Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
Kharkiv oblast
Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, reports that russian troops attempted a massive assault with armored vehicles near Borova this week, but the attack failed—the equipment did not even reach firing positions. As of 16:00, according to the General Staff of the AFU, towards Southern Sloboda, russians attempted five times to improve their positions near Starytsia, Prylypka, Vovchansk, Volchanski Khutory, and Chuhunivka; one battle is ongoing. In Kharkiv oblast, two children have already been removed from frontline communities this way. After evacuation, children are examined by medics, then efforts are made to hand them over to relatives or place them in foster or adoptive families under the supervision of guardianship authorities. One case involved a six-year-old boy with a disability who was evacuated after his mother refused to leave despite the shelling. Experts note that the law requires further detail—specifically regarding the procedures for forced removal and the conditions of the children’s stay. Currently, there are no children left in the forced evacuation zone in Kharkiv oblast, but it may be expanded to new settlements.

According to the police, the evacuation followed repeated visits by law enforcement, explanations of risks and responsibilities, and an administrative protocol was filed against the woman for failure to fulfill parental duties.
