What happened in Ukraine today:
Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:
The defense forces of Ukraine are taking measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deep into its territory.
On 6 September, there were 68 combat clashes on the frontline.
Communities of border settlements were affected by enemy artillery fire, namely Senkivka, Yanzhulivka – Chernihiv oblast; Novovasylivka, Nova Huta, Khliborob, Fotovyzh, Tovstodubove, Bachivsk, Bobylivka, Bila Bereza, Buniakine, Hirky – Sumy oblast. The aggressor’s aviation carried out an air strike in the vicinity of the settlement of Hremiach.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were three combat clashes, one of which is ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out 8 airstrikes, dropping 20 guided bombs, and also carried out 80 shelling of the positions of our troops and settlements.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the Defense Forces repelled one attack by enemy troops, and three more clashes are still ongoing. The enemy is trying to advance in the vicinity of Vovchansk, Ambarne and Novovasylivka.
Towards Kupiansk, russian occupiers unsuccessfully tried to break through Ukrainian defenses in the vicinity of Kupiansk.
Towards Lyman, the invading army launched seven attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units near the settlements of Hrekivka, Karpivka, Kolodiazi, Shandryholove and Derylove. Three clashes are ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the Defense Forces repelled four attacks, and five more clashes are ongoing. The invading units tried to advance near Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, Pereizne and Dronivka.
Towards Kramatorsk, the enemy near Bondarne.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy carried out three assault operations in the vicinity of Rusyn Yar, Poltavka and Pleshchiivka.
Towards Pokrovsk, there were 34 russian attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Shakhove, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Dachne, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Molodetske, Novopavlivka, and Filiia. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 32 enemy attacks, two combat clashes are ongoing.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Shevchenko, Komyshuvakha, Filiia, and Novoselivka. Ukrainian soldiers repelled seven enemy assaults, another attack is ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, the Defense Forces repelled one attack towards Stepnohirsk.
Towards Kherson, the aggressor’s aircraft carried out an airstrike in the vicinity of the settlement of Odradokamyanka.
Towards Huliaipole, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations.
In the remaining directions, there were no significant changes.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
There were 184 combat clashes in the oblast.
Towards Southern Sloboda, there were seven combat clashes near Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, there were ten attacks. The defense forces repelled the enemy’s assault actions in the vicinity of the settlements of Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, and Kolisnykovka.
Shelling
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of the RMA, says that at 06:20, russian troops attacked the village of Kovali of Zolochiv community with FPV drones. As a result of the strikes, two private houses, outbuildings, and a passenger car were damaged.
Kharkiv RMA reports that as a result of the russian shelling of Nechvolodyvka on the night of September 6, a 58-year-old man was injured. A 25-year-old was wounded as a result of the strike on Kupyansk. Both men are in the hospital.
5 settlements were hit by enemy strikes.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons:

An apartment building was damaged in the Kupyansk district (Kupyansk city).
2 private houses were damaged in Bohodukhiv region (Pysarivka village, Basove village).
Andrii Kanashevich, Head of the RMA, says that a 50-year-old woman was injured as a result of russian shelling of Kupiansk on September 5.
In Lozova, Kharkiv region, about seven thousand consumers remain without electricity as a result of russian shelling on September 3. Oleh Synehubov, Head of Kharkiv CMA, says that they are providing electricity for three hours in turn for different districts of the city. The village of Domakha is also without electricity.
The transit evacuation point in Lozova received 108 people during the day. 26 people remain. A total of 1,686 people have been registered at the Point since it began operating.
Donetsk oblast
Front
According to the 1st Corps of the Azov National Guard, over the past month, towards Dobropillia over three thousand russian occupiers were extinguished, 65 prisoners taken and 20 tanks destroyed.
Shelling
The village of Sadovod in Kupiansk region was shelled. Kharkiv State Emergency Service reported that the hits fell on an open area near a residential area, causing dry grass to catch fire. The fire area was about 2.5 hectares
The russian army struck with Tornado-S MLRS and hit the industrial zones of Sloviansk and Bylbasivka. Railway tracks, private houses, and industrial facilities were damaged. There were no injuries or deaths.
The RMA says that in the morning, from 06:40, the city of Sloviansk came under massive shelling. At least five explosions were heard.
On the night of September 6, at around 00:10, the russian army attacked Sloviansk with UAVs and hit the industrial zone – there were no injuries.
On September 5, the police recorded 2,091 enemy strikes on the front line and residential sector. 18 settlements were under fire: the cities of Bilytske, Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Siversk, Sloviansk, the villages of Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka, Raihorodok, Bilokuzminivka, Dmytrokolyne, Donetske, Kucheriv Yar, Novosamarske, Novoserhiivka, Novostepanivka, Ocheretyne, and Rozdollia.

47 civilian objects were destroyed, including 29 residential buildings. Three people died in Siversk, which was covered by russian troops with artillery.
russians hit Bilytske with a GAB-250 bomb – killing a civilian. In Dobropilly, a non-residential building was damaged.
One person was wounded in Oleksiivo-Druzhkivka, which the enemy hit with a Smerch MLRS. An outbuilding was damaged.
The occupiers dropped 5 GAB-250 bombs on Kostiantynivka, damaging 1 apartment building and 6 private houses, and a hospital. In Bilokuzminivka, two private houses were destroyed as a result of an FPV drone hit.
In Druzhkivka, an enemy FPV drone attacked an enterprise. In Lyman, two private houses were damaged. On the outskirts of Sloviansk, cars were damaged by a drone attack. In Donetske, a private house was damaged by an FPV drone in the Mykolaiv TG.
Oleksandrivka community was attacked by six Geran-2 UAVs: in Rozdollia, 10 private houses and 4 outbuildings were damaged, in Dmytrokolyne, 4 private houses and two non-residential buildings, and in Novostepanivka, a non-residential building.
Three Geran-2 UAVs from russia fired on Novodonetsk community: in Novoserhiivka, a private house and two outbuildings were damaged, in Novosamarsky, a private house and three outbuildings.
Other
russians plan to build a highway through the territory of the destroyed Azovstal in Mariupol, destroying the remains of the steel plant. The overpass will connect Livoberezhnyi and Primorskyi districts of the city, the city council reported.
Luhansk oblast
When shelling the positions of the Ukrainian military, the invaders are using all available weapons. They fired multiple rocket launchers and five times with cannon artillery. russians’ combat missions were carried out by 33 UAVs and FPV drones. The invaders stormed our positions in the Lymansky direction 20 times. Another 20 times towards Siversk. The enemy’s attacks were repelled, in particular, near Dibrova.
Until the last weekend of August, the so-called “lpr”, despite the long queues at the gas station, did not officially recognize the existing fuel shortage, which had been observed for about two weeks at that time. Then they promised to resolve the issue by September 1, but they failed. Yesterday they announced that the supply situation remains difficult. At the same time, the residents of Luhansk claim that the oil depot, which burned the night before last, was 80% full at that time.
There is only one underground mine left in Sorokine, where coal mining is currently ongoing, Sukhodilska-Shikhidna. The company recently announced that it is also being prepared for closure. Other mines in the city gradually stopped working after the occupation in 2014 or during the activities of investors from the russian federation, who arrived in the spring of last year and made efforts to close the enterprises.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported that in the city of Ukrainka, plans are underway to build housing for people forced to flee Luhansk oblast due to the war. The Regional Administrations and the Ukrainka City Council agreed on the project. A site will be provided for construction, with the necessary infrastructure built nearby to enable displaced persons to live comfortably and adapt quickly. The first construction works are expected to begin this year.
In the village of Mykulychi, a local outpatient clinic has reopened after major repairs. The facility was damaged in the first months of the full-scale invasion. This is an important achievement for the community, as the clinic provides medical services for over 2,500 residents, with around 10% being internally displaced persons. The project was implemented by the international organization Project HOPE in cooperation with local authorities and partners.
A medical office for internally displaced persons has been opened at the “I Am Mariupol” center in Kyiv. IDPs can sign declarations with experienced general practitioners, receive consultations, and access essential medical services. The project aims to ensure that residents of Mariupol have access to quality primary healthcare, even far from their home city.
In Kyiv, the Ukrainian Red Cross Vocational College has officially opened — an educational institution dedicated to training a new generation of medical professionals. According to the Red Cross, students will not only gain knowledge but also develop the values of humanity, responsibility, and readiness to help others.
More than 100 rescuers of the State Emergency Service joined the national campaign “Your Blood Can Fight. Become a Donor” and donated 46 liters of blood for wounded defenders and civilian patients. The campaign was organized by the Kyiv City Blood Center. Both regular contributors and first-time participants took part in the event.
In August alone, volunteers from the Ukraine Reloaded foundation wove 11 camouflage nets with a total area of 642 square meters. These nets are already helping Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines.
Zhytomyr oblast
On 4 September, Serhii Korolev Museum of Cosmonautics in Zhytomyr hosted the premiere of the project ‘Battalion of the Worthy.’ The project is a series of films about cadets from the Sergei Korolev Military Institute in Zhytomyr who took part in the battles for Gostomel in the early days of the full-scale russian invasion. The project was implemented as part of the ‘DiyaTy’ youth grant.
A project to sew adaptive clothing for wounded and recovering military personnel has been launched in the Irshanska community in the Korosten district. The initiative aims to create comfortable and functional items that meet the specific needs of defenders during their recovery. The project is being implemented through the joint efforts of the community: residents donate fabric, seamstresses sew the items, and volunteers organise delivery to medical facilities and frontline territories.
Sumy oblast
The General Staff reported that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight russian attacks. Enemy forces carried out 14 airstrikes, dropped 38 guided aerial bombs, and launched 223 artillery attacks, including five by multiple launch rocket systems.
The RMA informed that in Krasnopillia community, a 57-year-old man was injured when a russian drone struck a car. He was taken to hospital.
From the morning of 5 September to the morning of 6 September, russian troops carried out 146 attacks on 55 settlements in 18 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (30 strikes), MLRS (almost 20 strikes), UAV-dropped grenades (over 20 strikes), and also carried out attacks by FPV-drones and UAVs.
Consequences of enemy attacks in Sumy oblast as of the morning of 6 September:
- In Znob-Novhorodske community, two cars were damaged;
- In Seredyna-Buda community, a private household and two cars were damaged;
- In Shostka community, a farm building was damaged;
- In Richky community, a private house was damaged;
- In Sumy community, a private house, a farm building, and non-residential premises were damaged;
- In Bilopillia community, a private house and three cars were damaged.
11 people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and civic organisations.
Chernihiv oblast
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that on 6 September, an FPV-drone struck a grocery shop in Semenivka, causing a fire. No civilians were injured.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the RMA, reported that on the same day, a russian drone hit the yards of private houses in Horodnia and Semenivka. A 70-year-old woman from Semenivka was killed in the attack, while a 45-year-old woman from Horodnia was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital.
Chernihiv City Military Administration informed that in Chernihiv, a drone crash was recorded on the road towards Kyiinka on 6 September.
According to the Regional Military Administration, between the morning of 5 September and the morning of 6 September, russian forces shelled Chernihiv oblast 60 times, with a total of 106 explosions recorded. Twenty-two settlements came under fire. In three villages of Semenivka community, russian drones struck residential houses. In Koriukivka region on the morning of 5 September, a power line was damaged.
Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that during the same period, russian troops attacked four border communities of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar attacks (15 explosions) and artillery shelling (17 explosions), launched Shahed-type UAVs (1 explosion), Molniya-type UAVs (1 explosion), dropped guided aerial bombs (3 explosions), used FPV-drones (20 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (14 explosions). In Chornozem village, Semenivka community, an FPV-drone strike caused a fire in an uninhabited house.
Ukraine will appeal to the International Criminal Court to investigate the russian missile strike on a humanitarian demining mission on 4 September near Novoselivka, close to Chernihiv. According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi, the russian strike was deliberately targeted at a humanitarian demining team – a grave war crime and a violation of international humanitarian law.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the oblast council, says that from evening until night, the occupiers continued to strike Nikopol region with drones and artillery. They targeted Nikopol, Pokrovske and Chervonohryhorivka communities. They also attacked Synelnykove region. They targeted Petropavlivka, Mezhova and Slovianska communities.
A 40-year-old man was injured. A fire broke out, 3 private houses and an ambulance were damaged. According to updated information, two men and a woman died in the attack by the GAB on Pokrovske community, which took place on September 1.
Kirovohrad oblast
In the city of Svitlovodsk, Kirovohrad oblast, relatives of the military took part in a reminder action “Do not be silent. Captivity kills” about prisoners of war and missing persons. It was organized to remind families that they are fighting for the return of their relatives.
Cherkasy oblast
In Lokhvytsky community, it became known about the death of soldier Viacheslav Moskalenko. The man served in the 152nd separate chasseurs brigade. On November 4, 2024, the soldier went on his first combat mission and did not return. He went missing on November 7, 2024 near the village of Chumatske, Donetsk oblast.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that in the evening, russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia by drones. There were hits, damaging a kindergarten, a residential building and an enterprise. A woman was injured with a shrapnel head wound.
A 56-year-old woman was killed in a russian attack on Prymorske, Vasylivka region. She died as a result of a strike by a russian FPV drone.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defence Forces repelled 3 russian assaults near Stepnohirsk and Novodanylivka in Orikhiv region. In Huliaipole region, russian troops did not conduct offensive actions.
The regional branch of the State Emergency Service reported that on 5 September, 6 fires broke out in Zaporizhzhia oblast as a result of russian shelling. In Zapasne village, rescuers extinguished a fire in a residential house covering 105sq.m.
Ivan Fedorov, Head of the RMA, stated that on 5 September, the russian military carried out 476 strikes on 15 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. These included 5 airstrikes on Uspenivka, Novoandriivka, Chervona Krynytsia and Malynivka.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, russian forces advanced in the southern part of Prymorske, Zaporizhzhia oblast. Geolocated footage published on 5 September shows that russian troops recently made gains in the southern part of Prymorske.
Mykolaiv oblast
Based on the information provided by the RMA, on 5 September, russian forces attacked Ochakiv and Kutsurub communities by FPV drones. Private houses and a car were damaged. There were no casualties reported.
Yesterday, russian troops struck Halytsynove community by multiple launch rocket systems. In Lupareve, dacha houses were damaged. There were no casualties reported.
During the night of 6 September, russian forces shelled Shyroke community. As of 7:34am, there was no information on damage or casualties.
Odesa oblast
Referring to the Air Force of Ukraine, in the morning, an enemy reconnaissance drone was detected flying from the Black Sea towards Odesa.
During the night of 6 September, russian drones moved from the Black Sea towards Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi region of Odesa oblast.
Kherson oblast
Relying on the information provided by the Regional Military Administration, today, around 11am, russian forces shelled Bilozirka in Kherson oblast by artillery. A 41-year-old woman was injured with blast trauma, while a 51-year-old woman sustained blast injuries, a concussion and acute stress reaction.
The Police reported that yesterday, russian troops used a strike drone to attack a checkpoint in Bilozirka community. 3 police officers suffered concussions.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the RMA, stated that on 5 September, russian shelling killed 2 people in Kherson oblast and injured 2, including a child. A high-rise building, 8 private houses and a car were damaged. In total, russian forces shelled 34 settlements in the oblast.

Volyn oblast
Novovolynsk community was visited by Jacques Gerber, representative of the Swiss Federal Council for Ukraine, Marco Kreuchi, Program Coordinator of the Trade Facilitation Department of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Jean-Luc Bernasconi, Director of Cooperation Programs of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, Ilona Postemska and Viktor Shutkevych, Senior Program Coordinators of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine. Zakarpattia oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 150 drones to the 102nd Separate Brigade of Territorial Defense Forces.
Lviv oblast
UNBROKEN University was established in Lviv. It comprises a medical school, where doctors will specialize in rehabilitation, prosthetics, surgery, and psychological care, and a school of municipal management, which will train managers for Ukrainian communities. The rector is Professor Oleksandr Filts, well-known psychiatrist and psychotherapist.
Rivne oblast
Another group of children from Zaporizhzhia oblast came to Rivne oblast for health improvement. This time, 38 students from the Metalurh football school. Health improvement of students is one of the components of the Side by Side: United Communities nationwide project.
Ternopil oblast
The 35th Separate Rifle Battalion received 4 modern Xiaomi TVs, purchased at the request of the military. The TVs were purchased as part of the Defense Capability program.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that 308 servicemen received assistance for the purchase of defense equipment. The amount of assistance exceeded UAH 3.2m.
Chernivtsi oblast
Servicewoman Yuliia Paevska (Taira) presented her debut collection of poems entitled Live at the Meridian Czernowitz International Poetry Readings in Chernivtsi. The collection consists of 50 poems that the author composed and recorded after her liberation from russian captivity. However, as Yuliia admitted during the presentation of her collection, she began writing poems a long time ago.
International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)
Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, announced that Sweden sent 3 powerful gas turbines worth EUR 95m to Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, met with Maria Malmo, Swedish Foreign Minister Stenergard. They discussed joint defense projects and needs of Ukrainian soldiers.
