It has been the 1432  th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 4 pm:   

Karpovichi, Zaliznyi Mist, Leonivka in Chernihiv oblast; Bila Bereza, Kucherivka, Rohizne, Volfyne, Studenok, Brusky, Budky, Havrylova Sloboda, Bezsalivka, Bachivsk in Sumy oblast were shelled from the territory of the russian federation. The settlement of Kucherivka in Sumy oblast was subjected to an airstrike.

Towards Northern Sloboda and Kursk, the enemy made one attempted offensive, as well as two airstrikes, dropping three aerial bombs, and also carried out 45 attacks on settlements and positions of our units.

Towards Southern Sloboda, the enemy attacked three times in the vicinity of the settlements of Prylipka, Starytsia and of Izbitske.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy is trying to advance in the vicinity of Pishchane and Petropavlivka; in total, there were four clashes, one of which is currently ongoing.

Towards Lyman, Ukrainian soldiers repelled ten attacks by the invaders in the vicinity of the settlements of Serhiivka, Drobysheve, Kolodiazi, Novoselivka and Zarichne. One clash is currently ongoing.

Towards Slaviansk, there were no clashes.

Towards Kramatorsk, fighting is underway in the vicinity of ​​the settlement of Orikhovo-Vasylivka.

Towards Kostiantynivka, the invaders carried out six offensive actions near the settlements of Pleshchiivka, Kleban-Byk, Shcherbynivka, Kostiantynivka and Sofiivka. One attack is still ongoing.

Towards Pokrovsk, the enemy tried 24 times to advance to Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Shakhove, Dorozhne, Rodynske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filia and Novopavlivka.

Towards Oleksandrivka, the aggressor attacked four times, in the vicinity of the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Verbove, Krasnohirske and Nove Zaporizhzhia.

Towards Huliaipole, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine attacks by the occupiers, in the vicinity of the settlements of Solodke, Huliaipole, Dorozhnianka and towards Varvarivka, Zelene and Pryluky. In addition, enemy aircraft struck the settlements of Zelene, Rizdvianka, Nove Pole and Zirnytsia.

Towards Orikhiv, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of ​​Plavni and Stepove. The battle is ongoing.

Towards Kherson, the Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack in the vicinity of Antonivskyi Bridge.

In other directions, there were no significant changes.

Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat contact and in the rear.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Viktor Trehubov, Spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, reported that in Kupiansk the elimination of russian troops is nearing completion — there are still some remaining in several central neighbourhoods. According to him, russian troops are trying to break through from the north to reinforce their forces in the city, but have not succeeded.

According to the General Staff, In the South Slobozhanskyi direction, the occupiers attacked three times in the areas of the settlements of Prylipka, Starytsia, and in the direction of Izbytske.

In the Kupiansk direction, the russian federation is trying to advance towards Pishchane and Petropavlivka. In total, there have been four clashes in this direction, one of which is still ongoing at 16:00.

Over the past day, 127 combat clashes were recorded. 

In the South Slobozhansky direction, the enemy stormed the positions of our units six times in the areas of the settlements of Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory, Fyholivka and towards the settlements of Krugle and Chugunivka.

Yesterday, there were two attacks by the invaders in the Kupiansk direction. The defence forces repelled the enemy’s assault in the area of the settlement of Pishchane and towards Kurylivka.

In the Kyiv district of Kharkiv, an enemy drone struck a residential high-rise building. An 80-year-old woman was injured. Window panes were damaged. 

The injured woman was diagnosed with glass cuts and bruises. According to Valeria Chirina, spokeswoman for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, at the moment of the drone strike, she was on the street near the high-rise building.

In the village of Zatyshshia, a 57-year-old man was injured; in the village of Borivske, a 53-year-old woman was injured.

The enemy actively used various types of weapons:

▪️6 GABs;

▪️11 UAVs of the Geran-2 type;

▪️4 FPV-drones;

▪️1 UAV of the Molniya type;

▪️1 UAV (type is being determined).

Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed:

▪️in the city of Kharkiv, the enemy struck Kholodnohirskyi district (without damage);

▪️in Kupiansk region, a car was damaged (village of Hrushivka); the infrastructure of the enterprise was damaged (village of Shevchenkove); a car was damaged (Sobolyvka village); 2 private households were damaged (Velykyi Burluk village);

▪️in Kharkiv region, a private household was damaged (Vilshany village);

▪️in Bohodukhiv region, a car was damaged (Maksimivka village); a car was damaged (Zolochiv village); the infrastructure of an agricultural company was damaged (Lozova city);

▪️in Chuhuiv region, a private household was damaged (Sheludkivka village); a private household and a car were damaged (Mykolaivka village);

▪️in Izium region, 2 private households were damaged (Oskil village).

The transit evacuation point in Lozova accepted 68 people. A total of 17,210 people have been registered at the Point since the start of work.

Donetsk oblast

Yuliia Stepaniuk, Head of the Communications Unit of the 117th Separate Mechanized Brigade, reports that towards Pokrovsk, russian units increased the number of infiltration attempts by small groups and are intensively using fiber-optic drones and FPV drones. For camouflage, russian forces are using, among other things, ghillie suits.

The General Staff reported that russian troops reduced the number of attacks toward the city of Kostiantynivka to 13. Fighting over the past day took place near the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Kleban-Byk, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Yablunivka, Rusyn Yar, Sofiivka, and in the directions of Stepanivka and Novopavlivka.

Towards Pokrovsk, Ukrainian forces repelled 44 assault attempts.

Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of Kramatorsk Military Administration, says that at 05:38, russian forces struck the private residential sector of Kramatorsk with three FAB-250 aerial bombs. As a result of the strikes, 44 residential houses were damaged.

Vadym Liakh, Head of the Sloviansk Military Administration, says that as a result of an FPV drone attack by russian forces on Sloviansk on January 25, three cars, a café, a gas station, and an apartment building were damaged. 

Anastasiia Medviedieva, spokesperson for the regional prosecutor’s office, reports that on the morning of January 25, russian forces dropped an aerial bomb on the settlement of Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka. As a result, a woman was killed, and her husband sustained a traumatic brain injury and multiple wounds.

Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that on January 25, russian troops shelled Druzhkivka with Smerch multiple launch rocket systems. As a result of the attack, a 78-year-old pensioner sustained fatal injuries. Three more residents aged 47, 60, and 66 were wounded, suffering shrapnel injuries, blast trauma, and a traumatic foot amputation. Apartment buildings were damaged.

On January 24, there were 1,646 enemy strikes along the front line and against residential areas. Three settlements came under fire: the cities of Kramatorsk, Mykolaivka, and Sloviansk. Eleven civilian objects were damaged, including nine residential buildings.

Sloviansk was attacked by russian forces with three FPV drones, wounding two children born in 2009 and 2010. An apartment building and two civilian vehicles were damaged.

In Mykolaivka, an enemy FPV drone damaged a private house.

russian forces struck Kramatorsk and its outskirts with an FAB-250 bomb and a drone, damaging seven private houses. Three additional strikes were carried out against the city after midnight; no information about casualties has been reported, and the consequences are being clarified.

In addition, information has been confirmed about a wounded civilian in Lyman who was injured as a result of russian shelling on January 23.

Petro Andriushchenko, Head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, says that through Mariupol, the transfer of russian manpower, armored vehicles, and ammunition toward Huliaipole and the northern part of Donetsk oblast has increased. Columns of up to 40 vehicles have been recorded.

Luhansk oblast

Towards Lyman, russian forces attacked the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces six times, attempting to identify weak points near five settlements. Frontline villages in Luhansk oblast were shelled with various types of weapons: 18 mortar strikes, three attacks using automatic grenade launchers, and the use of 10 UAVs and FPV drones.

In the temporarily occupied territory of the so-called “lpr,” since January, russian security structures have intensified pressure on residents who do not hold russian passports, threatening deportation if they refuse to obtain a russian passport or a residence permit. The russian side does not recognize Ukrainian passports or certificates issued in the occupied territories since 2014.

Administrative services in the occupied part of Luhansk oblast have also been significantly restricted. In frontline cities, the list of available services has been reduced to a minimum. Across the entire territory of the so-called “lpr,” it is impossible to obtain a biometric foreign passport, and old-style documents are issued only in certain cities. In Sievierodonetsk, the occupation administration plans to introduce a pilot service in February for issuing certificates related to the reversal of street renaming.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

According to the RMA, there were consequences of the russian attack on Kyiv oblast in three regions. In Brovary region, 22 objects were damaged, including 15 private residential buildings, 6 vehicles, and 1 warehouse; in Boryspil region, 2 private residential buildings were damaged; in Vyshhorod region, a building of a cultural institution was damaged. Four residents of the oblast were injured as a result of the attack. All the victims were provided with necessary medical assistance.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Kyiv police explosives technicians neutralized the unexploded warhead of a ballistic missile that the enemy launched at the capital on the night of January 24. Fragments of an Iskander-M missile with a warhead weighing about half a ton were located near residential buildings and a gas station and posed a great threat.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko says that in the capital, as of the morning of January 25, 1,676 high-rise buildings are without heating. Due to damage to critical infrastructure by the enemy attack on January 24, almost 6,000 houses in Kyiv were again without heat supply. Most of them have already been connected to heat supply twice after russian shelling on January 9 and 20. Since last evening, utility and energy workers have restored the supply of coolant to over 1,600 houses.

Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba informs that in the capital, as of the evening of January 24, stable water supply has been restored. Over 160 repair teams are working to restore heat and electricity supply in Kyiv. Among them are additional brigades of Ukrzaliznytsia – 35, brigades from Kyiv oblast – 20, and more than 25 brigades from Vinnytsia, Rivne, Volyn, Mykolaiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Zakarpattia oblasts.

As of the evening of January 24, DTEK reported that power had been restored to 88,000 homes in Desnyanskyi district after the russian shelling.

In four days, Czech activists raised almost 4 million euros to purchase generators and batteries for Kyiv, whose residents were left without heating due to massive russian attacks and damage to the energy infrastructure. This is stated on the website of the charitable organization “A Gift for putin”.

The RMA reported that in total, 4,436 generators with a total capacity of over 95 MW are deployed in Kyiv oblast, which ensure the operation of heat supply, water supply and sewage facilities, healthcare facilities, education, the social sphere, and inviolability points. The oblast also operates 51 distributed generation facilities with a total capacity of 110 MW and 36 block-modular boiler houses have been installed.

Kyiv City State Administration reported that the capital plans to modernize the City Center for Thermal Injuries and create a hub for the treatment of complex burns that will comply with European protocols. The upgrades will be carried out with the assistance of the Belgian Development Agency Enabel.

Zhytomyr oblast

The regional employment service reports that in 2025, 90 residents of Zhytomyr oblast received UAH 43.5 million in state support for opening or developing a business under the veterans’ direction of the Own Business program. Among the entrepreneurs are 54 combatants and 36 wives of veterans. 

Sumy oblast

Over the past 24 hours, from the morning of 24 January to the morning of 25 January, russian forces carried out more than 80 attacks on 34 settlements across 16 territorial communities of the oblast. The highest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy and Shostka regions. The enemy used artillery, mortars, multiple launch rocket systems, FPV drones, UAVs, guided aerial bombs, and unguided aircraft rockets. Over the day, air raid alerts in the oblast lasted for 19 hours and 50 minutes.

Civilian infrastructure was damaged or destroyed as follows:

  • In Richky community, a private residential house was damaged;
  • In Sumy community, a civilian infrastructure facility, shop premises, private households, and passenger vehicles were damaged;
  • In Bilopillia community, multi-storey residential buildings, a private household, and a passenger vehicle were damaged;
  • In Seredyna-Buda community, premises of a healthcare facility were damaged;
  • In Khutir-Mykhailivska community, a private household was damaged;
  • In Hlukhiv community, private residential houses and a passenger vehicle were damaged;
  • In Mykolaivka rural community, a private household and a passenger vehicle were damaged.

The Regional Military Administration reported that since the beginning of the year, 300 residents of border communities have evacuated from hazardous areas that are being attacked by russian forces almost daily. More than 1,350 places for temporary and long-term accommodation of internally displaced persons have been prepared in the oblast. Transit centres are operating in Sumy, Romny, and Shostka regions. With the support of international partners, long-term solutions are being implemented: nearly 100 people are already living in modular housing in Nyzhnia Syrovatka and Lypova Dolyna communities.

Chernihiv oblast

Oleksandr Seliverstov, Head of Novhorod-Siverskyi Regional State Administration, said that on 25 January, russian forces attacked Semenivka by an FPV drone and Molniya-type attack UAVs. As a result, private houses were damaged and a civilian vehicle was hit. Later, two more explosions were heard in the city following FPV drone strikes on civilian infrastructure.

According to Oleksandr Seliverstov, as a result of a russian attack on the evening of 24 January, five residential houses in Novhorod-Siverskyi sustained varying degrees of damage.

Police reported that on 24 January, strikes in Nizhyn region killed a cow and damaged residential houses. In one village of Koriukivka region, residential buildings were damaged, with windows shattered and façades affected. 

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported that on 24 January, in a village of Chernihiv region, russian forces carried out several Heran-type UAV strikes on the territory of an agricultural cooperative. A grain storage hangar caught fire, and five trucks were damaged.

The Chernihiv Border Guard Detachment informed that over the course of 24 January, russian forces attacked Novhorod-Siverskyi and Semenivka border communities of Chernihiv oblast. The enemy carried out tube artillery shelling (seven explosions), struck by Shahed-type UAVs (two explosions), a Herbera-type UAV (one explosion), FPV drones (14 explosions), and dropped explosive devices from UAVs (four explosions). Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, and seven villages came under fire.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Council, reported that the enemy continued to attack the regional centre and Chervonohryhorivka community. The strikes involved artillery and a UAV.

A private house was destroyed. Another 11 houses, a multi-storey residential building, three outbuildings, two greenhouses, 40 solar panels, infrastructure facilities, five gas pipelines, and two power lines were damaged.

The enemy also attacked the regional centre as well as Pokrovske, Marhanets, and Chervonohryhorivka communities by drones and artillery. Several private houses, a fire depot, a car wash, a garage, a sports complex, and an agricultural enterprise were damaged. As a result of a UAV attack in Ukrainka community, a fire broke out and a lorry caught fire. Occupying forces also struck Zelenodolsk community by a drone, damaging a post office.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Dolynska town, Kropyvnytskyi region, a rally titled “Do Not Be Silent! Captivity Kills!” was held in support of missing servicemen and those held in russian captivity. The aim of the event was to draw attention to the need for the release and return home of Ukrainian fighters.

Poltava oblast

Poltava Regional Military Administration reported that overnight, during another enemy attack, air defence was active in Poltava oblast. As a result of falling debris, a sports ground and the roof of one enterprise in Poltava region were damaged.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Regional Military Administration, russian forces attacked a gas station in Zaporizhzhia with a drone. As a result of the attack, a woman was injured.

Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that on 24 January, the occupiers carried out 754 strikes on 32 settlements in Zaporizhzhia oblast. russian forces conducted 19 airstrikes on Zirnytsia, Rizdvianka, Liubytske, Zaliznychne, Preobrazhenka, Kopani, Verkhnia Tersa, Vozdvyzhivka, Sviatopetrivka, and Dorozhnianka. 500 UAVs of various types (mostly FPV) attacked Zaporizhzhia, Chervonodniprovka, Rozumivka, Tavriiske, Stepnohirsk, Plavni, Prymorske, Stepove, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Sviatopetrivka, Zelene, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, Tsvitkove, and Solodke. Five MLRS attacks hit Lukianivske, Mala Tokmachka, Charivne, and Staroukrainka. 230 artillery strikes were carried out on Chervonodniprovka, Stepnohirsk, Prymorske, Stepove, Pavlivka, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mala Tokmachka, Bilohiria, Sviatopetrivka, Zelene, Varvarivka, Dobropillia, and Solodke. Forty-nine reports of damage to housing and infrastructure were received. A 39-year-old woman was injured as a result of an enemy attack on Tavriiske.

According to the General Staff, Ukrainian defenders repelled nine russian attacks in the vicinity of Solodke, Huliaipole, Dorozhnianka, Varvarivka, Zelene, and Pryluky towards Huliaipole. The enemy attacked Ukrainian positions near Plavni and Stepove towards Orikhiv. Fighting is ongoing. Over the past day, 24 January, the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled 16 russian attacks towards Huliaipole and two towards Orikhiv.

Mykolaiv oblast

The press service of Mykolaivoblenergo reported that during shelling in Mykolaiv oblast on 25 January, an employee was injured. As a result of the attack, energy equipment was also damaged. The Air Force had warned of a high-speed target heading towards the city, and at around 08:21, an explosion was heard in Ochakiv.

According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, yesterday the enemy attacked Ochakiv community four times with FPV drones. There were no casualties.

On 25 January, there were remembrance rallies for prisoners of war and those missing in action in Mykolaiv and Pivdennoukrainsk. About 150 people — mothers, wives, friends of defenders, and concerned residents — gathered in the center of Mykolaiv. In Pivdennoukrainsk at 09:00, participants blocked the road, calling on people to stop and remember those who have not yet returned home.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported an elderly resident was killed during a russian attack on 25 January. During the night, russian occupiers shelled Dniprovskyi district of Kherson. 

Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that at around 09:30, russians attacked a house in the village of Dudchany of Mylove community with a UAV. As a result of the strike, the roof, windows, and building facade were damaged.

According to Kherson Regional Military Administration, on 24 January, the russian forces attacked Antonivka, Prydniprovske, Sadove, Bilozerka, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Stanislav, Sofiivka, Shyroka Balka, Ivanivka, Inhulets, Mykilske, Novotiahynka, Poniativka, Tokarivka, Beryslav, Novosilka, Tarasa Shevchenka, Tomaryne, Rakivka, Borozenkse, Kostyrka, Novovorontsovka, Shevchenkivka, Khreshchenivka, Mylove, Dudchany, Kachkarivka, Tiahynka, Burhunka, Odradokamianka, Chervonyi Maiak, Vesele, Kozatske, and the city of Kherson. As a result of the attacks, seven apartment buildings, 27 private houses, a gas pipeline, private garages, and vehicles were damaged. Four people were injured due to russian aggression.

According to the General Staff, on 25 January, the Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack towardі Antonivskyi Bridge, Kherson.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Mykola Slisar, Senior Sergeant, Gunner-Operator from Volyn oblast, was killed in the war. The Hero had been missing since 11 January, 2025. It has now become known that the soldier was killed near the settlement of Dachne, Pokrovsky region, Donetsk oblast.

Zakarpattia oblast

Crews from the oblast are helping Kyiv restore heat. While the capital is struggling with the consequences of accidents and shelling, utility workers from the oblast have arrived to help.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade celebrates its third anniversary. Last year, over UAH 15.6m was allocated from the regional budget to strengthen the brigade. Another over UAH 3.2m was raised thanks to a charity auction held in June in support of the military formation.

Lviv oblast

Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kornienko, the 1st Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and Olena Kondratiuk, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, arrived in Lviv oblast. They are participating in the Jean Monnet Dialogue for Peace and Democracy. A number of European-level politicians also joined the discussions.

Rivne oblast

The RMA reported that as of the beginning of this year, Rivne oblast has 113 international agreements. 9 of them were concluded last year. The geography covers 19 countries, including Poland, Germany, the USA, France and Italy.

Ternopil oblast

17 defenders from Ternopil community will receive a one-time grant of UAH 15,000 for treatment and rehabilitation. Since the beginning of 2026, 31 Ternopil warriors have received funds.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A working meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of Khmelnytskyi oblast and its territorial communities was held in Kamianets-Podilskyi. Special attention during the meeting was focused on the exchange of experience between communities, support for youth, and international cooperation.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi City Council reported that Junior Lieutenant Serhii Obshanskyi, who has been defending Ukraine for four years, was awarded with the To the Glory of Chernivtsi medal.

Allies are providing Ukraine with 6,000 units of major energy equipment. Partners also continue to contribute to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine. For example, the EU is providing 447 generators, Japan – 140, Lithuania – 90, France – 100.
