What happened in Ukraine today:

The russian federation has launched yet another missile and air strike on Ukraine.

The russian army launched 7 missile strikes, 2 of which targeted the city of Uman, and 43 air strikes, 79 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. There are civilian casualties.

Ukraine is still under the threat of russian missile and air strikes.

Russia continues to focus its main efforts towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka. Heavy fighting is raging. There were 43 combat operations in these areas of the frontline.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. Russia reinforces its group engaged in border protection with units of territorial troops. Russian troops launched air strikes on the settlements of Myropillia, Sinne, and Severynivka, Sumy oblast. They fired from mortars and artillery at the settlements of Seredyna-Buda, Atynske, Bezsalivka, Myropillia, Hrabovske, Velyka Pysarivka, Ponomarenky, Sumy oblast, Krasne, Morokhovets, Luk’yantsi, Starytsya, Hatyshche, Vovchans’k, and Chuhunivka, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, russian forces launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Kyslivka. They fired from artillery and mortars at Kamianka, Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, Berestove, Kharkiv oblast, and Novoselivske, Luhansk oblast.

Towards Lyman, russians conducted unsuccessful offensives in the vicinity of Vesele Donetsk oblast. Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka, Luhansk oblast, Verkhniokamianske, Torske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka, Donetsk oblast were shelled with artillery.

Towards Bakhmut, russian troops conducted offensive operations towards the settlements of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Bila Hora, but without success. They launched air strikes in the vicinities of Bila Hora and Toretsk, Donetsk oblast. Vasyukivka, Minkivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Bila Hora, Druzhba, Toretsk and Pivnichne, Donetsk oblast came under russian artillery fire.

Towards Avdiivka, russia made unsuccessful attempts to advance near the settlements of Sieverne and Opytne. Russian forces launched air strikes in the vicinity of Avdiivka. They fired from artillery at the settlements of Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Mariinka, Ukrainian soldiers repelled all russian attacks in the vicinity of the city of Mariinka. Russia suffered losses. The russian army fired artillery in the vicinities of Mariinka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the russian army launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Velyka Novosilka, shelled the settlements of Vuhledar, Shakhtarsk, Zolota Nyva, and Vremivka, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the russian army stays on the defensive. They launched air strikes in the vicinities of Novopil, Donetsk oblast, Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia oblast, Zmiivka, Beryslav, and Kozatske, Kherson oblast. Russian forces fired from artillery at Burlatske, Zelene Pole, Novosilka, Novopil, Temyrivka, Donetsk oblast, Olhivske, Hulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia oblast, Beryslav, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Kherson oblast, and the city of Kherson.

In Crimea, Simferopol, temporarily illegally occupied by russia, there is a certain trend in local media. They ignore the fact of the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam by the russian army and the aftermath of this disaster. The local occupation russian authorities are reported to be concerned about possible panic among the public.

An “Akhmat” russian unit was spotted in the southwestern part of the temporarily occupied Donetsk. Russian soldiers are robbing civilians in this area of the city, as well as filming staged combat engagement videos. On 6 June, an effective fire attack by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the russian troops’ buildup in a training camp resulted in russian soldier casualties of 56 killed. Their total losses are being clarified. 

The Ukrainian Air Force launched 19 air strikes on the buildup of russian troops and 2 air strikes on the russian anti-aircraft missile systems.

The Ukrainian missile and artillery troops hit 5 russian command posts, 6 buldups of troops, weapons, and military equipment, 2 anti-aircraft missile systems, 8 russian artillery units at their firing positions, and 2 other important targets.


Ukraine may lose several million tons of harvest as a result of russia’s detonation of the Kakhovskaya HPP. This was reported to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. Flooded areas require an agro-ecological assessment of the soil condition. Several hundreds of thousands of tons of grain were stored on the left bank of Kherson region. Over 100,000 tons of crops were lost on the right bank. 

Ukrenergo reported that Ukraine requested emergency assistance from Europe due to power shortages in the power system in the evening hours. Currently, electricity production meets the consumers’ needs. However, as of the morning of June 9, almost 24,000 consumers in Kherson region, and over 2,000 consumers in Mykolaiv region, remain without power due to flooding caused by the explosion of the Kakhovska HPP.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops shelled more than 20 settlements. Specifically, Dvorichna, Budarky, and Masiutivka were under attack.

Kharkiv Regional Police reported that a 36-year-old resident of Kamianka village, Izium region, suffered chemical burns as a result of a Peliustka mine explosion. The man was hospitalised.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the RMA, reported that last night, russia attacked infrastructure facilities in Bohodukhiv region with Shahed drones: a 33-year-old man was injured. Two enterprises operating in the gas production industry were damaged.

Referring to the Kharkiv Regional Council, the invaders launched a missile attack, preliminary, from the S-300 system, on the outskirts of Kharkiv. There were no casualties.

Viktor Kovalenko, head of Zolochiv City Military Administration, said that Ivashky and Oleksandrivka villages are partially de-energised after a mortar attack by russians. According to him, there were 13 hits in Ivashky.

The invaders struck at civilians and infrastructure in Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Chuhuiv and Bohodukhiv regions yesterday.

Last night, the enemy launched a massive attack with Shahed drones on infrastructure facilities in Bohodukhiv region. Fires broke out and a 33-year-old civilian man was injured.

During the day, the enemy repeatedly attacked Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region. The building of a medical institution, residential buildings and outbuildings were damaged. A 63-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman were injured and hospitalised.

Mine clearance is ongoing. Yesterday, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 27 hectares of territory and defused 94 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Serhii Cherevatyi, spokesman of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that Ukrainian troops advanced up to 1,200 metres in some areas towards Bakhmut yesterday. The Armed Forces of Ukraine were attacking russian troops and conducting assaults as part of a defensive operation. He noted that in this area, russian troops shelled Ukrainian army positions 368 times with cannon and rocket artillery yesterday. There were 15 combat engagements with the enemy, who carried out 5 air raids.

Serhii Cherevatyi, spokesman of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed that towards Lyman and Kupiansk, there were 6 combat engagements yesterday. The enemy also carried out 6 air raids. All enemy attacks were repelled, resulting in the elimination of 72 invaders and 109 injured. Two armoured fighting vehicles, three mortars, two anti-tank missile systems, Rapira anti-tank cannon, two drones, 10 enemy vehicles and two ammunition depots were destroyed. The enemy used artillery 612 times here yesterday.

Yesterday, russian troops shelled residential areas of seven cities and settlements 14 times. The shelling damaged 14 residential buildings, a hospital, a laboratory, a city gas building, a shop and an enterprise,” the Donetsk police reported.

Towards Volnovakha, russians shelled Novoukrainka of Vuhledar community with Grad rockets.

Towards Donetsk, 1 person was killed and 4 injured in Maksymilianivka of Marinka community. Kurakhove community was shelled 4 times: Kurakhove, Ostrivske and Dachne. There were isolated attacks on Avdiivka and Ocheretyne community.

Towards Horlivka, 2 people were injured, 6 buildings, 6 infrastructure objects and 1 administrative building damaged in Toretsk. In Chasiv Yar community, 3 buildings were damaged. In Soledar community in Nikiforivka, 1 building was destroyed and 4 more damaged.

Towards Lysychansk, 4 buildings were destroyed in Zvanivka. There were 13 attacks on Lyman community.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration said that yesterday Russians killed 1 civilian in Maksymilianivka. Another 7 people were injured in the region over the day.

Mariupol City Council reported that in Mariupol region, the occupation “authorities” of russia are forcing educators to obtain Russian passports, otherwise they threaten them with dismissal and other restrictions. The leader of the ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’ group Denis Pushilin ordered the government to take control of the ‘passportisation’ of educators by 10 June.

Luhansk oblast

Yesterday, russians shelled Novoselivske, Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka with artillery.

Despite the danger, to support citizens, who have not yet decided to leave, police officers are delivering the necessary amount of food and essential goods. Specifically, they brought fresh bread and hygiene products to Nevske and Novoliubivka. The local military administrations are taking care of everyone who has stayed behind.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, about 90 russian troops deserted in the temporarily occupied Arapivka. They left their combat positions without permission.

Referring to the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, in Rubizhne, russian builders never came for a year and in Sievierodonetsk, the invaders are paying off their monetary debts by giving out food.

Luhansk Regional Military Administration presented a roadmap for the restoration of education in the liberated territories. It provides different approaches for the territories of Luhansk oblast that were occupied in 2014 and after the full-scale invasion of russia. A special adaptive programme of transition to the Ukrainian language will be developed for such educational institutions. The RMA also plans to have teachers work on a rota basis in these territories and receive preferences.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

In Kyiv oblast, all entertainment activities must finish no later than 9pm. The decision was made at a meeting of the operational headquarters of the Kyiv RMA. The curfew is in effect from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m.

The police of Kyiv oblast have increased patrolling at the Kyiv HPP. The Kyiv police reported that there are round-the-clock patrols in the oblast aimed at prompt response should the situation escalate. In case of an emergency, the police will be involved in evacuation and will assist the security forces.

The Kyiv City Council reported that the existing protective structures in Kyiv, which consists of 4,655 shelters, can shelter 2.8 million people at the same time. First of all, these are dual-use facilities: subway stations, underpasses, underground parking lots, basements, and semi-basements.

According to Kyiv Regional Military Administration, an automatic air-alarm access system, special locks that remotely open during an alarm, to be installed in shelters in municipal buildings is being tested in Kyiv. After testing, it is planned to equip 3,000 shelters with such locks.

In Kyiv, financial assistance will be provided to the families of the victims and owners of housing in Desnianskyi district damaged as a result of the russian attack on June 1. According to Kyiv City State Administration, the funds will be allocated through the city’s target program Сare. Towards the Kyiv citizens. This year, 809 people have already received financial assistance for damaged housing as a result of russian shelling.

Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that twenty-one boats with volunteers and a diving team have been sent to Kherson oblast to provide operational assistance. Also, a team of utility workers, electrical engineers and other specialists is being formed from representatives of 19 communities in Kyiv oblast. This team will be sent to the affected areas with all the necessary equipment at the first request. 

On June 8, around a hundred people rallied in front of the UN office in Kyiv. They protested against the organization’s inaction and demanded that they recognize the blowing up of Kakhovka HPP by russian troops as a war crime.

According to the international organization HealthRight International, the flag of Ukraine from Bakhmut and the flag of Hostomel community were sold at an auction in New York for 500 thousand dollars. The event took place at the annual charity auction as part of a gala evening aimed at raising funds to implement projects to overcome the consequences of the war.

Actors of the Ivan Franko National Academic Theater of Kyiv visited Dnipro, Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka with a mobile concert program. In Dnipro, artists gave two concerts to support internally displaced persons and volunteers. In Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka, their performances were attended by educators and military personnel.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zvyagel, a 70-year-old local resident was killed as a result of the fall of Russian missile fragments. The Zvyagel District Police Department reported that a 77-year-old pensioner was taken to hospital with injuries, and two other local residents received medical assistance. According to the State Emergency Service of Zhytomyr oblast, 4 houses were completely destroyed and 30 buildings were damaged.

The Ministry of Energy reported that as of June 9, two gas production facilities and power lines in Zhytomyr oblast were damaged by massive hostile shelling. As of now, liquidation of the consequences is in progress.

On Peremohy Square in Zhytomyr, citizens collected humanitarian aid for residents of Kherson oblast who suffered as a result of the blowing up of the Kakhovka HPP by the russian army. People brought blankets, clothes, water, long-term storage food, animal feed, and other necessary items. The collected items will be sorted by several funds to be sent to the affected oblast and handed over to the evacuated residents of Kherson.

Sumy oblast

 On June 8, the russians opened fire 13 times at the border areas. In total, there were 79 explosions recorded. Myropillia, Krasnopillia, Bilopillia, Seredyno-Buda, Nova Sloboda, and Velyka Pysarivka communities were shelled. The enemy attacked the territories of communities using mortars and launched 3 missiles from a helicopter. Sumy RMA reported that as a result of mortar shelling, a private house, a car and the power grid were damaged in Seredino-Buda community.

On June 8, russian forces attacked different settlements of Myropillia community with three Shahed drones. A shop in Myropillia was completely destroyed by shelling, and a school building in Sinne village was damaged.

During the night and morning of June 9, Bilopillia, Seredyno-Buda, and Nova Sloboda communities were under attack. According to the regional military administration, the russians carried out 8 attacks – in total, there were 52 shells fired.

In Sumy oblast, 1,611 consumers are left without power supply. Sumyoblenergo reported that due to shelling by the russian federation, settlements in Hlukhiv, Seredyno-Buda, Bilopillia, and Sumy communities are without electricity. Ukrenergo noted that repair crews restored power supply to almost 500 consumers in the oblast in one day.

According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, as of today, 75% of educational institutions in Sumy oblast are equipped with shelters. In other educational institutions that are currently working remotely, the arrangement of shelters continues at the expense of local governments. About UAH 22 million has already been allocated to the communities for this purpose. Moreover, the state budget provides UAH 72 million for the oblast to ensure safety in educational institutions on a co-financing basis.

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service reported that on June 8 and 9, as of 9:00 a.m., the russians shelled Chernihiv oblast three times. The border settlements of Halahanivka, Hremyach, and Leonivka came under enemy fire. In total, there were 10 artillery shells fired and 6 bombs fired from 120-mm mortars.

Two policemen got into a mine accident in Chernihiv oblast. According to the regional police, they ran over a mine while traveling along the border in their own car – 39-year-old Oleksiy Zhovtyk died on the spot, and his colleague was injured and taken to the hospital. The deceased is survived by three minor children.

In a week, 300 to 400 people are evacuated from the border communities of Chernihiv oblast, which are heavily shelled by russia. According to Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, In Novhorod-Siverskyi, Koryukivka, and Chernihiv regions, special accommodations have been set up for people evacuated from the border areas. According to him, more than 1,200 people have been evacuated from Chernihiv oblast, half of them from Novhorod-Siverskyi region.

In Chernihiv, the funeral of Azovstal defender Mykola Baranovsky was conducted. He was killed last year during a terrorist attack in the colony in Olenivka, where russians held Ukrainian POWs. The 27-year-old defender from Chernihiv was buried at the Yatsevo cemetery.

The city council reported one million Swiss francs will be given to Chernihiv to renovate the 13th school. This issue was discussed at a meeting with representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Swiss Development & Cooperation. As part of the partnership between Chernihiv community and the Swiss-Ukrainian project DECIDE, one of the initiatives – “School Public Budget for Children’s Dreams” – has started.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to the head of the regional council, Mykola Lukashuk, the military from ‘East’ ’ Operational Command destroyed two enemy cruise missiles and a drone over Dnipropetrovsk oblast at night.  The fall of debris in Novomoskovsk region damaged two residential buildings, a car, a gas pipeline, and a fence. The enemy shelled Nikopol region three times during the day. As a result of the attack on Nikopol, one enterprise, 7 private residential buildings, 3 outbuildings, and 4 power lines were damaged. The occupiers also shelled the Marhanets and Myrove communities with heavy artillery. 

According to the head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk, Dnipropetrovsk oblast received 20 tonnes of bottled drinking water from Khmelnytskyi oblast. The shipment is for the Tomakivka, Chervonohryhorivka, and Myrove communities in the Nikopol region, where the water supply situation is currently the most difficult. 

Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Serhii Lysak informed that a Coordination Centre has been established in Dnipropetrovsk oblast to take care of the needs of war-affected people. Representatives of the centre will respond promptly to community problems and coordinate the work of philanthropists and international partners. The centre has already sent humanitarian aid to the Nikopol region.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​In Vinnytsia, as part of the Donate to Sarmat campaign, schools raised more than UAH 260,000. The funds raised were used to purchase a DJI Mavic 3T reconnaissance quadcopter, and the remainder will be used to purchase an off-road vehicle for the medical unit of the Hero of Ukraine unit Da Vinci.

Kirovohrad oblast

According to the Head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration, Andrii Raikovych, the next aid shipment was sent from Kirovohrad to Kherson.  The RMA, along with volunteers and entrepreneurs, teamed up to bring the most necessary supplies to the affected areas. The aid included about 10 tonnes of water and containers for it, water purification tablets, 320 packages of dry soups and borscht, hygiene products, blankets, pumps, construction guns, boats, and gas cylinders.

Poltava oblast

Masters of the Opishnia Art Lyceum paint anti-tank grenade launcher shells and tubes and sell them at auctions. The money raised is used to buy thermal imagers, night vision devices, and drones for the soldiers.

Cherkasy oblast

According to Head of the Cherkasy State Administration Ihor Taburets, the russians attacked Uman with two Kalibr missiles last night. They hit civilian objects: an empty workshop of an agricultural enterprise, a car wash, and shops. The car wash was completely destroyed. The neighbouring buildings were damaged by the debris and the blast wave.  Ten victims were provided with medical aid. Two people remain in hospitals. One patient, a passer-by who was near the site of the rocket hit, is in grave condition. Another victim is in moderate condition.

The first rescued animals from the Kherson oblast were brought to Cherkasy at night. Volunteers of “Druh” (“Friend”)  Cherkasy animal protection society had been rescuing them from flooded settlements for two days.

Cherkasy graduates gathered for a March of Gratitude. They refused the traditional solemn procession format to thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Today, the russian army launched an airstrike on Huliaipole. A guided bomb hit a medical facility in the frontline city. Two people were killed, and two medical nurses were injured.

Yesterday, the enemy carried out 97 shelling attacks on 21 settlements: aerial attacks on Huliaipole and Poltavka, three attacks from UAVs on Charivne, 8 rocket strikes on Olhivske, Bilohiria, Temyrivka, Novohryhorivka, Chervone, 84 artillery strikes on Novoiakovlivka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Kamianske, Stepove, Novomykolayivka, and other frontline villages. 24 residential buildings were destroyed.

In the evening of June 8, a loud explosion occurred in the temporarily occupied city of Berdiansk. Local residents reported a fire. Deputy Chairman of Berdiansk District Council Viktor Dudukalov informed that, according to preliminary information, a gas distribution hub is on fire.

The situation at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is under control. The cooling pond of the NPP is filled to a level of 16.6 meters, which is within the norm. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) specialists are present at the nuclear power plant and provide information on the situation. Energoatom reported that if necessary, water supply can be ensured even at the lowest levels of the Kakhovka reservoir. There are several alternative sources for replenishing the cooling pond. These include mobile pumping units that can be deployed if necessary, as well as the use of underground drinking water wells.

A shelter for displaced persons has been opened in Zaporizhzhia. It can accommodate about a hundred people. The opening of the shelter was facilitated by the NGO “Patriot” and the Ukrainian Community in Japan NGO “Kraiany”.

Mykolaiv oblast

The enemy once again shelled the city of Ochakiv. Due to the impact of projectiles and their fragments, the roof of a residential building caught fire. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv oblast, no information about casualties has been received.

As of the evening of June 9, 13 populated areas in the Snihurivka territorial community, located in Mykolaiv oblast, remain flooded. Rescue workers continue to provide assistance to the affected population. During the day, 80 people, including four children, were transported by motorboats from the flooded villages to safe and dry areas within the community.

A memorandum of partnership and cooperation was signed between the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, the International Energy Cluster (MEC), and the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Mykolaiv. The aim of the memorandum is to organize broad cooperation among the parties in the restoration and further modernization of the energy system facilities in Mykolaiv oblast.

An exhibition titled “Azov Regiment – Angels of Mariupol” has opened in Mykolaiv. It is dedicated to the memory of the soldiers of the Azov Regiment who lost their lives defending Mariupol and Azovstal. Prior to the exhibition’s opening, local youth hung paper angel figures with the call signs of the fallen Azov soldiers on an improvised rope ladder. The exhibition features over a hundred photos of the fallen Azov heroes, with a short biographical note attached to each one.

Odesa oblast

The threat of enemy missile strikes and kamikaze drone attacks from remains high for Odesa oblast. As of the evening of June 8, the enemy conducted a rotation of missile carriers in the Black Sea: they brought a surface vessel with eight “Kalibr” missiles to the base, and introduced a submarine with four missiles on duty. According to the Southern Operational Command, two of those missiles hit an industrial facility and a car wash in the city of Uman, Cherkasy oblast, yesterday evening.

The assistance center for evacuees has resumed its operations at the Odesa railway station. They are providing support to residents of Kherson oblast who had to leave the area due to the attack on the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station. In the first place, people can receive informational assistance, such as obtaining the status of an internally displaced person and finding out where they can be accommodated in Odesa and receive humanitarian aid. Currently, there are 1,400 available spaces in the city for evacuees.

Following the sabotage of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, which resulted in dozens of towns and villages in Kherson oblast being submerged, personal belongings of Kherson residents started washing up on the shores of Odesa. Odesites have reported spotting a sofa, refrigerator, gas cylinder, utensils, furniture parts, and even a drifting car in the waters of the Black Sea.

Animals are being rescued from the floods that have engulfed Kherson oblast due to the sabotage of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station. Local residents in Odesa oblast discovered a dog that arrived on a board from the flooded area of Kherson oblast. As reported by the Animal SOS Odessa public organization, currently, the dog is at an animal clinic.

Kherson oblast

As of 12:00, June 9, 48 settlements have been flooded, 14 of which are on the temporarily occupied territory due to the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station in Kherson oblast. 34 settlements are flooded in the controlled territory of Ukraine, affecting 3,625 houses. Five people have died as a result of the flood: four in Kherson oblast and one in Mykolaiv oblast. Eleven people were injured during the shelling during evacuation operations. Thirteen residents of the region are considered missing.

The water level in the Ingulets River has risen due to the uncontrolled flow of water from the Kakhovka reservoir downstream of the Dnipro River. The settlements of the Kalynivka territorial community are at risk of flooding. Davydiv Brid in the Velyka Oleksandrivka territorial community is also in the potential flooding zone. Overall, the water level has risen by 150 cm. Meanwhile, the water level is decreasing in the territorial communities located upstream of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station. As a result, wells are drying up, and there is a need to provide the population with water.

Prior to the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, russian forces began to engage in looting more actively on the occupied left bank of Kherson oblast. Before the hydroelectric power station was destroyed, they intensified their looting and transported the stolen goods towards Crimea. Additionally, prior to the attack, the russians intensified their efforts to search for Ukrainian underground groups. These events once again indicate that the russians planned the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station and conducted a series of preparatory measures. In particular, during the spring, the russians systematically evacuated their occupational administrations from the left bank of the region.

Ukraine has already lost 6.5 cubic kilometers of water due to the russian explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station. This was reported by the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Ruslan Strylets.

The rescue operation in Kherson oblast is ongoing. As of now, 2,528 people have been evacuated from the flooded areas, including 140 children and 54 individuals with limited mobility. As of June 9th, 694 police officers are involved in the operation.

Volunteers who planned to participate in the rescue operation have been restricted from entering Kherson as of June 9. This was announced by the head of the Unified Coordination Press Center of the Defense and Security Forces of the South, Natalia Humeniuk. According to her, there are absolutely sufficient forces and resources. The operation to evacuate and eliminate the consequences of the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station will continue for several more days.

On June 8, the russian occupiers shelled peaceful settlements in Kherson oblast 44 times, firing 188 shells from artillery, mortars, aircraft, “Grad” systems, and drones. The enemy attacked Kherson 7 times, firing 25 shells at the city. russian forces targeted evacuation groups, damaged 2 educational institutions, a port, at least 30 private houses, and 2 apartment buildings. Due to russian aggression, two people were killed, and 17 were injured.

The Police of Kherson oblast is distributing humanitarian aid to those affected by the explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station. Thanks to volunteer organizations and caring citizens from across the country, assistance is being provided in Kherson, which the juvenile prevention workers are delivering to the affected individuals. Today, the juvenile prevention workers have delivered packages containing food, personal hygiene products, toys, clothing, underwear and shoes.

Agricultural workers in southern Ukraine will be changing the structure of crops and redirecting towards other sectors of agriculture due to the lack of irrigation caused by the sabotage of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station by russian forces. Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, Denis Marchuk, stated this. Due to the absence of water supply for irrigation in southern Ukraine, the losses in the grain and oilseed group alone will amount to more than $1.5 billion.

Regions of Ukraine are sending humanitarian aid to Kherson oblast. For instance, Kyiv oblast has already sent 21 boats with volunteers who will provide immediate assistance. In addition, Kyiv RMA has provided: 6 engines, 2 water regeneration and purification stations, 10 motor pumps, 4 thermal guns, 200 liters of gasoline, 200 liters of diesel fuel, 500 containers of 10 liters each for drinking water, 20 fire hoses, 20 rescue vests, 150 pairs of rubber boots, several tons of food, 8 tons of drinking water, clothing, and 200 kg of animal feed. 3,000 compact living spaces have been prepared in Kyiv oblast for people who have been affected by the flooding resulting from the sabotage of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station by russian terrorists. Ternopil oblast has also sent an additional 120 tons of drinking water. Moreover, a Coordination Center has been established in the region to support the population, provide medical and humanitarian aid, and accommodate Ukrainians who have been evacuated from the disaster area. Currently, Ternopil oblast is ready to accommodate 400 individuals. Kherson oblast received 450 boxes of individual family kits from Lviv, which include sanitary supplies for four people for a one-week period. Water tanks, cleaning and hygiene supplies, laundry detergents, diapers, towels, heating equipment, essential items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc.), field midwifery kits, antibiotic kits, antifungal medications, and other supplies were also provided.

Volyn oblast

The Blood for the Armed Forces campaign was held in Lutsk. Over 50 people donated blood for the military in a special car near Volyn RMA. At the same time, 123 residents of the community became donors in the premises of the regional blood service center.

Zakarpattia oblast

The Zakarpattia Regional Council held a meeting with Tomasz Janusz and Juray Tosha, management of Kosice Airport. The Slovak company offers to carry out registration and customs and border clearance of passengers at Uzhhorod airport and take them by bus directly to the resort in Kosice.

The Zakarpattia Regional Council reported that Kosice Airport sent 200 powerful power banks for residents of flooded territories controlled by Ukraine in Kherson oblast.

The RMA reported that the first convoy of trucks with humanitarian aid, namely, food, clothing, water, hygiene products, fuel, etc. from Zakarpattia left for Kherson oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA reported that three more families went to rest and recover as part of the Care for the Hero’s Family project.

Lviv oblast

Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine sent humanitarian aid, namely, 450 boxes of individual family kits with sanitary products, medicines, cleaning and hygiene products, diapers, towels and warm blankets, to Kherson oblast from its strategic reserve. Dry rations, sleeping bags, sleeping bags and suits that protect against hypothermia due to prolonged stay in water were sent to Kherson medics and Center workers who are already in Kherson oblast.

The Oscar Morshyn mineral water factory sent 12 trucks with drinking water. Four trucks with 80 tonnes of water have already left for Kherson, Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih. Over the next 10 days, the company plans to deliver about 120 truckloads of 260 tonnes of drinking water. Cargo is received by Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv RMAs.

Lviv City Council held a meeting with Giorgii Zakarashvili, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine and Yaroslav Muzychko, Honorary Consul of Georgia in Lviv. They discussed russia’s military aggression, the political situation in states and joint actions in the fight against the common enemy.

Lviv City Council held a meeting with Jaakko Lehtovirta, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Ukraine. Building the UNBROKEN ecosystem, as well as educational and economic projects.

900 sets of summer uniforms (pants, coat and T-shirt) were sent to the military from the oblast thanks to the Open Eyes SoftServe CF. They were sewn by the Ukrainian manufacturer M-Tas. The Open Eyes CF has already invested 13 million UAH in the tailoring of both winter and summer uniforms, which is almost 2K sets.

During the school fair in Zhovtanetsk community, collected over UAH 150K to purchase of cars for soldiers from the community. At the charity fair in Mykolaiv Lyceum, over UAH 35K were collected to purchase of SUVs for the military. Young actors of the puppet theater and the team of the city library for children from Boryslav donated UAH 11K to purchase of a drone for the defenders. Funds were collected during performances in schools and kindergartens, as well as during the fair.

The Western Ukrainian Export Forum was held in Lviv. This is the first large-scale event for the export environment, which will be a platform for product presentation and discussion of Ukrainian export trends to EU countries.

Rivne oblast

Privilna community in Duben region donated the seventh car for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was bought and repaired to meet the needs of one of the military units where Volodymyr Paska, a resident of the community, is serving.

Ternopil oblast

People who were forced to leave their homes due to the explosion of Kakhovka HPP continue to arrive in Ternopil oblast. They arrive in small groups. They travel by their own transport or regular trains with transfers.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The first meeting of the Coordination Center for the support of the civilian population was held in Khmelnytskyi. It is a consultative and advisory body under the RMA, including representatives of executive authorities, heads of structural divisions of the RMA, territorial divisions of central executive bodies, law enforcement officers and volunteers.

The RMA held a founding meeting with representatives of territorial communities of the oblast, in which the implementation of the “Insulation and repair of places of collective residence of IDPs” project is planned to be funded by the Foundation of France.

A memorandum on cooperation in the field of providing comprehensive service Veteran of Khmelnytskyi through administrative service centers in Khmelnytskyi oblast was signed in the RMA. In Centers, veterans will be able to receive social, material, economic, medical, psychological, administrative, educational, household, social and professional adaptation services.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that 10 tonnes of humanitarian aid (drinking water, food, 9 motorized pumps and 2 boats) have already been sent from Chernivtsi oblast to Kherson oblast.

The RMA reported that in the village of Hlynytsia work began on the installation of a 120-meter temporary bridge, which was donated by Norway in the form of a humanitarian road. 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Pentagon reported that the meeting in the Rammstein format will take place on June 15 in Brussels.

The US announced a new $2.1 billion military aid package to Ukraine, which will include: additional ammunition for Patriot air defense systems; HAWK air defense systems and missiles; 105-mm and 203-mm artillery shells; unmanned aerial systems Puma; ammunition for laser-guided missile systems; supporting training, maintenance and support activities.

The Council of Ministers of Belgium approved the 14th package of military aid to Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 105 mm caliber ammunition worth EUR 32.4 million. The Ministry of Defense of Belgium noted that, in addition to material support, the country has already trained over 700 Ukrainian soldiers within the framework of the EUMAM European training mission.

The German Embassy in Kyiv reported that Germany will provide Ukraine with 20 more Marder BMPs. At the end of March, Germany delivered 40 Marder BMPs with ammunition. The Ukrainian military learned to operate these infantry fighting vehicles at the military training ground at the beginning of the year.

The Danish emergency agency sent to Ukraine two powerful pumps, 35 tents for living, 3 small boats with transport rafts and a large generator. “The flooding has put a significant part of Ukraine in a terrible situation. We must do everything possible to help Ukrainians,” said Trols Lund Poulsen, Acting Minister of Defense of Denmark.

Fumio Kishido, Prime Minister of Japan, announced that the country is preparing a package of humanitarian aid for Ukraine, taking into account the list of priority needs submitted by the Ukrainian side.

The Ukrhydroenergo Ukrainian state company, which operated Kakhovka HPP, appealed to the European Court of Human Rights in connection with the destruction of the plant within the scope of the previously filed lawsuit against russia.

Ulf Kristersson, Swedish Prime Minister, and Paul Jonsson, Swedish Defense Minister, announced that the country will allow deployment of NATO troops on its territory before the official accession to the Alliance. According to them, this decision strengthens the country’s defense and sends a clear signal to russia.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan. Consequences of russia’s detonation of Kakhovka hydroelectric plant were discussed.

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, had a phone conversation with Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Netherlands. They discussed the continuation of security cooperation, regarding the training of Ukrainian pilots and the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense.

In Kryvyi Rih, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, held a video meeting with representatives of the global eco-community and invited them to the international working group on countering russia’s environmental crimes. Over 60 world political and public figures took part in the meeting.

Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, held a phone conversation with Manuel Tovar Rivera, Minister of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica. Strengthening Ukraine’s interaction with the states of Central and South America was discussed.

The delegation of Ukraine, headed by Uliana Tokareva, Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, took part in an international conference in Albania, dedicated to issues of social support for families with children. In particular, supporting Ukraine in building a sustainable, interagency early intervention system capable of warning and responding to numerous risks caused by russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine was discussed.

The Supreme Court of the Netherlands completely rejected the cassation appeal of the museums of Crimea temporarily occupied by russia and decided to return the Scythian Gold to Ukraine. The trials lasted almost 9 years.

Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, stated that the issue of Ukraine in NATO has been resolved. “Allies have repeatedly stated that they agree with the fact that Ukraine will become a member of the alliance. We unanimously decided that only Ukraine and members of the organization should decide when the time comes to officially invite Ukraine. And it does not depend on moscow and putin,” he emphasized.

Romania announced the expulsion of 40 employees of the russian embassy. According to Romania’s decision, russia should reduce the number of positions in the state by 51 positions, that is, remove 21 diplomatic positions and 30 positions of technical and administrative personnel.

The German Bild tabloid interviewed Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Consequences of russia blowing up Kakhovka HPP dam, the lack of an adequate reaction to it from international organizations, military aid from Germany, expectations from the NATO summit in Vilnius, and Ukraine’s non-involvement in the explosion at the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline were discussed.
