It has been the 1194 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the advance of russian occupiers. On 1 June, there were 83 combat clashes with the russian aggressor.

Communities from the border areas with the russian federation were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire, in particular the settlements of Myropilske, Prokhody, Pokrovka, Popivka, Porozok, Studenok, Sosnivka, Turya, Novovasylivka, Prohres, Luhivka, Bobylivka, Velyka Pysarivka in Sumy oblast.

Towards Kharkiv, the Defense Forces are repelling an enemy attack near Fiholivka.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked six times in the vicinity of the settlements of Stepova Novoselivka and Nova Kruhliakivka, one combat clash is currently ongoing.

Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out nine attacks on Ukrainian positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Nadiia, Ridkodub and Yampil; two clashes are still ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers are holding their defenses steadfastly and inflicting losses on the enemy.

Towards Siversk, the enemy attacked in the vicinity of Hryhorivka and near Bilohorivka and Zolotarivka. In total, Ukrainian soldiers repelled four assault actions by the invader units.

Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy stormed the positions of the Defense Forces in the vicinity of the settlements of Chasiv Yar and towards Bila Hora. Ukrainian defenders stopped one offensive action of the enemy, and two more clashes are currently ongoing.

Towards Toretsk, there were seven clashes in the vicinity of the settlements of Toretsk and Diliivka. The Defense Forces have repelled six enemy attacks, and the battle is currently underway.

Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders made 28 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from the occupied positions near the settlements of Popiv Yar, Myroliubivka, Malynivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Novomykolaivka and Andriivka. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelling 25 enemy attacks, three clashes are ongoing. The enemy carried out airstrikes with guided bombs on Myrnohrad.

Towards Novopavlivka, there were nine enemy attacks in the vicinity of Novosilka, Zelene Pole, Novopol, Vilne Pole, Bohatyr, Kostiantynopol and Odradne, three clashes are ongoing.

Towards Huliaipole, enemy aircraft struck Zaliznychne with unguided missiles.

Towards Orikhiv, defense forces are holding back the attack of the invaders in the vicinity of ​​Stepove. The enemy launched airstrikes on Novoiakovlivka.

Towards Kherson, the invaders launched an airstrike on Olhivka.

Towards Kursk, there were 12 clashes, two of which are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy launched two airstrikes, dropping six anti-aircraft missiles, and carried out 106 artillery attacks on the positions of UKrainian troops and settlements, including three from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the remaining areas, there were no significant changes in the situation.

The SSU reports that more than a third of strategic cruise missile carriers were hit at russian airfields. The estimated cost of strategic aviation within the framework of the SSU operation “Web” is USD 7 billion.

The Air Force reports that on the night of June 1, russia attacked the territory of Ukraine with a record 479 air attack vehicles. 210 enemy Shahed UAVs, 3 X-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles were neutralized, another 172 were lost or suppressed by electronic warfare.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

There were 166 combat clashes.

▪️Towards Kharkiv, the enemy tried six times to break through the defensive lines of our defenders towards the settlement of Lyptsi and near Vovchansk, Zapadne, and Vovchanski Khutory.

▪️ Towards Kupiansk, there were ten attacks by the invaders yesterday. Ukrainian defenders repelled the enemy’s assault actions in the vicinity of the settlements of Pishchane, Stepova Novoselivka, and Zahryzove.

Shelling

Over the past day, 9 settlements in the Kharkiv oblast were subjected to enemy strikes.

▪️ As a result of the shelling, 15 people were injured.

In the village of Bezliudivka, women aged 75, 65, 78, 66 and men aged 50, 57, and 64 were injured; in the village of Vovchanski Khutory of Vovchansk community, a 65-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman were injured; in the village of Novooleksandrivka of Vovchansk community, a 47-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man were injured; in the city of Kupiansk, a 63-year-old woman was killed and a 65-year-old man injured; in the village of Vasyshcheve of Bezliudivka community, a 32-year-old man was injured; in the city of Lozova, a 45-year-old woman was injured.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons in the oblast:

▪️ 1 missile (type is being determined);

▪️ 4 GABs;

▪️ 13 UAVs of the Geran-2 type;

▪️ 6 UAVs of the Shahed type; and

▪️ 1 FPV drone.

Civil infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

▪️ In Kharkiv region, 17 private houses, a car, enterprise buildings, an administrative building, a service station, and power grids were damaged;

▪️ In Kupiansk region, a private house and an administrative building were damaged;

▪️ In Lozova region, a workshop building of an educational institution, glazing of an apartment building, and power grids were damaged;

▪️ In Izium region, a private house, an apartment building, a car, and 2 enterprises were damaged.

Donetsk oblast

Shelling

Over the past 24 hours, the police recorded 3,608 enemy strikes on the front line and residential areas. 16 settlements were under fire.

66 civilian objects were destroyed, including 42 residential buildings.

The enemy struck Rodynske with a GAB-250 air bomb and a drone – one person was killed, one was injured, 3 apartment buildings, a bakery, and cars were damaged.

In Pokrovsk, a civilian was injured and an educational institution was destroyed as a result of shelling.

The occupiers dropped 2 GAB-250 air bombs on Sloviansk – 2 civilians were injured, 32 homes and 3 cars were damaged.

In Novodonetske, the russian army attacked with a Geran-2 UAV – two people were injured, infrastructure facility and 3 civilian cars damaged.

In Mykolaipillia, Kramatorsk region, russians injured a civilian, and damaged a private house.

Luhansk oblast

The invaders tried to make attempts to advance near Hrekivka and in Serebrianka Forest. there Ukrainian fighters are holding their defenses, despite constant attacks and shelling from the enemy. So, yesterday russians used 121 drones on the Ukrainian front line. They had artillery support four times and carried out four air strikes.

Initial military training by the invaders was mandatory introduced in 52 Cossack classes opened in 28 schools of the so-called “llpr”. From September 1, the number of such classes will increase. About 1,300 children are being trained for war there. This does not include those who study in full-fledged Cossack corps operating throughout the occupied Luhansk oblast.

The invaders liquidated the water utility in Siverskodonetsk, as a legal entity, back in late April. Over the past month, the population that remains in the city has been constantly complaining about the lack of water. Since then, the pressure in the water supply system has been significantly reduced. Water does not reach not only the upper floors, but also many houses. Complete shutdowns have become a common occurrence, but they occur without any schedule.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The regional military administration reports that at night, the enemy launched a massive attack on Kyiv oblast, combining UAVs, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. The forces of unmanned systems managed to intercept 15 enemy drones.

As a result of the enemy attack in Bila Tserkva region, 10 private houses were damaged. The RMA reports that their windows were broken, facades cut and roofs damaged. All homeowners will be provided with the necessary assistance.

The Ukrainian Women’s Guard, within the framework of the project “Mine Safety: Lives Saved”, held a training course in Kyiv for 2nd grade students of Lyceum No. 183 “Fortuna”. Training on the risks associated with handling explosive objects is part of the UZHV’s efforts to raise awareness among the youngest Ukrainians about the dangers that may lurk in the environment.

An action in support of captured and missing Ukrainian military personnel was held near the “Palace of Ukraine” metro station in Kyiv.

Zhytomyr oblast

At night, Zhytomyr oblast suffered one of the largest attacks by Russians using strike drones and missiles. According to the RMA about 10 objects were damaged: private residential buildings and utility buildings, a civilian enterprise. Work is currently underway to eliminate the consequences of enemy shelling. In the morning, a fire broke out in  Zhytomyr region as a result of enemy shelling. The regional State Emergency Service reports that 80 sq m of the roof of the enterprise building burned. The fire was extinguished in half an hour.

In Zhytomyr, veterans with amputees have been training for more than three months with the Titans football team of the Catholic sports club Don Bosco. The team is currently preparing for the Ukrainian Indoor Football Championship “League of the Strong”, which will be held in September 2025. This was announced by the coach of the Titans indoor football team and invited veterans from Zhytomyr and the region to join.

 

Sumy oblast

 Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that throughout the day, from the morning of 31 May to the morning of 1 June, russian forces carried out over 100 shellings across 36 settlements in 15 territorial communities. The most intense attacks were recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (nearly 10 strikes) and UAV-dropped explosive devices (over 10 drops). Additionally, russian forces launched UAV, FPV-drone, and missile strikes on Sumy oblast.

In Nova Slobidka community, a private residential house was damaged due to russian shelling.

Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and community organizations from border areas, evacuated 165 people.

Andrii Druzhchenko, Head of Vorozhbianka community, informed that due to intensified russian shelling on 31 May, mandatory evacuation was announced for 11 villages in Sumy region. Among them are Tsymbalivka and Shkurativka in Vorozhbianka community, where 59 children are to be evacuated. As of the morning of 1 June, eight children have already been evacuated from Shkurativka elderate.

According to Yurii Zarko, Head of Bilopillia community, by the end of May 2025, only 2,000 residents remained in Bilopillia out of the 16,000 who lived there before the full-scale invasion. Due to intensified russian shelling, mandatory evacuation was announced on 31 May for three more villages in the community: Shtanivka, Voronivka, and Yanchenky.

The Regional Military Administration announced that in Sumy, construction is underway for a radiation-proof shelter that will also serve as a learning space. This is the second underground school in the city, designed to accommodate 500 people.

 

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that throughout 31 May, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out shelling by barrel artillery (2 explosions), launched strikes by Molniya aircraft-type UAVs (2 explosions), and FPV-drones (7 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (14 explosions). Eleven settlements came under enemy fire. As a result of FPV-drone strikes on Hremiach village in Novhorod-Siverskyi community, a private house caught fire.

The Regional Military Administration reports that as of 30 May, more than 68,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have been officially registered in Chernihiv oblast. Around 27,000 of them are IDPs from other regions of Ukraine, making up nearly 40% of the total number.

 

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that from evening until morning, the enemy continued to attack Nikopol region with drones and artillery. They targeted the district centre, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets and Pokrovsk communities. A fire broke out. A multi-storey building, a private house and a car were damaged. 

 

During the day, the occupiers attacked Nikopol region more than fifteen times. They used drones and artillery. They targeted the regional centre, Marhanets and Myrove communities. A multi-storey building, a minibus and infrastructure were damaged. The enemy fired a rocket at Samarivka region.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of Kirovograd RMA, reported that on 1 June, Kirovohrad oblast was under another attack by enemy drones. In one of the communities of the Holovanivka region, 16 private households were damaged. Roofs were destroyed, windows and doors were smashed, and fences were damaged.

Poltava oblast

A rally was held in the centre of Poltava to support soldiers who went missing or were taken prisoner. Their relatives and friends gathered, among others.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that at night, defenders shot down 13 russian UAVs in Cherkasy oblast. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Today, russia attacked Zaporizhzhia with at least seven Shahed drones and a missile. The strike damaged three apartment buildings, 29 private houses, ten non-residential buildings, and critical infrastructure facilities. Three people were injured.

Also today, 1 June, russian forces launched three airstrikes with guided aerial bombs (KABs) on the village of Kopani in Vozdvyzhivka community. As a result, one man was killed, and one house was destroyed.

Over the past day, 31 May, the occupiers carried out 501 attacks on 17 populated areas in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy conducted 36 airstrikes on Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Dolynka, Preobrazhenka, Malynivka, Olhivske, Poltavka, Novodarivka, Verkhna Tersa, and Temyrivka. 281 UAVs of various types (mostly FPVs) targeted Zaporizhzhia, Prymorske, Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka. There were 4 MLRS strikes on Kamianske, Shcherbaky, and Charivne. 180 artillery strikes hit Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka. Authorities received 32 reports of damage to apartments, private homes, vehicles, and infrastructure. Four people were injured in the attacks on Polohy region and Zaporizhzhia.

Today, 1 June, russian forces attempted an assault on Ukrainian defense positions towards Orikhiv — Ukrainian forces are currently holding the line. Yesterday, 31 May, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled nine russian attacks towards Orikhiv.

Mykolaiv oblast

Around noon on 1 June, the russian army struck Kutsurub community with FPV drones. As a result of the attack, two people were injured. A private house was also damaged.

During the night of 1 June, russians attacked Mykolaiv oblast with drones. Debris from a downed drone damaged a car and the building of a former outpatient clinic in Pervomaisk region. Air defense forces destroyed 11 Shahed 131/136 UAVs over in Mykolaiv oblast.

On 31 May, and in the morning of 1 June, the enemy carried out three artillery shellings and eight FPV drone attacks on Kutsurub community. As a result of one of the shellings, four settlements were left without electricity, affecting 1,916 consumers. The outage was quickly repaired. A drone attack also damaged an administrative building in the village of Dmytrivka.

On 31 May, and during the night of 1 June, the enemy attacked the waters near the city of Ochakiv four times with FPV drones. There were no casualties.

Odesa oblast

At night, the russians attacked Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi region with strike drones. As a result of the attack, private homes and a building at a recreation center were damaged, and a fire broke out.

As of 6:00 am on 1 June, two enemy carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles were in the Black Sea, with a total salvo of up to 12 missiles. There were three enemy ships in the Mediterranean Sea, including one Kalibr missile carrier with a total salvo of up to 8 missiles.

Over the past day, four vessels serving russian interests passed through the Kerch Strait into the Black Sea, and another eight ships entered the Sea of Azov.

Kherson oblast

The enemy launched an artillery and drone attack on Kherson. Two people were reported killed and seven injured. An elderly woman was killed in Dniprovskyi district as a result of artillery shelling. Two others were wounded: a 64-year-old woman sustained blast and cranial trauma, a concussion, and shrapnel wounds to the parietal area; a 27-year-old man suffered a mine-explosive injury.

Two residents of Kherson became victims of another drone attack in Dniprovskyi district. A 50-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman sustained mine-explosive injuries and shrapnel wounds.

Around 2:30 pm, russian troops attacked Kherson again with a drone. A 38-year-old man sustained a mine-explosive injury, a hip fracture, and shrapnel wounds to the torso.

A 49-year-old resident of Kherson was hit by a drone strike in Dniprovskyi district. He suffered a mine-explosive injury and a shrapnel wound to the thigh.

It is reported that the occupiers dropped explosives from a drone on a 36-year-old man. He was diagnosed with a blast injury, concussion, and head and back wounds.

A 49-year-old local woman was injured due to Russian shelling in Bilozerka. She sustained a blast injury, cranial trauma, a concussion, and a hip bruise.

Two children were injured in a drone attack in Komyshany. Around 5:10 pm, the enemy dropped explosives from a drone on a car carrying two boys, aged 11 and 16. Both sustained mine-explosive and cranial injuries, as well as concussions. The younger boy had a chest wound; the older had injuries to his leg and arm.

In the morning, russian occupation forces attacked a civilian car in Bilozerka with a drone. As a result of the explosion, two people sustained mine-explosive injuries and concussions.

Around 5 am, a resident was hit by a russian drone strike in Beryslav. The 49-year-old man suffered a mine-explosive injury, concussion, and wounds to the head and neck.

Yesterday, the enemy attacked Antonivka, Sadove, Prydniprovskе, Bilozerka, Romashkove, Honcharne, Veletenske, Kizomys, Tomyna Balka, Doslidne, Novodmytrivka, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Poniativka, Tokarivka, Sofiyivka, Stanislav, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Tiahynka, Lvove, Lvivski Otruby, Dudchany, Mylove, Sablukivka, Nova Kamianka, Novovasylivka, Zolota Balka, Mykhailivka, Biliaivka, Havrylivka, Osokorivka, Shevchenkivka, Vesele, Kozatske and the city of Kherson. As a result of the attacks, five apartment buildings, seven private houses, a gas pipeline, outbuildings, and a private car were damaged. One person was killed and eight were injured due to russian aggression.

Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled one enemy attack on Prydniprovskyi front. Over the past day, enemy losses included 126 personnel, 1 tank, 6 cannons, 2 mortars, 33 vehicles and armored equipment, 7 reconnaissance UAVs (Supercam and Zala), 5 motorcycles, 2 buggies, 1 boat, 1 generator, 2 electronic warfare systems, 5 Starlink antennas and 8 drone control antennas. Also, 55 shelters/dugouts, 1 firing position, 1 observation post, 1 drone command post, 5 ammunition storage sites, 1 fuel storage, and 1 property storage were destroyed.

The Global Empowerment Mission, in cooperation with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, provided essential aid to residents of several frontline settlements. Volunteers delivered family food kits to residents of Zorivka and Znamianka in Bilozerka community. They also provided bottled drinking water and food packages to residents of Sofiiivka in Stanislav community. Residents of Kherson, Naddniprianske, and Molodizhne received GEM boxes with food and hygiene kits

Volyn oblast

Zakarpattia oblast

Uzhhorod City Council reported that the III degree For Courage Order was awarded to Serhii Chernioglo, Rifleman-Medic of the Mountain Assault Detachment.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 125 FPV drones to the 81st Slobozhansk Airmobile Brigade.

Lviv oblast

The 1st ChekaFest was organized in Lviv. The charity festival is dedicated to the deceased combat medic, public figure and Hero of Ukraine Iryna Tsybukh. The purpose of the event is to increase the values ​​of the Cheka and to immortalize the memory of her and other defenders. The charitable purpose of the event is to raise funds for medical equipment for the Hospitalier medical battalion.

The RMA reported that residents of the village of Soroky Lvivski of Murovani community raised almost UAH 14,000 for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a charity evening of spiritual songs.

Rivne oblast

865 times the air raid siren sounded in Rivne oblast since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Summing up May: 9 alarms (the same number in April); the longest – 26 May (lasting 6 h 5 min); the shortest – 27 May (6 min); on15  May, the alarm was announced twice; the maximum number of days without sirens – 11 (from 1 to 12 May).

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council reported that iIn 2024, 3,198 military personnel in the city received a one-time cash grant to provide them with equipment and technical means.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

123 military personnel from Khmelnytskyi community received financial assistance for rehabilitation. The total amount of assistance is over UAH 1.7m.

Chernivtsi oblast

The KUPOL FEST charity festival is underway in Putyl. The key goal of the event is to support the Center for Psychological and Physical Rehabilitation of Military Personnel, Veterans, Volunteers and Their Families Kupol Hutsul. The festival takes place at two locations: at the Kupol Hutsul Center in Poliakivske farm and at the Karpaty stadium in Putyl. The event was organized by the public organization of the same name, founded by serviceman Oleh Reveha. The festival program includes cultural, artistic and educational activities.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Pope of Rome handed over a flag and a doll from Kharkiv oblast. On 8 May, Pope Leo XIV held a general audience in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican. Olena Korbko, a volunteer from Kharkiv, was present at this sacred event for many believers. During His Holiness’ meeting with the pilgrims, she handed over to the Pope the flag of Kupiansk and the doll Vilna, made by children from Krasnokutsk.
