On 11 August, the Defense Forces continued to resolutely counter the enemy’s attempts to advance deeper into Ukrainian territory, focusing their efforts on disrupting the occupiers’ offensive operations. The russian aggressor is trying to exploit its advantage in manpower and air support.
There were 65 combat engagements on the front line. The hottest areas were Pokrovsk and Lyman.
The occupiers continued to use aviation and artillery against the border regions of Sumy oblast. Specifically, the vicinities of Zarichne, Seredyna-Buda, Porozok, Volfyne, Kruzhok, Mykhailivske, and Mykhalchyna Sloboda were under artillery fire. The enemy also launched MLRS strikes on Oleksandrivka and conducted airstrikes on Kiianitsa, Yunakivka, and Simeikine.
Towards Kharkiv, russian terrorists launched three assaults on Ukrainian units’ positions in the vicinities of Vovchansk and Tykhe. The battle in Vovchansk is still ongoing.
The enemy attacked Ukrainian positions three times towards Kupiansk. Near Berestove and Pishchane, the attacks were successfully repelled.
Towards Lyman, the enemy attacked near Makiivka, Nevske, Novosadove, and in the Serebrianka Forest. There were 13 engagements in this area, with a battle still ongoing near Makiivka. The situation remains under control.
The enemy continueed its attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses towards Siversk but was receiving a strong response from Ukrainian defenders. Near Verkhnokamianske, Ivano-Daryivka, and Vyimka, the occupiers tried four times to push back Ukrainian units, with two engagements still ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, the occupiers launched six assaults near Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka, with two engagements still continuing.
Towards Toretsk, the number of enemy attacks increased to four. The enemy tred to advance near the settlement of Niu-York, where Ukrainian defenders repelled two attacks, and near Zalizne and Druzhba, where two assaults were repelled. The aggressor’s aviation was actively engaged, with the settlement of Toretsk being bombarded, including the dropping of guided bombs. The occupiers also shelled Diliivka with unguided rockets.
Towards Pokrovsk, there was the highest number of engagements. The occupiers made 26 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the vicinities of Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Zhelanne, Orlivka, and Mykolaivka. The Defense Forces held the line and repelled half of the enemy’s attacks, with 13 battles still ongoing. The enemy is most active near Zhelanne and Kalynove. Oleksandropil and Mykolaivka were hit by unguided rockets from assault aircraft.
Towards Kurakhove, the occupiers attacked Ukrainian units once, attempting to advance near Kostyantynivka.
Towards Vremivka, one enemy assault near Vodiane was repelled.
Towards Orikhiv, in the vicinity of Mala Tokmachka, the occupiers made two unsuccessful attempts to advance but faced fierce resistance. The enemy also used aviation to strike Novandriivka and Lobkove.
Towards Kherson, two enemy attacks were unsuccessful.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, at night, russia attacked Ukraine with four North Korean KN-23 missiles. They also launched 57 Shahed-type drones.
Dmytro Lykhoviy, Spokesman for the Tavria operational and strategic group of troops, informs, of the 536 munitions dropped from the copters yesterday, 11 were poisonous. He noted that information about the use of chemical weapons is passed on to the Support Forces, which investigate each case, and then to international organisations.
Taras Melnychuk, representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Parliament, says that the government has allocated UAH 500 m from the state budget reserve fund to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The money was allocated to implement measures to strengthen the state’s defence capabilities related to the arrangement of training grounds and firing ranges.
The General Staff said that Ukrzaliznytsia created a special reserve of train tickets for military personnel and their relatives. More than 500 military personnel are able to use the reserve every day for trains running from and to frontline cities. The list is periodically expanded. The reserve is also available to relatives of military personnel.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
The General Staff of the Armed Forces reports that the Defense Forces repelled the russian assault near Vovchansk. In general, towards Kharkiv, the russians attacked three times. As many times, russians attacked towards Kupiansk near Berestove and Pishchane, all attacks were repelled.
The losses of the russian army for the day towards Kharkiv amounted to 116 people and 50 units of military equipment. According to the press service, among the russian equipment, destroyed by the Ukrainian military were 2 tanks, 7 artillery systems, 11 cars, 9 units of special equipment, 21 drones. Significant changes in the military situation in the north of Kharkiv did not take place: in Vovchansk, the russians regrouped assault squads, in the vicinity of Hlyboke and Lyptsi, occupiers distributed personnel on positions and established communication.
The commander of a separate platoon of unmanned aerial vehicles of the 92nd Brigade says that due to the breakthrough of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk oblast of the russian federation, the occupiers began to use artillery less towards Kharkiv. According to him, the intensity of artillery shelling has decreased.
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv military administration, says that a 77-year-old man had a sharp reaction to stress when at around 08:00, russians shelled Oleksandrivka with artillery. The village’s agricultural enterprise and power grids were damaged, and a house destroyed.
Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi RMA, reports that the railway and energy infrastructure was damaged in the border town of Kozacha Lopan – at night, russia dropped 4 MRLS on the town. At least 10 houses were destroyed, and as of 09:30am there is no communication and partial power supply in Kozacha Lopan.
The day before, at 11:55pm, Zolochiv village, Zolochiv community, Bohodukhiv region, came under fire. The roof of a two-storey administrative building burned down as a result of the rocket attack. Also, 8 private households and power lines were damaged.
At 3:35pm the village of Lisna Stinka of Kupianskregion was damaged. An 87-year-old man died as a result of the shelling.
At 3:55pm, Kurylivka of Kupiansk region was shelled. As a result of the shelling, private houses were burning.
At 12:31pm the town of Kupiansk was hit. A car was damaged as a result of an FPV drone strike.
At 10:10am, the vicinity of Velyki Prokhody, Kharkiv region was shelled. A civilian car was damaged as a result of the shelling.
At 10:02am, Mytrofanivka village, Kupiansk region was affected. The shelling damaged 2 industrial premises.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy continued assault operations. Six combat engagements took place there. All of them took place in the area of Vovchansk.
The number of attacks towards Kupiansk reached ten. Ukrainian defence forces repelled all enemy assaults near Synkivka, Berestove, Hlushkivka and Stelmakhivka.
Donetsk oblast
The General Staff said that Ukrainian defence forces repelled 95 russian attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts over the last day. Most of the battles took place towards Pokrovsk – 38, near Zhelanne, Hrodivka and Vozdvyzhenka – 10, 8 and 5 respectively. Towards Lyman, Kramatorsk, Toretsk and Pokrovsk, 20 battles are ongoing. Russian troops are trying to advance near the town of Niu-York, where Ukrainian soldiers are repelling two attacks. The russian army also bombed Toretsk.
Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of the RMA, informs that in the morning, russians shelled Kramatorsk with Smerch systems. Eight people were wounded. The victims are local residents aged 42 to 77. One of the wounded was sent to Dnipro for treatment, two are receiving professional help in Donetsk oblast, and the rest do not need hospitalisation. Forty-two private houses, 19 multi-storey buildings, 5 utility companies, 7 private enterprises and an infrastructure facility were damaged.
Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office said that all those killed in the attack on the town on 9 August were identified in Kostiantynivka. According to the agency, 14 people were killed, including three children – girls aged 9, 11 and 16. Forty-four people sustained injuries of varying severity.
The operational situation in the region as of the morning of 11 August:
Pokrovsk region. In Kurakhove, a person was wounded and 8 houses damaged; another 4 houses were damaged in Hannivka. In Hrodivka, 1 person was killed and 1 wounded, numerous houses were damaged. In the middle of the night, russians shelled Pokrovsk, Hryshyne and Rih, damaging 2 infrastructure facilities, an administrative building and a business. In Rivne of Myrnohrad community, an enterprise was damaged.
Kramatorsk region. In Lyman community, 2 houses were damaged: in Torske and Zarichne. In Kramatorsk, an infrastructure facility was damaged, 4 people were injured. In Kostiantynivka, 2 private houses and an outbuilding were damaged; a person was killed in Stinky.
Bakhmut region. Two houses were damaged in Siversk and another one in Serebrianka.
In total, russians fired 30 times at the settlements of Donetsk oblast over the last day. 1177 people were evacuated from the frontline, including 419 children.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Military Administration, informs that over the past day, russians killed 3 residents in Kramatorsk, Hrodivka and Stinky. Another 3 people were wounded in the region over the last day.
Luhansk oblast
The russian army tried to push through Ukrainian defences near Stelmakhivka five times, 13 times in the vicinity of Nevske, Makiivka and Serebrianka forest. The enemy was also active in Bilohorivka. The occupants fired at Nevske, where people are still living, with cannon artillery and used UAVs. They attacked Makiivka with cannon and rocket artillery and UAVs. The village was shelled four times directly from a multiple rocket launcher system.
Artem Lisohor, Head of Luhansk Military Regional Administration, says that the law adopted in the kremlin on deprivation of recently acquired russian citizenship for refusal to register for military service has already been signed. This applies primarily to residents of the territories occupied by Russia. A written refusal is not required – it is enough to find out during the inspection that there is no fresh mark of registration by the military commissariat. At the same time, in the regions of the russian federation, such a violation is punishable by a fine.
The residents of Lysychansk living in the vicinity of the glass plant still do not have a centralised water and electricity supply. During the two autumn and winter periods, radiators also remained cold.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the regional military administration, informed that the enemy attacked oblast at night with missiles and attack drones. The alert lasted for almost 8 hours. Air defence forces were on alert in the oblast, with targets being shot down. No direct hits to residential and critical infrastructure were recorded.
The State Emergency Service of Kyiv oblast reported that as a result of the downing of a russian missile, debris fell on private houses in Brovary region. Rescuers found the bodies of a 35-year-old man and his four-year-old son under the rubble. Five units of SES equipment and more than 300 rescuers were working at the site to clear the rubble. They were assisted by engineering equipment from local administrations.
Two people were killed and three people were injured as a result of the fall of debris from downed russian drones and missiles in Kyiv oblast. The injured are being provided with all necessary medical care. According to Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the Regional Military Administration, there were attack consequences in three regions. As of 2:30pm, two private houses were completely destroyed and 22 others damaged to varying degrees. Nine cars were damaged. In addition, the dome of a church was damaged in one of the communities.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed that, according to preliminary information, russians used a North Korean missile during the attack on Kyiv oblast on the night of 11 August. In total, he noted, the russian army has fired more than 30 missiles and more than 800 guided bombs against Ukraine this week alone.

Representatives of The HALO Trust, an international organisation that helps countries recover from warfare, visited Borodianka Hub. Certified instructors from The HALO Trust, together with Dasha Tkachenko, conducted a mine safety training for civilians. Olena Biletska, Head of the Ukrainian Women’s Guard, presented the hub and spoke about future plans.

A mural in honour of Ruslan Piskovyi, a kickboxing master of sports and a senior soldier of the 112th separate brigade of the Territorial Defence Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who died in the war, was created on Roman Shukhevych Avenue in Kyiv. The mural was created by the Kailas-V art group. According to the artists, it combines Ruslan’s military feat, faith and childhood dreams.

On 10 August, the third day of the Protasiv Yar festival took place in Kyiv. The event is held once a month on Saturdays and is dedicated to the memory of Roman Ratushnyi, a civil activist and scout with the 93rd Kholodnyi Yar Brigade, who was killed defending Ukraine near Izium, Kharkiv Oblast, in June 2022. The programme includes a variety of events: concerts, poetry readings, lectures, excursions, as well as events related to democracy and human rights, including documentary film screenings and discussions.
Zhytomyr oblast
Zhytomyr Mayor Serhii Sukhomlyn announced that solar power plants are being installed at utility companies in the communities of Zhytomyr oblast. These are the measures to provide consumers with uninterrupted services in full in the case of possible power outages in autumn and winter. The installation of solar panels that will provide local water utilities with electricity during temporary power outages is nearly complete.
Adaptive sports competitions for veterans and military personnel were held in Zviahel. They were organised to rehabilitate and re-socialise servicemen and veterans who had been injured. The Strong of Ukraine competition was attended by 130 veterans from different cities of Ukraine. Vasyl Virastiuk, a world champion strongman, was the chief judge of the competition.
Sumy oblast
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that on the night of 11 August, one person was injured in the Velyka Pysarivka community as a result of russian shelling. The community was hit by a UAV dropping explosive ordnance and shelling from multiple rocket launchers.
In total, at night and in the morning, russians fired 11 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. Thirty-four explosions were recorded, including air strikes by CABs, mortar and MLRS attacks, and the dropping of explosives from UAVs. Sumy, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Putyvl, Hlukhiv, Esman communities were shelled.
On 10 August, the russian military fired 32 times at Sumy oblast. A total of 83 explosions were recorded. According to the regional military administration, 12 border communities were shelled.
Nova Sloboda community: the enemy fired mortars (9 explosions) and conducted air strikes with drones (3 explosions).
Putyvl community: russians dropped 5 mines on the community’s territory.
Esman community: mortar shelling (9 explosions), a UAV air strike (1 explosion), and 1 FAB-500 from UMPC.
Krasnopillia community: FPV drone attacks (5 explosions), mortar attacks (12 explosions) and artillery attacks (2 explosions).
Velyka Pysarivka community: mortar shelling (10 explosions).
Seredyna-Buda community: FPV drone strikes (3 explosions), shelling with cannon artillery (4 explosions) were recorded.
The russian military carried out air strikes with the KAB on Yunakivka community (2 explosions), Khotyn community (2 explosions), Myropillia community (3 explosions), Hlukhiv community (1 explosion), and Vorozhba community (1 explosion).
Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that on 10 August at around 18:00, the russian army shelled the town of Bilopillia with guided aerial bombs. A 39-year-old man was wounded. His condition is severe.

The North Operational Command reported that the building of an educational institution in Bilovody was destroyed, a person wounded and private houses damaged in Bilopillia, one private house destroyed in Vorozhba, about 10 households damaged, and two private houses damaged in Sopych as a result of russian attacks.
Chernihiv oblast
The SBGS reported that russian troops attacked two border communities in the oblast . A total of 39 explosions were recorded.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community: 17 mortar and UAV attacks near Hremyach, Mikhalchyna Sloboda and Krasnyi Khutir.
Semenivka community: 22 attacks with mortars, cannon artillery and UAVs on the outskirts of Bleshnya, Tymonovychi, Arkhipivka and Semenivka.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that in Chernihiv oblast, russian shelling caused a power outage in the area of household consumers. A total of 1564 customers in 7 settlements were left without electricity.
Chernihiv border guard detachment commented that no changes in the situation on the border with the Republic of Belarus have been recorded. The situation is under control.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, said that the attacks in Nikopol region did not stop from evening until morning. The occupiers shelled the area about a dozen times with artillery and kamikaze drones. The enemy targeted the region center, Myrove, Pokrovsk and Marhanets. In Nikopol, 2 outbuildings, a minibus and solar panels were hit.

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, said that Air Defense Forces shot down 6 enemy UAVs in the Cherkasy oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that on 10 August, the russian army conducted 422 attacks on 14 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. It shelled Novopavlivka with multiple rocket launchers, Bilohiria, Piatikhatky and Novoandriivka with aircraft, and attacked others with drones and artillery. One person was killed and another was injured in the shelling.
Mykolaiv oblast
Communities in Mykolaiv oblast are actively involved in reconstruction of educational facilities and shelters through the unique state recovery management ecosystem DREAM. Alla Velikhovska, Director of the Department of Education and Science at Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, notes that communities create and upload project estimates to a platform where donors can choose objects for repair and shelter construction. This not only simplifies the recovery process but also attracts additional financial resources.
Odesa oblast
The Thousand Doors Restoration Workshop is engaged in the restoration of old doors in Odesa. Oleksandr Levytskyi, head of the workshop, said that since 2022, the carpenters have been restoring doors damaged by russian attacks. The restoration of one door can take from two to six months.
Kherson oblast
In the morning, the russian military attacked a residential area in Kherson. The shells hit two private houses at different addresses. A fire broke out in one of them. Rescuers extinguished the fire.
In the morning, on 11 August, the russian army shelled the village of Veletynske in the Kherson oblast. An 81-year-old woman was injured. Doctors treated her.
In the afternoon, on 11 August, the russian army attacked Antonivka in Kherson oblast. A 72-year-old woman was injured. She was taken to hospital.
According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, the russian army attacked Kindiika in Kherson oblast. Two people were injured. Both had contusions, explosive and craniocerebral injuries. The man was diagnosed with a shoulder injury, the woman with a shrapnel injury to her leg.
At night, the russian military attacked Kherson City Council’s municipal enterprise Khersonelectrotrans in Kherson. The strike damaged trolleybuses, buildings, trees and the company’s contact line. There were no casualties.
In the evening of 10 August, the russian military attacked Korabelnyi district in Kherson with an FPV drone. A 27-year-old police officer was injured. He was diagnosed with an explosive injury and concussion.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, said that on 10 August, the russian army attacked 15 settlements in the oblast. An administrative building, gas pipelines, agricultural machinery, two high-rise buildings and 23 private houses were damaged. One person was killed and 11, including a child, were injured.

Volyn oblast

Zakarpattia oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 50 FPV drones to the military of the 102nd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade thanks to the budget funds.
10 military children went on a journey to the city of Trakai in Lithuania. These trips are for children of defenders who have killed or are missing, military children who have received combat injuries, as well as for children whose parents are directly involved in hostilities.
Lviv oblast
The 1st children’s car, created by Ukrzaliznytsia together with UNICEF, left Lviv oblast. The day before, a new carriage departed from the Main Railway Station of Lviv on the route Kharkiv – Yasinia as part of train №15/16. It is adapted for the travel of the smallest passengers up to 8 years old. A team of experts from the United Nations Children’s Fund in Ukraine worked on its creation with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Rivne oblast
The Air Defence Forces shot down aerial targets in Rivne oblast at night. No infrastructure damage or destruction was recorded. People were not injured.
The Sarna Victory took place in the Rivne region. This is an adaptation event for veterans and their family members. In the centre of Sarn, there were thematic locations where you could get various information about social and legal support, mental health, and veteran sports.
Ternopil oblast
A Ternopil-based company sued the russian federation for hundreds of millions for destroyed property. The court took into account the legal position of the Supreme Court, which states that after the beginning of the war in Ukraine in 2014, the court of Ukraine, when considering a case where the russian federation is the defendant, has the right to ignore the immunity of this country and consider cases on compensation for damage as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation, under a claim filed against this foreign country. In addition, the case file does not contain any evidence of the use of the plaintiff’s destroyed property for military purposes, so the actions of the Russian Federation were committed in violation of the laws and customs of war.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Recently, 20 children whose parents died in the war or went missing returned from a vacation at a sports and tourist camp in Dresden (Germany). Another 25 children of this category rested in the children’s camp Praha Family Camp in Irshava (Zakarpattia oblast); 70 children in the camp EcoLife na Zbrucha village. Bunnies (Volochysk community); 2 children were recuperating at the Artek medical center. In general, the plan to improve the health of more than 4,500 children from Khmelnytskyi community has already been implemented.
Khmelnytskyi City Council sent quadcopters, UAVs, EW, REP, spare parts, etc. worth UAH 52m to military units.
Chernivtsi oblast
Medics from Bukovyna held a campaign to collect funds for the purchase of FPV drones for military units of the territorial defence of the oblast. UAH 467,670 was deposited into the separate savings account of the regional organisation of the trade union. The 1st batch of drones (20 quadcopters worth UAH 300,000) was sent to the military during the Medical Worker’s Day celebrations. The defenders have already received the 2nd batch (11 quadcopters worth UAH 165,000).
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
In July, the russians killed the largest number of civilians in Ukraine since October 2022. According to the UN, during July, as a result of russian attacks, at least 219 civilians were killed, and about 1,018 more were injured. The UN monitoring mission also notes that the trend of increasing the number of casualties among the civilian population continues to increase since March 2024.
Andrii Yermak, Head of the President’s Office, met with Pawan Kapoor, Deputy National Security Adviser of the Prime Minister of India. They discussed the situation at the front and the shelling of civilian infrastructure, specifically, the russian attack on Kostiantynivka.
As part of the USAID Program Competitive Economy of Ukraine, a project aimed at supporting the energy independence of Ukrainian business was launched. It provides non-refundable grants for enterprises to purchase 500 to 1,500 kW gas-piston cogeneration plants. These mini power plants will produce electricity and heat at the same time. 15 companies from all over Ukraine will be selected to participate in the project.
