On July 3, there were 83 combat clashes on the frontline. Ukrainian defenders are stopping the enemy, holding the lines and destroying the plans of russians.
The settlements of Luhivka, Marine, Velyka Pysarivka, Sosnivka, Vysoke, Bila Bereza, Stepok, Petrushivka in Sumy oblast; Arkhipivka in Chernihiv oblast were affected by russian artillery shelling. The enemy launched an airstrike on Mykhalychna Sloboda in Chernihiv oblast.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled six russian attacks, and two more combat clashes are ongoing. The enemy launched 6 airstrikes, dropped a total of 13 guided aerial bombs and carried out 149 artillery shells, including one from a multiple launch rocket system.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions seven times near Vovchansk and Ambarne. The settlements of Okhrimivka and Vilhuvatka were hit by airstrikes.
Towards Kupiansk, the Defense Forces repelled three enemy assaults in the vicinity of Kindrashivka, Zahryzove and towards Petropavlivka, and another clash is ongoing.
Towards Lyman, the aggressor attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions 11 times near Novyi Myr, Hrekivka, Ridkodub, Karpivka, Kolodiazy, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, Serebrianka and towards Dronivka.
Towards Siversk, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled one enemy attempt to advance near Vyimka.
Towards Kramatorsk, the Ukrainian military repelled one enemy attack towards Bila Hora.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops three times in the vicinity of Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka and towards Pleshchiivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, there were 30 combat clashes in the vicinity of the settlements of Myrne, Novotoretske, Myroliubivka, Malinivka, Promyn, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Horikhove, Oleksiivka, Dachne and near Myrnohrad, Novopidhorodne and Sofiivka. Five combat clashes are still ongoing. Enemy aviation struck with guided bombs at the settlements of Poltavka, Bilytske, Myrnograd, Novopavlivka, Filiia, and Dachne.
Towards Novopavlivka, the occupiers tried to break through four times in the vicinity of the settlements of Zaporizhzhia, Komar, Vilne Pole and towards the settlement of Andriivka-Klevtsove, one combat clash is still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy once tried to advance in the vicinity of Novozlatopol.
Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian defenders repelled one attack of the invaders towards Novopavlivka.
Towards Kherson, the Defense Forces successfully repelled one enemy attack.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Kyiv City Military Administration reported that on 3 July, russian troops attacked the capital with drones. Air defence forces are operating in the city. An air raid alert was declared at 17:16. After 18:00, several metro stations in Kyiv are operating only as shelters. As of 9 p.m., debris from the downed drone was found in an open area in the Solomyanskyi district. The mayor of Kyiv reported that debris had fallen on the roof of a residential building on the Left Bank of Dnipro.
At St. Michael’s Cathedral and on Independence Square in Kyiv, funeral services were held for the deceased F-16 pilot Maksym Ustymenko. Maksym was in the first group of 12 pilots who were the first to undergo training on the F-16 and had been flying it since last summer. He was killed defending Ukrainian airspace from a russian attack on the night of 29 June.
Serhiy Movenko, head of the Solomyanskyi District State Administration in Kyiv, announced that over 10 per cent of the housing stock in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv has been damaged as a result of russian shelling. Most of the houses have broken windows and damaged roofs. According to him, more than 3,000 windows were damaged in the district as a result of russian attacks. Currently, all of them are covered with foil and OSB boards. The roof is planned for repair before the start of the autumn-winter period.
The Office of the President announced that a centre for identifying the bodies of repatriated defenders is planned to open at the end of the summer in Kyiv oblast. The construction of such a centre should speed up the identification and transfer of bodies to families. The project is being implemented with financial support from the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Commission on Missing Persons.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that construction of the first launch complex of the first phase has been completed at the National Military Memorial Cemetery in Kyiv oblast, and the first 6,000 burial sites have been prepared. The first burials will take place in the near future.
In Kyiv, on the Alley of Defenders of Ukraine, near the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People, a memorial sign in honour of the army aviation was unveiled. The sign was laid on the occasion of the Day of Army Aviation of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is spent for the first time in Ukraine this year on 3 June.
Zhytomyr oblast
The project ‘Development of digital municipal services for demobilised veterans in Ukraine’ has been launched in Zhytomyr. The initiative, implemented by the e-Governance Academy (eGA) with financial support from the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV), aims to create convenient and accessible digital services for veterans.
Sumy oblast
General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that over the past day, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 russian attacks on Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk fronts. Enemy forces launched 19 guided aerial bombs, 360 artillery strikes, including 19 from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS)
Andriy Demchenko, the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service, said that the use of russian small assault groups in Sumy oblast has significantly decreased, as has the use of quad bikes and motorized equipment. russian forces are actively deploying guided aerial bombs and unguided rockets, particularly within Yunakivka and Khotin communities.
Artem Semenikhin, Konotop Mayor, informed that on the morning of 3 July, russian forces attacked Konotop with strike UAVs. As a result of the attack, a city infrastructure facility was destroyed.
According to Seredyna-Buda City Council, on 3 July, enemy forces attacked Seredyna-Buda city by UAVs. As a result of the strikes, a five-story residential building and an educational institution were damaged.
The Regional Military Administration reported that during the day from the morning of 2 July to the morning of 3 July, russian forces carried out over 80 shelling attacks on 27 settlements across 11 territorial communities in the oblast. The most intense shelling was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (30 hits), dropped VOG grenades from UAVs (nearly 20 hits), and multiple rocket launchers (nearly 20 hits), as well as conducted FPV-drone and missile strikes.
As a result of russian strikes over the past day in Sumy community, windows of an apartment building, glass in a car, and a non-residential building were damaged.
Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and public organizations from border communities, evacuated 52 people.
Police officers evacuated a woman from Seredyna-Buda under russian shelling. After another attack on the settlement and a fall in her home, the elderly woman sought medical help. Doctors diagnosed a fracture and determined that urgent surgery was needed. Due to the proximity to the border, ongoing enemy shelling, and aerial threats, it was impossible to evacuate the patient to the hospital capable of performing the operation on their own, so they turned to the police for assistance.
The Regional Military Administration announced that three military units operating in Sumy oblast received a batch of technical assistance. UAVs, communication equipment, and other gear were promptly purchased with funds from donors by the ‘Come Back Alive’ foundation.
Chernihiv oblast
Andriy Demchenko, Spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service, reported that opposite the border of Chernihiv oblast, russian forces maintain certain troops and equipment, but no significant grouping for an offensive has been observed, including the use of infantry units or sabotage-reconnaissance groups. He stated that all forces russia keeps near the region’s border are primarily intended to hold their positions.
Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that on 2 July, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (4 explosions), barrel artillery strikes (2 explosions), and multiple rocket launcher attacks (40 explosions). They also launched strikes using aircraft-type UAVs ‘Molniya’ (1 explosion), FPV-drones (16 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (17 explosions). In Medvedivka village, Semenivka community, two explosive devices were dropped from UAVs, causing a fire in an uninhabited house.
According to the Regional Police, explosive experts discovered the warhead of a russian UAV that was shot down by Ukraine’s Defense Forces in Chernihiv region. Specialists from the bomb disposal unit safely removed the UAV’s warhead and transported it to a designated site for further destruction.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the Regional Military Administration, reported that ryssian forces once again attacked Nikopol and Synelnykove regions. Around 15 strikes were launched on Nikopol region by drones and artillery. The enemy targeted the regional centre, Marhanets and Pokrov communities. A fire broke out and a public utility, private houses, an outbuilding, a greenhouse and a car were damaged. According to updated information, a morning artillery strike on Nikopol damaged 3 private houses, an outbuilding, a garage, a power line and a gas pipeline. In Synelnykove region, the enemy struck Velykomykhailivka, Mezhova and Malomykhailivka communities by KABs and a drone. One man was killed.
Kirovohrad oblast
In Kropyvnytskyi, residents welcomed home Andrii Nepomenko, a Ukrainian serviceman who was freed from russian captivity on 25 May 2025, after being held for more than 3 years. Family, friends and fellow soldiers gathered to greet him. Andrii Nepomenko was captured on 22 April 2022, following battles near Novotoshkivske village, Luhansk oblast. He serves in the 57th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade named after Kostiantyn Hordiienko.
Poltava oblast
According to Poltava Regional Military Administration, during the day, the enemy launched an attack on Poltava community. A fire broke out at the site. Civilian infrastructure was damaged. Preliminary reports indicate that 2 people were killed and 11 injured.
Cherkasy oblast
Roman Oryshchenko, a platoon commander with the 72nd Separate Mechanised Brigade named after the Black Zaporizhians, was killed in action fighting against russian forces. He was born in Talne, Cherkasy oblast, and was a well-known civil society activist, co-founder of the Maidan Self-Defence, and a leader in the Plast scouting movement.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on 2 July, the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 1 russian attack in Orikhiv region. The combat engagement took place near Kamianske.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that russian forces carried out 432 attacks on 9 towns and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. These included 294 drone strikes (mostly FPV drones) targeting Lobkove, Dolynka, Kamianske, Shcherbaky, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka and Charivne.
Mykolaiv oblast
Referring to Mykolaiv RMA, on 2 July, russian forces attacked Kutsurub community twice by FPV drones and once by artillery at 4:16pm. As a result, houses were damaged and fires broke out in open areas in Dmytrivka village. There were no casualties reported.
Odesa oblast
Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration, reported that today, the russian military launched an Iskander missile strike on the Port of Odesa, killing 2 people – a dockworker and a truck driver – and injuring 6 others. Among the injured are employees of a port operator and 2 Syrian nationals, crew members of a civilian ship. At the time of the attack, metal was being unloaded from a foreign ship flying the flag of São Tomé and Príncipe. Infrastructure damage includes gantry cranes, equipment and warehouses.
In Odesa, during a nighttime attack, a 9-storey building was damaged. Fire engulfed apartments on the 7th, 8th and 9th floors. According to investigators, 5 residents were injured, including a 7-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy. 50 residents were evacuated, 11 from the top floors. 6 apartments were destroyed and 36 damaged.

Kherson oblast
According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, a 78-year-old woman was injured in Bilozirka due to russian shelling. She suffered a blast injury and burns to her neck, torso and limbs and is currently hospitalised.
Today, russian drones attacked a medical facility in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. Several ambulances and civilian vehicles were damaged and windows in 1 building were blown out. There were no casualties reported.
The CMA added that around 9am, russian forces dropped explosives from a drone in the same district, injuring a 58-year-old man with blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to his legs.
The RMA informed that in the morning, russian forces attacked a man by a drone in Dniprovsky district of Kherson. He was hospitalised with an explosive injury, contusion and shrapnel wounds to his face and leg. Also, a 75-year-old woman was attacked. She sustained a mine-blast trauma and shrapnel wounds.
In Nezlamne, a drone-dropped explosive hit a residential yard in the morning, injuring a 55-year-old man with a blast injury, concussion and shrapnel wound to the arm.
The SES said that overnight, russian forces shelled Beryslav region, causing a fire in a building. There were no casualties reported.
According to the RMA, russian military shelled Korabelnyi district of Kherson at night. The preschool education institution was damaged: the roof was broken and windows were shattered.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 2 June, 37 settlements in Kherson oblast came under russian attack. Damage was recorded to 2 high-rise buildings and 7 private houses. 9 people were injured.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
In Volyn, a solemn welcome was given to serviceman Mykhailo Danyliuk, who had been in russian captivity for over nine months and returned home as part of an exchange. As Mykhailo Danyliuk said, the russians have been holding him since September 2024. At home, he plans to return to civilian life. He says: the food in captivity was poor, so he dreamed of eating familiar dishes. The fighter lost weight, but managed to recover a little during rehabilitation.
Zakarpattia oblast
The Andrii Novak Zakarpattia Regional Clinical Hospital has manufactured a new prosthesis for a serviceman who defends Ukraine in Kharkiv region. The prosthesis cup was printed on the hospital’s 3D printer in 4 hours.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Ivano-Frankivsk is among 15 regions that joined the creation of a “strategic reserve” at the initiative of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine. The contribution of the Carpathian region to strengthening defense in Zaporizhia oblast is UAH 16.6m.
Lviv oblast
Another meeting was held in Lviv Military District with families of servicemen who went missing or are in captivity. Among key topics were the lack of information about the fate of loved ones, difficulties in obtaining official documents, problems with official investigations and processing one-time cash assistance. Separately, there was a discussion of identifying people in videos and photos, and searching for military personnel in temporarily occupied territories.
During the annual report concert of Boryslav Children’s School of Arts, over UAH 36,000 were raised. A charity fair was held in Pidhaichykivska School of Rudkivska community to support defender Volodymyr Buchkovsky, where UAH 8,300 were raised.
Sambir region sent a car, a generator, medicines, camouflage nets, food, and various consumables to Zaporizhia oblast for the fighters-residents of our community.
A divine liturgy was held in the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Skhidnytsia, performed by Drohobych Municipal Chamber Choir Legend. UAH 13,000 was raised to purchase military equipment for the 67th Separate Territorial Defense Battalion named after Andrii Sheptytsky.
Rivne oblast
Additional infrastructure facilities will be taken under protection in Rivne oblast. All oblasts received such an order after the regular meeting of the State Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies.
Ternopil oblast
In Ternopil, within the framework of the First Forum of Starosts of Ternopil Oblast, a meeting was held with Martin Oberg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine. They discussed the economic potential of the oblast and joint projects to support veterans and their families, as well as the possibility of establishing cooperation in the medical field.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that the city already spent over UAH 10m on grant support for innovations in the defense sector.
Chernivtsi oblast
6 students of Kitsman Vocational College, after a road accident in France and a stay in hospitals, returned to Bukovina. They traveled all the way to Chernivtsi from Paris by train, accompanied by medics. In France, the children were provided with the necessary medical care, and further treatment, which they still need, will continue in their homeland. From the train, the children immediately went to hospitals in 6 ambulances, accompanied by doctors. 2 more students and a teacher from Chernivtsi Gymnasium №4 remain in France, as they need specialized treatment on site.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Sweden is allocating around €130m in military aid to Ukraine. The funds will go towards barrels for Archer self-propelled artillery systems, long-range weapons and underwater vehicles, as well as additional logistical support.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with representatives of American companies and entrepreneurs – members of the American Chamber of Commerce. They discussed paying taxes, preserving and creating new jobs.
The US temporarily halts delivery of critical munitions to Ukraine. The US has temporarily suspended the transfer of a number of critical missiles and munitions to Ukraine. The Pentagon emphasizes that this is not a complete cessation of military aid, but its temporary review. The key goal is to strengthen US defense readiness against the backdrop of growing global threats.
