It has been the 681st day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On January 5, there were 56 combat clashes. The russian army launched a total of 3 missile and 16 air strikes, 12 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, russian terrorist attacks killed and wounded civilians. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.

Also, on the night of January 5, 2024, the russian occupiers launched yet another attack on Ukraine, using 29 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Defense destroyed 21 enemy drones.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there are no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were noticed. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. Around 15 settlements, including Popivka (Chernihiv oblast), Znob-Trubchevska, Seredyna-Buda, Marchykhyna Buda, Vovkivka (Sumy oblast), Hatyshche, Bochkove, and Dvorichanske (Kharkiv oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kupiansk, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 7 attacks of russian forces in the vicinity of Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Lyman, the enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations. The adversary fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Torske, Verkhnokamianske, and Spirne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 enemy attacks near Klishchiivka and Andriivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy attempted to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops in that area. More than 10 settlements, including Vasyukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Niu York (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 enemy attacks in the vicinities of Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and 16 more attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). The invaders made unsuccessful attempts to improve their tactical position in that area. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Novokalynove, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Vodiane, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Marinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the occupiers near Marinka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). The enemy made 15 unsuccessful attempts to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops in this area. Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka, Marinka, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka were under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Shakhtarske, the enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Urozhaine, and Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the adversary did not conduct any offensive (assault) operations. More than 15 settlements, including Levadne, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Piatykhatky, and Kamianske (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Kherson, Zolota Balka, Ivanivka, Sadove, Kherson, Blahovishchenske, Veletenske, Kizomys (Kherson oblast), and Solonchaky (Mykolaiv oblast) came under enemy artillery fire. Also, the russian milirary launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Chervonyi Mayak (Kherson oblast).

The occupiers have not abandoned their intention to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. For instance, during the day of January 5, the adversary attempted 10 unsuccessful assault operations, but the Ukrainian troops continue to hold their positions and inflict significant losses on the invaders.

Ukrainian rocket troops hit 1 enemy command post, 1 ammunition depot, and 1 artillery system.

Tetiana Katrychenko, Executive Director of the Regional Center for Human Rights, reports that 23 wounded soldiers from Olenivka returned to Ukraine. Currently, work is underway to identify the people who were in the barracks at the time of the explosion.

Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation, says that Ukraine has created the D-21-1- ground robot that can perform combat missions, such as reconnaissance, assault, or defense.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that more than 15 settlements in Kharkiv oblast suffered enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including Udy of Bohodukhiv region, Vovchansk, Mala Vovcha of Chuhuiv region, Potykhonove, Synkivka, Tabaivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove of Kupiansk region.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 6 enemy attacks near Synkivka and Petropavlivka of Kupiansk region.

At 12:05 am, the enemy attacked Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region. A private house was damaged. There were no casualties.

Around 8 and 8:50 pm, the enemy launched a missile attack and shelled Lyptsi village, Kharkiv region, with artillery and MRLs. There is no information about destruction and casualties.

As a result of the hostilities in Kharkiv oblast, 16074 customers in 65 settlements of Izium, Kupiansk, Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv and Chuhuiv regions lost power. The power supply is being restored.

Combined teams of bomb experts cleared 10.5 hectares of mines and destroyed 286 explosive ordnance in Kharkiv oblast. Mine clearance is ongoing.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv RMA, informed that russian troops intensified shelling in the north of Kharkiv oblast in 2024 and may have changed their tactics. He noted that over three days, russians hit Lyptsi with 10 S-300 missiles, and then with artillery and other types of weapons.

On 4 January, The Telegraph, the British newspaper, published an article stating that Ukraine was preparing for a russian offensive in Kharkiv oblast due to intensifying strikes on the territory of the region. The article suggested 15 January as a possible date for a ground offensive. According to Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, there are currently no russian troop concentrations in various frontline areas near the oblast but russia has not abandoned its plans to occupy the territories of Kharkiv oblast.

Donetsk oblast

The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian troops repelled 32 russian attacks towards  Avdiivka. They also attacked near Bakhmut, Marinka and towards Kupiansk.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, russian troops shelled Ukrainsk in the morning. The shelling damaged a school and apartment residential buildings. There were no casualties.

Also, the russian army focused its attacks on 6 settlements: Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Kurakhove, Myrnohrad cities, Katerynivka and Novobakhmutivka villages.

39 civilian objects were damaged: 20 residential buildings, a kindergarten, a school, a cafe, an agricultural and industrial enterprise, a base of building materials, administrative buildings, a health centre, a garage, cars and a transformer.

The invaders attacked Kurakhove with five S-300 missiles and then artillery. 14 apartment buildings, educational institutions, businesses and other infrastructure were destroyed. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.

Russians launched six S-300 missiles at Myrnohrad. One of the enterprises was damaged.

In Krasnohorivka, enemy shells hit a private house. A 73-year-old woman was killed.

Russian troops shelled Katerynivka with artillery, killing a 68-year-old man and injuring another civilian. Two private houses were destroyed.

Avdiivka continues to suffer from massive attacks. A 55-year-old woman was injured as a result of a Grad MRL attack.

In addition, one person was killed in Avdiivka and one injured in Toretsk.

Vitalii Barabash, Head of Avdiivka City Military Administration, informed that there are still 1169 residents in Avdiivka. On 4 January, four more people left during the evacuation. The situation is escalating towards Avdiivka.

The cultural and artistic event, Marathon of Good Events, helped to congratulate 70 K children in Donetsk oblast on Christmas and New Year holidays. Donetsk RMA launched this event two years ago to support displaced children. The campaign included festive events and sweet gifts for the children.

Luhansk oblast

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the invaders hit Nevske with four KAB-500 guided  bombs. They destroyed two more houses. There were no casualties.

The underground mines in Skhidvuhillia in the occupied Luhansk oblast have accumulated wage debts of RUB 400 million.

In the fourth quarter of last year, employees received almost no money. Funds from their own production disappeared without explanation so now they are trying to solve this problem at the expense of the ‘luhansk people’s republic’ budget.

In Novopskov region, there is no bus service between settlements, which used to operate regularly before the full-scale invasion. For instance, a bus used to run daily to Hanusivka, which is located almost on the border with russia. Since the arrival of russians, not a single bus has operated. To get to Novopskov, locals have to hire a private carrier, which costs an average of RUB 1,500.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

 Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv RMA, announced that the damage in all multi-apartment buildings that suffered from the russian missile attack on January 2 will be eliminated as soon as possible. According to him, all those injured after the russian attack are in a stable condition and recovering. 16 victims, including an 8-year-old child, have minor and moderate injuries.

The State Emergency Service reported that rescuers continue sorting through the rubble of a high-rise building in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv, that was damaged by the russian missile attack on January 2. Rescuers helped utility services and volunteers dismantle concrete structures using chainsaws, hydraulic and electric tools.

A farewell ceremony was held in Kyiv’s Holy Intercession Cathedral for Liudmyla Shevtsova, researcher and lecturer at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy National University, who was killed as a result of the russian shelling on January 2. As a result of the missile attack, two high-rise residential buildings in Solomianskyi district caught fire, besides Shevtsova, one more person was killed, and more than 50 injured.

Anatolii Fedoruk, Mayor of Bucha, said that the first exchange of eRenovation housing certificate for a new home was held in Ukraine. A family from Hostomel bought a house in Bucha using a housing certificate. During the hostilities, their modern townhouse was burned to the ground. In total, 1,826 housing certificates were issued to pay compensation for completely destroyed housing, more than 400 of which have reserved funds for the purchase of new housing by families.

Oleksandr Markushyn, Mayor of Irpin, announced that a Book of Memory is being created in the city. This is a project initiated by the city council to record the stories of residents who were killed during the russian full-scale invasion to the region. It is noted that this should be a single name register of community residents killed by the russian aggression.

Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that the RMA together with AVT Bavaria handed over 15 SUVs to military mobile fire groups. Funds for their purchase were collected together with UNITED24. Recently, the regional military administration, with the support of communities, regions and businesses, has handed over 75 vehicles.

Kyiv RMA reported that the  concept of the pilot project of commemoration of memorial sites was presented in the oblast. It aims to create a map of places commemorating the memory and heroism of the Ukrainian people. 

Zhytomyr oblast

Vitlaiy Bunechko, Head of Zhytomyr RMA, met with the military and checked the condition of the unit’s equipment and announced that the fighters of the separate anti-aircraft and machine gun unit, which protect the airspace in the oblast, have all the necessary equipment and machinery for their effective serving. 

Zhytomyr RMA reported that six defenders from the oblast returned from russian captivity. They were among 230 Ukrainians who were exchanged for russian prisoners on January 4.

Another evacuation train arrived in the city of Berdychiv with 11 citizens from the areas where hostilities are taking place. Among the arrivals are three minor children and three persons with disabilities. As reported in the regional military administration, a total of almost 60K internally displaced persons have found shelter in Zhytomyr oblast since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Most of them live in the private sector. To support them, government decisions provide for regular cash payments, as well as assistance from international organizations operating under the auspices of the United Nations.

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reported that russian forces carried out 6 shelling attacks of the border areas and settlements of the oblast with a total of 20 hits from mortars, artillery and small arms. The communities of Bilopillia, Shalyhine, Seredina-Buda, Svesa and Znob-Novhorodske came under shelling.

There were 10 shelling attacks of five border communities, specifically Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Khotyn, Velyka Pysarivka, and Esmans communities with 38 explosions recorded. The enemy struck using mortars, artillery, including barrel, AGS, and also dropped the VOG explosive device from the UAV.

The regional SSU department reported that comprehensive counter-sabotage measures are ongoing in Sumy oblast bordering russia. Residents are asked to remain calm, understand possible inconveniences and respond responsibly to the legal demands of participants in counter-subversive measures.

Other regions of Ukraine are planned to be involved in constructing fortifications in Sumy oblast. Volodymyr Artyukh, Head of the RMA, discussed the mechanism of cooperation with representatives of Lviv and Ternopil oblasts, the military leadership and participants of the regional group on coordination of measures for the construction of military engineering and fortification facilities.

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv’s border detachment reported that russian troops fired 10 mortar strikes in the vicinity of Bleshnia of Semenivka community and 3 hits from a mortar in the area of Kliusy of Snovsk community.

Chernihiv City Council reported that 84% of the city contact trolleybus network, which was destroyed by the russian army as a result of aerial bombardment, artillery and mortar attacks during active hostilities in February-March 2022 has been restored. The contact network of one microdistrict remains unrestored, but passengers will use a trolleybus with autonomous operation.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that the military destroyed 6 enemy Shahed drones over Kryvyi Rih region. The enemy shelled Nikopol region with artillery at night. They hit the district center, Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities. They fired about fifteen shells. The occupiers fired a missile at Kryvyi Rih region. The enemy also attacked Nikopol region 7 times during the day. They used artillery and kamikaze drones to hit Nikopol and Marhanets community. There were several fires. Houses were damaged, one of them was completely destroyed, power lines and gas pipelines were damaged too.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia City Council announced that a patriotic drawing competition among the VinSmart Center students, Your Palms are My Wings, was held in Vinnytsia. As part of the competition the best children’s drawings were reduced to a small size to create keychains. As a result a hundred accessories were made and sent to Ukrainian defenders to boost their morale.

A traditional table tennis tournament among school staff has ended in Vinnytsia. The money raised will be used to purchase a bulletproof vests with ceramic plates for the 95th Aeparate Air Assault Brigade.

Kirovohrad oblast

Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, reported that the Air Defense were on alert at night in Kirovograd oblast.

Yulia Khulish,  volunteer with the Machok Charitable Organisation, reported that Kropyvnytskyi and British volunteers bought four pickup trucks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine by collecting points under the loyalty program of the multi-partner platform.

A Mitsubishi L200 Animal pickup truck was sent to the 23rd Special Forces Battalion, a Separate Presidential Brigade that is fighting the enemy in the hellscape of Donetsk oblast.

Poltava oblast

Filip Pronin, Head of the RMA, announced that 2 pickup trucks were delivered to the military from Poltava region. The vehicles will become reliable helpers in the performance of combat missions.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of the RMA, reported that in the sky over the region the military destroyed 5 enemy Shahed drones. In two cases, power lines were damaged as a result of the fall of UAV debris.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday the russian military launched 199 strikes on 17 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. 55 enemy drones targeted Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Robotyne, Malynivka, Poltavka, Novodarivka, Charivne, Novoandriivka, Levadne, and Kamianske. Occupiers carried out aerial attacks on Orikhiv and Novodarivka, while also shelling Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, and Novodanylivka with multiple rocket launchers. Huliaipole, Robotyne, Charivne, Chervone, Levadne, Poltavka, Piatyhatky, Kamianske, Mali Shcherbaky, and other frontline towns and villages experienced 139 artillery bombardments. There were eight reports of residential buildings and infrastructure being destroyed.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled eight enemy attacks near Robotyne and northwest of Verbove on the Zaporizhzhia front. It was reported by the General Staff.

Currently, two individuals remain hospitalized with severe injuries from the massive rocket attack on Zaporizhzhia on December 29. Municipal services have already dealt with the aftermath of the missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv RMА reports that a fire broke out at the premises of an agricultural enterprise in one of the settlements of Bashtanka community due to the impact of an Shahed 131/136 UAV. The fire was extinguished. Additionally, damage was inflicted on a kindergarten building, a village culture house, and private houses. There were no casualties reported as a result of the shelling.

Mykolaiv RMА says that currently there are 402 Invincibility Centres ready to perform their functions in Mykolaiv oblast.

Oleksandr Sienkevych, Mayor of Mykolaiv, says that in 2023, Mykolaiv established partnerships with four European cities: Saint Helier (Jersey), Kristiansand (Norway), Aalborg (Denmark), and Durres (Albania), and plans to formalise partnerships with three more: Glasgow (Scotland), Kotka (Finland), and Bari (Italy) in 2024. Additionally, a memorandum was signed in 2023 with the French association Narbonne-Ukraine.

Odesa oblast

According to the South Operational Command, russian military forces have two frigates, Makarov and Essen, stationed in the Black Sea. These ships are surface-to-surface missile carriers with a total salvo of up to 16 Kalibr missiles. 

According to the Harvest Commodities investor, Nils Troost, the export capacity for grain crops through Danube ports may increase in 2024. In connection with this, the Swiss company Harvest Commodities has become a sponsor for the construction of new grain storage facilities in Izmail. 

Kherson oblast

Today, russian forces shelled Dniprovskyi district in Kherson city. As a result of the strikes, a fire broke out at an agricultural enterprise, and a residential building was damaged. Four people were injured.

The russian army conducted 125 bombardments, firing 639 projectiles from mortars, artillery, “Grad” MLRS, tanks, aircraft, and UAVs, including 4 Shahed UAVs. The city of Kherson was targeted with 31 shells. One person was killed, and seven others were injured. The police initiated 19 investigations into war crimes committed by russian forces in Kherson oblast.

During a recent night drone attack in Kherson oblast, a Shahed strike hit a residential area in the regional center, causing significant damage to a private house. Drones struck an administrative building and a modular town in Tiahynka community. Two civilians were injured. Anti-aircraft defense units destroyed 4 kamikaze drones in Kherson oblast.

Ukrainian soldiers continue to expand their foothold on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson oblast. Despite significant losses, the enemy persists in attempting to dislodge Ukrainian forces from their positions. During the past day, the enemy conducted 6 unsuccessful assault actions.

Occupying forces actively conduct aerial reconnaissance, increase artillery shelling, and use combat drones against coastal and more remote populated areas in both Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. Defense forces continue to inflict fire damage on enemy locations, firing positions, rear areas, and observation points.

Confirmed enemy losses over the past day include 24 occupiers, 1 Osa anti-aircraft missile system, 1 Lancet UAV, 3 artillery pieces, 1 mortar, 1 boat, and 6 armoured vehicles. Two observation points and 1 UAV launch vehicle were destroyed.

Kherson Art Museum has identified another stolen painting that russian forces brought to the Central Museum of Tavrida in Crimea. This work, titled “Transcarpathian Motif” by Leonid Chychkan, was spotted in a propaganda video in September 2023. It is the 79th piece identified among those stolen from Kherson Art Museum, confirming their illegal presence in Crimea.

The Ukrainian Red Cross delivered humanitarian aid to residents of Kherson oblast. Warm blankets, bedding sets, heaters, candles, and other essential items were provided to the residents of Bilozirkea, Velyka Oleksandrivka, Novovorontsovsk, and Kherson communities.

A medical facility in Kherson received portable charging stations from the DronUA charitable foundation, supported by the Crimean Front public initiative. These devices will ensure uninterrupted power supply for refrigerators storing donor blood.

Nearly 1000 New Year’s gifts were distributed to children in Kherson oblast by the World Central Kitchen. During Christmas and New Year holidays, the volunteers distributed sweets to children in the communities of Novoraisk, Mylove, Kalynivka, Beryslav, Tiahynka, Nova Oleksandrivka, and Nova Kakhovka.

Representatives of the international organization Humanity and Inclusion/Handicap International (HI) visited Kherson. Their activities are focused on supporting people living in poverty and isolation who have suffered from disasters. The organization operates in Mykolaiv oblast and will soon start assisting residents of Kherson oblast.

A group of 25 children and 5 adults from Kherson, Bilozerka, Chornobaivka, Veletenske, Stanislav, and Pryozerne went for rehabilitation to Poland. The program includes excursions, masterclasses, and activities to keep the children entertained.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The military unit А7086 received 6 DJI Mavic 3 fly more combo quadcopters and a set of remote antenna Avanger Booster 2.4G/5.8G with a dual-band signal amplifier for DJI Mavic 3E, Matrix and Autel quadcopters with a cable, tripod-bracket and adapter from Lutsk City Council.

Zakarpattia oblast

During a working trip, Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs, visited fighters of the Lyit brigade of the Offensive Guard, serving in Donetsk oblast. A defender from Irshava who performs combat tasks on the line of contact with the enemy received an award from the hands of the Minister. 

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The 102nd separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Brigade received 2 night vision devices and a drone worth over UAH 400K thanks to the regional budget, allocated within the framework of the military formation support program, and collected during the last charity auction held in Halych.

Ivano-Frankivsk sent 175 drones and 4 Mavics to the 109th battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade. Also 38 FPV drones were sent to the tactical group Sapsan of the 24th brigade.

Lviv oblast

Over 67K people received help inCoordination Centers for the support of the civilian population in 2023. Free services were provided to 3 924 residents of the oblast as legal consultations, 7 051 people received financial assistance; 19 251 people received psychological support and 24 225 – humanitarian aid.

Lviv RMA sent trawls and excavators to the 45th separate artillery brigade thanks to the Safe Lviv Oblast Comprehensive Program.

A defender from Sokal region was awarded with the Silver Cross badge. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Senior Lieutenant Volodymyr Pogranichny volunteered to defend Ukraine as part of the 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade.

Rivne oblast

The RMA held a meeting with a representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights. Participants agreed on openness and cooperation in future joint activities.

Oleksandr Korniychuk, representative of the Verhovna Rada Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights in Rivne oblast, announced the opening of the Center for the Protection of Children’s Rights in Rivne oblast.

Ternopil oblast

The oblast sent five 5 kW diesel generators to the anti-aircraft machine gun battalion, which was formed in Ternopil oblast. Such automatic generators are devices for backup power supply. When the voltage in the network drops, they are automatically turned on, and after stabilization, they are turned off by themselves. The anti-aircraft machine gun battalion of Ternopil oblast is already equipped with machines equipped with large-calibre machine guns, means of autonomous communication, surveillance, early detection of targets and other special equipment.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In the morning, during the air alert, ​​the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated 3 Shahed UAVs. Residents were not injured, there was no damage to the infrastructure.

Chernivtsi oblast

Germany announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, including the SKYNEX air defense system with ammunition, 2 TRML-4D radars, 10 Marder BMPs, ammunition for the Leopard 2A6, missiles for the IRIS-T SLM air defense system, missiles for the Patriot air defense system, 9 080 155 mm ammunition, 2 WISENT demining vehicles, 1 Biber bridge-builder tank, 3 350 combat helmets, 30 drone detection systems, 10 GO1 ground surveillance radars, 10 Zetros trucks, 3 8×8 HX81 tractors, a semi-trailer, 34 other vehicles, 305 MK 556 assault rifles, 0.75 mln rounds of ammunition, and 1,152 winter camouflage nets.

Slovakia sent a 21-tonnes cargo of humanitarian aid, including power plants, heaters, clothing, first-aid kits, food and drinking water, worth €203K to Ukraine.

Belgium sends two F-16s to Denmark to train Ukrainian pilots. 2 two-seater combat training aircraft will be deployed at the Danish Skidstrup Air Base from March to September 2024. The Belgian training program will include the training of not only pilots, but also Ukrainian technicians and specialists in mission planning.

The Pentagon reported that Ukrainian pilots undergoing F-16 fighter jet training in the US are expected to complete it by the end of 2024.

The US seeks to help Ukraine develop its own military-industrial base. According to Matthew Miller, State Department spokesman, the US does not believe that there is a need to continue support at the previous level, because Washington’s goal is to help Kyiv stand on its own two feet and build its own military-industrial base so that it can finance itself to produce and purchase weapons.

In Britain, due to the demand caused by the war in Ukraine, the production of M777 howitzers is being resumed. The company has signed an initial $50 mln deal with the US Army to give the new program a boost while they finalize the details of a broader contract.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, had a conversation with Giorgia Meloni, Head of the Council of Ministers of Italy. Further steps of defense cooperation were discussed.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President, held a phone conversation with Timothy Barrow, British Prime Minister’s adviser on national security. They discussed the preparation of the next meeting of national security advisers and political advisers of country leaders regarding the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula, which will be held in Davos in January.

The State Property Fund and the Ministry of Economy held an online meeting with representatives of the State Holding Agency of France. They discussed the management state property strategy in Ukraine.
