On 5 September, there were 103 combat clashes.
Communities of border settlements suffered from enemy artillery fire, namely Senkivka, Buchky, Karpovychi, Mykolaivka – Chernihiv oblast; Seredyna Buda, Koreniok, Bobylivka, Shalyhyne, Stara Huta, Starykove, Bila Bereza, Tovstodubove, Nova Sloboda, Hirky, Buniakyne, Chuikivka – Sumy oblast.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, there were four combat clashes, two of which are ongoing. In addition, the enemy launched eight airstrikes, dropping 12 guided bombs, and also carried out 136 attacks on the positions of our troops and settlements, in particular four – from multiple launch rocket systems. At the same time, Ukrainian units carried out active operations and were successful in some areas.
Towards Southern Sloboda, the Defense Forces repelled one attack by enemy troops, another combat clash is still ongoing. The enemy is trying to advance in the vicinity of Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, russian occupiers tried to break through Ukrainian defenses six times without success in the vicinity of the settlements of Kupiansk, Radkivka, Petropavlivka and Kolisnykovka. Ukrainian units carried out active operations and were successful in some areas.
Towards Lyman, the invading army carried out 12 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units near the settlements of Andriivka, Druzheliubivka, Kolodiazi, Drobysheve, Olhivka and Shandryholovy. Four combat clashes are ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the Defense Forces repelled three attacks, four more combat clashes are ongoing. The invading units tried to advance near Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, Dronivka and Dibrova.
Towards Toretsk, the enemy carried out five assault operations in the areas of Pleshchiivka, Rusyn Yar and Poltavka. One battle is still ongoing.
Towards Pokrovsk, russian invaders made 26 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from the occupied positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Shakhove, Nykanorivka, Rodynske, Novoekonomichne, Shevchenko, Promyn, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Dachne, Filia and Novopavlivka. The defense forces are holding back the onslaught and repelled 19 enemy attacks, seven combat clashes are ongoing.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of the settlements of Oleksandrohrad, Voskresenka, Temyrivka, Shevchenko, Maliivka, and Komyshuvakha. Ukrainian soldiers repelled 15 enemy assaults, six more attacks are ongoing.
Towards Orikhiv, the Defense Forces repelled one attack by the invaders towards Stepnohirsk.
Towards Kherson, the aggressor’s aircraft carried out an airstrike on Olhivka.
Towards Kramatorsk and Huliaipole, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations.
In the remaining directions, there were no significant changes.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
There were 172 combat clashes in the oblast.
Towards Southern Sloboda, there were eight enemy attacks in the vicinity of the settlements of Vovchansk, Kamianka and Krasne Pershe.
Towards Kupiansk, there were nine attacks near Stepova Novoselivka, Borova, Andriivka, Kupiansk, Petropavlivka and Novoplatonivka.
Shelling
City mayor Volodymyr Belyi says that on the night of September 5, two russian drones attacked a lyceum in Bohodukhiv, as a result of which structural elements of the building burned. The fire was extinguished, the main building of the educational institution was hit. Apartments located in a dormitory near the educational institution were also damaged.

8 settlements in the oblast were hit by enemy attacks. Three people were killed and 6 injured as a result of the shelling.
In the village of Khotimlia, Starosaltiv community, a 45-year-old and 40-year-old men and a 25-year-old woman were killed, and men aged 32, 42, and 47 were injured; in the town of Kupyansk, a 60-year-old man was injured; in the village of Pidseredne, Velykoburlutsk community, a 28-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were injured.
As a result of the explosion of an unknown object in the village of Kozacha Lopan, Derhachi community, a 41-year-old and 51-year-old men were killed, and a 36-year-old and 51-year-old men were injured.
In Lozova region, work is underway to restore electricity supply after the enemy shelling that occurred on September 3.
As of this morning, three-hour connections of subscribers to the electricity grid are being implemented in the city of Lozova, in different districts in turn. In Blyzniukivka community, the electricity supply has been fully restored.

An 18-year-old girl and a 28-year-old man were injured in Pidserednye, Kupiansk region. Yesterday at about 10:30 p.m., a russian drone hit a house in the village, the regional prosecutor’s office reported.
Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv RMA, says that at 9:00 p.m. on September 4, debris from a downed Shahed drone partially damaged a private house and two outbuildings in the village of Tsapivtsi, Zolochiv community.
Andrii Kanashevich, Head of the RMA, says that it became known about two deaths and one injury in Kupyansk as a result of russian shelling. On September 3, a 59-year-old man and an 88-year-old woman died, the information is being verified. A 60-year-old man was injured in the shelling on the morning of September 4, and he was taken to the hospital.
101 people were registered at the intermediate transit evacuation point in Lozova during the day. 28 people remain. A total of 1,578 people have been registered at the Point since it began operating.
3,515 apartments and houses were purchased by residents of Kharkiv oblast under the state program “eReconstruction”. The cost of the purchased housing is over 7.5 billion hryvnias.
Donetsk oblast

On the morning of September 5, the russian army began assaults on Novopavlivka. The Defense Forces are holding back attacks with the help of drones and artillery. Ukrainian military personnel in the direction are working to identify and destroy the pilots of the Russian army’s drones in order to weaken the attacks of the russian federation.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that the russian army went on the offensive towards Siversk. The occupiers increased the number of attacks to 28, attacking Hryhorivka, Serebrianka, Yampol, Dronivka, Siversk and Vyimka. The day before there were eight attacks on this sector of the front. russian troops are not reducing the pace of the offensive towards Pokrovsk, where the Defense Forces repelled 47 attacks during the day.
Shelling
According to the RMA, at night, the russian army again shelled the hospital in Kostiantynivka, damaging two buildings. The occupiers carried out a massive strike with FAB-250 aerial bombs, also damaging high-rise buildings and private houses, leaving the community’s substations without electricity.

Five people were killed, two injured as a result of massive shelling of theoblast. On September 4, there were 2,438 enemy strikes.
16 settlements were under fire. 57 civilian objects were destroyed, including 38 residential buildings.

russians hit Kostiantynivka with GAB-250 aerial bombs, drones and artillery – 3 people were killed, another person was injured. 2 apartment buildings and 2 private houses, administrative buildings were damaged.
The enemy dropped 6 GAB-250 bombs on Illinivka – 2 civilians were killed, 5 houses and non-residential premises were destroyed.
In Staroraiske, a person was injured as a result of an FPV drone hit.
The occupiers sent 2 Geran-2 UAVs to Sloviansk – 15 private houses and an administrative building were damaged.
In Lyman, enemy strikes damaged an apartment building and a private house, in Pokrovsk – a private house.
russian troops attacked Svyatogorsk with two UAVs, damaging 5 houses of a recreation center.
Police received information about a woman who was killed in Pokrovsk due to shelling of the northern part of the city on August 28.
Luhansk oblast
The enemy concentrated its attacking efforts near Hrekivka. In total, it conducted 18 assaults towards Lyman. It used artillery weapons and unmanned systems. Thus, russians struck 11 times with barrel artillery. They directed 32 UAVs and FPV drones towards our defenders.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian SSU drones hit an ammunition depot and UAVs of russian troops in the vicinity of temporarily occupied Luhansk.
The defense forces hit an oil depot in temporarily occupied Luhansk, – the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovdi reported under the pseudonym “Magyar”. The strike was carried out by fighters of the 14th BPak regiment. The oil depot in Luhansk supplies fuel to the 41st and 20th combined arms armies of the Russian Armed Forces, – the ATESH movement reported. The day before, their agents had scouted the company and passed the information on to the Defense Forces.
In Rubizhne, russians had almost completely stopped the showy restoration of damaged high-rise buildings and critical infrastructure. For three years, local residents had been extremely dissatisfied with the slow pace of work, even compared to neighboring Seversko-Donetsk.
It has already been reported that due to a lack of fuel, two buses remained on public transport routes in Siverskodonetsk. The interval between trips has also changed. From now on, you have to wait about an hour for each next trip. It takes about the same amount of time to walk around the city from one neighborhood of the settlement to another.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
Vitalii Klytschko, Kyiv Mayor, said that this week, eleven air raid alerts were recorded in the capital. The city continues to restore buildings damaged by russian attacks and provide financial assistance to victims. Since the beginning of 2025, Kyiv has paid out UAH 112m. in material aid to those affected by russian shelling. As of early September, more than 8,000 residents have received assistance under the municipal target program “Care. Towards Kyivans.”
the SES reported that in Kyiv oblast, State Emergency Service rescuers neutralized fragments of a russian missile with a warhead. The debris was found in a field in Bila Tserkva region.
Mykola Kalashnyk, Head of the RMA, informed that Kyiv oblast now hosts 24 Resilience Centers for internally displaced persons and people with disabilities, 12 veteran “one-stop” spaces, 11 Veteran Development Centers, 4 Mental Health Centers, the innovative RECOVERY center, new rehabilitation modules in hospitals, and mental health support spaces in medical facilities, as well as 27 mental health hubs in educational institutions.
According to the Regional Police, law enforcement officers have identified two russian nationals who, during the full-scale invasion, intimidated residents of Kyiv oblast and threatened them with shootings. They demanded information people did not have, including the locations of Ukrainian troops.
Zhytomyr oblast
Zhytomyr Regional Police reported that technicians explosives technical experts in Zhytomyr oblast continue destroying enemy munitions after each massive shelling. During the latest inspections, law enforcement officers disposed of warheads from Kinzhal and Kh-101 missiles, as well as from Geran-2 attack drones that were discovered in the oblast.
Serhiy Koverdun, Hospital Director of Korosten Central City Hospital, said that a refrigerated container has been installed on the grounds of Korosten Central City Hospital to store the bodies of servicemen killed in active combat zones. The bodies will be identified and then transferred for burial.
On 4 September, a mobile Blood Donor Day was held in Khoroshiv community. Staff from the oblast blood center collected blood and its components for the needs of local hospitals and military medical facilities treating wounded Ukrainian servicemen. More than 60 local residents came to the donation point in Khoroshiv.
Sumy oblast
Andriy Demchenko, Spokesman of State Border Guard Service, said that across Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts, despite all difficulties, Ukrainian defenders are holding their positions and inflicting losses on the russian army, killing and wounding dozens of infantrymen. According to him, recently the intensity of enemy assault actions in Khotin and Yunakivka communities, where the enemy continues attempts to advance, has decreased because russia is suffering heavy losses.
Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that on 5 September, around 9pm, russian forces attacked Sumy community by two strike UAVs. One drone was shot down in the air — the explosion was heard in Sumy. Another UAV struck Kovpakivka region, but not in a residential area.
During the night of 5 September, russian UAVs attacked the Sumy community, setting non-residential buildings on fire.
The Border Guard Service informed that in Sumy oblast, a russian FPV-drone hit the windshield of a border guard vehicle but did not explode. The UAV ricocheted, and the vehicle continued moving.
According to the State Emergency Service, due to a series of strikes on critical and industrial infrastructure in Sumy oblast on 4 September, a large fire broke out. The russian army repeatedly struck the area where firefighters were extinguishing the blaze. Emergency workers were not injured.
A russian fixed-wing strike UAV hit a railway track in Sumy oblast but did not explode. A mobile police bomb disposal team examined the debris and found the UAV was equipped with two warheads — a high-explosive (part of an anti-tank mine) and a thermobaric one. Specialists disarmed it and moved the explosives to a designated location for controlled detonation.
The Regional Military Administration reported that as a result of russian shelling in Sumy oblast over the past day, four people were injured. In Sumy community, two men born in 1963 and 1966 were injured when a UAV struck a civilian infrastructure facility. In addition, a 56-year-old man was wounded by debris from a downed drone, and a girl born in 2005 was injured by UAV fragments.
The RMA added that two more civilians — a 65-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man — sought medical help after being injured in earlier attacks.
During the day, from the morning of 4 September to the morning of 5 September, russian forces carried out 122 attacks on 49 settlements in 14 territorial communities of the oblast. The most shelling was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy heavily used guided aerial bombs (about 20 strikes), MLRS (about 20 strikes), UAVs (about 20 strikes), dropped grenades from UAVs (more than 10 strikes), and also carried out FPV-drone strikes across the oblast.
As of the morning of 5 September, the consequences of russian strikes in Sumy oblast include: in Sumy community — damage to civilian infrastructure and non-residential buildings; in Seredyna-Buda community — damage to a civilian infrastructure facility; in Svesa community — damage to non-residential buildings and five cargo vehicles.
During the day, seven people were evacuated by local authorities together with SES units, the National Police, and NGOs from border communities.
The State Emergency Service announced that rescuers evacuated a woman with a disability and her mother from Bilopillia community. They were taken to a safe location.
Chernihiv oblast
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that on the morning of 5 September, russian forces used UAVs to attack critical infrastructure in Novhorod-Siverskyi community. Parts of the region were left without electricity. Critical infrastructure facilities were connected to backup power sources, and “Points of Invincibility” were set up in the area.
The Department of Civil Protection and Defense Work of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration reported that on 4 September, russian UAVs attacked Novhorod-Siverskyi region. As a result, a residential house caught fire in Novhorod-Siverskyi community. In Semenivka community, dry grass was burning; in Lubiane village, three uninhabited houses caught fire; in Kostobobriv village, a residential house was set ablaze.
Due to a russian missile strike on employees of a humanitarian demining mission near Chernihiv on 4 September, eight people were injured and two were killed. This strike on a civilian humanitarian operation constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law, the statement said.
Chernihiv Border Detachment informed that during the day on 4 September, russian forces attacked four border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Horodnia, and Snovsk. A total of 57 strikes were recorded. The enemy carried out mortar and artillery shelling, launched FPV-drone strikes, and dropped explosive devices from UAVs. Eighteen settlements came under enemy fire.
According to Chernihiv City Hospital No. 2, two people wounded in the russian missile strike near Chernihiv on 4 September remain in moderate condition, while two others were discharged for outpatient treatment.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the oblast council, reports that at night, the enemy attacked the region with drones. The defenders of the sky destroyed 15 enemy UAVs. In the Dnipro, fires broke out. An enterprise was damaged. The occupiers also hit Pokrovsk community of Nikopol region with a drone.
In Synelnykove region, Pokrovske, Dubovykivka and Mezhova communities were hit. Four people were injured – a 64-year-old woman, men aged 70, 51 and 42. A transport enterprise, 9 private houses and a shop were damaged. About 40 strikes – during the day, the occupiers also struck Nikopol region with drones and artillery. They targeted Nokopol, Pokrovsk, Chervonogryhorivka, Myrove and Marhanets communities. In Nikopol, a 51-year-old woman was injured due to artillery shelling. Fires broke out, medical and educational institutions, 5 apartment buildings, 9 private houses, a tractor, 3 cars, a minibus, 5 outbuildings, a power line, a shop, warehouses, private enterprises, garages were damaged. According to updated information, a car and a garage were damaged due to the night attack in Nikopol.
Vinnytsia oblast
A memorial rally was held in Vinnytsia region on the anniversary of the death of 26-year-old serviceman Serhii Kuzmenko. He went to defend Ukraine in August 2022. He was the driver of the battalion commander and a signalman.
Kirovohrad oblast
In the village of Sednivka, Ustinivka community, Kropyvnytskyi region, serviceman Dmytro Moroz was welcomed, who was released from Russian captivity on July 23, 2025. He spent three years and three months there.
Cherkasy oblast
Uman paid tribute to the fallen defender Oleh Klimuk. The soldier was killed in Kharkiv oblast. He was a border guard inspector, a driver of the fire support unit.

On 4 September, the occupiers carried out 569 attacks on 14 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces launched 6 airstrikes on Stepnohirsk, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Chervone, and Omelnyk. 385 UAVs of various types (mainly FPV) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Malokaterynivka, Bilenke, Plavni, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Shcherbaky, Chervone, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Charivne. 6 MLRS attacks hit Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, and Chervone. 172 artillery strikes targeted Plavni, Huliaipole, Chervone, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novoandriivka. There were forty reports of damage to private houses, apartments, outbuildings, and cars. Seven people were injured as a result of enemy attacks on Zaporizhzhia city, Zaporizhzhia and Polohy regions.
Yesterday, 4 September, three combat clashes took place near Kamianske and Mala Tokmachka towards Orikhiv.
Satellite dishes that broadcast Ukrainian TV were banned in the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia oblast. The occupation authorities ordered residents of the temporarily seized territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast to dismantle all satellite dishes capable of broadcasting Ukrainian TV channels by 1 October, 2025. They are to be replaced with those that transmit signals from russian propaganda TV.
Mykolaiv oblast
Yesterday, 4 September, the enemy twice attacked the coastal area of the city of Ochakiv and the waters of Ochakiv community with FPV drones. Also yesterday at 10:11, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community with an FPV-type drone. There were no casualties.
Kherson oblast
In the morning, a russian drone took the life of farmer Oleksandr Hordiienko. The enemy attacked the car he was working in while in the field. Oleksandr was the the “Hordiienko” farming enterprise owner and headed the regional association of farmers and private landowners.
russian troops attacked a resident of Zmiivka in Beryslav community with a drone. The 51-year-old man sustained a blast injury and a shrapnel wound to his leg.
russian forces shelled private houses in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson with artillery. Rescuers recovered the body of a deceased woman from the rubble of one of the destroyed homes. Her identity is being established.
russian troops attacked a resident of Zmiivka in Beryslav community with a drone. The 51-year-old man sustained a blast injury and a shrapnel wound to his leg.
A woman sought medical help after being injured during the russian shelling of Dniprovskyi district of Kherson on the night of 2 September. The 61-year-old Kherson resident was diagnosed with a blast injury and a head bruise.
On 4 September, russian forces shelled Kherson, Prydniprovske, Kizomys, Sadove, Antonivka, Stanislav, Romashkove, Bilozerka, Mykilske, Oleksandrivka, Shyroka Balka, Komyshany, Sofiivka, Beryslav, Novoraisk, Dudchany, Novooleksandrivka, Vysoke, Kachkarivka, Ukrainka. As a result of russian attacks, an apartment building and 17 private houses, a critical infrastructure facility, five cars, a truck and trailer, two warehouses, a utility building, a transport workshop, and a garage were damaged. Three people were killed and eight wounded, among them a police officer, due to russian attacks.
On 4 September, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled two enemy attacks near Antonivka towards Kherson.

An active trip was organized for military personnel undergoing rehabilitation at the Next Step Ukraine rehabilitation center and their loved ones – kayaking on the Rata River. The Travel Therapy project was created to give veterans, military personnel and their families the opportunity to emotionally unwind, discover the tourist gems of Lviv oblast and feel the support of the community.
Rivne oblast
The oblast has received nine more residents of Donetsk oblast. This is the 11th evacuation flight in the past two weeks. People were placed in communities of the Rivne district. In total, 170 residents of Donetsk oblast have arrived in Rivne oblast by evacuation trains since 21 August.
40 children from Rivne oblast went on a health vacation. This is the 8th such group this year. They will rest near Kyiv, at the International Children’s Center Artek. These are children of combatants, missing and deceased, orphans deprived of parental care, as well as children with disabilities. Over the previous 7 shifts, 241 children from Rivne oblast have already rested in Artek.
Ternopil oblast
Two rolls of non-woven fabric for making camouflage nets were received by volunteers who weave nets on Tekstilna Street, Ternopil, from the community.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
Khmelnytskyi City Council reported that 33 families of the fallen Heroes will receive about UAH 850,000.
Chernivtsi oblast
Chernivtsi Museum of Local Lore has been enriched with special witnesses of modern history – the wreckage of an enemy drone Italmas shot down in Sumy oblast. The wreckage was provided by the Military Unit A 4917.
