Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:
Russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. In turn, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are disrupting the enemy’s insidious plans, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.
In total, 75 combat engagements have taken place since the beginning of the day.
Border settlements continue to suffer from cynical shelling from the territory of the russian Federation. Starykove, Obody, Pavlivka, Seredyna Buda, Slavgorod, Zarichne, Popivka, Iskryskivka, Miropilske, Oleksandrivka, Novenke, Bachivsk, Bobylivka, Boiar-Lezhachi in Sumy oblast; Leonivka in Chernihiv oblast were shelled by enemy artillery. The invaders conducted air strikes in the areas of Velyka Pysarivka, Bilovody, Popivka in Sumy oblast, dropping 5 UAVs and using 10 NARs.
Also, today, the russians have already dropped 21 guided aerial bombs on Kursk oblast of the russian Federation.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy conducted five assault operations near Novoosynove and Lozova. Three engagements ended, two more are ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked twice near Zahryzove. Ukrainian defenders repelled one attack, another is ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the enemy did not conduct any active operations.
Towards Kramatorsk, two assaults on the positions of our defenders near Orikhovo-Vasylivka are still ongoing, and the enemy has also launched airstrikes on Chasiv Yar and Stupochki.
Towards Toretsk, the areas of Toretsk, Kostiantynivka, Druzhba, Petrivka and Sukha Balka re suffering from enemy airstrikes, the enemy dropped a total of 12 guided aerial bombs.
Towards Pokrovsk, since the beginning of the day, with the support of aviation, the occupiers have made 13 attempts to push our defenders from their positions near Promin, Lysivka, Novohrodivka, Krutyi Yar, Selydove and Hrodivka. The defence forces are holding back the enemy’s offensive and repelled seven attacks, six firefights are still ongoing. The enemy’s losses are being clarified.
Towards Kurakhove, the enemy attacked 53 times near Vovchenka, Stepanivka, Illinka, Berizka, Kreminna Balka, Novoselydivka, Novodmitrivka, Horoshne, Maksymilianivka, Antonivka, Yelizavetivka and Katerynivka. There are currently 26 firefights.
Towards Vremivka, the occupiers attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions five times near Kostiantynopilske and Trudove. Three firefights are still ongoing. At the same time, the enemy, supporting the offensive, actively used aviation, and launched 49 unguided missiles.
Towards Huliaipole, Bilohiria was under airstrikes with unguided missiles.
Towards Orikhiv, the invaders made one unsuccessful attempt to attack the positions of our defenders near Orikhiv. In addition, the enemy dropped 14 guided aerial bombs in the vicinity of Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv and Novoandriivka.
Towards Kherson, russian troops made two assaults, which our defenders successfully repelled. The situation is under control.
The situation in other frontline areas has not changed significantly.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that six children have been evacuated from the occupied left bank of Kherson oblast. These are two girls and four boys aged 8 to 16. Among the returnees is a foster family raising a girl deprived of parental care. Her adult brother was evacuated with her.
Leonid Tymchenko, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, reported that the Unified Register of Persons Missing in Special Circumstances contains data on more than 52,000 Ukrainians, including more than 1,700 children.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Towards Kurakhove, the number of russian attacks has more than tripled. On 4 November, the occupiers stormed Ukrainian positions in this area of the frontline 84 times, compared to 27 attacks the day before.
Towards Lyman, russian troops also conducted more assaults. They targeted ear Terny, Zarichne and Kolisnykivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, russians attacked 22 times in one day near Promin, Lysivka, Selydove, Yurivka and Vyshneve.
Towards Vremivka, Ukrainian troops repelled another 17 attacks.
Kharkiv oblast
The General Staff reported that towards Kupiansk, russians stormed positions near Novoosynove and Lozova five times. Three clashes ended, two more are ongoing.
Mayor Ihor Terekhov said that the occupiers attacked the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv. Two 56- and 72-year-old women were injured. A five-storey apartment building was damaged. Windows were broken on the second, third and fourth floors, and cars were damaged near the building. One woman was injured. The attack was preliminarily carried out with a Shahed.
The press service of Kharkiv regional administration said that a 48-year-old man and woman were killed as a result of russian shelling of Hlushkivka at around 2pm.
The press service of the RMA said that a 40-year-old man was injured as a result of a russian attack on Kapytolivka in Izium region. According to the press service, the russian army launched a missile strike at around 9:30am, hitting a civilian enterprise that produces grain and bread. The wounded man is an employee of the company. The missile hit a warehouse, it was destroyed.
The CMA reported that at 4:34am, the russians attacked Udy and Odnorobivka of Zolochiv community. The open area was shelled by KAB.
At 12:40am, Shevchenkivskyi district was damaged. A KAB hit the ground, damaging the glazing of three apartment buildings. Two women of 39 and 40 years old were injured: they have cuts from the glass and an acute stress reaction.
At 12:30am, Kyivskyi district was hit. A private residential building was damaged as a result of shelling, hitting the ground in an open area.
Yesterday, at 3:30pm, an unknown object exploded in Husarivka village of Barvinkove community, Izium region. Two teenagers aged 12 and 13 were injured.
The enemy actively used aviation towards Kharkiv, attacking 10 times near Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, there were 21 enemy attacks yesterday. Defence forces repelled enemy assaults near Kindrashivka, Kucherivka, Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, Zahryzove, Vyshneve, Pishchane, Druzheliubivka, Lozova and Kruhliakivka.
During the day, 127 people were evacuated fromKupiansk and Borova directions.
Volodymyr Tymoshko, Head of Kharkiv regional police, reported that since 1 November, the russian army has dropped 77 guided or high-explosive bombs on the territory of Kharkiv oblast. According to him, the strikes on Kharkiv last night were carried out by FAB-250.
Oleksandr Borodin, a spokesman for the 3rd separate assault brigade, stated that in Kharkiv oblast, cases have been recorded where russian occupiers, in addition to military equipment, use electric scooters and scooters to get to their positions.
Children in Kharkiv oblast received 1,000 laptops thanks to the Olena Zelenska Foundation and the Government of the United Arab Emirates. The equipment was presented to students of privileged schools in 18 communities of the oblast.
Donetsk oblast
At 5 am, the russians struck Kostiantynivka with a FAB-250 bomb with a UMPK module. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. An outbuilding and three civilian cars were destroyed.
Yesterday the police recorded 1,791 enemy attacks on the frontline and residential areas. Also russian troops attacked 2 settlements: Pokrovsk and Shevchenko. A business and a car were damaged.
Two consecutive mechanised assaults towards Kurakhove were repelled by the soldiers of the 46th separate airmobile brigade in the evening of 4 November. The russians attacked in two columns of seven vehicles each. Ukrainian paratroopers destroyed eight, including a tank and seven armoured personnel carriers.
Volodymyr Rybalkin, Head of the CMA, reported that the temporary accommodation centre in Sviatohirsk has been connected to the centralised water supply. This is the first facility in the city to be supplied with water as part of the system’s restoration. Since September 2022, there has been no centralised water supply in the town due to the hostilities.
According to the RMA, there are 11 Invincibility Centres in Kostiantynivka community, six in the town and five more in the villages of the community.
Based on the information provided by Mariupol City Council, citing the Facebook page of journalist Ivan Stanislavskyi, in the temporarily occupied city of Mariupol, russian authorities destroyed a composition of five graffiti murals. The five drawings in the graffiti technique were created in 1990 by artists Serhii Barannik and Akhmet Fathi in the assembly hall of School №7 in Mariupol. These were a few examples of avant-garde interventions in monumental art.
Luhansk oblast
Lyman axis is one of the two along the entire frontline where the enemy is most active. According to the Regional Military Administration, the enemy was putting pressure near Makiivka and Hrekivka yesterday. They shelled Makiivka and the area around it twice with Grad multiple rocket launchers. The occupiers also fired at this village and the neighbouring Balka Zhuravka with cannon artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles. In addition, the invaders unsuccessfully stormed our positions in Bilohorivka.
Starting from 1 January, security guards at schools in the so-called “luhansk people’s republic” must have firearms and wear basic personal protective equipment, like bulletproof vests and helmets. This is in the event of a dangerous situation. In a normal situation, they can threaten students with a baton and handcuffs. All guards will also undergo an additional physical training course. Schools are becoming more dangerous due to the new whims of the russian Ministry of Education.
Also russian teachers who agree to work in the rural areas of the so-called “lpr” are offered a doubling of their one-time payment. Despite the opportunity to earn money, teachers from the russian Federation have not shown a massive desire to do so during the period of the programme. There were only isolated cases. Mostly, those who had significant problems in their educational institutions. There were no other russians willing to devote their lives to the “lpr”.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The enemy continues massive drone attacks on the Kyiv region, as reported by the Regional Military Administration. Alarms lasted nearly 10 hours overnight. No critical or residential infrastructure was hit, and there were no civilian casualties. However, falling debris damaged windows of a private house in one area.
President Volodymyr Zelensky met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Kyiv. They discussed strengthening Germany’s defense support for Ukraine in the upcoming year, investments in Ukrainian defense, and winter challenges. Baerbock arrived in the Ukrainian capital on November 4, announcing at a Kyiv press conference that Germany would provide €200 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine ahead of winter.
As part of the demining coalition, Ukraine received 230 modern vehicles and 240 mine detectors from the Republic of Lithuania. During the equipment handover in Kyiv, Lithuanian National Defense Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas stated that this was the first batch purchased under the international demining coalition for Ukraine.
In Brovary district, major renovations are nearing completion on Krasyliv Lyceum, which suffered extensive damage during fighting in spring 2022, according to the Regional Military Administration. Reconstruction is funded through the President’s UNITED24 initiative. Before the war, over 450 students were enrolled there.
The capital city of Kyiv has sent another batch of aid to the 112th Kyiv Territorial Defense Brigade, including 130 electronic warfare systems of various types and six reconnaissance drones. This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Ukrzaliznytsia and Superhumans have released a charity merchandise line, with all proceeds going towards prosthetics for veteran railway workers. The collection, themed “Our Iron Strength Breaks Concrete,” was launched at Kyiv’s railway station.
In Kyiv’s Central House of Artists, an exhibition titled “Fiery Rear: The Path to Victory” has opened, honoring the tireless daily efforts of rescuers, doctors, police officers, teachers, railway workers, and volunteers.
On November 8, the All-Ukrainian Mayors’ Summit will take place in Kyiv, where communities and businesses will present projects to attract funding. The summit’s main mission is to create a platform that connects Ukraine with the world to promote the country’s recovery and prosperity after the war, as stated by the president of WTC Kyiv and Economy of Trust Ukraine Inc.
Zhytomyr oblast
The Zhytomyr region is strengthening its cooperation with partners from the United States, as reported by the Regional Military Administration. During an official visit by a Zhytomyr regional delegation at the invitation of Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, negotiations were held with representatives of two municipalities in the state—Wabash and Noblesville. They exchanged experiences on attracting new investments at the local level and identified areas for implementing new joint projects between the municipalities.
Police psychologists from the Zhytomyr region organized a rehabilitation session for the family of a deceased law enforcement officer. Specialists from the psychological support service invited children who lost their father at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion for a meeting aimed at supporting their mental health. The event took place at a center for hippotherapy and therapeutic horseback riding.
Sumy oblast
During night and morning, russians carried out 10 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 21 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Velyka Pysarivka, Shalyhyne, Shostka, and Znob-Novhorod communities.
During the day, russians carried out 14 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 63 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, and Znob-Novhorod communities.
Bilopillia community: the enemy fired mortars (34 explosions).
Znob-Novgorod community: FPV-drone strike (1 explosion).
Yunakivka community: the russians hit the shelling by MLRS (1 explosion), artillery (8 explosions), FPV-drone (1 explosion).
Khotin community: the enemy hit by artillery (9 explosions), dropped VOG from UAV (2 explosions).
Krasnopillia community: shelling by MLRS (5 explosions) and mortars (2 explosions) was recorded.
Sumy Regional Military Administration informed that Sumy Center for Administrative Services has received an energy-saving system. The equipment was provided by the Levchenya Foundation charity with support from Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation and Sumy Regional State Administration. This system will allow 10-15 administrator workstations to operate for 5-6 hours, ensuring continued service during power outages.
Chernihiv oblast
On 4 November, russian forces launched a mortar attack on a village in a border community in Chernihiv oblast. There were five hits by 120mm mortars towards Serhiivske village in Semenivka community.
Chernihiv Regional Military Administration reported that on 4 November, russian forces used a drone to attack Pereliub village in Koriukivka region of Chernihiv oblast. The attack resulted in the destruction of a residential house, agricultural buildings, and damage to other structures in the settlement.
Chernihiv City Council informed that Mental Health Center for children has been opened in Chernihiv, offering free psychological assistance. The centre is based at the municipal non-profit enterprise “Family Clinic.” Its primary goal is to improve the mental health and quality of life of young patients, helping them cope with stress and anxiety.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Throughout the day, the enemy repeatedly attacked Nikopol region, targeting the regional centre, Marhanets and Pokrov communities by artillery, kamikaze drones and dropping ammunition from UAVs. A sports facility was damaged, but no casualties were reported.
Vinnytsia oblast
Deputy Mayor Andrii Ocheretnyi, reported that Vinnytsia oblast has registered 391 relocated enterprises. These are businesses that relocated to Vinnytsia since the first days of the full-scale invasion. As of early November, 11 new business entities registered in the oblast, including 5 legal entities and 6 individual entrepreneurs. The relocation of enterprises to Vinnytsia is occurring from different oblasts of Ukraine – east, north and south.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, a farewell ceremony was held at Dalekoshidne Cemetery for soldiers. These include:
- Volodymyr Miskiv was killed on 28 October near Kostiantynopolske village in Pokrovsk region of Donetsk oblast. He was 31 years old.
- Hennadii Donets was severely wounded near Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi in Kharkiv oblast and died on 25 October, at the age of 45.
- Mykola Yanchuk was killed on 11 March, 2023, near Bakhmut in Donetsk oblast. Until September 2024, Mykola was considered missing in action; he was 48 years old.
- Yevhen Teslenko was killed on 2 February, near Avdiivske village in Pokrovsk region of Donetsk oblast, and was also listed as missing in action for 8 months. He was 38 years old.
- Oleksandr Svystunenko, from Haidamatske village, killed on 2 November, while performing a combat mission near Mykolaivka village in Pokrovsk region of Donetsk oblast.
According to Tetiana Syla, Founder of public organisation Together We Are Strong, members of the organisation are sewing warm items for military needs. Currently, soldiers are requesting mattresses, blankets, pillows, stoves and medicine.
Poltava oblast
At the Holy Dormition Cathedral, a farewell ceremony was held for soldiers from Poltava oblast who were killed defending Ukraine. These include:
- Dmytro Boiev, who was killed on 27 October, due to a russian drone dropping an explosive device in Donetsk oblast
- Kostiantyn Podhornov, who fell on 30 October, 2024, in the northeastern direction.
- Soldier Oleksandr Verkhovskyi was killed on October 30 due to an explosive device dropped by a drone near Illinka village, Donetsk oblast.
A memorial plaque was unveiled on the facade of School №24 in Poltava in honour of Senior Sergeant Volodymyr Viazun, leader of the 2nd assault platoon of the White Demons unit of the 49th Separate Special Forces Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Carpathian Sich. He had previously served in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) and returned to service voluntarily after 24 February, 2022. Viazun was killed near Makiivka village of Luhansk oblast, from a shrapnel wound.
Mykola Riznyk, Head of Opishnya community, reported that in Mali Budyshcha village of Opishnia community, a hub for internally displaced persons was opened at the local library. The premises were renovated using grant funds, with repairs covered by the community’s budget, totaling approximately UAH 1.3m.
Cherkasy oblast
Air defence forces worked on aerial targets in the oblast, reportedly shooting down 6 Shahed drones. There were no casualties or damages reported.
In Helmiaziv village, an Alley of Glory was opened, featuring portraits of 20 fallen defenders. Those present at the opening laid flowers by the portraits and lit candles in memory.
A powerful mobile hospital was transferred from Cherkasy oblast to one of the National Guard units. The hospital meets all standards and is equipped with the necessary facilities, including an operating room. It can provide emergency medical assistance. Despite its size and full functionality, the hospital is mobile and, most importantly, can be deployed quickly. This is a critical feature for the unit receiving it. Cherkasy oblast received the hospital as humanitarian aid.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, reported that around 10am, russian forces shelled Zaporizhzhia. 6 people were killed and 24 injured. The regional prosecutor’s office has launched a pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war, which led to the deaths.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 3 November, the Defence Forces repelled a russian attack in Orikhiv axis.
The russian forces dropped 14 guided aerial bombs on areas around the settlements of Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv and Novoandriivka.
On 4 November, the Defence Forces repelled 6 russian attacks in Orikhiv axis.
Mykolaiv oblast
Vitalii Kim, Head of the RMA, informed that on the evening of 5 November, the russians attacked Ochakiv by artillery. A 13-year-old girl and a 39-year-old woman were injured and received the necessary medical assistance.
According to the RMA, there were 2 threats of ballistic missile strikes in Mykolaiv oblast on 5 November.
Odesa oblast
Based on the information provided by the Air Force, as of 5 November, at 7:30pm, there is a missile threat in Odesa oblast, likely due to the use of ballistic missiles from the south.
On the evening of 4 November, the russian forces attacked Odesa oblast by 2 guided air missiles (X-59/69), but both were shot down by the Air Force.
Kherson oblast
According to the RMA, at 10am, russian forces attacked Veletenske village in Kherson oblast, injuring an 88-year-old man who was indoors. He received medical assistance.
As reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, russian forces struck the outskirts of Kherson, causing fires at 2 locations. A private house, a summer kitchen and utility buildings caught fire, which SES responders successfully extinguished.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, said that the russian military shelled 6 settlements in Kherson oblast over the past day, targeting a gas pipeline, 4 private houses, a utility building and a garage. 1 person was injured.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
A meeting of Volyn Regional Office of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine was held. The issue of support for war veterans and their family members was discussed.
Lutsk community sent a Mitsubishi L-200 car to the 48th Separate Assault Battalion named after Noman Chelebijikhan thanks to the budget funds.
Zakarpattia oblast
The RMA reported that 107 places of temporary residence of IDPs are registered in the oblast.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The RMA reported that 58 places of temporary residence have been created in Prykarpattia, where over 2,000 IDPs live.
Lviv oblast
The Executive Committee of Lviv City Council approved 5 more people who will be paid financial aid for temporary housing during the time of removal from residential buildings that were damaged as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation on 4 September 2024. In total, the city will pay such aid to 63 people whose apartments were destroyed by the enemy.
For the defenders and their family members, a trip was organised as part of the Travel Therapy project. 30 people took part in the trip, including servicemen, as well as wives, relatives and children of killed, captured and missing soldiers. This time they travelled to the royal city of Zhovkva.
Hakan Ahir, world-famous Turkish surgeon, professor of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, came to the West Ukrainian Specialized Center of Children’s Medicine. Hakan Ahir will perform 19 surgical interventions this week at the Center for Children’s Medicine.
Rivne oblast
10 primary health care centres of Rivne oblast received new Renault Duster cars thanks to the Ministry of Health, the World Bank and Rivne oblast.
Ternopil oblast
In Ternopil, 6 servicemen will receive funds for treatment and rehabilitation. Since the beginning of the year, 225 military personnel have already received financial aid for treatment.
Khmelnytskyi oblast

High state awards of fallen soldiers were handed over to families of servicemen.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Lithuania sent 230 pickup trucks and 240 minesweepers to Ukraine. This technique will significantly strengthen Ukrainian sappers. The vehicle will be used for humanitarian demining.
Karl-Oscar Bolin, Minister of Civil Defense of Sweden, stated that his country sent 2 aid packages worth almost EUR 9m to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine met with Annalena Berbok, German Foreign Minister. They discussed military support, investments in Ukrainian defence and challenges before the onset of winter.
