It has been the 1467  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm: 

The aggressor’s attempts to advance deep into the territory of Ukraine continue. In certain sectors of the front, the occupiers are conducting assault operations. The Defense Forces are holding back the enemy, inflicting significant losses, and thwarting attempts to improve their positions.

On 1 March, the number of aggressor attacks was 51.

Shelling of border areas continues. In Sumy oblast, the settlements of Rohizne, Volfyne, Budky, Kucherivka, Zarichne, and Ulanove were affected. The enemy also shelled Kliusy, Khrinivka, Hrumiach, and Bohdanove in Chernihiv oblast.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, the enemy launched one airstrike, dropped four aerial bombs, and carried out 65 shellings of settlements and positions of our troops, seven of which involved the use of MLRS.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the adversary attacked twice in the vicinity of Prylipka and Zybine. One combat engagement is ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, the adversary moved forward three times near Pishchane, Petropavlivka, and Hlushkivka. One battle is ongoing.

Towards Lyman, Ukrainian warriors repelled three attempts by the invaders to advance near the settlements of Drobysheve and Dibrova, and in the vicinity of Zarichne.

Towards Sloviansk, the aggressor attacked six times in the vicinity of the settlements of Yampil, Zakitne, and Riznykivka.

Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders carried out six offensive actions in the vicinity of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Berestok, Rusyn Yar, and Sofiivka.

Towards Pokrovsk, the occupiers have tried 14 times to push our warriors from their positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Shakhove, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and Bilytske. One combat engagement is still ongoing.

Towards Oleksandrivka, the enemy went on the offensive three times in the vicinity of the settlements of Vorone, Ternove, and Stepove. Pysantsi and Velykomykhailivka were hit by enemy airstrikes.

Towards Huliaipole, there were 13 attacks in the vicinity of Huliaipole and Myrne, Zaliznychne and Staroukrainka. The enemy launched airstrikes in the vicinity of the settlements of Vozdvizhivka, Samiilivka, Holubkove, and Charivne. Three combat engagements are ongoing.

Towards Orikhiv, one combat engagement with the enemy is ongoing near Plavni. Komyshuvakha, Veselianka, and Malokaterynivka were hit by airstrikes.

Towards Kherson, no active offensive actions by the enemy were recorded; however, the adversary launched an airstrike on Prydniprovske.

In other directions, no significant changes in the situation are currently occurring. No enemy attempts to advance are recorded.

Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat engagement and in the rear.

  

 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

There were 158 combat engagements in the oblast.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the adversary stormed the positions of our units seven times in the vicinity of the settlements of Pokrovka, Prylipka, Vovchanski Khutory, Chuhunivka and towards Zybine.

Towards Kupiansk, there were five attacks by the invaders. The Defense Forces repelled the enemy’s assault actions towards Kindrashivka, Pishchane, Hlushkivka, Kurylivka, and in the vicinity of Borivska Andriivka.

Anna Hontar, regional administration spokesperson, reports that a 51-year-old man sustained explosive injuries to his left shoulder and thigh as a result of a Russian drone hit in the vicinity of Anyskyne of the Vilkhuvatka hromada on the night of 1 March.

 Bohdan Hladkykh, Director of the city department of emergency situations, says that starting from 05:00 on 1 March, the russian army struck six locations in Kharkiv with drones: hits were recorded in the Saltivskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Kyivskyi districts. According to him, russians used Molniia, Shahed, and Gerbera type UAVs. Another strike by an attack drone in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv was recorded around nine in the morning.

According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, in Saltivskyi district, a hit was recorded in a park; there is damage, and windows were partially blown out in surrounding buildings. There are no injuries.

A fire covering an area of 10 square meters broke out due to a Shahed type UAV hitting the technical floor of a dormitory in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv, reported Bohdan Hladkykh. A window frame and a generator caught fire, and several windows were also damaged. Utility services are working at the site.

The number of victims in Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv was three. Another woman suffered an acute stress reaction. Medics are providing the 53-year-old victim with all necessary assistance.

Over the past day, the city of Kharkiv and 20 settlements in Kharkiv oblast were hit by enemy strikes. As a result of the shelling, 7 people were injured.

In the vicinity of Rozsokhuvate of Kunie community, two 20-year-old men and one 25-year-old man were injured; in the vicinity of Oskil, a 66-year-old woman was injured; in the vicinity of Anyskyne of the Vilkhuvatka hromada, a 51-year-old man was injured.

In the city of Kharkiv today, 75-year-old and 69-year-old women were injured.

The enemy attacked Kholodnohirskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Saltivskyi, and Kyivskyi districts of Kharkiv.

The enemy actively used various types of weaponry across Kharkiv oblast: 

▪️1 MLRS rocket; 

▪️1 Iskander missile; 

▪️1 missile (type being established); 

▪️3 KABs; 

▪️13 Geran-2 type UAVs; 

▪️2 Molniia type UAVs; 

▪️1 FPV-drone; 

▪️47 UAVs (type being established).

Civilian infrastructure objects were damaged and destroyed: 

▪️in the city of Kharkiv, a dormitory, store windows, and a fence were damaged; 

▪️in Bohodukhiv region, electrical grids (Maksymivka) and an outbuilding (Kalynove) were damaged; 

▪️in Kupiansk region, 2 private houses (Holubivka), a hotel (Hrushivka), and a cultural center (Pidserednie) were damaged; 

▪️in Izium region, 18 private houses, electrical grids, a school (Izium), a car (Rozsokhuvate), and a private house (Oskil) were damaged; 

▪️in Chuhuiv region, a farm was damaged, animals were affected (Shestakove), a car (Ivanivka), and a warehouse (Kamiana Yaruha) were damaged.

The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 98 people over the past day. Since the start of operations, 20,828 people have been registered at the Point.

 

Donetsk oblast

The russian military went on the offensive 25 times towards Pokrovsk in the vicinity of the settlements of Toretske, Nove Shakhove, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Kotlyne, Molodetske, and Filiia, as well as towards Novooleksandrivka, Hryshyne, and Novopidhorodne, according to the General Staff.

Towards Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka, the russian army attacked seven times each, with another six attacks directed towards the city of Lyman.

Mykhailo Trach, commander of the Sapsany drone battalion of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade, reports that favorable weather allowed Ukrainian units to intensify drone operations and partially stabilize the situation towards Kramatorsk, where russian assault groups attempting to infiltrate the rear are detected and destroyed daily.

On 28 February, russia carried out 1,513 strikes along the frontline and the residential sector of the oblast.

Ten settlements were under fire: the cities of Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, and Sloviansk; the settlements of Donetske, Raihorodok, and Sukhanivka; and the village of Lvivka.

79 civilian objects were destroyed, 60 of which were residential buildings.

The russians struck Kostiantynivka with artillery, killing a man.

In Donetske, two civilians were killed.

The enemy attacked Kramatorsk with four drones—two people were injured, and a gas station and an infrastructure object were damaged.

Russian troops dropped six KAB-250 bombs on Druzhkivka and also struck the city with an FPV drone. A civilian was injured, and 5 private houses, an outbuilding, and 5 units of civilian transport were damaged.

One person was injured in Dobropillia as a result of a KAB-250 bomb hit.

In Lvivka, a Lancet UAV hit an express delivery service truck—there is one injured person.

The occupiers directed three “KAB-250” bombs at Sloviansk, damaging 37 private houses and 2 cars. Sukhanivka came under fire from “Smerch” MLRS—17 private houses, a shop, and three civilian cars were damaged. In Mykolaivka, an infrastructure object was damaged; in Raihorodok, a private house was damaged.

 

Luhansk oblast

 

The enemy carried out 12 mortar shellings in Luhansk oblast. They also targeted areas with automatic grenade launchers. Six drones intended to strike the positions of Ukrainian Defenders. The adversary conducted assaults near Novoiehorivka. In total, the Russian invaders attempted to advance 13 times towards Lyman and Sloviansk over the past day. They attacked towards six settlements. Our warriors are courageously holding back the occupiers.

As of 1 January, the Russians have forced entrepreneurs in certain sectors of economic activity in the so-called “lnr” to pay a tourism tax. This applies to 13 cities and districts of Luhansk oblast captured both in 2014 and 2022. The occupiers see tourism potential there capable of filling budgets. This year, the tax rate will be 2%, but it will consistently rise to 5% by 2029.

Healthcare in Sievierodonetsk is in decline. Instead of taking measures at the state level to eliminate the catastrophic shortage of personnel, the Russians are resorting to localized solutions, such as short-term business trips for doctors from the russian federation. For the 14th time, they have sent medical workers from Perm to Sievierodonetsk. According to the invaders, eight people are capable of covering the entire city in a few days.

 

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

 

Zhytomyr oblast

 

Sumy oblast

On the morning of 1 March, a russian UAV struck a road in Kovpakivskyi district of Sumy. Relevant services are working at the scene. No injuries were reported.

Viacheslav Urchyk, driver of a mobile Ukrposhta branch, died in hospital. On 28 February, a russian UAV struck his service vehicle in Mykolaivka rural community. Ihor Smilianskyi, General Director of Ukrposhta reported on 1 March that doctors fought for his life throughout the night, but the injuries proved fatal.

The Regional Military Administration informed that over the past day on 28 February, five civilians were injured as a result of russian shelling in Sumy oblast. In Mykolaivka rural community, two men aged 41 and 82 and a 57-year-old woman were injured in a UAV attack. In Sumy community, a 25-year-old man was injured in an enemy drone strike. In Seredyna-Buda community, a 42-year-old man was injured in an enemy drone attack.

From the morning of 28 February to the morning of 1 March, russian forces carried out more than 90 attacks on 28 settlements across 12 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs and guided aerial bombs. Air raid alerts in the oblast lasted 21 hours and 42 minutes over the past day.

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

  • In Sad community, a civilian infrastructure facility, non-residential premises, vehicles and agricultural transport vehicles were damaged;
  • In Bilopillia community, a private passenger vehicle was damaged;
  • In Mykolaivka rural community, a private residential house and passenger vehicles were damaged;
  • In Lebedynka community, an outbuilding was damaged;
  • In Sumy community, a passenger vehicle and non-residential premises were damaged;
  • In Yampil community, a civilian infrastructure facility, a private residential house and outbuildings were damaged.

 

Chernihiv oblast

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, reported that at approximately 8:45pm. on 28 February, russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in Semenivka. One of the buildings was damaged as a result of the attack. It was the second attack on the city that day. Earlier, at 12:50pm., russian forces struck a facility of one of the city’s forestry enterprises with an FPV drone.

Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that during the day on 28 February, russian forces attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. In total, the enemy carried out 35 strikes. russian forces used a Molniia-type UAV (one explosion), mortars (four explosions), FPV drones and dropped explosive devices from UAVs. Fourteen settlements were under enemy fire.

 

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council said that a 56-year-old man was killed in an FPV drone attack in Mezhove community. A 62-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were injured. A private residential house was damaged.

A UAV strike in Slavhorodsk community caused a fire and damaged a private house. In Novooleksandrivka community, a man was also injured in a UAV attack. Two private houses were damaged.

Occupying forces struck Nikopol by drones and shelled Pokrovske rural community by artillery. In the regional centre, a 46-year-old woman was injured and received the necessary medical assistance. A private house and a vehicle were damaged.

The enemy attacked the regional centre, Myrove, Pokrovske rural and Marhanets communities by drones and artillery.

In Myrove community, women aged 40 and 42 were injured and hospitalised in serious and moderate condition. A fire broke out. Five private houses, two vehicles, a garage, an outbuilding, a gas pipeline and a power line were damaged. As a result of previous attacks in Nikopol, two additional private houses were damaged. Occupying forces struck Malomykhailivka community by an FPV drone. A 66-year-old man was injured. russian forces attacked Zelenodolsk and Karpivska communities by drones. A shop and infrastructure facilities were damaged.

 

Kirovohrad oblast

A motor rally and a demonstration in support of captured defenders of Mariupol garrison and other servicemen held in russian captivity or considered missing were held in Kropyvnytskyi.

Vinnytsia oblast

A 67-year-old resident of Yampil, Svitlana Kraievska, produced more than 50 kilograms of energy bars for servicemen.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On the Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions, the Defense Forces repelled 23 Russian attacks, with four more ongoing, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported. Fighting was recorded in the areas of Huliaipole, Myrne, toward Zaliznychne, Dobropillia, Staroukrainka, and near Plavni.

A 67-year-old driver was injured as a result of an FPV drone strike by Russian forces on a vehicle in Orikhiv, according to the Head of the Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.

On the Huliaipole direction, the Defense Forces repelled 45 Russian attacks over the past day, February 28, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported. Combat engagements were recorded in the areas of Huliaipole, Myrne, and toward Staroukrainka, Zelene, Dobropillia, Pryluky, Zaliznychne, Sviatopetrivka, and Varvarivka.

Over the past day, February 28, the Russian army launched more than 781 strikes on the territory of 36 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia region, according to the Head of the Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov. One person was killed and two others were injured as a result of a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia district.

Mykolaiv oblast

On the evening of February 28, the Russian army attacked Mykolaiv with Shahed-type UAVs, the Regional Military Administration reported. As a result of the attack, a 65-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction. She received medical assistance on site. Windows and roofs of six private houses, three vehicles, and a cultural facility were damaged.

Yesterday, Russian forces carried out nine FPV drone attacks on the Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities, the Regional Military Administration reported. There were no casualties.

Odesa oblast

In the Odesa region, air defense forces shot down 42 Shahed- and Gerbera-type unmanned aerial vehicles as of the morning of March 1, the Regional Military Administration reported.

Overall, 49 drones of these types were neutralized in the southern region.

Kherson oblast

At around 10:00 a.m., Russian occupying forces struck the Korabelnyi district of Kherson, the Regional Military Administration reported. As a result of the shelling, a 58-year-old man sustained blast injuries and a head wound.

Volyn oblast

The youth of the village of Bortnyky donated UAH 10,000 for camouflage fabric. Father Oleh Dutka, rector of the Church of St. Jacob of the UGCC in Strii, together with parishioners, donated over UAH 5,000 for car repairs for the military. Volunteer Natalia Palenychka, with the help of those who care, raised funds for a car for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The family of Hero Volodymyr Shynkar once again joined the collection – UAH 26,000 and Krzyw-bud – UAH 26,000.

Rivne oblast

1078 times the air raid alert has sounded in Rivne oblast since the beginning of the war. Summarizing February: 50 alerts (January – 35); the longest – 7 February (lasting 6 h 6 min); the maximum silence regime was twice – 13-16 February and 23-25 February.

Ternopil oblast

Military personnel of Ternopil community will receive funds in the amount of UAH 15,000 for treatment and rehabilitation. During 2026, 57 military personnel received such assistance.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that in the city, UAH 27m was allocated to begin construction of new shelters in Gymnasium 30 and Kindergarten 15.

Chernivtsi oblast

The rehabilitation department of Novoselytsia Hospital in Bukovina uses virtual reality glasses. They help soldiers recover emotionally and psychologically. 2 sets of virtual reality glasses for the rehabilitation department were donated by benefactors. The software for them was developed by Ukrainian programmers

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

New Zealand will provide $5m in humanitarian assistance to international partners supporting Ukrainian civilians affected by the war. An additional $3m will be channeled to the Ukraine Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform Fund managed by the World Bank. This brings New Zealand’s total humanitarian assistance to Ukraine over the past four years to $45m. New Zealand is also implementing its 34th round of sanctions against russia.
