Workshop “Light of Emotional Support” for Policewomen, Veterans, and Wives of Defenders by the Ukrainian Women’s Guard

Recently, the team of Ukrainian Women’s Guard held a workshop on making beeswax candles, titled “Light of Emotional Support,” for women who stand strong every day — policewomen, veterans, and wives of defenders.

At a time when Ukrainian women take on responsibility, make difficult decisions, serve, volunteer, and support their families and communities, it is especially important to create spaces for recovery. Spaces where they can momentarily remove their armor and simply be — without roles, without expectations, without the need to control everything 24/7.

This meeting was made particularly special by the trainer — psychologist and Viktoriia Moiseieva, coordinator of the Ukrainian Women’s Guard in Zaporizhzhia. Thanks to her professionalism and sensitivity, an atmosphere of trust, warmth, and safety was created. Participants did not delve into difficult stories — instead, they focused on their inner resources, feelings, and self-care.

The process of making a beeswax candle became a symbolic practice. Each handmade candle is not just a decorative item. It serves as a reminder of the inner light that does not go out, even when a storm rages around. A reminder of the strength born from silence. A reminder of the support that grows from attention to oneself.

Supporting mental health is the foundation of individual and national resilience. That is why Ukrainian Women’s Guard systematically develops programs for psycho-emotional support for women in communities.
