It has been the 1160 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The total number of combat engagements along the entire frontline is 92.

The invaders do not stop attacking the border settlements. Hostile artillery fire hit Stepok, Uhroidy, Khliborob, Porozok, Prokhody, Mezenivka, Porokhon, Bila Bereza, Studenok, Ulanove, Osoivka, Budivelne, Khrinivka, Sosnivka in Sumy oblast; Lemishchyne and Tymofiivka in Kharkiv oblast. The areas of Miropilske and Petrushivka in Sumy oblast came under hostile air strikes.

Towards Kharkiv, seven firefights took place in the areas of Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory and Zapadne. One firefight is still ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy stormed the positions of Ukrainian troops twice near Zahryzove and Nova Kruhliakivka, and one firefight is ongoing.

Towards Lyman, the aggressor attacked eight times near Katerynivka, Nove, Kolodiazi and in the direction of Novyi Myr. Three firefights are currently ongoing.

Towards Siversk the enemy conducted three offensives towards the localities of Hryhorivka and Verkhnokamianske.

Towards Kramatorsk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled three enemy attempts to advance in the direction of Markove and near Chasiv Yar and Bila Hora, and four more combat engagements are still ongoing.

Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions eight times in the area of Toretsk and towards Dyliivka and Dachne. Three firefights are still ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders 38 times in the areas of Malynivka, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Novooleksandrivka, Nadiivka, Troitske, Kotliarivka, Sribne, Andriivka and towards Stara Mykolaivka, Oleksandropil, Novopavlivka and Bohdanivka. Six firefights continue. Popiv, Volodymyrivka, Poltavka, Nova Poltavka, Malynivka, Kozatske, Hrodivka, Novoekonomichne, Myrnohrad, Lysivka, Sukhyi Yar, Pokrovsk and Zvirove were hit by air strikes.

Towards Novopavlivka, our defenders repelled 12 enemy attacks near Kostiantynopil, Vilne Pole and in the direction of Odradne, Bahatyr and Shevchenko. One firefight is still ongoing. The enemy conducted air strikes in the areas of Zelene Pole, Novopil and Piddubne.

Towards Huliaipole, the enemy launched air strikes on Huliaipole.

Towards Orikhiv, Ukrainian defence forces stopped three enemy attacks. The enemy tried to advance near Shcherbaky, Stepove and Lobkove, with one firefight still ongoing.

Towards Kherson, the enemy made five attempts to advance.

Five combat engagements took place towards Kursk today, three of them are still ongoing. In addition, the enemy carried out ten air strikes, dropped 14 unmanned aerial vehicles and fired 164 artillery shells, including one from multiple launch rocket systems.


The Air Force reported that over the three years of the full-scale war, russia has fired 67,000 guided bombs and more than 22,000 shaheds at Ukraine. Since 24 February 2022, Ukrainian air defence has shot down: 2,496 cruise missiles, 465 guided aircraft missiles, 97 ballistic missiles, 40 X-47M2 Kinzhal aerial ballistic missiles, and 17,575 Shahed strike UAVs. The Air Force has actually exhausted the resource of missiles for Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems, and now our soldiers are counting on the support of partners to continue supplying Western systems. Ukrainian soldiers have proven that they can quickly master Patriot, F-16, Nasams and other technological weapons, and most importantly, effectively use them against the world’s “second army”.

Russia has taken another 230 Ukrainian school students under the guise of “cultural trips”. This time, the schoolchildren from Donetsk oblast ended up in St. Petersburg under the Cultural Card 4+85 programme. In total, it is planned to take more than 3,000 children to different cities of the russian Federation by October to impose russian identity and prepare them for assimilation. The National Resistance Centre emphasises that this is a violation of international law.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline

The General Staff reported that russia shelled Lemishchyne and Tymofiivka with artillery.

Towards Kharkiv, seven firefights took place in the areas of Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory and Zapadne. One firefight is still ongoing.

Towards Kupiansk, the invaders stormed the positions of Ukrainian troops twice near Zahryzove and Nova Kruhliakivka, and one firefight is ongoing.

The RMA informed that yesterday towards Kharkiv, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders six times in the areas of Vovchansk, Krasne Pershne and Mala Shapkivka.

Three attacks took place towards Kupiansk yesterday. Our defenders stopped the enemy’s assault in the areas of Nova Kruhliakivka and Petropavlivka.

Attacks

The Kharkiv Regional State Emergency Service reported that on 28 April, russian aircraft attacked the private sector in Kupiansk, setting a fire in one of the buildings. There were no injuries as a result of the russian strike.

At 4:30am, russians attacked Vyshche Solone. A private house was damaged as a result of shelling, type is being established.

At 3:08am, russians attacked Mokra Rokytna village. Ten Shahed UAVs hit the building of a calf farm, an administrative building, three cowsheds, two warehouses and a car. 22 cattle were killed and 30 cows injured.

At 2:30am, russians attacked Izium. A warehouse and a production building were damaged as a result of shelling by a Geranium 2 UAV.

At 1:03am, russians attacked Barvinkove. As a result of shelling by two Shahed UAVs, an administrative building, an outbuilding, 2 cars and a combine harvester were damaged.

Yesterday at 11:20am, russians attacked Vidrodzhenivske. The shelling destroyed a private house and damaged 2 outbuildings.

At 9:03am, russians attacked Kupiansk. A car caught fire as a result of an FPV drone hit. A local doctor was injured and diagnosed with acubarotrauma.

At 8:22am, russians attacked Zolochiv village.  A Molniya UAV hit the road as a result of shelling.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that last week, russian troops attacked Kharkiv 54 times. According to him, the city experienced the most massive combined attack since the beginning of the full-scale invasion – 10 missiles and 14 drones were fired.

Other

The press service of Kharkiv regional police reported taht three men blew themselves up the night before in Mala Komyshuvakha when they were sawing an artillery shell. Law enforcers found out that the men had decided to dismantle the self-propelled artillery system for scrap. Two of the three died as a result of the detonation.

Donetsk oblast

Frontline

The General Staff reported that russian troops reduced the number of attacks towards Toretsk to nine. Yesterday there were 20 more attacks. Moreover, the russian army attacked in the areas of Ozaryanivka, Dachne, Dyliivka, Shcherbynivka and Toretsk.

Yesterday, 27 April, Ukrainian defenders stopped the most attacks – 64 – towards Pokrovsk.

Attacks

Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office informed that at 4am, russian troops struck Novoekonomichne village in Pokrovsk region. The shelling killed a couple aged 76 and 78. Also, a 47-year-old local resident sustained injuries incompatible with life.

In addition, last night the occupiers shelled Bilytske and Dmytrivka in Kramatorsk region, damaging an outbuilding and a garage.   

Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of the CMA, said that at 2:20am, the russian army attacked Kramatorsk with three Geranium-2 UAVs, causing no casualties or injuries. According to preliminary information, four private houses, educational and cultural institutions, and warehouses were damaged.

Yesterday russia launched 3,014 attacks on the frontline and residential areas.

The enemy focused fire on 5 settlements: Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Sloviansk, Zarichne and Novoekonomichne.

Russians attacked Kostiantynivka with 5 KAB-250 bombs and a drone, killing three civilians and injuring five others. 9 apartment blocks and 23 private houses, an educational institution, a hospital, a boiler room and two civilian cars were damaged.

Two people were killed as a result of the shelling of Novoekonomichne in Pokrovsk region.

A civilian was wounded in Zarichne of Lyman community and an outbuilding damaged.

Russian troops attacked Sloviansk with 7 unmanned aerial vehicles, causing damage to the railway facility.

Other

Hennadii Yudin, Head of the Evacuation Measures Department of Donetsk Police, reported that the police recorded that at least seven graves of local residents buried in yards rather than cemeteries in Pokrovsk. The data on these deaths are being recorded to launch an investigation into the death of a person.

Luhansk oblast

The RMA reported that russians used 139 unmanned aerial vehicles in our sector of the frontline yesterday. They focused their attack efforts towards Lyman.

They tried to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Nadiia. They had fire support – they fired 10 times from cannon artillery. They fired twice from multiple launch rocket systems.

In Siverskodonetsk, the occupation forces conducted a door-to-door inspection. They warned about the cunning of telephone fraudsters. However, the city has been without electricity and internet for more than two years. So, it will be known later what the russian law enforcement officers were really aiming for.

Also russians recently hit Milove with two shells. According to open sources, there was some damage, but no casualties. The fire was opened from a nearby training ground.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Timur Tkachenko, Head of KCMA, informed that the death toll from the russian attack on the capital on 24 April has risen to 13. A 45-year-old man died in hospital from burns sustained as a result of an enemy strike. He is survived by a minor daughter. Their house was completely destroyed.

Kyiv City Military Administration announced that the liquidation of the consequences of the combined russian attack on 24 April continues in Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv. A total of 106 buildings were damaged, including 84 residential buildings. According to preliminary information, 8 residential buildings are heavily damaged and require instrumental examination. One residential building was completely destroyed. Also, 74 vehicles were damaged, 50 of which are beyond repair.

Mayor Ihor Sapozhko said that the Centre for Preparing the Population for National Resistance in Brovary had graduated its first cadets. The training lasted 4 weeks. It is noted that more than 30 participants received skills in seven areas: firearms training, tactical training, tactical medicine, mine safety, basics of UAV use, terrain orientation, and life under martial law.

In Irpin, the Central City Hospital, which was damaged by russians during the occupation of Kyiv oblast, has been repaired. An Azerbaijani company provided funds for the restoration of the medical facility.

A documentary about the National Guard’s operation in Kharkiv oblast was shown in Kyiv. The documentary covers the first 24 hours of an offensive operation conducted by the 13th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine “Charter” in the north of Kharkiv oblast in late 2024. The documentary tells the story of the work and efforts of all the units of the brigade behind operations of this magnitude.

Zhytomyr oblast

The city council informed that Zhytomyr City Territorial Community commission is working to inspect the property and buildings damaged or destroyed by russian shelling. As a result of the russian shelling on the night of 27 April, a number of private houses in one of Zhytomyr’s neighbourhoods received damage, with windows smashed, doors broken, and roofs damaged. Representatives of the commission are recording the damage and explaining the mechanism for obtaining compensation through the state platform yeVidnovlennia.

In Zhytomyr oblast, registration for aid under the Housing for Vulnerable Households in Ukraine project has been open since the beginning of the year. The project has been implemented since the beginning of the full-scale intervention of the Charitable Foundation Caritas Zhytomyr. This year, assistance will be provided to internally displaced persons.

On 26 April, the IRON WARRIORS fest, a multidisciplinary veteran sports festival, was held in Zhytomyr at Polissia National University. All participants of the festival could try themselves in every sport to feel the sporting spirit, receive psychological assistance and then choose a sports ground to train at and receive physical rehabilitation and psychological help.

Sumy oblast

State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that towards Sumy, border guard drone operators detected a group of russian military personnel who had captured Ukrainian defenders. UAV crews from the 1st Separate Tank Siversk Brigade from Chernihiv oblast were dispatched to assist the border guards and freed three Ukrainian soldiers from captivity.

Mykola Noha, Head of Shostka community, informed that during the night of 28 April, the russian army struck Shostka urban territorial community with UAVs. An infrastructure facility was destroyed, a kindergarten, seven residential buildings, and vehicles were damaged. An emergency rescue team is working at the scene of the incident.

The Information Centre of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reported that in Shostka, due to shelling by the russian army, the Nativity of Christ Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was damaged. As a result of the shelling, windows in the church were shattered, and there is damage to the walls and icons.

According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, as a result of russian shelling in the oblast during the day on 27 April, one person was killed in Shalyhyne community.

During the day, from the morning of 27 April to the morning of 28 April, russian forces carried out nearly 125 shellings across 33 settlements in 13 territorial communities. The most attacks were recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used artillery, mortars, guided air-dropped bombs, FPV-drones, and UAVs: over 30 launches of air-dropped bombs; more than 20 strike UAV attacks; and nearly 20 FPV-drone attacks.

The Regional Military Administration reported  that the consequences of russian shelling on 27 April in Sumy oblast: in Seredyna-Buda community, private residential houses were damaged; in Esman community, a private residential house was damaged; in Vorozhba community, enterprise buildings were damaged; in Putyvl community, a private residential house and a car were damaged; in Shostka community, residential houses were damaged.

According to Operational ‘North’ Command, the consequences of enemy strikes over the past day, 27 April, are as follows:

In Chernechchyna, within Krasnopillia community, a woman was injured as a result of a drone attack. Additionally, an apartment building and two private houses were damaged.

In Novovolodymyrivka, within Seredyna-Buda community, a private house was damaged as a result of shelling.

In Shalyhyne, an educational institution was damaged. Additionally, a 35-year-old man died, likely as a result of a mine explosion.

Over the past day, local authorities, together with units of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and non-governmental organisations from border communities, evacuated 14 people.

Chernihiv oblast

Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that during the day on 27 April, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy carried out mortar shelling (32 explosions) and barrel artillery shelling (40 explosions), launched guided air-dropped bombs (2 explosions), conducted FPV-drone strikes (5 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (15 explosions). Eight settlements came under enemy fire.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Regional Military Administration informed that over the past week, russian forces shelled Chernihiv oblast 357 times, resulting in a total of 708 explosions across 35 settlements in the oblast. In Koriukivka region, russian forces shelled border settlements. The enemy attacked a forestry facility with FPV-drones, damaging equipment and machinery. In Novhorod-Siverskyi region, the enemy struck an enterprise specialising in logging.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening, russian troops attacked Novopavlivka community of Synelnykove region with a drone. A 34-year-old man was killed. The shelling hit a house, the building was destroyed by fire. In the morning, the invaders attacked Nikopol, damaging a private house and a gas pipeline. They attacked the Marhanets community of Nikopol region. They launched kamikaze drones and fired from artillery. 

During the day, the enemy attacked Nikopol region about fifteen times. They used kamikaze drones and artillery. They targeted the region centre, Myrove, Pokrovsk and Marhanets communities. A 59-year-old man was injured in Nikopol. He received the necessary medical assistance. Two private houses, an outbuilding, a petrol station, infrastructure and a power line were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

​Serhii Morhunov, Mayor of Vinnytsia, reported that Vinnytsia oblast has handed over 150 high-powered FPV drones and 4 turrets (remotely controlled combat modules) to the National Guard unit, the Chervona Kalyna brigade. 

Kirovohrad oblast

Serhii Shulha, Head of the regional branch of the Federation of Military Technological Sports, announced that Kirovohrad oblast hosted the first All-Ukrainian military technology sports tournament in FPV drone racing. Fifty civilian and military drone pilots from Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kirovohrad oblast took part in the competition. In February, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine officially recognised military technology sport as a non-Olympic sport, so the oblast is taking the first steps to develop it. 

Poltava oblast

Volodymyr Kohut, Head of Poltava  Regional Military Administration, said that during an air raid in Poltava oblast, a fire broke out in an open area of 0.2 hectares in the Reshetylivska community as a result of the fall of UAV wreckage. Rescuers are extinguishing the fire. There were no casualties. 

Memorial plaques to five soldiers who were killed during the russian-Ukrainian war will be installed in Poltava. They are to be placed on the facades of educational institutions in the Poltava community. These are Serhii Zainin, Vitalii Pashko, Maksym Serdiuk, and Oleksandr Tchaikovskyi. The decision on the installation of memorial plaques to the fallen Poltava residents is to be made on 8 May at a meeting of the executive committee of the Poltava City Council.

Poltava community has completed submitting applications for participation in the competition for vouchers for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developers. This year, 15 developers applied. Each project can receive from UAH 300,000 to 1m.

Cherkasy oblast

Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy RMA, reported that Cherkasy oblast has experienced one of the largest attacks. russia sent attack drones to the region. The defenders destroyed 15 UAVs. There was a hit. Critical infrastructure was in the enemy’s sights. In particular, a gas facility was damaged. About 117,000 consumers were left without gas. It will take about two to three days to restore gas supply. 

In Cherkasy, the funeral of defence lawyer Dmytro Yermakov was held. He died on 11 June 2024 in Kharkiv oblast while performing a combat mission.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Ivan Fedorov, Head of  Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that on 27 April, the occupiers launched 354 attacks on 12 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The russian troops carried out 21 airstrikes on Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Lukianivske, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Zaliznychne and Mala Tokmachka. 

Kamianske, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Novodarivka came under fire. There was one report of a building being damaged. There were no casualties. 

Last year, thanks to government grants of UAH 250,000 to UAH 1m, veterans were able to start their own businesses. Today, there are already 24 businesses started by veterans in Zaporizhzhia and the oblast. Also veterans make furniture, open cafes, fitness centres, hostels, medical laboratories, organise food delivery, develop cargo transportation business, work on the production of drones, and teach civilians first aid.

Kherson oblast

At around 5:30pm, russian proxies dropped explosives from a drone on a civilian in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. The man, born in 1988, sustained a mine-blast injury and shrapnel wound to his leg.

Two residents of Bilozerka, who suffered from russian shelling, were admitted to the hospital. An enemy shell hit a garage where a 39-year-old man and his 18-year-old son were staying. They sustained mine-blast injuries and contusions. 

Kherson RMA said that russian troops shelled Komyshany near Kherson with artillery. A 70-year-old man, 55-year-old and 72-year-old women were wounded. They have contusions, explosive and closed head injuries. 

Kherson RMA said that around 11:40 am, the russian army attacked a car with a drone in Bilozerka, Kherson oblast. A 61-year-old man sustained concussion, explosive and closed head injuries.

Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Sadove, Komyshany, Stanislav, Shyroka Balka, Tomyna Balka, Oleksandrivka were under enemy drone terror, artillery fire and air strikes yesterday, Mykilske, Poniativka, Beryslav, Chervonyi Maiak, Havrylivka, Dniprovske, Dudchany, Ivanivka, Kizomys, Kozatske, Kostyrka, Lvove, Novooleksandrivka, Olhivka, Sofiyivka, Tokarivka, Tiahyntsi and  Kherson.

The russian military hit social infrastructure and residential areas of the region’s settlements, in particular, damaging 4 multi-storey buildings and 17 private houses. The occupiers also damaged a gas pipeline, outbuildings and garages. Five people were injured as a result of the russian aggression.

Over the past week, russians have attacked the oblast with drones almost 2,100 times. 

A 48-year-old man who came under a russian attack in Kherson on 22 April was treated by doctors. He has an explosive injury and contusion. He will be treated on an outpatient basis.

Four more children were rescued from the temporarily occupied Kherson oblast. These are three boys and a girl. The youngest child is 10 years old, the oldest is seventeen. Among those rescued is a boy who was forcibly taken to a military enlistment office by the occupiers, his data was entered into the database as a russian conscript and even his military speciality was determined. The rescue mission was part of the initiative of the President of Ukraine Bring Kids Back UA and supported by the Save Ukraine charity. Since the beginning of this year, 39 children from Kherson oblast have been returned from the temporary russian occupation.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Lutsk community sent 2 EcoFlow Delta 2 charging stations to the platoon of the 3rd UAV of the Rifle Battalion of the Military Unit A 4056.

Zakarpattia oblast

Representatives of the RMA held a meeting with Petra Ksus, Head of the Consular Department of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Lviv. They discussed support for the Czech community in the oblast, its linguistic and cultural identity, the construction of a regional rehabilitation center, and the arrangement of housing for internally displaced persons.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

An art therapy concert by the Pie and Batig band was held at Ivano-Frankivsk Mental Health Center. The project is aimed at forming a culture of mental health care, the importance of which became especially relevant during the war.

Lviv oblast

The 125th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade received 344 drones thanks to the regional budget and some were donated by benefactors.

The RMA reported that during a charity event at Sheptytsk community center, over UAH 170,000 were raised.

Rivne oblast

Veterans of Rivne oblast took part in a sports festival. The IRON WARRIORS fest Zhytomyr was held for veterans, military personnel and their family members in the city of Zhytomyr.

Ternopil oblast

Another 36 new catalpas were planted in Ternopil as part of the final stage of the Support the Armed Forces of Ukraine – Plant a Name Tree charitable initiative. Thanks to the campaign, over  UAH 1.6m was raised for drones.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The 40th rotation of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) took place at Kherson NPP site. During a meeting with representatives of Kherson NPP and the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, Vitalii Lytus, Deputy Chief Engineer for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Kherson NPP, briefed the international experts on the security situation in the oblast where the power plant is located. Special attention was paid to the consequences of hostile attacks on civilian infrastructure and the population of Ukraine.

Chernivtsi oblast

Another distribution of humanitarian aid to people who found themselves in difficult life circumstances took place at the Unity hub in Chernivtsi. IDPs provided food kits tailored to the families’ most basic needs.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister, announced that Ukraine and the US have agreed that already provided American aid will not be counted in the mineral agreement.

Boris Pistorius, German Defense Minister, stated that Germany will provide military aid to Ukraine even if the US stops it.
