Russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. In return, the Ukrainian Defence Forces inflict significant losses in manpower and equipment.
The border settlements of Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts continue to suffer from cynical shelling from the territory of the russian federation. Artillery and mortar fire hit the areas of Oleksandrivka and Maiske. In addition, the russians carried out six air strikes, using seven UAVs in the areas of Andriivka, Obody, Katerynivka, Yastrubyne, Pavlivka. In addition, the army of the russian occupiers continues to drop bombs on Kursk oblast, with 11 air strikes involving 16 guided aerial bombs currently reported.
Towards Kharkiv, the russians carried out five attacks near Starytsia and Vovchansk, where fighting is still ongoing.
Kucherivka and Novoosynove towards Kupiansk have been attacked three times since the beginning of the day, with one attack still ongoing. In addition, the occupiers launched an airstrike with guided bombs in the areas of Zelenyi Hai and Pershotravneve.
Towards Lyman, fourteen times the occupiers tried to push our defenders from their positions near Druzheliubivka, Nevske, Novosadove, Zarichne, Torske, Hryhorivka and Dibrova. Eleven battles were completed, three are ongoing.
Towards Kramatorsk, Defence forces repelled three enemy attacks near Bila Hora.
Towards Toretsk, Druzhba and Kostiantynivka were under airstrikes with guided bombs; in addition, the occupiers carried out eight attacks near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka, where the enemy’s offensive is still ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, there were ten enemy offensives, with russians storming the positions of our defenders near Myrnohrad, Lysivka, Krutyi Yar and Selydove.
Towards Kurakhive, the situation is tense, where the invaders attacked nine times near Novoselydivka, Hirnyk, Tsukuryno, Horoshne, Heorhiivka and Kostiantynivka. Two firefights are still ongoing.
Towards Vremivka, attack aircraft attacked Novodarivka and Poltavka, and the enemy conducted three assaults on our defenders’ defensive lines near Bohoiavlenka and Zolota Nyva.
Towards Khreson, two enemy attacks were repelled.
The situation in other frontline areas remained unchanged.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that russia used about 20 missiles, more than 800 guided bombs and almost 400 attack UAVs against Ukraine over the past week.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that a special unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine discovered and destroyed a russian anti-aircraft missile system, “Osa”. The cost of such an automated air defence system is $10m.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
In the morning, the russian military attacked a bus stop in Kupiansk with an FPV drone. Two men aged 68 and 40 sustained shrapnel wounds, the latter was taken to a hospital in Kharkiv.
Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported that a 57-year-old man in Stepy (formerly Pershotravneve) was killed when a russian FPV drone with a munition hit his car. The hit occurred at around 11:20am.
A man was killed in a drone strike on Borova on 6 October. Also, for the second time in a day, russians shelled Kupiansk with artillery and the village of Ivashky in Zolochiv community with mortars.
The shelling damaged a shop and a car.
Yesterday at 9:12pm, Bezruky-Slatyne highway was shelled. As a result of the shelling by the Shahed UAV, the grass was burning.
At 9pm, Novoosynove village of Kupiansk region was shelled. As a result of the shelling a private house caught fire.
At 3:43pm, Nyzhche Solone of Borova community was shelled. Three private houses and a garage were burning as a result of the shelling by an unmanned aerial vehicle. 87-year-old man was injured.
At 1:53pm, Kindrashivka of Kupiansk region was shelled. As a result of the shelling straw was burning.
At 1:25pm, Sobolivka of Kupiansk region was shelled. As a result of the shelling the leaf litter was burning.
At 12:48pm, Senkove village of Kupiansk region was shelled. The shelling caused the fire of grass and garbage on the area of 1,500 sq m.
At 12pm, Nyzhche Solone of Izium region was shelled. A 49-year-old man was killed as a result of the shelling of a Lancet UAV.
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy attempted six assaults near Lyptsi, Vovchansk and Starytsia.
Towards Kupiansk, there were 22 enemy attacks. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults near Lozova, Novoosynove, Kucherivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Hlushkivka and Kruhliakivka. The aggressor actively used aviation in this area.
Donetsk oblast
The 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade reported that russian troops have shot three unarmed Ukrainian soldiers at close range in Niu-York. Later, Azov fighters, together with the 49th Separate Assault Battalion, captured a russian occupier who told them about the shooting of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Niu-York. The brigade noted that during the interrogation, he spoke about “repeated killings of prisoners of war that his unit had committed and was committing”. Ombudsman Lubinets said he had appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN.
The General Staff said that the largest number of attacks was towards Pokrovsk and Kurakhove. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 107 attacks in the east over the last day.
Towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian troops repelled 30 attacks towards Novotoretske, Selydove, Krutyi Yar, Lysivka and Promin.
Towards Kurakhove, Ukrainian defence forces repelled 26 attacks towards Novoselydivka, Izmailivka, Horoshne, Maksymilianivka, Katerynivka and Antonivka. The occupiers were most actively trying to advance near Kostyantynivka and Tsukuryne.
The 79th Airmobile Brigade reported that Tavriisk paratroopers repelled a mechanised assault by russian troops near Kostiantynivka towards Kurakhove. In the battle, the Ukrainian Armed Forces burned two russian tanks and six armoured vehicles with infantry, another tank was disabled, 20 russian servicemen were killed and 25 wounded.
Volodymyr Proskunin, Deputy Head of Mykolaivka CMA, reported that in the morning of 6 October, Russian troops attacked Mykolaivka. Two explosions occurred in the town around 6am. No one was killed or injured in the shelling, but private and apartment buildings and other buildings were damaged.
At least 4 people were wounded as a result of the shelling of Bilenke in the Kramatorsk community. Among the wounded is 1 child, the victims were taken to hospital. The suburbs of Kramatorsk and the city itself came under fire this morning and afternoon. An enterprise and private houses were damaged.
1 person was killed and 2 wounded – these are the preliminary results of the strikes on Konstantinovka. This afternoon, Russians dropped three guided aerial bombs on the town. Two multi-storey buildings, an administrative building, a shop, a coffee shop, a bank, a post office and a power line were damaged.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that a fire and rescue unit was damaged as a result of the shelling of Kramatorsk on 6 October. The blast wave damaged the glazing of the building’s windows and the garage door. The personnel were not injured.
More than 10 apartment buildings and private houses, an ambulance station, an administrative building, the facades of Ukrposhta and PryvatBank, a shop, a cafe, a minibus, a railway track, and power lines were damaged in the city.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that three adults and a child were wounded in Bilenke near Kramatorsk as a result of russian shelling on the afternoon of 6 October. The wounded were taken to hospital. This is the second shelling of Kramatorsk community in one day.
He also noted that the кussian army dropped three guided aerial bombs on the town of Kostyantynivka on the afternoon of 6 October, killing one person and wounding two. According to him, two apartment buildings, an administrative building, a shop, cafes, a post office, and a power line were damaged.
Еhe Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office said that the russian army attacked a volunteer car with an FPV drone in Illinka village of Kurakhove community today, killing a 37-year-old man and injuring his colleague, 32. Three more men aged 22, 66 and 69 were wounded today in Chasiv Yar, Toretsk and Serebrianka village of Siversk community as a result of russian artillery strikes.
The State Emergency Service of Donetsk oblast reported that 8 fires were caused by shelling. 23 fires were extinguished by rescuers in Donetsk oblast yesterday. Last night at midnight, the russian army struck the village of Rozlyv in Volnovakha region, which set a private house on fire – rescuers extinguished the fire on the roof of the house. In Odradne village, Volnovakha region, rescuers extinguished a dry grass fire in an open area caused by shelling. The fire destroyed 5.5 hectares of dry grass. In total, firefighters extinguished 13 fires in open areas and one in the forest yesterday. The fire destroyed about 18 hectares of dry grass, garbage and 3 hectares of forest litter.
The operational situation in the oblast as of the morning of 6 October is as follows:
Volnovakha region. In Velyka Novosilka, 1 person was killed and 1 wounded.
Pokrovsk region. In Kurakhove community, private houses and multi-storey buildings in Hirnyk, private houses in Ostrivske and Kurakhivka were damaged; Kurakhove was shelled.
Kramatorsk region. In Mykolaivka, 15 private houses, an apartment building, 2 dormitories and an administrative building were damaged. In Novoolenivka of Illinivka community, 1 object was damaged. In Kostiantynivka, 5 people were injured, 26 multi-storey buildings, 6 power lines and 3 gas pipelines were damaged.
Bakhmut region. Two houses were damaged in Siversk and another one in Serebrianka. In Chasiv Yar community, 5 private houses and a multi-storey building were damaged. A person was killed and a house was damaged in Toretsk.
In total, the russians fired 21 times at the settlements of Donetsk oblast. 428 people were evacuated from the frontline, including 33 children.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, informed that yedterday russians killed 2 civilians: in Velyka Novosilka and Toretsk. Another 8 people in the oblast were wounded over the day.
Luhansk oblast
The russians were most active on the ground yesterday in and around Bilohorivka, where our defenders repelled nine enemy attacks. The enemy also tried to advance near Makiivka and Hrekivka. The occupiers fired at Balka Zhuravka from a multiple rocket launcher system. They also shelled the village with cannon artillery. They used 50 drones in the area.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, said that the invaders introduced another option of forced passportisation. Until 31 December 2025, people with disabilities living in the territory of the so-called “lpr” are forced to undergo a medical and social expert commission to confirm their previous diagnosis. Only citizens with a russian passport will be allowed to pass the commission. Anyone who fails to appear at the commission within the next year will be deprived of the relevant state benefits from 1 January 2026.
People’s guards are to appear on the streets of the occupied Luhansk oblast. Those wishing to join this movement with a Soviet flavour are already being recruited. Although the relevant law is to be approved by the end of the year. They will perform their duties on a voluntary basis.
Roman Vlasenko, Head of Sievierodonetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that the situation with heating in the towns of the district, except for Siverskodonetsk, will be difficult. The crisis situation is in Pryvillia, Novodruzhesk, Popasna; most of the residents of the region are in need of heating.
The occupied area is now home to 25% of the number of people who lived there before the full-scale invasion. This includes the russian military, their families and guest workers from russia.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the RMA, reported that the debris of the Shahed fell in six districts as a result of the night attack in Kyiv oblast. According to him, there were no hits to critical or residential infrastructure. No one was injured in the attack. The air alert lasted over 12 hours.
The KCMA said that current night attack on the capital lasted more than 5 hours. All russian UAVs that were detected in the airspace over Kyiv and on the outskirts of the city were neutralised by air defence forces and means.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Women’s Guard took part in the First All-Ukrainian Forum NatsSprotiv 2024, which took place in Kyiv on 3 October. The forum was organised by Kyiv Regional Centre for Preparing the Population for National Resistance. The forum discussed the reintegration and employment of veterans through their involvement in national resistance centres. A step-by-step plan for opening a civilian training centre for national resistance was presented at the forum. More than 500 participants joined the forum.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of KRMA, and Eugenio Giani, governor of the Tuscany region, agreed that Kyiv Regional Children’s Hospital in Boiarka and the Italian Meyer Children’s Hospital in Florence would sign a cooperation agreement. In the spring, Kyiv oblast and Tuscany signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and are already filling it with concrete measures to help Kyiv residents receive quality medical services in times of war.
A peaceful rally “Women of TRO” was held on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv to mark the Day of Territorial Defence of Ukraine. More than a hundred representatives of the families of the fallen, missing and captured soldiers of the territorial defence from more than 20 brigades attended the rally.
The RMA reported that typical preparation for the heating season in Kyiv oblast reaches 96%.
Petro Olenych, Head of Digital Transformation and Deputy Head of Kyiv City Military Administration, announced that Kyiv Digital app received a prestigious award at the New Mobility Congress in Poland. During the CEE Smart Cities Mobility Index award ceremony, Kyiv Digital received an award in the CEE Tech and Data-led Mobility Solution nomination.
Zhytomyr oblast
Zhytomyrvodokanal reported that in case of blackouts, several scenarios have been developed to provide the city with water. In the case of a power outage at some water and sewage pumping stations, the pumping units will be connected to power sources. In the case of a complete blackout, the water utility’s facilities will be powered by generators and water will be supplied according to the schedule. In case the generators do not work for various reasons, water will be delivered by tankers according to published schedules.
Zhytomyr oblast presented a successful model of Coordination Councils at the All-Ukrainian Forum “Ukrainian Identity” held in Dnipro. A representative of Zviahel District Military Administration presented a successful case of the establishment and operation of Coordination Councils for the promotion of Ukrainian national and community identity in the Zviahel region.
4 participants from Zhytomyr oblast received driving licences of categories C and D under the OnTrack and BusDrive programmes. Free training for bus and truck drivers was provided as part of the Reskilling Ukraine project. A total of 228 Ukrainian women were trained.
Sumy oblast
According to Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, on 5 October, at approximately 3:30pm, russian military forces attacked a passenger bus in Richky community of Sumy region using a drone. Three passengers were injured in the attack: a 65-year-old man and two women, aged 54 and 63.
During night and morning, russians carried out 8 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 10 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka communities. As a result of the strikes, five civilians were injured. Additionally, significant damage was reported, including two apartment buildings, six households, 13 private homes, a passenger bus, a communications facility, a beauty salon, two garages, and a vehicle.
During the day, russians carried out 61 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 108 explosions. The attacks targeted Mykolaivka, Khotin, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Richky, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Shalyhyne, Esman, Svesa, Seredyna-Buda communities.

Chernihiv oblast
On 5 October, the russian army attacked Hremiach in Novhorod-Siverskyi community, located near Chernihiv oblast border. According to Halyna Shekhovtsova, the spokesperson for Chernihiv Border Guard Unit, border guards recorded four explosions, likely caused by explosive devices dropped from drones on the outskirts of the village.
Chernihiv Regional Military Commissariat reported that on 6 October, Chernihiv said goodbye to two Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, Volodymyr Levchenko and Oleksandr Naiko.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that last night the enemy shelled Sinelnykivka district with multiple rocket launchers. Two people were injured, a man of 56 and a woman of 50. 3 private houses, 2 cars and a tractor were damaged. Also in the evening of 5 October and at night, the occupiers attacked Nikopol region several times with artillery and kamikaze drones. They targeted the region centre, Pokrov and Myrove communities.
The enemy attacked Sinelnykivka district with MLRS. Three people were injured. A man and a woman sustained shrapnel injuries. They were hospitalised. Also, a 45-year-old man was injured by a UAV hit while harvesting crops in a field.
Four houses, a car, a garage, a tractor trailer, and a gas pipeline were damaged. Several fires broke out. More than two dozen attacks in Nikopol region. Today, the occupiers shelled the area with artillery, kamikaze drones, and dropped ammunition from a drone. They targeted the district centre, Pokrov, Marhanets, Chervonohryhorivka and Myrove communities. A multi-storey building, a farm, three country houses, a bus stop and power lines were damaged. Kryvyi Rih region was also shelled from villages with artillery. A private house and two dozen solar panels were damaged.
Vinnytsia oblast
In the week from 30 September to 6 October, 16 soldiers from Vinnytsia oblast were killed.
Vasyl Bobryk, a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, opened a maths classroom in Ladyzhyn with grant money. He spent 250 thousand hryvnias on it. The man was an ATO participant, defending Ukraine after the full-scale invasion.
380 businesses have relocated to Vinnytsia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. They operate in various areas of economic activity.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andriy Raшkovych, Head of Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, said that the Air Armed Forces were operating in Kirovohrad oblast at night.
In the city of Oleksandriia, Kirovohrad oblast, a hub is operating to provide psychosocial support to veterans, families of fallen soldiers, and families whose relatives are in captivity or missing.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, said that at night, the defenders destroyed 7 Shahed drones in Cherkasy oblast.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia RMA, reported that a 61-year-old woman was injured and concussed as a result of a russian FPV drone attack on Huliaipole and she was hospitalised.
According to Huliaipole Antiquities public organisation, a fire caused by russian shelling damaged the historic Podolianske cemetery in Huliaipole, with the first burials there dating back to 1850-1860.
Mykolaiv oblast
According to Mykolaiv RMA, on the night of 6 October, air defence forces in Mykolaiv oblast shot down a Shahed-136/131 drone.
Odesa oblast
As reported by the State Emergency Service, on the night of 6 October, russian forces attacked Odesa by drones, causing fires that were extinguished.
According to Air Command South, russia attacked Odesa oblast by 2 ballistic missiles, likely Iskander-M.
The RMA informed that as a result of the drone attack, a former dormitory of an asphalt plant in Khadzhybeiskyi district of Odesa was damaged, with 9 windows shattered in the two-story building.

Kherson oblast
Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, reported that on 6 October, around 4pm, russian forces attacked Dniprovskyi district of Kherson, injuring a 61-year-old man.
According to the RMA, russian forces also attacked Stanislav in Kherson oblast by a drone, injuring 2 men.
Near Orlove in Kherson oblast, russian forces attacked a bus by a drone, injuring a 50-year-old passenger.
Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, said that around 7am, russian forces attacked Dniprovskyi district of Kherson by a drone, injuring a 64-year-old man.

Volyn oblast
The 2nd Self-Propelled Artillery Division of the 36th Separate Marine Infantry Brigade received 10 RAPTOR UAVs with a thermal imaging camera from Lutsk community.
Zakarpattia oblast
The oblast sent a Peugeot Boxer ambulance to the Karpatska Sich unit.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 50 FPV drones to the 4th Tank Brigade thanks to the budget funds.
The Center for Complex Rehabilitation for People with Disabilities Donbas, which moved to the region at the beginning of the full-scale war, is actively working and developing in Prykarpattia. This year, 319 people received a complex of rehabilitation services at the institution. About 200 of them are children with disabilities. Also, participants of hostilities and IDPs are rehabilitated here.
Lviv oblast
The RMA sent 58 FPV drones to the defenders. All of them were produced in Lviv oblast. For their production, over UAH 1.2m were allocated by the enterprise IRV and the YASENY CF, and UAH 600,000 were allocated from the regional budget of Lviv oblast.
The RMA reported that in Zolochiv region, junior sergeant Ivan Tochilov, was awarded with the III degree Order of Courage (posthumously) and soldier Basarab Andrii was awarded with the Fallen Warrior Order (posthumously).
In Horodok, the Memorial Square of the Heroes who were killed in the struggle for freedom and independence of Ukraine was consecrated. 82 stands with the names and photos of the victims from Horodotsk community were placed here. During the event, the clergy conducted a memorial service and consecrated the square.
In memory of the fallen Andrii Halynovych, shooter of the Military Unit A4038, a memorial plaque was installed in Khodorivska community. The defender was killed on 24 January, 2024, near Terna settlement, Donetsk oblast.
Rivne oblast
The construction of 3 school shelters is being completed in Sarnen region. The 1st, for 300 people, is almost ready, the other 2, respectively, for 300 and 400 people, are at the final stage. In addition to the mentioned 3 shelters, the construction of civil defence facilities is also underway in schools of Varash, Kidriv, Lyukhchi and Horodets. School shelters in Babin and Kotov were put into operation earlier.
Ternopil oblast
A specialised centre for searching for persons who have gone missing under special circumstances operates in Ternopil oblast. Citizens who have lost contact with their relatives who are in the war zone can contact the representatives of the center. Specialists will provide advice on the algorithm of their actions in such situations, help in solving problematic issues that will arise during the search and location of missing persons, etc.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
At night, while repelling an enemy air attack, 1 UAV of the Shaheed type was shot down. There were no casualties, damage to property or objects of critical infrastructure.
Chernivtsi oblast
In Chisinau, 12 territorial communities of Bukovina concluded cooperation agreements with 12 communities of Moldova. The project is implemented within the framework of cooperation between Chernivtsi RMA and the National Congress of Ukrainians in Moldova. The signing of the agreements took place during the IV annual Forum and festival Ukrainian Day in Moldova 2024.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany, proposes to create a contact group consisting of Germany, France, Great Britain and Poland on issues of the European post-war system of Ukraine. According to Mertz, along with the US, these 4 countries have sufficient political, economic and military potential and opportunities to influence the formation of a political order in Europe after the aggressive кussian war.
Lithuania denounced agreements with the russian federation and belarus regarding economic cooperation. All 3 agreements were signed in 1999.
Estonia changes the conditions for providing housing rental assistance to Ukrainian refugees. From 11 September, only those refugees who applied within the 1st 6 months after receiving their 1st residence permit in Estonia will be able to receive rent compensation. Currently, a significant number of Ukrainian refugees who have been in the country for over a year live in Estonia.
