Towards Kharkiv, near the settlements of Vovchansk and Starytsia, the enemy tried to break through defensive lines of Ukrainian defenders five times.

Towards Pokrovsk, the invaders made 49 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from the occupied positions in the vicinity of Novopoltavka, Myroliubivka, Yelizavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Myrnohrad, Novyi Trud, Zvirove, Udachne, Kotlyne, Novooleksandrivka, Novovasylivka, Novoandriivka, Novoielizavetivka, Andriivka, Kurakhove and Yantarne. The defense forces are holding back the enemy’s onslaught and have repelled 30 attacks, 19 clashes are still ongoing. The enemy’s losses are being specified.
Towards Novopavlivka, the invaders attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops 11 times near Konstantinopol, Zelenivka, Rozlyv, Rozdolne, Velyka Novosilka and Neskuchne, three clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy launched an airstrike with unguided missiles near the settlement of Piatikhatky.
Towards Huliaipole and Kherson, the enemy did not carry out any active actions.
In the operational zone in Kursk oblast, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled 10 attacks by russian invaders during the day, eight more attacks are ongoing. The enemy launched more than 160 attacks, 14 of them from multiple launch rocket systems.
In other directions of the front, the situation has not changed significantly.
The Ministry of Justice has restored all the main services of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USR) portal after a large-scale cyberattack by russia. According to the ministry’s website, the portal is again available for free search of information in the register, generation of extracts, obtaining results of administrative services by access code, and access of state bodies to information from the register via access identifiers.
Timur Tkachenko, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration, says that on the night of January 10, debris from a russian drone hit a multi-story residential building in Kyiv. There were no injuries, only windows and a car were damaged.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
In Dvorichnaya towards Kupiansk, the russian army is advancing in the eastern part of the village as reported by Ruslan Mykula, co-founder of the DeepState analytical project. A significant part of the private buildings of Dvorichna is already under the enemy, they are able to hide in basements, houses, they already have a place to quarter their personnel.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that towards Kharkiv, five attacks by the occupiers occurred near Vovchansk and Starytsia. Lemishchyne and Timofiivka were under russian shelling.
Towards Kupiansky, seven battles with Russians are ongoing, as of 16:00 one battle has ended. The russian army is attacking near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Zahryzove and Lozova.
Nine battles continue towards Lyman, there were a total of 32 attacks here, in particular near Zelenyi Hai and Stepy.
The day before, towards Kharkiv, Ukrainian troops repelled two enemy attacks near Starytsia and Vochansk.
Towards Kupiansk, there were eight enemy attacks. The defense forces repelled the enemy’s assault actions near Zapadne, Kucherivka, Nova Kruhlyakivka, Petropavlivka, and Zahryzove.
The press service of the 78th separate airborne assault regiment reported that an Italian who fought on the side of the russian federation was captured near Kupiansk. The man’s name is Gianni Chenni, he is from Naples.
Shelling
The day before, at 15:40, the enemy attacked the city of Kharkiv, Nemyshlyanskyi district. The strike was carried out by a Molniya UAV. Three private houses and two cars were damaged.

At 09:47 the enemy attacked Chuhuyiv region, Losivka village. As a result of the shelling, an outbuilding was damaged. A 30-year-old man was injured.

As a result of the intensified evacuation measures from Kupiansk and Borova directions, 23 people were evacuated, including 1 child.
The second underground school in Kharkiv is planned to open at the end of January, the press service of the city council reported. Six more underground schools are also planned to be built in the city.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck a russian command post of the 3rd Army Corps in the occupied city of Svitlodarsk, Donetsk oblast .
Viktor Trehubov, Spokesman for the Khortitsa Military Unit reported that the defense forces “hold” Kurakhove TPP and inflict fire damage on the russian army. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are destroying a large number of russian equipment towards Kurakhove.
Soldiers of the Azov brigade repelled a mechanized assault by the russian federation towards Toretsk, the brigade reported. The russian assault brigade involved several units of armored vehicles, including BMPs and MT-LBs.
Serhii Dobriak, Head of the RMA, reports that more than 2 km remain to the outskirts of Pokrovsk from the front line. About 7 thousand residents remain in the city. The russian military is shelling settlements with FPV drones, artillery, mortars, MLRS, and GABs.
The commander of the 2nd mechanized battalion “Onuki Adolfivna” of the 66th separate mechanized brigade Yurii Horobets, call sign Yudzh, says that russian military personnel towards Lyman are storming in small infantry groups from different sides simultaneously. The russian army is conducting rotations, pulling up reserves, looking for “weak spots” in the Ukrainian defense.
Shelling
Donetsk SES informs that russian aircraft struck the city of Bilytske, Pokrovsky region, Donetskoblast. As a result, the fire department and equipment were damaged. There were no injuries or deaths among the personnel of the fire and rescue unit as a result.
Anastasia Medviedieva, Spokeswoman for the regional prosecutor’s office, reports that one woman was killed, another was wounded during the shelling of Pokrovsk.
Serhii Horbunov, Head of the RMA, says that the russian army shelled Kostiantynivka in the morning – an apartment building and a car were damaged.
The day before, two people died due to russian shelling in Donetsk oblast. During the day, the police recorded 3,698 enemy strikes on the front line and residential sector. russian troops shelled three settlements: the cities of Pokrovsk and Siversk, and the village of Hryshyne. 5 civilian objects were destroyed, including 4 residential buildings.
The occupiers covered Siversk with artillery – they killed two civilians, damaged 2 private houses.
In Pokrovsk, a nine-story building and market pavilions were damaged as a result of the attacks.

Luhansk oblast
Artem Lysohor, Head of the RMA, reports that towards Siversk, the invaders again tried to achieve success in Belohorivka, but their assault was repelled. Towards Lyman, they attacked with the support of aviation. They pressed towards Tverdokhlibovye, Makiivka and Hrekivka. The enemy opened fire 19 times with artillery of various types. They directed a record 170 drones at Ukrainian positions for this section of the front.
It is impossible to get to Lysychansk, Luhansk oblast without local registration and russian-style documents.
In Rubizhne, local residents complain not only about the low quality of housing repairs, which are being started only in the most surviving high-rise buildings. The impressiveness of these restoration works is also confirmed by the fact that russians are indifferent to the half-destroyed shops and administrative buildings located between the houses. The invaders do not set as their goal the reconstruction of the infrastructure and the development of the city.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that at night the enemy attacked the capital with UAVs. In Solomianskyi district, a drone hit the technical floor of a 16-storey residential building. Rescuers cleared the dangerous structures of the damaged building. A car was damaged in the yard of the building. Utilities and the district commission for technogenic and environmental safety and emergencies are working at the location.

The Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Kyiv City State Administration reported that 13 cultural heritage sites were damaged as a result of the russian drone attack on Kyiv on 1 January. The buildings are registered in state and private ownership, and four of them sustained significant damage. Among the damaged objects: one monument of national importance, eleven of local importance, nine of which are architectural monuments, two are historical monuments.
Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced that the capital’s community handed over a modernly equipped mobile school for training in the use of FPV drones to the Third Assault Brigade. The old MAZ bus was renovated and converted into a mobile school by the Kyiv Motor Transport Enterprise as part of the Kyiv Defender programme. The bus equipment operates autonomously thanks to a powerful generator.
The Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership was signed by the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, HealthRight International office and the International Charitable Foundation Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health. The goal is to provide comprehensive support to war-affected people, including internally displaced persons and residents of oblast who survived the occupation.
In Kyiv oblast, more than 21,000 people received assistance under the Winter Support programme. The initiative is aimed at supporting the most vulnerable people to purchase winter clothing and footwear for children.
The film Bucha by Stanislav Tiunov became the most watched film in Ukraine on Netflix for the week. The film tells the story of a volunteer who takes people out of Bucha, Vorzel and other russian-occupied settlements. The film is based on the real-life biography of the volunteer Konstantin Gudauskas.
Zhytomyr oblast
The regional military administration reported that last year, through cooperation with charitable organisations, social institutions in Zhytomyr oblast received humanitarian aid totalling UAH 16.4 million. In 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine handed over 48 off-road vehicles and minibuses, 158 FPV drones and batteries, ammunition drop systems and night vision devices, and 18 electronic warfare equipment to perform their tasks.
Zhytomyr Regional Employment Centre reports that in 2024, 217 employers in Zhytomyr oblast received compensation payments for the employment of 316 internally displaced persons totalling almost UAH 7 million. In total, the state paid UAH 320 million to employers under the compensation programme for the employment of more than 15,000 internally displaced persons.
Sumy oblast
The regional military administration reported that on 10 January, air defense units in Sumy Oblast shot down four enemy Shahed drones. Since the beginning of 2025, air defense forces in the region have destroyed a total of 84 russian drones.
In the night and in the morning, russians carried out 7 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 38 explosions, using mortars and artillery. The attacks targeted Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Hlukhiv, Esman, and Seredyna-Buda communities.
On 9 January, russians carried out 94 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 159 explosions. As reported by the RMA, 11 border communities were shelled.
Velyka Pysarivka community: the enemy struck by mortars (15 explosions), FPV-drones (1 explosion) and dropped VOG from UAVs (8 explosions). The NAR also carried out air strikes from helicopters (10 explosions).
Krasnopillia community: dropped VOG from UAVs (21 explosions), mortar attacks (25 explosions), artillery shelling by self-propelled guns (8 explosions), FPV-drone strikes (3 explosions).
Myropilia community: recorded a strike by an FPV-drone (1 explosion) and dropped VOG from UAVs (2 explosions).
Esman community: the enemy struck by artillery (11 explosions), mortars (2 explosions), FPV-drones (4 explosions) and dropped VOG from UAVs (4 explosions).
Seredyna-Buda community: mortar shelling (4 explosions), dropping of VOG from UAVs (2 explosions), strikes with FPV-drones (10 explosions). As a result of enemy strikes, the administration building was damaged.
Shalyhyne community: FPV-drone strike (2 explosions), artillery shelling (6 explosions).
Yunakivka community: russians struck with self-propelled guns (4 explosions), launched GABs (3 explosions).
The enemy also struck with FPV-drones on the territories of Bilopillia (2 explosions), Hlukhiv (6 explosions), and Putyvl communities (1 explosion). The russians dropped 4 mines on the territory of Nova Slobidka community.
On 9 January, bomb disposal experts from Sumy Police neutralized the warhead of a downed russian drone in Romny Region. According to National Police of the oblast, a local resident discovered the partially destroyed body and fragments of an unidentified UAV near her home in one of the regional villages. The strike drone was equipped with a powerful thermobaric warhead weighing 50 kilograms.
Chernihiv oblast
In Chernihiv oblast, another russian drone attack targeted the border town of Semenivka on the evening of 9 January, wounding a woman. According to Chernihiv Regional Military Administration Head Viacheslav Chaus, the attack also damaged a business facility and ignited non-residential buildings. He reported that the enemy launched five strikes using “Geran-2” drones. Enemy forces have been heavily attacking the town since Saturday, 4 January.
Chernihiv border detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that during the day, on 9 January, russian army attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk communities.
Novhorod-Siverskyi community: in Kovpynka village, as a result of the dropping of NPP from a UAV (1 explosion), a private house was destroyed. Also recorded was 1 hit by an FPV-drone in Kamianska Sloboda village and 6 mortar strikes in Hremiach.
Semenivka community: as a result of the shelling of a “Shahed” type UAV (5 explosions) in Semenivka, a civilian was injured and 2 private houses were destroyed. The dropping of NPP from a UAV was recorded in Yanzhulivka village (2 explosions) and Bleshnia village (1 explosion); in Tymonovychi village (3 explosions).
Snovsk community: mortar shelling in Kliusy village (3 explosions), the dropping of NPP from a UAV in Yelina (1 explosion), strikes by FPV-drones in Khrinivka village (3 strikes).
Border guards of Chernihiv detachment destroyed russian anti-tank missile system (ATGM) disguised as a fir tree. The ATGM, hidden in an abandoned administrative building near the northern border, was spotted by aerial reconnaissance after observing russian military activity in the area. The ATGM was eliminated using a kamikaze drone.
On 9 January, representatives of the “Prolisok” humanitarian mission evacuated 20 people from Semenivka, including four with limited mobility. The evacuees were transported by buses to Chernihiv, where they will be accommodated in a modular town. Most of the evacuees are elderly, but there are also families with children among them.
In Zhadove, the local outpatient clinic and ambulance station have been able to draw power from a solar power plant since the end of 2024. According to Semenivka community head Serhii Dedenko, the installation was facilitated by the charitable foundation “Fortetskyi.” Additional equipment is currently awaited to optimize the system.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that at night, the enemy shelled Nikopol region twice with artillery. They targeted the district centre and the Marhanets community. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Sinelnykivka district was also shelled.
The enemy continues to terrorise Nikopol region. There were more than fifteen attacks per day. The occupiers fired from artillery, kamikaze drones, and dropped ammunition from drones. They targeted the district centre, Chervonohryhorivka and Marhanets communities. Two men, aged 46 and 74, were injured. They were hospitalised in moderate condition. Enterprises, 5 private houses, 3 outbuildings, a dozen garages and power lines were damaged.
Kirovohrad oblast
Four communities in Kirovohrad oblast reported the deaths of local soldiers Ruslan Radkevych, Oleksandr Lytvyniuk, Serhiy Lysenko and Oleksandr Polishchuk.
Poltava oblast
A pilot project for social and psychological support for veterans is being developed in Poltava. It involves the work of psychologists, art therapists, and social workers in prosthetics and rehabilitation facilities.
Cherkasy oblast

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
The attack on Zaporizhzhia on 8 January is the largest incident since the start of the full-scale invasion, with such a high number of casualties recorded simultaneously. The enemy strike occurred during rush hour (3:30–4:00 p.m.) when residents were returning from work. The area was densely populated. As a result of the attack, two minibusses were destroyed, passengers were killed, and two people were killed in a tram. Additionally, 36 vehicles were damaged.
The number of victims from the enemy strike on Zaporizhzhia increased to 127. Four more people sought medical help in the regional center following the attack on 8 January. The number of hospitalized individuals rose to 74, with 12 in critical condition.
Yesterday, the occupiers launched 527 strikes on 10 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy carried out two airstrikes on Temyrivka. 355 drones of various modifications targeted Stepnohirsk, Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, and Novodarivka. Four MLRS strikes hit Shcherbaky and Novodanylivka. Additionally, 166 artillery strikes were carried out in Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, and Novodarivka. Authorities received 21 reports of damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.
Mykolaiv oblast
Yesterday, 9 January, around 4:10 p.m., russian forces attacked Mykolaiv using an unidentified UAV. A 49-year-old man was injured in the strike.
Earlier, at approximately 12:04 p.m., the enemy carried out artillery shelling on Kutsurub community. Four private houses, a utility building, and a power line were damaged in the village of Dmytrivka. Power supply has since been restored. Additionally, the enemy attacked the community three times with FPV drones, but no casualties were reported.
The ongoing hostilities have caused environmental damage to Mykolaiv oblast estimated at nearly 300 billion UAH. The most significant losses have occurred in the temporarily occupied Kinburn Spit. According to Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, 96% of the landmass on the Kinburn Peninsula has been destroyed by fire due to combat actions. Damages include 602.1 hectares of forest within the Kinburn Spit Regional Landscape Park, 121.7 hectares within the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve, and 6,865.6 hectares within the Biloberezhzhia Sviatoslava National Nature Park.
Social workers in Mykolaiv oblast received 40 electric bicycles worth over 2.3 million UAH from the public organization “Proliska” and the Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund (UHF). The bicycles were distributed among the communities of Mykolaiv oblast, including Voskresensk, Kutsurub, Chornomorsk, Vesniane, Mishkovo-Pohorilove, and Shevchenkove. These bicycles will enhance the accessibility of social assistance for over 68,000 residents of these communities.
Shevchenkove community also received modern generators with capacities of 5 and 7.5 kW, ensuring stable operation of safety centers during prolonged power outages. This assistance was made possible through support from international partners, including RC Steinfurt (Germany), Citizen Wind Park Farmers in the Steinfurt District, Rotary Club Cherkasy Center, Rotary Club Mykolaiv, and the Humanitarian Headquarters of the Center for Business Support and Economic Development.
Odesa oblast
As of 6 a.m. on 10 January, there were 7 enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, including 2 carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo of up to 22 missiles. Over the past day, 3 vessels passed through the Kerch Strait in russia’s interest, and 2 more ships entered the Sea of Azov.
In Odesa oblast, the Order of “For Courage” III degree was presented to the mother of the late National Guard soldier Oleksandr Chebotaiev. The President of Ukraine signed the decree posthumously awarding the soldier on 26 July, 2024. Oleksandr Chebotaiev lost his life on 16 July, 2023, while performing combat missions near the village of Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Kherson oblast
Around 10:00, russian forces attacked Kherson with UAVs. A 43-year-old man was injured, suffering an explosive trauma and shrapnel wounds to his back.
Yesterday, russian forces shelled the liberated right bank of Kherson oblast using artillery, mortars, tanks, aviation, and UAVs. Kherson, Antonivka, Stanislav, Sadove, Naddniprianske, Bilozerka, Komyshany, Shyroka Balka, Oleksandrivka, Poniativka, Molodizhne, Nezlamne, Veletenske, Beryslav, Tomarine, Novoberislav, Chervonyi Maiak, Zamožne, Rakivka, and Novoraisk were affected. Enemy attacks damaged 61 objects, including 42 private houses, six apartment buildings, a critical infrastructure facility, two schools, a kindergarten, four vehicles, gas pipelines, two garages, and a utility building. As a result of the shelling, two people were killed, and 17 were injured.
Later, Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that a 71-year-old local man injured by a russian drone strike in Antonivka sought medical help. He suffered an explosive trauma and shrapnel wounds to the head and shoulder.

It is reported that russian forces carried out three assaults on Prydniprovske front over the past day. Enemy losses amounted to 66 personnel, two Buk-M surface-to-air missile systems, a launcher-reloader, a ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun, four artillery systems, one anti-tank grenade launcher, eight vehicles, nine reconnaissance UAVs (Zala, Supercam, and Orlan-10), one quad bike, three motorcycles, one buggy, one boat, five UAV control antennas, nine communication antennas, five Starlink satellite terminals, two electronic warfare systems, and two generators. Three observation sites, personnel shelters, and a material storage facility were also struck.
As part of Kherson Regional Administration’s cooperation with the USAID UCBI-4 project, 11 communities in Kherson oblast received 118 charging stations. These devices will ensure the stable operation of social infrastructure, including hospitals, administrative service centers, schools, and other institutions.
Additionally, social workers in Kherson oblast received 40 bicycles from benefactors. The transport will be used by staff providing social and medical services, improving their mobility and enhancing targeted support for vulnerable populations.

Zakarpattia oblast
The RMA held a meeting with Oleksii Mihryn, Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. They discussed the fact that the State Emergency Service plans to conduct additional training for its employees, improve the response system, and improve the logistical support of units in order to act quickly and efficiently in the event of emergency situations of various nature.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The RMA reported that last year, 299 employers in Ivano-Frankivsk region received compensation for the costs of employing 403 IDPs.
Lviv oblast
Lviv Recruiting Center of the Ukrainian Army has processed 5,000 applications since its establishment. Almost 300 volunteers are already serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces. 10% of them are women.
Volodymyr Mykhailiuk, machine gunner in the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstislav the Brave, from Strii region, was awarded with the Golden Cross award. The award was presented to Hero’s mother. Volodymyr Mykhailiuk was killed on 19 May, 2024 while performing a combat mission near the village of Nevske, Luhansk oblast.
Rivne oblast

Ternopil oblast
In Ternopil, on the facade of the Economic Lyceum №9 named after Ivanna Blazhkevych, a memorial plaque will be installed to Ihor Irza, fallen soldier of the Anti-Tank Division of the 44th Separate Artillery Brigade. Ihor Irza after receiving severe burns as a result of enemy fire, he returned to the front and participated in battles in Bakhmut region. He was killed on 29 October, 2024 near the village of Basivka, Sumy oblast.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
In the morning, during an air alarm signal, the Air Defense Forces shot down 1 unmanned aerial vehicle of the Shahed type. There were no injuries, deaths or property damage.
Chernivtsi oblast
Mandrotherapy (travel therapy) for defenders continues. This time, military personnel who are undergoing rehabilitation in Bukovina went on an excursion on a retro train. They traveled by steam locomotive on an excursion route from Chernivtsi to Luzhan, and then continued their conversation over dinner. It should be noted that the Mandrotherapy project was launched last year.
