The russian forces continue to ignore the laws and customs of war, use terror tactics, strikes and shell both military and civilian objects. The enemy is actively using aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armoured vehicles.
The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.
On January 15, there were 86 combat clashes. The enemy launched 1 missile and 31 air strikes, 51 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks wounded civilians. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.
Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were noticed. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched 1 airstrike in the vicinity of Vesele (Kharkiv oblast). Towards Kupiansk, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 attacks near Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast). In that area, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to improve its tactical position. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).
Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 12 enemy attacks near Terny, Yampolivka, Torske (Donetsk oblast), and 18 more attacks in the vicinities of Serebrianka forestry, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Hryhorivka, and Verkhnokamianske (Donetsk oblast). The occupiers used air support to attempt to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops in that area. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at around 15x settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Torske, Serebrianka, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 6 enemy attacks in the vicinities of Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy launched an airstrike near Bohdanivka (Donetsk oblast). More than 10 settlements, including Vasyukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Niu York (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 enemy attacks in the vicinities of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and 15 more attacks in the vicinities of Sievierne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). With the air support, the invaders made unsuccessful attempts to improve its tactical position in that area. In addition, the enemy launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Oleksandropil (Donetsk oblast). They fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Oleksandropil, Novokalynove, Semenivka, Lastochkyne, Karlivka, and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Marinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the vicinities of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders used air supports and made 11 unsuccessful attempts to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops. Hostre, Kurakhove, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Katerynivka, and Yelyzavetivka were under artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Shakhtarske, the enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations. The invaders launched 1 airstrike in the vicinity of Vodiane (Donetsk oblast). The adversary fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Vodiane, Vuhledar, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, Vremivka, and Rivnopil (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). The enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain the lost ground in that area. The adversary launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Novodarivka (Zaporizhzhia oblast). Around 20 settlements, including Novodarivka, Poltavka, Huliaipole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, and Novoandriivka (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Kherson, Kherson and the vicinities of Beryslav, Tomaryne, Ivanivka, Mykilske, and Stanislav (Kherson oblast), as well as the vicinities of Dniprovske and Solonchaky (Mykolaiv oblast) came under enemy artillery fire.
The enemy has not abandoned its intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnipro River. On January 15, the enemy attempted 1 unsuccessful assault at the positions of the Ukrainian troops.
The Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 22 buildups of enemy troops, weapons and military equipment, and 1 anti-aircraft missile system.
The Ukrainian missile troops hit 1 buildup of enemy troops, 3 artillery systems, and 2 radar stations.
Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announces that the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed an enemy A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft and an IL-22 airborne control center.
In the first 2 weeks of 2024, the russian forces dropped about 250 guided aerial bombs on Avdiivka, Donetsk oblast. At the same time, the city suffered 146 airstrikes in 2023. There are still 1,131residents staying in the city.
The russian army is increasingly using chemical munitions in Ukraine, up to 10 cases are recorded daily with a total of 626, including 51 in January. K-51 and RGR grenades prevail.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Volodymyr Fito, Head of the public relations of the Ground Forces Command, reported that the russian army shelled 332 times towards Bakhmut and 574 times towards Lyman-Kupiansk. Also the russian military lost 437 soldiers and almost 130 pieces of military equipment in this area of the frontline. The russian army has approximately 62,000 soldiers towards Bakhmut.
Kharkiv oblast
According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, more than 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered artillery and mortar attacks, including Vovchansk, Bochkove, Budarky of Chuhuiv region, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove of Kupiansk region.
Vovchansk of Chuhuiv region and Vilkhuvatka of Kupiansk region were hit by enemy airstrikes.
At about 9:30 am, the enemy shelled Vilkhuvatka village, Kupiansk region. The enterprise was damaged. There were no casualties.
At 1:30 pm, the invaders attacked Kupiansk with Grad multiple rocket launchers. Residential buildings were damaged. There were no casualties.
Around 5:30 pm in the woods near Zolochiv village, Bohodukhiv region, a 56-year-old man tripped over an explosive device and sustained a shrapnel wound to the chest. The victim was hospitalised, his condition is critical.
Combined teams of bomb experts demined 3.3 hectares of territory in Kharkiv oblast and destroyed 148 explosive ordnance. Mine clearance is ongoing.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 3 enemy attacks near Synkivka and Petropavlivka of Kupiansk region.
Ivan Shevtsov, Assistant Head of Stalevyi Kordon border guard detachment, reported that the situation near Synkivka and Petropavlivka towards Kupiansk remains tense. According to him, on 14 January 304 russian servicemen were eliminated and injured, and 67 armoured vehicles destroyed towards Lyman-Kupiansk.
On 15 January, rescuer workers removed the damaged structures of the hotel in Kharkiv that was hit by a russian missile on January 10.
Donetsk oblast
Roman Padun, Head of Kurakhove City Military Administration, reported about two attacks since the beginning of the day. There is no heat supply in the town because of the shelling. Eight thousand residents remain there.
The press service of Donetsk police informed that at least 1 person was killed and 1 injured in the shelling of Krasnohorivka. Marinka community was under massive shelling from Grad MRLs and residential buildings in Krasnohorivka were hit. The White Angel police crew has arrived at the scene, along with local authorities and rescuers.
Russian troops shelled Avdiivka, Kostiantynivka, Kurakhove, Myrnohrad, Chasiv Yar cities, Lastochkyne and Soloviove villages. 40 civilian objects were damaged, specifically 27 residential buildings, a cafe, a shop, two educational institutions, an administrative building, outbuildings, cars and a gas pipeline.
Towards Pokrovsk, russia launched four missiles and fired artillery at Avdiivka. One person was injured, three apartment buildings and a private house destroyed. Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka and Kostiantynivka of Marinka community were shelled. Kurakhove was shelled four times, damaging an apartment building, a lyceum and an industrial area. Three houses were damaged in Ptyche of Novohrodivka community.
According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration towards Kramatorsk, Torske, Zarichne and Zakitne of Lyman community were shelled, without causing casualties or destruction.
Towards Bakhmut, an apartment building and 3 private houses were damaged in Chasiv Yar community. 2 streets of Siversk were under attack.
According to updated data, two S-300 missiles hit 19 private houses, a cafe, a shop, a school, outbuildings, cars, and a gas pipeline in Myrnohrad.
In total, russians shelled settlements in Donetsk oblast 16 times over a day, injuring 1 civilian. 71 people, including 9 children, were evacuated from the frontline.
The General Staff reported that Ukrainian troops repelled 60 russian attacks towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka on 14 January.
Ivan Shevtsov, Assistant Head of Stalevyi Kordon 15th mobile border guard detachment, stated that russian army has intensified its offensive towards Lyman. Also the russian army is actively using equipment, but there is no success. At the same time, all russian attacks are repelled by Ukrainian soldiers.
Vitalii Barabash, Head of Avdiivka City Military Administration, confirmed that as of 15 January, 1133 people remain in the city. Also the russian army conducts about 50 massive attacks and drops up to 30 guided bombs on the community per day.
Special Operations Forces said that Ukrainian servicemen eliminated a russian reconnaissance group towards Avdiivka, using mortars, killing three soldiers and injuring two others.
Luhansk oblast
According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the enemy heavily attacked near Makiivka and Bilohorivka, trying to advance there. The infantry was supported by aviation, which hit Bilohorivka and Serebrianka forest. Also russians attacked another village, Nevske, with mortars and artillery. At around 6 pm, two explosions occurred in the village. The extent of the destruction is being established. In total, the enemy launched 512 shells at our positions over the day.
On the eve of the russian presidential election, the invaders are trying to keep the information about the death toll of russian personnel as secret as possible. To hide the losses, in particular, the occupation administrations received orders to restrict the list of people who have access to data on the presence of russian military personnel on the territory of Ukraine. In addition, russia’s Pension Fund was ordered to hide data on payments to injured participants of the war in Ukraine and families of the deceased. The relevant services will stop uploading information about the facts of such financial support to the social security register.
In some districts of Lysychansk, 10-15% of residents remain in apartment buildings. In the area of the former rubber products plant, there is still no electricity or water supply in the houses, not to mention heating. There are 20-25 families left in buildings with 200 apartments.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, the Head of Kyiv RMA, said that more than a third of the objects damaged by the latest russian attacks have already been restored in the oblast. As a result of the January 2 attack, 99 objects in 5 regions of the oblast were damaged. 38 objects have been completely or partially restored, work is ongoing on others.
In the city of Vyshneve, which was most affected by the russian attack, the supply of heat, water, electricity and gas was restored, and the damaged windows, frames, doors, and household garbage completely removed. Thanks to the help of the Global Empowerment Mission, 317 window units have been installed in 3 high-rise buildings.
The Department of Education and Science of Kyiv RMA reported that by the end of 2023, 70 preschool education institutions have been restored in the oblast. Restoration work is ongoing in 9 kindergartens. In total, russian invaders damaged and destroyed 239 educational facilities (including 86 preschools) in the oblast.
There are 488 civil shelters in the kindergartens of Kyiv oblast, most of them are the simplest. At the expense of UNICEF funds, it is planned to repair shelters in 25 more preschool education institutions; repair work has been completed in 5 preschool education institutions.
The SSU of Rivne oblast reported that a militant from the Wagner group, a citizen of Belarus, was exposed, who was preparing sabotage at energy facilities in order to cut off power in Kyiv. He was detained in Sarny region when he tried to fix GPS trackers on the supports of the power lines. According to the security service, the Wagner terrorist illegally crossed the border with Belarus and was tasked by curators to correct russian attacks on the country’s energy system.
Irpin City Council reported that 207 housing certificates for the total amount of UAH 833 million were issued in the community. Also, the construction of 41 private houses as part of the private sector reconstruction on Bagirova Street and Hostomel Shosse is underway, while another 12 houses are being built according to the regional program. 8 apartments were provided to the residents instead of completely destroyed ones during the hostilities.
Kyiv RMA reported that Bucha community handed over the necessary military equipment to the 114th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These are binoculars, optical sights, charging stations, and special anti-thermal imaging cloaks.
Last week in Kyiv, the Ukrainian Women’s Guard and Tetiana Serebrennikova held a meeting for the psychological support of women during the war. The event took place in a cozy atmosphere of the Lesya Ukrainka Public Library. Zhytomyr oblast
Vitaliy Bunechko, Head of Zhytomyr RMA, announced that the oblast continues to involve foreign and Ukrainian experts in humanitarian demining projects in the region. Last week, memorandums were signed with the Ukrainian Association of Mine Action Operators and the LLC GK GROUP.
Residents of the village of Vorsivka of Malyn community gather every weekend at the village club to make pillows for Ukrainian defenders. Volunteers deliver them to military units. Since 2022, the villagers have handed over almost 300 pillows.
Sumy oblast
Sumy RMA reported that the russians carried out 8 attacks on 4 border communities of the oblast – Bilopillia, Esman, Velyka Pysarivka and Yunakivka. In total, there were 36 strikes from a tank, MLRS, SPG, mortars and artillery, and the russian military also dropped an VOG munition from a UAV. The night in the oblast passed without shelling.
The National Police of Sumy oblast reported that three residential buildings in Bilopillia community were damaged as a result of the russian shelling in border areas of the oblast on January 14.
The State Emergency Service reported that 17 explosive objects were neutralized by rescuers of Sumy oblast last week. During this period, pyrotechnicians of the oblast surveyed more than 170 hectares of territory. Explosive objects were discovered in Sumy, Okhtyrka, Konotop and Shostka regions.
Chernihiv oblast
The Head of Chernihiv RMA Viacheslav Chaus announced that over the past week, the russians shelled 14 border settlements of the oblast 29 times, there were 189 explosions. On January 13, as a result of a missile attack on the regional center, 23 private houses, 4 shops, as well as windows and balconies in 20 apartments of a high-rise building were damaged. No victims are reported.
Chernihiv Regional Employment Center reports that in 2023, 860 internally displaced persons applied for its services in the oblast, and 213 unemployed persons from this category of citizens found work. 34 people were sent to public and other temporary works, another 224 people performed socially useful work as part of the government Recovery Army project.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

2 pharmacies and a store, 2 high-rise buildings, 2 private houses, 5 farm buildings, 2 gas pipelines and a power line were damaged. About 2,000 families were left without electricity. There were no casualties.
The Air Defence Force shot down a Kh-59 missile over Dnipro region.
Vinnytsia oblast
City Mayor Serhii Morhunov announced that Vinnytsia oblast sent 10 thermal imagers to one of the military units. In general, Vinnytsia community currently supports about 30 military units.
The Department of Social Policy conducts dialogue meetings to find the needs of fallen defenders’ families. There were 9 meetings in 2023. Family members are provided with consultations regarding their status, benefits, etc. It is important that anyone can ask questions and get relevant answers from the department’s specialists, the pension fund and the social offices of Vinnytsia.
Kirovohrad oblast
Defenders from Kirovohrad oblast – Oleksandr Hryb, Viktor Zazymko, Vladyslav Tabachynskyi, and Oleksandr Chernychka – were killed.
Senior soldier Oleksandr Hryb from Pishchanyi Brid community, Novoukrainka region was killed in action on January 9. The fighter was 25 years old.
Viktor Zazymko was killed on January 11. He served in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, located in Kostiantynivka village, Donetsk oblast.
25-year-old Vladyslav Tabachynskyi from Klyntsi village of Pervozvanivka community was killed on January 9 in the area of Novomykhailivka village, Donetsk oblast.
Oleksandr Chernychka from Inhulo-Kamianka of Novhorodkiv community was killed on May 16, 2022 in the area of Toshkivka village, Luhansk oblast.
Poltava oblast
Poltava soldiers mourned its defenders, Oleksandr Yuzukhovych and Oleksandr Dudnyk.
Oleksandr Yuzukhovych, 48-year-old junior sergeant, died as a defender on January 4, 2024. It happened near Avdiivka, Donetsk oblast, as a result of russian military assault.
Sergeant Oleksandr Dudnyk, 39, died on January 10, 2024, near the village of Kysorychi in Rivne oblast due to a sudden deterioration in his health.
Cherkasy oblast
A wing of a downed russian drone was auctioned off in Uman. The fundraiser was organized by Uman Running Club to buy a car for its member, who is currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The cost of the vehicle is over UAH 400 K. The wing of the downed Shahed was painted by Uman artist Anna Buletsa. In total, the auction raised UAH 13 K.

Yesterday, occupiers launched 84 strikes on 19 cities and villages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy shelled Novodanylivka and Novodarivka with MLRS, and also attacked Huliaipole, Charivne, Chervone, Malynivka, Novodarivka, Mala Tokmachka, Levadne, Poltavka, and Piatyhatky with 21 drones. 61 artillery strikes hit the areas of Novoandriivka, Zaliznychne, Levadne, Poltavka, Pryiutyne, Robotyne, Kamianyste, Lobkove, Plavni, and other frontline settlements. There were 13 reports of residential buildings and infrastructure objects being damaged.
The General Staff reports that Ukrainian defenders repelled 10 enemy attacks near Chervone, west of Verbove, and Roboyine towards Zaporizhia.
On January 14, a powerful explosion occurred in the temporarily occupied Melitopol, as a result of a special operation carried out by Ukrainian resistance forces. A UAZ “Patriot” vehicle belonging to russian occupiers was blown up. Four occupiers were injured along with the Moscow SUV.
The press service of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade Kholodnyi Yar reports that Serviceman Eduard Barsehian from Zaporizhzhia received the Cross of the Brave from Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine. Currently, the fighter is serving towards Bahmut in Klishchiivka.
Mykolaiv oblast
Mykolaiv RMA reports that on January 14, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community with two FPV drones. There were no casualties or damage reported. However, due to the morning shelling, a private residential house was destroyed in the village of Dniprovka, Kutsurub community. It is reported that at the time of the strike, a woman and two teenage girls were inside the house. The children were injured, with one girl suffering severe concussion, and the condition of the other is currently unknown.
In 2023, Mykolaiv oblast became one of the regions visited by the Behind Blue Eyes project. The project started almost two years ago when a team of volunteers, assisting residents of the de-occupied Chernihiv region, recognized a special need for supporting children and their ability to dream. The children from de-occupied and front-line villages of Ukraine document life on film cameras and make their dreams come true. As part of the project, each child interested in participating received a film camera and a week to capture everything that caught their attention. The project team only teaches children how to use the device, and then each child independently decides what and how to preserve it on film. The photos reflect the daily routine of the children, the consequences of war—family yards, war-damaged houses, fantastic sunsets, blooming roses, sand chools with closed plywood windows. Their dreams are about victory and peace in Ukraine (each child wrote about this), about guests and a hedgehog-shaped toy, about the health of loved ones, and about good teachers.
Odesa oblast
Yesterday, an official delegation from Germany, led by a member of the Bundestag Committee on Defense Policy and representative of the Free Democratic Party of Germany, Markus Faber, visited the port of Odesa. The delegation familiarized themselves with the work of the Odesa seaport in challenging wartime circumstances, witnessed the destruction firsthand, and spoke with the port workers. Markus Faber is one of the German politicians who insisted on providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Leopard tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles, and other weaponry. Seeing the situation on the Black Sea coast and the effective work to ensure the Ukrainian grain corridor, Markus Faber promised to make every effort to provide further assistance with stronger means of defense and in greater quantity. Odesa RMA reports that the photo exhibition Bravely Carry the Light was opened in Odesa National Art Museum. Renowned Ukrainian photographers shared their images depicting the most challenging winter in the entire history of modern Ukraine. The exhibition also featured a photo book of the same name.
Kherson oblast
It is reported that russians dropped an explosive device from a drone on a resident of Beryslav. The 54-year-old woman sustained injuries to her back and legs.
Enemy artillery strikes targeted Stanislav. There were hits on residential buildings, and a 69-year-old woman was injured in her own home. The city ambulance center was also shelled, an emergency vehicle damaged.
Yesterday, the enemy conducted 121 shelling attacks, firing 788 shells from mortars, artillery, MLRSs, tanks, and UAVs. The city of Kherson was targeted with 42 shells. 4 people were injured.
Residential buildings in Mykilske, Inhulets, and Sadove suffered from enemy attacks. Stanislav was attacked with drones and artillery. As a result of air strikes on January 13, the police recorded significant damage to 29 private houses and the territory of the plant in Beryslav and Shliakhove. 6 investigations into war crimes committed by russian military personnel were initiated.
Towards Kherson, the Ukrainian forces continue efforts to expand the bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson oblast. The enemy carried out 7 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukrainian defenders over the past day. The occupiers actively conduct aerial reconnaissance, continue to press with artillery shelling, and use various types of UAVs.
According to the South Operational Command, the enemy lost 21 occupiers, 1 Osa anti-aircraft missile system, 1 Grad multiple launch rocket system, 1 tank, 7 guns, 2 Murm-M video surveillance complexes, 1 radio-electronic warfare antenna system, 1 radar reconnaissance antenna, 2 reconnaissance UAVs of the Merlin type, 1 UAV control station, 4 units of armoured vehicles, and 3 boats. Another observation post and a field supply point were destroyed.
Mobile clinic medics consulted patients in Chkalove, Mala Oleksandrivka, Novopavlivka, and Blahodativka. Over four days, from January 11 to 14, 97 residents received medical consultations from a family doctor and an endocrinologist.
The humanitarian mission team Proliska Kherson provided 14 Kherson residents with ESK kits, OSB sheets, and tarpaulins for emergency housing repairs. The housing of the city residents was damaged due to another shelling attack on the Dnipro and Central districts of the city. This support became possible thanks to UNHCR Ukraine – the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine.
Last week, 600 families living in rural areas received heating materials. In total, more than 10,600 households received firewood, briquettes, and coal, another 3,400 received cash assistance. Currently, the need is covered by 53%.
Medical institutions in Kherson oblast received two diesel generators. They will be used to ensure the stable operation of hospitals in Kherson and Beryslav in case of possible power outages. This assistance was provided by the International Organization for Migration.

A shelter was built in the regional lyceum specialized in enhanced military and physical training. The shelter, 5m-deep 605 square meters in size, is designed for 600 children and has a medical point, toilets, four halls and technical premises. Classes can be held in the shelter during air raids. It is also provided for 200 children to rest and spend the night during the nighttime alarm. It took almost three months to build the shelter. About UAH 22 mln were allocated, including UAH 12.2 mln subsedized from the state budget, and UAH 11 mln from the regional and local budgets.
Zakarpattia oblast
Representatives of Zakarpattia Regional Council went on another humanitarian mission to the front-line zone, delivering transport means and other necessary things to the military.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
One of the rifle battalions, currently fighting in Donetsk oblast, received a DJI Mavic 3T quadcopters equipped with night vision equipment worth over UAH 710K. It was purchased thanks to the regional budget as part of the program to support military formations.
Lviv oblast
Lviv community continues to support the Ukrainian army. 2 backhoe loaders worth over UAH 3.6 mln were purchased for the A2755 military unit.
The Christmas Star event was held in the village of Kolodentsi. Creative teams from Zhovtanetsk community organized a charity fair and a performance. Also, the family-friendly nativity scene of Kolodenetsk and Zhotanetsky families joined the fund-raising. In total, UAH 110 365 was collected for the Armed Forces during the festival.
On the facade of Zahirochkiv Gymnasium in Khodorov, memorial plaques were installed in memory of fallen soldiers Yurii Pavlyshin and Mykhailo Shkirka. Yurii Pavlyshin was an operator of the electronic warfare unit of the 24th bridge. He was killed on April 16, 2022 near Popasna, Luhansk oblast. The soldier was posthumously awarded the Hero’s Cross award and the III degree For Courage orders. Mykhailo Shkirka was the commander of the 2nd rifle division of the 1st rifle platoon of the military unit A4821. He was killed while performing a combat mission near the village of Novostorivka, Svativ region, Luhansk oblast.
In Lviv, children have resumed their studies at the Oriana lyceum, the school most damaged by the December 29 missile attack. Almost 80% of damaged windows and doors have already been replaced. Some of the students are currently continuing their studies remotely due to renovation works. The school building where primary school students studied was the most damaged. There, three walls had to be demolished and the floor stripped. Besides, problems with heating were discovered.
Rivne oblast
The RMA presented state awards and honours to employees of Rivneoblenerho company. Since October 2023, during 15 shifts, they had been returning light to residents of liberated Kherson oblast. The energy engineers put 14 substations into operation, repaired over 160 km of overhead lines damaged by the occupier, which made it possible to restore electricity supply to the settlements of seven communities of Beryslav region, Kherson oblast.
Ternopil oblast
An ambulance with everything necessary to provide primary medical care was sent to the soldiers of Ternopil battalion. The car was purchased with personal funds of the head and heads of departments of Ternopil City Council.
Ternopil City Council sent 20 Lenovo laptops, 10 Volt uninterruptible power supplies and 5 JACKERY EXPLORER charging stations, worth UAH 1 mln 135,5K to Ukrainian defenders.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council allocated UAH 60K to 7 families of prisoners of war or missing soldiers, the total amount is UAH 420K. In total, 122 families have received such assistance for UAH 6.2 mln.
Chernivtsi oblast
The Song Armor charity festival was held in Chernivtsi. More than UAH 16 thousand raised will be used to purchase a drone.
Chernivtsi received a forklift and a cargo-passenger car from the community of the sister city of Mannheim.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Ukraine and Switzerland signed a joint communique in Davos. The press release recorded the agreement that the security of Ukraine is an inseparable part of global and regional security, therefore the war against Ukraine is one of the main destabilizing factors in the world.
Ukraine started negotiations with Romania on security guarantees. This is the 9th state with which such negotiations are conducted.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, arrived in Switzerland to take part in the Davos Forum, as well as hold talks with the country’s leaders. The President will first hold talks with heads of both chambers of the parliament, heads of parties and factions, and President Viola Amherd in Bern. He also plans to discuss the return of Ukrainian children kidnapped by russia, sanctions and the search for mechanisms for the use of frozen russian assets, cooperation on humanitarian demining, financial support and reconstruction of Ukraine.
The United Nations asked donors to allocate $4.2 bln to support Ukrainian communities affected by the war and Ukrainian refugees during 2024. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian federation, 14.6 mln Ukrainians, or 40% of the population, are in need of humanitarian assistance. The UN will not be able to support them all. In total, two high-priority UN plans are aimed at supporting about 10.8 mln people in Ukraine.

The organization explained such assessments by the fact that every day in Ukraine, civilians either killed or injured. Russian forces are destroying Ukrainian homes and critical infrastructure facilities. Also, difficult weather conditions deteriorate the situation in winter. According to UN estimates, about 6.3 ml Ukrainians were forced to go abroad after the full-scale russian invasion.
Last December, 81 medical workers from 16 medical institutions from all over Ukraine took part in scientific events (conferences, congresses, congresses), educational events (internships, studies, trainings, seminars) and exchange of experience. Most of the medics were trained in European countries, including Germany, Poland, and France. Medical conferences and scientific congresses were also held in the US. Educational exchanges take place, in particular, within the framework of international medical partnerships. In November 2023, 238 medical workers from 49 medical institutions took part in scientific events.
