russian invaders continue to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders. In turn, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are disrupting the enemy’s insidious plans, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.
There were 107 combat engagements on the frontline.
Border settlements continue to suffer from cynical shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular Pohrebky, Hrabovske, Iskryskivshchyna, Obody, Volfyne in Sumy oblast; Tymofiyivka in Kharkiv oblast. The invaders conducted air strikes on Yunakivka, Zhuravka and Basivka in Sumy oblast, dropping 5 bombs.
One attack was repelled and another is ongoing in the near Vovchansk towards Kharkiv. russians also carried out airstrikes on Slatyn and Kozacha Lopan, using seven combat aircraft.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy carried out seven assault operations near Pishchane, Zahryzove, Zelenyi Hai, Kruhlyakivka, Kolisnykivka and Lozova. Two combat engagements ended, five more are ongoing. Pishchane came under airstrikes with unguided missiles.
Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked 13 times near Hrekivka, Terny, Yampolivka, Torske and Serebrianka forest. Three enemy attacks remained incomplete.
One attack towards Siversk near the village of Ivano-Daryivka is ongoing.
Ukrainian defence forces stopped one russian attack near Predtechyne towards Kramatorsk.
With the support of bomber aircraft towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked seven times near the settlements of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. Two battles ended without success for the occupiers, five more are ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers made eight attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Mykolayivka, Promin, Krutyi Yar, Selydove and Vyshneve. The defence forces are holding back the enemy’s onslaught and repelled three attacks, while five combat engagements are still ongoing. The enemy’s losses are being clarified.
Towards Kurakhove, the hottest area, the enemy attacked 35 times near Illinka, Novoselydivka, Novodmitrivka, Hostrye, Maksymilianivka, Antonivka, Kostiantynivka and Katerynivka. 18 battles were completed, 17 more are still ongoing.
Towards Vremivka, the occupiers attacked the positions of Ukrainian troops near Trudove and Maksymivka four times without success. The enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Novodaryivka, Bohoiavlenka, Maksymivka and Velyka Novosilka, dropping six drones and using 30 NARs.
Towards Orikhiv, the enemy continued to shell the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian infrastructure, two attacks were repelled in the vicinity of Nesterianka, and the enemy launched an airstrike with unguided missiles on Lobkove and dropped bombs on Mala Tokmachka, Yurivka and Novopavlivka.
Towards Kherson, russian invaders stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders twice without success. The situation is under control.
The situation in other frontline areas did not change significantly.
Andrii Sybiha, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, reports that in October, russia used 1908 Shaheds against Ukraine. This is 40 per cent more than in September.
The Air Force reports that 71 UAVs were launched across Ukraine. 39 russian UAVs were shot down, 21 more were lost in the area, and 5 more returned to russia.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
According to the General Staff, towards Kharkiv, one attack was repelled, another is ongoing near Vovchansk. The russian army carried out airstrikes on Slatyne and Kozacha Lopan, using seven UAVs.
Towards Kupiansk, russia launched seven assaults near Pishchane, Zahryzove, Zelenyi Hai, Kruhlyakivka, Kolisnykivka and Lozova. Two firefights ended, five more are ongoing. Pishchane was hit with unguided missiles.
According to Viktor Kovalenko, Head of the village military administration, two russian bombs were dropped on an open area outside the villages of Baranivka and Snihy in Zolochiv community at about 15:15. There was no damage or casualties.
According to Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, a 33-year-old and a 61-year-old man sustained explosive wounds in Bilyi Kolodyazh as a result of a russian drone attack on a civilian car at around 14:00.
According to Oleksandr Hololobov, Head of Mala Danylivka community, fishermen caught an anti-personnel remote-controlled mine in one of the ponds on the territory of the forestry in the community. It is to be detonated on the spot.

At 02:58, russians attacked the village of Slatyne, Dergachi TC, Kharkiv region. As a result of the shelling, an outbuilding caught on fire. The windows of three private houses and 2 outbuildings were damaged.
At 02:40, russians struck an open area outside the village of Odnorobivka with a guided bomb.
According to Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi CMA, a russian aerial bomb attacked Slatyne at around 02:30. At least 10 private houses and outbuildings were damaged, and no one was injured.

At 02:00, russians attacked Kozacha Lopan village, Derhachi TC, Kharkiv region. The shelling partially damaged a private house, an outbuilding, a summer kitchen, a garage, and outbuildings.
On 1 November, at 21:15, russians attacked Kupiansk. A five-storey residential building was hit. A 44-year-old man and two women aged 68 and 75 were injured
At 16:08, russians attacked the city of Kharkiv, Osnovianskyi district. The shelling damaged 26 buildings and 12 vehicles. 13 civilians were injured. One policeman was killed, 36 policemen and one employee of the State Emergency Service were injured.

According to Volodymyr Tymoshko, Head of Kharkiv police, 16 out of 36 law enforcement officers remain in hospital after the russian air strikes, three of them in grave condition. A woman in her 26th week of pregnancy is among those injured.
At 15:51, russians attacked the village of Vilkhuvatka, Kupiansk region, partially destroying a private house. Three people were injured: two men aged 59 and 87 and an 84-year-old woman (acute stress reaction, no hospitalisation).
Towards Kharkiv, the enemy attempted to attack near Vovchansk, but failed.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked five times. Ukrainian defence forces repelled the enemy’s assault near Petropavlivka, Lozova, Kruhliakivka and Zahryzove.
133 people (including 4 children) were evacuated from Kupiansk and Borova directions.
In October, it emerged that 60 Ukrainian soldiers from Kharkiv and the region had been killed. The deaths were officially reported by municipalities or universities.
Mykola Chekhunov, director of the State Industrial Complex, said that at the State Industrial Complex, which was damaged by a russian FAB-500 air strike, the workers have finished covering the windows. Over the weekend, on 2 and 3 November, they plan to replace the broken stained glass windows.
According to Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov, 380 residential buildings were damaged in the city by russian federation attacks in October. 160 roofs were damaged, and 4,648 windows were smashed in apartments as a result of shelling.
Donetsk oblast
The General Staff reports that the situation at the front remains the most tense towards Kurakhove. Here, the Defence Forces repelled 52 attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Ostrovske, Illinka, Novoselydivka, Kreminna Balka, Novodmitrivka, Vovchenka, Maksymilianivka, Dale, Antonivka and Katerynivka. The occupiers were most actively trying to advance Antonivka, Novoselydivka and Illinka.
Towards Kurakhove, paratroopers of the 46th Airmobile Brigade destroyed more than 130 pieces of equipment and weapons of the russian army in October.
Anastasia Medviedieva, Spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office, and Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk regional military administration, reports that russian troops shelled the village of Ivanopillia of Kostiantynivka community and the town of Myrnohrad with artillery. As a result, two people were killed and one person injured. Four private houses, a power line and a gas pipeline were damaged.
2 people were killed as a result of shelling of Ivanopillya in Kostiantynivka community. This evening the village came under fire from russian artillery. A 60-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman were killed. Four private houses, a power line and a gas pipeline were damaged.
Operational situation in the region as of the morning of 2 November:
Pokrovsk region. In Sukhi Yaly of Kurakhivka community, 2 people were killed and 1 injured. In Novotroiitske of Pokrovsk community, an administrative building was damaged.
Kramatorsk region. In Lyman, a two-storey building and an administrative building were damaged; in Zakitne, 1 house was destroyed and 2 damaged. In Kostiantynivka, 4 private houses and 2 industrial buildings were damaged; in Viroliubivka, a house was damaged.
Bakhmut region. In Siversk, 4 houses were damaged. A person was killed in Chasiv Yar community, 9 private houses and a multi-storey building were damaged.
In total, russians fired 9 times at the settlements of Donetsk oblast over the last day. 1,554 people, including 38 children, were evacuated from the frontline.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of the Donetsk Military Administration, reported that over the past 24 hours, russians killed 4 residents of Donetsk oblast: 2 in Sukhi Yaly, 1 in Yuriyivka and 1 in Chasiv Yar. 4 more people were wounded.
Luhansk oblast
The invaders stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Hrekivka, Makiivka and in Serebrianka forest. Each of these attacks was repelled. The enemy continues to fire at the frontline settlements in the oblast. It uses mainly cannon artillery and drones. It was these types of weapons that russians used to attack Makiivka and Balka Zhuravka.
The occupiers have arranged regular checks of the region residents in Luhansk. On every road leading to the city, they stop and thoroughly inspect vehicles and deceive passengers. Special attention is paid to men. In some places, significant traffic jams are forming.
Along with apartments and houses, russians are in a hurry to ‘nationalise’ non-residential property. But while in Siverskodonetsk, for example, they at least announce the addresses of such properties, in Starobilsk they publish photographs from which the rightful owner must identify the property within 30 days and come with the documents and a russian passport. After a month’s time, it will be expropriated.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
The Regional Military Administration reported that an 82-year-old woman was injured in an air attack on Kyiv oblast, sustaining shrapnel wounds due to the fall of UAV parts. She was taken to a district hospital with head wounds and a hypertensive crisis.
As of 12:00, 8 private houses, an apartment in a high-rise building, and two outbuildings were damaged in four regions of Kyiv oblast. Windows and doors were smashed, facades and roofs damaged. A combine harvester burned down in a private household as a result of falling debris. In addition, power lines were damaged, leaving 1,860 customers in one of the oblast’s settlements without electricity.
In Kyiv, two people were injured in an enemy attack, including a patrol policeman who was helping residents of a burning house in the Sviatoshyn district. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the fire broke out on the top floor of a 16-storey residential building, with partial destruction of apartments on two floors. Rescuers extinguished the fire, and 18 residents were evacuated from the building.
Kyiv CMA reported that in total, the fall of the wreckage of downed enemy drones was recorded in six districts of the capital.
In Solomianskyi district, the glazing and exterior decoration of several residential buildings and 5 cars were damaged.
In Svyatoshynskyi district, a fire on the 15th and 16th floor of a residential building on the area of 50 sq.m. broke out, and a non-residential building was also damaged.
In a 22-storey residential building in Holosiivskyi district, the glazing of several apartments was partially damaged.
In Dniprovskyi district, local fires broke out on several balconies of apartment buildings, debris fell on the territory of residential buildings, and two cars were damaged.
A fire broke out between the 3rd and 4th floors of a disused multi-storey building in Shevchenkovskyi district.
Serhii Popko, Head of Kyiv CMA, reported that russian UAVs entered Kyiv in groups, split into single targets before the city and attacked at very low altitudes to complicate the work of air defences. The air alert in the capital lasted more than 5 hours.
The DTEK power company reported that due to damage to a transit high-voltage line in Kyiv oblast as a result of shelling, some houses in the Holosiivka district of the capital were left without electricity. The power has been restored, but the line needs to be repaired. Damage to distribution networks also led to power outages in Bucha and Vyshhorod regions. Power engineers are continuing repair work.

According to Kyiv CMA, environmental recycling of construction waste has begun in Kyiv oblast using special equipment provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The company has begun clearing the temporary storage sites for waste from the destruction of Makariv and Borodianka communities. The resulting raw materials will be used to build road bases, manufacture construction products, as fillers for mortars or structures, or to strengthen river banks. Over the next year, the company plans to process more than 50,000 tonnes.
The regional military administration reported that there are currently about 4,000 destroyed facilities in the oblast as a result of hostilities and constant enemy attacks, which need to be completely dismantled and rebuilt.
On 1 November, the capital commemorates the 26-year-old junior sergeant of the Carpathian Sich battalion, Andrii Romaniuk, who was killed at the front. The soldier was the commander of the unmanned aerial vehicle unit of the 49th separate assault battalion. At the age of 16, Andrii joined the Revolution of Dignity and later served in the ATO.
Zhytomyr oblast
On 1 November, the second open Forum for Unification of Veteran Policy was held in Zhytomyr. The purpose of the forums is to bring together all public, charitable and business organisations to support veterans after they leave military service, help them find employment, start their own business, rehabilitate and socialise. The Forum was attended by about a hundred veterans and their families, representatives of NGOs and businesses.
At the end of October, the first 50 forest protection officers were solemnly awarded for their heroic fight against forest fires at Ushomyr forestry in Zhytomyr oblast. The State Enterprise Forests of Ukraine reported that in total, more than 500 employees in different oblasts will receive awards and prizes. It noted that thanks to the dedicated work of foresters and rescuers, it is possible to overcome dangerous situations related to fires caused by natural disasters and war. Enemy shelling and ammunition left in the forests lead to large-scale fire outbreaks covering large areas.
Sumy oblast
Artem Kobzar, Acting Mayor of Sumy, reported that on the evening of 1 November, at 7:40pm, russian forces attacked Sumy, resulting in destruction and damage following a drone strike. Six civilians were injured, including a pregnant woman, with one person in serious condition and others sustaining moderate injuries. The attack damaged four apartment buildings, an enterprise building, a commercial property, and 12 vehicles. Additionally, 173 consumers in Sumy were left without gas supply due to the strike.
During night and morning, russians carried out 7 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 8 explosions. The attacks targeted Khotin, Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, Esman communities.
During the day, on 1 November, russians carried out 29 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 60 explosions. The attacks targeted Sumy, Khotin, Yunakivka, Bilopollia, Myropilia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Nova Slobidka, Seredyna-Buda communities.
Velyka Pysarivka community: attacks by FPV-drone (1 explosion), and mortar fire (6 explosions).
Bilopillia community: an attack by FPV-drones (3 explosions), mortar shelling (12 explosions), and shelling with rocket launchers (3 explosions).
Nova Slobidka community: an FPV-drone attack was carried out from the territory of the russian federation (1 explosion).
Yunakivka community: the enemy fired artillery (6 explosions).
Khotin community: aerial bombs of GAB type were launched from an enemy plane (5 explosions), FPV-drones struck (4 explosions), mortar shelling (4 explosions).
Krasnopillia community: russians dropped 2 mines on the territory of the community. An explosive device of the VOG type was dropped from an enemy UAV of the quadcopter type (1 explosion).
Seredyna-Buda community: mortar shelling (8 explosions).
Myropilia community: attacks with GABs (3 explosions).
Sumy community: as a result of an unmanned aerial vehicle strike (1 explosion), there are injuries, damage to a multi-story residential building, and cars. All relevant services are involved to overcome the consequences.
The energy company of Sumy oblast reported that due to the attack on 1 November, 895 settlements in Sumy oblast were left without power, affecting nearly 366,000 electricity consumers. Currently, over 6,000 consumers near the border remain temporarily without electricity due to ongoing russian strikes.
Chernihiv oblast
According to Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, since the start of the full-scale invasion, over 5,500 residential buildings have been restored in Chernihiv oblast with the support of international partners. Additionally, 83 educational institutions, 50 healthcare and social protection facilities, nearly 1,500 critical infrastructure facilities, and 33 bridges and overpasses have been rebuilt. More than 550 donor organisations are contributing to Chernihiv’s recovery efforts, with aid coming from countries like France, Latvia, and Germany. Belgium has also recently begun collaboration in the region.
In Nizhyn, Chernihiv oblast, an inclusive centre operates to support people with disabilities, veterans, and families of fallen soldiers. The centre provides access to psychological, rehabilitation, and legal services, along with workshops. The premises for this inclusive space were provided by Nizhyn City Council.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk City Council, reported that at night, the occupiers shelled Nikopol region with artillery. They targeted the region centre and Pokrov community.
Five people were injured in the Dnipro region as a result of the enemy attack. Among them are two children aged 8 and 15. Infrastructure was damaged. During the day, the occupiers attacked Nikopol region about a dozen times. They used artillery and kamikaze drones. They targeted the regional centre, Myrove, Marhanets, Chervonohryhorivka and Pokrov communities. 11 private houses, 3 outbuildings, an enterprise, a truck, power lines and a gas pipeline were damaged.
Kirovohrad oblast
The Air Force of Ukraine, reported that several targets were shot down in Kirovohrad oblast at night.
Poltava oblast
In Poltava, at the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the OCU, fallen defenders of Ukraine were paid tribute to. These are Anatolii Polishchuk, Maksym Mikhalchuk and Vadym Petrov from Poltava.
Cherkasy oblast
Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that the Air force was on alert in Cherkasy oblast at night. A UAV crashed in Zolotonosha region and damaged the property of a business.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Defence Forces repelled 2 russian attacks near Nesterianka towards Orikhiv.
As reported by the State Border Guard Service, Ukrainian forces destroyed a russian vehicle and a shelter in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, informed that on 1 November, russian forces carried out 237 attacks on 9 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast, including 88 drone strikes on Lobkove, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Novodariivka and Malynivka.
Mykolaiv oblast
Vitalii Kim, Head of the RMA, reported that on 1 November, at 9:20am and 12:05pm, russian forces attacked Kutsurub community in Mykolaiv oblast by FPV drones. There were no injuries reported.
Odesa oblast
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of 2 November, there is 1 russian ship in the Black Sea armed with Kalibr cruise missiles, capable of launching up to 4 missiles.
Marines from Odesa-based 35th Separate Marine Brigade captured a russian T-72 tank in Kurakhove region in Donetsk oblast using FPV drones.
Kherson oblast
In Tsentralnyi district of Kherson, a 59-year-old man was injured by russian shelling; he sustained blast trauma, concussion and shrapnel wounds to his legs and is currently hospitalised.
Around 10am, russian forces struck Inzhenerne, wounding a 43-year-old man who was hospitalised with blast injuries and a bruised shoulder.
In Stanislav, a 50-year-old resident suffered blast trauma and concussion from a drone attack; medical assistance was provided on-site.
In the morning, russian artillery targeted Zelenivka in Kherson oblast. 1 person was killed and 4 injured, including a 16-year-old girl. Rescuers recovered the body of a 40-year-old woman from the rubble. A 67-year-old woman was injured and 2 children – a 10-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl.
In Stanislav, russian forces dropped explosives on a 62-year-old woman, causing blast and head injuries and a shrapnel wound to her forearm.
Around 8:30am, russian artillery struck Korabelnyi district in Kherson, seriously injuring a 63-year-old man who was hospitalised in critical condition.

Volyn oblast

In the oblast, the XII International Symposium “Romanian-Ukrainian Relations. History and modernity” was held. It was organised by the Union of Ukrainians in Romania. The purpose of the forum is to strengthen cooperation between experts in various fields, which will help to explore common historical and cultural ties and build mutually beneficial relations.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The RMA reported that IDPs living in Verkhovyna region received 150 grocery family kits from the Global Empowerment Mission Ukraine CF.
Ivano-Frankivsk City Council reported that the community sent 15 FPV drones to the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigades.
Lviv oblast
The RMA reported that a pilot project to provide dental care to veterans and participants in hostilities and active military personnel was launched in Lviv oblast.
A volunteer group from Great Britain, initiated by farmer Mark Laird, continues to provide aid to Ukraine. This time, within the framework of the Pickups for Peace charity event, they donated 38 SUVs for the needs of the Ukrainian military.
Vasyl Savka, senior soldier, machine gunner of the Rifle Division of the Military Unit A4267, was awarded the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously). Hero’s sister received the award. Vasyl Savka was killed on 10 November 2022, near the settlement of Yakovlivka, Bakhmut region, Donetsk oblast.
Rivne oblast
In Rivne region, over the past 3 years, the number of first graders in Rivne oblast has decreased by 3,000. At the beginning of 2021, the number of students in the region was 16,000. In 2022, there were 15,500 of them, in 2023 – 15,000, and this year – only 13,000. Thus, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the number of first-graders has decreased by a third. This is evidenced by results of the analysis of open statistical data published by the Institute of Educational Analytics and the Ministry of Education and Science.
Ternopil oblast
Ternopil City Council reported that since the beginning of the year, 2,952 defenders of the community have received financial aid for equipment from the community.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
During an air alarm signal, the Air Defense Forces shot down 2 enemy drones. As a result of the attack, minor damage was caused to the elevator structures. There were no casualties or injuries.
Chernivtsi oblast
The Social Adaptation and Sustainability Space was opened at Vyzhnytskyi City Council’s Center for Provision of Social Services. From now on, community residents and IDPs will be able to receive not only 15 out of 18 basic social services, but also qualified assistance from specialists of the Sustainability Center. The Center employs 2 specialists in social work, a social manager and a psychologist. They provide not only individual consultations, but also conduct group classes to support mental health.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
The US announced a new $425m aid package for Ukraine, which includes munitions for NASAMS; ammunition for HIMARS; Stinger missiles; equipment and ammunition to counter unmanned aerial systems (c-UAS); air-ground ammunition; 155-mm and 105-mm artillery shells; TOW missiles; Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank complexes; Stryker armoured personnel carriers; firearms, ammunition, medical and other equipment.
Australia sent several Joint Direct Attack Munition Extended-Range (JDAM-ER) planing bombs to Ukraine. This was immediately after they were withdrawn from the service of the Royal Australian Air Force.
Ukraine and the EU agreed to increase the possibility of importing electricity in winter. From 1 December, the maximum capacity for importing electricity from EU countries will be 2.1 GW instead of 1.7 GW. This will increase the stability of the Ukrainian energy system.
Ukrenergo received a EUR 10m grant from the EBRD. They will be directed to cover the company’s critical operational costs and maintain liquidity.
Andrii Sybiha, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, announced that one of the countries of the world has expressed its readiness to become a patron state for citizens of Ukraine who are detained on the territory of the russian federation.
