What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that emergency repair work is continuing in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv following the russian attack on 6 June. As of 8 June, 18 people injured in the attack remain hospitalised, six of them in serious condition. Three more people were killed.

The KCMA reported that funds have been allocated for the completion of 23 new bomb shelters in educational institutions in Kyiv by 2025. Work began in 2024 for 37 educational institutions that did not have bomb shelters. Currently, the design and estimate documentation for 36 objects has been completed, and contracts for construction and installation works have been signed for 27 of them. Construction is ongoing at 23 locations. Work has been completed at three objects.
The Kyiv City Military Administration announced that a recruitment centre for the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigade has opened in Kyiv. It employs defenders with considerable combat experience, including those who were wounded while defending our country. This is the brigade’s second recruitment centre, the first one was previously established in Lviv.
The head of Kyiv Regional State Administration, Mykola Kalashnik, reported that at the III International Summit of Cities and Regions ‘United for Peace,’ five key cooperation agreements were signed with France, Germany, Belgium, Romania, and Lithuania.
The Pashkiv Lyceum has completed the construction of a modern shelter with the support of the IOM.
An exhibition by artists from Sloviansk entitled ‘On the Brink’ has opened in Bucha. It is an artistic reflection on the military tragedy in Sloviansk, and is on display at the Bucha Community Public Library. More than ten artists and sculptors have presented works about loss, memory and the strength of the community. The exhibition includes paintings, graphics, and ceramics. Each work has a QR code that leads to the place where the events took place.
The Docudays UA human rights documentary film festival has started in Kyiv. This year’s festival programme includes 12 film programmes, featuring 71 films from 38 countries around the world.
Zhytomyr oblast
The State Emergency Service reported that during the night, a building on the territory of one of the private civilian enterprises was damaged as a result of a russian attack. The fire was quickly extinguished by rescuers. There were no casualties or injured ones.
Sumy oblast
In the morning at 8:40am, the enemy carried out strikes on Esman community using multiple rocket launcher systems and FPV-drones. As a result of the attack, a 60-year-old man was injured. Residential houses of peaceful residents caught fire.
Throughout the day, from the morning of 7 June to the morning of 8 June, russian forces carried out more than 80 attacks on 27 settlements across 12 territorial communities in the oblast. The highest number of strikes were recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (nearly 10 strikes), multiple rocket launcher systems (nearly 30 strikes), and UAV-dropped explosives (more than 20 strikes). Additionally, the enemy conducted FPV-drone strikes on Sumy oblast.
The Regional Military Administration reported that over the past day, enemy strikes damaged civilian infrastructure in Hlukhiv and Mykolaiv communities.
Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organisations from border communities, evacuated 24 people.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that throughout 7 June, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Semenivka, Snovsk, and Horodnia. The enemy used FPV-drones (including those with incendiary mixtures), ‘Molniya’-type UAVs, and dropped explosive devices from drones. Additionally, they fired mortars and barrel artillery. A total of 49 strikes were recorded.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
From evening until morning, the occupants continued to shell Nikopol district. This was reported by Mykola Lukashuk, the head of the DPR. “They launched drones and fired from artillery and Grad multiple rocket launchers. The district center and Marhanets community were targeted.
In Nikopol, an enterprise, 4 private houses, 3 outbuildings, a gazebo and power lines were damaged. The occupants hit Mezhivska community of Sinelnykivskyi district with an unmanned aerial vehicle. A man was killed.
More than a dozen attacks were carried out by the enemy throughout the day in Nikopol district. They launched drones and fired from artillery. A 42-year-old man was wounded in Nikopol during the day. He was hospitalized in serious condition.
In the late afternoon, another person was injured by an enemy drone strike. In general, the occupants were shooting at the district center, Pokrovska and Marhanetska communities. A fire broke out and an outbuilding was destroyed. A private house, a utility room and a shed were damaged. Six cars and 35 solar panels were damaged.
The occupants attacked Mezhivska community of Synelnykivskyi district with a drone. A private house was damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
Border guard Vladyslav Denysiuk, who had been in Russian captivity for 19 months, was met in Vinnytsia region. The defender was exchanged on May 6, 2025, after which he underwent treatment and rehabilitation.
Poltava oblast
A soldier from the Lokhvytsia community, Oleksandr Riznyk, was killed during a Russian assault on Ukrainian positions near Vuhledar in Donetsk Oblast. The soldier was 31 years old. The man was considered missing.
Cherkasy oblast
Almost one and a half hundred people came to the action “Don’t be silent – captivity kills” in Cherkasy to support prisoners of war and missing persons.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the Institute for the Study of War, the russian military continues to attack Ukrainian Defence Forces positions along Orikhiv region, but no changes to the front line have been recorded.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that a 63-year-old man was injured in a drone attack in Prymorske village, where russian forces struck a private residence, which was destroyed by fire.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 7 June, Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 5 russian assaults, including enemy attempts to advance near Malynivka and toward Novoandriivka.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 7 June, russian troops carried out 555 attacks on 16 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. These included 320 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV drones) targeting Bilenke, Yurivka, Lobkove, Kamianske, Prymorske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne and Novodarivka.
According to the National Resistance Centre, in temporarily occupied Melitopol, russian occupiers are distributing bottled drinking water only to individuals who hold russian passports. In Aviahorodok region, water supplies were delivered but distribution was limited to so-called russian citizens.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to the RMA, on the morning of 8 June, Kostiantynivka community came under cruise missiles and Shahed drones attack. Agricultural equipment warehouses were damaged and a fire broke out. There were no injuries reported.
During the night of 8 June, air defence forces in Mykolaiv oblast shot down 11 Shahed drones.
On 7 June, the russian military pattacked Kutsurub community by FPV drones. A house in Dniprovske village and a vehicle in Dmytrivka were damaged. There were no casualties reported.
The water area and shoreline of Ochakiv community were targeted by FPV drones. In particular, the water area came under mortar attack. There were no injuries reported.

Odesa oblast
According to the Operational Command South, at night, russian forces attacked Odesa oblast by an Oniks anti-ship missile.
Kherson oblast
According to Head of the City Military Administration, in Kherson, a russian shelling damaged a building of an educational institution, damaging the facade, roof, drainage system, interior rooms and windows. There were no casualties reported.
Around 1pm, russian forces shelled Kherson again, damaging a medical facility. There were no casualties or injuries reported.
According to the RMA, in Antonivka, a suburb of Kherson, a 67-year-old woman was wounded in a morning shelling and hospitalised with a blast injury and shrapnel wound to the head.
A 76-year-old man was injured in a drone attack in Antonivka and was hospitalised.
According to the State Emergency Service, emergency workers extinguished 6 fires caused by russian shelling in Kherson oblast. Residential buildings and balconies of a large apartment building were on fire. Due to a drone attack, the roof of a non-residential building fell down.
Referring to the RMA, around 7:30am, a drone attack in Antonivka injured a 42-year-old man, who was hospitalised.
A 40-year-old man was also injured in another drone strike in Antonivka and taken to the hospital. In Stanislav, a woman was wounded in a drone attack and another woman injured due to shelling in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson.
Police reported that the officers evacuated a 55-year-old woman from Beryslav, Kherson oblast, under the threat of a drone strike, transporting her to a safer location.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson RMA, said that on 7 June, russian forces shelled 34 settlements in Kherson oblast. 1 person was killed and 9 injured. Damage was reported to 3 apartment buildings, 9 private houses, a gas pipeline and several vehicles.
In temporarily occupied territories of Kherson oblast, russian occupation authorities held mourning events marking the 2nd anniversary of Kakhovka dam explosion. According to the National Resistance Centre, the main goal of these events is to shift blame for the destruction and humanitarian catastrophe onto Ukraine. The Centre notes that russia uses everything as a weapon — even Kakhovka dam they themselves destroyed.

Volyn oblast
As a result of the latest russian attack on Lutsk, the premises and warehouses of the Dobra Sprava CF were damaged. From 9 to 13 June, the fund will not be able to operate and upload.
Zakarpattia oblast
Uzhhorod City Council reported that the III degree For Courage Order was awarded to Junior Sergeant Serhii Dynko, a senior rifleman-operator of the mountain assault detachment.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

A solemn graduation ceremony was held at Lviv Lyceum of Enhanced Military and Physical Training named after Heroes Krut. This year, 129 lyceum students from 16 oblast of Ukraine graduated from the institution. In addition to complete general secondary education, graduates gained knowledge of military affairs: fire, combat, engineering and sapper training, topography, knowledge of the statutes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For the first time among educational institutions in Ukraine, the basics of drone control, geographic information systems, and tactical medicine are taught here.
The RMA reported that Rava-Ruska City Council sent 20 Ecoflow delta 2 max charging stations to the 68th Separate Oleksa Dovbush Ranger Brigade.
Rivne oblast
Sarn Mayor Ruslan Serpeninov is in the US on a working visit. He was invited as part of the International Leadership Program (IVLP), which has been run and funded by the US Department of State since 1940.
Ternopil oblast
Since the beginning of the war, defenders and their families have received various social support from Ternopil. Defenders with disabilities of I and II groups, as well as family members of deceased and missing servicemen, have been provided with material assistance in the amount of over UAH 5m.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
One of the military units based in Khmelnytskyi community received 30 13-inch fiber-optic FPV drones worth over UAH 1.5m.
Chernivtsi oblast
In Bukovina, veterans with prosthetic limbs climbed one of the natural monuments of Bukovina – Sokoline Oko. Participants of the hike, among whom were veterans with prosthetic limbs, courageously completed a 15-meter mountain climb. They were helped to overcome the route with elements of climbing by the mountain rescuers of Bukovina. The hike was not only a physical test, but also a source of psychological support for the military undergoing rehabilitation.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Canada provides new military assistance to Ukraine for about $25.5m. The content of the new military assistance package: $21.9m for Coyote and Bison armored vehicles, as well as new equipment and ammunition from Canadian manufacturers (this is in addition to the previous transfer of 64 Coyote units that arrived in Ukraine in December 2024) and $3.6m for Canadian-made electronic warfare equipment.
