It has been the 632nd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

There were 53 combat engagements. The enemy launched a total of 1 missile and 24 air strikes, 18 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. The russian federation launched another air strike on Ukraine, using Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. Air defense forces destroyed 9 attack UAVs.

The operational situation in east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes and signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, they maintain its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Around 30 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Senkivka, Kliusy, Karpovychi, Leonivka, Chernihiv oblast, Zarichchya, Brusky, Volfyne, Myropillya, Stepok, Popivka, Sumy oblast, Veterynarne, Budarky, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy conducted failed assault operations in the vicinities of Synkivka, Petropavlivka and Ivanivka, Kharkiv oblast. The occupiers launched an air strike near Kupiansk, Kharkiv oblast. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10x settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Lyman, the enemy did not conduct any offensives (assaults). The occupiers fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka, Luhansk oblast, Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhniokiamnske, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut, the invaders made assaults in the vicinity of Vasiukivka, Klischiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk oblast, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 9x attacks. Over 10 settlements, including Markove, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, New York, Donetsk oblast, came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Avdiivka, the enemy conducted failed assault operations near Keramik, east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and south of Tonenke, Donetsk oblast, where the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 17 attacks. The enemy fired from artillery and mortar at over 15 settlements, including Oleksandropil, Ocheretyne, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sjeverne, Netailove, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Mariinka, the enemy made unsuccessful assaults in the vicinities of Mariinka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk oblast, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 18 attacks. The invaders launched air strikes in the vicinity of Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Donetsk oblast. The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Maksymilianivka, Heorhiivka, Mariinka, Antonivka, Veselyi Hai, Donetsk oblast were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the invaders conducted assault operations south of Vodiane, Donetsk oblast, to no success. They launched air strikes near Vodiane, Urozhaine, Donetsk oblast. Around 10 settlements, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Zolota Nyva, Urozhaine, Novopil, Donetsk oblast, came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the invaders made unsuccessful assaults near Robotyne and west of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia oblast, where Ukrainian defenders 3 attacks. The occupiers launched an air strike in the vicinity of Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhia oblast. Over 15 settlements, including Levadne, Poltavka, Zaliznychne, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, P’yatykhatky, Zaporizhzhia oblast, came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, the invaders launched an air strike in the vicinity of Tiahynka, Kherson oblast. The settlements of Tokarivka, Sadove, Chornobaivka, Bilozerka, Veletenske, Kherson oblast, the city of Kherson, and Solonchaky settlement, Mykolaiv oblast suffered from enemy artillery shelling.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue their offensive operation towards Melitopol and offensive (assault) operations towards Bakhmut, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy all along the front line.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to consolidate several bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. These gains were made through the courage and high competence of Ukrainian marines, supported by other units of the Armed Forces. The Armed Forces continue to hold ground, repelled 6 enemy attacks, and are taking steps to expand the foothold.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched 10x air strikes on concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment, and 2x strikes on air defense systems of the occupiers.

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 3 buildups of troops, weapons and military equipment, 6 artillery systems, 1 air defense system, 1 command post and 1x ammunition depot of the russian invaders.


Today, 4,337 Ukrainians are in Russian captivity. This was reported by the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine. Of them – 3 thousand 574 military and 763 civilians.

Money from the fund, which is intended for road repairs, will be transferred in 2024 to security and defense. This was reported by the Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko. We are talking about 94.7 billion hryvnias.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Volodymyr Fito, Head of Public Relations of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informed that russian troops lost 156 servicemen and 30 pieces of equipment towards Lyman-Kupiansk over the day. According to him, russian army is regrouping but is not making any progress.

Kharkiv oblast

Oleksandr Tertyshnyi, Head of Borova Village Military Administration, said that russian federation struck Borova with Smerch multiple rocket launchers. In addition to the fire station and equipment, the power grid district and six buildings were damaged.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv RMA, reported that at around 3:20 am, the enemy shelled Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, Kupiansk region, damaging a private household and setting off a fire. Preliminary, there were no casualties.

At least 17 settlements of the region were under enemy attack during the day. Specifically, the enemy shelled Veterynarne of Kharkiv region, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk and Nesterne of Chuhuiv region, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka of Kupiansk region and other settlements.

In Kupyansk, the shelling damaged 3 private buildings and 2 outbuildings.

The building and equipment of the fire and rescue unit were damaged as a result of a UAV strike on Borova village of Izium region.

There were no civilian casualties over the day.

Towards Kupiansk, Ukrainian defenders repelled 4 russian attacks near Synkivka and Petropavlivka over the day.

Pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 7.2 hectares of territory and defused 84 explosive ordnance.

As of 17 November 2023, 279 children have been evacuated from the dangerous communities of Kupiansk region. Another 15 are to be evacuated.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff informed that on 16 November, Ukrainian troops repelled 17 russian attacks towards Avdiivka, 18 towards Bakhmut and 19 towards Marinka. Also russian troops unsuccessfully stormed near Staromaiorske of Donetsk oblast and Bilohorivka of Luhansk oblast.

According to Donetsk RMA, towards Donetsk, 2 people were injured in Antonivka of Marinka community. Netailove of Ocheretyne community, Kurakhove and Selydove were shelled. Ivanivka of Hrodivka community suffered two missile strikes, without casualties.

Out of 70 children living in Shcherbynivka, 56 have already been rescued in the three weeks of mandatory evacuation. The day before, 5 children were evacuated, the youngest child being less than two months old. Now the children and their parents are in a relatively safe place in Pokrovsk region.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the enemy has focused on Kupiansk sector in recent days but is also keeping Lyman sector under pressure. Yesterday, they tried to storm our positions in Bilohorivka without success. Also russians are also having no success in Serebrianka forest so they conduct air raids there almost every day.

The enemy shelled Nevske, Bilohorivka and other frontline villages with mortars and artillery.

In the so-called “lpr”, freshmen in vocational education institutions are required to have a mark of military registration. They threaten to prevent them from taking part in the exams that are due to start soon.

Local occupation authorities in Luhansk receive letters from the occupation authorities about the need for civil servants-collaborators to participate in advanced training courses in moscow. The price of one course is RUB 44,000, excluding travel expenses. The training will focus on taxation of agricultural development enterprises. Those interested are being forcibly gathered from each administrative unit of the so-called “lpr”.

Oleksandr Striuk, Head of the RMA, reported that by the end of the year, russians are trying to master the budget by repairing the apartment buildings in which they live. The apartments of the townspeople are distributed to russian military. The city is left without mobile phone service and the Internet. Only representatives of the occupation authorities have these means of communication.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Oleksandr Kamyshin, the Minister of Strategic Industry, reported that In the village of Novosilky in Fastiv district, one of the largest radiation shelters in Kyiv Oblast, located at the Erudite lyceum, was brought into proper condition. The 1,000-square-metre shelter can accommodate almost 600 people, so all students of the school can now receive their education in person.

In Kyiv, the NGO Ukrainian Women’s Guard invited women to spend time together for psychological support and rehabilitation during the war. The event was held in the cosy atmosphere of the Lesia Ukrainka Public Library. The participants communicated, received help and advice, as well as psychological support.

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the Kyiv RMA, reported that the realities and challenges faced by Ukrainian farmers during the war were discussed at an agrarian forum-seminar in Kyiv. The seminar also included presentations of small businesses in times of war.

A first aid training programme for schoolchildren has been launched in Kyiv. The programme was initiated by the Kyiv RMA together with the KoLeSo Tactical Medicine Training Centre. In the future, this curriculum may become part of the school subject Defence of Ukraine.

Vitalii Klychko, the mayor of Kyiv, reported that it will take several years for the capital to reach its pre-war socio-economic levels. This is possible if the security situation in Kyiv and the economic situation in the country do not deteriorate. At the same time in the face of the war, Kyiv entrepreneurs and industrialists continue to work, pay taxes and provide jobs.

The Centre for Strategic Communications and Information Security presented a study in Kyiv on Genocidal Rhetoric of the russian Regime. It is noted that genocidal rhetoric is used not only by participants of propaganda talk shows or administrators of anonymous Telegram channels. Such rhetoric is also found in the vocabulary of representatives of the russian authorities and in materials created and disseminated by order and under the control of the russian government.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to the Ukrainian Air Force Command, an enemy Shahed was shot down during an air alert in the Zhytomyr oblast. 9 out of 10 attack UAVs were shot down in the airspace over Ukraine.

Vitaliy Bunechko, Head of Zhytomyr RMA reported that as part of the recovery programme, Zhytomyr Oblast has established effective cooperation with the Republic of Estonia. With the assistance of the Republic of Estonia, the bridge over the Irsha River in Malyn has already been restored after russian air strikes. The construction of the second stage of a modular kindergarten in Ovruch is currently underway, and soon the institution will be able to provide quality and safe conditions for 160 children.

In Zhviahel, work is underway to build an improved dormitory for internally displaced people. It is planned to open in spring 2024. Priority for settling in the 47 apartments of the dormitory will be given to internally displaced persons employed in the community.

Sumy oblast

According to the Sumy RMA, russians fired mortars at the Yunakivka community – there were 3 explosions. 

The enemy fired 10 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. There were 44 mortar attacks, 26 explosions due to artillery fire from self-propelled artillery systems and 4 explosions due to the dropping of explosive ordnance from UAVs. Krasnopillia, Myropil, Velyka Pysarivka, Esman, Druzhbivka communities were shelled.

According to State Emergency Service of Sumy oblast, pyrotechnics seized and destroyed an unguided aircraft missile and an explosive. The work was carried out in Sumy and Okhtyrka districts.

Two more Safety Classes have been added to the educational space of Sumy oblast. Rescuers held the first lessons in thematic classes in educational institutions of Romny and Konotop districts.

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service reported that кussians fired 3 times at the border of Chernihiv Oblast – 15 mortar attacks. Semenivka and Snovsk communities were shelled. 

Bridget Brink, US Ambassador to Ukraine, reported that the United States delivered two cogeneration units to Zhytomyr and Chernihiv oblasts. This equipment will provide heat, electricity and water to 50,000 people in winter.

In Snovsk, a space for children and young people called the Circle of Support was set up to provide psychological support, trainings and art therapy. The project was made possible with funding from the United States Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID’s BHA) and in partnership with GLOBAL COMMUNITIES, an international organisation based in the United States that works with communities in more than 30 countries.

On November 18, a presentation of the Ukraїner documentary Return to the Ukrainian Language will take place in Chernihiv. The film will be presented at the Galagan Art Museum. In the documentary, Ukraїner invites viewers to recall the path that the Ukrainian language and Ukrainians have travelled from gaining independence to the turning point of February 24 and the present day, when Ukrainians and the whole world are rediscovering the Ukrainian language.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council announced that at night, the occupiers shelled Nikopol with artillery. Around midnight Marganets community was hit once again. 

The enemy fired more than 45 artillery shots at Nikopol region. They targeted the district 5 times during the day and hit Marganets community and Nikopol itself. In the city 9 residential buildings, two farm buildings were damaged, one of them was completely destroyed, garages, cars and fences, gas pipelines and power lines were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia educators signed a memorandum of cooperation and interaction with Czech society. With the  Department of Education support representatives of the Vocational and Technical Education Center No. 1 in Vinnytsia and the Czech SCE REGNUM KARPATES OROS signed the agreement the other day. As part of the cooperation, VTEC students  No. 1 will have the opportunity to complete an internship abroad and receive European-style certificates. The agreement will also provide for the organization of joint Ukrainian-Czech projects, events and the implementation of educational initiatives.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi 11 000 700 UAH were allocated to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Press service of the regional military administration reported that in Kirovohrad oblast 737 Points of Invincibility were arranged. 358 points were created by local self-government bodies, 136 of them function according to the established schedule and 222 are ready for operate. These points are designed for the simultaneous stay of 36.8 thousand people. So far 1.7 thousand people have visited the Points of Invincibility.

Poltava oblast

Philip Pronin, Head of RMA announced that Poltava region received another 91 generators for critical infrastructure facilities, educational and medical institutions. The equipment was received as part project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Democratic Governance in Eastern Ukraine project, 51 generators were sent to 18 educational institutions in which IDPs have compact living spaces. Another 31 pieces of equipment were sent for boiler houses, pumping and heating stations in Poltava, Kremenchuk, Hadiach and Myrhorod. The rest of the generators were given to regional hospitals.

Cherkasy oblast

Serhii Ananko, Smiliany City Mayor announced that Smiliany citizens sent two auto quadrocopters and the necessary equipment for the newly formed special unit of anti-aircraft defense which will protect Cherkasy oblast.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday, the enemy conducted 118 strikes on 21 populated areas in Zaporizhia oblast. 96 artillery strikes targeted the territories of Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Shcherbaky, Luhivske, Kamianske, Piatyhatky, Lobkove, Plavni, Prymorske, and other towns and villages along the frontline. The enemy launched 3 missile strikes on Robotyne and Novodarivka, 14 UAV attacks on Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Poltavka, Charivne, Levadne, Luhivsei, Mali Shcherbaky, and Stepove, as well as 5 MLRS shelling on Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Novodarivka, and Temyrivka. There were 24 reports of residential buildings and infrastructure objects being destroyed. Civilians were unharmed.

The enemy carried out unsuccessful storming operations in the areas of Robotyne and west of Verbove towards Zaporizhzhia, where our defenders repelled 6 attacks. At the same time, the Ukrainian defenders continue their offensive operation towards Melitopol, causing losses to the occupation forces in personnel and equipment, and wearing down the enemy along the entire frontline.

Units of the “East” Air Command destroyed the russian UAV “Shahed” in Zaporizhzhia obalst. This was reported  by the press-service of the “East” Air Command.

The occupiers are using the local population as a human shield in temporarily occupied Tokmak. Representatives of the so-called “military police” of the occupation forces conduct inspections of apartment buildings in search of vacant apartments for the resettlement of invaders.

It is reported that russian military personnel fail to adhere to a series of technological requirements at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), that ensure the safe and proper operation of equipment. This concerns particularly power units No. 2, 4, and 6. The actions of the “management” of the ZNPP assigned by “Rosatom” lead to the degradation of equipment and systems crucial for the safety of the station.

Mykolaiv oblast

On November 16, the russian army shelled the villages of Solonchaky and Dmytrivka in Kutsurub community, as well as the city of Ochakiv. There were no reported injuries or fatalities. This information was provided by the head of Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim.

Last night air defense forces destroyed a combat UAV of the “Shahed-136/131” type in Mykolaiv oblast. It was reported by the “South” Operational Command.

A new mobile group of drone hunters is set to begin operations in Mylplai oblast in the near future. Currently, it is known that the creation of this group was supported by donations from the region’s residents, totaling over 12 million hryvnias. This was announced by the head of Mykolaiv RMA, Vitalii Kim.

Odesa oblast

Volunteers from the charitable foundation “Adzhalyk” continue to rescue residents of cities that are constantly suffering from enemy rocket attacks. There are both adults and children in the latest group of evacuees, all of whom require the consultation of a psychologist. This time the majority of the evacuated individuals are from the city of Kherson, as well as from Nikopol, Zaporizhzhia, and Sloviansk.

The vessel Kmax Ruler, which was attacked by a russian missile in Odesa port on November 8, was loaded and set sail. Currently, it has left Ukrainian territorial waters and is either in Romanian or Bulgarian waters. The ship’s owners have not applied for compensation from the Military Risks Fund, which has been established in Ukraine since 2023, as reported by Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure Iurii Vaskov.

115 vessels have exited the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Pivdennyi since the beginning of the Temporary Maritime Corridor announced by the Ukrainian Navy in August. In total, 148 vessels have entered the ports of Odesa, and 4.4 million tons of cargo have been processed over three months of the temporary corridor’s operation. This information was provided by Iurii Lytvyn, the head of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.

Kherson oblast

Armed Forces of Ukraine have carried out a series of successful actions on the left bank of the Dnipro River towards Kherson. Sabotage, raid, and reconnaissance activities are underway, identifying the routes of logistical supply of ammunition and food for the occupiers. Intelligence is being gathered on the locations of personnel and equipment of russian occupation forces, artillery positions, etc., with the aim of further eliminating them with appropriate means of impact. One of the main goals of this work is to push the enemy as far as possible from the right bank to protect the civilian population from constant russian shelling.

At the same time, our soldiers are inflicting significant losses on enemy forces, destroying equipment, and personnel. Since the beginning of these measures, the enemy has lost: personnel – 1216 killed and 2217 wounded, 24 tanks, 89 artillery systems and mortars, 135 units of various types of automotive equipment, 48 combat armored vehicles, 9 MLRS, 14 watercraft, 15 units of special equipment, 4 command posts, and 29 ammunition depots. In addition, 135 FPV drones and 5 UAVs of operational-tactical level have been neutralized.

According to the General Staff, in the past day, the enemy lost 14 occupiers, 1 heavy flamethrower system “Solntsepek,” 1 BTR 80/82A, 4 cannons, and 1 unit of automotive equipment.

It is reported that russian occupiers seized a two-story residential building in the temporarily occupied town of Brylivka in Kherson oblast. The occupiers turned it into a hospital for treating their wounded.

Today, around 12:30, the enemy again shelled Dariivka community. Two civilians were injured – a 72-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man. The wounded were taken to the hospital. Around 11:20, russian forces attacked the village of Veletenske in Bilozerka community. The attack was reportedly carried out from artillery fire. A 60-year-old local resident was killed as a result of the shelling. Information about other casualties is being clarified.

Yesterday, the enemy carried out 58 shelling attacks, firing 347 shells from mortars, artillery, “Grad” MLRS, tanks, UAVs, and aviation. The city of Kherson was targeted with 43 shells. Due to russian aggression, 6 people were killed, and 10 were wounded, including 1 child.

The occupiers shelled downtown of Bilozerka using MLRS. The russians fired 12 shells at the settlement, damaging at least 27 buildings. As a result of the attack, 2 people were killed, and 3 were injured.

Yesterday evening, the enemy shelled the Central and Dniprovskyi districts of Kherson for almost an hour. Homes of Kherson residents, medical facilities, gas stations, shops, and a car wash were targeted by russian terrorists. Three people were killed, and six more residents were injured as a result of the attack.

It is reported that the russian occupation administration is increasing pressure on the local Ukrainian population in the temporarily occupied Henichesk region. People are being forced to re-register their cars from Ukrainian to russian registration. Specifically, drivers with Ukrainian license plates and Ukrainian-style licenses are being pressured at checkpoints, with russian occupiers threatening to confiscate vehicles.

Four more children have been successfully evacuated from the temporarily occupied part of Kherson oblast to the territory controlled by Ukraine. This was reported by the head of Kherson RMA, Oleksandr Prokudin. Currently, the children with their families are in Kyiv, where they are receiving assistance from medics and psychologists.

The police of Kherson received an anti-drone rifle received from volunteers. The use of various UAVs poses a significant threat to the civilian population. To counter such threats, mobile groups have been formed within the Kherson police.

The firefighting team in Zmiivka received new special transport from Swedish donors – the Association of Policemen Paramedics of the Fire and Rescue Service. The firefighting transport is fully equipped with everything necessary for firefighting and providing assistance in emergency situations.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Ruslan Prykhodko, Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. The key goal is to establish closer communication between the ministry and people on the ground, which are directly related to communication and the provision of the entire range of administrative services to veterans.

Lutsk City Council reported that the city sent 2 Bluetti charging stations, 2 DJI Mavic ZE quadcopters and 2 ALIENTECH antennas to the A4355 military unit. The military unit A 4808 receives the submitted requests and the Starlink system. Military personnel of the 123rd bridge military unit A 7052 received a DJI Mavic quadcopter.

Lutsk City Council reported that the community sent a Mavic 3T quadcopter, two Mavic 3fly more combo drones and 6 pairs of anti-mine boots to the military unit 1141 of the National Guard of Ukraine thanks to the city budget.

Zakarpattia oblast

The Canine Center of the regional Main Directorate of the National Police handed over the first three dogs, which were trained within the framework of the joint project of supporting war veterans in the fight against psychological trauma, to the defenders. The program is aimed at the psycho-emotional rehabilitation of soldiers with the help of specially trained dogs using canister therapy methods.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

6 anti-aircraft searchlights complete with powerful batteries worth UAH 351K were sent from the oblast for the work of mobile fire groups thanks to the regional budget as part of the target program of providing executive assistance to military formations.

Lviv oblast

The RMA and the UN World Food Program (WFP) signed a cooperation agreement. The document provides that the WFP will partially cover the costs of organizing hot meals during the year. 3K children in primary classes of 18 schools of Lviv oblast.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
