It has been the 587th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, and attacks both military and civilian targets. 

There were 26 combat clashes over the day. The russian federation also launched another attack on Ukraine, using an Iskander-K cruise missile and 31 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. The air defense destroyed an Iskander-K cruise missile and 29 enemy drones. In total, the enemy launched 3 missile and 80 air strikes, fired 28 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of our troops and settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains challenging.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, the situation remained unchanged. There were no signs of offensive groups forming. Certain units of the belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, continues shelling settlements from the territory of the russian federation, and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. More than 25 settlements, including Karpovychi, Bleshnia, and Yeline in Chernihiv oblast, were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar shelling; Khotyn, Yastrubyne, Volodymyrivka, Novodmitrivka, Sumy oblast; Udy, Kozacha Lopan, Ivashky, Hatyshche, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy launched air strikes near Petropavlivka, Senkove, and Synkivka in Kharkiv oblast. More than 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Kucherivka, Berestove, and Petropavlivka in Kharkiv oblast, were subjected to artillery and mortar attacks.

Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled about 10 enemy attacks near Makiivka, Luhansk region. The enemy launched air strikes near Novoselivske, Luhansk oblast, Novi, Kolodiazy, Yampolivka, Stavky, Vesele, Spirne in Donetsk oblast. Artillery and mortar shelling affected more than 10 settlements, including Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast and Novosadove, Torske, Verkhnekamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy tried unsuccessfully to regain the lost ground near Andriivka, Donetsk oblast. He carried out air strikes near the settlements of Bohdanivka, Kostiantynivka, Klishchiyivka, Andriivka, Oleksandr-Shultine, Katerynivka in Donetsk oblast. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bila Hora, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka, and Nyzhyk in Donetsk oblast. 

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled all enemy attacks in the vicinity of Pervomaiske, Donetsk oblast. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Stepove, Avdiivka, Karlivka, Novokalynove, Pervomaiske in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Marinka, Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repelled 10 attacks in the vicinity of Marinka, Donetsk oblast, and an enemy attack near Krasnohorivka, Donetsk oblast. The enemy conducted airstrikes near Marinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk oblast. About 10 settlements, including Heorhiivka, Katerynivka, Marinka, Pobeda in Donetsk oblast, were under occupiers’ fire.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the occupiers conducted airstrikes in the areas of Vodiane, Urozhaine, Shakhtarske in Donetsk oblast. Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Urozhayne, Staromaiorske, Donetsk oblast came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the occupiers conducted airstrikes in the areas of Novodarivka, Robotyne, Staromaiorske in Zaporizhzhia oblast. More than 25 settlements were shelled with artillery and mortars, including Levadne, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Lobkove, Robotyne, Piatikhatky, Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Towards Kherson, the enemy conducted airstrikes near Antonivka and Olhivka in Kherson oblast. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Antonivka, Chornobaivka, Zmiivka in Kherson oblast and the city of Kherson and Dmytrivka in Mykolaiv oblast.

Ukrainian Defense Forces continue offensive operations towards Melitopol sector and offensive (assault) operations towards Bakhmut, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, and exhausting the enemy along the entire front line. 

Ukrainian aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 13 strikes on buildups of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 4 strikes on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.

Rocket troops hit 3 buildups of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 20 enemy artillery pieces.


The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is expanding the list of servicemen who receive additional remuneration. Among other things, payments to the wounded, instructors of training centres, conscripts and cadets were increased. The same applies to servicemen who sustained injuries (contusion, trauma, mutilation) related to the defense of the homeland and are undergoing hospital treatment, as well as to the families of prisoners of war and missing persons.

The SBU reports that the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has ruled in favour of the Ministry of Justice regarding the transfer of products of the russian company rostvertol, a key enterprise of the russian military-industrial complex, to Ukraine. The confiscated batch of components for combat helicopter control systems was manufactured by a Lviv plant at the request of a Rostov company in 2011. The company had hoped to receive its order back in 2014, but SBU counterintelligence blocked the transfer of helicopter components to russia. The components will be used in the production of weapons for the Armed Forces.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Kozacha Lopan City Military Administration, reported about at least 10 attacks in the morning. At least 10 private buildings, outbuildings and power lines were damaged. Part of the village is without electricity.

Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv community, informed about Grad MRLs attack on Ivashky. The incubator, distillery and cemetery were hit. There were no casualties.

Huriv Kozachok and Odnorobivka were also shelled. In Odnorobivka, two buildings were damaged and gas networks were hit; there is no electricity . A field is on fire near Huriv Kozachok. At 5:30 am, russian troops launched six mortar attacks on Udy.

Oleksandr Tertyshnyi, Head of Borove Village Military Administration, confirmed the attack on a field. In general, shelling in Borove community has intensified. The villages located on the border with Luhansk oblast are most often hit by air strikes, specifically, Cherneshchyna, Pershotravneve, Kopanky and Druzheliubivka.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, said that russian invaders shelled civilian infrastructure and civilians in Bohodukhiv, Chuhuiv, Kupiansk and Izium regions yesterday.

The enemy launched 5 S-300 missiles at the outskirts of Kharkiv at around 9:10 am. They hit the ground, damaging an outbuilding and the utility rooms of a funeral service bureau. One of the missiles landed on the territory of a university campus, causing no large-scale destruction. There were no casualties.

The enemy attacked Kupiansk with a guided bomb at around 1:50 pm. 6 private residential buildings, a warehouse building and 4 apartment buildings were damaged. A 76-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman were injured. They were hospitalised in a moderate condition.

The enemy attacked Cherneshchyna and Pershotravneve villages, Izium region, with an anti-aircraft missile; there were no casualties.

In Huriv Kozachok village, Bohodukhiv region, 3 private buildings were damaged by shelling.

In Okhrymivka village, Chuhuiv region, the building of a farm workshop was damaged and a fire broke out.

Yesterday pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 7 hectares of territory and defused 145 explosive ordnance.

Ihor Tantsiura, Commander of the 113th Brigade of the Territorial Defence, stated that they will receive 12 Spartan armoured personnel carriers by the end of 2023. According to him, the equipment was financed by the World Congress of Ukrainians international organisation.

Donetsk oblast

Serhii Vinichenko, Director of the Utility Enterprise of Illinivsk Village Council, reported that russian troops shelled Illinivka region at 8:30 am. There were no casualties. The territory of the agricultural enterprise, cars, school buses were damaged and a certain amount of grain stored there was burnt down.

Oleksii Roslov, Head of Kostiantynivka City Military Administration, said that russian troops shelled Kostiantynivka in the afternoon, with o casualties.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, two people were injured in Novoukrainka of Vuhledar community towards Volnovakha yesterday.

Towards Donetsk, russians shelled Kurakhove community 5 times, damaging 21 buildings: 10 in Kurakhivka, 7 in Kurakhove and 4 in Trudove. One person was injured in Trudove. A person was injured in Yelizavetivka and a building damaged in Illinka of Marinka community. Avdiivka was shelled with tanks and Grad MRLs in the morning, hitting two streets.

Towards Horlivka, Toretsk community was under numerous attacks. 2 buildings and an administrative building in Toretsk, 2 buildings and an abandoned industrial building in Pivnichne and 3 buildings in Nelipivka were damaged. Another 3 buildings were damaged in Chasiv Yar community.

Towards Lysychansk, a building and a non-residential building in Siversk, an outpatient clinic in Torske of Lyman community and 2 streets in Pereizne of Zvanivka community were damaged.

The amount of damage caused by air pollution as a result of fires on agricultural land in Donetsk oblast after russian shelling reached UAH 11 billion 440 million. Harmful substances such as carbon oxide and dioxide, sulphur dioxide, sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, solids and heavy metals are released in tonnes of air.

11 Invincibility Centres started operating in Pokrovsk and another one in Pishchane region is in the “ready to open” mode. According to Serhii Dobriak, Head of the CMA, they were deployed on 1 October and the administration is currently supplying the stations with fuel and lubricants to run the generators.

The White Angels evacuated a 73-year-old resident of Sieverne village of Ocheretyne community who needed immediate medical assistance. His house was heavily damaged by enemy shelling. The evacuation was fast because the house is located on the outskirts of the street where russian positions are clearly visible.

Also russians detained three 9th grade students in Mariupol who allegedly created a negative image of russia and “spread nationalist symbols” in a closed Telegram group. According to the city council, russian invaders continue to fight against so-called “extremist materials”. These are library books, including historical publications and Ukrainian classics. According to preliminary calculations, russians destroyed 180 K books and 4 libraries in Mariupol.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, russians attacked Nevske 4 times and Novoliubivka twice with KAB-500 bombs. The invaders hit near the school they had destroyed earlier. Another 30 explosions were heard in the area around these settlements. Enemy attacks were repelled near Makiivka. Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka suffered from artillery and mortar shelling.

The so-called lpr reported its readiness for winter by 95%. As in 2022, this figure does not include Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk, Rubizhne and Kreminna, where almost nothing has been done by russians in a year and a half. The invaders claim that it is impossible to connect these settlements to heating in time. Last year, this did not happen at all. At the same time, the occupation media allegedly announced the start of electrification of Metolkyne near Sievierodonetsk, even earlier – about gasification. Residents, who manage to leave the area and call their relatives, say that not a single house is connected to the utilities there.

Roman Vlasenko, Head of Sievierodonetsk Regional Military Administration, said that the activity of hostilities in Luhansk oblast has increased again, with the invaders breaking records in terms of aviation and artillery use. In Sievierodonetsk, the measures to assign positions after the so-called “first elections” were completed. The city is not ready for the heating season. There are also interruptions in electricity and water supply. After 3 pm, the local population is afraid to go outside.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

The Armed Forces will increase the number of mobile fire groups in the Northern Operational Zone as part of the air defense forces. Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informed that such measures are aimed at strengthening the protection of citizens and energy facilities from russian attacks.

Kyiv oblast

Kyiv Regional Military Administration reports that Hanno Pevkur, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Estonia, paid a working visit to Kyiv oblast. He visited Irpin and Bucha, which suffered the most during the hostilities. This is his second visit to the region.

People from all over the world can track the progress of the reconstruction of 18 apartment buildings in Kyiv oblast that were damaged by russian occupiers in the spring of 2022. The UNITED24 platform is raising money for their reconstruction. You can read the stories of their residents and watch the progress thanks to the monitoring project of the IT company LUN.

Kyiv Regional Military Administration reports that a dual-purpose shelter that can accommodate 700 people at a time was opened in Yuriv Lyceum of Hatnyanska community. The shelter has ventilation, water supply and sewerage systems, a fire system, WIFI as well as two separate entrances from different sides, one of which is equipped for people with special educational needs.

Funding for the Kyiv Defender Municipal Target Pprogram has been increased by UAH 1.26 billion. This decision was made by Kyiv City Council members at an emergency meeting. The funds will be used to provide logistical support for the security and defense forces.

Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn announced that Irpin and Alboraya, Spain, have become sister cities. According to him, the Spanish city has long been hosting Ukrainian children for rehabilitation and recreation, and last winter it donated much-needed stoves and generators to Irpin.

On October 9, Kyiv will host  a charity concert and auction in memory of the fallen soldier and journalist Oleksandr Bondarenko. The funds raised will be used for the needs of the 244th separate battalion of the 112th brigade of the territorial defense, where Oleksandr served. ️ The lots include fragments of a russian Lancet UAV, T-shirts signed by Andrii Khlyvniuk and Latexfauna, shell casings painted by Olena Pavlova (the cat Inzhyr), and a flag from his comrades.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, 396 Invincibility Centres have been set up in Zhytomyr oblast, including 334 stationary ones and 56 at the regional SES.

Administrators of ASCs in Zhytomyr oblast will take part in online training from the Ministry of Veterans of Ukraine. They will learn to provide administrative services in the field of social protection for war veterans and their families in a more efficient and high-quality manner. The training will last about two weeks in all oblasts of Ukraine.

By the end of 2023, eleven monuments in Korosten community will have their inscriptions replaced and soviet symbols removed in places where they remain. According to the city council, the priority is to replace plaques on memorials and eliminate symbols of the soviet period.

In Zhytomyr, Kharkiv Academic Symphony Orchestra has started its 94th concert season on the stage of the Sviatoslav Richter Regional Philharmonic. Therefore, the opening of the concert seasons for both groups in the city will be conducted jointly.

Sumy oblast

Over the past 24 hours, the russians opened fire 13 times at the border areas. In total, there were 50 shells fired from mortars, artillery, grenade launchers, as well as unguided air-to-surface missiles launched from a helicopter (5 explosions) and an aircraft (2 explosions. Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Yunakivka, and Shalyhine communities were shelled.

In the morning, russian forces carried out 2 mortar attacks. According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, there were 7 shells fired on the territory of Seredyno-Buda (5 explosions) and Znob-Novhorodske (2 explosions) communities.

According to the Regional Military Administration, 15 new defence structures have been constructed in Sumy oblast to protect residents. Also, it is planned to check regions and communities where there are problems with shelters.

Chernihiv oblast

Over the past 24 hours, the russians opened fire 7 times on the border of Chernihiv oblast from their territory. According to the State Border Guard Service, Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Horodnia communities were under enemy fire. In total, there were 35 shells from barrel artillery and mortars.

This year in Chernihiv, the number of stationary Invincibility Centres will be reduced from 25 to 10. Oleksandr Lomako, Acting Mayor of the city, reports that instead, they plan to increase the number of backup locations that can be quickly deployed if necessary. The Centres will not be located in educational institutions where a large number of children are constantly present.

On October 6, Chernihiv Taras Shevchenko Drama Theatre, which suffered from the russian attack on August 19, will open its 98th theatre season. According to Director General Serhii Moisienko, an expert examination declared the building to be in disrepair after the missile strike. The auditorium has suffered the most, and it is now impossible to receive visitors there. Performances with the audience can only be held on the White Stage and in the “audience on stage” format.

For the first time, Chernihiv hosted the Northern Outpost sports competition between veterans of the war with russia, which brought together three dozen military personnel from across the country. Veterans competed in bench press, rowing, air bike and kettlebell lifting. These are veterans and active servicemen who have been wounded, shell-shocked or have an amputated limb.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

During the day, the invaders shelled Nikopol twice with artillery. As a result of the attacks, an outbuilding was destroyed. An educational institution, 12 private buildings, 6 outbuildings, a car, solar panels and a power line were damaged. Velykomykhailivka community, Synelnykove region, was also shelled.

At night, the enemy launched a Shahed and a cruise missile at Dnipropetrovsk oblast. The Air Force shot down the missile and 13 enemy drones. Unfortunately, there was a hit on the territory of the plant in Pavlohrad. Two production buildings were damaged. In Dnipro, two fires broke out as a result of falling debris, one at a private enterprise and the other at a garage cooperative. A car was damaged. The enemy also shelled Myrove community, Nikopol region, with artillery at night. As a result, 2 private buildings and an outbuilding were damaged.

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipro Oblast Council, reported that 15 generators, food and hygiene products were delivered to educational institutions of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council and Dnipro city. Most of them are educational and rehabilitation centres and special schools. This way, the students will be able to survive the winter with confidence, despite the possibility of further blackouts. The aid was provided thanks to the cooperation of Yurii Simonov, a member of the regional council, with German benefactors. One of the German communities and the UKRAINE DONATION Foundation have already helped on several occasions.

Serhii Lysak, Head of the RMA, said that Dnipropetrovsk oblast has completed preparations for the heating season. Works in boiler houses, apartment buildings, schools and hospitals have been completed. Among other things, 57 km of old and emergency pipes were replaced. The equipment was set up and trial heat supply was conducted. All this was coordinated by specially created headquarters – regional and local. Preparations were made to deal with the consequences of the winter weather. Almost 700 units of specialised equipment are ready, including loaders, bulldozers, graders, snow removal machines and excavators, which is enough. However, if the weather brings a “surprise”, additional special vehicles can be used. The local authorities have agreed with the companies on this. There are also de-icing materials and fuel reserves. As for energy facilities, preparations are almost complete which are protected from possible enemy attacks.

The RMA reported that there are already 31 repaired houses. Construction workers from Dnipro oblast have been working tirelessly in the villages in Kherson oblast. They are completely replacing the roofs of the houses that were damaged by the enemy. They are installing new windows and doors. Facade works are different in each settlement. In Olhyne, the walls are being sheathed. In Bobrovyi Kut and Starosillia, they are being puttied and painted. Each house takes several weeks to complete. They repair at a fast pace but they also care about quality. Currently, more than 40 buildings are in the process. Reconstruction plans are being prepared for those that were severely damaged or burned by russian invaders. The Side by Side project also involves the restoration of the local infrastructure.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​20 participants, among them are military personnel and IDPs, of the Municipal Housing programme were the first to receive keys to apartments on K. Vasylenko Street. In total, the largest quota of 18 apartments in this building was provided for families of combatants and 14 for internally displaced persons. 14 years after the launch of this housing project, 12 modern apartment buildings were built in Vinnytsia. They are home to more than 1,000 families, 860 of whom have joined the programme. This is the second building to be constructed during a full-scale war. Therefore, construction began with all safety, reliability and modern approaches to energy conservation and inclusion. The building is electrified, has an underground car park that can serve as a shelter, and is equipped with the necessary facilities for people with visual difficulties.

The Operational Headquarters held a regular meeting to prepare for the heating season. The installation of protective structures at critical infrastructure facilities is almost complete. Generators and fuel are stocked up to ensure uninterrupted operation in case of blackouts. Readiness of the housing stock was checked. Management companies together with residents should make sure that shelters are illuminated, clean, dry and accessible. Specialised services are installing automatic lock opening systems in basements where you can stay during an air raid. Where necessary, doors are being replaced.

Serhii Morhunov, Head of the City Council, confirmed that 30 Invincibility Centres were set up in schools. The catering department were organized and food stocks for 3-5 days created. In the event of an emergency, everyone will be able to eat and drink warm tea there.

Kirovohrad oblast

Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration said that five soldiers, who were killed in action while performing a combat mission in Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Donetsk oblasts, were buried at the Dalekoskhidne Cemetery in Kropyvnytskyi. They are Vitalii Tikhonov, Serhi Kolomeitsev, Semen Dudnyk, Vladyslav Nazarenko and Yurii Kuzichkin. The youngest was 34 years old, the oldest was 58 years old.

Poltava oblast

Dmytro Lunin, Head of Poltava Regional Military Administration, reported about another batch of generators delivered by international partners. These are 91 diesel devices of various capacities. They are used to power critical infrastructure facilities.

The RMA added that Poltava oblast has once again provided vehicles for our defenders, which is always an urgent need. Once again, a crossover vehicle was sent to reconnaissance personnel to perform combat missions.

Cherkasy oblast

Mayor  Anatolii Bondarenko said that more than 440 windows in 37 houses need to be replaced after a missile attack on downtown Cherkasy on September 21. To receive payments, people have to apply to the city council. The damaged properties are currently being examined. Residents of Cherkasy, whose homes were damaged, will receive financial assistance to replace damaged windows. So far, it has been found that more than 440 windows in 22 apartment buildings and 15 private households need to be replaced. For 14 apartments, 30 windows are already being prepared. To receive payments, which is UAH 3,700 per square metre of damaged window, people need to write an application to the Department of Housing and Communal Services of Cherkasy City Council.

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The russian army attacked 22 settlements in Zaporizhzhya oblast. The russian military fired 4 MLRS attacks on Novodanilovka and Mala Tokmachka, 10 UAV attacks on Huliaipole, Novodarivka, Novodanilovka, Mala Tokmachka and Temyrivka, and 5 aerial missiles were launched at Orikhov, Novodarivka and Mala Tokmachka. There were 109 artillery shelling attacks against frontline towns and villages, including Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Malynivka, Bilohiria, Preobrazhenka, Piatikhatky, Lobkove and Kamianske.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the russian military unsuccessfully tried to regain the lost position west of Verbove and southeast of Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 

Mykolaiv oblast

The Ukrainian Air Force said that on the night of October  3, 2023, the russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with 31 Shahed attack drones and an Iskander-K cruise missile. Air defence forces destroyed 29 Shaheds and a missile. The launches were carried out from the temporarily occupied Crimea: “Shaheds” – from Cape Chauda, Iskander-K – from the area of Dzhankoy. 

Serhii Zhebrak, Head of the Emergency Prevention Department of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv oblast announced that in Mykolaiv oblast, all forests are closed to the public due to the danger of mining and high fire danger. 

Oksana Yelchieva, Director of the Social Protection Department of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, says that on  October 1, 402 Invincibility Centres were reopened in Mykolaiv oblast. They can be either stationary (indoors) or mobile (tents or SES vehicles), but must have alternative sources of power and heat supply, Internet access, furniture, lighting, food, water, hygiene products, first aid kits, mother and child corners, toilets, etc. 

Olha Harlan, Olympic fencing champion, shared her impressions of the meeting with Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the meeting, the athlete presented him with the sabre she used to fight against the “neutral” russian Anna Smirnova at the World Championships in Milan. Another part of her uniform from that match, a mask, was donated to the 47th Brigade.

Odesa oblast

Southern Defence Forces of Ukraine report that the russian military attacked Zmiinyi Island in Odesa oblast with three guided aerial bombs. This suggests that the invaders are trying to regain dominance in the Black Sea and dictate their terms to civilian shipping. According to the military, russia’s combat fleet consists of eight units – 7 ships in the Black Sea and 1 in the Sea of Azov. All of them manoeuvre near the coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea. The missile carriers are in their home bases. 

Recently, artists from the city of Izmail launched a lottery, where participants will be able not only to become owners of exclusive works by renowned artists and photographers from the Danube region, but also help volunteers purchase a much-needed bus to evacuate wounded soldiers from the battlefield. The lottery was organised by the Izmail for the Armed Forces NGO and the Izmail Artists’ Union. They provided 60 special tickets, each costing UAH 300. The holder of such a ticket has a chance to get one of the works put up for auction.

Two more bulk carriers used the temporary corridor declared by Ukraine in the Black Sea. Two more commercial vessels are heading towards the ports of Greater Odesa. The vessels are Maranta and Equator, with a deadweight of 5,085 tonnes and 1,965 tonnes respectively. Both vessels are bulk carriers, a type of ship that transports grain and other bulk cargo. This is evidenced by data from the Marinetraffic portal.

Kherson oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in Kherson oblast, russian troops conducted airstrikes near Antonivka and Olhivka. They also fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Chornobaivka, Zmiivka and Kherson. 

At around 13:20, the russian army shelled Kindiika in Kherson oblast. A 54-year-old woman who was in the yard of her house was injured and hospitalised in moderate condition.

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that russian troops dropped two guided aerial bombs on Olhivka and Odradokamyanka, and four more on Mykolaivka. Information about the damage and casualties is being updated. 

Around noon, russian troops shelled Dniprovsky district in Kherson. Private houses were damaged. Preliminary, one person was injured. 

Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that around 8:00, the russian army hit a house in Zmiivka, Kherson oblast. According to preliminary data, one person was injured.

Inhulets was also attacked three times at night. russian shells destroyed an administrative building and a library. A church, a post office and an agricultural enterprise were damaged.

An airstrike was carried out by the russian military in Antonivka in Kherson oblast. Eight local residents were injured in the attack, one of them killed.

A 54-year-old man was killed due to the shelling of Kherson. He was in his garage when the attack took place.

The prosecutor’s office showed the consequences of the russian shelling of Kherson oblast on October 3. One person was killed and six more injured. Residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged. Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal investigation.

Vysokopillia community received a humanitarian aid shipment with construction materials, tools for a utility company and materials to repair water supply networks delivered to the hospital. All this is necessary to restore the building of the medical facility. The aid was made possible by the Partnership Fund for a Resilient Ukraine (PFRU) and the ACTED humanitarian foundation.

Volyn oblast

Since October 1, 361 Invincibility Centres have been operational in Volyn. The Centers are provided with means of heating, lighting, power for mobile devices, first-aid kitsб etc. Everyone can also drink hot tea and have a snack here.

Zakarpattia oblast

Velikodobronsk community is engaged in helping Ukrainian defenders and victims of russian aggression. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the community has provided about 50 tonnes of food, 16 tonnes of hygiene products, 11 tonnes of clothing, all directed at the requests of IDPs and the military. In addition, 2 trucks, 4 all-terrain vehicles, a drone and 2 generators were sent to the soldiers at the front.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Captain Stepan Vorobets from Carpathian was posthumously awarded with the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Golden Star order. He was the commander of the reconnaissance company of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo. The defender was killed on June 19, 2014 in the village of Zakitne, Donetsk oblast, in a battle with occupiers.

Lviv oblast

The RMA reported that Horodotsk City Council purchased 20 FPV drones for compatriots who defend Ukraine in the ranks of the 103rd separate Territorial Defense Brigade.

Zolochiv community sent the car to the 15th Slavic Regiment of the National Guard of Ukraine from Norway. Pharmacies filled the car with medicines free of charge.

The City Department of Education of Brodivsk organized the campaign called My Angel Wears the Uniform of the Armed Forces. Funds were collected for the purchase of a car for compatriot Volodymyr Ostrovskyi, who defends the state in the ranks of the 63rd brigade in Lyman direction. At fairs and school events, educators and students of the community raised over 140K.

A charity event Together to Victory was held in the village of Popeli of Boryslav community to purchase a car, a night vision device and a quadcopter for the 42nd separate mechanized brigade of the RPTRK. Over UAH 60K was collected.

In the center of the village of Obroshyne, six stelae were erected, which perpetuate the memory of local Heroes – Bohdan Kalahurskyi, Mykhailo Hudzenko, Mykhailo Hul, Yurii Hrynyk, Vasyl Sofinskyi, and Mykhailo Nikolin. In the near future, two more stelae will be erected to Oleksandr Malevskyi and Ihor Balda.

The Alley of the Invincible named after Roman Sunak was opened in Strii. After the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the military joined the Karpatska Sich volunteer battalion. He was killed on August 25, 2022 near Virnopil in Kharkiv oblast.

A monument to Taras Matviiv, Hero of Ukraine, was opened in Zhydachevo. The journalist, public figure, and writer was killed on July 10, 2020, during the enemy mortar shelling near Troitskyi in Luhansk oblast.

The first sports and military patriotic camp for young people was held in Nahuyevich. Participants were taught how to fly drones. They also underwent military-tactical and medical training, participated in karate, boxing, hand-to-hand combat, self-defense and mixed martial arts training sessions.

Rivne oblast

Rivne received another humanitarian shipment from the Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine from Bavaria society. In particular, the cargo includes ultrasound devices, devices for endoscopic examination, hospital beds, bedside tables, medical couches, printers, wheelchairs and toilet chairs, children’s and adult clothes, school supplies with accessories, bicycles, fire equipment, diapers, hygiene, lamps and toys, bedding, medical products, protective gowns and masks, etc.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council reported that military personnel of the 16th separate battalion were given a cargo military vehicle from the community.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

On October 11, at the Khmelnytskyi NPP industrial site, a plant-wide emergency training is scheduled to be held on the topic: “Loss of power supply to the power units and complete blackout of power unit No. 1 caused by an emergency situation of a military nature.” The purpose of emergency training: checking the readiness of the management staff and emergency formations of Khmelnytsky NPP to take action in the event of an emergency situation at the NPP.

Chernivtsi oblast

As part of the Ukrainian-Latvian business forum, which took place on September 29, 2023 in Chernivtsi, representatives of the Aluksne municipality visited Bukovyna. The key directions of cooperation for the joint implementation of projects in various fields are outlined. It is about education, agro-industrial development, craft production, tourism, youth projects, etc.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Ukraine received a batch of repaired Leopard 2 from Poland. “While others are making statements about the future, we are acting in agreement with the Ukrainian side,” Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa said in a statement. The company reported that work on other tanks is ongoing. How many tanks have been handed over and how many are under repair is not specified in the message.

The government of Germany provided Ukraine with a new package of military aid, including protective glasses, satellite communication terminals, tank tractors, 14 tracked all-terrain vehicles BV 206 and ammunition for grenade launchers.

Denmark will allocate over EUR 13,4 mln for a joint European order of 155 mm artillery ammunition for Ukraine under the auspices of the European Defense Agency (EDA). The ammunition is expected to be delivered to Ukraine in 2024.

Anniken Huytfeldt, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, stated that the country joined the latest package of EU sanctions against russia.

Denmark will open an embassy office in Mykolaiv, where he will take care of the recovery of the region. “We must do everything possible to support Ukraine. Early reconstruction is needed now, and we cannot wait until the war is over. We are opening an embassy office in Mykolaiv to strengthen our presence on the ground and our dialogue with local authorities,” said Lars Lokke Rasmussen, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a conversation with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. They discussed alternative grain routes and agreed to maintain a constructive dialogue regarding the removal of unilateral restrictions on the part of member countries and to look for ways to support Ukrainian farmers.

They discussed progress in the Ukrainian side’s implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations regarding the status of Ukraine as a candidate for membership in the European Union.

Italy and Ukraine signed an agreement on the restoration of the cathedral destroyed by the russians in Odessa. Antonio Tajani, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, noted that the best Italian architects will be involved in the restoration of the cathedral. According to him, this is a clear cultural and political message for Ukraine. The minister added that Italy wants to support Ukraine and protect international law.

Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania agreed on a “green corridor” for the transit of Ukrainian grain through Poland to the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda, one of the largest on the Baltic Sea.

The Parliament of Armenia ratified the Rome Statute. Countries that have ratified the Rome Statute are obliged to execute an arrest warrant (especially putin) from the International Criminal Court.

Jan Lipavsky, Head of Czech diplomacy, stated that negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU will begin this fall, at most, at the beginning of next year.
