On 3 September, there were 58 combat clashes on the frontline.
Border settlements,namely Znob-Novhorodske, Prohres, Bobylivka, Studenok, Shalyhyne, Buniakyne in Sumy oblast, suffered from artillery shelling from the territory of the russian federation.
Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian defenders repelled two russian attacks. The enemy launched three missile and three airstrikes, used three missiles and dropped six guided aerial bombs, and carried out 80 artillery attacks, including two from multiple launch rocket systems.
Towards Southern Sloboda, Ukrainian soldiers stopped two enemy attacks near the settlement of Vovchansk, three more combat clashes are ongoing.
Towards Kupiansk, the aggressor carried out three assault operations in the vicinity of the settlement of Zahryzove and Kupiansk.
Towards Lyman, the invading army attacked eight times near the settlements of Novomykhailivka, Ridkodub, Karpivka, Shandryholove, and Serebrianka. Three clashes are ongoing.
Towards Siversk, the Defense Forces repelled three enemy attacks near Hryhorivka and Serebrianka.
Towards Kramatorsk, the invaders made four attempts to advance towards the settlement of Stupochky. One clash is still ongoing.
Towards Toretsk, Ukrainian soldiers stopped two enemy offensive operations near the settlements of Pleshchiivka and Poltavka.
Towards Pokrovsk, the invaders made 29 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from the occupied positions in the vicinity of the settlements of Shakhove, Fedorivka, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Horikhove and near the settlements of Novy Donbas, Myrnohrad, Sukhyi Yar, Pokrovsk, and Zvirove. The defense forces are holding back the enemy’s onslaught and have already stopped 23 attacks.
Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy attacked three times in the vicinity of the settlements of Yalta, Voskresenka, and Komyshuvakha. Two combat clashes are still ongoing.
Towards Huliaipole and Orikhiv, there were no enemy offensive actions. The settlements of Bilohiria and Veselianka were subjected to airstrikes.
Towards Kherson, the enemy made a vain attempt to break through the defense of Ukrainian defenders. The enemy carried out an air strike in the area of the settlement of Olhivka.
The situation on other front lines did not change significantly.

Kharkiv oblast
Frontline
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, three combat clashes are ongoing near Vovchansk; the Defense Forces repelled two assaults. Near Zahryzove and Kupiansk, Ukrainian troops have prevented russian advances three times today.
There were 166 combat clashes in the oblast.
Towards Southern Sloboda, our forces stopped ten enemy attacks in the vicinity of Krasne Pershe and Vovchansk.
Towards Kupiansk, there were twelve enemy assaults. Our defenders repelled offensive actions near Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, and in the direction of Monachynivka.
Shelling
Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of the Military Administration, says that a russian FPV drone killed a 50-year-old man riding a bicycle in Kozacha Lopan.
Around 07:00, a russian FPV drone attacked a civilian car traveling between Tsupivka and Nova Kozacha.
Over the past day, eight settlements in Kharkiv region came under enemy strikes. No casualties were reported.
The enemy actively used various types of weapons against Kharkiv oblast:

▪️ 2 FPV drones.
Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:
▪️ In Kharkiv region – a car (Tsupivka village), a private house (Slatyne settlement);

▪️ In Izium region – a private house (Shyikivka village); 3 private houses (Kalynivka village).
Kharkiv City Council reported that in Kharkiv, an instrumental examination continues on the building in the Industrialnyi district hit directly by Shahed UAVs on August 18. After the results are received, it will be determined whether the building can be restored.
At the intermediate evacuation transit point in Lozova, 128 people were registered in the past day. Since its opening, 1,336 people have been received there.
Almost twice as many kindergartens in Kharkiv and the region will operate in person in the new academic year compared to last year, said Olha Bezpalova, head of the regional Department of Science and Education, to Ukrainian Radio Kharkiv.
According to the Regional Military AdministrationIn, in Kharkiv oblast, 576 general secondary education institutions began work in the 2025–2026 academic year, which is 36 fewer than last year.
Kateryna Semeniuk, project curator, says that in Kharkiv, a new work by Vitalii Kokhan, “In memoriam of all of us,” appeared on the facade of School No. 165, which had been damaged by shelling. The street art consists of quotes and simple images of everyday wartime life, which the artist carved into tiles from the ruined building.
Donetsk oblast
Shelling
In Kostiantynivka, the shelling with tube artillery began around 10:30 and lasted for over an hour. As a result of the attack, 8 civilians were killed: three women aged 46, 72, and 74, and five men aged 44, 52, 57, and 76 (the identity of one deceased person is still being established). Six people were wounded. In addition, russia struck two civilian cars with drones — one person was killed and another injured.
On September 2, there were 2,019 enemy strikes on the frontline and residential areas.
Fourteen settlements came under fire: the cities of Bilozerske, Dobropillia, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Kramatorsk, Lyman, Mykolaivka, Sloviansk; and the villages of Bezzabotivka, Varvarivka, Maiachka, Novoandriivka, Novostepanivka, Ocheretyne.
Thirty-seven civilian objects were damaged, including 27 residential houses.
In Sloviansk, russians hit with two Geran-2 UAVs, injuring one civilian and damaging 9 private houses.
In Kostiantynivka, russian forces launched 4 GAB-250 bombs and 5 FPV drones — three people were injured, 4 apartment buildings and one private house, a bus, two cars, and a crane were damaged.
Druzhkivka was shelled with drones during the day and again at night. In total, 10 people were injured in the city, including a girl born in 2008. Six apartment buildings were damaged.
In Kramatorsk, an enemy Molniya-2 UAV damaged three private houses. In Varvarivka of the Andriivka community, three households were damaged.
In Lyman, an FPV drone struck a private house. Mayachka in the Cherkaska community was attacked with a Smerch MLRS, damaging 2 private houses and a civilian car. In Bezzabotivka, Novoandriivka, and Novostepanivka of the Oleksandrivka community, non-residential buildings were damaged.
In Dobropillia, Russia carried out a combined strike with three KAB-250 bombs and two “Geran-2” UAVs — three private houses and a hospital were damaged.
After the shelling of the city of Myrnohrad by russian occupiers, the Dymytriyivskyi Church burned down, reported the Pokrovsk Vicariate on September 3.
Other
The Regional Military Administration reported that over the past week, more than 1,800 residents left Donetsk oblast. As of September 2, 2025, more than 1.29 million residents have been evacuated from Donetsk oblast, including over 197,000 children and about 47,000 people with disabilities.
Luhansk oblast
russian forces carried out 18 assaults yesterday on the Lyman sector of the front, including attacks near Hrekivka and Dibrova. According to the Regional Military Administration, they struck 22 times with tube artillery, launched attacks with a multiple rocket launcher system, and directed 37 UAVs and FPV drones toward Ukrainian defenders.
The pilot project “Orliata-doshkilnyata” (“Eaglets–Preschoolers”), introduced last year, has been expanded in kindergartens of the so-called “lnr.”
In Sievierodonetsk, due to a shortage of fuel, public bus services have been reduced to a minimum. Relevant notices have been posted at bus stops. Because of the lack of mobile communication and internet, locals have no other sources of information.
What is happening now in the north of Ukraine
Kyiv oblast
At night, the enemy launched a combined massive attack on Kyiv region. In Vyshhorod, falling debris from a downed target caused a fire between apartment buildings. The fire was promptly extinguished. Windows in 28 apartments and one car were damaged, while another car was completely burned out. A kindergarten also sustained broken windows.
Within the framework of the “Clear Sky” project, almost 70 enemy drones were intercepted on the regional border on the night of August 3, reported Mykola Kalashnyk, head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration.
UK Defense Secretary John Healey arrived in Kyiv. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal welcomed his British counterpart at the capital’s railway station. According to him, during the talks they will coordinate “key issues of the upcoming meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group,” which will convene in London.
In Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, 25 sites were damaged in the latest Russian attack, including residential buildings, private homes, kindergartens, and warehouses. Twenty-three people were killed, including four children. On Boryspilska Street, at just one location, 137 residents sought assistance. In a building destroyed by a missile, 55 rooms were completely demolished, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported.
An operational group has been established in Kyiv to provide an immediate response to both individual and systemic requests for the restoration of housing destroyed or damaged by Russian strikes, said Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. This mechanism will also be implemented separately in each district. In addition, social managers will begin working at administrative service centers (CNAPs), with each manager assigned to a specific affected family.
The Regional Military Administration reported that Kyiv Regional Center for Civilian Training in National Resistance will hold a one-day training in tactical preparation and medical aid for local residents. It will take place on Sunday, September 7.
Zhytomyr oblast
About 52,100 internally displaced persons live in Zhytomyr oblast, according to the Regional Military Administration. A list of 20 temporary accommodation sites has been approved, currently housing 458 people. Among them is a modular town in Veresy village of Zhytomyr urban community, opened in April 2025, which has become home to 159 people.
In 2025, Zhytomyr City Day will be celebrated together with Mariupol City Day to highlight the resilience of the two communities and support residents of the temporarily occupied city in Donetsk region. As part of the joint celebration, organizers have planned an inclusive literary and informational exhibition project “Vezha. Steps of Memory.” The exhibition site was prepared by art curators of “Vezha” together with the team from Mariupol — representatives of the NGO “I am Mariupol.”
Sumy oblast
The General Staff reported in its morning update on 3 September that towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, Ukrainian troops repelled 8 russian attacks. Over the past day, russian forces carried out 8 air strikes, dropped 17 guided aerial bombs, and launched 282 artillery attacks, including 12 by multiple launch rocket systems.
Serhiy Kryvosheienko, Head of Sumy City Military Administration, said that on 3 September, the russian army once again struck central Sumy by a Molniya UAV. According to preliminary reports, no casualties were recorded and no significant damage or destruction occurred.
The State Emergency Service of Sumy Oblast informed that later that morning, a russian drone struck one of the settlements in Buryn community. A disused residential building caught fire.
According to the City Council, in Vorozhba community, FPV-drones and strike UAVs damaged a business facility and residential houses.
A man injured in enemy shelling while carrying out construction work in Shostka region died in hospital. The 35-year-old man from Poltava oblast sustained severe wounds on 26 August. Doctors fought for his life for a week, but on the evening of 2 September he passed away.
Police explosives experts defused a drone that hit the grounds of an agricultural enterprise in Sumy oblast but did not detonate.
The Regional Military Administration reported that from the morning of 2 September to the morning of 3 September, russian forces carried out 108 attacks on 51 settlements in 18 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (over 20 explosions), MLRS strikes (10 explosions), UAVs (over 10 strikes), as well as FPV-drones and VOG drops from UAVs.
Consequences of russian strikes in Sumy oblast as of the morning of 3 September:
- In Bilopillia community, a girl born in 2011 was injured when a UAV struck a residential house, and a driver born in 1980 was wounded when a UAV hit his car. Non-residential premises, a private household, and one car were damaged, while another was destroyed;
- In Sumy community, a civilian infrastructure facility and an administrative building were damaged;
- In Znob-Novhorodske community, a tractor was damaged;
- In Seredyna-Buda community, a civilian infrastructure facility and private households were damaged;
- In Vorozhba community, two private houses were damaged;
- In Nova Slobidka community, a private house was destroyed;
- In Stepanivka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged.
Over the past day, 6 people were evacuated from border communities by local authorities together with the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and NGOs.
The Regional Military Administration informed that in Sumy, efforts continue to eliminate the consequences of the 2 September night-time UAV attack. Eleven buildings were damaged, including administrative offices and infrastructure facilities. Dozens of windows were shattered, balconies of five-storey buildings damaged, as well as a public transport stop, the civil registry office, lighting networks, and a private car. A 14-year-old girl injured in the attack is receiving outpatient treatment and is in stable condition.
Sumy oblast honoured the memory of fallen artillerymen – 17 servicemen of the 27th Brigade who died on 3 September 2014 in Luhansk oblast as a result of enemy shelling. At Bell of Sorrow, a minute’s silence was held in remembrance of those who gave their lives for Ukraine, its independence and freedom.
Chernihiv oblast
Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional Military Administration, said that in the border town of Semenivka, a russian drone struck a private house on 3 September, causing it to catch fire. The fire was contained.
Chernihivoblenergo reported that on the morning of 3 September, russian forces attacked energy infrastructure facilities in Chernihiv oblast by drones. As a result, 43,000 consumers in Nizhyn and Pryluky regions were left without power. Energy workers are swiftly restoring supply to social infrastructure facilities and households.
According to the Regional Police, during the night of 3 September, the russian army attacked settlements in Nizhyn region by drones. Private houses and outbuildings of local residents were damaged.
The Regional Police informed that in Borzna city, a drone strike during the night of 3 September caused a fire in a house. The blast wave damaged seven residential buildings and two cars in the city.
The Department for Civil Protection and Defence Work of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration reported that eight russian drone explosions resulting in six fires in residential areas and natural landscapes were recorded in Chernihiv and Nizhyn regions on 2 September. As a result, residential houses, outbuildings, and vehicles were damaged. In addition, more than 1.5 hectares of dry grass and forest undergrowth were burned.
Chernihiv Border Detachment informed that during 2 September, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Horodnia. The enemy carried out mortar strikes (5 explosions) and tube artillery shelling (4 explosions), and launched strikes by Molniya UAVs (1 explosion), Lancet UAVs (2 explosions), FPV-drones (21 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (11 explosions). Eleven settlements came under enemy fire.
Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the RMA, announced that in Chernihiv oblast, testing of the differentiated air raid alert system, which lasted a week, has been completed. The zoned system will now operate on a permanent basis.
In the town of Mena, Hryhorii Kochur Street was renamed in honour of the fallen pilot, one of the “Ghosts of Kyiv” and a native of the town, Oleksandr Myhula. The town also plans to install memorial signposts with electronic codes, enabling residents and visitors to learn more about the pilot.
Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine
Zaporizhzhia oblast
Yesterday, 2 September, the occupiers carried out 408 attacks on 12 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces launched 6 airstrikes on Huliaipole, Uspenivka, Poltavka, and Chervone. 239 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Bohatyrivka, Plavni, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novoselivka. Four MLRS strikes hit Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, and Chervone. 159 artillery strikes targeted Plavni, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, Novoandriivka, and Chervone. There were 35 reports of damage to private houses, apartments, farm buildings, and cars. One person was killed as a result of an enemy attack on Polohy region.
Residents of Berdiansk region received humanitarian aid from GEM. Internally displaced persons from 8 communities of Berdiansk region received food packages from the international organization Global Empowerment Mission Ukraine.
Mykolaiv oblast
Air defense forces shot down or suppressed eight Shahed 131/136 attack UAVs or decoy drones of various types over Mykolaiv oblast. As a result of the combat operation and falling debris two private houses were damaged in Voznesensk region.
Yesterday, 2 September 2, the enemy carried out an artillery strike and attacked Kutsurub community five times with FPV drones. As a result of the attack two private houses were damaged in the village of Dmytrivka. No casualties were reported.
Odesa oblast
Ninth-grader Dmytro Shevtsov from Odesa oblast independently collected and donated 45,000 hryvnias and an FPV drone to Ukrainian soldiers. The boy organized fundraising along the highway and at school. His classmates also joined in: together they held a patriotic fair at school and raised another 25,000 hryvnias. Soldiers of the “Phoenix” unit, which Dmytro supports, came from the east to the school assembly on 1 September to acknowledge the boy’s initiative.

Kherson oblast
It became known about the deaths of two residents of Kherson oblast as a result of russian attacks on 2 September. As a result of yesterday’s shelling of Stanislav, a 46-year-old man sustained fatal injuries. A resident of Antonivka was fatally wounded in an artillery strike.
Yesterday, the russsian forces shelled Antonivka, Zelenivka, Molodizhne, Prydniprovske, Sadove, Bilozerka, Yantarne, Doslidne, Kizomys, Stanislav, Oleksandrivka, Sofiiivka, Shyroka Balka, Poniativka, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Novotiahynka, Beryslav, Tomaryne, Zmiivka, Vysoke, Tiahynka, Dudchany, Kostyrka, Chervonyi Maiak, Osokorivka, Lvive, Mykolaivka, Odradokamianka, Novooleksandrivka, Khreshchenivka, Shylova Balka, and the city of Kherson. As a result of the attacks, 2 apartment buildings, 5 private houses, and a private car were damaged. Fourteen people were injured due to russian aggression.
As a result of russian shelling on 2 September, eight settlements in Beryslav region were left without power. The outage occurred after a strike on a critical infrastructure facility in the village of Vysoke. The russian attack caused a fire extinguished by the State Emergency Service and the local fire brigade of Tyahynka community.
According to the General Staff, as of 16:00 on 3 September, the enemy made an unsuccessful attempt to break through the defenses of Ukrainian defenderstowards Kherson.
The Ukrainian Navy destroyed another high-speed boat of the russian Black Sea Fleet that attempted to deliver an airborne unit to the Tendrivska Spit. Seven occupiers were killed and four were wounded.
A 17-year-old boy was successfully returned to Ukraine from the temporarily occupied left bank of the Kherson oblast. He is now receiving the necessary assistance.
The Center of National Resistance reports that the russians opened special classes to train combat medics in the seized medical college in temporarily occupied Henichesk, Kherson oblast. At the same time, civilian students are present in the same college.
Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine
Volyn oblast
Another massive UAV attack on the oblast took place. As a result of falling debris, 2 garages and an outbuilding were on fire, another outbuilding was damaged by debris. A private truck was completely burned out. The fires are now extinguished. All relevant services are working on the ground to make sure that the area is safe.
Zakarpattia oblast
The III All-Ukrainian Urban Mobility Forum has begun in Uzhhorod. The Forum will include practical workshops, panel discussions, and discussions on the topics of transport accessibility, traffic safety, development of cycling infrastructure and micromobility, adaptation of transport systems to war conditions, and introduction of innovative technologies.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
Tonight, the oblast was subjected to a combined enemy attack. The Air Defense Forces were working. The target was an infrastructure facility. As a result of enemy shelling, a large-scale fire broke out. There are three fire centers with an area of about 9,000 sqm in warehouses. At the moment, the fire has been localized, the liquidation is ongoing. There are no casualties. 130 rescuers and 35 units of SES equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
As a result of the fire, an excess of formaldehyde was recorded in the air – a dangerous substance that is formed during the burning of plastics, paints and varnishes and can cause irritation of the respiratory tract. Its indicators are gradually increasing. In view of this, the decision of the local commission for technogenic and environmental safety and emergencies recommended temporarily suspending the educational process in educational institutions of the community. Residents were advised to limit their stay on the street and tightly close windows and doors.
Lviv oblast
Tonight, the enemy launched about 15 drones in the direction of Lviv. There are no casualties. One of the premises where sculptors worked (making monuments) was partially destroyed. The fire has already been extinguished. District administrations are additionally inspecting the city.
Rivne oblast
Rivne oblast was subjected to a massive air attack this night. Thanks to the professional actions of the air defense forces, many enemy targets were neutralized. Representatives of the Security and Defense Forces are already working on the scene. People and infrastructure were not harmed.
Ternopil oblast
13 servicemen from Ternopil will receive a one-time payment of UAH 15,000 for treatment and rehabilitation. Since the beginning of 2025, 427 soldiers have already received such support, and in 2024 – 295.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
At night and in the morning, the enemy again attacked Khmelnytskyi oblast. The Air Defense Forces destroyed 3 enemy strike UAVs of the Shahed type and 1 cruise missile of the Caliber type. One enemy drone was lost in the field. A man was killed as a result of the attack. Over 50 windows in an educational institution and more than 100 windows in residential buildings were broken. There is also damage to the territory of a utility company, non-residential premises were damaged, private garages and cars were destroyed and damaged, as well as utility infrastructure and two trolleybuses. In addition, there were problems with electricity supply in one of the villages of the community.
Chernivtsi oblast
At night, 7 enemy UAVs were recorded within the borders of Chernivtsi oblast. One of them was neutralized by the Air Defense Forces in Dniester region. The others went beyond the borders of the oblast. There were no casualties, injuries, or damage in Chernivtsi oblast as a result of another terrorist attack by russians against the civilian population.
