Russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
A total of 94 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of the day.
The border settlements suffered from cynical shelling from the territory of the russian Federation, in particular: Bratenytsia, Prokhody, Velykyi Prykil in Sumy oblast; Uhrody, Turia, Pokrovka, Miropilske, Dmytrivka, Mala Rybytsia in Sumy oblast were hit by guided aerial bombs.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy carried out two assault operations near Stepova Novoselivka and Zahryzove. The firefight is currently ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked eight times near the settlements of Hrekivka, Katerynivka and Kolodiazi. Five firefights are still ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders repelled three attempts by the occupiers to advance in the areas of Vasiukivka, Chasiv Yar and Kurdiumivka.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked 14 times near Ozarianivka, Toretsk and Leonidivka. Fighting is currently ongoing in three locations.
Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers have made 42 attempts since the beginning of the day to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Kalynove, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Shevchenko, Zvirove, Udachne, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Kotliarivka, Bohdanivka and Andriivka. The defence forces are holding back the enemy’s offensive and repelled 32 attacks, ten firefights are still ongoing.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy attacked seven times near the settlements of Kostiantynopil, Rozlyv, Dniproenerhiia and Burlatske. Five firefights are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy made one unsuccessful attack in the direction of Vilne Pole. In addition, the enemy launched air strikes on Huliaypole with unguided missiles, and also attacked Voskresenka, Maliivka and Sichneve with guided bombs.
Towards Orikhiv, our defenders repelled two enemy attacks near Stepove, and another firefight is ongoing.
Towards Kherson, the enemy launched an air strike on the village of Kozatske.
In Kharkiv, Siversk and Kherson sectors, the enemy did not conduct any active offensive actions.
In Kursk oblast, Ukrainian defenders repelled two russian attacks, and eight more clashes are still ongoing. Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has carried out four air strikes, dropped a total of five guided aerial bombs on our troops’ positions and settlements, and fired 126 artillery rounds, including three from multiple launch rocket systems.
There were no significant changes in the situation in other frontline areas.
The Ministry of Defence reported that they have codified the domestically produced Liut ground robotic system. It is designed for surveillance and fire support, armed with a 7.62-calibre machine gun and additional equipment to detect and engage targets day and night. The battery capacity is sufficient for a long operating time. At the same time, the operator controls the system from a protected position without being in danger.
The occupiers stole 164 artefacts from Crimea. The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has published a list of russian museum workers involved in this. Intelligence officers collected data on 14 russian organisers of exhibitions and propaganda events that facilitate the theft of Ukrainian cultural property in the TOT of Ukraine. The fact of illegal export of 164 archaeological artefacts from the occupied Crimea was confirmed. They were found during the excavations of the ancient cities of Nymphaeum and Pantikapaeum.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
There were four enemy attacks towards Kupiansk yesterday. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults towards Pishchane, near Kruhliakivka and Zahryzove.
Vadym Kushnikov, a journalist for the Militarny portal, reported that since February 2025, the russian army has been attacking Kharkiv with drones in a new way. Russian drones gather outside the city and then attack targets in the city in groups of 10-15 UAVs. To do this, they have changed the usual sites and are launching drones closer to the northeastern border of Ukraine.
Attacks
8 April
A 64-year-old man was injured in Vovchansk as a result of an explosive drop from an enemy drone. He was taken to a medical facility in critical condition.
7 April
At 6:28am, a residential building was destroyed by shelling in Tokarivka Druha village. One man died, two women were wounded.
At 11:24am, as a result of shelling, probably from an MLRS, grass caught fire over an area of 1.5 hectares in Pisky-Radkivski.
At 4:30pm, three people were injured in Bilyi Kolodiaz as a result of an FPV drone hit.
At 5:51pm, two guided aerial munitions hit the outskirts of Udy village, and two more – the outskirts of Baranivka village.
At 5:54pm, an explosion occurred on the ground as a result of a shelling by an unidentified aerial vehicle in Slatyne. Two private houses and a garage were damaged.
Oleh Syniehuboc, Head of the RMA, reported that around 11pm, the russian Federation struck Babai near Kharkiv. People were not injured. Information about the damage is being clarified, and specialised services have arrived at the scene.
At 11:18pm, the russian army struck an inactive recreation centre with an Iskander-M ballistic missile in Vysokyi village. Three people suffered acute stress reactions as a result of the hit to the 4-storey building.
Other
The press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that the assassination of Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, and Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi CMA, was prevented in Kharkiv. According to investigators, the killer from Belgorod, who was supposed to carry out these attacks, managed to shoot a Ukrainian soldier and arrange a series of explosions and arsons in Kharkiv.
Donetsk oblast
Frontline
The General Staff said that over fifty attacks towards Pokrovsk and more than 20 attacks in the Toretsk sector were repelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the last day.
In particular, towards Toretsk, russian troops carried out 23 attacks near Dachne, Shcherbynivka, Ozarianivka and Toretsk.
Towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian defenders stopped 52 attacks in the areas of Kalynove, Lysivka, Oleksandropil, Tarasivka, Yelyzavetivka, Udachne, Uspenivka, Preobrazhenka, Andriivka, Kotlyne, as well as in the directions of Kotliarivka, Malynivka and Serhiivka.
Towards Lyman, russian troops are trying to amass forces, bringing in equipment and drone crews, said Serhiy Lytovchenko, 3rd category sergeant of the communications department of the 115th Separate Mechanised Brigade.
Towards Pokrovsk, the russian military is putting pressure using all available means, including a large number of manpower and sometimes equipment. Drones, both reconnaissance and strike drones, fibre-optic drones, etc. prevail on the battlefield,” said Pavlo Hvozdenko, deputy commander of the separate detachment of Taifun unmanned special purpose systems of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Attacks
Yesterday the police recorded 3,348 enemy attacks on the frontline and residential areas. The russians attacked 11 settlements: Bilozerske, Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Rodynske, Siversk, Hryshyne, Zirka, Zorya, Novodmytrivka and Piddubne. 61 civilian objects were destroyed, including 48 residential buildings.

Russians struck Kostiantynivka with 7 shells, 6 of which were bombs, killing a civilian and wounding two others, including a girl born in 2015. 11 private houses, a shop, an educational institution, a business and an agricultural facility were damaged.
One person was killed in Hryshyne, a private house was damaged.
A five-storey residential building was destroyed by a FAB-250 bomb in Pokrovsk. An enemy Molniya-2 UAV damaged a private house in Rodynske.
Two attack Geranium-2 UAVs attacked Dobropillia – 2 apartment buildings, a shop, and two civilian cars were damaged. In Bilozerske, a drone attack damaged 7 private houses and 2 cars.
In Siversk, the enemy damaged 2 apartment buildings with two UAVs.
The occupiers dropped three FAB-250 bombs on Novodmytrivka of Kostiantynivka community, damaging 9 private houses. In Zoria of Illinivka community, a russian bomb damaged 3 apartment buildings and 5 private houses.
Russian troops hit Komar community with two UMPB D-30SN bombs: 5 private houses were damaged in Zirka, and 1 house in Piddubne.

Luhansk oblast
Yesterday russians focused on Lyman axis. According to the RMA, they attacked near Nadiia and Hrekivka. Their actions were supported by cannon and rocket artillery. In total, the occupiers fired 22 times from various types of artillery systems. Of these, twice from multiple launch rocket systems. 144 enemy unmanned aerial vehicles attempted to carry out missions in our sector.
Due to the closure of three bridges in one of Luhansk’s districts, the city suffered a transport collapse. Infrastructure facilities are in a state of disrepair and need major repairs, which the russians have not even intended to do for almost 11 years of occupation. They did it to the last minute. Following a public outcry, the work has begun and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Detour routes have been arranged, but there are also overpasses on these sections, which are restricted. To reduce traffic congestion, they promise to install a pontoon bridge. Traffic will be reversed there in turn.
Residents of Lysychansk have been without drinking water for over 2.5 years. Recently, the water supply system was hastily repaired in some areas, but in many places hydraulic tests revealed many gusts. The invaders have not supplied either drinking or industrial water.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The heads of the Belgian government, foreign ministry and defence ministry arrived in Kyiv on an official visit. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Belgium Bart de Wever paid tribute to the soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine at the Wall of Remembrance in Kyiv. The Belgian delegation also visited Bucha, in particular the Church of St Andrew the First-Called, where the mass grave of civilians killed by russians is located.
In Kyiv, rescuers from the State Emergency Service have completed emergency repair work at the site of a rocket attack on a business centre in Obolonskyi district on 6 April. The work was still ongoing in the morning. According to the SES, as of 12pm, more than 190 cubic metres of building structures and debris had been removed.

De-mining and explosive ordnance disposal works continue in the oblast. On 8 April, sappers of the State Emergency Service were working in two regions – Vyshhorod and Boryspil. Kyiv Regional Military Administration calls on residents of the oblast and the outskirts of the capital to remain calm and be cautious.
Kyiv Regional Veterans Council is being established. Mykola Kalashnik, Head of the Regional Military Administration, informed that consultations with all stakeholders are underway. According to him, the regional council of veterans should become not a formal body, but a living, effective tool that actually helps war veterans.
Zhytomyr oblast
The State Emergency Service of Zhytomyr oblast reported that Zhytomyr rescuers helped their colleagues in Kyiv to eliminate the consequences of enemy shelling. Specialists of the emergency rescue unit were working on dismantling the rubble, dismantling emergency slabs and clearing the floors of the building from the remains of concrete structures.

33 communities were selected on a competitive basis to participate in the project “Psychological Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation in Zhytomyr oblast. Implementation of the PRO_MentalHealth model at the local level: psychosocial support for veterans and war-affected people”.
A tournament in memory of fallen soldiers, karate athletes Volodymyr Rudiuk, Pavlo Shevchuk and Denys Denysiuk started in Zhytomyr at the Dynamo sports complex on 6 April.
Sumy oblast
Sumy Regional Police reported that on 8 April, russian forces struck the border town Krasnopillia by a guided aerial bomb. The strike destroyed a dormitory of an educational institution and damaged 30 private houses. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
The State Emergency Service informed that during a strike on the border area, russian aviation damaged a fire and rescue unit in Krasnopillia community. At the time of the shelling, the rescuers were in shelter.

According to the Regional Military Administration, as a result of shelling in Velyka Pysarivka community, a private house was damaged. The enemy struck the community by an FPV-drone and dropped two VOG grenades from UAVs.
During the night and morning, russian forces carried out 18 attacks of border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast. A total of 35 explosions were recorded. Yunakivka, Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, and Shalyhyne communities came under fire.
Throughout 7 April, russian forces carried out 62 attacks in Sumy oblast, with a total of 147 strikes recorded. The enemy used mortars (62 explosions), MLRS (9 explosions), artillery (30 explosions), FPV-drones (14 explosions), launched guided aerial bombs (23 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (9 explosions). Seven communities came under enemy fire: Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, and Shalyhyne.
In one of the communities in Sumy oblast, a 13-year-old boy was injured by a landmine. He was walking with his friend near a ravine and kicked an unknown object, which then exploded. The child’s condition is critical but stable, and doctors are fighting for his life.
On 7 April Ihor Smilianskyi, director of Ukrposhta, reported that due to a drone attack, a modular Ukrposhta branch in Sumy oblast, which had been installed to replace a previously destroyed one, was destroyed.
Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister announced that philanthropist Howard Buffett plans to build a bomb shelter for a school in the border area of Sumy oblast. He made this decision after visiting Sumy oblast and meeting with students at one of the schools.
Chernihiv oblast
Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that on 7 April, russian forces attacked two border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy carried out strikes using FPV-drones (2 explosions) and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (10 explosions). Six villages came under enemy fire.
Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernihiv oblast informed that law enforcement officers have identified two russian servicemen who, in early March 2022, during the temporary occupation of Yahidne, unlawfully detained, tortured, and subsequently executed two civilians in a basement. It was established that these russian soldiers are residents of the Republic of Tuva, aged 30 and 33, and serve in one of the motorized rifle brigades. Both have been charged in absentia with committing war crimes.
According to the Regional Military Administration, forty-six veterans and families of fallen defenders in Chernihiv oblast have purchased housing thanks to a state program. In 2024, Chernihiv oblast received nearly UAH 152m. for these needs.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
From late evening, air defence forces were active in the oblast. The military of the Air Command East shot down 8 enemy UAVs.
There were loud explosions in Samarskyi district — infrastructure, 6 apartment buildings and a store were damaged. From evening until morning, the enemy carried out nearly 15 strikes by artillery and drones on Nikopol region, targeting the regional centre, Pokrov and Marhanets communities. Administrative buildings, a private house, a business and a bus were damaged. Mezhova community in Synelnykove region came under enemy attack. 2 private houses and a utility building were damaged.
During the day, the enemy attacked two regions — Nikopol and Synelnykove. In Nikopol region, the occupiers used artillery and drones to target the regional centre. 2 men, aged 36 and 43, were injured; they will receive treatment at home. 4 private houses, 2 utility buildings, garages, vehicles, power lines and a café were damaged. The enemy shelled Velyka Mykhailivka community in Synelnykove region by artillery. A private house, a car and a power line were damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
Mayor Serhii Morhunov announce that Vinnytsia oblast has reinforced the training base of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The support included a special-purpose vehicle, 20 rifles and 10 pistols. The vehicle, intended for personnel transport, has a capacity of 33 people. The modern weaponry will be used for firearms and tactical training to ensure that cadets’ education aligns with current realities. This is not the first time the community has supported the university. After the full-scale invasion, the institution was relocated to Vinnytsia. The local community helped with its adaptation and continues to provide systematic support for its development.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, people paid tribute to 21-year-old volunteer soldier Illia Medvediev. While performing a combat mission near Orlivka village in Donetsk oblast, he came under heavy russian artillery attack. Since 13 March 2024, he had been listed as missing in action. His death was confirmed through DNA analysis.
Poltava oblast
In Poltava, a memorial ceremony was held for soldier Viacheslav Pedchenko. He died on 29 March 2025, from acute cardiovascular failure in a hospital in Dnipro. He was 31 years old.
A soldier from Poltava oblast, Artem, received the Military Honour Cross from Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He stopped the offensive of russian forces in kursk oblast. His surname was withheld at his request. He commands a UAV company within a battalion of the 95th Separate Air Assault Polissia Brigade. Before the war, he worked as a restaurant network manager.
A 19-year-old soldier from Cherkasy oblast, DaniiI Nikolaiev, was awarded the Knight’s Cross by the Ministry of Defence. This award is given to servicemen for exceptional bravery, heroism and leadership while performing combat missions under life-threatening conditions. During a mission, DaniiI lost both legs.
Fallen serviceman from Cherkasy, Kostiantyn Miroshnychenko, was posthumously awarded state honours. The Order For Courage III class and the Combatant’s Cross from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were presented to his wife Oleksandra and his parents by Andrii Biletskyi, Commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade.
Cherkasy oblast
Cherkasy paid tribute to 30-year-old fallen defender Dmytro Kaluhin. He was killed on 24 March while carrying out a combat mission in Kherson oblast.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that a 60-year-old man was injured as a result of shelling in Malynivka village.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 8 April, the Defence Forces repelled 3 russian attacks in Huliaipole and Orikhiv regions. The russian forces carried out airstrikes by unguided rockets on Huliaipole and used guided aerial bombs against Voskresenka, Maliivka and Sichneve.
On 7 April, the Defence Forces repelled 8 russian attacks in Orikhiv region. Clashes took place near the settlements of Stepove, Shcherbaky and Mali Shcherbaky.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that on 7 April, the russian military conducted 582 attacks on 7 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. A total of 373 UAVs of various types were used to attack Kamianske, Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novodarivka and Charivne.
According to the CMA, a propaganda meeting involving religious figures and local youth was held in temporarily occupied Berdiansk. Religious holidays are used by the occupiers as a tool to influence young people, in particular, to impose pro-russian propaganda.
Mykolaiv oblast
Referring to the Regional Military Administration, on 7 April, no shelling was recorded in Mykolaiv oblast.
Odesa oblast
According to the Air Force, during the day, a reconnaissance UAV was spotted over the Black Sea heading toward Odesa blast. Air defence measures were deployed to neutralise it.
Kherson oblast
Based on the information provided by the russian forces attacked a civilian car by a drone in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. A 76-year-old man sustained blast injuries, along with wounds to his abdomen, shoulder, and thigh.
Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, said that an explosive device was dropped from a russian UAV in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, injuring an 85-year-old man.
Yesterday evening, a drone attack on Dniprovskyi district of Kherson injured a 66-year-old man. He suffered blast trauma and shrapnel wounds and was hospitalised.
Another man wounded in yesterday’s shelling of Dniprovskyi district was hospitalised. The 61-year-old suffered blast trauma and a closed leg fracture.
According to the RMA, a 64-year-old woman from Bilozirka was injured by a russian drone strike yesterday. She was hospitalised with blast trauma and a concussion.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 7 April, the russian military shelled 31 settlements in Kherson oblast. 8 people were injured, including a child. Damaged sites include an agricultural enterprise, a farm, gas pipelines, 3 apartment buildings, 11 private houses, a garage and a vehicle.

Volyn oblast
The RMA reported that in Volyn, sappers of the State Emergency Service destroyed 60 artillery shells from the 2nd World War, discovered in Kovel region.
Zakarpattia oblast
A new automobile checkpoint Velyka Palad – Nadhodosh has opened in the oblast. It is designed for passenger cars weighing up to 3.5 tonnes and will operate during the day (from 7am to 6pm).
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
As part of the Caring for the Hero’s Family project, an excursion trip was organized for children from the families of deceased servicemen. 28 children from Verkhovyna region visited a science and entertainment institution in the village of Polianytsia.
Lviv oblast
Vasyl Laganiak, defender from Drohobych region, was awarded with the Cross of Missile Troops and Artillery Order by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine (posthumously). He was killed on 28 October 2024 while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Rozdolne, Donetsk oblast.
The RMA reported that parishioners of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the city of Strii raised UAH 34,120 for walkie-talkies for soldiers of the 65th Brigade.
Vasyl Borys, Grenade Launcher of the 125th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, from Strii region was awarded with the Defender of Ukraine. For honor! For glory! For the people! medal.
Rivne oblast
The RMA reported that almost UAH 15m in taxes were transferred to budgets of all levels last year by enterprises relocated to Rivne oblast. There are 29 of them in the oblast.
Ternopil oblast
The Vice Mayor of Ronneby (Sweden), Roger Fredriksson, visited Ternopil. During the meeting, he handed over humanitarian aid to the community residents.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community sent 23 DJI MAVIC 3 quadcopters worth UAH 1,5m to the Defense Forces.
Chernivtsi oblast
Brusnytsia community and Tupychiv community, Chernihiv oblast, signed a cooperation agreement within the framework of the Side by Side: United Communities national project. The Memorandum defines key areas of further cooperation and mutual support.
The Race of the Brave charity was held in Chernivtsi, which brought together hundreds of participants in support of the fighters of the 93rd Separate Territorial Defense Battalion Combat Hutsuls. The participants raised UAH 78,606, which will be used for the needs and rehabilitation of defenders.
In the 1st 3 months of 2025, almost UAH 100m was allocated from the regional and local budgets of Chernivtsi oblast for the needs of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine, families of servicemen, and internally displaced persons. UAH 61.4m was allocated to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other formations of the Security and Defense Forces, of which almost UAH 19m was allocated from the regional budget.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The largest humanitarian convoy from the UK in three years is heading to Ukraine. The 8th humanitarian convoy is organized by Fire AID UK, the National Fire Chiefs Council with the support of the British government and the Home Office. The convoy includes 30 units of fire and rescue equipment and over 15,000 units of specialized equipment.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Bart de Wever, Belgian Prime Minister. They discussed support for Ukraine.
On Sunday, Ukrainians held a silent action of mourning in the center of Valencia, Children We Didn’t Have Time to Protect. They remembered the children who died on 4 April in Kryvyi Rih due to a russian missile.
