Thus, the number of enemy artillery shelling in the operational area of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group exceeds 1,000x each day.
There were 48 combat engagements. The enemy launched 29 air strikes, launched 26 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy conducted no offensives. The occupiers launched an airstrike in the vicinity of Staromaiorske (Donetsk oblast). The adversary fired artillery and mortars at around 10x settlements, including Vodyane, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Blahodatne, Urozhaine, Rivnopil.(Donetsk oblast).
Towards Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 3 adversary attacks near Robotyne and south of Huliaipolez Zaporizhzhia oblast. In that area, the adversary made failed attempts to push back Ukrainian troops from their positions. Around 20 settlements, including Levadne, Hulyaipole, Huliaipilske, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Piatykhatky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.
Towards Kherson, the enemy fired from artillery at the city of Kherson, the settlements of Tiahynka, Komyshany, Bilozerka (Kherson oblast) and Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast).
The enemy did not abandon his intention to drive our units from the left bank of the Dnipro, made 23x failed assaults. The attacks were repelled and the enemy retreated having suffered major losses. The Ukrainian troops are holding the line, continuing to retain their positions.
The Ukrainian Air Forces launched air strikes on 12 buildups of troops, weapons, and military equipment, 1 ammunition depot and 1 air defense system of the adversary.

Russia is using chemical weapons on the left bank of Kherson oblast. The russian army drops K-51 grenades from drones on Ukrainian positions. These aerosol grenades are filled with the irritant CS gas, a type of tear gas (RSA).
We managed to return 3 more Ukrainian children from TOT. This was the end of the 14th rescue mission, during which 14 children were rescued, seven of whom were children deprived of parental care.

Oleksandr Kulik, Spokesman of Derhachi City Military Administration, said that as of December 2023, 5 settlements of Derhachi community have no residents: Nove, Pytomnyk, Dementiivka, Hraniv and Shevchenka. In Vilkhuvatka community, there are also 5 settlements without any residents: Ozerne, Kreidianka, Potykhonove, Mykolaivka and Kupine. In Lypetsk community, there are no residents in Zelene village.

The enemy shelled Pidserednie village, Kupiansk region, at about 2:40 am. Two men aged 34 and 65 were injured. The victims were hospitalised with shrapnel wounds: the father sustained a mine-blast injury, the son received a shrapnel wound and was taken to a hospital in Kharkiv. His condition is moderate.
As a result of hostile shelling of Kozacha Lopan village, Kharkiv region, 4 private buildings and a gas pipeline were damaged at 2:50 pm. There were no casualties.

In Niu-York, a 68-year-old man and his 64-year-old wife were in their yard when an aerial bomb exploded near them. The explosions also damaged and destroyed residential buildings, fences and outbuildings.
Towards Volnovakha, a building was damaged in Novoukrainka of Vuhledar community.
Towards Donetsk, 1 person was injured in Heorhiivka of Marinka community. 5 people were injured in Kurakhove. Avdiivka suffered isolated attacks.

Ihor Moroz, Acting Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that yesterday russians injured 6 civilians: 5 in Kurakhove and 1 in Heorhiivka. In addition, information about 1 person injured earlier in Kurakhove has been established.
A puppet theatre visited school students in the frontline Drobysheve of Lyman community. Actors from Kharkiv brought a performance of Ivasyk-Telesyk for the children. The performance was held in the premises of the educational and consulting centre as there is no school in the village, it was destroyed by russian troops.

In Starobilsk, the occupation authorities began forcibly issuing documents of foreign citizens or stateless persons to locals who have not received russian passports. These documents are valid for a year and supposedly postpone the deportation, which is due to begin on 1 July 2024. In reality, they simply systematise the data on the number of the non-passported population.
Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk RMA, said that going back to the USSR, in the temporarily occupied Luhansk oblast, russians are going to introduce Soviet practices in schools, specifically, to increase the number of mentors, change the approach to “patriotic education” and introduce names for school students of different age groups.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Rescuers of the “Kyiv Rescue Service” communal emergency and rescue service (CERS) dismantled emergency structures in a multi-story residential building in Solomyansky district, which was hit by fragments of a russian UAV on the night of December 22. Rescuers dismantled emergency brick and concrete elements on the roof and technical floor of the 26-story building, removed damaged window and balcony structures in residents’ apartments.
KCSA reported that since the beginning of the war, 931 workers of Kyiv’s housing and communal services have stood up to defend the country, mobilizing to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and territorial defense units. Despite the additional workload and the acute shortage of workers, especially welders and workers of emergency teams, the team of the capital’s utilities works in an intensified mode for a stable passage of the heating season.
“Ukrainian Women’s Guard” conducted mine safety training for women in the city of Kyiv. The National Police of Ukraine reported that during the distribution of bread in a border village in Chernihiv oblast russians attacked civilians. The civilians were fired upon from a drone when they came to the centre of the village to get bread. The people were not injured. Shrapnel hit a car with bread.
Chernihiv oblast is among the oblasts that have suffered the most destruction since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian occupiers. According to the data documented by the NGO MART in cooperation with the NGO Educational House of Human Rights in Chernihiv, as part of the global initiative “Putin’s Tribunal”, more than 5,000 civilian infrastructure objects in Chernihiv and Chernihiv oblast were destroyed and damaged as a result of mostly rocket and artillery strikes. The enemy targeted Mala Tokmachka with MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) and attacked Shyroke, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novodarivka, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Malynivka, Huliaipilske, Robotyne, Charivne, Poltavka, and Mali Shcherbaky with 43 UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). Today, on December 24, a car rally took place in Zaporizhzhia in support of the captured defenders of Mariupol – “Don’t be silent! Captivity kills! This morning, volunteers from Odesa and Kyiv were involved in a severe accident on the Odesa- Mykolaiv highway. Chernivtsi RMA and the regional council discussed the draft budget of the region for 2024. The revenue part of the regional budget will amount to UAH 1 billion 538.7 mln, in the structure of which own revenues occupy 58.9%, subsidies from the State Budget of Ukraine – 26.4%, subventions – 14.7%. UAH 87 mln was earmarked for the financing of programs to support IDPs, defenders and their family members and the activities of military units and units of the territorial defense of Chernivtsi oblast.
