. Otherwise, there will be no electricity, which has been expected since 2022.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Serhiy Popko, Head of KCMA, reported that as a result of the russian UAV attack on Kyiv in the evening, debris fell in Pecherskyi district of the capital in an open area. Preliminary, there was no fire or casualties.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that Kyiv has handed over another batch of aid to the soldiers of the Achilles battalion of the 92nd separate assault brigade. It will be sent to one of the hottest spots in the frontline: An 18-tonne truck with a manipulator for the engineer service, 8 pick-up trucks and 650 FPV drones. In total, the brigade has received equipment and drones worth UAH 174m from the community of Kyiv this year.
Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn informed that the National Demining Operators joined the charity event “Safe Hectare for the Hero City of Irpin”. Six mine action operators will clear one hectare of private sector in Irpin free of charge. The newest Ukrainian development, a Zmii armoured ground UAV equipped with a mower-clearing machine, will be used to clear the areas.
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the RMA, reported that a number of measures and programmes are being implemented in Kyiv oblast to support veterans. In 2024, oblast received more than UAH 1.1bn from the state budget to purchase 478 apartments. Moreover, the first inclusive town with 59 houses was built. Oblast has 9 veterans’ hubs. This year, funding for regional veterans’ support programmes totalled UAH 170m. Support for the development of veterans’ businesses continues – 98 of them already operate.
The Regional Military Administration announced that the construction of a kindergarten and separate buildings of an elementary school with a shelter on the territory of Vorzel Lyceum №10 is underway in the village of Vorzel, located in the Bucha district. The construction work is being carried out at the expense of the Armed Aggression Consequences Elimination Fund.
Kyiv Regional Council approved the Programme of Socio-Economic and Cultural Development of Kyiv Oblast for 2025. The programme takes into account the challenges of wartime and its main priorities are to support the oblast’s defence capability, restore infrastructure, ensure local energy independence, promote economic sustainability, support veterans and their families, and provide social protection.
Bila Tserkva hosted the final of the gas and smoke protection team competition among the oblast’s SES units. The event was a real test of endurance, professionalism and teamwork. In the final part, 13 best teams competed for the victory. The first place went to the specialists of the Special Purpose Emergency and Rescue Unit of Bila Tserkva.
Zhytomyr oblast
Regional Military Administration reported that residents of Zhytomyr oblast will receive over UAH 85m in compensation for property damaged by russian shelling under the eRestoration programme. As of today, the commissions have made 845 decisions on compensation.
Zhytomyr RMA announced that Oliiv community plans to place more than 30 wind turbines on its territory to strengthen the oblast’s energy sector. This was discussed at a meeting with a representative of Atlas Global Energy (Turkish Eksim Holding). The signing of a memorandum of cooperation in the renewable energy sector with the company is scheduled for the near future.
On 10 December, a new safety environment was opened at Khazhyn Lyceum of Semenivka Village Council in Berdychiv region. The newly created classroom has everything needed for children of all ages to learn fire and road safety rules, familiarise themselves with mine safety guidelines, learn to provide first aid to victims and master civil protection skills.
Sumy oblast
Sumy City Council reported that on 12 December, in the morning and at noon, the russian army attacked Sumy community using UAVs. One person was injured in the attacks. The strikes caused damage to private homes, shattering windows and damaging roofs. Farm buildings and a car were also destroyed.
During night and morning, russians carried out 2 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 4 explosions. The attacks targeted Myropilia and Bilopillia communities.
Myropilia community: the enemy fired by artillery (3 explosions). As a result of the shelling, a non-residential building and an outbuilding were destroyed.
Bilopillia community: the russians dropped 1 mine on the territory of the community.
On 11 Desember, russians carried out 20 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 114 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Esman, Svesa communities.
Krasnopillia community: the enemy fired by mortars (5 explosions).
Velyka Pysarivka community: an attack was carried out by FPV-drones (6 explosions). Non-residential premises were damaged.
Esman community: an attack was recorded by FPV-drones (2 explosions), mortar shelling (5 explosions).
Myropillia community: russians struck by artillery (14 explosions), MLRS (12 explosions).
Svesa community: there was an attack by FPV-drones (3 explosions).
Putyvl community: russians dropped 3 mines on the territory of the community.
Khotin community: there was a grenade launcher attack (6 explosions).
Bilopillia community: the enemy struck by MLRS (32 explosions).
A British judge has delivered humanitarian aid to Sumy Oblast. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Judge David Caston has visited Ukraine 37 times, providing humanitarian assistance to civilians in frontline areas, including Sumy oblast, as well as supplies for the military. David plans to deliver his next shipment in January or February, depending on the assembly of the aid package and the support from the organization he collaborates with.
Chernihiv oblast
Throughout 11 December, russian forces targeted three communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk. The attacks involved mortars, barrel artillery, UAVs, and FPV-drones, resulting in a total of 39 explosions.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community
– 1 explosion near Mykhalchyna-Sloboda village (dropping of an explosive device from a UAV).
Semenivka community
– 9 explosions (probably by 120mm mortar) and 8 explosions (probably by 152mm artillery) near Tymonovychi village.
– 2 explosions (probably by FPV-drones) in Hremiachka village.
– 1 explosion (by FPV-drone) in Leonivka village – a non-residential building caught fire.
– 2 explosions (by FPV-drones) near Yanzhulivka village.
– 3 explosions (probably by 120mm mortar) in Mykolaivka village.
– 15 explosions (probably by 120mm mortar) in Medvedivka village.
– 1 explosion (probably by artillery) in Prohres village.
Snovsk community
– 5 explosions (dropped explosive device from UAV), 3 explosions (by FPV-drones) and 3 explosions (probably by 120mm mortar) near Khrinivka village.
No casualties or injuries among the local population were reported as a result of the shelling.
Snovsk City Council reported that nine resilience points in Snovsk community of Chernihiv Oblast received humanitarian aid from the Norwegian Refugee Council. The assistance included electric kettles, blankets, bedding sets, mattresses, pillows, charging stations, and extension cords.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the RMA, reported that during the night, the enemy shelled Nikopol region twice by artillery, targeting the regional centre and Myrivka community.
Throughout the day, the enemy repeatedly attacked Nikopol region by artillery and kamikaze drones. The attacks targeted the regional centre, Marhanets and Pokrov communities. A 51-year-old woman was injured during the shelling. Infrastructure and businesses were damaged, including a store, 11 private houses, 2 outbuildings, greenhouses, power lines and a gas pipeline.
Vinnytsia oblast
According to Vinnytsia City Council, the community provided 5 mobile and functional Mavic 3T quadcopters to the soldiers of the 77th Separate Airborne Brigade.
Poltava oblast
A memorial ceremony for Senior Soldier Volodymyr Kasianyk, who defended Ukraine against russian forces, was held at the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Poltava.
Cherkasy oblast
Talne of Cherkasy oblast paid tribute to fallen serviceman Volodymyr Yablonskyi, who was killed in Donetsk oblast. He was 44 years old.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled a russian attack near Novoandriivka in Orikhiv region. In Huliaipole region, russian forces did not conduct offensive actions.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that russians attacked Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 3 people were injured in the attack. Explosive blasts and debris damaged roofs and windows of houses.
Referring to the Prosecutor General’s Office, following a missile attack on a medical clinic on 10 December, 11 people were killed and 22 injured, including a 5-year-old girl. The search and rescue operation in Zaporizhzhia has concluded.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 11 December, russian forces carried out 188 strikes on 9 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. These included 96 artillery strikes on Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria and Novodarivka.
Mykolaiv oblast
Vitalii Kim, Head of the RMA, reported that on 11 December at 10:12am, russian forces attacked Ochakiv community by an FPV drone. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
According to the Ukrainian Navy, as of 6am on 12 December, no russian ships were present in the Black Sea or the Sea of Azov. In the Mediterranean Sea, 6 enemy ships are present, 4 of which are carriers of Kalibr missiles, with a total volley capacity of up to 41 missiles.
Kherson oblast
Referring to the RMA, russian forces attacked a car in Kindiika by a drone. A 54-year-old man sustained injuries, including an explosive trauma, shrapnel wounds to his forearm and a concussion.
Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, stated that russian forces shelled Korabelnyi district of Kherson. A 50-year-old woman suffered explosive and closed head trauma, a concussion and shrapnel injuries.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, informed that russian drones killed a 67-year-old man in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, on 11 December, russian forces dropped explosives from a drone on Kozatske in Kherson oblast. A 50-year-old woman was killed and a 55-year-old man injured.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, reported that on 11 December, russian forces shelled 29 settlements in Kherson oblast. 6 people were injured. Damage included an apartment building, 16 private houses, a garage and vehicles.

Volyn oblast
The Military Unit A4932 received a Canon PIXMA G3470 BFP. The Military Unit A4056 received 3 DJI Mavic 3 Pro (RC), 2 DJI Mavic 3T Enterprise (Thermal) quadcopters and 10 VRK-8 UAVs with a day camera. Aid was provided by Lutsk community.
Zakarpattia oblast
A memorial plaque in honor of the fallen Hero Ihor Prokopov was opened on the facade of Uzhhorod Lyceum №15. Ihor Vladyslavovich was a graduate of this institution. He was killed on 9 August 2024. Buried on the Hill of Glory in Uzhhorod.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 25 drones to the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigades from budget funds.
Lviv oblast
20 servicemen were sent for treatment abroad as part of medical evacuation. They are already waiting in hospitals in France, Germany and Austria. One of the largest medical evacuations was carried out by two special buses and three ambulances.
On the facade of the children’s art school named after Viktor Matiuk in the city of Sokal, a plaque was installed, on which the memory of Vasyl Hnatyuk, Commander of the 2nd Engineering and Camouflage Department of the Military Unit A4733, was immortalized. Vasyl received the call sign Musician in the army. He was killed as a result of an enemy drone strike on 24 July 2024, near the village of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk oblast.
Rivne oblast
The National Police received another anonymous report about the mining of the building of Rivne RMA and the Regional Council. According to the protocol, employees were evacuated. Special services conducted an inspection of the premises. No explosive objects were found.
During the year, 3 veteran hubs were opened in Rivne oblast within the framework of the Politics of Heroes.
Ternopil oblast
The 35th Separate Rifle Battalion was given a Muraha ground drone, 3 anti-aircraft missiles and 5 generators. The innovative equipment was developed as part of the National Security Projects Competition at the initiative of Ternopil City Council. The robotic complex Muraha, REB is the result of the support of talented developers. Winners received monetary certificates, which were translated into 64 units of innovative products for the protection of Ukraine.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council compensated 50% of the cost of paid education at a university for participants in hostilities. Already 119 participants in the war received such compensation for a total amount of more than UAH 1m. In addition, 959 children received the status of victims of hostilities and armed conflicts.
The RMA reported that it awarded the For Military Service to Ukraine medal (posthumously) to Lt. Col. Vyacheslav Horbachevskii.
Chernivtsi oblast
An Alley of Fame was opened in Kelmentsk. The memorial perpetuates the memory of defenders of Ukraine, natives of Kelmenetsk community. The Alley of Glory was consecrated by the bishop of Chernivtsi and Bukovynskyi, the bishop of the united Chernivtsi diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Feognost, together with military chaplains and priests.
The oblast sent 26 generators, 12 Mavic 3t and Mavic Pro quadcopters, 15 FPV-drones, 4 Starlink stations, 3 high-terrain vehicles, several EW devices, medicines and other necessary equipment to the 82nd Separate Amphibious Assault Brigade of Bukovyna, 92nd, 93rd and 94th Battalions of the 107th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
A Ukrainian delegation led by Dariia Gerasimchuk, adviser to the President’s representative on children’s rights and child rehabilitation, visited Ireland to strengthen cooperation for the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported and displaced by russia. The visit took place as part of the Stolen Voices information campaign, which is part of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Pedro Sanchez, Prime Minister of Spain. They discussed support for Ukraine, especially for the contribution to strengthening our air defense with Hawk systems.
Dan Jorgensen, new European Commissioner for Energy, said that he considers it his priority to develop a plan that will finally sever all energy ties between the EU and the russian federation. He pointed to the EU’s growing purchases of russian liquefied natural gas as a particular problem. In addition, 5 EU countries (Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Finland) still depend on russia for the supply of nuclear fuel.
