It has been the 1281  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

There have been 76 combat engagements along the entire front line.

The invaders are striking areas of settlements bordering the russian Federation. The settlements of Novovasylivka, Budivelne, and Bila Bereza were subjected to artillery shelling, while the settlement of Zarichchia in Sumy oblast was subjected to air strikes.

Towards North Slobozhanske and Kursk, Ukrainian soldiers repelled four attacks by the invaders today. The enemy also carried out 11 air strikes, using 20 guided aerial bombs, and carried out 134 shellings, specifically four from multiple launch rocket systems.

Ukrainian soldiers repelled three attacks in the areas of the settlements of Hlyboke and Kolodiazne towards South Slobozhanske.

Towards Lyman, the aggressor attacked twelve times today in the areas of Novomykhailivka, Novyi Myr, Zelena Dolyna, Kolodiazne, Torske, Serebrianka, Yampil, Zakytne, Dronivka and Shandryholove. Eleven combat clashes are still ongoing.

Towards Siversk, the Defence Forces repelled one attempt by the enemy to advance near Fedorivka.

Towards Toretsk, the enemy attacked the positions of our troops four times in the areas of Pleshchiivka, Toretsk, and Poltavka.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy attacked the positions of our defenders 28 times today in the areas of the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Sukhetske, Lysivka, Udachne, Molodetske, Novoukrainka, and in the directions of the settlements of Myrnohrad, Rodyne, Promin, Balahan, Novopavlivka, Chervonyi Lyman, and Pokrovsk. One combat engagement continues to this day.

Towards Novopavlivka, our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Filiia, Ivanivka, Voskresenka and Sichneve. Four of the eight enemy offensive actions were repelled, and four more combat clashes are ongoing.

Towards Kramatorsk, Huliaipole, Orikhiv and Kherson, there have been no combat clashes since the beginning of the day. The enemy launched air strikes on the settlements of Bilohiria and Mykolaivka.

Oleksii Kuleba, Head of the Ministry of Development, reported that 71% of Ukraine’s housing stock is ready for the heating season. This includes more than 103,000 buildings where roofs, heating, water and electrical systems have been repaired. Local authorities spent more than UAH 11.6bn towards this work, specifically 4% of personal income tax, which the state allocated to communities. In addition, 80% of social institutions, including kindergartens, schools, and hospitals, have been prepared.

The Ministry of Energy informed that russian forces attacked energy and gas transport infrastructure facilities in six regions of Ukraine overnight. The drone attack towards these facilities took place in Sumy, Poltava, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Frontline
Yesterday 173 combat clashes were recorded.

Towards South Slobozhanske, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders four times near Hlyboky, Vovchansk, Krasne Pershe and Doroshivka. They were repelled.

Eight combat clashes took place yesterday towards Kupiansk. Our defenders stopped the enemy’s assault in the direction of the settlements of Kupiansk and Nova Kruhliakivka.

Attacks
Viacheslav Zadorenko, Head of the CMA, said that in Nova Kozacha, at around 9:25am, a private house caught fire after being hit by a russian FPV drone. No one was injured.

According to the press service of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 69-year-old man and his 63-year-old wife were injured during an attack by a russian FPV drone on a civilian car in Kupiansk. The strike took place at around 9:20am.

Community Head Oleksandr Balo reported that around midnight, russian strike drones struck Mechybylove in Barvinkove community for the first time since the start of the russian invasion of Ukraine. As a result of the strikes, the only educational institution in the village was destroyed, and the hangars of a local agricultural company were damaged. No one was injured.

Viktor Kovalenko, Head of the Military Administraion, reported to Suspilne that around midnight, russian troops struck Makarove in Zolochiv community with drones. The strike hit a private household, damaging a house, farm buildings and power lines. No one was injured.

Over the past day, eight settlements were hit by enemy strikes.

Three people were injured as a result of the shelling.

In Izium, a 73-year-old and a 70-year-old woman were injured; in Kozacha Lopan, Derhachi community, a 68-year-old woman was injured.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons in Kharkiv oblast:

▪️7 Geran-2 UAVs;

▪️1 Lancet UAV;

▪️3 Molniya UAVs;

▪️4 FPV drones;

▪️1 UAV (type to be determined).

Civilian infrastructure was damaged and destroyed:

▪️a private house was damaged in Kharkiv region (Kozacha Lopan);

▪️a lyceum was damaged in Kupiansk region (Fedorivka);

▪️20 private houses, farm buildings, power lines (Izium), a private house, a farm building (Borova village), and an agricultural company warehouse (Mechbylove village) were damaged in Izium region;

▪️A car was damaged in Chuhuiv region (Losivka village).

Donetsk oblast

Frontline
34 battles were recorded towards Lyman. According to the morning report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops attacked near Novomykhailivka, Karpivka, Kolodiazi, Myrne, Torske, Olhivka, Shandryholove, Stavky, Dronivka, and Serebrianka.

Compared to the previous day, the russian army increased the number of assaults towards Siversk, Toretsk, Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka.

Attacks
According to Honcharenko, Head of the Military-Civil Administration, in the morning, the russian army fired on Kramatorsk with two drones, hitting a residential area and a hospital town. One person is known to have been critically wounded. At 11am, russian troops again attacked the residential area of Kramatorsk. The occupiers have launched three strikes on the city.

The russian army shelled the DTEK enrichment plant. The building of the enterprise was destroyed and the equipment seriously damaged.

On 26 August, the police recorded 2,005 enemy strikes on the front line and residential areas.

Eleven settlements were under attack: Dobropillia, Kostiantynivka, Lyman, Pokrovsk, Bokove, Drobysheve, Zarichne, Vysokopillia, Hannivka, Iverske, and Novoiavlenka.

46 civilian objects were destroyed, including 13 residential buildings.

Kostiantynivka withstood seven attacks. Five russian FPV drones attacked cars, killing one civilian and injuring four others. In addition, the Russians dropped two KAB-250 bombs on the city. Two apartment buildings, an administrative building, a garage, and six vehicles were damaged.

Russian troops dropped two KAB-250 bombs on Bokove in Dobropillia community, killing one person and injuring three others. A business and 11 civilian vehicles were damaged.

In Drobysheve, three residents were wounded when an FPV drone hit a civilian vehicle.

Two people were wounded in Pokrovsk, and a private home was damaged.

The occupiers struck Dobropillia with five KAB-250 bombs, damaging two enterprises. In Hannivka, Dobropillia community, a guided bomb strike damaged a business.

In Lyman, two private homes and three farm buildings were destroyed, and in Zarichne, a private home and three farm buildings were destroyed.

Due to the attack of four Geran-2 UAVs on the Novodonetsk community, four private houses were damaged in Novoiavlenka, and two private houses and an enterprise were damaged in Iverske. In Vysokopillia, Oleksandrivska community, a Geran-2 UAV damaged a private house.

Luhansk oblast

The enemy shelled settlements and our fortifications with all available weapons. Specifically, they launched an air strike. They fired twice with multiple launch rocket systems. They opened fire 22 times with barrel artillery. They directed 39 drones towards Ukrainian defenders.

The russians launched 34 assaults towards Lyman and nine more towards Siversk.

In Siversk, the russians are forcing people to pay for housing and communal services in advance. This applies to the maintenance of the area around the building. In their July bills, locals received charges several times higher than the approved tariff.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

In Kyiv, the prosthetics center “Human Titans” has been opened. It will operate on the basis of one of the city hospitals and provide assistance to wounded soldiers and civilians in need of modern prosthetics and rehabilitation, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported. This project was implemented thanks to the support of Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner, the charitable organization Life Bridge Ukraine, and ONUR GROUP Ukraine.

In the Kyiv region, the pyrotechnic unit of the Mobile Rescue Rapid Response Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has started working with a robot dog. It was developed to provide effective and safe support for demining operations, the Center’s press service reported. The robot is equipped with a front camera that transmits clear real-time images.

In Borodianka, a military-patriotic training for youth took place, the Regional Military Administration reported. Participants learned the basics of working with firearms and practiced exercises on an “obstacle course,” gained practical skills in operating drones, studied tactical medicine and mine safety, and underwent self-defense training.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr, the first graduation of trainees from the Regional Center for National Resistance took place, the Regional Military Administration reported. Twenty-six participants successfully completed the training and received certificates. They mastered tactical medicine, tactical-special training, and shooting, and reinforced the acquired knowledge through practical exercises.

In the Zhytomyr region, four Psychosocial Support Centers received vehicles as part of the PRO_MentalHealth_Zhytomyr project.

Sumy oblast

The Regional Military Administration reported that between 24 and 25 August, 43 enemy UAV launches were recorded in Sumy oblast. Almost half of them were downed by air defence forces.

In Okhtyrka, four drones struck during the night. A wood-drying enterprise and a car service station were damaged, while windows were blown out in nearby houses — windows that residents had only boarded up a week earlier, after russian forces attacked the city by 20 Shaheds.

Oleh Hryhorov, Regional Governor, said that on the night of 27 August, russian forces launched a massive drone strike on the outskirts of Sumy community, damaging infrastructure facilities.

Municipal transport operator Elektroavtotrans informed that due to partial power outages in Sumy, only buses are running across the city. Following the russian attack, all water utility facilities were cut off from power and switched to emergency backup supply. Artem Kobzar, Acting Head of the community, confirmed that hospitals in Sumy are also operating on backup power.

From the morning of 26 August to the morning of 27 August, russian forces carried out 60 attacks on 31 settlements in 15 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of strikes was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy actively used guided aerial bombs (over 20 strikes), and also carried out attacks by FPV-drones, UAVs, and dropped VOG grenades from UAVs.

The consequences of russian strikes in Sumy oblast as of the morning of 27 August:

  • In Shostka community, three men born in 1990, 1981, and 1977 were injured. A civilian infrastructure facility was also damaged;

  • In Trostianets community, non-residential buildings, a private house, 7 cars, and 2 tractors were damaged;

  • In Esman community, a private house was destroyed;

  • In Seredyna-Buda community, a private house was damaged;

  • In Bilopillia community, a non-residential building and a private house were damaged;

  • In Richky community, a private residential house was damaged;

  • In Sumy community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged;

  • In Okhtyrka community, non-residential buildings were damaged.

In Lebedyn community, 751 residents received free medical assistance in Fortitude mobile clinics over the past week. Patients were also able to undergo blood tests, ECGs, and other examinations. Following consultations and check-ups, all visitors received free medicines and glasses.

Chernihiv oblast

Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, Head of  Chernihiv City Military Administration, reported that on 27 August in Chernihiv, a drone exploded in a residential area, injuring two women. One of the women was hospitalised. According to the City Council, two houses were damaged.

Also on 27 August in Chernihiv, a Shahed drone crashed and exploded within the city, causing a fire at a local enterprise, Bryzhynskyi confirmed.

Viacheslav Chaus,  Regional Governor, added that as a result of russian UAV attacks on 27 August, 51 settlements in Novhorod-Siverskyi community were left without electricity. Seven Points of Invincibility were deployed for the population.

According to Chernihiv Border Detachment, three Shahed drone explosions were recorded near Novhorod-Siverskyi. An electrical substation and a mobile communication tower were damaged in the attack.

The Regional Department of Civil Protection and Defence Work informed that due to hostilities, as of the morning of 27 August, the number of consumers without electricity in Chernihiv oblast increased by more than 12,000. As of 26 August, the oblast had 19 power lines, 107 transformer substations, and 39 settlements (7 partially) cut off from power, leaving 2,433 consumers without electricity. By the morning of 27 August, the number had risen to 14,455 consumers in 94 settlements (7 partially).

Chernihiv Border Detachment reported that during 26 August, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and Snovsk. The enemy used Shahed-type UAVs (3 explosions), FPV-drones (3 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (3 explosions). Five settlements came under enemy fire.

According to the RMA, on 27 August, Chernihiv oblast launched a differentiated air raid alert system in test mode. The system is still undergoing testing.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the RMA, announced that four communities in Chernihiv oblast will receive support from partner communities in Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, and Poltava oblasts under the national project “Side by Side: United Communities”.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Air defense forces were active in the region. The defenders of the sky destroyed six enemy UAVs.

The occupiers struck the Synelnykove district. It was loud in the Pokrovske community. A fire broke out, and a farm was damaged. In the evening, at night, and in the morning, the enemy continued attacking the Nikopol area with artillery and drones. They targeted the district center, as well as the Pokrovske, Marhanets, and Myrove communities. An apartment building was damaged.

Throughout the day, with more than forty strikes, the enemy did not cease attacking the Nikopol area with artillery and drones. They targeted the district center, along with the Pokrovske, Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets, and Myrove communities. In the Pokrovske community, two men aged 38 and 65 were injured in drone strikes; they received necessary medical assistance. A fire broke out, damaging two private houses, a utility building, a non-operational structure, a garage, five cars, a gas station, and a gas pipeline.

According to updated information, the morning strike on the Malomykhailivka community of the Synelnykove district damaged around thirty private houses. An enemy drone also hit the Mezhivska community, damaging two private homes.

Vinnytsia oblast

In Vinnytsia, a cortege carrying seven unidentified fallen Heroes passed through the city. The procession went along the central streets, and residents were called upon to honor it with respect. The bodies of the unidentified fallen were delivered to the Vinnytsia Regional Forensic Medical Examination Bureau over a year ago as part of repatriation measures. During this time, no DNA matches with relatives of the deceased have been established. However, the DNA results of each fallen Hero remain preserved in the Unified Human Genomic Information Register for future comparison with relatives’ DNA, the Vinnytsia Regional Police reported.

Kirovohrad oblast

Defender Semen Kotov from the city of Svitlovodsk, Oleksandriia district, was killed in the war. This happened on August 24, 2025, during the execution of a combat mission. He was 44 years old.

Poltava oblast

During the night of August 26–27, the Russian army shelled the Poltava region. Falling debris and direct hits were recorded. As a result of the shelling, an energy sector enterprise was damaged, and fires broke out.

Soldiers from the Myrhorod district were killed. They are Oleh Martysh from the village of Maksymivka and Oleksii Drahan­chuk from the village of Yaresky.

Oleh Martysh was killed on August 14, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk region. He would have turned 33 years old.

Oleksii Drahan­chuk was killed on August 19 while on duty. He was 42 years old.

On the facade of Poltava Lyceum No. 17 “Intelekt”, a memorial plaque was unveiled in honor of the school’s graduate, serviceman Oleh Herasymov. He was killed as a result of artillery shelling in the Donetsk region in July 2024.

Cherkasy oblast

During the night attack on the Cherkasy region, air defense forces destroyed one Shahed drone. There was no damage to infrastructure and no casualties, reported Ihor Taburets, head of the Regional Military Administration.

Six servicemen from the Cherkasy region who were killed in the war with Russia were posthumously awarded state honors by the President of Ukraine. Oleksii Kozel, Mykola Mazan, Oleh Kot, Vasyl Datsiuk, Yurii Rybachenko, and Serhii Pronchenko were awarded the Order “For Courage.”

A serviceman of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade from the Cherkasy region, Roman Kolos, was awarded the “Silver Cross.” The decoration was presented by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Today, 27 August, russian forces carried out three strikes on the territory of Uspenivka in Polohy region. Private houses, farm buildings, and residents’ cars were damaged. Three people were injured.

Also today, the russian army attacked a private house in Chervonodniprivka, Zaporizhzhia region, with an FPV drone. As a result of the strike, a 76-year-old woman was injured.

Yesterday, 26 August, the occupiers launched 431 strikes on 14 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted six airstrikes on Orikhiv, Preobrazhenka, Bilohiria, and Poltavka. Three MLRS attacks targeted Plavni, Novodanylivka, and Mala Tokmachka. 291 UAVs of various modifications (mostly FPV) attacked Bilenke, Chervonodniprivka, Novotroitske, Plavni, Huliaipole, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Charivne. 131 artillery strikes were carried out on Plavni, Huliaipole, Orikhiv, Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Omelnyk, Mala Tokmachka, and Charivne. Forty-four reports were received about the destruction of houses, apartments, farm buildings, cars, and garages. One person was injured as a result of an enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Yesterday, 26 August, five fires broke out in the Zaporizhzhia oblast due to russian shelling. Residential houses, farm buildings, and a car were burning. There were no deaths or injuries.

According to the resistance movement “Yellow Ribbon”, competitions were held in kindergartens in temporarily occupied Melitopol, where children with toy weapons searched for Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. This “military-patriotic quest” for senior groups was organized with the approval of regional administrations as part of a broader campaign of military-patriotic upbringing.

Mykolaiv oblast

Yesterday, 26 August, the enemy attacked Kutsurub community three times with FPV drones and carried out artillery shelling. As a result of the attack two private houses were damaged  in the village of Solonchaky.

Also yesterday, the enemy attacked Halytsynove community three times with FPV drones. Three private houses were damaged in the village of Lupareve.

Yesterday, 26 August, the russians attacked the city of Ochakiv and the waters of Ochakiv community four times with FPV drones. There were no casualties.

Kherson oblast

This morning around 05:00 the enemy struck the city of Kherson with artillery, killing a woman.

Around 09:00 russian forces shelled a farm in Novovorontsovka with artillery. As a result of the attack, two workers were killed.

At approximately 16:15 russian occupiers shelled Kherson. Two men were injured in the attack and sustained blast injuries.

It also became known that another resident of Kherson oblast was killed by a russian drone strike. On 23 August occupation forces attacked a 78-year-old man with a UAV on the outskirts of Beryslav. He sustained fatal injuries.

Yesterday, 26 August, the russian forces shelled Antonivka, Molodizhne, Sadove, Prydniprovske, Naddniprianske, Oleksandrivka, Stanislav, Sofiivka, Shyroka Balka, Bilozerka, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Mykilske, Poniativka, Tokarivka, Klapaia, Beryslav, Zmiivka, Shliakhove, Tomaryne, Rakivka, Borozenke, Novoraisk, Chervonyi Maiak, Dudchany, Novovorontsovka, Osokorivka, Novooleksandrivka, Mykhailivka, Tiahynka, Mykolaivka, Odradokamianka, Olhivka, Vesele, Kozatske and the city of Kherson. As a result of the attacks, 3 apartment buildings, 5 private houses and private cars were damaged. 11 people were injured due to russian aggression.

The organizations Swedish Rescuers and Svenskbyborna delivered a Mitsubishi L200 off-road vehicle to Beryslav community to evacuate people from dangerous areas. Along with the vehicle, they also provided medicines, nets for drone protection, a set of tires, chainsaws and additional medical supplies.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Serhii Arkush, soldier of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade from Novodniestrov, was awarded the For Courage Order. He received a high state award for selfless performance of military duty.

Zakarpattia oblast

In Khust region, field receptions were held for relatives of prisoners of war and missing persons. Members of the military’s families received expert advice on social benefits, guarantees, assistance with document processing, legal and other support. Such events are held regularly within the framework of the work of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Thanks to cooperation with charitable organizations, the Ukrainian representative office of United Help Ukraine and Aid Pioneers e.V., the oblast received the necessary humanitarian aid for healthcare facilities. These include functional beds, medical clothing, medical consumables, surgical and gynecological instruments, patient care products, and textiles for a total amount of over UAH 430,000.

Lviv oblast

A production center for prosthetics and rehabilitation of defense personnel will be opened in Lviv oblast. It will be operational in the fall at Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytsky.

Zhovtanets community sent cars to the combat zone for soldiers. The 1st car will reinforce the 540th Lviv Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky. The 2nd car will be received by a resident of the village of Remeniv, the car was sent by friends-philanthropists from Norway, the Yaskiv family. A serviceman from the village of Zhovtanetsi, who was discharged from military service, Kovaliv Stepan, handed over a previously purchased car.

In Kyiv, at the Independence Cup tournament held within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Powerlifting Federation, a monk from Lviv oblast, Makarii (Mykola) Dutka, set his 12th Ukrainian record. In addition, he raised UAH 210,000 for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Rivne oblast

Over 1,500 servicemen in Rivne oblast have already received free dental treatment and prosthetics. The services are provided in 12 medical institutions in Rivne oblast.

Ternopil oblast

16 defenders from Ternopil will receive a one-time grant of UAH 15,000 for treatment and rehabilitation. Since the beginning of 2025, such financial assistance has already been provided to 414 Ternopil soldiers, and during 2024, 295 soldiers received it. In addition, 38 defenders will receive funds to purchase the necessary equipment. Since the beginning of the year, 2,599 community soldiers have already used such assistance, and in 2024, 3,198 servicemen received funds.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The military received 12 DJI MATRICE 4T quadcopters from Khmelnytskyi community.

Chernivtsi oblast

Partners from Germany donated equipment for educational institutions in Shatsk community. Partners brought a generator for Pishchansky Lyceum; a playground for Shatskyi kindergarten Rosinka; desks for three classes and furniture for teachers for the Svityazky Lyceum educational institution; tablets and interactive panels (will be distributed among secondary education institutions.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Swedish government has reached an agreement with the European Union to allocate EUR 66.4m to support the state budget of Ukraine. The funds are provided through the Ukraine Facility mechanism.

Ukraine and Canada have signed an agreement on joint production of defense products. Ukraine and Canada have also officially launched an action plan to implement the agreement on security cooperation.

Czech volunteers sent a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The Gift for putin initiative ensured the transfer of the helicopter thanks to donations from over 20,000 residents of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
