Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks wounded civilians. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
Towards Volyn and Polissia, there were no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group were noticed. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. More than 20 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Volfyne, Ryasne, Sadky (Sumy oblast), Ivashky, Udy, Vovchansk, Budarky, and Ambarne (Kharkiv oblast).
Towards Kupiansk, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 6 attacks in the vicinity of Synkivka (Kharkiv oblast). In that area, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to break through the defences of Ukrainian troops. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).
Towards Lyman, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 24 attacks in the area of Serebrianka forestry, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast) and Vesele (Donetsk oblast). In the area, the occupiers made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders launched airstrikes near the settlements of Terny, Dibrova, Siversk, Vyimka, Spirne, and Vesele (Donetsk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Tor’ke, Serebrianka, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 4 enemy attacksnear Bohdanivka (Donetsk oblast). Around 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasyukivka, Kalynivka, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Andriivka, and Niu York (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Avdiivka, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 20 enemy attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and 12 more attacks in the vicinities of Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast), where the enemy made failed attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. Also, the occupiers launched an airstrike near Novobakhmutivka (Donetsk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Ocheretyne, Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Sievierne, and Pervomaiske (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Marinka, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the vicinity of Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the russian forces launched 3 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders. The settlements of Heorhiivka, Marinka, Pobieda, Novomykhailivka, Kostiantynivka were under artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Shakhtarske, Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 attacks in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The russian army fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Urozhaine, and Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast).
Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 2 adversary attacks near Robotyne (Zaporizhzhia oblast). In that area, the enemy made failed attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions. Around 20 settlements, including Levadne, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv, and Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Kherson, the enemy fired artillery at the city of Kherson, the settlements of Tiahynka, Antonivka (Kherson oblast) and Solonchaky, Kutsurub (Mykolaiv oblast).
The enemy does not abandon his intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the enemy made 12 unsuccessful assaults and suffered significant losses. The Ukrainian troops are holding the line, continuing to retain their positions and firing on the enemy.

Dmytro Lubinets, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, says that Ukraine returned four citizens home from russia and handed over humanitarian packages and letters to the prisoners.
Mykola Kuleba, former Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights and founder of Save Ukraine, reports that three more children were returned from the occupied territories: an 8-year-old boy and two 18-year-old brothers.
Sumy Regional Military Administration reports that all residents of 19 settlements of the oblast were completely evacuated from a 5-kilometre zone along the border with russia. The 19 settlements are located in Nova Sloboda, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Shalyhine and Esman communities. As of the beginning of December 2023, the number of evacuated people was 3,679, including 679 children who moved to other communities in Sumy oblast. In total, almost 13 thousand people are to be evacuated in a 5-kilometre strip near the border of Sumy region with russia. The evacuation process continues.
Cossack Mamai is another Ukrainian-made weapon for destroying enemy ships in the Black Sea. This is the second surface drone in the assets of the Security Service of Ukraine. The drone has already been used to strike Russian ships. It can reach speeds of up to 110 km/h, making it the fastest facility in the Black Sea. It is 6 meters long and has a surveillance camera and satellite system on top of the platform. The drone is bulletproof, which makes it difficult for the enemy to operate.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
More than 20 settlements of Kharkiv oblast were under enemy artillery and mortar attacks, specifically Veterynarne of Kharkiv region, Hatyshche, Budarky of Chuhuiv region, Huriv Kozachok of Bohodukhiv region, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove, Topoli of Kupiansk region. Synkivka, Petropavlivka and Kyslivka of Kupiansk region suffered air strikes.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 21 enemy attacks near Synkivka, Kupiansk region.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service have examined about 9,000 hectares of territory in Kharkiv oblast. More than 148K explosive ordnance have been defused. Mine clearance is ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, russians are not reducing the intensity of their assaults, yet suffering losses. Also russian forces are continuing their attempts to capture Synkivka and nearby settlements.
The occupation forces attacked the civilian population 10 times. The enemy shelled 5 settlements: Kurakhove city, Zhelanne, Niu-York, Ocheretyne settlements, and Novoselivka Persha village. Also the russian army shelled them with KAB-500 bombs, missiles and artillery. 20 civilian objects were damaged, namely 18 residential buildings, a kindergarten and a power line.
Russia dropped three guided aerial bombs on Ocheretyne. Three apartment buildings and social infrastructure were destroyed. One person was injured.
Russians hit Zhelanne with a missile. There was no information on casualties.
Towards Volnovakha, russians shelled Prechystivka and the outskirts of Bohoiavlenka of Vuhledar community with artillery.
Towards Donetsk, 1 person was injured in Ocheretyne. Avdiivka suffered isolated attacks. In Kurakhove, the industrial zone was hit. Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka and Maksymilianivka of Marinka community were shelled.
Towards Horlivka, Niu-York of Toretsk community was shelled with artillery and hit by a KAB-500 bomb, as a result, 2 people were injured, 25 buildings and 1 infrastructure facility damaged. 2 private buildings were damaged in Chasiv Yar community.
Towards Lysychansk, 2 buildings were damaged: in Serebrianka of Siversk community and in Torske of Lyman community.
The commander of the Omeha special forces unit, call sign Pepel, reported that russian troops are constantly storming around Avdiivka to detect Ukrainian positions and then attack them with heavy weapons. The situation in the battles for the city is similar to that in Bakhmut.
In Donetsk oblast, 70 shelters are being repaired. There are 1,517 such structures in the region and a commission is inspecting them; 70% have already been examined.
The invaders heavily shelled Nevske; there were 15 explosions in the village yesterday. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties and no new destruction. When the security situation allowed, the residents of the settlement were given food packages from the state and volunteers and offered to evacuate.
Near Stelmakhivka, the enemy tried to break through the Ukrainian defences but was forced to retreat to their previously held positions.
Also russians attacked Novoiehorivka and Serebrianka forest from the air.
There were more than 10 enemy attacks near Bilohorivka yesterday, which were repelled by Ukrainian troops. The enemy is pulling up reserves to break through both in this area and in Serebrianka forest. However, all of these attempts by the invaders are repelled and the Ukrainian military sometimes even counterattack.
Air and artillery shelling continues in the de-occupied territories and russians are actively using UAVs.
Citizens, who did not evacuate, were provided with generators, firewood, food and other necessary items.
In Sievierodonetsk, all men of military age are sent to the military commissariat when they try to receive any administrative service. This applies to applying for a russian passport and trying to find a job. The medical commission will start examining those liable for military service right after the New Year.
In neighbouring Lysychansk, housing inspections continue, allegedly before the reconstruction: they open all empty apartments one by one, make a report of defects and meanwhile look for anything more or less valuable that is still left. Some apartment buildings have been “pre-inspected” more than once.
Another hub for Luhansk residents has been opened in Kyiv, run by Starobilsk Regional Military Administration.
Parents of children from Rubizhne community received more than UAH 10 million for their children’s healthcare.
More than UAH 10 million has already been allocated by Rubizhne community for rehabilitation, covering more than a thousand children.
In Dnipro, young Luhansk residents were treated to an educational event called Christmas with the Police. At police locations, children had the opportunity to try on personal safety equipment and get acquainted with forensic equipment. They also made guardian angels for the military.

According to Kyiv City State Administration, in Kyiv, more than 500 soldiers underwent social and psychological rehabilitation during treatment at the Askold Center for Social, Psychological, Professional and Labor Rehabilitation.
Philanthropists and government officials have sent 22 tonnes of useful cargo to the frontline. The packages included generators, camouflage nets, first aid kits and medicines, warm clothes, sleeping bags, folding beds, blankets, food, tinned food, sweets, hygiene products and much more. There were also Christmas gifts for the children.
According to the Tribune socio-political observer, the Jewish religious community of Kyiv has opened an application for humanitarian aid to families from vulnerable groups. Certificates of IDPs dated 2022 and 2023, registered in Kyiv and Kyiv oblast, are accepted.
A new shelter is to be built at Bila Tserkva vocational college. The entrances to the shelter will be equipped with two protective and airtight doors. The shelter itself is a monolithic reinforced concrete structure underground. The protective structure also includes an evacuation corridor and intermediate safety zones at the entrances and exits. Light-storage elements are planned to be installed on the main routes of people’s movement to ensure that they work in the absence of full lighting.
There are 77 relocated enterprises in Kyiv oblast. They started operating in the oblast despite the effects of the occupation and active hostilities. Overall, in 2023, Kyiv oblast is ranked among the top five most business attractive regions.
The former building of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate will be used as a rehabilitation centre for war victims called Unbreakable. It is planned to reconstruct the building while preserving all the historical elements of the facade and carpentry. The building has 4 floors and will accommodate 56 beds.
The team of the People’s Club won the Christmas veterans’ tournament. The competition took place on December 24 at the Sports Academy in Bucha.
150 laptops will be provided to 76 schools in 23 communities of the oblast. In total, in 2022-2023, educational institutions in Kyiv oblast received almost 9K laptops. In the de-occupied territories, teachers in almost all schools have laptops for teaching.
In Zhytomyr, a decision was made to transfer four pick-up trucks to mobile air defence groups established to protect the city. This issue was not on the agenda – it was proposed to be an additional item.
A woman from Zhytomyr put up for auction a flag signed by Zaluzhnyi, Zabrodskyi, Budanov and other Ukrainian generals, as well as painted aircraft shells. This is a charity auction to support the Air Assault Forces (81st and 95th Brigades). It is planned to raise UAH 1 million.
On December 24, the enemy fired 12 times at the border areas and settlements of Sumy oblast. There were 68 explosions. The Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropillia, Bilopillia, Putyvl, Esman, and Seredyna-Buda communities were shelled. On the night of December 25, russians fired mortar shells at Krasnopillia community. There were five explosions.
As a result of the occupiers’ shelling, 54 settlements in Sumy oblast remain without electricity. In general, the situation with power supply in the border areas of Sumy oblast remains very tense: 2,100 consumers are currently without electricity.
A resident of Sumy oblast found a large warhead weighing 300 kg from an X-59 missile manufactured in russia in a forest area. Two senior inspectors from the explosives service were dispatched to examine and remove the object.
In Sumy oblast, bomb squads of the State Emergency Service discovered and destroyed 12 explosive devices over the past week. The destroyed arsenal included artillery shells, hand grenades, an unguided aerial missile, mortar shells, grenade launchers and an anti-tank grenade.

Liubov Plonsak, the senior press officer of the Chernihiv border guard detachment, russians shelled three border villages in Chernihiv oblast yesterday.
According to the Service for Infrastructure Restoration and Development in Chernihiv Oblast, another bridge will be opened in Chernihiv oblast near Nizhyn. It is located on the railway line that connects Chernihiv oblast with Kyiv and Sumy oblasts. The length of the artificial structure is 60 metres. The new bridge will have two lanes and will meet modern traffic loads. The overpass near Nizhyn was destroyed during active hostilities in February and March 2022. At that time, russian troops entered the territory of the Nizhyn district and then tried to advance on Kyiv.
Viacheslav Chaus, head of the RMA, reported that last week, a mobile firing group of the North operational command shot down a Shahed UAV in Chernihiv oblast. Over the past week, the russians fired 46 times at 15 settlements in Chernihiv oblast, with 426 explosions. Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

2 UAVs were shot down in Synelnykove region, 2 more in Dnipro and 1 in Pavlohrad regions. Due to the falling debris, a commercial building was damaged in Mezhyrits community of Pavlohrad region. A fire broke out in Mykolaiv community on the territory of a non-working enterprise. The rescuers extinguished the fire.
The East Air Command reported that the Kh-59 guided air missile was destroyed in Kryvyi Rih region.
The region sent 120 drones to defenders in Donetsk oblast, namely to the military of the 1st Separate Special Purpose Brigade named after Ivan Bohun, the 17th Separate Tank Brigade, 129th Territorial Defense Brigade and one of the National Guard units.
Serhii Morhunov, Vinnytsia Mayor, announced that aid to the military will only increase. This decision was made at the reporting session of the city council which took place last week. Vinnytsia oblast supports 24 military units where the largest number of the residents serve, namely the Artan special unit of the Defence Intelligence and the Liut Assault Brigade. They received cars, UAVs, Mavics, thermal imagers and chemical heaters. Thanks to the coordinated work of the Interregional Coordination Humanitarian Headquarters, four more mobile baths were transferred to the military units.
According to the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, at night Air Defense Forces destroyed an Kh-59 missile and one enemy drone in the oblast.
Filip Pronin, Head of the RMA announced that 777 residents of Poltava oblast will receive financial assistance from the regional budget in the amount of over UAH 8 million. Such a decision was made by the RMA specialized commission. Almost UAH 2.5 million will be paid to the families of fallen defenders. 120 wounded soldiers will be paid from 5 to 20 K UAH, depending on the severity of injury. This month, three families from Myrhorod, whose houses were damaged as a result of the enemy attack will receive almost UAH 32 K from the regional budget. People whose homes were destroyed by an enemy UAV in Myrhorod region will also receive compensation, experts are working on the documents.
The Second Christmas in captivity rally took place in Cherkasy. Concerned locals decorated the Christmas tree with symbolic toys before the rally. On Christmas Eve, December 24, about 70 people came. These are concerned citizens, volunteers, defenders, prisoners families and families of killed ones. Families lined up in front of the monument to honor the memory of those who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine. After that everyone bowed their heads in prayer for the prisoners and observed a moment of silence to remember those who were killed at war.

Occupying forces conducted 6 MLRS attacks on Huliaipole and Robotyne, as well as 28 UAV attacks on Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novodarivka, Novoandriivka, Malynivka, Robotyne, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, and Kamianske. 142 artillery strikes hit the territory of Orikhiv, Levadne, Bilohiria, Novodanylivka, Luhivske, Preobrazhenka, Huliaipole, Piatyhatky, Kamianske, and other towns and villages near the front line. Additionally, on December 24 at 08:55, the russian army conducted artillery shelling in Ochakiv city. As a result, residential buildings and a high-voltage power line were damaged. Also, at 13:10, 13:41, and 15:01, the waters of Ochakiv community were shelled. At 11:32 on December 24, the russians shelled the waters of Kutsurub community. There were no casualties or injuries.
The festival “Christmas of the Unbroken” took place in the City Center for the Support of War Veterans. It was organized by ninth-grade students of Lyceum No. 58. Families of veterans, servicemen, and Defenders who gave their lives for our freedom were invited to the event. Young boys and girls prepared a whole program with masterclasses. The event guests were told about ancient Ukrainian traditions, taught to make candles, and each family decorated their own exclusive Christmas gingerbread. Families of servicemen who visited the Center for the first time learnt about its activities.
The South Operational Command informs that on the evening of December 24, a russian missile X-31P, launched towards Odesa in the direction of Chornomorsk, was intercepted by air defense systems. Additionally, 17 strike UAVs of the Shahed-136 type were destroyed over the region. The debris from one of the downed drones damaged technical facilities in Odesa port, another one damaged an abandoned administrative building, and a warehouse of a conserved facility in Rozdilna region. There were no casualties.
On the eve of Christmas, the International Cultural Center UNION hosted a festive event for 300 children from IDP families. The children enjoyed a Christmas show titled “Christmas Adventures of Santa.” Young viewers followed with excitement the fantastic journey of Santa and his cheerful bunny friends, a story where real Christmas miracles and interesting adventures intertwined. After the show, the children received Christmas gifts from Santa. The event was organized by the Department of Labor and Social Policy of Odesa City Council in collaboration with the Public Organization Dad’s Care.

On December 25, religious services were held to celebrate Christmas in de-occupied Kherson oblast where the security situation allowed. According to preliminary estimates, 535 believers participated in the events, attending churches on that day. Public order and safety were ensured by 40 police officers near the venues of the services.

Last night, the russian army shelled Chornobaivka. There were at least 25 artillery strikes on the village. As a result of the shelling, 26 buildings, a sports hall, educational and medical institutions, an agricultural facility, road infrastructure, as well as three municipal buses, were damaged. A 37-year-old local resident was killed.
Rakivka was under enemy drone attack last night. Hangars, a combine, and a tractor were damaged there. Bilozirka, Sadove, Prydniprovske, Inzhenerne, Chornobaivka, and Komyshany were under combined shelling.
A police service vehicle, an educational institution, a kindergarten, a retail trade enterprise, multi-storey buildings, and a pharmacy were damaged in Korabelnyi district of Kherson due to the enemy shelling.
During the night, the air defense forces destroyed 3 attack UAVs of the Shahed-136 type in Kherson oblast. A fire broke out in storage facilities in Beryslav region due to the drone hit. The firefighters have already extinguished successfully.
The enemy carried out 23 assaults on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the area of responsibility of the Southern Defense Forces. The occupiers continue aerial reconnaissance, deploying new observation posts instead of destroyed ones, pressing with artillery shelling, using MLRSs, and employing various types of drones against the peaceful population of Kherson oblast and the coastal communities of Mykolaiv oblast.
The counter-battery fight continues: our units steadfastly hold the defense, inflict fire damage on the enemy’s dislocation areas, their firing positions, and rear areas. Over the past day, confirmation has been received that the enemy lost 4 occupiers, 1 tank, 4 cannons, 1 mortar, and 11 units of armoured vehicles on the left bank. Three observation posts were destroyed. Reconnaissance is ongoing.
The issuance of humanitarian aid continues in Kherson oblast. Yesterday, residents of liberated territories received 750 food kits, 2100 loaves of bread, 250 portions of hot meals, and 27,864 liters of drinking water. Additionally, people were provided with 298 hygiene kits, 30 packs of adult diapers, 25 bags of cement, and 78 tons of fuel briquettes.

The construction of protective structures with the funds of a targeted subvention from the state budget is ongoing. The progress of construction works was inspected by representatives of the RMA.
The Monitoring Committee of the Interreg NEXT Poland – Ukraine 2021-2027 Program decided that as part of the cross-border program, 4 projects will be implemented in Zakarpattia in the Health care direction.
Ivano-Frankivsk City Council allocated funds for the installation of monuments to Heroes from the community. The executive committee approved payments for 5 memorial signs in the amount of UAH 300K. Since the beginning of the year, funds have already been allocated for 52 monuments in the amount of UAH 3 mln 110K.
Mariia Kudryavtseva, Head of the People’s House in the village of Chestyn, sews blue-yellow and red-black flags, which are sent to defenders. They are used during various events. They also accompany them on their last journey of Heroes. During this year, Mariia has sewed 188 flags, for which about 276 meters of fabric were used.
Ivan Kratasiuk received the Golden Cross badge of Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Hero took part in battles in Bakhmut region. He received an award for rescuing wounded comrades from under heavy fire. Now the defender continues his service in Kupiansk and Lyman regions.
Four military servicemen who successfully completed a rehabilitation course at Rivne Regional War Veterans Hospital took part in a photo shoot. It was held to create a charity calendar in support of canister therapy. The Unbreakable charity project was organized by the P4P NGO, who constantly participates in the rehabilitation of military personnel, involving dogs. For the photo shoot, the men chose their favourite therapy animal.
Medics of Ternopil City Communal Dental Polyclinic again went to the front line. They have already treated over 40 soldiers in Donetsk oblast.

NPP workers decided to donate their bonuses received on the occasion of the successful completion of planned and preventive maintenance of one of the power units to purchase equipment for the military. Ukraine received $1.34 billion as part of the World Bank’s PEACE in Ukraine project to partially compensate for expenses of the state budget of Ukraine not related to the sphere of security and defense, in particular to pension payments and payments to employees of the State Emergency Service.
Taiwan and the Alliance of Polish Metropolises created a fund to help Ukrainian refugees in Poland and donated $1 mln. The funds will be used to improve the living conditions of refugees, improve education for Ukrainian children and youth, and prepare for the future return of refugees to Ukraine after the war.
This year, Latvia sent 271 cars confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine. Their total value is almost €1 mln. Currently, another 34 cars are being prepared for transfer, the value of which is estimated at €161 880. Latvia adopted amendments to the law in February of this year, which allow for free transfer of cars confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine.
Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, announced that in 2024, the Recorded Future, the world’s largest private intelligence and analytical company, will allocate over $23 mln to support Ukraine and protect it from russian cyberattacks.
