War in Ukraine today: latest news, 31 May, 2024 (photo)

It has been the 828th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6pm:   

The number of combat engagements increased to 70. As before, the situation remains the most tense towards Pokrovsk.  The defence forces are holding back the onslaught and are responding decisively to the enemy’s actions.

Kharkiv axis: the enemy continues to use guided aerial bombs against Ukrainian settlements from the territory of the russian federation. Terrorists dropped three more UAVs from the direction of belgorod on Bilyi Kolodiaz. In total, since the beginning of the day, this village has been hit by six bombing attacks from russian airspace.

Kupiansk axis: the enemy attempted to storm the positions of the Ukrainian Defence Forces 10 times. Hostilities are still ongoing near Petropavlivka Berestove and Druzheliubivka. The situation is under control.

Lyman axis: the enemy became somewhat more active near Torske. Ukrainian defenders are steadily holding their positions and preventing the invaders from advancing.  

Siversk axis: the enemy is active again near Rozdolivka. The situation is under control.

Kramatorsk axis: the enemy has attempted to improve its tactical position 6 times since the beginning of the day. In the afternoon, Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy attacks near Nove, Andriivka and Bohdanivka.

Pokrovsk axis: 11 out of 24 battles are still ongoing since the beginning of the day. Also the invaders are attacking near Novooleksandrivka, Sokil, Umanske and Yevhenivka.

Kurakhove axis: the number of hostilities has not changed. At the same time, the enemy attacked Illinka with three UAVs and Yelyzavetivka with two UAVs.

Vremivka axis: the aggressor also continues to use guided aerial bombs.  The enemy dropped one UAV on Velyka Novosilka and Urozhaine.  

In other areas, the situation did not change significantly.


The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported that 72 defenders and civilians returned home. Among the released representatives of the Armed Forces are 50 (Navy – 13, Air Force – 2, State Border Guard Service – 7, TRO – 6), NGU – 21 and 4 civilian women.

According to the Coordination Headquarters, the bodies of 212 fallen soldiers have also been recovered. After identification, the bodies of our defenders will be handed over to their families for a decent burial.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, towards Kharkiv, the invaders continue to use guided aerial bombs against Ukrainian settlements from the territory of the russian federation. Three more UAVs were launched from the direction of  belgorod and landed on Bilyi Kolodiaz. In total, since the beginning of the day, this village has been hit by six bombing attacks from russian airspace. Towards Kupiansk, russians attempted to storm the positions of the Defence Forces of Ukraine 10 times. Fighting continues near Petropavlivka, Berestove and Druzheliubivka.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the RMA, stated that 6 residents of Kharkiv oblast returned home during the exchange of prisoners on 31 May. According to his preliminary data, among them are two residents of Kharkiv, residents of Izium, Chuhuiv, Kupiansk and Izium regions.

Volodymyr Tymoshko, Head of Kharkiv police, confirmed that at present, there are three known hits in Novobavarskyi district of Kharkiv: a five-storey residential building, a shop located in a three-storey building and a sewing workshop. According to the regional Prosecutor’s Office, at least 20 residential buildings were damaged by the strikes.

Artem Astakhov, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv oblast, said that rescuers have eliminated the hazard in the house in Novobavarskyi district. According to him, the rescuers are currently clearing the site to allow cranes to enter to lift the slabs that have fallen inside the house.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv RMA, reported that 8 people were hospitalised, 2 of them in critical condition. Also, a 12-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy were sent to hospital, both in moderate condition. The enemy again used the tactic of double strikes.

Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of Derhachi community, informed that the russian military attacked Ruska Lozova and Kozacha Lopana with drones. In Ruska Lozova, a private house was damaged as a result of a hit. In Kozacha Lopan, several private houses and a car of local residents were destroyed and damaged. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The regional Prosecutor’s Office said that the invaders also shelled Vovchansk and Shestakove. A volunteer from Switzerland was injured in the shelling of Vovchansk on 30 May. The man had arrived in Ukraine on a humanitarian mission to help evacuate people and animals from the areas of active hostilities. Doctors provided him with medical assistance. The 29- and 38-year-old men were injured as a result of shelling in Shestakove village, Chuhuiv region.

Yesterday at 11:50pm, a five-storey building in Kharkiv was shelled by rockets. 6 people were killed, 26 people injured, including 2 children – a boy and a girl aged 12. Another 4 people are still under the rubble. As a result of the repeated shelling, a rescue fire truck and ambulances were damaged. The shelling also hit a three-storey administrative building and an open area.

One person was killed as a result of the shelling of a two-storey production building. 

At 4:12pm, Ruska Lozova village in Kharkiv region was damaged. The shelling hit an outbuilding and the ground on the territory of a private household. Two men were injured as a result of the shelling.

At 4pm, a Swiss man volunteer was injured in Vovchansk while evacuating animals as a result of hostile shelling of the KAB in Vovchansk.

At 2:03pm, a separate educational building burned down as a result of shelling in Bohuslavka village, Izium region.

At 2pm, a rocket attack on an open area outside the outskirts of Rohan village of Rohan community.

At 1:50pm, a car was on fire as a result of the shelling of Novoosynove village, Kupiansk region. 6 private households were damaged. One person was killed and another injured.

At 1:30pm, in Yurchenkove village, Chuhuiv region, two shops were destroyed by the shelling of the KAB bombs, one of them was completely destroyed and a man injured.

There were two combat engagements towards Kharkiv. The enemy’s attempt to advance near Starytsia was stopped by the decisive actions of Ukrainian defenders.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attempted 9 times to force our units out of their positions. 6 enemy assaults were repelled near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Miasozharivka and Druzheliubivka. There were no losses of positions, the situation is under control. At present, fighting continues near Druzheliubivka, Andriivka and Ivanivka.

Donetsk oblast

According to the General Staff, towards Lyman, the situation is tense as russian troops are trying to attack near Dibrova. The defence forces are taking measures to stabilise the situation.

According to the Khortytsia operational-strategic group, the enemy’s attempt to advance near Terny failed towards Lyman. The situation is under control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Attacks were repelled near Torske, Serebrianka forest and Dibrova.

Towards Siversk, fighting continues near Berestove, Bilohorivka, Vyimka and Rozdolivka.

Towards Kramatorsk, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the enemy’s attempts to approach Chasiv Yar. During the week, attacks near Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, Nove, Ivanivske and Hryhorivka were repelled.

Towards Toretsk, an enemy attack near Kurdiumivka was repelled.

Towards Pokrovsk, half of the enemy attacks were repelled near Sokil, Nevelske, Netailove and Yevhenivka. The fighting continues. Attacks were repelled near Kalynove, Novoselivka Persha, Novooleksandrivka, Prohres, Umanske and Yasnobrodivka.

Towards Kurakhove, fighting continues near Novomykhailivka. The enemy’s attempts to advance near Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka and Heorhiivka were repelled.

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that on 31 May, a prisoner of war, who defended Azovstal, returned to Ukraine. The woman met with her son, whom she had not seen for over 2 years. The Eastern Regional Centre of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War added that during the exchange of prisoners, an investigator from Mariupol, Mariana Checheliuk, was returned to Ukraine.

According to Donetsk Regional Military Administration, at least 1 person was killed and 3 injured as a result of the shelling of Drobysheve. The village was under enemy attack 4 times this morning and as a result, 4 private houses and 4 cars were completely destroyed, 5 houses, an administrative building and other objects were damaged.

The operational situation in the oblast as of the morning of 31 May is as follows:

Towards Volnovakha, an agricultural enterprise was damaged in Bohoiavlenka of Vuhledar community.

Towards Pokrovsk, 2 people were injured in Krasnohorivka. 2 houses were damaged in Kurakhivka and the outskirts of Kurakhove shelled. A house was destroyed in Vozdvyzhenka of Hrodivka community. A house was damaged in Novohrodivka.

Towards Kramatorsk, a building was destroyed in Torske of Lyman. The outskirts of Kostiantynivka community were under attack.

Towards Bakhmut, russians dropped a KAB-250 on Pivnichne of Toretsk community and as a result, 1 person was injured, 66 houses and an infrastructure facility damaged. In Chasiv Yar community, 2 apartment buildings and 5 private houses were damaged. Another house was damaged in Serebrianka of Siversk community.

In total, russians shelled settlements in Donetsk oblast 7 times over the day. 155 people, including 24 children, were evacuated from the frontline.

Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that yesterday russians injured 3 civilians: 2 in Krasnohorivka and 1 in Pivnichne. 

Luhansk oblast

Russians shelled Nevske and Novoliubivka again, several explosions were heard as a result of attacks from multiple rocket launchers. The enemy also opened artillery and mortar fire. The shells hit residential areas and logistics.

Stelmakhivka, Kuzemivka and Makiivka were shelled.

Yesterday the enemy attacked near Miasozharivka, Andriivka, Bilohorivka and Serebrianka forest.

The aggressor launched an airstrike at our positions near Serhiivka using six unguided missiles.

According to Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the occupation authorities of Rubizhne and Sievierodonetsk are not taking any measures to eliminate the consequences of forest fires that have broken out around these cities. The settlements are covered in smoke. The fire is also spreading to the forests near Kudriashivka, a neighbouring town to Rubizhne.

Artem Lysohor, Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, reported that the invaders are intensifying the access regime in the territories occupied in 2022. Additional checkpoints have been set up in Bilokurakyne, Novopskov and Starobilsk regions. The men are thoroughly checked and sent to military commissariats.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the RMA, informed that russian troops attacked Kyiv oblast with drones at night. According to him, the air defence forces eliminated a kamikaze drone outside one of the oblast’s settlements. No hits to residential or critical infrastructure were recorded. There were no casualties.

According to KMWA, a private household, a service station, a car wash, 6 cars and a warehouse were damaged in the capital as a result of a russian missile strike. Due to the fall of debris in Holosiivskyi district, a fire broke out in an area of approximately 120m².

DTEK reported that in the morning, fragments of russian missiles damaged the power grid and completely destroyed a transformer substation in Holosiivskyi district. As soon as the security situation allowed, most of the buildings were powered by backup sources. About 10 private houses and one commercial building remain without electricity.

42-year-old Irpin resident SerhiI HonHalov was killed in action for Ukraine on 27 May while carrying out a combat order. He was carried to his final resting place along a human corridor performed by the city’s residents and buried on the Alley of Memory of the Defenders of Ukraine. The head of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn, noted that this is the eighth hero to be buried by the community in May.

Irpin and Bakhmut signed a Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation. Residents of Bakhmut and Irpin are beginning to share their experience in rebuilding Irpin community, sharing projects and best practices. The Irpin community has about 300 internally displaced people from Bakhmut, and they need help with housing and integration in a new place.

Kyiv City State Administration said that adults, adolescents and children can receive free services from psychologists, psychiatrists and psychotherapists. The Psychiatriia Clinical Hospital is conducting training for employees of Kyiv’s healthcare facilities on the provision of psychological assistance and psychosocial support during a crisis and traumatic events.

The 21st Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival begins in Kyiv. Despite the obstacles and troubles caused by the war, the organisers have managed to put together a large-scale programme – more than 60 films from 34 countries will be screened.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to the RMA’s Regional Development Department, construction work is underway at 3 sites as part of Zhytomyr oblast Recovery Programme. The premises of Malynivka Lyceum were damaged as a result of russian armed aggression. The blast wave smashed the windows in the building. These were restored using materials purchased at the expense of the state budget.

According to the report of Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office, in Zhytomyr oblast 375 convicts have expressed a desire to defend Ukraine, 137 of whom are already serving in the Armed Forces.

Sumy oblast

Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of the RMA, reported about the slight decrease in the number of mortar and artillery attacks in Sumy oblast.

The RMA stated that at night, the russian military dropped an explosive device from a UAV on the territory of Yunakivka community.

Over the past day, the russians attacked at Sumy oblast 14 times – a total of 52 attacks from various types of weapons were recorded. Seven border communities came under fire: Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Miropillia, Khotyn, Esman, Svesk and Velyka Pysarivka.

A specialised centre for searching for missing persons under martial law has been launched in Sumy police. Representatives of the centre accept applications and maintain communication with the families of missing persons in special circumstances, provide them with professional advice, and take genetic material from relatives for further identification using DNA samples.

According to Krasnopillia village council, on 31 May, Nataliia Chepusenko and Iryna Andriievska were laid to rest in Krasnopillia. The women were killed in a russian missile attack on the town centre on 29 May.

The American organisation Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) in partnership with the Howard G Buffett Foundation (HGBF) brought 151 windows to Sumy to restore houses. City council informed that the aid is intended for 7 houses damaged by the Shahed drone on Kharkivska Street and in Khimmistechko district. According to the city’s infrastructure department, 24 multi-storey buildings in Sumy were damaged as a result of military aggression in March and April.

Chernihiv oblast

Over the past 24 hours, russian troops attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast. According to the State Border Guard Service, a total of 27 explosions were recorded, including attacks from mortars and FPV drones. A drone dropped explosives with toxic gas in Semenivka community.

On 31 May, Ukraine returned 14 National Guardsmen from russian captivity, who served at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in February 2022. All of them are from Chernihiv oblast. According to the National Guard of Ukraine, the soldiers are now being sent to a medical facility where they will be examined by doctors and provided with all the necessary care and treatment, their lost documents will be restored and the rehabilitation process will begin. A total of 75 people have been returned from russian captivity.

In Chernihiv oblast, an inclusive space to support veterans, their families, youth and vulnerable groups is planned for creation. The intention to jointly implement the project “Pavilion 8 – Social Cohesion Hub” was confirmed by the RMA, Chernihiv City Military Administration, Loft.Biz LLC and the Modern Youth of Ukraine charitable foundation. The hub is to become a place of active social life and educational opportunities.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that at night, the defenders shot down 1 Shahed over Dnipro oblast. The occupiers also shelled Nikopol and Marhanets community of Nikopol region with artillery. During the day, the russians launched 5 kamikaze drones, hitting the region’s centre and Pokrovsk community. 

A National Guard soldier from Kryvyi Rih with the call sign Sarmat was awarded with the Golden Cross from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During a rotation in the fall of 2023, a mortar crew under the command of Sarmat destroyed a mortar, ammunition and personnel of the russian army near Zavitne Bazhania village of Donetsk oblast.

Vinnytsia oblast

City Mayor Serhii Morhunov reported that 3 Vinnytsia defenders returned from captivity: Andrii, Mykola and Oleksandr.

Almost UAH 20,000 was raised for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the charity children’s fair “Read! We Help!” in Vinnytsia. It was organised by Ivan Bevz City Central Library on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

Kirovohrad oblast

38 puppies and 1 adult dog were evacuated from Kharkiv oblast to Kirovograd. Volunteers brought the hungry, sick and frightened animals from the front line to Znamianka.

Poltava oblast

Oleksandr Kanibolotskyi, a 65-year-old volunteer from Poltava oblast, raised more than UAH 1m by cycling his charity marathon. It is known that he travelled 1,000km.

Cherkasy oblast

According to Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that as part of the latest prisoner exchange, 2 Cherkasy residents returned home. These are junior sergeant Oleksandr Shpytsia and soldier Yaroslav Samarin. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday the occupiers launched 372 strikes on Zaporizhzhia oblast. The enemy launched an airstrike on Lobkove. 150 UAVs of various modifications attacked Huliaipole, Levadne, Robotyne, Mala Tokmachka, Malynivka and Novoandriivka. 11 MLRS attacks hit Robotyne and Mala Tokmachka. 210 artillery strikes targeted the areas of Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Robotyne, Levadne, Malynivka and Nesterianka. Four reports of housing destruction were received.

It is reported that the occupiers carried out nine assaults in the areas of Staromaiorske, Mala Tokmachka and Novoandriivka towards Orikhiv. They had no success.

Mykolaiv oblast

Early this morning, 31 May 31, at 1:50am, the enemy shelled the city of Ochakiv with artillery. There were no casualties.

166.3 hectares of territory have been cleared in Mykolaiv oblast thanks to mechanised demining machines. Ten pyrotechnic teams from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine are working in the region, including units from Mykolaiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Sumy oblasts. 23,763 explosive devices (including 74 aerial bombs) have been removed and destroyed, and 7,073 hectares have been cleared since the beginning of the invasion.

During April-May 2024, dog handlers and sappers from the Interregional Rapid Response Center demined areas in Pervomaisk community. Over two months, sappers, with the help of Belgian Shepherd dogs named Alf and Kvad, surveyed 4.98 hectares and found 57 explosive devices. Alf and Kvad will be replaced by other Belgian Shepherds named Achilles and Arni.

Odesa oblast

There were defenders of Zmiinyi Island among the 75 Ukrainians who were released from russian captivity on 31 May. The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported that 19 defenders of Zmiinyi Island were returned to their homeland.

10 educational centres are operating in Odesa oblast within the framework of the UNICEF Ukraine project, implemented by the Winds of Change charitable foundation with funding from the Japanese government. The main task of these centres is to provide education for students who do not have full access to offline learning. For this purpose, all centres are equipped not only with digital equipment and furniture but also with modern Starlink satellite systems, ensuring uninterrupted operation of the spaces. Attendance at the educational centres is free, and children can engage in additional learning as well as enhance their computer literacy skills. There is also an opportunity to receive help with homework and take breaks with interactive gadgets available in the spaces.

Kherson oblast

31 May, 2024, around 6:30pm, russian military forces attacked the city of Beryslav with drones. Three people were injured and taken to the hospital. 

Today, the russian army attacked Kherson several times. As a result of another shelling, a medical facility building was damaged.

On the morning of 31 May, russian forces shelled downtown Kherson. One person was injured.

Yesterda russian troops shelled the right bank of Kherson oblast with artillery, aviation, and UAVs. Kherson, Antonivka, Ivanivka, Oleksandrivka, Novotiahynka, Bilozerka, Novodmytrivka, Veletenske, Stanislav, Poniativka, Prydniprovske, Beryslav, Burhunka, Novooleksandrivka, Vyrivka, Olhivka, Kachkarivka, Mykhailivka, Zolota Balka and Lvove suffered from enemy attacks. 10 private houses, an educational institution, a penitentiary facility, a gas pipeline, and a car were damaged. One person was killed due to russian aggression.

A 27-year-old man was injured by a russian mine in Myroliubivka. The resident received explosive and head injuries, concussion, and shrapnel wounds to the head. His condition is assessed as moderate.

It is reported that the enemy carried out 14 unsuccessful assaults near the village of Krynky on the left bank of the Dnipro, in temporarily occupied Kherson oblast. After suffering losses, they retreated to their original positions. 

Yesterday Ukrainian defenders eliminated 135 occupiers. The enemy also lost 24 pieces of weaponry and military equipment. A fuel storage site, a field supply point, and three observation posts were destroyed.

The Home Care social project continues to operate in Kherson oblast. A team of 60 specialists works in 12 settlements, including Kherson, providing support and care to more than 300 people in need. Since the beginning of the year, social workers have made over 11,000 visits to those in need and provided more than 93,000 different services. The implementation of this project was made possible thanks to the support of the Red Cross.

Volyn oblast

Lutsk community sent 3 DartBee quadcopters and a DJI Mavis 3 to the Military Unit A 2298 and 2 DJI Mavic 3T Enterprise quadcopters to the Military Unit A 4848.

Zakarpattia oblast

Roman Sarai, Head of Zakarpattia Regional Council, met with Jozef Miklosko, Commissioner for Children’s Rights of the Slovak Republic, and Eduard Burash, Expert Advisor to the Commissioner for Children’s Rights. They discussed cooperation between the Children’s Rights Commissioners of Slovakia and Ukraine.

Students of Uzhgorod Lyceum №3 received a flag with the signatures of soldiers of the 33rd Separate Mechanised Brigade in gratitude for active volunteering. Students raised funds for components for drones during the school year on weekends together with the Zakarpattia Military Support Movement non-governmental organisation. From December 2023 to 21 May this year, they raised UAH 500,000.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

44 children from Pokrovsk have arrived in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, who will undergo social rehabilitation and recovery in the Kosiv specialised children’s sanatorium. This week, over 80 children from front-line oblasts were accepted by Prykarpattia institutions for rest and recovery.

Lviv oblast

Residents of Chervonohrad region sent 3 FPV drones to the 110th Separate Mechanised Brigade. Funds for these drones were raised thanks to charity concerts.

The French delegation visited Lviv region, led by Philippe Laliot, Director of the Center for Crisis Situations and Support of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, and Pierre Salignon, Director of the Center for Humanitarian Operations and Stabilization (COHS) of the Ministry. The goal is to establish cooperation in the fields of medicine and energy. Guests visited medical institutions, which mainly rehabilitate victims of russian aggression.

The RMA reported that the main railway station in Lviv will become the first fully barrier-free railway station in Ukraine.

Oleksii Zatvornytskyi, defender from Lviv oblast, was posthumously awarded with the III degree For Courage Order. The hero was killed on 13 December, 2022, near Yakovlivka, Donetsk oblast.

Rivne oblast

The RMA reported that residents of Rivne oblast received 16 positive decisions within the framework of the Grants for Veterans program. 10 of them are combatants, another 6 are members of their families.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil City Council reported that the community sent 2 Mavic 3 Pro quadcopters to the 72nd Separate Mechanised Brigade.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi became a member of the Association of European Cities – Eurocities. This decision was made at a meeting of the Executive Committee of Eurocities during the annual conference. Eurocities is a leading international organisation that unites over 200 European cities that work together to ensure quality life for 150m people.

The RMA reported that the oblast sent 7 special vehicles, included, Mitsubishi all-terrain pickups, a Volkswagen minibus and a Mercedes-Benz truck, to units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi City Council allocated UAH 5.7m to support the military.

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. They discussed creating opportunities for the integration of IDPs into the life of local communities.

Chernivtsi City Council sent 10 DJI Mavic 3T quadcopters, 10 DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo quadcopters, 17 EcoFlow charging stations, 5 remote antennas, 6 tablets and a portable storage device, to the military unit.

Germany is preparing a new €500m package of military aid to Ukraine, includes missiles for air defence systems of various ranges, reconnaissance drones, spare parts for equipment, additional Marder infantry fighting vehicles, armoured combat vehicles, anti-aircraft systems and electronic warfare equipment, several hundred sniper rifles and one one million rounds of ammunition for small arms.

Australia will spend $20m to strengthen Ukraine’s energy system. The government allocated $11m as additional humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Part of the funds will also go directly to support people with disabilities.

Ukraine and Sweden signed a security agreement. Kyiv will receive assistance in the amount of €6.5bn during 2024–2026.

Ukraine signed a security agreement with Iceland. During 2024-2028, Iceland will allocate almost $30m annually.

Ukraine signed a security agreement with Norway. The country will provide Ukraine with about €1.2bn in military aid this year. In general, the country has invested almost €6.4bn in long-term support for Ukraine for the years 2023–2027.

Hanke Bruins-Slot, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, stated that the country allowed Ukraine to use F-16 fighters on the territory of the russian federation. She noted that the use of Western aircraft over the territory of russia gives Ukraine Article 51-a of the UN Charter, which speaks of the right to self-defence.

Joe Biden, US President, allowed the use of American weapons on the territory of the russian federation, but only for counterattacks in Kharkiv oblast.

Steffen Gebestreit, Spokesman of the German government, announced that the country allowed Ukraine to use German weapons for strikes on the territory of russia.

Lars Lucke Rasmussen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, announced that the country allowed Ukraine to use the F-16 to strike targets in the russian federation.

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, spoke via video conference with Mauricio Suleiman, President of the World Boxing Council. They discussed supporting the Peace Summit.
