Since the beginning of the day, a total of 136 combat engagements have taken place along the frontline. Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy, eliminating personnel and systematically degrading its combat potential through sustained fire strikes.
The enemy carried out 56 airstrikes, dropped 163 guided aerial bombs, deployed 5,605 kamikaze drones, and conducted 2,691 shelling attacks on populated areas and Ukrainian military positions.
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Russian forces launched two airstrikes, dropped three aerial bombs, and carried out 105 shelling attacks, including five using multiple launch rocket systems. In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attempted one assault near Vovchanski Khutory. No offensive actions were recorded in the Kupiansk direction.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attacks toward Stavky, Drobysheve, Lyman, and the area of Serednie. In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy attempted to advance 11 times near Platonivka, Zakytne, Riznykivka, and toward Ozerne. No offensive actions were reported in the Kramatorsk direction. In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian forces carried out ten assaults near Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Sofiivka, and toward Illinivka.
The Pokrovsk direction remains one of the most intense, with 21 enemy attacks recorded. Russian troops attempted to advance near Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and toward Novopavlivka and Shevchenko. Two engagements are still ongoing. According to preliminary data, 27 Russian soldiers were eliminated and 18 wounded in this sector today. Ukrainian forces destroyed one artillery system, two vehicles, two units of special equipment, and a fuel depot, while damaging four artillery systems, seven vehicles, three units of special equipment, and 62 enemy shelters. Additionally, 156 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were destroyed or suppressed.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, the enemy launched five attacks near Ternove and Zlahoda, while Ivanivka and Havrylivka were subjected to airstrikes. In the Huliaipole direction, 37 attacks were recorded near Huliaipole, Zelene, and toward Tsvitkove, Zaliznychne, Varvarivka, Sviatopetrivka, Huliaipilske, and Staroukrainka. Airstrikes were also carried out near Barvinivka, Vozdvyzhivka, Charivne, Dolynka, and Liubytske. Four engagements in this sector are ongoing. In the Orikhiv direction, one combat engagement took place near Plavni. No offensive actions were recorded in the Prydniprovske direction, although the enemy conducted an airstrike on Kozatske.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Over the past 24 hours, 145 combat engagements have been recorded along the frontline.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, the enemy attempted three times to break through Ukrainian defensive lines near Prylipka and toward Zybyne. In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces carried out three attacks toward Pishchane, Petropavlivka, and Hlushkivka.
The Dvorichna community continues to suffer constant Russian strikes, including drone attacks. Since autumn 2025, there has been no access to the community. Up to 200 residents remain there, according to the head of the local military administration, Halyna Turbaba.
A Russian UAV struck the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv. Preliminary reports indicate that the drone hit a multi-apartment residential building. Medics provided assistance to a 10-year-old girl who experienced severe stress.
Over the past day, the city of Kharkiv and nine settlements in the Kharkiv region came under enemy fire. Six people were injured. In Kharkiv, women aged 75, 69, and 53 suffered acute stress reactions. In the settlement of Vilshany (Solonytsivka community), a 75-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman experienced severe stress. In the village of Husynka (Kindrashivka community), a 74-year-old man was wounded.
The enemy attacked the Kyivskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Saltivskyi districts of Kharkiv with drones. Russian forces actively used various types of weapons against the region, including two guided aerial bombs (KAB), eight “Geran-2” UAVs, two “Molniya” UAVs, one FPV drone, and 33 additional UAVs of unspecified type.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed. In Kharkiv, a multi-apartment building, three dormitories, windows of a children’s hospital and a store, a park, and an administrative building were damaged. In the Bohodukhiv district (Zolochiv), power lines, an educational institution, and a cemetery were damaged. In the Kupiansk district, a hotel in Hrushivka and a private house in Husynka were damaged. In the Izium district, a vehicle was damaged in Yaremivka. In the Kharkiv district (Vilshany), four private houses and a vehicle were damaged.
The transit evacuation center in Lozova received 68 people over the past day. Since the center began operating, 20,896 people have been registered there.
Last week, it became known that six residents of the Kharkiv region died as a result of Russian strikes. Three of them were killed earlier, on February 20 and 22, and the remains of another victim were discovered during debris removal in Malynivka, Chuhuiv district. Over the week, 36 people were injured. Doctors also provided medical assistance to a man wounded on February 2 in Osynove, Kupiansk district.
Following the deaths of police officers from the special unit “White Angels,” evacuations from frontline communities in the Kharkiv region have not been suspended. However, volunteer evacuation crews are now operating under updated safety protocols, according to Yevhen Koliada, head of the Coordination Humanitarian Center.
Donetsk oblast
At 08:14, Russian forces shelled Kramatorsk with artillery. A vegetable warehouse came under fire. A торговельний pavilion and a civilian vehicle were damaged.
On March 1, police recorded 1,534 enemy strikes along the frontline and in residential areas of the region.
Five settlements were under fire: the cities of Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, and Sloviansk, as well as the settlement of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka.
At least 13 civilian objects were damaged, including nine residential buildings.
In Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Russian troops killed one civilian and damaged two private houses.
Kramatorsk was attacked with five drones of various types, damaging one multi-apartment building, four private houses, and two gas stations.
Druzhkivka was struck with six KAB-250 guided aerial bombs. Preliminary reports indicate damage to two private houses; the full extent of destruction is still being assessed.
Sloviansk was attacked with an “Italmas” UAV, resulting in damage to three multi-apartment buildings, a municipal enterprise, and a boiler facility.
Authorities also confirmed information about one person killed in Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka and one injured in Druzhkivka as a result of shelling on February 28.
Police evacuated five children aged 5 to 17 from Mykolaivka along with their parents. Russian forces continuously attack the frontline city with bombs and various types of drones, and roads are also targeted. To ensure the children’s safe evacuation, electronic warfare systems were used.

Luhansk oblast
Yesterday, Russian forces launched 20 attacks in the Sloviansk direction and seven more in the Lyman direction. They attempted to advance near ten settlements. In this sector of the frontline, the enemy opened mortar fire on ten occasions and used various types of drones in five cases.
Since February, in Sievierodonetsk, the occupying authorities have allowed residents to submit documents for an old-style international passport once a week. Previously, this service was only available by traveling to another city. Now, residents must stand in line on Wednesdays. With no internet access, online registration is, of course, impossible. After some time, applicants are promised non-biometric passports valid for only five years. Starting April 1, entry to a number of countries will no longer be permitted with such documents.
An increasing number of complaints are being reported about the poor quality of the local mobile network introduced during the winter in Lysychansk, Rubizhne, and Sievierodonetsk. The occupying authorities claimed they had enabled residents to call emergency services via mobile phones. However, this is only possible in designated areas with network coverage. In other locations, the emergency call function does not work.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
In Kyiv, approximately 1,000 residential buildings currently remain without heating, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration. Of these, around 900 are located on the left bank of the capital. A technical solution has already been identified to restore heat supply to these buildings. Another 100 buildings remain in аварійний condition due to damage to internal heating systems and external supply networks.
On March 2, stabilization power outages will be in effect in the Kyiv region, according to DTEK. Some consumer groups are expected to have electricity throughout the day.
Ukrainian serviceman, photographer, and cinematographer Vadym Tykhonovskyi was killed at the front, the Educational and Scientific Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv reported. He was born on November 21, 1996, in Kyiv. In 2019, he graduated from the Department of Film and Television Arts. Vadym collaborated with Kyiv theaters, creating reports on theatrical performances and cultural events, including the Scenography Biennale. On July 22, 2025, he went missing during a combat mission near the village of Kindrativka in the Sumy region. His death has recently been officially confirmed.
In the Kyiv region, the Buzivskyi Academic Lyceum has been restored after its building was nearly 80% damaged during hostilities in 2022. The school sustained about twenty direct hits from heavy weapons. Today, the lyceum has been rebuilt almost entirely from scratch, funded through the state program supported by the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression of the Russian Federation, according to the regional military administration. While reconstruction was ongoing, students were forced to study in alternative premises, combining in-person and remote learning.
On March 1, the weekly reminder action “Don’t Be Silent! Captivity Kills” took place in Kyiv. Several hundred relatives of prisoners of war and missing servicemen gathered in the Podil district. Participants displayed flags bearing portraits of prisoners of war and missing persons, as well as the brigades in which they had served. Passing drivers honked their horns in support.
Zhytomyr oblast
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited the 95th Separate Air Assault Polissia Brigade in Zhytomyr and presented awards to around twenty service members, the brigade’s press service reported. The awards were given to soldiers actively engaged in combat missions.
On March 2, Zhytomyr held a farewell ceremony for Ukrainian servicewoman Maria Bihun (Leut), call sign “Mriya.” She was 25 years old. Maria was killed on February 21, 2026, while carrying out a combat mission in the Kharkiv direction, according to Olha Yurchenko, director of the Zhytomyr City Center for Social Services.
After the full-scale invasion, Maria joined volunteer efforts and, from March 1, 2022, became part of Kyiv’s Territorial Defense Forces. She served as a rifleman and UAV operator. Maria was awarded the Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief’s “Golden Cross” and the “War Veteran – Combat Participant” medal. Her husband, fellow serviceman Roman Bihun, had previously died in November 2023 while on a combat mission.
Sumy oblast
Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of Sumy City Military Administration, said that on 2 March, a 60-year-old passenger of public transport was injured in Sumy during a russian UAV attack. The driver applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and performed wound packing until an ambulance arrived. The woman was hospitalised.
The State Emergency Service reported that on 2 March, russian forces struck Sumy city. A non-residential premises was damaged and caught fire. Due to the threat of repeated attacks, rescuers were forced to suspend operations twice. All fire outbreaks were extinguished.
According to Acting Mayor Artem Kobzar, the strike occurred in Zarichnyi district of Sumy. As a result of the attack, the roof of a non-residential building was destroyed and windows were shattered.

Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of Sumy City Military Administration, informed that in the second half of 2 March, russian servicemen again attacked Sumy, damaging a civilian infrastructure facility and an adjacent building in the Zarichnyi district. The impact caused a fire.
According to Serhii Kryvosheienko, Head of Sumy City Military Administration, on the evening of 1 March, a russian Molniia-type UAV attacked Sumy. As a result of the strike in the private sector of Kovpakivskyi district, residential houses were damaged. An 87-year-old woman was injured and received medical assistance at the scene. Four houses were damaged and 12 window units were shattered.

According to the website “Pravoslavna Sumshchyna”, on 1 March, Strytenskyi Church in Sumy city was also damaged as a result of russian shelling. russian UAV strikes near the church damaged the exterior of the building and caused significant destruction to the fence. Previous strikes had shattered window panes and damaged the dome and roof of the church.
The Regional Military Administration reported that as of the morning of 2 March, four people were injured over the past day as a result of russian attacks across Sumy oblast. In Sumy community, women aged 58 and 87 suffered acute stress reactions following an enemy UAV attack. In Velyka Pysarivka community, a 40-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were injured in an enemy drone strike.
A 41-year-old man who had been injured on 28 February in an enemy UAV strike in Mykolaivka rural community died in hospital.
From the morning of 1 March to the morning of 2 March, russian forces carried out more than 90 attacks on 25 settlements across 11 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used artillery, MLRS, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted 20 hours and 28 minutes over the past day.
Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:
- In Seredyna-Buda community, a private residential house, outbuildings, a vehicle, a tractor and a civilian infrastructure facility were damaged;
- In Znob-Novhorodske community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- In Bilopillia community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;
- In Sumy community, private residential houses, an outbuilding and non-residential premises were damaged.
Over the past day, 11 people were evacuated by local authorities in cooperation with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police and civil society organisations from border communities.
The National Police of Sumy oblast informed that in Sumy, police explosive ordnance disposal specialists neutralised a russian quadcopter carrying a shaped-charge munition. It was discovered on the roof of a building.
Chernihiv oblast
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Oblast Military Administration, reported that over the past week, air defence forces shot down 101 strike UAVs in the skies over Chernihiv oblast.
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that on the morning of 2 March, russian forces twice attacked civilian infrastructure in the border town of Semenivka by drones. Additional information on the consequences of the attack is being clarified.
Pavlo Miroshnychenko, Head of Koriukivka Regional Military Administration, informed that during the night of 2 March, russian forces attacked Velykyi Shchymel village. As a result of two drone strikes, a private residential house caught fire. In the morning, the body of the homeowner, born in 1939, was found at the scene of the fire.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment reported that during the day on 1 March, russian forces attacked three border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (six explosions), launched a Molniia-type UAV (one explosion), attacked by FPV drones (11 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (five explosions). Ten settlements were under enemy fire.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
On the night of March 2, the Dnipropetrovsk region came under another drone attack. The air raid alert lasted for several hours. Explosions were reported in Kryvyi Rih, where air defense systems were actively operating. According to preliminary information, infrastructure facilities and an industrial enterprise were damaged. Information regarding possible casualties is being уточнено.
Regional authorities also reported a rise in water levels in local reservoirs. An increase of up to 26 cm has been recorded and remains under constant monitoring by emergency services.
Hourly power outage schedules are currently in effect across the region due to strain on the energy system following the attacks.
Kirovohrad oblast
Air raid alerts were also issued in the Kirovohrad region during the nighttime drone attack. Air defense forces were operating in central Ukraine. No emergencies or destruction have been officially reported in the region.
In Kropyvnytskyi, a schedule of planned hourly power outages for March 2 has been published. The outages are being implemented according to designated time slots.
Poltava oblast
The Poltava region was under air raid alert on the night of March 2. Air defense systems were engaged against enemy aerial targets over Ukraine. As of the morning, no significant damage has been reported.
Hourly power outage schedules are in effect in Kremenchuk and other communities across the region. Energy providers urge residents to use electricity responsibly during peak demand hours.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ruslan Muzychuk, Spokesman for the National Guard, reported that an increase in the intensity of military clashes is observed in Hulyaipil region, while the Defense Forces of Ukraine were able to stabilize the situation and are conducting counterattacks.
In Zaporizhia region, 2 people were injured as a result of an enemy attack. russians struck Komyshuvas with guided bombs. As a result, private houses and non-residential buildings were destroyed and damaged. Fires also broke out. A 61-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man were injured. Medics provided them with the necessary assistance.
A major renovation of a shelter in one of the medical institutions in Zaporizhzhia has been completed and barrier-free conditions have been created for patients with limited mobility. The work was carried out with the support of international partners, and the total cost of the project was about UAH 8m.
In Zaporizhzhia, 86 more residents whose homes were damaged by shelling will receive compensation from the state. The total amount of assistance is over UAH 7m.
With the warming weather in Zaporizhzhia oblast, the invincibility points are ending their 24-hour duty. From now on, they will operate in an operational readiness mode: in the event of an emergency, they will be able to be deployed within 2 hours.
India Hicks, British designer, writer, public figure, and goddaughter of King Charles III, visited Zaporizhzhia. Since the 1st days of the full-scale invasion, she has been actively supporting Ukraine, joining humanitarian and volunteer initiatives. While in Zaporizhzhia, India Hicks met with children from Enerhodar who were forced to leave their homes due to the occupation. India also visited people with disabilities to hear firsthand about their needs during this difficult period. The visit also delivered humanitarian aid to the frontline areas of the oblast.
Mykolaiv oblast
In Mykolaiv oblast, a private house caught fire as a result of another russian attack. The enemy strike was carried out in the middle of the day. According to preliminary data, the occupiers used an FPV drone to target a residential building. A fire broke out immediately at the point of arrival. There were no casualties or injuries. The State Emergency Service involved 4 personnel and one unit of special equipment in the elimination of the consequences.
Oleksandr Ursolov, Director of the Self-financing Construction Mechanization Site KP, announced that in Mykolaiv, the limited mode of operation of street lights will remain at least until April. Only key road infrastructure facilities will be illuminated.
Odesa oblast
As a result of a drone strike on civilian infrastructure in Odessa, damage was recorded on the territory of 2 households. A large-scale fire broke out at the site of the strike, which was extinguished by rescue units. There were no casualties among the population.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine, for personal courage and selfless actions shown in the defense of state sovereignty, Junior Sergeant Denis Prodanov was awarded with the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously). The order was presented to the family of the deceased.
Kherson oblast
Over the past 24 hours, six settlements in Kherson community have come under enemy fire. Kherson, Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Sadovoe, Inzhenerne and Komyshany were under fire from russian artillery and drone attacks. The attacks damaged private and multi-story buildings, 2 educational institutions and cars. 4 people were killed and 3 more were injured in the community as a result of russian strikes.
Over the past day, the settlements of Beryslav, Novoraysk, Tyahynka, Novooleksandrivska and Mylivska communities have been under enemy fire.The occupiers attacked Beryslav, Novoraysk, Tyahynka, Lviv, Olhivka, Burhunka, Virivka, Chervone, Novokayry and Nova Kam’ianka. Beryslav, Tyahynka, Lviv, Olhivka and Burhunka were subjected to artillery shelling. The enemy actively used unmanned aerial vehicles to attack most of the mentioned settlements. As a result of the shelling, residential buildings and outbuildings of local residents were damaged. 2 men, aged 49 and 48, were injured in a UAV attack in the village of Novokayry. The injured were provided with necessary medical assistance.
Yaroslav Shanko, Head of Kherson CMA, reported that in February, as a result of shelling by the russian army in Kherson community, 9 people were killed. Another 128 residents were injured to varying degrees, including 1 child.
Kherson received the 1st tranche of a humanitarian convoy from the partner city of Stavanger (Norway). The 1st batch of humanitarian aid includes 4 industrial generators, 17 small-capacity generators and 135 boxes of adult diapers.
A delegation from the UN World Food Program visited Kherson oblast. A number of large-scale food security projects are currently being implemented in the oblast. Food packages have reached over 57,000 residents. Thanks to cooperation with local bakeries, almost 46,000 people in front-line areas receive fresh bread every week.
The 3rd location within the all-Ukrainian initiative Routes of Memory was opened in Kherson. Namely, in the regional lyceum, where one of the battles for Kherson took place in the first days of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The first two locations of the Routes of Memory were opened last year. These are Freedom Square and Bezkovy Hai.

In August 2024, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was killed on 3 October 2024 near Synkivka, Kharkiv oblast. For his personal courage and self-sacrifice, Volodymyr Spas was awarded with the III degree For Courage Order (posthumously).
Rivne oblast
38,000 consultations were provided in the Centers of Psychosocial Support of Rivne Oblast. There are 4 Centers of Psychosocial Support in Rivne Oblast. They operate in Zdolbuniv, Dubna, Volodymyrka and Sarny. They help overcome the consequences of the war free of charge and provide support to various categories of the population, but primarily to military personnel, families of deceased or missing soldiers and internally displaced persons.
Ternopil oblast
12 Ternopil defenders will receive a one-time cash grant for treatment and rehabilitation. Since the beginning of the year, 69 servicemen have received funds.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi community donated 3 off-road pickup trucks to the 106th Brigade. They are most often used for mobile fire groups, anti-shahid work, etc.
Chernivtsi oblast
Yurii Dariy, resident of the village of Banyliv-Pidhirnyi, Storozhynetsk community, received a high departmental award – the Cross of Valor by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The Hero has been defending Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the most difficult front lines since 2022.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
