On 24 September, the Ukrainian Defense Forces were holding back russian occupiers and taking all necessary measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory.
There were 83 engagements on the front line.
Missile strikes from russian territory hit the border villages of Khotin and Korshachyna in Sumy oblast (russia likely used S-300 air defence missiles). Meanwhile, artillery and mortar fire affected the vicinities of Sopych, Velyka Pysarivka, Luhivka, Uhroidy, Brusky, Tymofiivka, Iskryskivshchyna and Bilopillia in Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts.
Additionally, russian forces carried out KAB airstrikes on the vicinities of Malushyne, Richky, Yastrubyne, Sosnivka, Kindrativka, Pavlivka, Nova Sloboda and Sumy.
Towards Kharkiv, russians attempted to storm positions near Vovchansk. At the same time, guided bombs struck residential areas and civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv.
Towards Kupiansk, russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions seven times near Andriivka, Lozova, and Stelmakhivka. Two battles are still ongoing. russians also launched 16 rocket attacks on Petropavlivka.
Towards Lyman, russians launched 15 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Druzhyliubivka, Hrekivka, Cherneshchyna, Nevske, Torske and Novosadove. Ten battles have ended, while five are still ongoing. Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold the line and inflict losses on the enemy.

Operations continue in Kursk region, where russian aircraft continue to destroy their own villages and towns. Since the start of the day, russian planes have carried out six strikes with nine KABs on their own territory.
Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov, reported that the Ministry of Defence plans to transition to 100% electronic documentation in the army and reform military recruitment centres (TCC). As part of the digitalization of the army, apps such as “Army+,” “Reserve+” and the upcoming “Veteran+” have been launched. So far, 230,000 military personnel are using electronic services in the “Army+” app, which covers everything from submitting reports to digital health data management.
The war has forced hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians to flee their homes, seeking refuge in other regions of the country or abroad. Many families from frontline areas have been sheltered by residents of Zakarpattia. To assist these individuals, the state program Prykhystok was launched in 2022. Since its inception, more than 128,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have used this housing program in the region. Homeowners have been allocated UAH 65.7m in compensation, with over UAH 62m already paid out. Financial compensations worth more than UAH 3m are still being processed.
Recent war events in the east of Ukraine
The General Staff reported that towards Pokrovsk, russia conducted most of the attacks yesterday. A total of 99 attacks took place in the east.
Ukrainian troops repelled 30 attacks towards Pokrovsk. The russian army tried to advance towards Vozdvyzhenka, Marynivka, Myroliubivka, Novotoretske, Mykolaivka, Novohrodivka, Zhuravka, Krasnyi Yar and Zelene Pole.
Towards Kurakhove, Ukrainian defence forces repelled 21 attacks near Tsukuryne, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Katerynivka and Ukrainsk.
Towards Lyman, the russian army attacked 19 times near Cherneshchyna, Druzheliubivka, Nevske, Makiivka, Dibrova, Torske and Dronivka.
Kharkiv oblast
The completion of the operation to liberate the aggregate plant in Vovchansk became known on the afternoon of 24 September. Intelligence units handed over the plant to the Ukrainian Armed Forces for mopping up.

Three people were killed and 31 civilians were injured in the shelling of Kharkiv. The youngest injured is a 17-year-old girl. The oldest was 87 years old. Most of the victims are in moderate condition. Four people are in critical condition. Three people are in surgery. Rescuers, special search dogs and all the necessary specialised services are involved in the operation. According to law enforcement officials, the occupiers hit a residential building in Kharkiv with a FAB-500 bomb. The enemy struck at least five times with guided bombs. The hits were recorded on a 9-storey building, a civilian enterprise, and an open area
The RMA reported that the enemy also struck a civilian bakery in Kharkiv. One person was killed and eight people injured. The attack was carried out with a FAB-500 bomb.

Kharkiv police said that the strike on Saltiv region damaged a sports ground, a kindergarten, windows in apartment buildings and a supermarket. A man died from shrapnel wounds.
At 3:49am, an open area of Kyivskyi district was hit. As a result of shelling from Tornado-S MRLs, grass and branches were burning over an area of 100 sq m.
At 5:40pm, Kharkiv was attacked. Enemy MRLs hit the ground on the territory of the cemetery. Grass and plantings on fire over an area of 300 sq m. The second hit also hit the ground. There were no casualties.
At 5:49pm, Tsyrkuny community of Kharkiv region was attacked. As a result of the shelling the grass burned on the area of 3 hectares.
At 2:20pm, Ivashky village of Zolochiv community, Bohodukhiv region, was shelled. A private house caught on fire as a result of the shelling.
At 1:46pm, Izium district, Borivska TG, the village of Zahryzove. A private house burned down as a result of the shelling.
At 10am, Riznykove village of Vovchansk community, Chuhuiv region, was attacked. A destroyed house was burning as a result of the shelling.
At 10am, Osynove village of Kupiansk region was hit. The shelling damaged a private house and a car. A 59-year-old woman was injured.
At 9am, Kupiansk was attacked. An 82-year-old woman was killed as a result of the shelling.
At 8:05am, Khotimlia village of Staryi Saltiv community, Chuhuiv region, was targeted. A shell hit the ground. The building of the enterprise was damaged.
Towards Kharkiv, russian troops are trying to push our units near Liptsy and Tykhe, and a battle is ongoing near the latter.
Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked our positions 7 times. Near Hlushkivka, Kucherivka, Kolisnykivka and Stelmakhivka, Ukrainian defence forces repelled seven enemy attacks.
Donetsk oblast
The regional prosecutor’s office said that two men were killed in Pokrovsk as a result of russian shelling. The occupation forces shelled the city at around 4:30pm, hitting residential areas, according to preliminary findings, using artillery.
Volodymyr Proskunin, Deputy Head of the CMA, reported that russian troops shelled Mykolaivka 10:10am. There were casualties but a dormitory and two-storey residential buildings were damaged.
The State Emergency Service reported that for the second time in a month, russian troops attacked a fire station in Kurakhove. On the morning of 24 September, the russian army shelled Kurakhove and damaged the fire station building.
Vadym Filashkin, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, informed that one person was killed and two wounded as a result of the morning attack on Kostiantynivka. Also russian troops dropped two guided aerial bombs on the town. Two infrastructure facilities and a commercial building were damaged.
After midnight, the occupiers attacked Kostiantynivka by Smerch multiple rocket launchers with a cluster charge, damaging an administrative building, a service station and a power line.

Yesterday 8 civilians were killed and 18 wounded, including children, by russian shelling. During the day, police recorded 3,105 enemy attacks on the frontline and residential areas. Also russian troops attacked 17 settlements. They damaged 83 civilian objects, including 50 residential buildings.
The occupiers attacked Kramatorsk with three FAB-250 bombs with a UMPK module and a Tornado-S MRLs with a cluster warhead, killing a civilian and injuring four other people. 14 private houses and cars were destroyed.
The enemy dropped a FAB-250 bomb with an UMPK module on Udachne, killing one person and injuring one. An industrial facility was damaged.
The russians launched a FAB-250 bomb with an UMPK module at Shakhove, injuring six civilians, including two boys aged 7 and 9. Three houses, three shops, an administrative building, a medical centre and garages were damaged.
Russia shelled Pokrovsk with aerial bombs and artillery, damaging residential buildings, garages and civilian cars. A local resident was hospitalised in Dobropillia city hospital with injuries to his chest and both upper limbs.
Donetskoblhaz reported that the enemy troops damaged a vehicle of the emergency gas service in Pokrovsk, but the employees were not injured.
One person was injured, 11 apartment buildings and a dormitory were damaged in Myrnohrad.

Two wounded were reported in Chasiv Yar, one in Hirnyk, Kurakhivka and Shevchenko village.
The commander of the Zalizna Rota motorised infantry brigade of the 72nd Brigade, call sign Oscararound Vuhledar, reported that russian troops are trying to constantly advance in different parts of the frontline, using armoured vehicles, artillery and mortars. According to him, the attacks are constant.
Andrii Kovalenko, Head of the National Security and Defence Council’s Disinformation Counteraction Centre, said that russian troops are moving towards Vuhledar from the flanks, having destroyed the town.
Luhansk oblast
The RMA reported that towards Kupiansk, russians attacked near Stelmakhivka. Towards Lyman, the invaders’ units continue to attack near Makiivka and Zhuravka (Nevske) Balka.
Heavy fighting is ongoing near Zhuravka Balka. The enemy is sending a lot of forces and means there. The russians shelled the village with cannon and rocket artillery and used 60 drones in the area. Neighbouring Makiivka was hit by artillery and UAVs.
Overall, the security situation on the contact line is tense. Heavy fighting is taking place near Zhuravka (Nevske) Balka, as the enemy is throwing a lot of resources there. The invaders are using a large number of drones there.
All but one of the relocated general secondary education institutions have been operating online since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Despite this, Luhansk oblast was ranked fourth in the NMT-2024 results. Schools in the oblast have established a good distance education format.
The occupiers claim that they have managed to eliminate most of the fires in the so-called “lpr”. However, in Antratsyt community, their inaction destroyed the village of Khrystoforivka, where more than 95% of households burned down. The rescuers did not arrive because they were dispersed to “the most important facilities”. This settlement was not on the list.
Not a single lift is working in the apartment buildings of Siverskodonetsk. They broke down one by one in the spring of 2022, when the city suffered from massive russian shelling. For more than two years, the invaders have paid no attention to the problem. Repairs are not enough and a complete replacement of the mechanism is required. They promise to start this work when they have fully completed the restoration of the housing stock. That is, we have to wait for more than one or two years.
During the year, the occupiers did not take any steps to restore the heating system in the cities seized in 2022. There will be significant problems in the winter. There are power outages in many settlements.

Kyiv oblast
Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that the russian military attacked Kyiv oblast with drones. As a result of the fall of debris, grass flooring caught fire in two districts of the region. There were no hits to residential or critical infrastructure.
Kyiv oblast handed over 30 DJI Mavic 3T quadcopters to the Burevii brigade, purchased with a subvention from the regional budget. The equipment will soon be sent to the east to help the Ukrainian military.
The poet Taras Illia, son of Ukrainian poets Valeryi Illia and Valentyna Otroshchenko, was killed in the war. The burial will take place on 24 September at the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv. Taras Illia became a laureate of the Oles Honchar Prize in 2013 for his collection of poems “The Roots of the Ocean”. In poetry circles, he was called the General.
Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that resilience centres are operating in 16 territorial communities. These are barrier-free spaces where residents can receive social services and psychological assistance free of charge. Soon, such centres will appear in other communities.
The RMA reported that 10 communities in Kyiv oblast received another batch of school buses. This year, the fleet of school buses in the region will be replenished with 55 units, 13 of which will be provided by Czech partners.
The educational space of the region has been replenished with another Safety Class, created in Fastiv region for students of Krushyn Gymnasium of Hlevakha Village Council. Rescuers and police conducted an informative safety lesson, an interesting tour of the classroom locations and the traditional “Prevent! Save! Help!”.
On 23 September, the Zhovten Cinema in Kyiv hosted the premiere of the web series “Every Death Shrinks Me”, which highlights the work of paramedics from the Hospitallers volunteer battalion at the frontline. The film is directed by Serhii Bazhenov. One of the protagonists of the web series is paramedic Iryna Tsybukh, who repeatedly saved the lives of soldiers and died during a rotation in the Kharkiv sector in May this year.
Zhytomyr oblast
On 23 September, a foreign delegation from the United Delivery Mission MTU (Estonia) visited the town of Ovruch, Korosten region. The partners provided humanitarian aid for the needs of the fire and rescue unit in the form of a Volkswagen Transporter minibus.
Yurii Lysak, a veteran of the russian-Ukrainian war in Zhytomyr, started his own business after his demobilisation, opening a woodworking workshop where he produces wooden-bodied LED flashlights and sends them to the military at the front line. Other veterans work in the workshop with him. Children who want to contribute to helping the military are also involved in making and painting the lanterns.
Sumy oblast
According to Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, on 24 September, around 12pm, the russian army attacked a private house in Nova Slobidka community in Sumy oblast using a drone. The attack resulted in the death of the 63-year-old owner of the house.
During night and morning, russians carried out 11 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 15 explosions. The attacks targeted Sumy, Khotin, Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Richky, Shalyhyne, Shostka communities.
During the day, 23 September, russians carried out 89 shelling attacks on border areas and settlements in Sumy oblast, resulting in 215 explosions. The attacks targeted Mykolaivka, Khotin, Yunakivka, Myropilia, Bilopillia, Vorozhba, Richky, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Trostianets, Kyrylivka, Buryn, Putyvl, Nova Slobidka, Hlukhiv, Esman, Shalyhyne, Svessa, Druzhbivka, Seredyna-Buda communities.
In Velyka Pysarivka community, russian forces dropped six mines on the community’s territory. Additionally, they carried out tank shelling (6 explosions), drone-dropped explosive devices (5 explosions), and artillery strike (2 explosions).

Oleksii Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Reconstruction and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, visited Sumy oblast. During the visit, a memorandum was signed regarding the patronage of rebuilding frontline cities between the communities of Sumy oblast and those of Rivne oblast (Bereznivka, Rokytne communities), Ternopil oblast (Ternopil, Zbarazh, and Kopychyntsi communities), and Kyiv oblast (Obukhiv community). The first projects set to be restored under this cooperation are the “Orliatko” kindergarten in Konotop and a residential building in Okhtyrka.
Chernihiv oblast
During the day, russian forces attacked three border communities in Chernihiv oblast. The fire was carried out using artillery and mortars, and drones were also used to drop explosives from UAVs.

No casualties or injuries among the local population were reported as a result of the shelling.
According to Chernihiv City Council, the overall readiness for the heating season stands at 98%. Two boilers are still pending activation, while the city’s thermal power plant is technically ready.
Additionally, international partners from Latvia, coordinated by the charitable organisation TEV, have sent a humanitarian aid convoy from Riga to Chernihiv. The municipality of Saldus in Latvia provided six cars for hospitals in the oblast. Ukrainian Embassy in Latvia reported that the Latvian utility company Rīgas ūdens donated seven transformers to support Chernihiv’s energy system.
Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine
Dnipropetrovsk oblast
The russians used kamikaze drones, artillery and attacked with ammunition from drones. They targeted the district centre, Marhanets, Myrove and Pokrovsk communities. An educational institution, 4 private houses, 2 outbuildings, greenhouses, a garage and a car were damaged. There were no casualties.
Vinnytsia oblast
Air defence systems were operating in Vinnytsia oblast at night, a UAV was destroyed. There were no casualties or damage.
Kirovohrad oblast
Andrii Raikovych, Head of the RMA, informed that air defence was operating over Kirovohrad oblast at night, and an enemy drone was shot down. There were no casualties or damage.
Kirovohrad oblast has lost a defender of Ukraine. Vitalii Huz died in hospital after being wounded during a combat mission in Donetsk oblast. Vasyl Polovyi died near the village of Lastochkyne, Pokrovsk region, Donetsk oblast, on 24 February 2024.
Poltava oblast
On the night of 24 September, in Myrhorod region, the wreckage of a russian UAV damaged several private houses, but no one was injured. The energy infrastructure was also damaged, leaving 20 settlements without electricity.
Philip Pronin, Head of the RMA, reported that the fall of the UAV debris damaged homes in Velyka Bahachka community. Among them are the homes of two large families and a lonely elderly woman. Gas and electricity supply are cut off in part of the village.
Poltava community plans to pay financial assistance to the victims of rocket attacks in Suprunivka, Vakulentsi and Brailky neighbourhood. The total amount of new payments is over UAH 2.5m.
Cherkasy oblast
Air defence, mobile firing groups and electronic warfare units destroyed 20 enemy UAVs in Cherkasy oblast. At the same time, there were several hits on open territory in the regional centre. There were no casualties. The falling debris in Smila smashed windows in several buildings. In four cases, dry vegetation caught fire. The fires have now been extinguished.

Zaporizhzhia oblast
According to Ivan Fedorow, Head of the RMA, on the night of 24 September, the russian army attacked Zaporizhzhia. The shelling killed one person and wounded nine others, including children. More than 100 houses were damaged as a result of russian shelling.

Mykolaiv oblast
The RMA reported that air defence forces in Mykolaiv oblast destroyed four Shahed 131/136 drones on the night of 24 September. Meanwhile, russians attacked Kutsurub community with FPV drones during the day. No one was injured.
Odesa oblast
Ukrainian Navy reported that there is one enemy ship in the Black Sea, no Kalibr cruise missile carriers; there are no enemy ships in the Sea of Azov.
Kherson oblast
According to the RMA, in the evening of 24 September, russian troops fired several times and attacked Zolota Balka with a drone. No one was killed or injured.
The RMA added that the russian military attacked Stanislav in Kherson oblast. Two people were wounded.
According to head of RMA Oleksandr Prokudin, two more children from the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson oblast were transferred to the government-controlled territory/ These are a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl deprived of parental care.
Roman Mrochko, Head of the CMA, reported that russian military deployed explosives from a drone on a 65-year-old woman in Kindiitsia close to Kherson.
A 57-year-old man was wounded in Dniprovskyi district of Kherson due to the deployment of russian explosives from a UAV. He was hospitalised.
The prosecutor’s office said that at about 11:40 a.m., russian military personnel attacked Beryslav with drones. A man was killed and a 70-year-old woman wounded.
According to the RMA, at about 5am,0 the russian military launched an explosive from a drone on a 61-year-old resident of Poniativka in Kherson oblast. He sustained an explosive injury, multiple shrapnel wounds to his abdomen and leg.

Volyn oblast
Lutsk City Council sent a Mitsubishi L200 SUV to the Company of strike Aviation Complexes of the 68th Separate Hunting Brigade purchased with the funds of 1 day’s earnings of city council employees.
Zakarpattia oblast
Residents of the oblast placed 128,000 IDPs at home, using the Shelter state program. The purpose of the program is to provide financial support to households that provided their housing to IDPs for free.
Ivano-Frankivsk oblast
The RMA reported that Prykarpattia received over UAH 45m in state subsidies for the purchase of housing for large adoptive families who moved from the frontline territories to Prykarpattia.
Ivano-Frankivsk community sent 30 drones to the Svoboda battalion of the Rubizh brigade in Donetsk oblast, where fighters are on duty.
In Prykarpattia, implementation of the Institute of Escort Specialist is underway. Such specialists should be in every community and provide support to servicemen who have returned from the war.
Lviv oblast
Since the beginning of the year, the RMA has directed almost UAH 10m from the regional budget for production of UAVs. During this time, over 1,000 drones with various functions were successfully manufactured.
The RMA held a meeting with Richard Reagan, Director of the UN World Food Program in Ukraine (WFP Ukraine). In a few months, the World Food Program will provide financial assistance to 45 schools in Lviv oblast.
In the blast, the final stage of Ecoweekends was held for children of military personnel, IDPs, and children from vulnerable categories. Ecoweekend lasted three weeks, during which 75 participants were involved.
Rivne oblast
As part of the meeting, six communities from Ternopil, Kyiv and Rivne oblasts signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with 6 border communities of Sumy oblast and help in reconstruction, namely, material, financial and organisational support for the reconstruction of objects damaged as a result of russian aggression.
4 Rivne veterans will represent Ukraine at the competition in Spain. In October, Madrid will host the Arnold Classic Europe, a representative sports festival founded in 2011 by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Volodymyr Klymov, Yevhen Fedoseienko, Ihor Tarhonskyi and Ilona Derelo were members of the national team. Before that, all of them successfully performed at the qualifying stage in Bukovel.
Ternopil oblast
As part of the meeting, six communities from Ternopil, Kyiv and Rivne oblasts signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with 6 border communities of Sumy oblast and help in reconstruction, namely, material, financial and organisational support for the reconstruction of objects damaged as a result of russian aggression.
Ternopil community sent EW and anti-drone guns to the military. This equipment was developed and manufactured in Ternopil as part of the city’s competition for innovative national security projects.
Khmelnytskyi oblast
